Health Is Simple (Disease Is Complicated) - Duration: 9:32.
Health is really simple, but how does it work? Coming right up
Hey I'm Dr. Ekberg with Wellness For Life and if you like to truly master
health by understanding how the body really works make sure that you
subscribe and hit that notification bell so that you don't miss anything
everybody wants to be healthy everybody it's this big catch word everybody wants
to be healthy it's a good thing but very few people understand it and as a
society we think of health as the lack of disease we take better care of our
cars than we do ourselves we take our cars in for service before they break
but we wait until something happens then we have a symptom before we do something
about the body for the most part so we want to change our way of thinking about
what health is and health is when everything is working the way it's
supposed to when there is adequate function in the body and disease is the
lack of function disease cannot happen if everything is working the way it's
supposed to disease cannot develop the function in the body is everything that
the body does to maintain all of the systems and all the actions and the
digestion and the immune system and the movement and the thought and so forth
all of that is function there's something generated that results in that
function think of that as light light is something that we can see we can measure
it we can quantify it we know what what it is and function is the same way it's
something that's there it's something real but darkness doesn't exist darkness
it not is not measurable there is no source of darkness darkness is the lack
of light and disease works the same way just like darkness
it's disease is the lack of function so if you think of function as light and
the body then disease is simply the absence of that light or not enough
light okay so if we understand that then it makes no sense
to treat the disease that would be like going around to treat a shadow okay we
have a light source and we have something shading something creating a
shadow and then we wouldn't go in and try to treat the shadow do something
about the shadow we remove the thing that's shading it and that's how we have
to start thinking that the body has an infinite intelligence that manages and
balances things and if something isn't working there's something interfering
and we now have to get rid of the thing interfering we have to provide the
things that create function we have to remove the things that create
interference so think about a plant so here we have two flowers and we have the
sun shining on them but there's a fence that's shading one of them so the plants
in this case really like a lot of sunlight so the one in the Sun is very
healthy it's colorful it's strong it's very very resistant to wind and stress
but this one growing in the shade it doesn't get what it needs it's not
getting the Sun the water and the soil it might get water and soil but it's not
getting enough Sun because there's a fence shading it so it's very pale and
very weak so what would we do in this case it's really really obvious right we
just go in and we remove the fence or we remove the plant into the Sun where it
can get the things that it needs but if we think from a medical mindset of
treating symptoms with drugs by treating the problem rather than creating a
solution then we might go in and say oh that plants really really pale you got
some paint I think we need to paint it because it looks really pale yeah that
that's good so now for a little while if we do a really good job it will look a
little better but it won't be any healthier because there's a lack of
function it's not getting the things that it has to have and then we said
well it's it's kind of fragile it's almost
falling over by itself I think we need to go in and put some struts give it
some some crutches support it a little bit and again that's not gonna solve the
problem we couldn't even go one step further say oh let's give it some more
water let's give it some more some better nutrients let's plant it in
better soil but if it's not getting the Sun it has to have then it's not going
to be a healthy plant so the same thing works with humans that we don't
necessarily have those exact requirements they're similar but we have
chemical requirements because humans are we have a chemical aspect we have a
physical aspect we have an emotional aspect that can change physiology and
function so we have chemical physical and emotional requirements so these are
the things that create function these are the things that the body has to have
to produce the appropriate energy and signals and communication and so forth
nutrition from whole foods provides the resources the fuel and the building
blocks movement and signals create the signals that the brain and the body has
to have use it or lose it anything that you don't use is going to degenerate
it's going to atrophy if we don't have joy and purpose we're going to be in a
constant state of stress our body is going to start shutting down and we're
not going to function at optimum so these are the things that create the
appropriate function then and these are the ones we want to create more of we
want to put more of these into our lives then the other thing is the things that
are interfering and these we want to reduce such as toxins heavy metals and
medicine because these are all foreign to the body they are not things that fit
into in normal physiology that the body actually needs for fuel or building
blocks these are things that either interfere or treat symptoms medicine
work to reduce a symptom by blocking signals the body wants more signals it
wants function not less and so even though
medicine can treat a symptom which can be a good thing in an emergency it does
never produce more function physical if we're sedentary if we have physical
trauma if we have poor posture all of these interfere they reduce the amount
of motion that creates signals that is the juice if you will for the brain the
nutrient juice for the brain emotional if we have stress despair and overwhelm
constantly we put the body in a state of stress which will shut down it's very
destructive we can't get the body into a state of rebuilding as long as we have a
lot of these present humans have chemical physical emotional needs
plants have sun water and soil needs anything that's not there we could try
to raise a plant with water and soil but and not enough Sun but it's not going to
be a healthy plant in the long run if we try to just add physical and emotional
support but we're toxic and efficient we're not going to be healthy if we eat
right but we're worried we're not going to be healthy in the long run so optimal
health depends on addressing the body holistically addressing all the factors
that influence health so health is not the mere absence of disease disease is
the lack of enough function just like darkness is not enough light so how many
people have a dark switch at home I didn't think so
okay there is no source of darkness there is no source of disease there is
only lack of function and lack of light so we have to start understanding what
biology is and how the body works we have to stop thinking in terms of
symptoms even though emergency intervention can save a lot of lives the
emergency wants the emergency is over we have to start looking at rebuilding the
body by giving it what it needs that's the only way we can build optimum health
and long run so if you enjoy that please let me know
write down your questions your comments etc please share this with as many
people as possible because if they start understanding this then we can be a true
health instead of just treating symptoms and if you're new to the channel and you
enjoy learning more about this make sure that you subscribe and hit that
notification bell so that we can keep this content coming your way
thanks for watching

A trip to Barcelona, and Vilanova Park [CC] - Duration: 7:58.
