Samsung Galaxy S8 vs OnePlus 3T Camera Comparison - Duration: 3:54.

"Music"

Hey guys its Sagar from Tecworkz.

In my camera review of the Galaxy S8, I called it the best camera on any smartphone in the

market right now.

In this video, we will try to find out, where does the camera of the OnePlus 3T stand, in

comparison.

I know the OnePlus 5 has already hit the market with its fancy dual camera setup.

We have it in the studio, and I am working on its camera review and comparison with the

S8, as you guys are watching this video.

But until that video comes out, let us see how does the camera of the OnePlus 3T hold

up against that of the S8.

Now before we get started, make sure you hit the subscribe button, so you don't miss out

on any of the amazing videos coming up on this channel.

On the S8, You get a 12 Megapixel rear camera with f/1.7 aperture, Optical Image Stabilisation

and single LED flash.

Whereas, The OnePlus 3T has a 16megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, Optical image

stabilisation and single LED flash.

At the front, you have a 8 megapixel camera with f/1.7 aperture on the S8, and 16 megapixel

camera with f/2.0 aperture on the OnePlus 3T.

The camera module on the S8 is almost flushed in with the back of the phone, but the one

on the 3T sticks out quite a lot.

Interface of the camera app is pretty simple and intuitive on both these devices.

Both the phones offer to capture RAW images and have manual controls, so you can have

better control over the images that you take.

Now lets get to the images and videos that I took with these smartphones.

All the images have been shot in auto mode with auto HDR turned on.

Right from the first image, you can see that the S8 takes detailed, sharper images with

better contrast.

Overall images from the 3T are also pleasant to look at, but the better processing on the

S8 makes its images stand out.

Colours on from the S8 are more saturated of the two, and depending on your preference,

you might like it or you might not.

S8 has captured more light in this image thanks to its wide aperture, and as we zoom in, you

can see lot more noise in the image from the OnePlus 3T.

Here is a quick test between focusing speed of these devices.

OnePlus does a good job while switching its focus from near to distant objects, but the

S8 is even better.

Focusing is faster and a lot smoother to look at, which is important if you plan on taking

lot of videos with your smartphone.

Now here are some close up shots.

Ones from the S8 are brighter and slightly more detailed, but the ones from the OnePlus

3T are equally good to look at.

3T starts to struggle a bit in lower lighting situations, where it captures more noise than

the S8.

As we start shooting in lower lighting situations, S8 starts to pull way ahead.

3T sometimes even struggle to latch on focus in these situations.

This image from the S8 looks so much better and richer, zooming in, we can even see the

text being much sharper in its images, compared to the one shot on the OnePlus 3T.

The 16 megapixel front facing camera of the 3T takes more detailed images, when compared

to the 8 megapixel camera of the S8.

Now coming to the video performance.

Both can shoot videos in upto 4k resolution at 30fps, and have optical image stabilisation,

but the video from the S8 is much better.

As you can see, the video from the 3T is not very stable.

It's not at all bad, but I expect better results from cameras with Optical image stabilisation

built in.

The 3T has another problem of continuously hunting for focus, which is really annoying

at times.

The camera of the OnePlus 3T seems to lack far behind in this comparison, But it can

certainly take good pictures in ample lighting conditions.

And on its own, the OnePlus 3T has a great camera at its price range.

If you are looking to make a decision between these smartphones, based on their camera performance,

you should definitely go with the Samsung Galaxy S8, if you have the budget for it.

If you don't have that kind money to spend on a smartphone, but still want a great phone

with a good camera, go for the OnePlus 3T, if it is still selling in your country.

OnePlus 5 has already hit the market, with improved dual camera setup, and I hope it

stands a better chance against the S8.

That is it for this video guys.

What are your thoughts on the camera of both these devices, let me know in the comments

section.

Please hit the like button if you enjoyed this video, and subscribe to the channel for

more quality tech videos like this.

You can also check out some of the other videos on this channel.

This has been Sagar and I'll catch you guys in the next video.

Take care.

Perspectives from the Sky Gettin' Ready and Astrology Forecast July 16 22 - Duration: 8:55.

Perspectives from the Sky Gettin Ready and Astrology Forecast July 16-22

By Leo Knighton Tallarico

On Sunday July 16 we enter- for a week- the 4th quarter and last quarter of the lunar

cycle.

