already have one lesson about modal verbs here on my channel this is another

one because there are many things we can talk about when it comes to modal verbs

now the first thing you need to know when you start studying modal verbs is

when you can use modal verbs and when you cannot use modal verbs a very basic

step that many people don't follow and consequently they get very confused when

they should use it when they don't use it and they think they're all the same

thing or they never use one and they use the other so the first thing you need to do

is to study when you use and when you don't use these modal verbs so first

let's focus on the modal verb can I have a basic beginners guide lesson about

modal verb can okay so if you want to watch it after this video hey why not

now can modal verb can the first thing you need to know about it is you

only use it in the present no past no future the word can okay you will see

that there is a different way to use can in the past but the word can is only

used in the present that's it nothing else the second thing you need to know

about can is that there are specific situations when you have to use can for

example permission when you are asking for permission you can use can when you

are talking about ability you can use can to talk about ability

and remember what's the tense? simple present yeah as if you said that

congratulations and finally you can also use can to talk about possibility when

you want to say that something is not possible for example you can use can now

let's see some examples of ability permission and possibility so as I said

you can ask for permission for example oh excuse me can I open the window now

this is a very informal way to ask for permission so whenever you use can to

ask for permission it's informal it's more casual okay if you are talking to

someone in a more formal way can is not the best for you the second

thing as I said ability and remember in the present today in the current time

this current moment I use can to talk about my ability so I can speak English

how about you can you speak English let me know here in the comments but I'm pretty

sure you can and the third thing I said possibility when we want to talk about

for example things that are not possible let's say come on you can't be hungry

you had lunch thirty minutes ago you can't be hungry does this happen to you

do you have lunch and after like 30 minutes you are starving to death let me

know in the comments if this happens to you it happens to me sometimes I'm not

gonna lie and I'm not very proud of it but I usually just have a snack or

something to help me wait for the next meal now let's move on to the next one

could could cannot be used in the present because could is the past of can

okay first thing you need to know it's used in the past and in other specific

situations now there are specific uses for could

let's check them out shall we the first thing you need to do is that you can

make a polite request with good what is that supposed to mean for example if I'm

gonna ask someone for something I can say oh could I get some water please

this is a little bit more formal than can okay so instead of saying can I get some

water I can say could I get some water okay in this kind of questions when

you're making polite requests it's not in the past it's just a polite way to

ask okay so could I get some water could you open the window please it's so hot

in here now remember if you're talking to your

friends could is too formal completely unnecessary so focus on can

if you're talking to people you like people you know and use could if you

want to be a little bit more formal you can also offer someone something for

example you have a guest in your apartment or in your house and then you

want to offer them something you want to offer them some water or something you

have you can say could could I get you something to drink

now remember it's formal okay it's not so natural if your friends are

sleeping over your place you don't need to say could you can say can okay

so you can offer you can ask questions you can ask for permission with could in

a little bit more formal way okay in a polite way

now as I said at the beginning could is the past of can so I can talk about an

ability that I had in the past so when I was a child simple past when I was a

child I could not run so it's something I couldn't do but today I can okay so it

is possible to use could just to talk about past abilities so if I use can I'm

talking about present abilities if I use could past abilities now let's move on

to the next one be able to first thing you need to know is it's not a modal

verb what yes I'm sorry I said modal verbs in the title clickbait well it is not

really clickbait because I did talk about modal verbs but what's, why is it

important for me to show you be able to because I've had so many students who

whenever they needed to talk about future things they would use can to talk

about the future and this doesn't work remember the first thing I said about

can only in the present could only in the past or for polite requests is

permission in a polite way in a polite and formal way but how do I do it if I

want to talk about future abilities future things that I think I will have

the ability to do be able to that's why it's so important for me to show you

this that's what many students fail to study and they try to use can in the

future and that doesn't work so be able to is a normal verb okay it's just like

any other verb sleep go work the difference is it's a little bit longer

be verb to be you need to conjugate verbs to be able to and together this

three word verb will give you the meaning of future abilities future

possibilities it depends on what you're talking about so I can also use be

able to in the present in the past with present perfect because be able to is a

very flexible verb so depending on what you want to say it's better to use be

able to rather than can or even could let's see some examples I haven't been

able to sleep very well lately here I use it present perfect I haven't been

able to sleep very well lately it wouldn't work in the past it wouldn't

work in the present the back one I have here is be able to because I

can use it in different tenses I can use it in the present perfect should give

this idea of something that has been happening for some time it started in

the past it continued in the present and there's

a good chance it'll continue in the future

present perfect another thing you can do with be able to is to use this verb in

the middle of sentences you cannot do that with can or could for example you

needs to be able to speak two languages in order to apply for this job I cannot

do that with can I can't just throw can in the middle of a phrase as a complement

verb to another verb I can't do that but I can do that with be able to future hmm

