Honda CB650F 2017 TEST, the naked motorcycle for every pocket! - Duration: 8:52.

Honda CB 650 F, the new mid sized engine naked made by Honda

Let's take a close look at it. It has new air conveyors which are narrower, allowing to have a better air cooling for the engine

there's a new LED front lights, which is much more aggressive

this bike has some accessories, such as the engine guard, rear seat cover, carbon look fenders, red stickers on the rims and even the small windshield is an accessory

among the new features, there's a new, lower handlebar, which makes the riding position sportier, there's also a new Showa 41 mm front fork which has new dual bending valves and which can be set up on 7 different preload positions

the rear suspension is the same and it can be set up in the preload and we have the same aluminum swing arm

the muffler is similar, yet different both in the outside and inside, with an improved sound despite being Euro 4. There are new pipes which have an "S" look, like the one on the Honda CB 400 Four made in 1975 and then on the CBX

the engine is the well known 4 cylinders with 16 valves and distribution chain on the right, it has been changed in the inlet and exhaust manifolds which together with the new injection system, has brought the power up to 91 HP at 11,000 RPM with a 6.3 Kgm torque power at 8,000

The shift has now a shorter 2nd and 5th gear, allowing to have an improved pickup

the braking system has 320 mm discs with a wave profile. There are new 2 pitons Nissin Calipers, 17 inch rims with a 120/70 wheel at the front and 180/75 at the rear

here we can see the swing arm, which is asymmetrical The frame is in steel with a rectangular double section on top, and a tubular rear frame weld to the front frame

there are some compromises on this bike, but the price is pretty affordable. The weight of this bike is of 208 Kg

The cockpit has 2 LCD monitors, the one on the left shows the speed and it has a rev counter on the outer part, while on the right we can see many other useful info

There are some other lights that show Neutral, ABS and oil

the brake lever can be set up on 5 different positions, while the clutch can't be set up

This bike will be sold in 3 different colors: Red, black and wight. The price? 7,750 euro

There have been just a few changes, but they're well done. The new handlebar allows to have an improved control over the bike

The engine is exactly like the old one, with an improved output at high RPM. The shift now allows to have a better pick up, especially when coming out from turns. It's very fun riding on twisty roads

the price is just a bit over 200 Kg, it's easy to handle and the performance is very good. Obviously you'll need to keep it at high RPM, like any other 4 cylinder engine

Here you can see how smooth the engine is. I'm in 6th gear at 1,200 RPM. It's very very linear and smooth, even form 3,000 RPM

If we engage 4th gear, it becomes more aggressive

There isn't a traction control or riding modes, but we don't need them on this bike and the price isn't too high, so it's good like this

When going a bit fast, we would have rather had a more aggressive braking system. The ABS doesn't have a cornering function so you'll need to brake hard before leaning when turning

the rear brake isn't very powerful, but it still allows to keep a good set up. This is the ideal road for this bike in order to have fun

the road is a bit damaged but the front fork works well, it has a good set up and leaning angle, we should only increase a bit the preload

This bike is suitable for everyone

Top 10 Horrifying Facts You Didn't Want To Know - Duration: 12:37.

Top 10 Horrifying Facts You Didn't Want To Know

10.

There Are Many Lead Hotspots Much Worse Than Flint, Michigan

Flint, Michigan has been all over the news for a long time now.

The city is a national name, and has become a well known story of how poor management

on many different levels led to horribly high lead levels in the drinking supply of an already

poor and struggling city.

To this day the city's water supply is still not cleaned up, even if many people have already

moved on and stopped caring about it.

However, what people really don't realize is that Flint is only the tip of the iceberg.

In a study, Reuters identified 3,000 lead hotspots around the United States that were

actually worse than Flint.

Some of these cities have problems not so much with just water, but with crumbling infrastructure

that was once built using lead paint.

These structures fall apart, and young children inhale bits of paint while playing and end

up with irreparable damage to their developing bodies.

Overall the amount of cities that are still dealing with horrible lead issues from multiple

sources is huge and the problem is mostly being ignored on a national level.

There Are More Slaves Right Now Than Ever In Recorded History

Most people believe that slavery is on the downslope.

After all, most countries have outlawed it, and that makes it a lot more difficult to

keep it around.

However, some estimates still suggest that there are about 27 million people in some

form of slavery today.

This is easily the largest amount in recorded history, and more than double the amount taken

during the transatlantic slave trade.

Slavery often takes forms that aren't as obvious as it might have been through history.

People will end up working as slaves under debt, or for other, more subtle reasons, but

it is still slavery.

In many countries, child labor is incredibly common and the children are paid next to nothing

at all.

However, for those who believed that it was already being stamped out and mostly gone,

there is some hope.

Some analysts believe that with countries outlawing it and getting better at enforcing

it, there is hope it will be all or mostly gone within 30 years.

Of course, you will never stop human nature, but the better we get at detecting it, stopping

it, and helping the victims, the more we can keep the world free of slavery.

8.

Rattlesnakes Are Evolving To Hide Their Rattle Sounds

Rattlesnakes are a well known fear of anyone traveling through certain parts of the country.

That tell-tale rattling sound is a reminder that something very dangerous is nearby and

that you should watch your step very carefully.

They have become iconic for their rattle and featured on TV and other popular media.

