Could a maxed out iPad Pro replace my laptop?!🤔💻 - Duration: 11:20.
hey everyone it's Yuka here in today's video I'm talking about one of my
favorite Apple products of the year the iPad pro 2018
so at this moment I don't have any kind of like actual laptop that I'm using
actively so to answer the question which is also the title of this video could a
maxed out iPad pro to replace my macbook well it actually kind of did but it was
also inevitable so well let me explain so I used to use the MacBook Pro 13 inch
with the touch bar but that was my work laptop
I left my full-time job recently and so I had to give back my work laptop and so
I don't have that anymore and leaving my full-time job is was a huge decision I
made and that deserves another video so I'll get into that in another one but
yeah that happened so as I was saying I have been laptop less for a few weeks
now and outside of my home office was just right here where I have my iMac Pro
I have been using the iPad pro for everything work and play so for my set I
have the one terabyte twelve point nine inch Wi-Fi model and Space Gray I also
got this smart Keyboard folio and of course the second-generation Apple
pencil so far I feel like I haven't came nearly close to its limits I actually
started working with my friend's startup doing some freelance marketing type job
so I'm using apps like Gmail spreadsheet Google Docs all the Google suite and
I'll also be using some of the Adobe apps like Lightroom it's been really
good especially the Google Apps because my job is to kind of strategize and
write up all the plan and that kind of thing so I'll be just typing away like I
do on my normal laptop or iMac and I just forget that I'm using an iPad so
for my other use case it's to take with me when I travel so since I don't have
anything else any other top to take with me I will only need to
rely on the iPad pro so that means I need to do all my emails planning for a
video editing making thumbnails uploading that all needs to work on the
iPad pro so I haven't put it to the test yet but I feel like that deserves
another video on my workflow and how that would work for me but I'll probably
be editing with primary brush or even luma fusion I've heard great things
about that I'll definitely keep you updated on how that goes I'll be
traveling to Japan in January so they'll be a great time to test that out okay so
let's talk about some of the pros and cons and little quirks that I've found
and what I'm excited about so one of the things is the keyboard I actually don't
think this keyboard itself isn't too bad it's a little stiff but I'm actually
okay with it the thing I struggle with the most is how iOS and Mac OS is a
little different in regards to how the keyboard is handled this is probably an
edge case that not many people might have but I switch over from English to
Japanese keyboard all the time I probably spend equal amount of time
using each language the seamlessness of switching the keyboards from Japanese to
English is really important to me on the Mac OS I usually use the command key to
do that it's just like second nature to me so I don't ever think about it but my
fingers just do it for me on the iPad since it's on iOS I need to use the
globey icon to switch from English to Japanese and even to the emoji keyboard
I found that on the settings so you can also do that with the caps lock if you
want a signed out two language or keyboard switch but since I don't use
that key on the Mac I just need to stop and think about it in order to do that
that that might be my personal quirk it might not apply to you but that's
something I found within this few weeks I've been
using the iPad pro okay so similar to that the other maybe con could be that
iPad pro runs on iOS it really depends on the app developer how serious they
are on making the iPad experience great I found that Google Apps and Adobe apps
are amazing and if you use that that's awesome I think it will probably work
for you but if you're using other mock-ups that are really essential to
your work or other I don't know websites that that is like key to your workflow
that might not work on iOS that might be a problem for you you might have to find
other ways to make it work on your workflow through different apps or
through different hacks there could be some limitations but then there are
other things that you can't do on the Mac OS like use your finger or use the
Apple pencil to do your work okay so here's what I'm excited about as you
guys have heard me talk about so many times in this video I love Google Docs
and I am a formatting freak so I use the keyboard to format all of my documents
like h1 h2 h3 sometimes I go into h4 because it just looks pretty having the
same shortcuts on the keyboard just makes my life so much easier and so
seamless I'm okay with having iPad to replace my MacBook Pro and on other apps
as well there are a lot of keyboard shortcuts that you can use if you have
the smart folio or if you're using other third-party keyboards it'll work the
same way once you're using an app you can long press the command key to see
what keyboard shortcuts you can use on that app so sometimes the app developers
are not doing that so it just depends on the app if they have that or not you can
just give it a try if you have some of your favorite apps just long press on
command and see what comes up so the next thing
I want to talk about this face ID so this is actually the first device I have
with face ID so I didn't upgrade to the iPhone 10th ISO held my iPhone 8 plus
and so this is my first time using face ID on my device I've seen other people
