Milk Soap making How to make soap with milk improvised soap molds diy cold process swirling comb 094 - Duration: 24:06.

hi everyone I'm Cathy the clumsy soaper welcome back soap lovers and if you are

new here please consider subscribing and hit the bell notification icon for a

weekly soap making video DIY tutorials are recipe sharing from me

soap making is my passion so I would really appreciate if you can join me in

my soap making journey so we can learn and grow together

alright so plumbers let's get started in this video there are three important

things that I aim to share number one on how can we save some money in making our

own improvised soap mold using an empty milk carton number two I'll give you

some of the tips and tricks that I follow in making milk soap and number

three I'll share with you and how can we save some money by using a comb as a

tool in designing our soaps the video that we have today is slightly longer

than the usual length of the video that I normally share in this channel because

there are two parts part one will be the making of the improvised soap mold and

then for a number two we will focus more on milk soap making now we have an empty

milk carton but I did was to ensure that there's two leftover milk inside and

then fill it up with around 250 ml of water shake it a bit and then discard

the water away and then just wash it a few more times until the water that

comes out is already clear and and keep it upside down to dry the milk

carton either this was I did prior to this step so now using a cutter

let's cut open one side of the milk carton there is no specific orientations

if you can do this but for me I recommend to keep the opening of the

carton on the upper end to avoid any leakage once the container is open you

can just wipe it dry with a paper towel and then now using a scotch tape

I just reinforce the sides of the milk carton because remember we've already

taken out one side of that and I'm afraid if if we already fill it up with

our soap batter it will bulge on the side and to ensure that we don't have

that bulging I am reinforcing the side with the scotch tape you can do this two

or three times

and then just properly secure the tape so it looks neat and nice

next just like what we did last week we will line our milk carton and with an

overhead projector transparency film just like what we did in our pringles can

so now I'm just eyeballing to fold the sides of the transparency film to

follow the edges of the milk carton we don't need any measurements here

okay now if you see that I folded it just the same size with a milk carton

outside so because the inner side of the milk carton is slightly smaller we need

to fold it a little bit shorter than the outer edge you'll see me do that later

so I did some adjustment using a scissors we need to cut a diagonal slit in the four

corners of the transparency film just like what I'm doing now so that it's

much easier for us to fold our liner and also easier for us to slap it inside the

milk carton

then you can do some slight adjustments just to make sure that the transparency

film would fit nicely into our milk carton

next using a scotch tape again we can secure the acetate film or transparency

film into the milk carton we need to do this in the four corners just to make

sure that it doesn't bulge or leak when we pour our soap butter so this is our

simple way to save some money in our soap mold by improvising a milk carton

and then for the time that we consume it took me less than 10 minutes to make

this improvised loaf mode so if you want around shape soap you can improvise the

Pringles canister for that and if you want a loaf mode or a slab mode you can

use a milk carton

this is a one liter milk are done so we can produce ten to twelve bars of soaps

at full capacity so today we say 20 to 30 US dollars for the price of a loaf

mold and we can use this as many times as we want we just need to change the

transparency liner but remember that in time it will start to soften and when

that happens you just throw away your milk carton and make a new one it's that

easy now we can start with making our full cream milk so in this project I

have three colorants and what I did is to premix all the 3 called the runs with

the oils and place it into this condiments container my milk so process

entirely different compared to others wherein they would normally would

dissolve the milk into the lye solution but for me what I would normally do is

to pour the lye solution into the oil then I have here the frozen full cream

milk and place it into the oil and light solution mixture and then I just need to

fill it gently just mix it in

because remember when we pour the lye solution into the oil there will be a

chemical reaction saponification will start and

saponification will generate heat and since it is exothermic in nature it will

quickly help to melt the frozen milk just remember that when you make me up

soap always ensure that your temperature goes below 40 degree Celsius I would

normally just target a maximum of 35 degree Celsius to be always in the paper

type and to avoid scorching of the mill now don't matter you already are a light

rate temperature is 21 point one degree Celsius so we can pour this into our

tolerance temperature is a critical factor in

making milk soap so we really have to control it properly and another thing

that we have to consider is also the amount of mixing I know that most of you

are using immersion blender that's fine but try to avoid overmixing you guess

that will also trigger and increase in temperature so here please proportion of

the butter in the triple graphs that we just for some of the butter

intimacies single cavities of wood so we can see the color of the soap is and now