This lunar cycle began at the New Moon in Cancer on June 23.

And it ends next Sunday July 23 at the Leo New Moon.

This passing lunar cycle has been a time of finding nurturance, support, feelings of home,

family, and inner wholeness.

At the Leo New Moon on the 23rd of July, there will be a shift.

That Leo New Moon brings in the first winds of Eclipse Season, and will shift our energies

into more fiery creative self expression, more action, more hope, and greater motivation

to succeed.

Yet the 4th quarter time this week, which precedes that Leo New Moon, , the first of

two Leo New Moons in a row, will be more energized and active than most 4th quarter time periods.

That is because this 4th quarter begins with the Moon in active willful Aries; then continues

with the often chaotic Mars square Uranus this Monday the 17th; Sun squaring Uranus

on the 20th while Mars goes into Leo; and the Sun moving into Leo a couple days before

the New Moon in Leo.

4th quarter lunar cycles are a time of coming down, finishing up, gathering, cleaning

up, and getting ready for the new beginnings of a New Moon.

And of course that theme continues for this 4th quarter lunar cycle, but there will also

be more energy for that finishing up purpose this week.

And of course since this is a getting ready for Eclipse Season, there also should be more

stirring up, and the beginnings of seeing what Eclipse Season might be like for each

of us.

I know some people get scared about these Eclipse Seasons, but having consciously experienced

many of them through the years, I can assure you that usually they are not as bad as many

fear.

Yes for sure most of us will be taken out of our usual balance, will be shifting in

consciousness and energetically, will release and let go some things, and will be more ready

for handling change.

But most will not lose their jobs, relationships, or homes during an Eclipse Season.

And they will not be destroyed and die.

And the world will not come to an end.

Yet for sure this Eclipse Season will at least be a turning point time in our individual

lives, and of course in our global experience too.

There will likely be an experience of getting over the hump and knowing there is no path

to going back to how it used to be.

Our New Chapter in life is becoming our new normal and we need to own that.

In our global experience, the Trump factor has been changing our world appreciably, and

on the surface it looks pretty bad.

Remember in the bigger picture he is the vehicle for this transformation that our human family

needs right now in order to wake up and make the needed changes.

America is in the process of becoming an equal member of nations, which aligns with the Age

of Aquarius.

I am sure most of you wish it would be happening in a way that didnt make the country an

embarrassment in the world, and didnt put us in such a dangerous position; yet this

is how it needs to be right now.

Our country and world have been coasting without awareness through a dysfunctional and toxic

human condition for a long time now.

The values of this country have been eroding for many years, but so slowly that many have

not been paying attention.

Now more and more people are waking up and seeing, feeling and knowing that our human

family is in real trouble.

Deep transformation and healing are urgently needed.

And this Eclipse Season, whatever events it brings to us, will show us how much we need

to make big important changes.

Our economy is not equitable and all too often the greedy are the ones most rewarded in this

system.

Bernie Sanders represented a waking up of the people in the USA to lack of balance and

fairness in the economy.

Will the stock market crash happen during or not long after this coming Eclipse Season?

Better chance than usual it will.

But if not now, it will happen relatively soon, before summer of 2018 in my estimation.

And Eclipse Seasons, as they represent often drastic change, give us a better chance of

something like that happening.

And the Military, the other half of the Economic/Military complex that largely rules this world, will

show change this Eclipse Season, especially so as the USA Mars is triggered by transiting

Saturn; Trump and Netanyahus Mars are triggered by the Total Solar Eclipse in Leo,

and Israels Mars is also triggered by the Total Solar Eclipse on August 21.

Does this mean there is serious conflict brewing?

Probably yes.

It does not, however, necessarily mean actual war will erupt soon.

But it has a greater likelihood being triggered during or soon after the Total Solar Eclipse

in Leo than usual.

The Military/Economic complex that President Eisenhower warned us about is more powerful

than ever, and it must be transformed somehow in order for us to evolve into what is needed

for the coming Age of Aquarius.

We can only pray it happens as gracefully as possible.

Whether gracefully or not, Trump sure shows us more likelihood of its dismantling.

