What does the Brexit vote mean for Scottish independence? - Duration: 5:59.

So if we sort of take a step back and look what's happening in in recent

history obviously we had our own independence referendum in 2014 where by

a margin of 55% to 45% we voted to stay in in the UK and at that point the UK

Although we sort of knew by that point that we may be heading for a referendum

about European Union membership and we were very much still in in the European Union

So we voted to stay in the UK

Fast forward about 18 months nearly

two years and obviously we had the June 2016 we had the the referendum about the

UK's membership of the European Union and we voted to come out of the European

Union as the UK

Now the the problem with some of that is that when you look at

voting patterns in Scotland actually we voted in Scotland very much to stay in

the European Union by almost a factor of 2 to 1 so 62% of us voted to stay

in the European Union and 38% of us voted to to come out

So in other words as the politicians would say we are being dragged out of the EU against

our will and against the expressed wishes of the people of Scotland

So that's that's the background to it that you know the Democratic outrage is the

First Minister would say and they you know and and you know there is kind of

good reason for that I think and I think what she calculated was that because

almost two-thirds of us had voted to stay in the European Union and the fact

that we were being dragged out would mean that people would support her call

for another independence referendum but in actual fact that that hasn't happened

and both support for independence hasn't really changed significantly

since 2014 and support for a second independence referendum so for actually

holding another referendum has never been above in the short term has never

been above 50% so in other words I think the government in Scotland sort of

miscalculated actually the strength of voters feelings

So even though I think

for a lot of people well they don't want to be that they are being dragged

against their will it didn't necessarily mean in their minds that what they

wanted as a result of that was another independence referendum

So because of the election that happened this year and the fact that the SNP lost quite a few

about 21 22 seats the at least in the short term there isn't going to be

another independence referendum in Scotland

Scotland didn't vote for Brexit

it was 62% for Remain 38% which was higher than some expected for for Leave

and that was across the whole country that you couldn't point to any

council areas where there was a leave vote and according to opinion polls

those numbers have gone up a bit around 66% remain

So I think the sort of

constitutional political issue of Scotland being very out of sync with

English and Welsh politics at least is is quite an important one

I mean before the referendum the First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said that she felt

constitutionally Scotland should have a veto as one of the constituent parts of

the UK and not surprisingly that wasn't given

The last sort of 15 20

years has seen a real sort of political sea change particularly in Scotland and

I don't think the while that is the case that was a UK referendum and you go by

the UK results in a sense sort of politically and almost culturally we

have sort of moved on from that now and you can't expect well you can you can

try and implement the results as it pertains to the whole of the UK

You can't expect to do that without people in different parts of the UK saying well

hang on a sec we didn't vote for this and whether

that's in, whether that's in in this case Scotland or Northern Ireland

now in Northern Ireland at the moment you know there is no that you know as we

speak there that there is no government so finding their voice in this is a

little bit more difficult

Whereas we in Scotland have a have a

government we have a strong government it's been in power for 10 years

It's extremely pro-European it there wasn't a single politician and a single

politician from the SNP either Westminster Holyrood or in local

government who during the campaign stood for leaving

Some of them since the

European since the referendum have come out as levers but during the referendum

not a single SNP politician despite the fact that about a third of SNP voters

voted to leave which is a separate issue so it isn't unsurprising that the weight

of the Scottish government which is I think sort of taken much more seriously

these days was put behind you know the position of you know we really don't

want this to happen this is a democratic outrage and if we can't stop it

happening then what jolly well gonna try and have our voice heard and make sure

that the the sort of saying earlier the different kind of political and economic

conditions in Scotland are taken into account during the negotiation period

Chance of yellow dust tonight _ 032918 - Duration: 1:34.

Hello I'm Michelle Park here with the latest weather update.

The fine dust that's been in the air returned to normal levels, but we are still under a

thick layer of ultra-fine dust.

There is a chance that yellow dust from China could come in tonight,... which would worsen

the air quality, so do stay up to date on the readings.

You can look forward to fresh air tomorrow with an easterly wind clearing away the dust.

Seoul will start Friday morning at 9 degrees Celsius.

Chuncheon and Daegu mark 6 and 8 degrees, and Busan starts at 11.

It will get sunnier into the day, Seoul warming up to 19 degrees, Gwangju and Busan peaking

at 21 and 16 degrees.

It's going to remain nice and clear until the weekend.

But then on Sunday and Monday, the central region, including Seoul, is going to get wet.

I'll leave you with the weather conditions around the world.

why consistent branding is a MUST ABC - Duration: 0:46.

- So good quality images are really, really important

as well as consistent branding.

So when I worked as a graphic designer when I was younger,

before I actually started my own business,

I had a day job doing that.

I used to do the design and marketing

for a lot of big franchises, such as Dominos, Harvey Norman,

and I got so bored with doing their designs

because every single thing looked exactly the same.