we can start designing our so I am NOT a fan of repetitive work but for the

design that I'd like to do today I will need three parallel black colors using a

squeeze bottle so what I did was to look for a squeeze bottle that has a three

head point and that's what I'm using right now and because the opening are

small I just cut a portion of that three-point head to make the openings

bigger and see one squeeze I can put three lines at one go it's much faster

and it's easier and the spacing will definitely be the

same no matter what I do this is another simple trick that we can do to save some

time and effort if in case we need to use a squeeze bottle and this is

available in your local shop what happened here think there is a clog in

the middle of the Chris bottle so I just need to take this one out then we can

move to the next color and have right here in the nature I'll

squeeze in the color red while we are doing this let me just give you a little

and it's also time consuming so if it takes you to improvise something that

will take more than that will use up more than 30 minutes of your time it's

not worth it remember time is also money and this

comb is just 60 cents it will produce the same design the spaces are even and

it's way cheaper and you don't need to exert so much effort but it's all up to

you this is just my suggestion and my alternative way to

do things now we can unmold or so the milk carton is still intact so we still

can reuse this next time we just need to change to a new liner I also have to

mention that this milk soap is just kept at room temperature I did keep it in the

freezer normally others would suggest to keep it in the freezer for 24 to 48

hours just to make sure that it doesn't overheat or it doesn't scorch but for my

case as I've already mentioned to you as well as you keep the temperature below

40 degree Celsius you wouldn't have a problem on overheating or scorching of

the milk so and you can see that in the surface I am unmoving right now look at

the color at the bottom of the so that is the original color and there's no

scorching color of the so crystal creamy and it didn't turn orange yellow or

brownish

now let's unmold the soap that I left in the single cavity real smooth there cool

cool see I like the color of this one very nice

and this regional color we didn't add anything so that next week in US this

baby in tune so far I like how the clumsy come through email

but I'm not so sure and it looks like a dragon scale of McHale or some please

Why Yankee Doodle Called the Feather in His Hat Macaroni - Duration: 9:59.

Hello I'm Daven Hiskey, you're watching the Today I Found Out YouTube channel.

In the video today, we're looking at why Yankee Doodle called the feather in his cap

macaroni and the origin of the song.

As with a lot of older songs, the tune and music that we today associate with "Yankee

Doodle" was actually written much earlier than the 18th century.

The melody may have been heard as early as the 1500s in Holland, with rather nonsensical

lyrics about the harvest and farmers receiving their wage in buttermilk.

Over the next two centuries, that particularly melody bounced around Europe and was re-appropriated

for various other little jingles - like describing the struggles of English Puritans or used

in nursery rhymes.

(For instance, "Lucy Locket lost her pocket, Kitty Fisher found it, nothing in it, nothing

in it, but the binding round it"- a rhyme that may or may not have been written before

the tune started being used for Yankee Doodle).

Another theory is the Hessians were the ones who originally brought the tune to the colonies

from Germany, where it was being used in a drinking song.

(Incidentally, the tune for the Star Spangled Banner was also originally used in a popular

drinking song.)

Much like the origin of the melody, where the well-known lyrics came from is also not

definitively known.

One popular theory is that similar lyrics were first used to make fun of Oliver Cromwell,

the 17th century English political and military leader, for fancying himself a fashionable

person.

The purported lyrics are sometimes said to have begun "Yankee doodle come to town,

upon on a Kentish pony."

However, this seems unlikely considering the word "Yankee" didn't come along until

years after Cromwell, with the first known documented instance appearing in 1683- used

by Dutch settlers in New Amsterdam (today's New York) to disparage their English colonist

neighbors in Connecticut.