do it it's kind of sometimes awkward you're wearing sunglasses or I don't
know if you're in the dark or if it's upside down
into stuff doesn't work sometimes on the iPad pro since I'm sitting and
associations I usually have my folio case on it's just like really natural
for me it's just look at it because I'm looking at the screen anyways for it to
wake up and take my face ID and lock me in this is where based ID kind of shines
it's been a really seamless experience the iPad pro lets you sign in with your
face ID in any orientation so that's really great too if you're holding it
upside down or sideways so it just works really well okay so thirdly USBC is here
what like I thought this would never happen it's too bad it doesn't take in
any of like the storage devices but since I can connect directly to my
camera and get all the data out of the card I don't have to have a card reader
and all the different dongles I can just carry one USB see kind of cable that
could be used to charge the device but also connect to my camera so I can get
all of the data into the iPad and it really helps that I have one terabyte so
I can just keep all the data dumped on my iPad while I'm traveling and just
edit my videos on the go okay so another thing this might be a little minor but I
like that I can have the angle of this screen right right here like this but
the depth of the laptop or ipod is not as big as a MacBook does that make sense
like so to have this angle on book pro you have to open it up a lot
more and it will take a lot more space on your desk which might come in handy
to have it compact if you're traveling if you're on a plane and you want to
open up your laptop on a airplane table thing this will be great like you
can have the right angle but it doesn't take as much like depth into your table
so there's another thing it's MIT meiner but I want to be working on the plane to
edit I think that'll be great so far it's been a really great experience
using the iPad pro for work for play for drawing for watching YouTube well I'm
not traveling in a lot at home I can take this on the go in the cafe but what
I really want to do serious editing work I can go on my iMac Pro to work on that
stuff so I think the real test will be when I'm traveling how much can I rely
on this and I think that will kind of give me the ultimate answer of if I can
really really replace my MacBook all in all I think I think it's really good I'm
really happy with it but I think the next question is thinking about is it
for you if you're thinking of buying the iPad pro only and you don't have any
other desktop computer or anything else I think it might be a little tricky
especially if you're thinking about you doing some more complicated stuff like
video editing or photo editing or like really hardcore illustrator work or
something for me as a non engineer non designer type of person it works for me
because I can just work on my Google Swede you use like Microsoft Office type
apps that also works great on the iPad I would feel personally a little bit
insecure of not having any device with Mac OS but that's us me it might work
for you all right so that's it for today's video if there
are anything else you want me to
with the iPad pro and make a video about please let me know in the comments below
I really hope you enjoyed this video don't forget to subscribe if you haven't
already and I'll see you in the next video bye

Map labelling questions in IELTS Listening | 3 maps solved - Duration: 22:26.
Hey guys! I am so happy to see you here again and we are solving together the
map questions for IELTS listening. I know how much you have been waiting for this
video and I'm here to help you. And let's just clarify everything together because
I know how difficult it might be from time to time, although I believe that
listening questions and reading questions, those two models on IELTS are
the easiest ones, because you just get to work with the information that is
already given, you don't have to invent anything as you usually do on your
writing and speaking sections. So let's just get right into it! Today all the
examples that I will show you are taken from the actual IELTS tests, so please do
not comment down below: "oh these questions are so easy, I wish
they were like that in the actual IELTS test". They are! Because they are taken
from the actual papers guys! Now, what makes you feel they are easy is the
structure that I provide to you and the strategies that I give you and when I use
them it really feels that everything is super easy because it is! I really try to
make everything look and sound easy because of the skills that are use and
the strategies that I use. Again and again - it is the strategy which makes it
easy not the actual questions, because the actual questions are from the real
IELTS tests. Now that we have clarified that - let's start. Will work today on
three different maps and how we will structure it - so first I will show you
them up here and then we will listen to the recording and you will try to do it
on your own just listening to the recording. Try to answer all the
questions on the map and then after that we will do it together and I will show
you what sentences exactly contain the correct answers and how to locate them.
And as always you are able to download the worksheets with these practice from
the description box down below; I have linked everything. You can download and
print them with the maps, with the transcripts, with the answers so that you
can just go back to this video and practice on your own. So we're starting
with the first map. Listen to the recording let's get on with a map.