[club music]
[record scratch]
[Patti Page singing 'How much is that doggie in the window?']
Hello, and welcome to Vilanova Park in Catalonia,
25 miles from the city of Barcelona. Why am i doing a voiceover?
Because on the only day I could film, they were doing a lot of noisy groundwork.
[noise of groundwork in the background ]
Anyway, here's a quick tour of the Villanova Park.
Spacious, hardstanding pitches although the trees can get in the way of manoeuvering.
The supermarket, Wellness Center, gift shop, and restaurant are open throughout the winter,
but the open air swimming pool isn't.
Wi-Fi is free in the bar when you buy a drink but
the day that I tried it, it unfortunately wasn't working.
[music]
A lot of the campsite appears to be sublet to tour operators, and as such
there are a lot of rental units.
To access Barcelona, there is a direct bus service
from the park gates which takes 75 minutes.
However, dogs are not allowed on the bus.
The helpful receptionist at Villanova Park
showed me on a map where we could park for free, and walk the ten minutes
to the railway station. From here we could get a direct train into Barcelona.
As well as being dog friendly, the train is also a wheelchair friendly way of
getting into the city.
[music]
When we arrived, I was already hungry and needed the loo, and the Happy Cow app on
my phone showed us this wonderful cafe in the neighbourhood; 'Sopa' meaning soup.
It was a lovely place with friendly staff and a delicious two course meal for €10.
[music]
From here on in we just wandered and rambled. Barcelona is chock-full of
amazing architecture, stunning design, and fantastic art.
[music]
The city saved the best till last in the form of the Estació de França railway terminus.
Stunning! It's up there with London St Pancras, and Antwerpen Centraal,
albeit on a smaller scale.
[music]
So that brings us to the end of our tour of Vilanova Park, and our day trip to
Barcelona. I hope you enjoyed that; if you did, you know what to do - give us a thumbs-up,
subscribe if you don't already, and it just leaves me to say from Dougal and from me...
Thanks for tuning in!

Coping With The Loss Of My Brother | Jamie's Story - Duration: 2:50.
Grief is probably the worst thing we can go through
but it is the price that we pay for love Don't go through it alone
Let's talk about it...starting today
The 15th of August 2018 That's the day that my family's life would
be altered forever My brother Craig was taken from us far too
soon Craig lived with a life long terminal condition
in his heart and lungs
But an unrelated infection was all that it took to
take him from us With a terminally ill brother you always think
he will deteriorate at a heartbreaking speed but I
will get to say goodbye
But now I just feel anger.I think it is good to be angry
In the long bleak months that followed my brother's passing,
as I attempt to navigate my way down that dark corridor
I've learned a few things I wanted to share them with you
Nobody knows the right thing to say or the right time
to say it I can remember an elderly lady asking me
if I'm over it yet She could have said,
"My thoughts are with you at this sad time" or "I've been thinking about you"
Approach with care and speak with caution to those who've just lost a loved one
but make sure that you speak to them because they don't want you not to do it
Everybody goes back to living their own lives rather quickly. Your friends head back
to work, college and uni meanwhile your world is collapsing. So forgive people's
insensitivity, for they're not even aware they're doing it
Big dates on the calendar are much harder to take
without my brother My brother's birthday was extremely hard
and I know big anniversaries and Christmases will be
really hard without him. There is always a gaping void
A presence not felt. A chair not taken You just have to ride the wave and surround
yourself with good people who will pick you up once
you've fallen down Don't be annoyed at your friends for not
always checking up on how you're doing But the 'friends' who never check up...
