Waching daily May 2 2018

Hi Bob the Canadian here.

It's been a long day for me and I'm kind of tired.

So I thought in this video I would help you learn ten different English phrases to describe

when you're feeling tired.

Hi Bob the Canadian here, welcome to this video.

If this is your first time here don't forget to click the subscribe button below, leave

a comment, and at some point during the video give me a thumbs up if you enjoy these English

lessons that I'm giving to you.

So, you're tired and you wanna be able to describe it.

In this video I'll look at ten different ways to say that you're tired in English,

and I'm actually kind of tired as I'm making this video so there's a good chance

I'll probably mess things up a little bit, but let's go through them.

Number one, you can simply say, "I'm tired.

I'm very tired, it's been a long day and I'm really really tired."

All of those would be great ways to let someone know that you're tired.

Another way to say that you're tired is to say, "I'm worn out."

So if you think about a machine, when a machine runs for a long time it gets worn out.

In English you can describe yourself as being worn out.

It's been a long day, I'm worn out.

I can't wait to go home.

I'm worn out.

A third way to say that you're tired is to say, "I'm pooped."

And this sounds kind of funny because I'm not sure if you know yet what poop is.

When you eat food eventually you have to poop.

But we do in English when we're describing being tired say, "I'm pooped."

I'm totally pooped right now, because I worked so hard today I'm now totally pooped.

Or I'm pooped out.

Both of those would also be ways to describe being tired, and I'm not joking we do actually

say that in English.

Hah, phew, I'm pooped.

Another way to say that you're tired in English is to simply say, "I'm sleepy."

There's a bit of a difference here though, when I'm when I say I'm tired it doesn't

necessarily mean that I want to go to sleep, but when I say I'm sleepy, it usually means

I'm having trouble keeping my eyes open.

Maybe my head is nodding a little bit, when I'm supposed to stay awake so to say that

you're tired you can also say, "I'm sleepy."

Another way to say you're tired in English is to say, "I'm whipped."

I'm just completely whipped, and whoo, I had a really long day, I, I worked super hard

and I'm just whipped.

I'm whipped, I'm tired.

Another way to say that you're tired in English, and this one you don't hear as

much anymore, but you should still know it because you might read it in a book is to

say, "I'm tuckered out."

or "I'm just tuckered out."

It's kind of an older saying, but you will see this if you read occasionally you'll

see someone say, "Well I've ridden the horse all day and I'm just tuckered out."

Again meaning that you're really really tired.

Another way to say that you're tired in English is to describe yourself as if you're

a car and to say, "I'm , I'm out of gas.

I'm just out of gas today."

or "I just don't have any more gas in the tank."

And that would be a way like if let's say you're brother said, "Hey, come over and

help me move some stuff in my backyard today."

You could say, "Look I'm, I'm just out of gas.

I am so tired I just need to stay home and rest.

The gas tank's empty bro!

Not going to be able to help you today."

Another way to describe being tired is to just say that you're run down.

If you say to someone, "I'm run down."

it doesn't mean that someone's run you over, it means that you're just feeling

exhausted, so you would say, "I'm just feeling run down today."

Maybe it was a day where you were on your feet all day.

Maybe normally you work in an office where you sit, but maybe you're feeling run down

because you worked really really hard all day and you were on your feet all day.

Another way, and I kind of hinted at this just a little, a few seconds ago is to say,

"I'm exhausted."

When you're exhausted it means you've used up all of your energy for the day.

It's the end of the day and now you're feeling exhausted.

You have no energy left and you would say, "I'm exhausted."

And lastly we have a saying, "I'm ready to call it a day."

Right now I've just finished work.

I'm really really tired.

Tomorrow I actually have a kind of a busy day.

And I, and I'm not really looking forward to it.

I don't have a lot of energy left so I'm ready to call it a day.

So if you say, "I'm ready to call it a day, Bob!"

It means that you're done everything that you need to do for that day and you're ready

to just pack it in, relax on the couch, go to bed on time.

Bob the Canadian here.

That was ten ways to say that you're tired in English.

Believe it or not the list is even larger.

There are numerous ways in English to say that you're tired, but I hope these ten

will help you, either phrases for you to use when you speak English or maybe just to be

able to recognize them if you were to read a book.

