I was very small, around 6 years old I think

and they had brought me to see the Easter Representations

and that's theater.

I remember that at some point

I found myself not looking at the actors

but looking at the faces of the people watching this thing.

And right, I have this vivid memory of thinking that these people,

all those around me, were happy

There was an atmosphere of ecstatic happiness.

I realized the power that theater, and therefore a representation, could have.

During my training course I came in contact with an audience of very young boys and girls and then with the Children's Theater,

and I began to feel the necessity of giving back to children what I had actually learned,

and therefore concretely teaching children.

This is where the collaboration with Combo begins because, when we met

the proposal was to integrate theater into a path that was already pre-established.

For me it was a golden opportunity, exactly what I had always itched to do

being able to bring theater around not only in itself

but using it in order to do something more.

At that time I did not understand how to do it

and Combo gave a shape to my wishes.

Theater participates to Combo's journey with kids

as a support, as an extra source of light.

Along this path we talk about impalpable things

because we talk about Dreams, we talk about Respect, we talk about Knowledge, we talk about Emotions.

We are studying a series of exercises that are often not properly theatrical,

but that are created ad hoc for the occasion.

So far this part of the project worked fine

and it is ... powerful, it's very powerful.

Then there is, for example, the Knowledge of the Other, so we set to observe these kids.

There are some exercises that bring classmates, who are spending time together every day, for months,

to really look at each other for the first time.

And here too we work on the physical side of things, so they have to describe things,

or find in another person five things that they are or possess, ecc.

This automatically puts you in a state of listening

and observation completely different from the one we experience in everyday life.

In the school in which we work, at Inzago, we literally left a mark, that is,

we did a rectangle with tape.

The first thing we say to boys and girls is:

"In this rectangle you are free", meaning that there is nothing that can stop you.

The link to Theater for me is, at this point,

the freedom that we want to make these boys and girls feel,

by not having a mind occupied by prejudices

or things that they do not even know where they actually come from.

Our biggest gift, so to speak, is saying:

"Ok, with this free way of thinking you are able to make any sort of choice,

and we surely won't be the ones to tell you which one."

I think that a particular kind of work, let's call it theatrical work

about yourself and others, set in a totally free environment where you practice the rediscovery of little things about yourself,

is something that automatically changes you,

and precisely because the subject matter of this study is your own person.

Because you do not end this road of discovery here,

but what you learn you take it with you out of school, out of the school walls,

out of your classroom, and you bring it in your family, maybe in the future you will bring it to your workplace, to your friends,

you will take it within yourself, and that is clearly a wonderful aspect that Theater has in itself

so it is just like the banal image of throwing a rock into a pond:

that's exactly what happens. Let's say that we are that pebble

and then the rest will go on naturally by itself.

Let's say we're just that pebble because we're lucky enough to do it.

My project is called "You Are President"

When you play, you are faced with a set of problems

which you can react to with "yes, let's do it"

or "no, let's not do this"

You get hints, telling you what the consequences of your actions could be

Our project "LARES" is a 2D Adventure

You play the guardian angel of a family

This angel is the "lares", it stems from Roman mythology

How do you like the workshop?

Very much, because I want to see for myself how I present myself,

my school and my project

I want to see how this develops

and how the others will present their projects

It is pretty cool

We didn't know how much freedom we would have to design the exhibition

We now know that we can do much more than we thought

and that it can be much more elaborate

and more appealing

We don't only want the youngsters to give us ideas

on how to present their projects

but we really want them to be actively involved

Right now, we have this idea that we will print certain elements

from the game on cardboard cutouts

and kind of recreate the in-game world in real life

We'll see, now we're still in the process of dreaming

We'll have to see if or how we implement these dreams