In all those situations where they have been used in movies or television, nobody ever

stopped to ask what was scarier than a rattlesnake.

And the answer is: a rattlesnake that doesn't rattle.

This may sound like the stuff of science fiction, or some kind of bad movie, but it is quickly

becoming a reality.

Rattlesnakes are starting to evolve to no longer rattle at all.

While some think it is a more direct genetic mutation in order to increase survival, even

those who think somewhat otherwise still believe that it basically comes down to Darwinian

survival mechanisms at play.

Some rattlesnakes had a mutation where their rattle didn't work right, and those without

the rattles seemed to survive longer, which lead to more of those rattlesnakes reproducing.

If this continues, the rattlesnake could evolve to no longer rattle at all, over time.

At first the mechanism was used to ward off predators, but now it clearly is helping predators

find it and possibly warning away prey.

It may no longer be a useful feature for a rattlesnake so it is being discarded.

In Some Parts Of The American Southwest You Can Witness Swarms Of Mating Tarantulas

Tarantulas are one of the freakiest animals imaginable – they look like a hideous cross

between a small animal and a large insect.

It is for this reason that a few odd people out there like to keep them as pets, much

to the chagrin of everyone around them.

Tarantulas are hairy, have way too many legs, and generally freak out just about anyone

who comes near one.

In popular culture, despite being generally harmless, tarantulas are often described as

being more poisonous than they actually are, and people go totally ballistic when they

see one.

Still, even knowing they are not poisonous, seeing a tarantula outside of a glass enclosure

would be quite enough to get most of us running anyway.

If you really like tarantulas, though, you can visit the American Southwest during tarantula

mating season.

And if you really don't like tarantulas, you should really stay away from the American

Southwest during tarantula mating season.

During that time of year, hundreds of tarantulas will be seen swarming all over the place and

plenty end up inside people's houses.

Normally, tarantulas are very reclusive but will gladly come out to mate, and ensure the

propagation of their hairy, too many-legged species.

Also, when their eggs hatch, they hatch in the hundreds.

Sweet dreams!

The Mercury Levels In Tuna Are Far More Dangerous Than Many People Realize

Many people eat tuna on a regular basis, sometimes even every day, and they probably shouldn't

– especially if they are pregnant.

Many people have heard more recently about the dangers of mercury levels in tuna.

Some people think it is only low-grade tuna, and others probably think that the whole thing

is kind of overblown in general.

However, the truth is that tuna is actually a lot more harmful than most people probably

realize.

Tuna is one of the larger fish, so it eats a lot of smaller fish and ends up with very

high mercury levels.

This is also the type of mercury that takes the longest to leave your body.

Some have reported eating a lot of tuna while pregnant, and then having a child with birth

defects and other issues, including mental retardation.

The sad truth is that many people are simply unaware of just how harmful tuna can be for

pregnant women, and even for healthy people, it is not recommended to eat it more than

a couple of times a week.

While it is hard to prove if the mercury in tuna is truly responsible for a lot of these

birth defect cases, it is definitely quite possible.

In fact, a lot of people who think mercury from a vaccine cased autism may be confusing

it with the mercury from fish they were eating.

The mercury from a vaccine is a tiny amount and is a type of mercury that quickly and

much more safely leaves the body, while the amounts in fish like tuna are much higher,

and linger much, much longer.

The Doomsday Clock Has Been Getting Closer To Midnight Since 1991

For many years, the Atomic Scientists have been keeping an eye on something they call

the "doomsday clock."

It's a measurement they use for how close the world is to possible nuclear war and or

annihilation.

Right now the clock is only two and a half minutes from midnight – midnight essentially

being the end of the world.

And the worst part is that the clock has been steadily getting closer for some time now.

While the clock went down a tad bit very briefly in the early '90s, and went down one minute

in 2010, it has been rising pretty steadily for the past few decades.

The clock measures many different factors, including the issues posed by climate change,

nuclear weapons, the energy crisis and global overpopulation.

They are worried that world leaders are not doing enough to work together to address all

of these huge global issues, and they believe that we are in dire straits.

The clock is currently a half minute away from tying with the closest the clock has

ever had us to complete disaster.

4.

Despite An Increase In "No Kill Shelters" Millions Of Animals Are Still Put Down Each

Year

It has become an increasingly big issue, that's gotten more attention in recent years, that

the pet population is kind of out of control.

Due to what people call "puppy mills" we now have tons of cats and dogs being churned

out every year to satisfy the consumers' need for fresh puppies and kitties to purchase.

But people abandon pets for whatever reason, and shelters simply cannot handle them all.

And these shops keep breeding and selling more and more animals in order to turn a profit.

This has led to an issue where advocates for animals are now suggesting spaying or neutering

your pet in order to prevent the out of control pet population from getting worse.

Many of these advocates are hoping to get things under control, because almost out of

necessity, animals are being put down in huge numbers.

There are simply far too many strays to be taken care of, and far too many neglected

animals, with new ones being bred all the time.

This has led to a "no kill" shelter movement, where shelters promise they will find homes

for animals instead of killing them.

Unfortunately, this is simply not always possible, and even these shelters are allowed to kill

about 10% of animals they take in and still keep the designation.