I will be able to travel when I finish all my projects so I'm saying that I

will have the possibility I'll have the possibility to travel I will be able to

Drake & Kendrick Perkins Traded Verbal Jabs at Cavs-Raptors Game - Duration: 1:18.

Could Drake's beef with Cavs player Kendrick Perkins be the new Dwayne Wade versus Kevin

Hart beef for the 2018 NBA Playoffs?

It damn sure looks like it.

Last night, the Cavs defeated the Raptors in Game 1 of the conference semifinals, but

the real friction kicked off during halftime.

At the time, Cavs backup center Kendrick Perkins was throwing shots at Serge Ibaka, who is

not only the Raptors center but was his teammate on the OKC Thunder.

ESPN caught up with Perkins, who explained his side of the story.

"I was f---ing with Serge, my old teammate.

I wasn't talking to [Drake].

[I was] telling him, 'We about to win this game,' and Drake butted in talking s--- to

me.

So I said something back to him.

He said something slick, so I said something back: 'Sit your ass down and watch the game.'"

The 6 God is not only a regular at courtside for Raptors home games, but is the Raptors

global ambassador, and has been known to clap at the opposing team before; hell, back in

Round 1, he threw shots at both Kelly Oubre Jr. AND John Wall of the Wizards from the

sideline.

For what it's worth, Drake didn't shed too much light on the altercation, aside from

posting on Instagram that he said he liked the hem on Perkins' capris.

For what it's worth, there was a lot of security around Drake after Perkins walked

to the Cavs lockerroom, and he could be heard saying things like "I didn't say that

sh*t," so this situation could be a bit more heated than Drizzy is putting on.

Like the Dwayne Wade / Kevin Hart beef during the Heat/Sixers series, it's dope to see

celebs get that involved in the Playoffs, as long as things stay on a certain friendly

level.

24 Reasons Kingsman 1 & Kingsman 2 Are Different - Duration: 7:43.

Kingsman: The Secret Service is an action movie on the surface, but there's some comedic

elements in the first movie and the laughing moments remind you not to take the film too

serious.

With the sequel, there's action and jokes too, but even with that, the movie comes off

as a social justice warrior just say no to drugs advertisement.

Both movies introduce the villain's half man half metal henchman.

The biggest difference is Gazelle is a bad mother shut your mouth, I'm just talking

about a movie character.

And Charlie is a wuse.

They establish him as a snitch in the first movie so it's hard to believe he's all

of the sudden a bad a word in the sequel.

It's not just the villain's henchman that get a downgrade in part 2.

Merlin was a great guy in the chair in the first movie.

He was funny, smart and had a backup plan for any problem they faced in the field.

In this movie, he's face with adversity and his idea is to kill himself.

In Kingsman: The Secret Service every character has a purpose.

Eggsy has a best friend of the opposite sex, a mentor on the job, and a guy in the chair.In

this movie there's two characters to one purpose so it's easy to predict who's

going to die.

She dies, because Eggsy already has a best friend of the opposite sex.

He dies, because Eggsy already has a mentor on the job to show him the ropes and he dies

because Halle Berry is the guy in the chair now.

Eggsy is just as lethal behind a wheel than he is behind a trigger.

He goes for a joyride in Kingsman 1 and 2, but the difference is the police catch him

in part 1 and he slips away in the sequel.

Along with his excellent driving record, Eggsy is able to hold his breath for long periods

of time without drowning.

In Kingsman: The Secret Service, he holds his breath for X minutes which is total crap.

In Kingsman: The Golden, he actually holds in crap so that's total crap too, but in

a literally.

The woman Eggsy loves in Kingsman: The Secret Service is his mother.

She's in an abusive relationship and she won't get out of it because her judgement

is impaired since she's on drugs.

The woman Eggsy loves in Kingsman: The Golden Circle is his girlfriend.

She's in a healthy relationship and tries to get out of it because her judgement is

impaired since she's on drugs.