You've already got a version of it in your brochures so if you can open them
to the last page so we can have a look. Very well, as I showed you before the
actual school is right over there in the middle. That's where you'll be having
most of your classes. Adjacent to it you'll find the main hall which is where
we'll be hosting most events such as today's lunch. On the left from the main
building you'll find a smaller building which is where the accommodation and
welfare offices are located. This is labeled as the garden office at the
front and it's easy to spot because it has a green door. Each of you is assigned
to a different residence hall. We've got three residence halls in total: one on
the left and two on the right. The one right next to the garden office is
Ursula hall named after our founder's sister, while the other two are Peter
Hall and William hall. Now as you can see, there are three more buildings to the
left of the semicircle here and one more building on the right-hand side next to
William hall, so that one which is shaped a bit like a dome is the pavilion. This
is where all your letters will be delivered and in the basement floor
you'll also find a launderette. Please make sure you've got plenty of one-pound
coins as you'll need one for the washing machine and another for the dryer. And
that row of buildings on the left the one closest to us here at the gate is
the canteen, where you'll be able to buy snacks as well as breakfast lunch and
dinner on days when we don't have an event with food provided. The next one is
the gym which is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Monday to Friday and until 10
p.m. at the weekend. And the last building right over there is the study
center where you'll find plenty of computers and books as well as a great
selection of DVDs and magazines that you can borrow with only a small refundable
deposit of five pounds. Now let's try to do it together! The first thing that you
usually do with your maps is reading them, trying to anticipate
what is going to happen basically in the recording and this is the most useful
skills you can imagine in your IELTS test because you will be only given 30
seconds for each question on your listening and those 30 seconds should be
really spent on trying to understand the whole map and trying to visualize it
in your head. And then anticipating what kind of parts of the speech what
kind of words you're looking forward to and this just really helps you and saves
so much time! Now here is the map that we will be working with right now and here
on my table I have my laptop with the transcript so that I will read it out
loud the correct sentences with answers and if you see me looking there it's
just I'm looking up my laptop. Okay let's have a look at this map. First what do we
see we're really seen this is probably a plan of a school campus because we have
a school right on top of it and then it is surrounded by holes gym and all those
things that you probably usually see at a school campus and therefore we
probably will hear words that correspond to the school layout right and if you
see for instance on the left and on the right you see there are holes or so a
hole and William hall and probably you can anticipate that number 17 will also
be a hole and the number 17 would probably also be a name because you see
that william hole and a sewer hole have names of people like proper nouns in the
beginning and therefore number 17 is probably a proper noun this is already
the anticipation what can be number 16 15 19 20 and 18 we don't know right now
however what is also useful is that you right now understand that the speaker
will go round the numbers so they will start from number 16 from number 50
I'm sorry and then go to 16 17 18 19 and 20 this is already a huge hint because
this is how you understand okay we'll probably start from number 15 and then
we'll go through the numbers understandable right so the speaker
starts from poet in out at the school building this is where they start and
then she says that's where you'll be having most of your classes and just to
it you'll find the main hole which is where we'll be hosting most events such
as today's lunch so the main hole is probably somewhere adjusting to the
school it's either number 16 or number 15 right but we know that we start from
number 15 so probably number 15 is the main hole
however we went Hardison sure we will just wait until the next sentence and
then she says on the left from the main building you'll find a smaller building
which is where the accommodation and welfare office is allocated right so
this is our number 16 what's the name of it she says then this is labeled as the
garden office at the front so it's easy to spot because it has a green door so
this is number 16 is the garden office right pretty straightforward
very clear now we understand that number 15 is the main hall and number 16 is the
garden office moving forward number 17 we already see on the map is probably a
hole name right and correct in the next paragraph she says the one right next to
the garden office is also a hole it's already on the map named after our
founders sister while the other two are Peter hole and william hole since we
already have william hole on our map our correct answer for 17th question is
Peter because Hall is already present so Peter is the correct answer and remember
capital letters matter a lot in this test
so you either should write everything capitalized if you're not sure
the correct capitalization or be prepared that William or Sula are proper
nouns and Pierre is also a proper noun so it will be capitalized next building
that they are talking about is number 18 and this is on the right to the Williams
hull and surprisingly enough this is what she tells you in your recording she
says the building on the right hand side to the William hall so that one which is
shaped a bit like a dome is the pavilion so our number 18 is pavilion and then
they jump to describing the buildings on the left where she says the one closest
to us here and the gate is the canteen right there standing at the gate so the
one closest number 19 is the continue this is the correct answer and lastly we
only have one left and she says the last building right over there is this study
center quite easy right we made it look very easy how did we do it
first we ran through the whole map we'll look at it which rights to anticipate
what kind of answers are we going to hear then we tried to understand should
some words be capitalized or not and if yes how then we also trying to figure
out where do we stand and how the speakers will be going through the
buildings and we know that they will go through the first number until the last
one from the fifteenth until the twentieth and this is what really helped
us to understand how to allocate ourselves on the map to the next one now
if I could draw your attention to the back page of your joining instructions
booklet you will see a small map of this campus dingle wood the block we are in
now the office in administration block is located between the languages center
block 38 and the physics school block 30 that's 300 these are both on the right
side of the plan
the cafeteria which is open from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. is on the left of the
plan it is between the chemistry block number 35 and the University shop block
33 at the university shop you can get all you will need in terms of course
materials the biology block is block number 29 and you'll find the biology
block between the chemistry block and the languages Center be careful with the
numbers as they are not always logical as you will see there are gardens on the
right-hand side of the gate these are being extended over the next two months
and a memorial fountain is being installed in the middle of the campus
this means that the campus will be very noisy during normal working hours
however the campus will look much nicer when it's all finished right so that's
it for your initial campus orientation at this point could the language
students all follow me please and the rest of you please assemble under the
banners which show your main topic of study and you will be directed to the
other campuses ok let's try together here is the pneuma and what do we see
here but clearly see that this is again either a school or a university campus
and the speaker will actually say that this is a university campus and again we
start from number 17 and then we go around the numbers until we reach 20
same stuff so the recording starts with the speakers saying the block we are in
now the office and administration block is located between the Language Center
block 38 and good physics cool block 30 that's 300k here amazing sentence
because we first of all understand where we're located and we're located and the