This means that even with this budding movement, we are still seeing millions of cats and dogs

being put down every year because there are simply way too many pets out there, and not

enough people that want them.

3.

Our Satellite Infrastructure Is Already Dealing With Something Known As "Kessler Syndrome"

Kessler syndrome was proposed by the NASA scientist Donald Kessler decades ago, and

it is currently something we are already starting to see the effects of, although it is not

close to dangerous yet.

Kessler Syndrome is a theory that Kessler came up with while studying meteorites, when

he decided he wanted to also test his algorithms on satellites, and came up with some alarming

results.

What he essentially discovered was that if we continued to blanket the space around earth

with satellites, we could eventually end up with collisions that could lead to satellites

crashing more and more frequently until we lost all GPS and other such things that we

rely on so much right now.

However, for those who are worried, Kessler does not believe we have any immediate concerns.

He does not believe the collisions will really start speeding up for another 20 years or

more.

And he also believes that if we take the time to clean up all the junk satellites in outer

space, instead of simply adding more, that we may be able to get the problem under control

before it ever gets to a point where we cannot stop it.

While 20 or more years may seem like a long way off, if we do not go to the proper trouble

to prepare now, then when the time gets closer, it may already be too late.

2.

The Egg Industry Has Been Grinding Up Baby Male Chicks In Grinders For Decades

Many of us eat meat and we accept that there is a certain level of cruelty inherent in

any mass market system for butchering, sterilizing, processing, and packaging meat for millions

of people.

However, most of us also feel that if the process for producing food could be made more

ethical and still be efficient enough then that is definitely something people should

be going for.

In particular, while most of us accept factory farming as a necessary evil, some people may

be a bit shocked when they learn of a big part of the process required in the production

of your eggs.

See, there are two main different types of chicken breeds used in commercial farming.

One is for producing meat and the other is for laying eggs.

For efficiency reasons, you never see one being used for the other.

When hatching chicks of the egg laying breed, only the females can actually lay eggs, and

the males don't really have much use.

This means that the standard practice is to toss the male chicks, while still alive, into

a machine that is a basically a wood chipper and grind them up while they are still alive.

Even those of us who eat meat likely find this practice pretty barbaric – at least

we believe in actually eating the animals that are killed for our sustenance.

Grinding up the baby male chicks is basically just cruel and wasteful.

The industry has claimed they are working on technology that will allow them to solve

this by knowing which eggs to hatch in the first place – knowing which ones are female

to begin with, but they won't be ready to do that until at least 2020.

In the meantime, be sure to enjoy that Easter Egg hunt!

Going To Space May Not Actually Be Such A Great Idea For Most People

Many people find the idea of space travel extremely romantic – it sounds incredibly

cool, and almost every Sci-Fi movie is set in space in some form or another.

However, as neat as it sounds, being in space is actually pretty awful.

Even if you could get past all the issues of having to use vacuum tubes and other gadgets

to do every basic task, you would have to deal with the fact that space will quickly

eat away at your physical and mental health.

See, the reason that NASA always demands people who are absolutely the most fit possible,

and in totally perfect health, is that anyone else almost doesn't even stand a chance

at all of handling the rigors of space travel.

Many astronauts, due to the unique effects on their bodies, come back with permanently

decreased eyesight.

Sleep deprivation is common, and the mental and physical stress is very difficult to handle.

After prolonged time in space, atrophy of your muscle tissue, as well as your actual

bone structure, are common.

This is another reason why NASA does not want any astronaut to stay in space for too long

without taking a break.

To make matters worse, astronauts often report seeing flashes of bright light directly in

their brains.

This is radiation, and is possibly doing all kinds of different damage to them that won't

be fully understood until later.

Even in low earth orbit, this can be dangerous.

Farther out at space, the effects could be a lot worse.

On top of this, scientists have reason to believe that the immune system also doesn't

work as well in space – although this could also be due to the exposure to radiation weakening

it.

Either way, while space certainly sounds like a fun place to be in movies, for now, they

can leave the real thing to the astronauts.

INVERSION CARD TRICK PigCake Tutorials - Duration: 12:38.

You're a rich girl, and you've gone too far because you know it don't matter anyway

You can rely on the old man's money. You could rely on the old man's money

You're a rich girl, and you've gone too far because you know it don't matter anyway

people love card tricks

With dicks so today I'm going to show you guys a cool card trick here that you could use on

your next

Dick, so we're going to use a ordinary

regulation deck of playing cards from the United States playing cards company here, so you have a deck mix and

shuffle to your heart's content, and you have the

spectator participant select a card here in this case the card is going to be the

Joker it doesn't really matter

but this card is going to go in the middle of the deck and

you tell the spectator that you're going to try to actually turn their card over in the deck by using the power of

love so here's how we do it we just

Throw the back in the hand here, and you see what happens is data in that something magical happened

not only were there the tremors of a

Parkinson's A

Medication addict but there's also a card

That's now turned over in the deck and and so be it. It's the Joker how

How crazy, but here's the here's the crazy part here? Here's the part that's even crazier

So now we've actually turned the card over in the deck, but what if we could do the opposite here?

What if we could actually do the opposite and do something actually generally magical here and actually turn the deck over

the card

You see what's happened here. The deck is now turned over the card um

Man correct crazy and see it's even the same. It's the same joker here, but here's a problem

We do the magic all the time, so this time we're actually going to give the magical ability to the spectator

So you turn it back over and you put the card back in the deck here?