Stemming from the Dutch "Janke" meaning "Little John," "Yankee" was definitely

intended as a belittling remark and became the European way to describe all American

colonists, more or less being the equivalent of calling someone a "country bumpkin", "redneck,"

or "dumb hick" today.

(Jaywalker is another term that originally has derogatory connotations- deriving from

the insult "jay," meaning more or less "dumb hillbilly.")

The first known documented instance of the tune and the words "Yankee" and "doodle

dandy" being put together in the same song, it seems, was around the 1750s during the

French and Indian War.

Prior to fighting for their independence against the British, the colonists were, of course,

subjects of the English.

Therefore, when the French and Brits went to war over territories in the New World in

1753, the colonists were recruited to join in on the English side.

Legend has it, whether true or not is anybody's guess as no known hard, direct documented

evidence has survived supporting this oft-told story, that a British army surgeon named Dr.

Richard Shuckburg (who is known to have existed) saw the colonist recruits amble up to join

the regular soldiers.

Compared to the well-assembled and well-manicured English army, the colonists were a mess.

Wearing "fashions that hadn't been seen in England in a hundred years" and holding

every weapon except those "familiar to the fresh, well-drilled British troops," Dr.

Shuckburg couldn't help but laugh... and write a song.

While not exactly the song we've come to know, the song that supposedly inspired Yankee

Doodle, whether actually written by Dr. Shuckburg or not, went like this:

Brother Ephraim sold his cow And bought him a commission

And then he went to Canada To fight for the nation;

But when Ephraim, he came home

He proved an arrant coward, He wouldn't fight the

Frenchmen there For fear of being devoured.

Sheep's head and vinegar Buttermilk and tansy

Boston Is a Yankee town, Sing "Hey, doodle dandy!"

The original sheet music for this noted that the song should be sung "through the nose,

& in the West Country drawl & dialect."

In other words, it was meant to not only be mocking in lyrics, but tone.

As for "Brother Ephraim," this is thought to refer to Colonel Ephraim Williams of the

Massachusetts militia, who ultimately was killed at the Battle of Lake George during

the French and Indian War.

Upon completing the lyrics, purportedly Dr. Shuckburg gave it over to the Continental

marching band who played "amid shouts of laughter in the English ranks."

Whoever really wrote it, by 1768, the Boston Journal of the Times noted that the British

were playing "that 'Yankee Doodle' song," though the Times didn't elaborate on what

the lyrics were to this version.

At this point, the song was constantly being remixed with slightly different lyrics, tunes

and meanings, as was common for pretty much all popular songs at the time.

What united many of the earliest versions of this song was the not-so-subtle mocking

of colonists as nothing more than moronic, unsophisticated, country yokels.

For instance, after George Washington was made commander of the rebel armies, some unknown

individual wrote the following lyrics, Then Congress sent great Washington,

All clothed in power and breeches, To meet old Britain's warlike sons

And make some rebel speeches Yet another version included the lines,

Yankee Doodle came to town, For to buy a firelock, (a musket)

We will tar and feather him, And so we will John Hancock.

A slightly more familiar version to those of us today is also one of the earlier known

versions, generally credited to Harvard sophomore and American Minuteman Edward Bangs:

Father and I went down to camp, Along with Captain Gooding,

And there we saw the men and boys As thick as hasty pudding.

Yankee Doodle keep it up, Yankee Doodle dandy,

Mind the music and the step, And with the girls be handy

Continuing to turn the lyrics around, with the colonists variously either taking pride

in the song and/or directly mocking the British, we have lyrics like

Yankee Doodle is the tune That we all delight in;

It suits for feasts, it suits for fun, And just as well for fightin'.

Historians aren't completely sure when the verse about sticking "a feather in his hat

and calling it macaroni" came to be.

The oldest known print version of this didn't appear until all the way in 1842, published

in London in the book The Nursery Rhymes of England by James Orchard Halliwell, though

this particular lyric is obviously thought to date back to the American Revolution, partially

due to the term being used here, which dates it somewhat, and how mocking the use of it

was.