I choose to cut them loose One day in the distant future, you'll smile
because of a memory rather than cry because of the pain
That gut-wrenching feeling that you've become accustomed to
will subside, even just for a brief moment You will one day be free from the guilt, the
pain and the heartache. Slowly and painfully
over the years, you'll count more smiles than you'll count tears
Grief is probably the worst thing we can go through
but it is the price that we pay for love Don't go through it alone
Let's talk about it...starting today

Misogyny Terfs and Censorship - Duration: 30:16.
Before I begin, I'm going to issue this important disclaimer
The person discussed in this video and the claims against them is all taken from publicly
available information, such as their social media accounts and websites. They will try
to silence anyone who speak out against them claiming they're infringing on copyright and
spreading private information, and 'hate speech' all in an effort to get their blogs and websites
shut down. Unfortunately, they have been successful in their attempts and most recently got Meghan
Murphy banned from Twitter for speaking about this case. The social media sites mentioned
seriously need to rethink their Terms of Service enforcement since it's being abused by predators
and very ignorant people who don't want anything they say to be questioned. I'll elaborate
on that in a moment.
But first I'll end the disclaimer with an urgent call to action.
Please copy this video and get the word out all across the internet. The predator in question
will try to silence me as a result of this video. Let's not let them 'win' and continue
speaking out. They can try to shut me down, but they can't stop you from continue to get
the message out there. We can win this fight by being sensible rational people who won't
let the powers that be crush our voices no matter how hard they try. So plaster this
message everywhere, download copies in case this account gets deleted and don't let the
message die!
To begin. It's pretty ridiculous what's going on. But unfortunately women are being sexually
harassed and extorted for money in this case by a predator who is using the system against
them, by claiming to be a trans-woman, despite all evidence to the contrary.
Their social media accounts all have their male name, male photo, everything indicates
male. So when they contacted numerous salon workers, well you would assume it was a man
responding too you. And biologically, they are correct, regardless if the person is trans
or not.
So here is what is going on. Jonathan Yaniv is suing 16 salon workers for refusing to
wax his male genitalia, since they are not trained in that technique which takes a specific
type of training to do that, otherwise the results are going to be very painful and awful
and probably scarring and disfiguring. I don't know why anyone would want to have their genitalia
waxed. But people are strange.
Regardless this person once they were turned down, claimed "But, I am a woman. I'm trans,
blah-blah-blah. But that still doesn't make a difference in this case, because they still
have male genitalia. So you can't go to just any waxing salon to get that work done, since
not everyone is trained in it.
So no matter what. He would have to go to a specialist who specializes in that style
of waxing, which does exist in Vancouver. But, instead he chooses people who don't do
that style of waxing, which is suspicious in itself.
Then it turns out. No surprise. He is willing to make a lot of money by extorting these
victims, because they can't afford to fight the lawsuit in court, which would cost $35,000
dollars or more. So he is willing to drop the lawsuit for $2,500 per person.
So obviously he is playing the system here, playing the victim, when he is not a victim
of discrimination in any way shape or form. He purposely singled out these women. He purposely
lead them to believe him to be male, then claims "No I'm not" and cries discrimination,
and its lawsuit city. So he is the predator here. Not the victim.
So obviously he is using the system to get money out of this people, and, prey on them.
Because there is evidence out their that this guy is a complete perv, and a danger in my
opinion to women and children.
But Canada is protecting him, since they only refer to him as J.Y., since he is allowed
to file these lawsuits anonymously, which gives him cart-blanche to sue whoever he wants
and claim discrimination. And, it's just not right.
So what happened was. The blog Gender Trender on Wordpress did an investigation into this
story and found out his identity, which is easily available on the internet. But he's
made a lot of his accounts private, and is trying to keep the down low basically, and
hope no one notices "hey, this guy is a perv", because he is going to try to continue
winning and getting his way.
But that is where everybody here comes in. We can not let him win. It's important that
this craziness gets defeated. Because this is exactly what so called 'terfs' have been
worried about from the beginning and tried to talk to people about it, but were continually
shut down, and labeled hateful bigots and so forth.