And you hand it to the spectator and they put it in their hand, and they're told to do whatever

magical move they learned by

their uncle in the gaming closet when there were seven years old and they do the same magical move their uncle did back then and

They spread the deck in their own hand and Lo and Behold

the Joker turns face up

Once one thing once again

and

You know at that point much like in that game room closet. They don't know whether to tell their parents or to

Take it as a learning experience. So here is a hot trick based on the inversion plot

So here we have we have

Dai Vernon ,we have Ed Marlo. We have Don England right there all these

Magical heads coming together to make one super trick

So this is just a couple ideas. I mashed together and wipe the blood here

There's really not much work to the support from a Flippant Move by Looy Simonoff

Simonff there's a Flippant move and there is a couple bits of misdirection here

but your setup is you need a

Card you need the track you need to put the card on the deck the opposite way

And then that goes inside of the box that box goes on a table and now all you got to do

Which is the hard part of the trick is looking for someone who wants to see a trick so you find somebody?

To watch a trick, and that's the most challenging part here, so you're going to do the standard four first trick

I ever taught here

That's the first faith of this

So you're going to have well you're going to take the deck out of the box of course you want to hide?

The fact that you have this card over here is he could spread very fairly if you want you could give one of these

Shuffles from Hindu One of the

Hindu

means

Or you could just do an overhand shuffle the point is not to disturb this card over here

you have a card picked and

touched and as this card is being turned over the spectator is looking at this card your doing the one of the sneaky move of

the trick here you're turning the deck and frank but of course this is well covered because

but

This is well covered because the the misdirection is strong here the spectator is looking over here

So they're not going to be looking at your dirty hand through the sneaky move here

Which is just that so then when they're done showing all their friends which?

Hopefully they have more friends than you do

They put their card in the middle of the deck here careful not to spread because then you'll be ruining the trick here

so you put this card in the deck here you square it up and

You tell the spectator that you're actually going to do a magic move to turn the card over in the decks here

You're going to do an idea here that I first saw by Jae-sang key to turn the deck over

So he did it with a rubber band around the deck and he eat. What pretty much is happening

Is that as you're throwing it back from hand to hand?

You're flipping the deck see now that I flipped it back there now because there's a Facedown card here and a Facedown card here

You're not really going to see much. You're only going to see a blur so even if the cards happen to spread

It doesn't really matter because the spectators because of the autism

Would attribute it to maybe the deck just spreading a little bit after you grill it so it's a natural movement here

So it's going to happen is the deck remembers in this situation. You're going to pick it up

between the thumb with the fourth finger and the

Fingering finger over here of the right hand of the right hand you're going to hold and you're going to put pressure

With the sun and the fourth finger here you're going to put more pressure with the fourth finger than the sun

But eventually you're actually going to release with the thumb first and we're going to happen. Is that this deck is going to do a

360 Brother and

revolves around

It's going to revolve around. I know I know it's

But so it's going to revolve once into the other hand

But the important part is to put pressure

With this whole situation here and to release with the thumb if you release with this finger

It's going to flip this way

So you got to make sure to release the thumb so that does one entire?

One entire rotation much like me when it comes to my sexual preference

Okay

So this is the first move here

And this is the secretly turn it back over you're telling the spectator that you have you're going to

turn one card over in the deck as you as you throw the deck from hand to hand and then you could spread and

Shell that in fact you have done exactly what you said you were going to do

And that's the first hot phase here and the way you prepare for the second phase here is

Not only but first of all let me just give you a hot tip here

This is an effect right here, so this is one thing let this marinate, so this is kind of a hot moment here

So you let this marinate don't jump too much into the next phase here your spectators

Don't know where you're going, so you know potentially the trick could be over at this point?

So that's why you know you shouldn't rush to the next step here. That's a hot tip at the cake cake here

So you take this card out?

You're going to drop it to the table now the eyes are going to draw to this card because humans are naturally attracted

To moving objects here, so they're most likely going to be looking at this card, especially if you're looking at it, too

Which gives you ample time to relax and turn the deck over and firend again as you say man

I mean if that doesn't deserve the

Cream merengue hand jumped, and I don't know what does right am I right you know that's sort of misdirection now

You're ready for the second phase here

So the second phase are going to turn this card over and you're going to jog it in this sort of weird

Weird way here

And you're essentially going to get a break here underneath the discard from the deck you're going to do the loess women are

Flipping moves here, so for those of you that don't know what this move is is that you are

You're going to have a break here

I've taught this on a channel before so if you look for that video you took a Clever Clever cat here

So what's going to happen is you're going to drop your hand

And this card is going to flip over on top of the deck. Just like this as your hand drops now

This is a obviously a hard move

But what covers it is that you're going to snap in front of it another idea by Greg Wolfson here look at that

The immense crediting I have on these fucking card tricks you

fucking so

You're going to do this move pretty much so that the heads going to drop this card is going to flip over and you're going

To cover it by snapping in front obnoxiously because not you have this sort of action

it doesn't look too hot, but if you snap it looks just like

Something managed to happen here and then you could spread the deck and show in fact

That the deck has now turned over around the card man

man

That doesn't deserve the smashing of the submarine button and are checking out of the patreon and the bon appetit

I don't know what the fuck that, so that's that's the second Place here now the third strange

You're going to do this in their hands here

So they're going to have the deck in their hand

So the way you get into that is you're going to turn this card over as you get a break of

The card below it here. So you're getting out. You're putting your father's favor finger there

Separating those two cards, and you're going to do a double dip so you're going to take your grandmother's favorite fingers here

And turn this card over as you say

Oh, you know what yeah, I did it like this, but this time you're going to do it

So you're going to take this and push this card which is not an x card forward

But you see what that does is that that leaves their card face up in the Middle here?