Why don't the Swiss recycle more plastic? - Duration: 2:40.

Why don't the Swiss recycle more plastic?

My name is Susan and I recycle what I can.

Usually, Switzerland is an easy place to do that.

But not when it comes to plastic.

I try to avoid plastic packaging where I can,

but after 30 days, look at how much I've accumulated.

Let's see what I can recycle here in Bern.

Some of the items are so light –

weightless, practically.

But it all adds up.

People in Switzerland consume over

a million tonnes of plastic per year.

About 250,000 tonnes go into durable products.

But most of it – 780,000 tonnes – is used for packaging,

things that people throw away after only one use.

In the EU, a third of plastic waste is recycled,

a third is burned for energy, and a third goes into landfills.

In comparison, Switzerland

recycles about 20-25% of its plastic waste.

The rest gets burned – in special

facilities that can generate energy.

And although Switzerland never buries its plastic,

many people wish they could recycle more of it.

Currently, only two types of plastic are easy to recycle.

Drink bottles made out of P.E.T. – plastic #1 – can be

dropped off at nearly every shop and in many public places.

So people in Switzerland recycle 83% of their PET bottles.

Other kinds of plastic bottles, say for shampoo, detergent,

milk, or cooking oil, are accepted

at most grocery stores and municipal dumps.

These containers are usually of good quality, and

keeping the caps on keeps the collection bins clean.

Otherwise – most plastic waste

ends up in the garbage.

For example, snack and magazine wrappers, yogurt cups, packaging

for meat and all sorts of other plastic items.

In most parts of Switzerland, these

are considered too complicated to recycle.

There's no national system in place, and

many towns don't want to start one.

So this plastic gets burned in waste incineration plants.

That's not a waste, say the authorities.

Burning a tonne of Swiss household rubbish

yields about 2,300 kWh of energy.

But those in favor of plastic recycling

argue that recycling a tonne

of plastic can save 12,000 kWh of energy

by keeping a tighter circle

on the resources needed to produce everyday items.

Well, even though I can only

recycle this much of my plastic garbage, at least

I know that the rest can be used to power my city.

And more importantly,

it won't end up in a landfill or in an ocean.

Growing up as 90's Kids | Marathi Podcast ft. Sarang Sathaye | Humour Us - Duration: 20:35.

hello guys, my name is Karan

and we have got back the Marathi Podcast for you people.

I know it's been too long but

we were looking for the guest and finally we have found him.

Today's guest NEEDS introduction. It is not like he doesn't need it.

Please welcome, Sarang Sathaye

Everybody let's clap!

Our topic for today is Growing up as a 90's kid

Right.

I think that you were born between 80's and 90's

I was born in 80's but..

the best time I had...

Karan: It is exactly of that time.

Sarang: It is of 90's

Hardcore. My whatsapp status also says...

Who is MUKUT BIHARI amongst you?

You people won't get it.

No..No..

This is HARDCORE 90's reference.

I didn't get the joke.

Yes.

Only actual 90's kid will get it.

The movie TEZAAB

it was launched around late 80's....late 90's..

I think HARDCORE cinemas started after TEZAAB

and in that...

Anil Kapoor in that movie..he was an icon at that time...

Standing above train and....

so in the start...

He is shown drunk...dancing drunk..in navratri...

and then...

The goons follow him..about to beat him..

and he is walking on the railway tracks...

and he suddenly turns and says ' Who is MUKAT BIHARI amongst you?'

he says that...

and basically he is not drunk

He is just pretending drunk

Ok.

So that is the famous dialouge, we heard in out childhood.

memories

Who is the king of MUMBAI? type of..

Now he is coming in our 90's

I have experienced 90's from start to finish.

and we started from between.

but if you see...

Which is the most memorable thing you miss from 90's?

One such thing is this (pointing at the cassettes)

I miss it badly

Inserting the pencil and rolling the tape

and my father had this habit of...

recording movies.

Ok.

it was connected to the Tv...

Karan: VCR?

No..No..From the TV.

DD national

because he was an engineer..

he had loads of skills.

At my place, whenever a new electronic thing is bought,

he use to open it...

When we had got our new computer also,he had opened it.

to see what's inside.