Unfortunately, nobody can talk about this case. In Canada, the media is silent about
it, They will continue protecting his identity, and he gone after every website that has attempted
to talk about this case, exposing his scheme. And 'Gender Trender' has been shut down. So
has 'Gender Identity Watch', and Meghan Murphy has been banned from Twitter from speaking
out about this case.
And suddenly, Twitter has this new rule, policy. It's basically just a way to stifle discussion
about gender, trans issues and so forth in general, that don't go with the narrative
the movement is trying to push.
I'm going to discuss misogyny, TERFS, and censorship. For those that don't know. TERF
stands for Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminist and is exclusively directed at women, not
men, despite men committing all the atrocities against trans women and trans people in general.
Women are nowhere close to oppressing trans people as men are. Men commit rape, murder
etc in huge numbers. And yet, trans women are singling out women to attack, demean and
silence. Now why isn't their a term conjured up to label anti-trans men?
It makes no sense to me. But they've exclusively set a target on women, because as history
shows. Women have been the target of misogyny since the beginning of time and blamed for
all the problems in the world...despite women being the sole being that is able to create
life, and birth life. And yet, people constantly shit on them. Why is that?
It's because of a really nasty male entitlement attitude that they rule everything, They can
control women. Women are nothing but, birthing canals, like, "Yep, you serve no purpose
but creating babies", and that is totally dehumanizing and just plain fucked up.
10 minutes subtitled so far.
But this is unacceptable to be talked about according to trans activists and their allies,
the left in general. Because they're blanketly assuming they're saying "All trans people
are not really trans, and they're all predators and creeps and what-not." When in reality,
that is not the case as the Johnathan Yaniv story proves.
That is the perfect example of what people are concerned about when it comes to a very
loose definition of gender and just taking someone's word for it. It allows people like
Johnathan to prey on vulnerable women and children in locker rooms and bathrooms. Because,
there is nothing people can do about it. He claims to be a woman, and that's it. You just
got to run with it.
I myself have been called a terf numerous times for trying to talk about these issues
that are going on. And when you take that term literally. The definition of it. I am
a trans-woman, so how could I exclude myself?
Hm.
Yeah. It's ridiculous.
Here is what is offensive about all these attacks on women in general and silencing
them. They are the most accepting people of trans-women, and trans-men in general than
men are. And yet they are being completely walked over and shut down and you are turning
a lot of people against trans people by being assholes towards women and trying to silence
them and so forth.
Such as for myself. I have had no real negative experiences with women out in the world. I
am treated like just another woman because I just go about my life. I'm not like "I'm
trans-blah-blah-blah". I'm just me. Which is a woman, that just happens to be trans,
and I've had a very different birth history. Where basically as I say, "I was meant to
be a woman all along, but something happened along the way."
So, here is the problem that is going on. Essentially, women are being predominately
singled out and expected to accommodate everyone else, at the expense of their own womanhood,
and that is not right.
The definition of birth and pregnancy should not be changed to 'birthing people' or 'birthing
person'. Because, women give birth, not men. It's just a basic fact of life, and it doesn't
matter how the person identifies outwardly.
Then there are women colleges, where some of the women turn out to be trans-men and
they transition. Then they don't like women centered topics being discussed because the
feel 'excluded' as a man. And so, they want neutral language and so forth.
And now, a woman's college is not a woman's college anymore. Why doesn't the trans-man
just transfer to a coed university rather than expecting them to accommodate them and
change everything that makes the college what they are?
Women are oppressed, and they always have been, and they are trying to fight against
that. Which I support fully.
But what of these trans-women who constantly attack so called 'TERFS' and harass them with
rape threats, death threats and so forth?
To me, it shows they still have male entitlement, and they refuse to let that go. Thus they
think they're entitled to speak over women and silence them for any reason they want.
And rape threats and so forth are a classic male tactic used against anyone they're trying
to silence, scare off and intimidate. It''s a very male mindset. Not female.
That is not to say all trans-women have male entitlement post-transition. But they did
have male entitlement pre-transition. That's a given. You're raised male. You're going
to be treated completely different than a woman will be. And transition doesn't erase
that past history.
So women. Cis-gender women that is, that are born female and are female since birth. They
face oppression the moment they come out of the womb.
And they are objectified, sexualised and just treated as an object all their lives. This
is ingrained in them, since unfortunately it's 'the norm' with how society is.