He is like Caligula or Nero as the Roman Empire began to dissolve.

But, nevertheless, each of us needs to put our concentration on transforming our own

consciousness and life.

As you let go of the programming from society and family of your mind and heart, you transform

and evolve.

As you awaken to truth, you evolve and transform.

As you trust that you live in a meaningful and sometimes magical Universe you transform

and evolve.

As you open to your authentic Self, and to living a more purposeful life, you transform

and evolve.

As you realize we are all brothers and sisters of the same human family, you transform and

evolve.

As you extricate yourself from believing that being rich and famous is the holy grail, you

transform and evolve.

As you let go the consciousness of superior/inferior, predator/prey and victim/perpetrator for our

human condition you transform and evolve.

As you know love is the true healer, you transform and evolve.

As you know we all live in a meaningful Universe, you evolve and transform.

As you realize all is connected, all seeming opposites are meant to be joined in wholeness

like the yin/yang symbol, you transform and evolve.

As you experience that Soul is real and guides our life journey, you transform and evolve.

And now the transformation is accelerated, as during Eclipse Seasons the wheels of the

Universe turn with more music, light, love, and magic than usual.

It is the blocks to that light that hold everything back and cause breakdowns and difficulties.

When we trust and surrender, we better allow our blocks to be cleared, so that the music,

light, love and magic can come pouring through.

And next Sunday the 23rd begins the Eclipse Season with the New Moon in Leo.

Talk with

you then,

Top 5 Things to Do in the Destiny 2 Beta - Duration: 2:44.

Early access to the Destiny 2 beta starts today, at least on PlayStation 4, so if you've

got a code or you pre-ordered, you should be ready to play when the gates open up at

10am PT, 1pm ET, and 5pm GMT.

If you haven't got a code, and didn't bother pre-ordering, you'll have to wait

for the open beta, which kicks off on Friday 21st.

So once you have access, what should you do?

Well, the Destiny 2 beta boasts quite a lot of content, and it's important that you

see all of it.

To help guide you, we've put together this video.

I'm Mack, for PlayStation LifeStyle, here with the top 5 things to do in the Destiny

2 beta.

Remember the epic Destiny 2 gameplay reveal that we saw back in May?

Well, you'll be able to experience that opening story mission for yourself in the

beta!

Start in the Tower, the social space that your Guardian has been calling home for years

now, and fight to defend it from the Cabal "Red Legion."

Team up with the Vanguards as they do all they can to survive and protect Earth's

last safe city.

The new three-player cooperative strike, called "The Inverted Spire," is also playable

in the beta.

Grab two friends, or matchmake with other players, and go up against the Cabal and Vex

on Nessus.

Beat the boss to complete the strike and get some of that sweet new loot!

Even if you're primarily a Destiny PvE player, Destiny 2's PvP portion is definitely worth

checking out.

Some big changes have been made, including a reduction from a 6v6 player count, to less

chaotic 4v4 matchups.

There will be two modes to play and two maps to play on in the beta.

The Control game type makes a return, along with a new attack and defend Countdown mode.

As for maps, players will be able to check out Vostok and Endless Vale.

The Farm is a new Destiny 2 social space that you'll be able to visit in the beta.

The reason it's so high on our list today, is because it will only be available for a

short period of time.

On Sunday July 23rd at 10am PT, 1pm ET, and 5pm GMT, The Farm will be accessible for one

hour, and one hour only!

So be online and be ready!

It's going to be one hell of a stress test, so try and keep your patience!

Though you may well have your favorite from the original game, we urge you to invest time

giving all three classes a go during the beta.

With new abilities and subclasses, each class should feel different.

Then there's the new weapon categories: Kinetic, Energy, and Power.

The big addition here is the Power weapons, which are extremely lethal and fantastic fun

to use.

Those are the top 5 things to do in the Destiny 2 beta.

What are you most looking forward to trying out?

Let us know in the comments down below.

If you enjoyed this video, hit the Like button, and be sure to subscribe if you haven't

Ronan Meets Thanos | Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) | Movie Clip - Duration: 2:07.

You have been betrayed, Ronan.

We know only that she has been captured.

Gamora may yet recover the Orb.

No.

Our sources within the Kyln say Gamora has her own plans for the Orb.