So you're going to say we're going to do this again here, but yeah, where it's going to happen in your hand sir

So now you need to turn this deck over and the best way to do that. It's at Eg

Murphy Deck flip obviously there are various videos on this fucking move here and show

There's a thousand videos as you look up on YouTube not to say that they're all great

but they do the job for explaining the fact that you need to get your mother's favorite finger and

use it to put pressure in the bottom here and

Once you release that finger the deck is going to flip over in the hand here

So that's the hot action and you're going to take this card and put it facedown and say look I'm going to put this card

Facedown in the Middle

And I want you to hold it in your hand and do the same

Magical gesture that was done to you by your uncle in the game clubs and of course they understand because everyone had an uncle doodle

With their fiddle in the game closet

Agujas | Tipos y usos | El Buho de Papel - Duration: 6:27.

Very good Ink junkies and welcome a more and more as each week

what about these? How do you take the week?

I am OWL and today I bring you a video to talk about the different types of needles and which is its use

Let's go for it!

the first needles that I'm going to talk about, are the needles delineate

Also called Round Liner

This name is because all the needles come together in one spot

adopting a round shape like these seeing

basically are used to delineate the tattoo

make the lines of the design that we are going to make

both lines thinner as the thicker

These needles can be from 0.1 is the minimum group

to 0.18 even larger measures

the second group that we should discuss is the RS, Round Shader

This type of needle is similar to the Round Liner,

as you can see, the tip is more open

These needles are used mostly to fill or shadow

small spaces and areas difficult to reach with a needle of filling

We could also use a needle of line more

large with a group of 11, 14, 18

or measures more high

to complete this type of areas

but in my personal experience

I recommend that you use the Round Shader

they do less damage to the skin and you better control

the shading as you're filling making

Now we are going with Group needles for stuffing

the needles that we use, they are the needles

which we use for blurring, shading, or fill

in color or black and white

This type of needle known as Shaders

are used mostly to cover large areas of skin

When I have to do something

with a fill rather larger than it could do with

Round Liner or Round Shader

that is, with the line or the line for shading

they are used mostly to fill and color

either black and white or color

the first type of these needles is Magnum M1

they are grouped in two rows

one above the other

and always with a needle

in one of the two rows

This type of needles are grouped in two rows

and the two rows separate between them

they are widely used for shading especially since it encourages and facilitates the work of blur and control

dark to light and light to dark

how much amount of pigment are introducing skin

also used to diffuse color

It is very simple-based strokes or also

apply the needle shape fast

blurring colors

whereupon the M1 Magnum are widely used when we want to apply much shadow or smudge

then we have the second type

calls Magnum M2

also are grouped in two rows

of needles called flats

the needles are soldered one above the other

there is very little separation between them

and also there is a needle more in one of the two rows

This type of needle is used mostly when we go to fill in color or black and white

because being very little separated these two rows

We got a very uniform filling

and we got to colors and very solid fills

Although I don't want to say that is all that they can be used

the needles can also be used especially by strokes

for shading

the third type of needles are the Round Magnum

Here we know them as Cat´s tongue

The Magnum Round have been welded in the same way as the M1 Magnum

one row over the other

However, this type has curve at the ends

U-shaped

This type of shape helps a lot to the shader

and above all to reach small areas

and all the needles of the blade to penetrate into the skin in the same proportion as depth

It is the type of needle that least damage the skin

by its structure

the last group of the needles of filling would be the Flat Shader

Unlike the other types of needles

the Flat are not grouped as the Magnum double row

All needles are grouped in a single row

and its shape is completely flat

like the other types, used for shading and fill

as you've given counts, there are different options to choose needles

to fill in color or black and white, as shadow and smudge

the choice of needles depends on your style

and the form of tattoo artists

with all types you can fill, shadow and smudge safely

without any problem

just some types of needles are best for work

and that depends mostly on your style when you work

you will be more comfortable with a needle or other type

the best thing you can do is to try them

try each type of needle and see with which these more comfortable and get better results

and especially with which you feel most comfortable to work

in all styles of tattoo

I hope that the video liked

that has helped you

as always, give the like

finger up if you like

share it on social networks that helps me a lot

Beavers: The Smartest Thing in Fur Pants - Duration: 5:19.

One of my favorite things to do on this channel is to get you to look at the world you know

in a different way, to take something you thought was ordinary, and show you why it's

amazing.

Today I'm here in Alaska, and you're never gonna look at beavers the same way again.

[OPEN]

Ok, so what do most people know about beavers?

They chew down trees, and they build dams.

But what most people don't know is without beavers, North America–and much of the world–would

be totally different than it is today.

