Waching daily Jul 16 2017

Hey you lot, hope you've all had a great week.

Today's video is a little something I recorded a little while ago, still part of my Mexico

travel journal which you might be pleased to hear I am close to finishing so I can't

wait to share that and the whole of the journey with you all.

But I recorded this, honestly because my camera was already set up from recording something

else, I didn't really plan on using it, but when I posted a picture of this piece

on instagram a few people asked if I had a video on painting in this sort of minimal,

basic style.

And since I've not been about much this week, which I'll talk about in a second,

I didn't have a lot of time to record something that I thought would be good enough quality

to put up here on my channel.

Which made this the perfect little clip to go to.

So I decided to keep it in real-time just so you can see..

I think the thing with time lapses is that they make everything look easy and natural

and, its easy to make that assumption especially when you see a painting as loose as this one.

So I wanted to keep this at normal speed just so you can see that my mark making is still

quite careful and considered, despite it looking like I just kind of whipped this together

in a few seconds.

Now I'm really happy with how this turned out, obviously I've been working on improving

this simplified style, mainly in landscapes, and I was surprised with how I managed to

achieve just the look I've been struggling to get, and how it just kind of happened by

accident.

I can't say that I've got it all figured out yet, I do have to admit this kind of happened

by chance, so I can't say to you, 'this is how you do it…'

What I do think helped me with this one was keeping my colours very restricted.

So I went in with this approach of just blocking in all the things that were a certain colour

first, so I started with the skin, I was looking at a picture for this by the way, a picture

I took while I was on holiday, and I just focused on the areas that were bare skin,

and looked at them just as flat shapes that I could lay down on a page and kind of connect

like floating puzzle pieces.

I don't know if that makes a lot of sense.

It's almost like, if you've ever done a paint by numbers, and if you don't know

what I mean, please google it and it might make more sense.

I turned the photo I was using for reference into a paint-by-numbers in my head and I put

down each area onto my paper one at a time.

I did the same thing when I laid in a layer of shading on the skin and then again for

the clothes and the hair.

And that approach made things so much easier, carving things out one area at a time, and

I think that's what got me the results I wanted.

One thing I do struggle with is remembering that that's the approach I'm taking, and

I think that comes up more when I'm doing more complicated landscapes, I get caught

up in a certain area, forget that I'm doing one colour at a time…

So I hope that's made a bit of sense anyway.

Maybe it makes more sense just to watch it and see what I'm doing.

I hope you like this real-time version of things, I don't do this here often, more

on Patreon, but doing it over there has taught me how much people appreciate it and what

they can get out of it so I hope it's made a little difference.

Other than that, how are you guys?

Long time no chat!

As I said at the beginning, I've not been around much.

I was at a music festival over the weekend.

And omg, first of all, I had the most amazing time, so lovely to get away and just be out

in the sun, listening to great music and spending some good quality time with friends, I did

a little bit of filming so hopefully I'll be able to show you some when I get the chance

to edit it.

But the best part has got to be that I actually ended up meeting one of you guys!

It was just incredible, its the first time I've met one of you in person and I feel

so bad cos I didn't even get your name, I hope you're watching, I was just so like

taken aback and overwhelmed with the moment and how lovely you were.

Yeah it was just out of this world, the most amazing experience and I can't really get

over it.

So I had a fab time, got home on Tuesday and I've been trying to finally settle back

into normal life.

I'm gonna get back to a normal work schedule, finish this travel journal and start on some

really cool fun new projects for my art and for this channel so I'm really looking forward

to it.

I think it might be August before I'm fully caught up and back into a proper rhythm of

things but in the mean time I'm still aiming to at least keep up with a video going out

a week.

It may just be more casual sketchbook stuff like this, which I know most of you don't

mind.

But yeah, I've said all the things I needed to say, I hope you've enjoyed this video

and have had a lovely week.

I'll see you all in the next one!

Bye!

Meaning Of Life - Inspirational Video - Duration: 1:49.

Life is so enormous that it has no meaning

If there was a meaning the moment you found the meaning it would be over

But you can't finish off life like that you

You write a million books about it still it is ever-expanding

So there is no meaning to life

meaning

very rudimentary minds in the world are always trying to explain life off

As this or that you can't explain it off

Because it contains you it is you

Everything that you discover is just a small aspect of it

Whatever meanings, you give it to whatever definitions. You give it to are just your notions about it

Life is Far Beyond meaning

life is Beyond meaning

And that's why it's so beautiful

Ioannina - Let's talk (talk) - Duration: 9:03.

Gia sas apo Ioannina!

We are here in Ioannina, it is in northern Greece and a lovely and nice city.

I have some AEGEE people here and i was just meeting with them.

I am going to ask them about the actual situation in Greece and what is their opinion about

the greek situation and about the europe situation.

My first question: How do you feel in Greece right now with the crisis?

It's about 8 years since it started.

What is the main problem?

[Spyros:] It's not only a financial crisis.

