"Stunning isn't it?
That weapon… is beyond special.
A witness to the slaughter of our founder.
And my ally in vengeance against those responsible.
Lightbearers.
Just.
Like.
You.
You are not welcome here Guardian" Welcome back guardians.
Today we are going to discuss the backstory, the Origins of Ada-1, the Exo vender for the
season of the Black Armory.
If you plan on reading all the new lore entries about the Black Armory, I recommend that you
do that first because it is one of those stories that doesn't reveal Ada's true history
until the very last entry.
Alternatively, you may choose to read the entries in order on Ishtar collective, or
of course you can watch this video, and I will do my best to maintain this story structure,
so you get the big reveal at the end, and hopefully you get the same feeling as discovering
it for yourself.

[INTRO] The story of the Black Armory starts with
a woman named Henriette and her daughter during the golden age.
Henriette does not view the Traveler as a good thing, in fact, Henriette believes that
the Traveler has made humanity complacent and unprepared for the future.
Henriette is therefore determined to ensure her daughter does not place blind trust in
the Traveler.
Entry 10 from the lore book: The Black Armory Papers reads,
"My daughter's not old enough yet to comprehend the Traveler.
But she is impressionable enough to become weakened by it like the rest of society,
should I let her.
I will not let her."
Henriette would later discover that her greatest concern may eventuate, they are not alone
in the universe, and there is another force out there that wishes humanity harm.
Henriette mentions that they have detected an anomaly, which I suspect is the coming
of the Darkness.
This sparks Henriette to be even more prepared and independent from the Traveler.
Entry 25 from the lore book: The Black Armory reads,
We are not alone with the Traveler.
Something else has been detected out there.
An anomaly of sorts.
I'm lucky to have friends in informative places who tell me these things.
They don't know what it is.
But there is something.
Could be another Traveler.
Could just be a wonky radio wave.
Or could be something really bad.
On the off chance it IS something to be concerned about, shouldn't we be prepared to deal with
it head-on before it arrives?
Something that the "powers that be" would never sanction.
But like I've said in the past, we don't know what else is out there in the universe.
What we, or our children, or our children's children might have to face one day.
We will be prepared.
Fearing an impending attack, even though Henriette does not what they are defending against,
she founds the Black Armory.
The other co-founders are Helga and Yuki.
Helga is in-fact a previous Clovis Bray employee and handles the business side of the Armory
and Yuki, is an engineer.
The Armory is about the protection of family, hence why it is referred to as being founded
by three families, Henriette the French family, Helga the Norse family and Yuki the Japanese
family.
Entry 37 from the Lore book: The Black Armory reads,
Every day I get to admire these women and everything they do right.
They put so much of themselves into our work.
Their soul, their heritage.
And they do it all for the cause.
We've become one big family.
I couldn't be happier.
The Darkness has not arrived yet, however the pending anomaly continues to grow concern
for humanity, and Helga and Yuki are keen to weaponize humanity in preparation for an
attack.
Helga and Yuki designed mobile weapon factories that can placed around the world to arm civilization.
I assume these weapon factories are in-fact the forges we see in-game.
Henriette doesn't like the idea of growing too fast and providing weapons to others without
oversight.
Entry 41 from the Lore book: The Black Armory reads,
We're growing fast.
Too fast.
Which means mass production.
Which in turn means less control over our work.
How it's distributed, who it's distributed to, etc.
It means more weapons to defend ourselves, yes, but not in every single person's hands.
That was not my vision.
Power without control leads to chaos.
It's a give and take.
Despite her concerns, Henriette signs off on the mobile weapon factories and they are
approved.
The founders Henriette, Helga and Yuki continue to disagree about the purpose of the Armory.
While Henriette approved the mobile armories, despite it disagreeing with her philosophy,
she straight out refuses Helga's next proposal.
Helga, who has origins with Clovis bray, proposed that they combine Exo technology with the
Armory technology.
At this stage we don't know exactly what this looks like, however Henriette refused
the proposal.
Entry 50 from the Lore book: The Black Armory reads,
Exos.
I never liked the idea of them in the first place.
They're not Humans.
They don't have a soul.
They're nothing but the experiments of Humans playing God.
Since when has that gone well?
If one day they decide they don't like the rest of us, what recourse do we have?
It'll be slaughter.
Thinking about combining that technology with ours makes me sick.
Eventually, the Collapse occurs, the Darkness arrives, and I believe Henriette encounters
the Fallen.
It does not specifically name the Fallen, however her encounters with them makes me
think it is the Fallen.
That being said it could be another un-named enemy.
Henriette locks herself into a Black Armory facility, however they are raided at night,
and one of the co-founders, Helga, is killed.
In addition, Henriette's daughter is injured during the attack, becoming unconscious.
The text doesn't say exactly what happened, but Henriette's daughter would later die.
Forced by desperation, Henriette now approves Project Niobe, which is the project to combine
Exo technology with the Black Armory.