As for the person Eggsy hates, it's clearly the villain.

The villain is a self made billionaire, but is really down to earth.

They enjoy eating fast food, although Valentine prefers delivery and Poppy likes the homemade

kind.

Out of the two of the bad guys, I'll say Valentine is the smartest.

He made his billions the legal way by starting a tech company and Poppy's an idiot because

she can't file her taxes since she made her money by dealing drugs.

And she's extra dumb for taking her profits and investing in the restaurant business which

have over a 70% failure rate, and on top of that she launches her restaurant in the middle

of nowhere too far out to schedule deliveries.

In the first film they have the real president as a character.

In the second movie, it's a fictional president.

It would've worked out better if they would've just showed the back of his head and cut most

of his scenes and focused on something else.

The villains plan is to, in their minds, save the world.

They plan on killing off more than a third of the world's population for what they

believe is the greater good.

In these types of movies the bad guy always get caught, but Valentine has the best opportunity

to succeed because he negotiates with the president so he doesn't have to go toe to

toe with the U.S. military.

Poppa terrorizes the president which is a bad idea since America doesn't negotiate

with terrorists.

If she would've just called him, they might've been able to work something out since the

president likes her evil plan.

The only thing that stands in the way of the evil bad guy is the Kingsman organization.

Whoops, nevermind.

Poppa blew up every living member of Kingsman minus two so there's barely any heroes and

all of that world building they did in part 1 was in vain.

The weapons in the first Kingsman blend well in everyday scenarios so you could always

catch an enemy off guard.

The weapons in the second Kingsman jump the shark.

You can't get a baseball bat pass security because it's obviously a weapon and the

baseball element is just trying to hard.

The best part about Kingsman was even though they set up the agents to be these almost

superhuman killing machines.

You got the feeling they were still vulnerable and could die at any moment, just like a regular

human being.

In the sequel, they jacked up the storyline and no one could die, even with a head shot.

Which makes no sense because the agent's skill level in Kingsman: The Secret Service

is way more polished.

During the bar fight, Harry could knock out his adversaries with a single blow.

In The Golden Circle, he gets his butt handed to him and has to let the Statesman do his

dirty work.

Harry's the one with memory loss, but for some reasons it seems like the writers suffer

from memory loss.

Eggsy's character has a natural instinct and could read people's character.

Eggsy never trusted Charlie and Charlie turned out to be a snitch.

He never trusted Arthur and Arthur turns out to be a sellout.

All of the sudden in the sequel, Eggsy trusts everybody when it's obvious they're a

double agent.

The writers give all the natural qualities that make Eggsy Eggsy to Harry.

Along with their memory loss.

The writers for Kingsman The Golden Circle are lazy as hell.

You could tell they wrote the script for The Golden Circle in 2014 and used the same script

in 2017 because they didn't want to do any rewrites.

In Kingsman, the villain's master plan is about fixing global warming which was a huge

current event topic in 2014 so I get it.

In the sequel, the villain's master plan is a war on illegal drugs.

Problem is cannibus was illegal in 2014 when the script was written, but as of November

2016, weed has been legalized in 8 states and counting so they were better off writing

about something else.

Either the script is outdated or it's just a bad idea.

The marketing on the movie wasn't any better.

Everyone you see on the poster in Kingsman, you get in Kingsman.

Most of the people you see in Kingsman 2, you'll get in Kingsman 3.

Hopefully, because Channing Tatum looked like he was going to be featured heavily, but Elton

John, who's a cameo in the movie had more screen time than him.

One more thing about the villain I couldn't stand was the tick wasn't consistent.

Valentine had a tick that was annoying, but it was consistent.

He talked with a lisp and although he was evil, he was overly sensitive and hate seeing

blood or gore.

Which is why hired people to do his dirty work or threw up when he had to do it.

Poppy's tick is she's dependent on technology instead of man, yet she trust men to do her

most important assignments.

Also, she's overly obsessed with the 50s, yet she chooses the 70s version of Elton John

as her prisoner when someone with her tick would clearly prefer someone from the 50s.

Kingsman, highlight was the church scene and it's one of those moments that's lightning

in a bottle so you can't recreate.

They do try to recreate the other action sequences.

The scene in the Secret Service where Eggsy fights all the soldiers one on one with an

umbrella.

They try to do the exact same scene in Golden Circle, but give him an umbrella and a suitcase

this time.

It doesn't work.