Your partnership with Thanos is at risk.

Thanos requires your presence.

Now!

With all due respect, Thanos, your daughter made this mess.

And yet you summon me...

I would lower my voice, Accuser.

First, she lost a battle with some primitive.

Thanos put Gamora under your charge.

Then she was apprehended by the Nova Corps...

You are the one here with nothing to show for it.

Your sources say that she meant to betray us the whole time!

Lower your tone!

I may be your...

I only ask that you take this matter seriously.

The only matter I do not take seriously, boy...

Is you.

Your politics bore me!

Your demeanor is that of a pouty child.

And, apparently, you alienated my favorite daughter, Gamora.

I shall honor our agreement, Kree, if you bring me the Orb.

But return to me again empty-handed...

And I will bathe the starways in your blood.

Thanks, dad.

Sounds fair.

This is one fight you won't win.

Let's head to the Kyln.

How to Sketch a Woman With Coffee - Narrated - Duration: 3:41.

Hello my friends and welcome to another Tuesday of tutorial!

I am Leonardo Pereznieto and today we will sketch a girl drinking coffee.

We begin by making a circle for the head.

Then a line to indicate were the face will be.

In this case it is going to be tilted.

I draw a light cross in the middle of the head as a reference.

It is so light it is almost imaginary [laughter]

but it tells me the height were the eyebrow goes.

And just below it, there is a slight recess in the profile

and then the nose, sticks out.

Underneath we have the lips and the chin, and the jaw arrives

to the right of the vertical line of the cross.

Very good!

Let´s draw the neck, skinny and elegant and then the shoulder and the arm

up to the elbow.

The back…

… and the clothing that it´s covering her.

More or less like this and also the part of clothe behind her.

The arm should be a little longer.

Now let´s draw the eye, which is like a triangle, just below the eyebrow.

And we go over and detail the nose a little bit better.

The forehead here, and we begin drawing the hair.

Very good!

She is going to be drinking a delicious morning cup of coffee.

So we draw it.

And the hand that is holding the cup will be hardly seen, here.

And the arm in a vertical position.

Let´s draw her hair, on the back like so.

I love doing figure drawings and sketches, it has been some time

now since the last one.

So I´m enjoying this very much!

And now, let´s begin shading.

And I do most of it by making parallel lines, like if I was drawing with

a pen.

Here I should have left a light so let´s erase it, on the trapezius muscle.

For this sketch, I´m using an indigo blue pencil, which is a Prismacolor

Col-Erase.

I like this type of pencil for sketching because it can be erased.

The exact tools I´m using are, as always, in the description

of the video.

I darken some of the shading, like the core shadow on the arm,

and I correct the shape of the eyebrow as it was rising a little bit too high

on the back.

Let´s shade the lips, and define the line a little bit better.

I want to let you know that I reallly appreciate your comments and your support,

and please do let me know what other tutorials would you like me to do

for you.

We do a little bit more detail on the hair but not too much.

I want this to be sketchy.

We are almost there!

We do the last details, the last touches and it´s ready!

If you enjoyed it, please give it a LIKE! share it to your friends and subscribe to

Fine Art-Tips.

And I will see you, on Tuesday ;)

(Airsoft) Unboxing the Double Barrel 1911 WE (floral pattern) - Duration: 13:26.

Thanks to them !

Hello YouTube and welcome to this new unboxing video !

Today I'm showing you a stupid gun

At least that's what a lot of people think about it

This is the Double Barrel 1911 from WE

It comes from Airsoft Entrepot, the shop where I work

As you can see here there is 3 colors : black, silver, and "floral pattern"

Price goes from 200 to 250 euros, depending of the model you want

It's quite expensive for a GBB, but sine this gun is mostly 2 GBB attached to each other, it's understandable

Let's open the box

Here is the gun, the "floral pattern" model which comes engraved

Here is the magazine, which like the gun is mostly made of 2 magazines attached to each other

The gun is on a plastic shell, and under it you have the booklet and an alen key

The booklet is a standard 1911 booklet

You also get a very simple exploded parts drawing of the gun

Here is the 1911 Double Barrel floral pattern from WE

It seems like a very strange idea, and yet it does exist in the firearm industry

A company called Arsenal Firearms does make a double 1911 (which doesn't look exactly like that though)