Curious?

So he connected, don't know, what all things to the TV...

The aux thing was not present at that time..

but he did some DIY.

and the tape use to record all the audio..

means whatever is going on in the TV

then it will get recorded in that system

and we use to listen it later. To enjoy!

We have no idea about this system.

Neel:This is something big.

I only know that in those times, VCR was a thing.

We experience that.

We use to hire VCR

Yes. Everybody use to do that.

Everyone use to hire it.

We use to watch 3 cinemas in a day

Finish them. Quickly.

Dedicating one day to it.

So you were in your mid 90's

Right.

So you did your schooling from 90's...

Yes.

You are from Pune?

yes. I am from Pune.

I always do a joke in my stand up set

that...

I was born in 80's

but i should get an award because the first 8 years i was living in SADASHIVPETH

because Sadashiv Peth is still in 90's..not 90's...it is still in its 60's

so there i was..

My 90's had gone in PETHET

Pune's Sadashivpeth, ShukravarPeth..like those..

Hardcore Marathi location.

So now you see me was not the same that time.

i was completely different back then...

Simple and honest?

i was not simple and honest..

ofcourse...

I was naughty at that time

but...

I was a bit..shy..

scared..

stupid...completely stupid...

I use to earn 40% in studies...

When i had gone to 10th standard...i had given my 10th in 1998..

Neel: I gave my 10th exactly after 10 years.

but...

Golden period..that is the reason i am saying...

from 1st to 12th standard..that time..

I have spent it in 90's

so that was my Golden period...

GOLDEN PERIOD!

Right.

I just got reminded because of naughtiness

When telephone was introduced in 90's

we use to do a lot of naughty things on the phone.

i remember...

when we had telephone...

and my parents use to go to work..

we use to come from school and my brother and me had one work only..

Switch on the TV.

Whatever numbers we use to see on the TV...

dial on each and everyone of them.

Hello !

We had YELLOW PAGES back then!

The huge book!

from that..this one..that one..

We use to call unknown people and ask...

Hello, you have water in your tap?

yes. it is there.

Then open the tap.

In our school, the worst thing we use to do is...

call each other's house and tease them by their fathers name

One such girl in our school, she was our good friend...

her fathers name was Narayan.

so people use to call her and say.....

when she use to pick the call..we use to say..

NARAYAN..NARAYAN!

and that..

no one can identify who use to do that..

Neel: Right

And i guess that time, tutions had started.

Tutions had just started then!

I mean, in your time, did you had private tutions?

In my times, Yes. They were there!

Previously, I use to say NO to go to tutions

You use to say it or parents?

They had put me once..

for the Hindi exams

and one day...

i never use to go actually to the tutions.

I use stroll in the area

Roam around in the area for a hour and show as if i came from the class.

one day...i am stupid man..i was an idiot ofcourse...

so..i roamed around and went to my uncle's restaurant..

My uncle had a small shop..selling

Bhel, Dosa and small food items

so i went there and went with the waiters of the restaurant to play cricket...

and then my uncle came there and he said..

What did you say to your parents, were are you going?

So i use to say NO to tutions previously, take holidays, use to bunk..

i finally..

joined tutions in 7th standard for a year

because...

one teacher got to know that..

this boy has learning disabilities. he can't understand things, how to write things.

But was it real or you were acting?

yes..yes..the thing in shown in TAARE ZAMEEN Par..

Karan: Ok. like that!

Sarang: Then i got to knw...

Neel: there is A THING like this.

Now, whenever i write the episode of casting couch...

with the title EPISODE 1...

Yes.

I don't know the spelling of EPISODE.

Neel: I also have this problem.

I have problems in small words as well.

Karan: you write one word in a page, if it is there, with different spellings?

Different. yes.

till date?

yes.

but now...

the one best..

the best thing i love in the year 2000 was computers.

yes. right.

it is really god's gift.

Back then, when someone use to own a computer,

he was the King.

Aniket: King

Karan: In those times,I guess, we use to have 256 MB RAM in our computers.

Sarang: My first computer...

had 386 and the other was 486.

I mean it had those RAMS.

and then it had 40GB of hard disk.

Hard disk...and then...floppy!

I still have old floppies..and in those floppies..

we could store 4 photos.