Yet. Men, get away with murder, literally. There are cases of men raping women, and the
evidence is staggering against them, and the judge still lets them off scot-free. People
think Rape Cultue doesn't exist, but it does exist, and these cases prove it.
And here is the issue with the women labeled 'TERF'. If you followed any of their blogs,
such as Gender Trender, and Gender Identify Watch, both of which have been shut down.
You would see that, the majority of the cases they reported on men claiming to be trans-women
who were convicted of murdering and raping women and children, and then demanding to
be placed in the woman's prison facility. Where they then rape and assault the other
female inmates.
Who wouldn't have saw that coming? Hm.
So, I want to discuss Red-Katherineee. A girls user-name
on Tumblr She was 15 when she began making this artwork that blew up on the internet
and caused people to lash out at her, and threaten her with rape, murder, and so forth,
because they didn't like what she had to say.
And, she happens to be a lesbian. And basically, she has been scared off the internet because
these people hounded her and wouldn't let her go.
She would try creating new aliases online, and people would People find out and report
it, and then the mob comes to attack her and harass her.
And yet. People are making her feel unsafe, online, and in reality if God forbid, someone
found out her real name and identity and where she lived.
Ugh. It's just scary to think about. Since this is exactly how aggressive these activists
and militant people are whenever they want to silence someone they disagree with.
So, I'm going to show you some of her artwork and give a little commentary on them, and,
you can make up your own mind.
So, Red-Katherines work is told from a lesbian and feminist perspective. And her images illustrate
what it's like living in the world as a lesbian where men and trans-women are constantly harassing
you because they want to get in your pants. And nothing works to repel them to get the
picture that you're not interested.
The woman is in tears in the first two images, and I feel bad for her.
But she makes some great points in these pieces I'm showing, and has a sense of humor where
she emasculates those that complained about the women's march for being women centric,
and the controversy over the vagina hats and how that 'excludes trans-women with penises'.
So, she draws a protester with a limp dick penis hat on and hits home the point she's
trying to make how ridiculous this is.
Then there is a guy, spray painting a dick and saying "Suck my dick", then in the
next one, he is crying and saying "That's violence" since there is a little sticker
of a penis, with 'women don't have penises' written on it.
And that is violence and threatening according to these people who are very narcissistic,
because, it's always about them, never about anything else, but them.
Some women in the U.K. And the U.S. have put up such stickers and has caused some controversy,
which again, is just ridiculous.
But this is the great big 'TERF' threat they're scared of. (chuckles) A sticker that says
women don't have penises.
The next one is self explanatory by the question and response. A rational question based in
logic receiving a irrational and illogical response.
And this is what women are dealing with. It's just mind boggling that this is controversial,
when it shouldn't be.
Her most controversial work was an image of a witch boiling trans people alive in a vat.
Pretty obvious what it means. But again. I'm not threatened by this image.
Yet, people went ape over this image and unleashed their fury on Red-Katherine.
She did a follow up, which is more extreme as you can see, where the witch cooked up
one of the trans people.
And yet.as grotesque as it is. It's a very darkly funny image because the pie is screaming
"Die cis-scum!" even though they're losing and the witch is like, " You don't scare
me. Heck, I got one up on you now." And the pie is stubbornly thinking shouting "Die
cis-scum!" is going to change anything.
Again. I'm not threatened by this image.
The people retaliated against the boiling trans people alive image with an image of
'TERFS', radfems, and pedophiles being boiled alive.
It doesn't make any sense that 'TERF' and radfem are listed separately when they are
one in the same by definition.
And that shows how clueless these people, who are so offended, scared and threatened
by Red-Katherine really are. They clearly didn't think this image through.
Unless they really hate women that they had to list radfems and 'TERFS' as if they're
two separate entities. Then they equate them with pedophiles which is really offensive,
and doesn't make any sense.
Then someone drew this image which is a direct threat too Red-Katherine of "Shut up. Stop
making this art. Stop saying what you're saying or we'll cut your fucking head off and kill
you."
Gee. That's really going to win people over.
In this image. People try to use it as proof that Red-Katherine endorses violence against
trans people because this radfem is wearing a blood splattered 'I Punch Trans-Activists'
tee-shirt, which is not the truth if you know the history of what this shirt is contrasting,
which is the very real blood splattered 'I Punch TERFS' shirt that Mya Brynes of The
Degenderettes wears, a radical queer gang of trans people.
The Degenderettes love to brandish baseball bats of various sizes, and some are covered
in barbed wires, nails and so forth. And they also brandish axes and knives as seen in this
image.