Cybergun even proposes an exact replica of the double 1911 from Arsenal Firearms

The WE model isn't licensed, it's just basically made of 2 standard 1911 WE

The idea of course is that almost everything comes in double

Double magazines with 2 loads of bbs, 2 hammers, 2 barrels, 2 hop up unit, etc

Each time you pull the trigger you shoot 2 bbs, each time the slide cycles you chamber 2 bbs, etc

It's really weird, yet it does exist

A lot of people have been really "angry" about those guns, calling them stupid and a total waste of time and money

Personally I didn't really care, even if I wasn't really enthusiasted by the idea either

But to be honest, the first time I had this in hands, I found it difficult to not find it really amusing

Frankly, I think that anyone who shoot a magazine with this gun will find it fun to use

Here is what it looks like from a closer point of view

2 triggers, 2 barrels, 2 hammers, 2 safety pedals, 1 mag release button, which unlocks both magazines

You have 2 triggers, but connected to each other, which means that when you pull one trigger, you actually pull both triggers

The 2 hammers are connected to each other as well

Yet, the safety pedals are independant, which is a bit annoying since you'll need to press both of them to shoot the gun, which can be difficult

You can still put a rubber band or something I guess, but, well...

Also, since it's a "double gun", you also have twice as much springs, therefore the trigger is a bit harder to press than usual

Same thing for the slide ; 2 recoils springs, you need twice as much strength to pull the slide

A little detail : I can see that the front sight on the model I have is very loose

Nothing some glue could correct I guess, but that's a bit sad

I have put a bit of gas in the magazine, let's see how it feels

This was the front sight

A lot of fun to me !

Little detail : it's not possible to "power stroke" the gun

When the magazines are empty, the slide locks to the rear

And if I remove the magazine and pull the slide...

... Ok now it works, that's weird, I'll try again

Huh, so maybe you can actually power stroke the gun after all

Ok well, it's not impossible to power stroke the gun, but obviously it doesn't work all the time either

Let's see how the trigger feels like

Then again you only need to touch one trigger to shoot

Which is a good thing, with my small hands it would have been really hard to press both triggers

You really do need to pull strongly, it feels really weird compared to other GBB

Reset...

Also note the safety, which is not ambidextrous, it's only on the left side

The "floral pattern" finish, which is... Interesting, I guess, you'll have to like this kind of look

Considering the "absurd" concept of this gun, I think tne engraving makes sense on this gun

Last year I was at the "Colombiana" Airsoft game from Airsoft Contact in France, a role play event in which I played a drug seller from a drug cartel

That's the kind of gun I could have used I guess

This is the magazine, which is made of 2 magazines obviously, note there is only 1 injection valve

The two magazines communicate only from this thin portion on the bottom

You have 2 percussion valves, 2 gaz routes and 2 loads of bbs

On WE 1911 magazine, you can lock this part to the bottom so you can easily load bbs inside

But it's difficult to do for the 2nd magazine since it's hard to access the loading part here

I'll try to use some tool

Here we go

Now I can load with bbs

I have put bbs, I let some room so I don't damage the nozzles and I unlock the part

A bit hard to do (NB : obviously you can use a bbs loader with GBB mag adapter though) ; it would have been better to make it symetrical

The idea is that the whole mechanism is symetrical and will do the same thing on both sides

To disassembly it, it's like a normal 1911 : pull out the magazine, pull the slide to the right position and pull out the slide stop lever

Note this red part which connect the recoil spring guides, in order to make the cycle smoother I guess

Note the 2 wheels for hop up adjustment

Both hop up are independant so you can, maybe, put different adjustments if you want to

Note that the slide stop only care about the left magazine, which means that the slide will lock when the left magazine is empty

Even if you have still bbs in the right magazine, the slide will lock to the rear nonetheless

Which also means, if you want, that you can put bbs only in the left magazine so you'll shoot only 1 bbs when you use the gun

It might be useful if for some reason, you're not allowed to use a gun which shoot several bbs at once

Note they made an effort regarding the sights ; you have only 1 sight on the middle (and not 1 sight on each slide)

That's pretty much it, I said everything I had to say about this gun

It's not really a big surprise in the end, it's exactly what it looks like : 2 1911 attached to each other