Neel: too costly!

Only 4 photos in a single floppy.

it was better to take printout rather than storing it in floppy.

Those who had computer, it was a big thing, but those who had internet,it was a really a big thing...

Cyber cafe was a thing that time.

The important thing was having internet and having a working internet connection

Right.

Karan: Dial-up connection..we had Dial-up connection.

it was never working because phone lines use to be dead..

load shedding..

and now in Bandra,

Day before yesterday..I am living in Bandra for the past 4 years..

In the past 4 years, only once we had no electricity.

for how long?

for a hour or so..some maintenance work..

Over here, Electricity goes for a bit long time...

Had just gone before starting this podcast...

no..only for a hour..but..

we are not use to it right?

we use to hide candles in every corner of the house in 90's

yes..we use to have that habit..right..

It was compulsory in 90's

and when electricity use to come, blow them off.

and also shout...

in our complex..everyone use to shout!

One more thing from 90's was that..

entering the tunnel in train..

YES

Train or while going to the picnic in bus,

we use to shout from the core, enthusiasm level high..entering the tunnel..

Day before yesterday, i was teaching my nephew..we were going for a wedding..

i told her we use to shout and all..

she coudn't understand at all..why to shout?

neel: Why?

Why? This question arises.

That is the reason, today's kids and 90's kid are nowhere close.

Both are poles apart from each other.

Now in Mumbai also we can see,

Summer vacations are currently going on...

Yes.

No one is playing outdoor games...

No..No...

Kids play cricket...

But hide and seek,

No...Lagori, Hide and seek, Dabba eyes spice,

Everything is gone...

Neel: Aba Dhubi..

Aniket: i remember in those times, when we use to go out to play...

everyone's face

today, no one is getting dark..our parents use to tell us, go and out play...

karan: GO!

Aniket: Enjoy your holidays..go and play!

Karan: now they take too much care of their children.

Aniket: now they take too much care of their children.

Neel: in those times, holidays were like...

Get up in the morning...

Eat...

and then go down to play.

Come up in the afternoon..

eat lunch...

If we have computers, then play games or video games, the console one..some one use to have that..

when that is done..in the evening...

go down again to play and come back home late in the night.

This used to be a set routine.

The most important thing was...

our parents never use to worry about us much.

We have neighbours in our locality..

if there child used to come in our house, they use to take it back quickly.

Ok.

In those times, my parents never knew at whose place i have gone to,

check his place, check in that area..

So that was good thing in 90's, you could anywhere you want...

We use to stay in Mumbai so we use to stay in buildings...

so we had this habit..that our moms use to scream out our name from the top floor..

and she use to scream so loudly...

KARANNNNNNNNNN

Everyone could hear it! The whole buidling.

I shifted in building in '96..no...'94

shifted in building...

and in '96...

we went in a highrise...highrise means...

4 floor.

Neel: OMG!

So we had balcony in our house..i mean terrace connected to our apartment..

my friends use to..

they use to drive their cycles below..just pass..

and while going...HEY SARANG! HEY SARANG!

karan: they had that habit.

and till the time we are not use to that habit..

that they are doing timepass..

I use to come out and they use to vanish and because of that..

my mom use to come out 20-25 times in a day because friends use to yell my name.

Video games also in those times was...

Aniket: it was politics.

In our building, politics was played because of video games.

He is with you, don't take him

he doesn't play good. Don't take him.

Karan: I will come at your place, but don't call him. We will play both.

This used to run systematic.

Trump cards too!

Neel: WWE

Karan: WWF!

Now it is transformed into WWE

Sarang: Tatanka

Aniket: Hulk Hogan..

Neel:no playing cards, lets play WWF cards.

I have TRIPLE H, Undertaker and we had it byheart..

Neel: His height, weight...

Sarang: We use to know byheart.

Neel: lbs..we don't know what was lbs..but height, weight..

It should be more.

Karan: Their entry music...Steve Austin..

He use to come..smashing glass sound effect...

Bulbs use to break!

i played cards..day before yesterday..after a long time..very long time...

that too in canada

but i have not lost that habit at all..

so i played like for hours...till early morning..

Neel: Used to play with strategy,..card games with strategy...

Sarang: but it has become very less now.