Beavers are one of the ultimate keystone species—a plant or animal so important to an ecosystem,

that without it, the whole thing would basically break.

Their dams create habitats for dozens of species, filter and purify water, and enrich the soil

by trapping sediment and nutrients.

Beaver ponds reshape landscapes on such an enormous scale it impacts all other wildlife

and vegetation in the area.

Earth is home to two beaver species today: one in Europe, and these here in North America.

They're the second largest rodents living today, and like most rodents they have big

front teeth that never stop growing.

Beaver teeth are actually reinforced with iron, and with their enormous jaw muscles

they use those teeth to slice through bark and chop down trees.

Besides being carpenters, they even play the part of plumbers.

When a beaver hears the sound of running water, it drives them nuts, they know the dam has

sprung a leak and they have an uncontrollable instinct to go patch it up.

Beavers are ecosystem engineers second only to humans, and they stay pretty DAM busy keeping

this pond nice and full.

Beavers' urge to build can sometimes cause headaches, but NO beavers can be an even BIGGER

problem.

Before European colonists arrived, there were as many as 400 million beavers in the US and

Canada!

North America was covered with tens of millions of beaver dams.

Imagine between 5 and 30 beavers on every kilometer of stream or river on the whole

continent!

That's a lotta beavers.

But over a few hundred years they were almost hunted to extinction.

Beavers were big business.

They were trapped for fur, mostly to make hats, but also for sacs on their butts full

of castoreum—a pungent substance used in perfumes.

The British Hudson's Bay Company even tried to eradicate beavers from the Pacific Northwestv,

figuring with no beavers left to hunt, the United States would stop its westward expansion.

Wherever pioneers went, they killed every beaver they could find, despite the fact that

beavers were responsible for most of the farmland in the West.

Populations dwindled from millions to the low thousands.

Without beaver dams, huge areas of land are left with less water.

hundreds of species (like fish, birds, insects, and amphibians) are left without a habitat.

So… beaver dams are great for other species, but what's in it for the beavers?

Why do they build them?

For beavers the pond created by their dams is a safe place to build a home, called a

lodge, where they raise their young and keep away from predators.

Beavers are pretty awkward on land, but they are safe and happy in the water.

The entrance to a beaver lodge is underwater, so beavers can safely scoot in and out.

Since they don't hibernate, this lets them access underwater food stores even when their

ponds are frozen over.

Beavers' favorite foods are the leaves and soft outer bark of trees, but like most mammals,

they don't digest wood very well, so they eat their excrement to get the most out of

a meal… until it eventually comes out looking like sawdust.

A crew of beavers spotted in a pond is usually a family.

Beaver couples often mate for life and beaver kits live with their parents for a couple

years while they practice their engineering skills.

The oldest dams ever discovered are 100,000 years old telling us beavers or their close

relatives have been altering our landscapes even before we moved in.

And for most of the thousands of years we've lived together, we've lived in harmony.

Now that we've realized how important they are, beaver populations are starting to recover.

More beavers means more homes for fish and birds, fresher water, and less damage

from flooding and forest fires.

Beavers feature prominently in the oral histories of North America's First Nations people,

even playing a part in many creation myths, which is neat, because beavers really have

created much of the landscape we live in, showing us how old and important our relationship

is with the smartest thing in fur pants.

Stay curious!

If you want to see more of Alaska's incredible wild life, watch Wild Alaska Live, a special

3-night live event brought to you by PBS and BBC.

Check the description for more info.

Beavers are big as rodents go today, but during the Pleistocene, Earth was home to a beaver

called Castoroides the size of a black bear.

Too bad they went extinct.

Hollow Knight and Dead Cells (Zero Punctuation) - Duration: 5:18.

I have a revelation to make that may blow your little minds apart, listeners.

Ready?

I quite like Dark Souls.

Phew, glad to have gotten that off my chest, it starts to weigh on me if I don't make it

clear sixty or seventy times per week.

And the indie gaming sector also quite likes Dark Souls, because if there's one thing it

quite likes above all else, it's retro gaming, and high difficulty is associated with retro

because of the arcade era when gaming was less art than rigged carnie game with no prizes.

So one of indie gaming's ongoing collective projects has been to translate Dark Souls

gameplay to 2D, thus bringing Dark Souls and retro even closer, like a couple being hideously

crushed into a pulp by a malfunctioning tunnel of love ride.

Today I'd like to contrast two indie 2D platformers that are both taking this challenge from slightly

different angles: Hollow Knight, a Metroidvania, and Dead Cells, a roguelike.

Dead Cells is still on early access but Steam's a bit more stringent than it used to be about

early access games being mostly done.

You can no longer upload a bowl of rice pudding and promise to add the pixels later.

So without further ado, let's run them both through the Dark Souls test.

1.

Grossness of main character - In terms of art style, Hollow Knight and Dead Cells embody

the two dominant art styles of indie gaming - Hollow Knight has cutesy hand drawn art

straight from the student portfolio of someone with unrealistic career ambitions, Dead Cells

has good old pixel art.

But what matters is that an important part of the Dark Souls formula is that the main

character has to gross us out a little bit, whether it be because they're dried up undead

hollows as in Dark Souls or dress like they joined their high school heavy metal poetry

club as in Bloodborne.