It cost between 200 and 250 euros depending of the model you want

If you want it just for the lulz it's probably a bit expensive, but if you're willing to pay this price, why not

Frankly I'm begining to wonder if I'm not going to buy one for myself

You put that in the hands of someone and you make him shoot a magazine, and he'll smile

It's so weird and unorthodox that it makes it really fun, at least to me

Also, the kick in particular is really nice, and shooting 2 bbs every time you pull the trigger is also quite cool

There will be two teams for this kind of guns : those who'll find it fun and those who'll really hate it

Thanks for watching ! See you next time for the shooting video !

Miraculous Cases of People Who Lived Without a Brain - Duration: 16:45.

Miraculous Cases of People Who Lived Without a Brain

by Brent Swancer

One of the most mysteries places in our strange universe is our own bodies.

Here within every one of us are vast realms of perplexing riddles which medical science

have yet to fully understand.

Just when we think we have the human body figured out, some new oddity will pop up out

of this landscape of puzzles to baffle and confound.

One very bizarre phenomenon that seems to defy everything we think we know about our

bodies is that of various people who have come into this world without any significant

brain, yet who have not only managed to survive, but to thrive, living for years while showing

consciousness, awareness, and in some cases even functioning as a normal member of society.

Although the brain is one of the most mysterious domains of our bodies there is, these accounts

of people living without a brain are mind-boggling, and show us just how little we really know

about the mysteries of the human body.

One of the more well-known and indeed deeply bizarre cases of a person surviving without

a brain is the story of little Aaron Murray, of Lanarkshire, Scotland, who was born in

2013 with a severe case of a condition known as Hydranencephaly, in which the brain is

unformed or only partially developed.

Although very rare, usually babies with this condition die before birth, or at best a few

minutes or hours after coming into the world, and this was the prognosis given for Aaron

as well, with doctors saying he had only moments to live and that his condition was imminently

fatal and as they said, incompatible with life. In Aarons case, he was born with

merely a brain stem, with the rest of the brain completely missing.

An attendant doctor would say of Aarons bizarre brain scan thus:

A normal brain scan should show the brain filling all the head cavity up to the top.

The brain itself would show as a white area, with black pockets of fluid running around

the outside of the brain and through the brain, which allows the transmission of vitamins

and to clean itself of toxins.

On Aarons scan the brain stem comes up and stops underneath the cavity which is filled

with fluid.

Yet the minutes passed, then hours, then weeks, and he was still alive, much to the surprise

of baffled doctors everywhere, breathing on his own and seemingly in fairly good health

considering the complete absence of a brain.

After 8 weeks of observation and surgeries to reduce fluid build up, Aaron was allowed

to return home with his family, and at this point it was still strongly believed that

he would soon die.

Aaron would defy this prognosis, not only surviving, but showing an awareness of his

surroundings and the people he was with, showing other cognitive abilities such as giggling,

smiling, playing with his older brother Jack, watching his favorite shows on TV, and in

the most impressive case saying the word Mummy when he was two years old, far beyond his

expected life span.

His mother, Emma Murray, would say of this:

I was told he might live for three minutes, three hours or three days.

The doctors told me if it had been any of his other organs which had failed to grow,

they would have been able to do something but they couldnt grow him another brain.

But right from the very beginning, Aaron proved he is a real fighter.

The other day I was saying Mummy to him.

I was clapping my hands and he was giggling away.

He looked at me, and said Mummy back.

He had literally copied what I was saying.

I just stared at him in shock, and then I just burst into tears.

It was such an emotional moment.

I couldnt believe it.

Id been told my son would only live for a few minutes, but now here he was saying

Mummy something I never thought I would ever hear.

I never thought I would ever hear him say anything at all I burst into tears when

he said mummy. It was the most amazing thing Ive ever heard in my whole life.

He has since reportedly said other words, such as Hello, showing a puzzling cognitive

sophistication for a child who should be a complete vegetable and who should not even

be alive at all.

With only a brain stem, Aaron should only be capable of the basest survival mechanisms,

such as breathing and keeping the internal organs working properly, yet he apparently

shows a good amount of awareness of what is going on around him.