In my opinion, the goal of Project Niobe was to be able to use an Exo like a forge, that
somehow an Exo would contain the information of the Black Armory and could materialize
weapons, or at least modify or make the weapons more powerful, well that is my interpretation.
Have a listen to Entry 104 from the Lore book: The Black Armory, it reads
We had some downtime, so Yuki wanted to test the Exo's new functionality.
This was the entire purpose of the Exo in the first place.
Project Niobe.
Helga's great experiment to make our weapons more deadly through a sort of on-the-spot
phase transition of the guns.
In other words, a walking, talking forge.
So now, Henriette, Yuki, three others from the Black Armory and an Exo from the newly
approved Project Niobe abandon the lab and are travelling, trying to escape the devastation.
They encounter humans vs humans, and they also have their first encounter with Guardians,
not Guardians as we know them today, but the Risen.
Entry 104 from the Lore book: The Black Armory reads,
They were definitely not regular Humans.
They had… abilities.
That the rest of us don't.
We took one down, we thought.
But then his little red drone lit up and he was on his feet again.
We kept firing.
They didn't expect to run into an armory on foot, so they ran.
But not before killing some of us and wounding Yuki.
Yuki would later die protecting her Black Armory family from the Risen.
The Risen had returned to attack Henriette and her group because they wanted to claim
the Exo, because of how powerful the Exo was during the battle.
This is where I get the impression that the Black Armory Exo could make weapons more powerful
by connecting to them.
Entry 108 from the Lore book: The Black Armory reads,
One of the men who had attacked us returned.
This time with an offer.
He wanted the Exo.
He had seen what she was capable of back at the truck.
How she turned our weapons into something even more deadly with nothing but her hands.
The Exo stood, willing to sacrifice herself for us.
There is an item also referred to in the lore known as the Obsidian Accelerator, this seems
to be linked to the Exo and the Exo's forge power.
After the next Guardian attack, only Heriette and the Exo remain.
It is during their journey that we discover how innocent the Exo is, and how the Exo does
not understand anything about the world.
For example, take how the Exo thought cars were like her, alive.
Entry 116 from the Lore book: The Black Armory reads,
We came across the remains of a petrol-burning car in the forest and she asked if it could
still be alive.
I had to explain it was never alive.
Those machines had no souls.
I instantly regretted saying that, because it only lead to more painful inquiries.
I told her I had a headache and needed some quiet.
Henriette is traumatized by her encounters with Guardians, essentially losing her Black
Armory family to Guardian attacks, and she says this to the Exo in Entry 143 from the
Lore book: The Black Armory, it reads, No matter what happens, if they catch you,
you must not trust them—not ever I am sure by now, you have worked out the
identity of the Exo, the Exo is Ada, an Exo with a child-like personality and an innocence
to viewing the world.
Have a listen to Entry 159 from the Lore book: The Black Armory, it reads
Today some young children and their parents asked if Ada wouldn't mind holding their hands
and talking to them.
Apparently this is their first encounter with an Exo.
She takes to them with ease.
Makes them feel comfortable like it's nothing.
Her innocence shines.
She has such a good heart.
I am sure by now, you have also worked out who Ada really is…
Ada is Henriette's daughter.
When they were attacked in the laboratory, Ada was injured, becoming unconscious, however,
before she died, Henriette transferred her mind into the Exo body.
I believe this is why the Exo, Ada, is so innocent, and doesn't quite understand the
world, she was only a child when she became an Exo.
Have a listen to Hariette final words to Ada delivered in a letter.
Does the name "Adelaide" bring you any flicker of recognition?
It is your birth name, and you heard it every day of your life until the day I sent you
without your consent into a new world.
You became Ada-1 when I robbed you of your end.
I've loved you since before you were born, and in trying to give you everything, perhaps
I've robbed you of a final human experience: a dignified death.
I know I will not see you again.
If you want to know about your past, know that you were born a second time in the Niobe
Labs.
When you were wounded at the labs and I saw you were losing your fight, I did what I always
did when the chips were down: I… created something.
You, Ada-1.
From what I had almost completely lost.
I did it out of fear of losing you forever.
I charted the course of your life and made decisions that were yours to make, not mine.
I hope you find it in your heart to forgive me for that.
Now this is not quite the end of the story.
A couple of other events occur with Henriette and Ada which solidifies Ada's hate for
Guardians, however I want to save those stories for another time.
I am also hoping that we may get some more information on the Obsidian Accelerator.
I also want to take a closer look at Ada's exo naming structure, being Ada-1, which I
believe we have all the foundation lore we need to cover that topic.
I also hope that when the forge, Project Niobe is released we may get some more information
about how Ada or Exo technology was combined with the Black Armory technology.
Ok, guardians, that will be enough lore for one day, I hope you enjoyed this latest destiny
2 lore episode, if you would like to support the channel and canont think of a comment,
you can leave the word, Adelaide, to represent Ada-1 true identity, Henriette's daughter
who killed during the collapse and converted into an Exo.
As usual, it has been a pleasure, this is myelin games.
Peace.