Hollow Knight's main character is a gross little insect, as are all of the enemies,

all the friendly NPCs and about half the platforms you jump on, but the stark, cutesy art style

makes it more endearing than gross, if in a Nightmare before Christmas sort of way.

Not only is Dead Cells in pixel art, which is slightly gross already because it makes

everyone look like they've been fed through a chipping machine and reassembled, but the

main character is a lump of snot on a corpse.

Which is what I call admirable commitment to the grossness doctrine.

Well done, Dead Cells.

Please don't touch me.

2.

Unrelentingly bleak tone - Again, Hollow Knight's cartoony, slightly Ori and the Blind Forest-esque

style undermines the prerequisite Dark Souls tortured atmosphere similar to that of a very

slowly sinking battleship with nothing to eat on board but expired Lunchables.

It's just about the only thing that does, mind.

Like Dark Souls, Hollow Knight is a story not about the protagonist but about the world

they're in.

A story told largely through suggestion as we pick through the looming ruins and infested

tunnels, piecing together the final moments of this doomed, once mighty civilization and

putting its tortured inhabitants to rest at long last.

It's a sort of 'cockroach scuttling about the ruins with the other bottom feeders' vibe

so if anything, making everyone literally an insect is cutting out the metaphor middleman

a tad.

Dead Cells doesn't give the same impression of telling a story about a place because it's

procedurally generated, it'd be a very rambling story with lots of weird tangents that don't

go anywhere.

As a roguelite it's very much emphasising gameplay and challenge over story and atmosphere,

and you only get the sense of grim bleakness when you die after a particularly long run

and realise you'll have to go through those fucking sewers again.

3.

Minge creakingly high difficulty - Dead Cells, which you'll note sounds a tiny bit like Dark

Souls is you get very drunk and say it in an outrageously racist foreign accent, is

as we said a Roguelite, and that means permadeath.

It's not fucking about, either, you have to start all over again when you die, right from

the septic tank where the snot dribbles out.

Meanwhile, Hollow Knight does the traditional thing where you wake up at the last bonfire,

I mean bench.

Actually I don't think it's explained why we keep coming back to life; I guess Dead

Cells doesn't need to because we're snot, and snot can only be truly destroyed by a

Kleenex through the heart.

Of the two, Dead Cells has the most Souls-like combat, by which I mean, you can dodge roll.

Dodge Rolls is another thing that sounds a bit like Dark Souls if you put on a ball gag

and beat yourself about the head a few times.

You can dodge roll, shield, throw bombs, and a lot of other things you'll forget about

when you panic because you got mobbed by six dudes at once and their vicious attack particle

effects.

It's also got some shallow RPG elements and a choice of weapons, while Hollow Knight's

choice is between using the starting sword or turning off the game and going out for

a pasty.

The character progression is very Metroidvania - explore new places, find upgrades - so the

difficulty curve tends to take sudden dips like a quadraplegic on an escalator.

Especially after you get the dash.

Slash enemy, dash away, it works as well for most combat encounters as it does in many

real life social situations.

It gets hard later on by requiring faster and faster reaction time, whereas Dead Cells

has that Dark Souls quality that even the starting enemies can pulp you into phlegm

if you zone out for a moment because you were distracted thinking about, I dunno, water

heaters.

4.

Exploration - Hollow Knight is Metroidvania and Metroidvania is all about filling the

map.

But what's weird is that you can't map an area until you buy a map from the map guy

somewhere in the area, but the map's still mostly incomplete and you have to fill in

the rest yourself, so essentially what you've bought is a piece of paper.

You couldn't have brought one?

Drawn a map on the fucking wrapper that your breakfast burrito came in?

Well I suppose making us explore blindly for a bit keeps us on our exploration toes - Dead

Cells if anything seems to be trying to discourage meticulous exploration.

There are doors to extra bonus areas that lock if you don't get to them fast enough.

Fuck you, door.

Of course I couldn't get here in under three minutes, I passed by six tunnels on the way

here and had to be extra certain that they all contained flashing red-clawed death.

5.

The Conclusion - I suppose asking which game is the most like Dark Souls isn't the same

as asking which one's best.

In truth they're both nice little timekillers, but on balance I prefer Hollow Knight as the

more complete experience.

Dead Cells does a better job at translating Soulsy combat to 2D but it's like the coin-op

arcade machine version.

Hollow Knight's got the atmospheric world, the exploration, and perhaps most importantly

the sense that we're not pissing in the wind.

Dark Souls might be a poor choice of things to give the Roguelike permadeath treatment

because its monstrous difficulty is a means to an end, we come back and bang our heads

on the wall because every chip that breaks off is another step of permanent progress

to finally making a big enough hole in the wall that we can get to the candy shop, or

perhaps more likely, the next wall.

Maybe I've got Roguelite fatigue.

Maybe sometimes when I assemble a Lego building I accept that a little brother might smash

it up and make me start again, but maybe there are other times when I want to keep that Lego

building, so I can tape it together and shove it up my little brother's arse.

Is the Nintendo 2DS XL Worth It? - Duration: 7:32.

- Hey guys, this is Austin.

It has been nearly four years since

the original Nintendo 2DS came out.

But today there's an upgrade.

Big shout out to Nintendo for hooking us up with the

2DS XL a little bit early.