They think they are so threatened by 'TERFS' that they must rise up and be this violent
vigilante group that goes out to assault them, or at least, intimidate them into silence,
via brandishing weapons, which shows how insecure they really are.
Now, we get on to the bulk of the really nasty stuff that is directed at 'TERFS' and women
in general. And in this image. Pay attention to the dehumanizing way they are speaking
about 'TERFS' by referring to them as 'it'. Saying "I want to break its legs." not
'her legs'.
They completely dehumanize the women and thus think it's okay to violently assault them
since "well, they're not human." so there is no reason to fell bad since "They're
not even women. They're nothing." which is a very scary mindset too have.
This is exactly how the military operates and anyone who has to go out and kill anyone
or anything like animals and such. You have to dehumanize the prey to have no emotionally
connection too it in terms of empathy and so forth. And thus you can be a cold hearted
killing machine and kill without mercy.
And this is the type of rhetoric that is very dangerous. Because imagine you're in these
trans groups around like minded people that are openly talking in a very vulgar, hostile,
violent, graphic manner and no one is countering it, at all with some common sense. You're
going to start to believe it after awhile and join in since it'll become normalized.
This is just scary. I mean, look at these comments and the sexually violent nature of
them.
And, all these tactics. The whole "Suck my dick" and so forth are typical male threats.
Women don't make these threats.
So for these trans women to say such things shows how male minded they still are. Because
here they are. Trying to threaten and intimidate other women into shutting up.
And if they were so secure in who they were. They wouldn't be lashing out this violently
with vitriol.
They would just move on and ignore them and go about your life.
But no. They feel threatened and claim the 'TERFS' words alone are violence, and thus
are responsible for killing trans people. So they are 'defending' themselves by saying
such things, or doing such things. And, this is just insane.
This lower comment is a threat directed at Red-Katherine and it is so vulgar, gross and
disgusting, I can't read it out loud. It just makes you want to take a shower to wash the
grime off after seeing it. But,that's a comment someone sent a 15 year old girl.
Really fucked up in my opinion.
This image, again reiterates how unhuman 'TERFS' really are, and thus they are worthy of all
the grisly, grotesque violent rape, murder and torture etc, possible without recourse
because they're not human.
Again. This is a very dangerous mindset for people to have.
People should counter this stuff with reality, common sense and so forth.
Now, on a lighter note since this stuff really makes my stomach turn and feel grossed out,
depressed and ugh, yuck.
They have also been trying to create another acronym to call 'TERFS' which is 'FART'S',
which stands for 'Feminist, Appropriating, Reactionary Transphobe' which is a mouthful.
The words don't flow together well at all grammatically. And, it just sounds stupid.
It also shows their immaturity, and add this childish immaturity mixed with male aggression
and violence that is unhinged. It's a very dangerous combination.
So, I hope this video and all those images give you something to think about and now
you can understand what is going on in the world.
And please start speaking up whenever you see people attacking women and silencing them
and calling them 'TERFS' and so forth because that is not right, and we can't let them win
because they currently are winning by getting people shut down and silenced completely.
It's a scary time to be alive in that case. But we will not be silenced.
Our voices will be heard.
And. They can try to shut me down. But they can't shut you down.
So. Thanks for watching this video and get the word out!

Painting Projects & Pronunciations - A Moonstone Moment - The Moonstone Web Series - Duration: 1:47.
Remember that 15th century gate that was busted during Josette's Memorial?
It's more of a door.
Kind of a gate door.
Well - -
Anyways, anyways Josette has been
waiting for a replacement from India.
Yeah, and it still hasn't come in so she
ordered a temporary one, but it's the wrong color
so blah, blah, blah, long story short,
we're going to paint a door.
And hopefully it will dry before the Gala.
What? What is it called?
A Gala.
No, it's pronounced Gala like Leila.
No, it's...it's Gala.
Gala.
Gala.
Are you joking right now? Like, like a whole tomato/tomahto thing?
You want to, you want to call this whole thing off now?
-I think we might have to. -Wow.
The paint has arrived. It's in the garage, waiting for you.
You know, I don't, House, I don't think Donni and I are gonna be able to work with this anymore
because we seem to be having some fundamental issues.
Best work it out.
This is no time to be fighting with the Gala upon us.
Both: Gala?
No, definitely not, mm-hmm.
You know what, that's one thing I can work with you on.
Yeah!
Gala?
Yeah, seriously, Gala?
Who says that?