Then they try to redo the final fight scene where Eggsy defeated Gazelle.

Eggsy actually got whooped in the first movie which makes the fight more epic that he actually

won in the end.

In Golden Circle, if you're fighting one handed, it's too easy, if it's too easy,

no one cares.

Both villains get shot with a needle.

Valentine's fatality is epic.

Poppy's fatality is so comical even she laughs at how much of a bad idea it was.

When Eggsy rescues the princess she gives him some booty in this movie.

In this movie he puts a ring on it.

Although it's the Christian thing to do, these two have no chemistry and all it means

we get to look forward to more of this dry romance in the third film.

Those are 24 reasons these movies are different so truth or dare, like and share, leave a

President Trump wants to arm teachers in schools to try to prevent gunman from

breaking in shooting up the place this is trip and this is what I think about

that subject one possibility is that teachers would have concealed carry

weapons either on their person which reminds me of kind of like a police

state or they would probably more likely have them in a safe place where they

could get to the weapon would it be would it be a safe box and inside the

classroom or would it be in the in the principal's office or the administrative

office how would it be secured who would be able to get to it with that person be

available to get to it in time and when somebody breaks in and shooting starts

the adrenaline is adrenaline adrenaline is high and that's tough for anybody to

make a decision under those circumstances and what kind of weapon

would you have in the school would you have another arsenal of weapons or

including automatic rifles which I presume it would take to defeat another

automatic rifle or maybe a maybe it's a smaller caliber weapon and some kind of

click and fire I don't know so we talked about training teachers I guess we would

have to have like another supplement like some teachers give special

supplements for knowing an additional subject or having a certification in it

whether it's math or special education I guess we'd add one for weapons training

so when a teacher goes to apply for a job they say well mrs. Jones oh you

you're in the top 10% of your graduating class and teacher education you're

trained to teach the science mathematics physics whatever but let's see do you

have a weapon certification we really need that now I see all kinds of issues

with that plus the additional cost of paying somebody a supplement the

training the cost of training to provide to

teachers we already have a society that's that's beset by terrorism and and

in mass shootings it can occur we have we have protection of airports and and

some concerts and concerts now any public gathering of people we didn't

have this another I was young think of the cost of having to arm these teachers

but also you go to government buildings and there are security there often

usually it's at the front door even the smallest courthouses in the smallest

towns that I know they have a person there who's at the door

providing security when reality I don't think that it really provide much

security anybody can just walk up and just shoot somebody one time and they

can go wherever they want to go I'm sure it would probably scare off some some

criminals I don't think it would scare off a determined shooter and we're we're

talking about the cost of those people as far as schools the discussion seems

to be about arming teachers and public schools private schools can't get

taxpayer money what becomes of them now waiting for a big shooting at a private

school well I guess the parents would have to have to add that to the cost of

the tuition ascend the children there how about churches how many churches can

we protect I know churches now that that have a security detail attached to them

and they patrol around what a distraction all of this is when solution

is our more money for mental institutions and hospitals that's what

we need is another way another way to write off more indigent care more

charity cases more money for personnel for medical professionals one thing we

do is it improve the background checks that would be a good thing that's that's

more cost effective than other possibilities increase the waiting

period whatever it is double it triple it maybe depending on the kind of weapon

Society has entered into a kind of a siege mentality to me as sort of a

breakdown of the culture is we have enough problem with terrorists coming in

here from from from foreign certain foreign countries and and blending into

their communities wherever they're from and we can't exist the law enforcement

can expect a lot of help from from those communities in some cases although most

of the people are much the people are nonviolent in in those communities a lot

of them are illegals people that come in we don't really know what they're doing

obviously millions of those as far as the culture we have kind of a map of

copycat culture somebody sees something on TV or film and they want to go out

and try it too we have violent video games why can't we bend a lot of the

video games where somebody's actually shooting at a human being what about

television there's so much violence everywhere that we look you know I'm not

for getting rid of all kinds of entertainment but of course I don't know

what point will will come to with it all and naturally the biggest problem of all

is not shootings in the schools that's a very small percentage of people who were

who were killed the bigger problem is in the inner cities in the wider society

because everybody knows just about it you read in the paper or see it on the

news all the time about somebody being shot a killing whatever so this is what

I think about it all I don't really see a good solution and I just don't know

where it will come from it's just spending more money and becoming more of

a of a siege oriented society and that's disappointing because it wasn't that way