Stepping back a little to a term related to "macaroni," there's an interesting side

tale about the evolution of the word "doodle" to one that's more used today - "dude."

According to esteemed etymologists Barry Popik and Gerald Cohen, "dude" was first used

in the 1880s as a way to describe young New York City men who had an affinity for being

flamboyantly well-dressed, well-manicured and overly pretentious - in other words, a

"dandy."

Using the very words that were used to mock colonists a hundred years earlier - "doodle

dandy" - people started to call these 19th century men that as well, as a means to essentially

call them pretentious fools.

Later, this got shortened to "doodles," then to "doods."

Eventually, the spelling was changed to "dude."

(And if you're curious, the original female equivalent was dudine.)

Back to the related term "macaroni"- this term pertains to the habit of rich 18th century

English men going on so-called "Grand Tours."

Sort of like the more modern "gap year," young adult men who could afford it would

take long trips around Europe, learning about the culture, art and history of neighboring

countries.

Particularly those from "new money" would sometimes come back with more refined tastes

- like an appreciation for French art, fancy exotic clothes and Italian food.

These individuals' often over the top attempts at trying to appear refined upon their return-

speaking a mix of Latin and English and wearing foppish attire complete with massive "Macaroni"

wigs and not one, but two pocket watches- were occasionally mocked for this.

One of the nicknames they were given at this time was "macaronis."

The individuals were also considered to be part of the informal "Macaroni Club" and would

refer to flamboyant fashion and the like as "very macaroni."

As for the origin of the term itself, it is presumed to originally derive from the fact

that macaroni was a relatively exotic food for the British and must have been something

at least some of these individuals raved about upon their return to England.

The Oxford Magazine described the so-called Macaroni Club members in 1770 as follows:

"There is indeed a kind of animal, neither male nor female, a thing of the neuter gender,

lately started up among us.

It is called a macaroni.

It talks without meaning, it smiles without pleasantry, it eats without appetite, it rides

without exercise, it wenches without passion."

In other words, when the particular lyrics "stuck a feather in his cap and called it

macaroni" were added to the Yankee Doodle song, the author was essentially saying that

colonists were such low class, moronic fools that they thought by sticking a simple feather

in their hat, they were being extremely refined and fashionable.

In the end, there were possibly even hundreds of versions of Yankee Doodle in popular circulation

during the American Revolution, some initially used by the British to mock their rebellious

subjects.

In turn, the Americans embraced the song, creating countless versions of their own and

other times simply taking pride in the lyrics which were supposed to be mocking.

This brings us to October 19, 1781 when General Cornwallis formally surrendered to American

and French forces at Yorktown, Virginia.

Legend has it that, as a way to mock the defeated troops, famed French commandeer and hero of

the American Revolution Marquis de Lafayette ordered the band to play "Yankee Doodle,"

with the victorious soldiers singing along.

With the release of his 13th studio album, 4:44, Jay Z became the talk of Rap Twitter

and the world of music in general.

Whether it was the title track being a response to Beyonce's Lemonade or the numerous shots

he took on the album, Jay got people talking.

That said, we have a feeling that there were some things that were missed during people's

first listen.

If you missed some of the subtle messages and references on the album, don't trip;

One of the biggest talking points took place on "Smile," which featured Jay's mother

Gloria Carter.

On the song, Hov opened up about his mother's sexuality, letting the world know that she

was a lesbian.

This isn't the first time that Jay has shown his support for the LGBTQ community.

In 2012, he applauded President Obama's stance on same-sex relationships, but there's

no word on how long he'd been holding onto his mother's secret, or why they chose to

speak on it now.

Also on "Smile" is a subtle reference to Hov's 2015 falling out with Funkmaster

Flex.

Take a listen.

The feeling is that this is a reference to Flex getting on the radio and calling Jay

Z's blog Life+Times trash after Flex accused Jay's Life+Times team of jacking ideas from

his app for their own.

After going on an infamous, bomb-filled rant, Flex got a text from Hov that he felt disrespected

by due to Hov sending his name over in all caps.