And we use to play a game..you know..

Cricket in the books...

yes, from the books.

Flip the pages in the book..

It was a very enjoyable!

and we use to write players name as well,

Sarang: yes

Karan: Below the runs scored by the batsmen,

and for the toss, tear a small bit of paper and make a dot on it and throw it in air.

Neel: I remember, i use to play it in lectures.

Karan: yes

Neel: Lecture and all is boring, i use to play it in schools only.

Sarang: We use to carry things to school like snacks..

and...

Raw Mango

and Cucumber...

There used to be female vendor outside school for cucumber

Outside the school gate..we use to poke our hands out from the gap of the gate...

There was a star shape snack which they use to give...what is it called?

Ber?

It was star shape..they use to cut it and eat it..

Sarang: The female vendor outside school,

as we were not getting money daily...

i use to 10rs. in every 2 weeks.

It use to cover my expenses

Do you use to get pocket money?

No..No..No...

Sold Old unwanted things...

ok..from that..

Collected milk packets...

Karan: Ok..so you use to earn from that...

Sarang: Keep the scrap money with you.

i use to get it like that.

Neel: Its ok..keep it now..its yours..

Sarang: Nothing apart from that.

but...

sometimes they use to give...

yearly interest use to come..so i use to get it..

From a scheme

but...

So i could not afford the cucumber on a daily basis.

so what we use to do..we had a deal with the vendor..

the skin which she use to peel..she use to give us that mixing it in salt.

Neel: Eat the skin?

Sarang: yes.

In the end, we just need the...feel...of eating the cucumber.

Guys, you can imagine as well

that the founder of BHADIPA...

was eating skin of the cucumber in those times,.

Sarang: They use to mix salt as well in it.

karan: I know Salt, but i never did this.

Neel: If you have your biopic in the future, you can start the scene with this scene, EATING SKIN OF THE CUCUMBER

The best thing was in March because in that month,

Raw mango use to grow on trees and Raw mangoes skin is tasty to eat.

Neel: It is a eatable thing.

I am lucky that we still have trees of mangoes in our house..

or else..

It is gone from 90's..i mean there are no trees nowadays..

so the thing of..

plucking raw mangoes from trees was A THING as well in those times.

Previously...with chappals,

yes...

we use to carry that stick with the hook, chappals,

make something in DIY...hang your tshirt in it..

Sarang: Fit the hook in it..

Neel: i remember, my vest was tore and hooked to a bamboo and they were using it..

and they use to close it down so that the fruit falls in the cloth only.

Karan: I still remember...when i was small..Kaho na pyaar hai had released...

YES

2000?

Yes around 2000...

and that time for me Hrithik Roshan was like...

Sarang: Nothing!

Boring..his new...

Saw him in theatre..and he was like SUPERB!

I mean..the tight tshirt and the dance...

I use to wear that COOL locket..SRK use to wear in Kuch Kuch hota hai..

I use to wear it and roam..

I also had that COOL locket..then the NIKE lockets he use to wear...

He use to wear that POLO SPORT written tshirt..

It was KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI ?

YES. RIGHT. The same one.

He use to wear the side bag..the pouch..

10 Years Ago... Matchday 35 LaLiga 2007/2008 - Duration: 2:47.

Ten years ago, having beaten Osasuna 2-1 at the Reyno de Navarra stadium, Real Madrid were proclaimed

champions of LaLiga 2007/2008.

It was the thirty-first time Los Blancos had won the League championship.

It was an epic victory for los blancos. There was a hostile atmosphere at the Reyno de Navarra

10 seconds into the second half, with the score at 0-0, Cannavaro was shown a red card.

With 7 minutes to go and all signs pointing to a goalless draw, Puñal kept the league open by scoring

But first Robben then Higuaín turned things round and delivered up LaLiga title.

Villarreal did their best to stop the inevitable. Thanks to Nihat's fifth brace of the season

they practically guaranteed themselves the second spot.

The Turkish player had now scored 17 times and inspired the yellow submarine to their best ever finish in LaLiga.

Barça didn't slip up either. They thrashed Valencia 6-0, equalling their best ever result against Los Ches.

Goals from Messi, Xavi and a brace from Henry and Bojan helped the Catalan club recover their spirits

days before visiting the Santiago Bernabéu.