I was like, "I want to get creative,

"I want to change stuff."

But I learned a big lesson from that.

It's that the really big successful businesses,

everything matches, everything looks exactly the same,

they always use the exact same fonts,

they always have the exact same shade of colour,

like they don't use five different kinds of pinks.

iPhone X Camera Test vs Samsung Galaxy S9+ - Duration: 5:30.

Apple's iPhone X has one of the best cameras available in a smartphone.

But we're barely into 2018, and Samsung has released what they're calling a 'reimagined'

camera system in their Galaxy S9+.

So let's see how the iPhone X holds up against one of Android's best in a camera shootout.

First lets cover specs.

By this point everyone is familiar with the setup on the iPhone X.

It's Apples best camera system to date, and can take impressive photos.

But Samsung is the first manufacturer to release a dual aperture system.

It switches from f/2.4 to f/1.5 in low light conditions, and is supposed to help you get

the best photo possible regardless of where you're shooting.

I'll mention here that I'm testing these cameras the way most people use them, in auto

mode.

That means straight out of the pocket, using the stock camera app.

We also hired Victoria to model for us -- be sure to check out her Instagram.

I'm breaking the results into 3 categories: color, clarity, and exposure.

We'll be digging deep into each example to see how the cameras are tuned.

Now to the testing!

The first category is color and we'll be looking at the white balance and color reproduction

of each camera.

This first shot of Victoria is a simple one, but makes something very clear: the white

balance on the iPhone leans heavy into warmer tones.

Not only is her skin a nice golden color compared to the S9, so is everything else.

The S9 feels cooler and more muted in comparison, but it's actually more accurate.

This street scene gives us similar results, pumping up the warm street lights in the iPhone

X shot.

And that's really what it boils down to in all these examples -- would you rather

have a pumped up, wamer version of the world from the iPhone X, or a more muted slightly

cooler version from the S9+?

When it comes to photos of Victoria, I almost always prefer the iPhones images, since Apple

adds warmth and life to the shots.

I say almost always because there's one photo I still can't get over.

Against this colorful wall, the iPhone just goes too far into the unnatrual territory,

presenting a neon eyesore.

Yes, the S9 is cooler, but it's so much more natural.

So I'm going to go with whats more accurate, knowing that I can add warmth and contrast

later in Instagram or Photoshop if needed.

Color preferences are very subjective, but the iPhone pushes warm tones too far too often

for my tastes and professional needs.

So I'm going to give the Samsung Galaxy S9+ the edge in color.

The next category is clarity.

Here we'll look at the sharpness of the photos and how well they stay sharp in dark

situations.

In this first brightly lit street scene, there doesn't seem to be much of a difference

between the two phones.

But zooming in reveals sublte nuances.

A combination of sharpening and compression results in a jagged jaw line in the iPhone's

photo.

The S9's photo is cleaner but lacks some of the fine details caught by the iPhone.

At a greater distance, the S9+ fairs a bit better, with the building revealing more detail

compared to what the iPhone produced.

Looking at a darker part of the frame, we see that the S9 is still the cleaner shot.

This closer capture of Victoria is shaper on the S9, even before we zoom in.

And once we do we see the traditional Samsung overshapening on her jeans.

Despite that the S9's photo still more favorable compared to the iPhones.

Moving to a darker street scene, Samsung opens it's aperture to f/1.5.

Zooming in reveals that the iPhone is still the noiser of the two, but it keeps up with

the S9+ for now.

In an even darker scene, the S9+ pulls away even farther.

The iPhone's shot isn't bad, but the S9+ is easily one of the best low light camera's

I've used.

So, in most situations the S9+ delivers a cleaner, sharper photo -- and the Clarity

category goes to Samsung.

The final category is exposure.

This one covers dynamic range and how each camera chooses to expose for a scene.

So I'll get this out of the way right now: Each camera did a great job at exposing for

complex scenes.

Overall, I don't have any punishing notes about missed or odd exposures.

But both phones had a habit of blowing out highlights, with the iPhone tending to blow

out skin.

Bringing up some photos we covered earlier, I was very upset with how often the iPhone

ruined faces.

There were also odd instances where the iPhone's HDR just didn't kick in strong enough, resulting

in harsh bright spots.

The S9 on the other hand struggled with the sky.

Lost in these shots are any hints of blue skies or clouds.

These street shots are less harsh, but still exhibit this problem.

This category really comes down to a nit pick, and I'd rather have blown out skies than

skin.

So the Samsung Galaxy S9+ takes the exposure category.

Even though the S9+ wins all 3 categories, it's not by much.

If you prefer warmer skin tones and more contrast, then the iPhone X is worth considering.

But the S9+ has a flatter, cleaner image which lends itself to more flexibility when editing

in your favorite apps and desktop programs.