You could look at Jay's quick line on "Smile" as him letting Flex know that he hasn't

forgotten, or just amusing himself.

One thing we don't know about the album is how long go Jay Z started making it, but

judging by this one line about Al Sharpton's viral gym selfies on "Family Feud," we

imagine Jay was working on 4:44 down to the wire.

And yes, you heard that correctly: Hov definitely called Bill Cosby Pill Cosby in reference

to the sexual assault allegations that have been lodged against the comedian.

This is just the tip of the iceberg; there's more gems that Jay placed throughout 4:44.

Should you do fast-track on your research.

Well, this depends.

If you do decide to fast-track you waste millions of dollars on fast-tracking and then waste millions

on actually buying the upgrade.

If you do research regularly you waste 300 hours in game, but you don't have to waste

as much as you were going to if you fast-tracked.

In my own personal opinion you should just wait for the research to finish because in

the meantime you can do biker business and CEO crates and vehicles.

If you look at the stats you can make about 2 million if you have a team of 4 doing biker

and CEO work.

If you want to know how I got the stats check out the link in the description to a google

sheet that I made about hourly income.

I know that many other bigger YouTubers say to just to fast-track but I don't believe

they know how long it takes to make the money to do fast-tracking, becasue in my experience

it take as long to get the money to fast-track as it would to do research regularly if not

longer.

So let's go over some of the stuff from this last week... which includes hearing about

dot hack for the first time in about a decade.. an official Ragnarok Online Re-Release creeps

ever closer..

Black Desert always has something going on.. and we'll look at some releases and betas..

and more.. coming up.

Ok.. so dot hack may not be something you're aware exists.. which largely is an age thing-

the best thing I can say about it.. as to why this may be relevant or why I may even

be interested in this at all.. is the same way people can't shut up about Sword Art Online,

dot hack.. was my.. or our version of SAO growing up.

It was an anime and game series.. about players.. in an mmorpg game.. and at the time.. was

actually pretty damn good.

The news surrounding dot hack.. as revealed by Bandai Namco is that we're going to be

seeing an HD remaster of the .hack GU series, which funny enough.. is set in 2017.. with

new elements to update and make the game feel new.

And while remakes and remasters have largely left me unimpressed..

I seriously cannot wait for this.

To put this into scope.. depending on how long you've followed me- you may remember

years ago I had my apartment burn down and lost my entire game collection.. and some

of the only pieces I've even thought to replace.. was my old PS2 slim.. and actively hunt down

non reproductions of the.. many games in the dot hack series.. so yeah, this remake piqued

my interest.

the game as it comes out.

It's going to be set up- so every month there is an update pushed out.. which will gradually

unlock more and more of the world and the content.. until 3rd job happens and everybody

leaves.

I don't like playing on private servers of games.. so I never really spent time on private

servers.. so if I was to want to revisit the past.. for let's be real.. a month.. this

is how I would do it.

The only thing we know about the release is that it's coming "soon".. but over at MMORPG.com

there are some headstart codes being given out.. and so that I don't just plug MMORPG.com...

mmosite.com is having it's 12th anniverary with giveaways and a bunch of keys at the

ready for games that I wouldn't play.. and some spin the wheel thing.. and mmos.com still

has my 2 favorite voices in mmos in the altay brothers and.. its not saying much because

of how bad some of the other sites are.. but mmos.com is definitely one of the easier to

navigate and use mmo based websites.

Black Desert.

Now there is something to talk about with Black Desert pretty much every week.

New events, new annoucements.. new teasers.. speculating on when and what Korean content

is coming- just this week the awakening weapon of the striker class was pushed into NA- but

I don't want to dwell there.. instead I want to draw attention to a couple of things..

mainly an increasing of it's market reach.. at E3 Black Desert Announced it was going

to be released for the Xbox One X in Q1 of 2018.. later this year- we know Red Fox games

is releasing a South American set of servers.. and earlier this week..