administration and office block right and none the other thing that is very
interesting is that how she pronounces the number she says 3 oh this is 30 very
clear however some people if they don't understand what is older they might
anticipate we'll be 0 3 0 this may be a little bit
difficult so be prepared numbers may be pronounced very
differently so 3300 is actually our number 17 and this is the physics cool
so physics will be the correct answer for number 17 then they're moving
forward to number 18 and what do we see there she's done starts talking about
cafeteria and she says that it is between the chemistry block number 35
and the university shop block number 33 this is our question number 18 right
block 33 University shop shop is the correct answer
because we already have the University on our map now straight after that we're
going to the block 29 and she says the biology block is the block number 29
bingo our question number 19 is salt this is in biology biology is the right
word here and we only have left number 20 and a little bit later
indeed she will say and a memorial fountain is being installed in the
middle of the campus clearly number 20 is in the middle of the whole campus it
is very understandable very clear to gather that the memorial fountain is the
answer to question number 20 and the rest of the things that are being
discussed in the recording are not relevant anymore to than that because
you have already solved it now we still have one more map to go listen to it
right follow me and I'll show you the layout of the museum from the museum we
can pass through this door near the interactive display into the staff room
from here you can see the steps at the far side in the opposite corner that
lead outside into barracks Street when you arrive for a shift it will be much
easier for you all to come in the barrack Street entrance directly down
the steps to the staff room if you come in through the main visitor entrance it
will take you longer to get past security as you can all see there are
lockers on your right-hand side they should be big enough for you to put
your bags and coats in you'll get given keys later that work with any of the
lockers in here over on the other side the lockers is our most exciting area
this is where our wardrobe the makeup will take place every shift you will be
transformed from normal people into grotesque med evil prisoners if you're
lucky you get to be the jailer but even they rarely bathed in those
days of course some of you might consider yourselves method actors but
please do try to shower before your shift we don't want to give visitors an
experience that's too authentic now we do have a staff shower here if you
really need it it is located next to the staff toilets
which are unisex I hope nobody has too much of a problem with that
unfortunately dungeons were not really designed with comfort in mind you can
find the bathroom at the other end of the room from the makeup area there is
also another toilet for the public concealed just to the right of the door
into this room let's move back into the museum we have three main sections down
here the first one you pass into when you leave the staff room is the museum
this is where all the useful information can be found such as dates number of
prisoners and the kinds of torture that were used I know it's a lot of
information to take in on your first day but try to learn as much of it as you
can even though you'll mostly be in character visitors might want to ask you
some questions and it would be great if you could tell them more about the
dungeons I think it would be more interesting if visitors could learn
directly from you rather than having to read about it as you can see on the left
we have an interactive display for children and on the right we have a
photo booth this was the original dungeon first built in 1435 now let's
pass through into the main dungeon that was added during the Tudor period in
around 1570 you might be able to feel that the air is a lot damper and cooler
here that is because we are now beneath the river Stevens this is primarily the
room in which most of you will be working this is where many high profile
religious figures were held times four years on end depending on the
roles you will be playing you can either be chained up free to roam or if you're
a jailer wandering between prisoners to keep an eye on them okay this one might
seem a little bit more difficult because this is the plan of dungeons such a
fancy word right well what it means it means that me will be looking at a
museum right now and we kind of can anticipate where we are located we can
be either and the main entrance right over there or we can be at the staff
entrance so the speaker starts showing the layout of the museum right and
hisses from the museum we can pass through this door near the interactive
display into this tough room so the staff room is the first thing that we
see where we are going in missus number fourteen our answer already
is there number fourteen this tough room because this is where we are right now
and we can and also later when you are listening to the recording you will
understand that these things that he describes in that room are just located
there and you see that on the map so for instance his has from here you can see
this tabs at the far side again steps are right there it's number 15 steps but
if you are still not sure whether number 14 is tough room and number 15 is this
Paris when you're listening a little bit further in the recording it becomes
quite clear because he says when you arrive for a shift it will be much
easier for you all to come in the Bourbon Street entrance directly down
the steps to the staff room so this sentence summarizes the whole thing and
we really understand that number 14 is the staff room and number 15 is the
steps they give us an additional hint then we are moving on to the number 16
and since we have spent some time in to try to anticipate what is there now it's
kind of easy to understand that when they go around building
and they will go around the building a lot and actually number 16 is a little
bit further in the recording but you will hear the hisses now we do have a
staff shower here if you really need it it is located next to the stuff toilets
which are unisex and actually staff toilets is the answer to our question
number 16 how do we get it how to be understanded well we just see that
showers are indicated there on the map and next to them we have the toilets
quite easy and then we also see that on our left the whole staff area has
already been described so we are kind of moving out of the staff area to the
visitors area and on the brink of them we have the staff toilet again quite
clear from the map itself so we only have two things left and again we can
kind of anticipate what they're going to be number 17 is located in the middle of
a huge area so this probably will be a name of that big area right and we will
hear it and then number 18 is in the bottom it is a small thing and probably
it's definitely not not a big area and we again will be prepared to hear that
word and clearly the speaker says let's move back into the museum we have three
main sections down here the first one you pass into when you leave this tough
room and this is what we have just done we have left this tough room is the
museum so since you leave this tough room you get into the museum directly
and this is the correct answer to our question number 17 because everything
else that he will describe is already located on the map only the museum is
not located it's for us to understand and luckily we are only left with one
simple and very small thing in the bottom of the map and this is number 18
what is that so the speaker's has as you can see on the Left we have the
interactive display for children again it's on the map and on the right we have
a photo bus so opposite to the interactive display we have a photobooth
which is on the right from them and this is the correct answer to our
question number 18 so this one was a little bit more difficult but again take
your time to anticipate and to study the whole map maybe even to visualize it in
your own mind so that when you are hearing it correct words you can
actually spot them and understand okay I am here and go in there this is what I
see on the opposite this is what I see on my right side on my left side etc etc
right thank you so much for being here again you can download the whole
worksheet with all the tests and maps and transcripts and answers from the
link in description box down below it's linked as always and thank you so much
for taking time to be here I will be delighted to see you again here next
time ciao

Tutorial: Folletto Portafortuna ad Uncinetto - Duration: 30:17.