The downside for Rijkaard was the yellow cards shown to Eto'o and Deco, which meant

neither player would be eligible for El Clásico.

Dani Güiza and Ignacio Camacho were the other stand out players from the Matchday.

The Mallorcan striker got a brace at the San Mamés making him top scorer with 24 goals.

Meanwhile the young Atletico Madrid player got his first goals in LaLiga with two strikes against Recreativo;

bringing his team into contention for the Champions League.

Finally, Murcia bade farewell to LaLiga after their defeat in Santander.

Despite being 2-0 up after half an hour, a goal from Jorge López and two from Munitis

meant Javier Clemente's side were mathematically relegated.

"It's a great spectacle for the fans though there's a lot of nerves and anxiety for the players"

"The most important thing is for it to be a great spectacle for the fans because it's the most watched

game in the world"

"Every Clasico is special, it always has something, not just for the goals, but for the way the game is played,

which makes you appreciate appearing in an El Clasico even more. Obviously, the thing I remember best is my

first goal in an El Clasico in the 2014-2015 season"

"As well as being my first goal in El Clasico, it was a goal that helped us to the title and in just my first year, that

was really important and thrilling. There are also the goals I got in the 4-0 win at the Bernabeu,

they were very important."

"I think they're special moments that mean a lot to any player. Scoring a goal against the eternal rivals at their

ground is incredible. As well as that it helped finish an almost perfect first half to the season and gave us a

great advantage over our rivals"

"It even surprised me. When I saw him celebrating the goal, I said to myself 'What is he doing?'.

It was a celebration that just came to him on the spot and that then went down in history. Leo has a lot of

photos of himself in the middle of the celebrations. And the truth is, it's a great memory to have"

"It must have been one of the goals either he or I scored. There's nothing like celebrating a goal. It's a fantastic

moment, always special. All strikers know it's an incredible moment. As well as that I get on really well

with Leo; we're always happy for the other when either of us does something good and we both really try

and help the team"

"Like all Barca fans, you want to win this game whatever it takes. Whether it's playing well or badly, the important

thing is to win these games. El Clasico means a lot to the fans and that really motivates the players when they

come out on the field"

"The fans have a big part to play in that sense. It's incredible when you come out and see the mosaic and

then the spectacular atmosphere of an El Clasico hits you. I have to say I feel privileged to be able to play in this

type of game and especially when it takes place at the Camp Nou"

"That's exactly what the Clasicos are about. Neither team thinks much about whether they're at home or not,

they just want to play in the Clasico and Clasicos are like that. It doesn't matter who's at home. We want to end our

recent poor run of home form against them. To win El Clasico again would be an amazing way to end

a great season"

"He's playing at an incredible level. He shows it in all the games he plays. You have to have a lot of respect for this

type of player"

"I think I played best in that Clasico. You can see in the four faces the intensity of playing in El Clasico.

You've got to be so alert for the full ninety minutes. They're beautiful images"

"The one constant in the season is LaLiga. You've got to play well every weekend if you want to be champions"

"I think we deserve it because we've been ahead all year long and then there are the statistics which show we

haven't lost a single game... up until now"

"The gaffer has shown he's the right sort of person for Barça with his humility and his calm when it comes to

managing the group. Then there's the confidence he's given all the players right from the start. That made a big

difference. He's open to listening to the group but determined when it comes to taking decisions and that's

very important for a coach when he comes to a team like Barça"

"Here I am with Philippe. I think it's the first assist he provided. I've got a lot of admiration for him,

for everything he's done since he left Inter, and he's had some tricky moments. He was brilliant at Liverpool and

his dream was to play for Barcelona. Now I'm enjoying his company as a teammate and friend. I'm pleased to

be alongside him once again"

"This one gives me goose bumps. Andres is a great person, he was one of the first to make me welcome

when I arrived at Barça. I sit beside him in training. He's the business. I hope that's not the last shot of me

with him. Like I say I have great respect for what he's done as a player, for what he's given to the club.

He's an amazing figure"

"Despite winning trophies, you always want to keep on winning more. The most important thing for me is to

keep on winning important titles with Barcelona. Every player is ambitious."