Black Desert Online China was announced.. and.. there are even rumblings that Asiasoft

is working to publish a South East Asian server.. and this is following the steam release..

which is not only seeing impressive numbers.. but consistent numbers.. and is going on sale

again soon...and then.. talking about exposing the game to new markets..

I've been seeing Reckful and Summit and other large sometimes non-mmorpg gamers.. streaming

the game for what looks like leisure..

I don't know if it's sponsored or not.. but it can't hurt.

Black Desert putting in that work.. getting hands in every pot.

I've always been incredibly positive about the game.. and this is all good news..

I think it's going to absolutely smash the console market when it comes to it.

Love it or hate it.. and there are very strong feelings on both sides there.. it's not going

away anytime soon.

So..

I've been playing Stormblood so I haven't gotten a huge chance to check out some of

the new releases.. but notable ones include MXM, Master x Master- which is a very strange

hyrbid moba/brawler.. thing.

That surprising has really fun co-op.. unfortunately it doesn't seem to be getting a lot of word

of mouth... and the game utilizes a god awful mobile based interface, daily login rewards,

crafting.. gacha style interface.

Which I don't hate.. as I enjoy mobile games and am used to it.

I'm sorry..

I do.

But interface is incredibly important and it is clumsy as fuck.. but the game itself

is pretty fun.. at least for the 2 hours I've put into it so far.. it reminds me of like

Smash TV.. if it kept getting developed for with MOBA heroes- and with game mods ranging

from co-op PvE.. to Arena.. to literal 3 lane MOBA... and Secret World Legends.. which to

be short.

I spent less than 5 hours in the original..

I probably won't touch legends.. just have no interest.. but if you are interested in

the changes or what's new..

The Hive Leader.. the best kept secret on the internet has been a long time fan.. and

has talked about the new Secret World Legends..

I'll link off in the description as well.. subscribe to him if you haven't.. and he even

has an overview of MxM if my probably horribly incorrect 2 hour summary didn't suffice.

Interesting to all gamers is the Steam Summer Sale.. which is massive and too large for

me to make sense of.

I'll be waiting for a total biscuit video on that myself..

I do know that almost every single Final Fantasy game is flat out 50% off and Shadows of Mordor

is like less than $5 and is worth every penny.

And mobile-wise.. oh man..

I don't know if I've ever conveyed to you about my love of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius..

but they just added like the best patch ever.. the game itself just keeps getting better

and better.. and better.. and I really should just get around to talking about it specifically

on the channel.. but it's

at a perfect entry point right now.. or if you are looking for new hotness- Fate/Grand

Order gets released on the 25th.. which fuck me I'm going to end up playing.. and terra

battle 2 has been teased for it's summer release.. and oh man.

I'm getting to a point where whether I'm being manipulated by these gacha style games or

not..

I'm just not going to have enough free time in the day to play real games.. and instead

play these shitty slot machines for dopamean payouts.

Overall..

Not a ton of news as it's right after E3- but I want to pose a question.. as I see Cities

Skyline now coming to PS4.. and Skyforge and Marvel Heroes.. what do you think about console

releases of PC games and what are your feelings on this trend of remake and remaster everything...

like Shadows of the Colossus, no hate, is getting a re, re master.

dark it's like pitch black on my screen I don't know if it it's probably a lot

lighter on your guys's screen like it's probably a lot brighter to you but I

have I've lights in my face right now so it's gonna be hard for me to see

anything what is this is that an altar I don't have anything I'm gonna save my

friend all turrets that's about as good as I can get to any kind of like prayer

or anything okay let's see what else we got that wasn't even like a dude the

hole is too dark to see down it is too dangerous to climb down okay so I need

something like a rose maybe I don't know is there anybody in here I know nobody

now I can go to the study and die because that's how I roll

and save it first and then I'm going to go to the study and I'm gonna study

about my own death onward we go to the study in room did you do study key okay

there so I'm gonna go and finish the episode up here that was pretty

consistent compared to the puzzles I've been getting stuck on recently like in

past videos that was actually a lot easier than I thought it was gonna be so