Hello everyone, in the tutorial today,
let's make these goblins bring luck to crochet
we can choose to make them in the Christmas version
or in the classic version, for the whole year
therefore, an elf brings luck to give or keep at home
in particular, today we do this
we will see together all the pieces that make up the elf
the assembly and then
we will see all 3 ways to decorate them
embroidery, holly with berries and flowers
there are many other ways to decorate these elves,
the limit is only the imagination,
while I show you these 3
as always, it's a quick project to do
and beautiful to give away or to keep at home
so stop the chatter and let's start the tutorial
to make the elves, I used this yarn
the label recommends a 4mm crochet hook
50% wool, 50% acrylic
for projects like this, you can use whatever yarn you prefer
the important thing is that the size of the crochet hook is right for the yarn, and for the way you crochet
we need:
a yarn in different colors, indicated for a 4mm crochet hook
scissor, a 3mm crochet hook
a woolen needle, a scoreboard, and some cotton wool
optional, for decorations: needle and thread, beads of various types, and bells
For the hat: we start with a magic ring
round 1: 5sc (5)
we pull the thread to close the ring
we work crochet, in spiral, so I suggest you mark the beginning of the lap, with a marker or a thread
round 2-7: 5sc (5)
when we do not make increases, the crochet work tends to curl up on itself
then we immediately overturn the crochet work,
on the straight side, especially if we have few stitches
so we can see the stitches well
and we continue
round 8: 1inc 4sc (6)
round 9-10: 6sc
round 11: 1inc 5sc (7)
round 12-13: 7sc (7)
round 14: 1sc (1inc 2sc)x2 (9)
round 15-16: 9sc (9)
round 17: (1inc 2sc)x3 (12)
round 18-19: 12sc (12)
round 20: (1inc 3sc)x3 (15)
round 21-22: 15sc
round 23: (1inc 4sc)x3 (18)
round 24-25: 18sc
round 26: (1inc 5sc)x3 (21)
round 27: (1inc 6sc)x3 (24)
round 28: (1inc 7sc)x3 (27)
round 29: (1inc 8sc)x3 (30)
round 30: (2sc 1inc)x10 (40)
round 31: ch1, 40 +1 shrimp stitch
it is like the sc but instead of entering the next stitch,
we enter the previous one
when all the round is woven
we weave another shrimp stitch, in the 1st sc of the previous round
and cut a long tail of yarn
also for the head we start with a magic ring
round 1: 6sc (6)
round 2: 6inc (12)
round 3: (1sc 1inc)x6 (18)
round 4: (2sc 1inc)x6 (24)
round 5: (3sc 1inc)x6 (30)
round 6-7: 30sc (30)
round 8: (3sc 1dec)x6 (24)
round 9: (2sc 1dec)x6 (18)
round 10: (1sc 1dec)x6 (12)
fill with cotton wool
round 11: 6dec (6)
we cut the yarn
extract the crochet hook and remove the marker
let's thread the thread in a woolen needle
we close the hole passing only for the external loop of the chain, of the 6 stitch
we pull the thread to close, knot and hide the thread
for the nose we start with a magic ring
round 1: 4sc (4)
round 2: (1inc 1sc)x2 (6)
we straighten the crochet work
round 3: 6sc (6)
we cut a long yarn
fill the nose with a bit of wadding
or with the thread of the magic ring
we close the hole like we did for the head
for the boot: we start with a magic ring
round 1: 5sc
round 2: 5inc
round 3-4: 10sc (10)
from here we start to weave in rows
row 5-6: ch1, 8sc, turn the work
row 7: ch1, 2sc, 2dec, 2sc
now let's start weaving in a circle
around the rows
round 8: ch1, turn the work ...