Anticipated Releases of 2019! - Duration: 11:44.
Hello everyone! I'm Ashleigh, and today I'm going to be doing a video all about my
anticipated releases of 2019. I originally wasn't going to do one of these
videos because I'm really bad at keeping up with upcoming releases. I just kind of
gain books somehow. Yeah. But then I realized that there are actually a few
that are on my radar and as I've been watching other people's anticipated
releases I've heard of a couple more. So I haven't ended up with loads of
anticipated releases, but I do have enough to talk about, and so here we are.
So I'm gonna start talking about them. These are going to be in a publication
order from the dates that I found on Amazon, and they're also going to be linked to
their Goodreads pages down below. And I'd love to know if any of these are on
your own TBR! So the first one that I want to talk about is On The Come Up by
Angie Thomas. Now I don't tend to read Contemporary books that often but I
think... it wasn't this year, I think it was in 2017 I read The Hate U Give by Angie
Thomas because I got an ARC of it and I absolutely adored it, so when I found out
that Angie Thomas was releasing another book I just - I have to read it.
This one is about a girl called Bri who wants to become a famous rapper like her
dad. But then she ends up getting quite a lot of publicity but for all the wrong reasons
because one of her songs gains quite a lot of controversy around it, and because
she's a black girl the media kind of puts emphasis on all the negative things.
And so it's kind of about how the media portrays these things and how race is
always an underlying issue, and yeah. I just - it's Angie Thomas. I think she's
incredible so I want to read the her book. And also I absolutely love this
cover. This is the one that I've seen and I think it's the UK one, which I hope it
is because then that means I can buy it. But I have seen quite a few different
covers so I'm not quite sure which one's going to be the UK one. We'll see .Oh and
I forgot to mention that this one comes out on the 5th of February. The next one
comes out on the 21st of February and that is The Kingdom of Copper
by S.A. Chakraborty, which is the second book to The City of Brass.
Now The City of Brass is a fantasy inspired by 18th century Cairo, and it
follows a conwoman who doesn't believe in magic until she accidentally summons
a djinn warrior. So everything kind of escalates from there, as you might
imagine. Spoiler alert for one of my upcoming videos but this was one of my
favorite books of 2018 so I just NEED the second book. The City of Brass
reminded me why I've always loved young adult fantasy books and just fantasy
books in general. It hooked me from the get-go and I just need the next book. And
also this cover is absolutely stunning! I prefer the UK cover so much more than
the American one. Well, you know, dark green is my favorite color so... Next up is
one that comes out on the 26th of February and I kind of feel like I'm
cheating a bit because I do have an ARC of this book, but that book is The
Priory of the Orange by Samantha Shannon. This one is kind of hard to explain because
it's an epic fantasy about dragons and it's over 800 pages long, and follows
quite a few different characters, so it's kind of hard to explain. But like I said
the goodreads pages will be linked down below. And yeah, I'm currently reading
this one. I'm about 300 pages in when this video goes up. So ...yeah and so far I
absolutely adore it so much. Samantha Shannon is probably my favourite author
and I just - I had full faith in her that she would pull this story off, and so far
it's so good. And even though I am currently reading the ARC I am still
anticipating this because I actually have the collectors edition pre-ordered
and it comes out two days after my birthday, so yeah. I'm just - I'm so excited
to have the finished edition of it. I'm just so excited for this book to come
out and for everybody else to be able to read it and just to talk
about dragons because it's amazing. Also I love the fact that so far these
three books come out in February and my birthday is on the 24th of February
so... I know what I'm getting for my birthday. I'm gonna treat myself to books.
The next book comes out on the 7th of March and that is Song of Sorrow by
Melinda Salisbury. This is the second book to State of Sorrow and again,, State
of Sorrow was one of my favourite books. I probably should have uploaded my
favourite books of 2018 video before this one because I'm just spoiling that
video entirely apparently. I do absolutely love that book. It's about a world
where the leader has kind of banished happiness because his wife died and he
kind of forces their world to live in permanent grief over her death. So
they're not allowed to share happiness, they don't have any colour in their life,
they all just wear grey, and it's a very somber, morbid world. The main character
however is a teenage girl, she is his daughter and actually campaigns against
him in an election. So she wants to become the leader and overrule her dad.