Its also a crisis of values.

A crisis in all matters of cultural sections.

Also in political field.

Everywhere!

Probably depression.

[...]Not so good but we are fighting.

[...]

[Frosso] I feel that it is not stable.

[...]

So when i am talking to my friends in Greece i see the statistics also: there is a highly

unemployment rate in the youth.

How do you feel that and your friends and your family?

[Olina] I think it's hard that you don't have the choice to work in Greece but I hope the

things will get better.

So we need to be hopeful and there is also the chance to go to europe but maybe we need

it to be our choice and not to be forced.

I don't feel that i am forced but some people do.

There are scared maybe.

[Friedrich] One of the main things which is always told in the news and in the discussion

is the credits, debts which Greece has and i think this is one of the necessaries discussion

we to make in the next years, actually in the next months.

So there is the business credits - but there are nearly 500 million Euros which are given

from the EU reserved for Greece.

For fighting against the youth unemployment.

Did you know that or do you know that?

[Olina] I think that it's not happen the right way because if it did happen the right way

there would be some outcome, positive outcome.

But there is no outcome.

SoI think it's the wrong way.

I don't know anything about economics.

I don't study economics.

I don't know about politics.

[Friedrich] You heard about this youth guarantee?

This is what I want to know first.

[Frosso] I didn't know how much money it was but i know there was Money from europe.

I think that people in Greece, especially students, don't think that money is coming

from europe to help.

[Friedrich] So, you know that your government just have to spend the money ? It is reserved?

[Frosso] We are not sure if they ask.

[Olina] I don't agree on that because we have to pay so many taxes that our parents have

to pay the taxes.

So how does this money come to us?

I don't understand.

[Friedrich] So maybe I explain this - because i read a lot and I asked Mr. Juncker at a

discussion about this topic.

He made a answer around the corner.

[Olina] As always.

[Friedrich] At least there are 8 Billion Euros for fighting against the youth unemployment.

From that amount the most money is for Spain, Italy and especially Greece.

Greece is about 500 Million Euros and it's reserved.

So it is i kind of found.

It's not a credit or something.

The greek government just has to get it from the found and do some activities or programs

for example.

So this is not something like taxes or something, it's like a programm.

Like for example Erasmus but it's just for the greek people.

[Olina] Frosso has been in a program like that.

[Frosso] I was in a program like that.

I did this program last year in summer.

Yes, i did it, but, for example, i want to do a PGD, I have to go abroad because in Greece

you don't have that big pay.

Like four or five years not being paid that 's not enough.

In the rest of europe the people are paid.

PGD students.

[Friedrich] Yes but this is something different.

The problem with the PGD, I talked to a guy from Spain yesterday, the have same.

In Germany there is a good payment for PGD programs, in Spain it is 900 Euros for a PGD.

[Frosso] For Greece, Spain it's a little the same.

[Friedrich] But it's actually not a program of the european youth guarantee.

Because PGD is something only for students.

The youth guarantee is also something like for people who go to university.

For example they can't pay it or don't have the marks or something.

It's like, for example: There is somebody and his father has a company for example - or

he has an own idea for a StartUp for example and he needs something support or he needs

money.

It's mixed.

It's like to support.

[Frosso] Europe direct!

[Friedrich] Europe Direct is an informational Office.

[Vasia] I think one of the main problems where are not in the money or so, but we are looking

for ?. I mean that there is no one or any service.

So there is no available to ask.

Actually to be a greek student in the university means

trying to find your way in the only university and discover things and you have to open the

problems at the university its own calls.

We don't have any program as AEGEE and that's the problem.

[...]

[Friedrich] So what is necessary to happen that, because the money is reserved, and it

is from the EU.

This is what you was thinking about.

There is the money and you don't have the information as young people.

And there is nobody giving the information who is making programs.

I have read about one programm.

It is called a Voucher-Program or something.

You are the greek people...

[Olina] Actualy what i have heard about Voucher-Program, i'm not sure, is that we did not agree but

some young people thought it's like "response", because so much money is cut of.

So this is kind of "Ah, i am giving you something little - so you can live.

I am fouling you.

I'am helping you while i am not.

This is what i have heard but i don't know what it is for real.

[Friedrich] So you have not enough information.

What's the possibility to change that`?

How could your government change that or the young people?

What do the young people against that, when i explain that to you?

[Olina] I think it's two things: The government: We have to fight corruption.

There are some corrupted people in government in greek politics, i think maybe many!

Anyway - this is how to be done.

But we have to fight for it - i don't know how.

And second: Young people need to be more motivated and to try to new things in a longer level,

for example, in Ioannina we have some organisations or volunteers, for example AGEE or ISN, but

not many people know about that.

So they are not mobilized.

We don't have enough information.

[Friedrich] Let's hope that this video goes a little bit viral.

That the people see there is nothing just bad in Greece.

That here are young and motivated people.

Give them solidarity!

Give them a future!

Good by from Ioannina!