1dec ( taking the last and the first stitch of row 7)
in this stitch we put a marker
4sc (1 for each crochet row)
1dec (between the 2 free stitches of the round 4)
we finish the round, weaving 3sc, 1 for each row
with this round we have created a new circular crochet work
there are 9 stitches in the 8th round
the 1st is where the marker is
we remove the marker and we weave from that stitch
round 9-12: 9sc (9)
round 13: (1inc 2sc)x3, 3slst (12)
ch1 and cut a long tail of yarn
we bend over itself, the leg part of the boot
in this way
fill with a little cotton wool
insert the thread into a wool needle
we close the hole in the heel
sewing with some stitches
in this way
we report the thread on the edge of the boot
we port the thread on the edge of the boot
for the leg: we make a slip knot
ch8
starting from the 2nd ch from the hook we weave 7slst
ch1 and cut the yarn
this is the leg
sew the leg to the boot,
watch the video to see how to sew, explain better than words
the leg is sewn.
with these stitches we tightened the boot on the leg
knot in the back, and hide the thread
let's make another boot with the leg, like this
first we sew the legs to the head
put the part of the increases down,
so you will see the most beautiful part of crocheting
to see how to sew look at the tutorial ;-)
check that the tips of the boots are on the front
do not pull the threads too much or the head will be crushed
we sew the nose between the 6th and 7th rounds of the head
when it is sewn, we bring the thread to a point
that will be hidden by the cap, we knot and hide
for the hat: first we connect the round of the shrimp stitch
as you can see in the tutorial
and knot on the back
the hat is ready
we place it on the head of the elf
almost completely covering the back of the head
and in front of everything around the nose
in this way
position it as you prefer, and fasten it with pins
when it is fixed, sew it with a round of stitches
watch the video to understand how to do it
when the seam is complete,
we knot in a hidden point, and we hide the thread
the elf is completed
now let's see how to do this and other decorations
to do this type of embroidery, which is called the "chain stitch"
we use a long piece of yarn, and a wool needle
let's start from the back side
for example, I want to embroider this crochet line
insert the needle into a hole, a couple of round higher
and we go out from one of the holes
in the round we want to embroider
we leave a tail of yarn, to be able to tie at the end of the work
for how to embroider the chain stitch, look at the tutorial
having woven the hat with a spiral crocheting,
at some point the round we are embroidering deviates from the beginning of the embroidery
so we must connect the beginning and the end
to do it we trick a bit
instead of entering the next hole
we enter halfway between one round and another
we close the round like in the pictures
let the thread out, from the same hole as the thread tail
try not to hook the wool but to get out of the hole
we knot and hide the threads
do not pull too much, otherwise the first and last chain will tighten
in the same way we can embroider the boots
or make more rows of embroidery on the hat
we decorate the edge of the boots in the same way
when the embroidery of the boots is completed
we can free our imagination
and decorate the elves as we prefer
for the elf we did together
I embroidered snowflakes
simply embroidering an asterisk shape
to knot and hide the threads I used the same technique that we used for the chain stitch
I left a wire tail at the beginning, and I used it to tie at the end of the embroidery
and I added a bell on the tip of the hat
for the red elf
I embroidered several lines of chain stitch
and I added mistletoe on the hat
I sewed a bead and leaves,
and now let's see how to do it
the third elf is not Christmas,
is an elf to keep at home all year
like good luck elf
I drew a flower with wooden beads
but of course, we decorate them as we like
for the holly leaf, let's make a magic ring
we weave 1slst, 1sc, 1hdc, ch 2
1slst on the hdc, 1sc, 1slst
we pull the thread to close the ring
we finish the leaf by weaving 1slst on the 1st slst of the round
ch 1 and cut a long yarn
repeat this pattern for all the leaves you want
for today the tutorial ends here
I really hope you enjoyed this tutorial
I like them very much,
I'm very satisfied and I really hope they like you too
among the 3 I do not know which one to choose ...
maybe maybe the elf we did together
and which one do you prefer?
but above all, how will you decorate yours?

Failed Vlog and Travel Plans? | Vlogmas Day 16 - Duration: 3:33.
A lot of traveling. I'm looking forward to that!
Hello, I'm Rogan and welcome to Vlogmas day 16.
Today, my vision was a vlog of my day, because I actually went down to Seattle for an event with PSAD,
Puget Sound Association of the Deaf. An all-day thing. I arrived in the afternoon, and stayed there until evening.
And... I thought, vlog! Why not?
This is what I got.
Yeah, so I clearly didn't vlog anything. When I arrived, I said hello to my friends, and just...
Kind of forgot?
I need to do something for Vlogmas. I'm not going to just end and say that's the vlog.
So I thought I would talk a little bit about my mostly-set plans for January.