Like I said, I love fantasy books and especially when it's a political fantasy,
so having a teenage girl actually care about the politics of her world and run
in an election... it was so good to read. I loved it so much. And so this is the
second book and I want to find out what happens. The next book is out on the 2nd
of May and that is A Thousand Ships by Natalie Haynes. This one simply put is an
all-female retelling of the Trojan War, and this is quite a popular trend that's
coming about, like the Greek myths being retold through a woman's perspective
which, I mean, I'm on board with completely. Take my heart and soul. Now I
still haven't read The Children of Jocasta by Natalie Haynes, but I have
read her nonfiction book which is about ancient history, and that is called... The
Ancient Guide To Modern Life - took me a moment to remember which way round that
was. But yeah, I've read her nonfiction book and absolutely adored it, so I have full
faith that I'm going to enjoy her fiction work as well. And I do still
really want to read The Children of Jocasta, I've just told myself that I
need to read the original myth first because that one's a retelling of the
Oedipus and Antigone myth I believe, so I want to read that story first
before diving into that one, which hopefully I'll do in 2019. And then we skip more
towards the end of the year with one that comes out on September 10th, and
that is The Testaments by Margaret Atwood. Now this one I'm not so much
excited for but I'm intrigued, because this is a sequel to The Handmaid's Tale...
many years after. But yeah, I'm kind of aware that this could be a money grabbing
thing and they just want to kind of make money from people's interest in the
show, but I want to see where the story goes because it was fine as a standalone
and I don't know what to expect. So if you didn't know, The Handmaid's Tale is a
dystopian in a world where women can't easily get pregnant, and so the
population is declining, and so the women who can get pregnant are owned by
families who want children and they're just kind of kept to give birth on command.
Yeah. I didn't love it because I didn't get along entirely with her writing
style, but I did really like the story which is why I want to see what happens
in the second book and whether I end up enjoying it anymore. I am actually going
to be running a read-along for The Handmaid's Tale in August because I want to
reread it and when I tweeted about it a lot of people wanted to join in, so
that's going to be happening sometime in August. So if you're
interested in reading it for the first time or rereading it in preparation for
the Testaments, then keep an eye out on my twitter! And then the final book on
this list, but by no means the least - it's The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern.
Can we just - oh my god! Erin Morgenstern is finally coming out
with another book! This comes out on the fifth of November and honestly I don't
even need to know what it's about to want to read it, need to read it. I
NEED this in my life, because in case you haven't guessed by now, The Night
Circus is my all-time favourite book. I reread it recently and
oh I just I am so in love with her writing, and I've been waiting for her to
write something else since like... I was 16, maybe 15. I don't know how old I was when
I read it. But she's finally releasing something else
and I'm just so excited! Now for this one I am just going to read out the synopsis
because I swear to god it's like the longest synopsis ever and I can't
summarize it any quicker. So I'm just going to read it out. But this says
"Zachary Ezra Rawlings is a graduate student in Vermont when he discovers a
strange book hidden in the library stacks. As he turns the pages, entranced by
the tales of lovelorn prisoners, key collectors and nameless acolytes, he
reads something strange - a story from his own childhood. Bewildered by this
inexplicable book and desperate to make sense of how his own life came to be
recorded, Zachary uncovers a series of clues - a bee, a key and a sword - that lead
him to a masquerade party in New York to a secret club and through a doorway to a
subterranean library hidden far below the surface of the earth. What Zachary
finds in this curious place is more than just a buried home for books and their
Guardians; it is a place of lost cities and seas,
lovers who pass notes under doors and across time, and of stories whispered by
the dead. Zachary learns of those who have
sacrificed much to protect this realm, relinquishing in their sight and their
tongues to preserve this archive and also those who are intent on its destruction.
Together with Mirabel, a fierce pink head protector of the place, and Dorian, a
handsome barefoot man with shifting alliances, Zachary travels the twisting
tunnels, darkened stairwells, crowded ballrooms and sweetly soaked shores of
this magical world, discovering his purpose in both the mysterious book and
in his own life." THAT'S why I had to read it out loud. It was like the longest
synopsis ever, but it sounds incredible. And I'm sure it's gonna be just as
magical as The Night Circus is. I am a little bit scared because my
expectations are going to be so high and I don't want them to be disappointed. But
you know, that's the nature of reading. We'll just see how it goes. But those were
all my anticipated releases of next year! Like
I said I don't have loads, I kind of just wing it for the most part. But I would
love to hear about your anticipated releases, if any of these make it onto
your list, and if you think there's any that I really need to know about. But
that is it for this video, so I hope you have a lovely day and I shall see you
next time for the new video. Bye!