Remembering a Udo Steinberg, first scorer of ElClasico - Duration: 5:15.

El Clásico has become the biggest spectacle on the planet.

650 million people gather around the television to see a game which the whole world stops to watch.

A match with a 116-year old history, which began in a totally different manner to that which we now know.

LaLiga World would like to dig a bit deeper into the first ever El Clásico

and the first player to score a goal in the tie, Udo Steinberg.

"The first El Clásico took place in Madrid, in 1902, and coincided with the celebrations

celebrations for the coronation of Alfonso XIII, who was to come of age a few days later

and officially become king of Spain.

It was the precedent of what we now call the King's Cup.

The Spanish competition which was to become the King's Cup, began that year, in 1902,

at what was the Madrid racetrack"

"We're in the Nuevos Ministerios complex, which from the beginning of the nineteenth century was the Madrid racecourse.

It's where the Royal Horseracing Authority had its installations and where horse races were held.

So, this large area now occupied by the Nuevos Ministerios complex was a huge open space

where horseracing, which was a popular sport of the time, often took place."

"Football wasn't very well known at that time.

Match reports highlight the fact that there was a crowd of 2,000 people at the game.

That was considered to be a big turnout because very few people attended matches."

"They played in the morning which rarely happens these days."

"According to match reports of the time, which are our only point of reference, there was a big difference

in the quality of the Barça and Madrid teams.

Barça were a much more experienced side, in fact they'd been going for two and a half years.

They also had a lot more foreign players, which at that time meant they were a stronger side

and much better technically speaking."

"All the Madrid players were Spanish with one exception, an Englishman called Arthur Johnson

who scored Madrid's goal."

"Barça ended up winning 3-1, with two goals from Udo Steinberg."

"He scored the first goal in the game and then went on to get another."

"Udo Steinberg is an important figure in the history of Barça, but not much is known about him.

He was a foreigner, a German. He was an engineer.

He had started up a club in Germany and was among the founders of the German Federation of Football.

So, in a sporting sense, he was very restless."

"Steinberg was what was known at the start of the twentieth century as a 'sportsman'.

He wasn't just a reporter, he wasn't just a player or an organiser of sporting entities,

he actually did everything.

He was a very active person. He was a tennis reporter for the Mundo Deportivo newspaper.

And then it was him who laid the foundations for what would be the youth team set-up at Barcelona."

"He was an informal sort of coach for the third team and because of that founded the first school

for footballers at the club.

Also between 1902 and 1909 he was a director.

He was a director for 7 years, years in which he was also playing, because he was in the team

between 1902 and 1910.

In the same years he was a player he was also a director."

"He did a bit of everything. He left football in 1910 but continued to be linked to Barcelona.

He died in 1919, he must have been about 40. He died quite young."

"He's a figure who, considering his contribution to the club's development,

deserves far more attention than he's received so far."

LaLiga Profiles: Raúl González - Duration: 2:05.

The eternal captain, a star pupil with an incomparable instinct for goal, and above all else, a symbol of Real Madrid.

Who else could we be talking about but Raúl González Blanco

Despite beginning his footballing career at Atlético Madrid

his debut in Laliga was on the 29th of October 1994 and with the eternal rival.

The setting was La Romareda.

A stadium which saw the birth of a legend

and as destiny would have it, the scene of his last ever game in a white shirt.

Between the beginning and end which coincided in Zaragoza, Raúl González combined an amazing number

of goals and appearances with unforgettable performances.

Over the course of 16 seasons he made 741 appearances in a Real Madrid shirt

scoring 323 goals, 228 of them in LaLiga, making him the fifth highest goalscorer in the competition.

His achievements are beyond compare: 6 League titles,

3 European cups, 2 Intercontinental Cups, 1 European Super Cup and 4 Spanish Super cups.

If you talk about Raúl then you have to talk about goals.

This was his first, against his ex-team, Atlético.

He also scored another memorable strike against los colchoneros, which included a marvellous dribble past Juanma López.

Then there were the famous lobs which ended up in the back of the net

or the goal in El Clásico which silenced the Camp Nou.

Early on, Jorge Valdano said about him: "If he wants to make it to the top, he has my full permission".

And so was born the legend of Raúl González Blanco.