With his profound lack of brain, he wouldnt be expected to giggle when someone is near,

play with others, open presents, or watch TV, and he especially should not be able to

talk.

Even after all of these years of beating the odds and surviving minus a brain he should

have no more mental function than a newborn, and this is an aspect of his case that continues

to confound the medical community.

One doctor, a Jill Yaz, from the Association for Spina Bifidia and Hydrocephalus, has said

of Aaron Murrays miraculous condition:

The brain stem controls the basic functions that we need to survive.

It keeps the heart going, controls breathing and keeps organs like the intestines working.

It also controls basic things like swallowing.

So this is how Aaron has managed to survive so far.

As long as the brain stem is there performing these functions, then he is able to survive.

But what is remarkable about this case is that the brain stem doesnt control our

thinking or consciousness, so the fact that he can do things like giggle and smile and

say a basic word like Mummy is fascinating.

There is no known explanation for it.

Ive never seen anything like this brain scan in 20 years.

It is remarkable that he has managed to survive and say Mummy for the first time it

shows how little we really understand about how the human body works.

And the body can surprise us and do remarkable things.

Although he cannot stand or walk on his own, Aaron Murray has proven to be a modern medical

miracle.

Another rather amazing case is that of Jaxon Buell, of Tavares, Florida, who was similarly

born with no brain past the brain stem, in this case suffering from a defect called anencephaly,

which is the absence of major portions of the brain and skull.

In Jaxons case, he has only a brain stem and is missing a cerebellum and much of his

skull.

The condition was spotted early in the pregnancy, but the Buells decided to go through with

it even though doctors were adamant that the baby would not come to full term.

When Jaxon defiantly came into the world on Aug. 17, 2014, missing a brain and most of

his skull, doctors expected Jaxon to die almost immediately, yet he did not.

Not only did Jaxon survive, but he has gone on to live for years, and similarly to Aaron

Murrays case he has shown a distinct awareness of his surroundings, even speaking words such

as mama and daddy, and most recently I love you to his mother.

Jaxons father, Brandon Bruell, has said of this miraculous journey:

Every doctor weve talked to is fascinated that Jaxon is here today, and they can no

longer predict a prognosis, although we know the reality behind this better than anyone

else, what Jaxon is up against, and that his life is already miraculous at this point.

Hes back to smiling at us, always so happy in the morning after he wakes up and takes

turns looking at both Mommys and Daddys face, seemingly as if he is so excited to

start another day.

Although Jaxon has been occasionally plagued by some health problems, he has continued

to defy the odds and provide inspiration and courage for thousands as he has thrived.

How is it that this boy born without a brain could last so long and adjust so well?

It has remained a mystery, but it is hoped that his incredible survival will open the

door to better understanding Jaxons condition and how the human body works.

It is an amazing tale indeed, and I wish the best to Jaxon and his family.

Other equally incredible and baffling cases are out there as well, such as the case of

Kaliysha Barrett, who was born with only a partially operational brain stem and no cerebral

cortex, but has managed to live to be 6-years-old, as well as another girl named Alex Simpson,

of Omaha, Nebraska, who has lived to over 10-years old without a brain while showing

remarkable awareness and recognition of her surroundings, as well as appropriate responses

to various stimuli.

Joining these ranks is a boy named Trevor Judge Waltrip, of Shreveport, Louisiana, who

was born in 2001 without a brain and managed to live to 12 years old before finally dying

peacefully in his sleep.

Although blind and unable to speak, Trevor allegedly was quite alert and showed emotional

responses and bonding with family members, recognizing those he loved and interacting

with them.

The list goes on, with numerous other similarly miraculous stories.

It is not even just babies and children who live with this affliction, and although it

may seem like people without brains may be doomed to die at a very early age, there are

surprisingly cases of those who have lived into adulthood without a fully developed brain.

One of the most widely known and remarkable of these cases first appeared in an article

in a 2007 Lancet study, which described a 44-year-old French civil servant who went

to the hospital complaining of weakness in his leg and surprised everyone, including

himself, when it was found that he had only a tiny amount of brain material in his skull,

with the rest being filled with fluid.

The man had nevertheless lived a normal life, had a regular job, a wife, and kids, and although

he had the rather low IQ of 75 was not considered to be mentally handicapped.