January 1st, I probably will go to Seattle. Friends are getting together to watch the Rose Bowl.
It will be interesting, because the person who's hosting it is from Ohio. So their home state team is the Buckeyes.
And... They're competing against the UW Huskies. That will be interesting.
Then the next day, January 2nd, I will be going to Portland to visit my best friend for a couple days.
I may meet up with some other people too, I don't know.
Then after a couple days, I will be going to Salem, Oregon. Because last time I went was for work.
A full week of work, I had no time to even explore the city or the area or whatever.
So this time, I'm going just for having fun. And also, going to TEDxSalem.
I'll be going to that, then hanging out in Salem for a few days. I'm looking forward to that.
Then back home for for a while until January 17th.
I will be flying down to San Leandro to work a little bit, then down to LA for a couple weeks.
At the end of that two weeks, work again for a while.
I'm looking forward to that too, because LA for two weeks, visiting, staying at a friend's place,
visiting other friends, just having fun.
I'm looking forward to doing things that I didn't have the time or chance to do last time.
So that's my January plans. A lot of traveling. I'm looking forward to that!
Let me know if there's anywhere in Portland, Salem, or LA that I should check out while I'm there.
And, I've already been to The Last Bookstore. (text:Powell's too, duh) I probably will visit again.
So that is done, yes, checked, already been there.
Other places? It doesn't necessarily have to be in town.
Accessible by metro or public transportation would be great.
I think that's it for today's video. We're approaching Christmas really fast.

Classic bike review: 1938, CWS M111 (Sokół 1000). Part 2. - Duration: 8:18.
Jeszcze Polska nie zginęła, kiedy my żyjemy!
This bike is beautiful, like everything else in Poland!
Since the beginning of time, it is well known that Russian and
Polish women are considered the most beautiful women in Europe.
The Polish have done a fine job on the bike!
1000 cc V-Twin engine is a mix of the Harley and Indian,
The original chassis based on the Harley model.
It works perfectly - better than Harley and better than Indian -
I'm talking about its on-road performance.
The Sokol model 1000 is a proof that the Poles
had the advanced, reliable and easily
maintainable vehicles back in the days.
"Pay attention to the sidecar! Mark rode nicely just now
and then he nearly hit it... I see that you're not looking around, you just go.
Just keep it in mind, that's all."
1000 cc V-Twin side-valve engine.
Electrical equipment hidden behind the engine
in order to protect it from dirt.
The Poles deserve credit for building this carburetor
from scratch. It doesn't even look like Schebler...
Look, it's got a foot clutch like all the rest of the American bikes.
But look what the Poles have done to it. We switch it on and... Voilà!
A return spring makes everyday riding comfortable
and it was of great use under wartime condition.
This model was manufactured in Warsaw -
that's what the inscription on the carter says.
The kick-start lever moves like this.
The Harley has it on the opposite side, remember?
One could say that the engine is a mix of the Harley
and Indian, but the Poles would most likely say that
it was designed by Polish engineers, that it's unique.
Well... We'll agree with our polish brothers.
It looks a lot like the Harley-Davidson VL engine from 1930s.
The horn imitates the "authentic" sound...
...the sound of motorcycles of the 1920s.
Here are the steering damper and the original Harley's fork.
We gotta admit, the Poles made a great motorcycle!
The engineers from Warsaw knew their business!
A common feature for all American motorcycles
is that the gas tank is divided into two parts:
the fuel goes here, and the oil goes there.
Here we have the oil pump
[in case of heavy workload,
it adds oil and keeps the engine working].
This top-up syringe might come in handy in cold conditions.
It allows to add more fuel into the carburetor straight from
the gas tank. According to the engineers,
it makes it easier to start the bike.
I wanna show you how the lubrication system of this motorcycle works.
it's very peculiar but so wisely made.
Look, the oil pump is over here. It's covered by the exhaust pipe
so it's protected from all the dirt that the front wheel throws.
There is also the hidden distributor.
But look, there is no way water could get up there.
Here is one unusual detail - it is a leaf spring
that provides a smoother ride for the sidecar.
You won't see anything like that on any other
motorcycle in the world. Not today, not ever.
When we say "Poles", we mean "proud".
This motorcycle is an icon for our Polish brothers.
Subscribe to our YouTube channel, come visit us
and then maybe you'll make
the Polish "Falcon" fly!

Episode 41: Teamwork in Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 - Duration: 12:59.
This is María and this is Hester. Together we are the CONSORT COUNSELLORS!
Today we would like to talk about a composition that every recorder duo wants to play at least once in their life:
the Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 by Johann Sebastian Bach.
This concerto is in G major and is scored for solo violin, two recorders, strings and continuo.
Later, Bach made a version in F major in which the solo violin is replaced by harpsichord,
but the recorder parts stayed almost identical.
Bach assigned the recorder parts in the fourth Brandenburg to "Fiauti d'Echo",
which is quite an uncommon term in the 18th century. What did he exactly mean by that?
Is he talking about recorders in F... or maybe in G?
Or about a completely different instrument, maybe even one that sounds an octave higher?
Or is he rather describing how the piece works? Because the recorders are sort of "echoing" the violin,
or even echoing themselves in the second movement, in which there is a "forte" and "piano" effect.
Musicologists and performers have been discussing this issue for decades!
Although there's not a final or incontestable conclusion,
enough experts assume that "Fiauti d'Echo" are just 'normal' alto recorders in F... so that's what we brought today!
One of the many reasons why we, the Consort Counsellors, really appreciate and love this concerto
is that the two recorders truly act as a team over the course of the composition.
They are such a tight team that they almost sound like one instrument!
So, being a bit opportunistic, you could say that this is a concerto for solo violin, a tiny recorder consort and strings!
Bach had a very good reason to use two recorders: balance.
By having two recorders rather than one, we achieve a louder and richer sound
which is much more audible within the orchestra.
In contrast with a very virtuosic, almost frantic violin soloist,
the recorders play much more simple parts but with the extra eloquence of counterpoint.
If you listen very carefully to the concerto, or if you look at the score, you will easily discover
that the two recorders are always playing at the same time.
They don't get any individual solos or "moments of glory" except for a few bars in the second movement.
Bach assigned these few bars to the lucky Player One.
These are the only moments where Bach put only one recorder player "in the spotlight".
However, if you are Player One in the F Major version for harpsichord and two recorders
you are slightly less lucky, because in the second movement Bach took the melody away from the recorders
and gave it to the harpsichord. All Recorder One gets to play is a simple but beautiful chromatic line.
In the rest of the concerto, the recorders always stick together as a team. Let's see in which ways!
The third movement of this concerto is fugal and alternates between tutti and solo passages.
To make sure that the recorders are audible in the tutti sections, Bach lets them play in unison in a rather high register.
A great recipe to play very well in unison is the TRIPLE S! That stands for Sound, Sharing and Sympathy.
Sound, because both players should play with a good and beautiful individual sound
Sharing! There should be a common idea about direction, phrasing, articulation and length.
...and Sympathy in the sense of mutual understanding. In this concerto, although officially we are called
Recorder 1 and Recorder 2, there is not a ranking in which player 1 is more important than player 2.
Teamwork is the key!
In a way, fugal passages are the complete opposite of unison playing,
since we can play with much more independence. In a fugue, different elements travel through the voices
at different times, and we all get to play them and make them our own.
Play a lot with colouring, vibrato and very subtle timings within the bar,
so that, while fitting in the perfect and complex structure of the fugue,
you still can give the music your own colour and personality.
Imitation takes shape in many ways in Baroque music. The opposite of the long fugal lines we just discussed
may be the little and simple imitation going on in the first movement.
Even in such a little imitation game we really need to think like a team,
otherwise, the line in the music will be broken, there will be no continuity from beginning until end.
If our ideas are too personal and too different, it may end up sounding a bit far-fetched...
The opposite can also happen, of course... that we 'erase' our own input so much
that the total becomes too plain and therefore a bit dull... blank!
There is a lot of parallel motion going on in the Brandenburg Concerto,
where the two recorders play exactly the same material but a third or a sixth apart.
Small differences in phrasing, articulation, length and timing may make parallel playing seem very sloppy.
Do your sound, articulation, length and timing match?
To get closer to each other's sound take a small fragment and play this over and over in a loop.
This kind of teamwork features different musical material in each of the voices.
A very important motive in the first movement, for example, features a low note for the first player...
...and a nice row of semiquavers (16th notes) for the second.
These contrasting motives match perfectly and if the players understand each other well
they can create a nice gesture together.
Needless to say, this is very important material, because the piece starts like this!
How can you make a convincing gesture together? Often, in Baroque music you can look at the harmony.
It will give you important hints about the direction of a certain gesture.
In this case, for example, we start always on the tonic
then we go to the dominant, and on the last bar we come back to the tonic,
which means: rest - tension - rest, one - TWO - three.
As we've seen, the Brandenburg Concerto No. 4is full of teamwork!
We hope that after watching this video you feel like listening to this concerto over and over again.
And, of course, that you will also like to give it a try with a friend!
You are going to learn a lot about Bach, his composition, your colleagues and yourself!
As we discussed in the beginning of this video, there are many possible interpretations of the term "Fiauti d'Echo".
One of the many possible meanings is a construction of two recorders joined together.
They differ slightly in pitch and you can quickly change between one and the other.
And since they differ slightly in pitch, you can create a real 'echo'.
In this video of the ensemble Voices of Music you can see how that sounds and how it looks.
If you are interested in watching some different versions of the Brandenburg Concerto No. 4,
we leave you a few selected videos in the description of our clip.
Of course, we are curious to know what your favourite version is of the fourth Brandenburg concerto.
Let us know so we can all listen to it! Have a nice week! See you next time! Bye!