The man had not been aware that there was anything wrong with him, even though it was

surmised that with the amount of brain matter he was missing he should not have even been

conscious, let alone a functioning member of society, and his case has gone on to astound

and baffle the medical world.

One cognitive psychologist from the Universit Libre de Bruxelles in Belgium named Axel Cleeremans

believes that this man defies traditional understanding of the brain, that the man should

not be conscious at all, and has said of the case:

Any theory of consciousness has to be able to explain why a person like that, whos

missing 90 percent of his neurons, still exhibits normal behavior.

This would not be the only adult to go through life normally without realizing that they

did not have a functioning brain.

In 2014 in China, one 24-year-old woman checked into a hospital in Shandong Province after

experiencing bouts of dizziness and nausea.

Upon questioning, doctors found that the woman had always had trouble walking, and that she

had only started speaking when she was 6 years of age, which prompted them to take a brain

scan of the woman.

What they would find would stun them.

In the place where her cerebellum should be was merely an empty space full of fluid.

This part pf the brain, which translates as little brain, holds around 50 percent

of the brains neurons and is largely responsible for motor control, balance, motor learning,

and voluntary movements, as well as assorted cognitive functions.

It is an essential part of the brain, and the fact that this woman was functioning fairly

normally without it was seen as rater astounding, and in almost every known case of a person

missing this region the patient has died at a very young age.

The only ill effects she seemed to show at all were some minor impairments in motor function

and slightly slurred speech, amazing since she should not have even been walking or speaking

at all.

She should not have even been alive.

Indeed, only 9 people are known to have survived for any appreciable length of time without

a cerebellum, a condition called cerebellar agenesis, and in all of these cases they displayed

severe symptoms and handicaps.

This woman was practically normal.

Although doctors are unsure of how this woman was so able to successfully overcome the missing

cerebellum and thrive without one, it is thought that other parts of her brain had somehow

adapted to take over the functions that would have normally been handled by her cerebellum.

This is an area poorly understood by the medical community, and has been seen as an exciting

avenue of research into the resilient plasticity of the human brain and how it works.

One doctor Max Muenke, from the National Human Genome Research Institute, has said of this:

What I find amazing to this day is how the brain can deal with something which you think

should not be compatible with life.

Such cases as we have looked at here open up the door to a whole new world of weirdness

involving the human brain, how it works, and where our consciousness resides.

The traditional view is that we simply need a brain to live, that this is what makes us

who we are and holds our self, yet what of these cases where people are missing large

portions of or even all of their brains, yet show cognition, personality, and understanding?

Is it possible that our consciousness is not confined to any one region of the brain, and

that it is a flexible force that is malleable and adaptable?

There have been many who have come forward in recent years to challenge our beliefs on

what constitutes consciousness and what role the brain plays in it, and have suggested

that our consciousness may be spread out over a variety of areas of the brain.

One hypothesis called radical plasticity thesis proposes that rather than being

born with a consciousness, the brain instead learns the state of consciousness over and

over again, meaning that this process can be performed by different brain regions depending

on the circumstances.

In this hypothesis, consciousness is flexible in that it is not confined to any one area,

and is the result of the brain constantly re-describing and reviewing its own memories

and activities with itself to ultimately form our self awareness.

Therefore, if a person has even a fraction of their brain neurons remaining, then these

neurons hypothetically have the ability to create a theory of themselves and the

person can retain their consciousness.

Dr. Axel Cleeremans, who first proposed this idea in 2011, has said of it:

Consciousness is the brains non-conceptual theory about itself, gained through experience

that is learning, interacting with itself, the world, and with other people.

This hypothesis fits in nicely with our dawning realization that the human brain is more adaptable

than previously thought and its ability to survive trauma mighty.

In many ways we have barely scratched the surface of what mysteries our brains hold,

and have little understanding of what consciousness is and what generates it.

The cases we have looked at here pose many questions.

How are these people able to survive and even function normally in society without large

portions of their brains?

How can they even be alive or cognizant at all?

What is our consciousness and where does it reside?

How does our brain work and what is it truly capable of?

These are questions that lie out over the horizon and which we may someday finally understand,

but

for now we have these tantalizing glimpses into this enigmatic realm of medical mystery.