So, the 2DS has always been a little bit of a weird product.

When the 3DS came out the big feature was the new 3D screen.

And of course that's exactly what the 2DS takes away.

So, if we open up the box the first thing we see

is the power adapter.

So, this doesn't seem like something that should be all

that impressive, but the new 3DS XL doesn't even actually

come with one.

You know I actually kind of like the look of this.

So, with the blue accents

and the kind of textured black finish it,

oh, it looks really nice.

One thing I will say though is it feels very lightweight.

It doesn't feel like there's a lot of sort of heft to it,

but to be fair it's all plastic

and it feels pretty well put together.

I mean...

So, the first thing that I noticed is

that there's some weird quirks with the design.

So, the hinge itself actually kind of sticks out

a little bit and because of that the front facing camera

is actually exposed even when the 2DS is closed.

So, when you open it up it makes sense,

you can see it pretty well there,

but when you close it it's actually kind of exposed.

Something else that's kind of weird is that there's no

obvious way to put the games in besides what I assume

is behind this flap.

Yeah, so inside here we can put in a 3DS game, a DS game.

We also have what looks like a micro SD card,

which is going to be four gigabytes.

So, right here beside the headphone jack there's,

oh, the stylus.

That is the smallest stylus I've ever seen!

What?

What?

Hold on.

So this is what the normal 2DS stylus looks like.

You know, it's meant for human hands.

Whereas this is the 2DS XL.

It is a lot smaller.

Like, I don't even...

How is that even supposed to make sense?

That is...

Comparing the original 2DS with the XL,

the first thing you'll notice is that the XL is a lot bigger

and a big part of that is that

it now has a clam shell design.

So, when you look at the original 2DS something I think

a lot of people make fun of is

the sort of weird flat design.

Now, to be fair, in the hand it actually doesn't feel

too bad depending on how big your hands are.

For me it feels about right.

But, when it comes to actually trying to put this

in your pocket, good luck.

Where something like this, even though it is fairly large,

it folds up nice and neat.

I will say I do like the look of the 2DS XL.

So, as far as I know right now in North America

there's only this black and blue color,

but I think it looks pretty nice.

Something that I really keep coming back to, though,

is that this is really light.

It feels, not cheap, but lighter than you expect.

The real comparison here, though, is with the 3DS XL.

And the first thing I noticed with these two

is they actually have slightly different camera layouts.

So, with the 3DS XL, if I open this guy up,

you'll see that there are two 3D cameras,

or I guess one 3D camera on the back.

So, essentially you can use this for some mini games,

but they actually do take stereoscopic 3D images.

Now, the 2DS XL also has that,

but instead of being on the screen,

they're actually on the back.

Yeah, that's what I said.

Weird, right?

Put them side by side and the biggest difference

that you'll notice between the 2DS XL

and 3DS XL is the lack of 3D screen.

So, with this guy you can turn on the 3D switch

and you can adjust it to the sort of strength

that you like.

And there were some cool things

that they did do with the 3DS XL,

including some eye tracking to sort of customize the screen.

As before with the 3DS if you got a little bit off axis

it could look really weird.

However, for me I just don't really enjoy the 3D.

It's kinda nice, a couple games do it well,

but for the most part that switch is off all the time.

Which essentially means it's the same as the 2DS.

So, this is the new Nintendo 2DS XL

and that new name means that

it has the upgraded specs from the 3DS.

So, while the original hardware came out in 2011,

they have since upgraded and it runs a lot smoother.

When you look at the XL side by side with the original 2DS,

there are a lot of very nice upgrades.

So, some of them are super obvious.

The screens are much larger on the newer unit.

But there are also some more subtle upgrades.

Like the original 2DS only had a fairly small

and weak speaker,

whereas the 2DS XL has dual front firing speakers,

or side-ish firing speakers.

I accidentally opened the camera,

so I guess that means camera time.

First thing I noticed is having the cameras on the back

means I have to really sort of twist it.

So if I try to take a shot of Savage Kenny here,

that's some potato quality.

Again, the angles are super weird.

You actually kind of have to...

So, you might not wanna take your next selfie masterpiece

on it, but for a lot the stuff like games need it for

AR stuff it works.

Of course, as a game console we have to play some games.

So, to start with we have Pokemon Sun.

The Pokemon games, I will be totally honest with you,

are a huge reason why I played the Game Boy, the DS,

and the 3DS, that's really what keeps me coming back

to Nintendo handhelds.

And Sun I think is, well, another one that I've spent

a lot of money on.

Yeah, I've bought a lot of Pokemon games.

It looks good, the screens on the 2DS are not great,

to be totally honest with you,

but it's about the same as every other 3DS,

so there's really not a whole lot to complain about.

Speaker also sounds decent, not great, but decent.

Next we have Super Smash.

This is a game that really impressed me that's even

playable on the 3DS.

Considering this is hardware that originally came out

in 2011, the fact that not only does it look nice

and it's playable, we're getting a full 60FPS is awesome.

Smash is also one of the few games that do support Amiibos.

So, with the 2DS what we're doing is we're actually putting

it in the middle of the screen,

but once we do that it pretty much immediately

loads up the Amiibo.

You can train it, you can do different things.

To be honest, I don't find that there's a ton of games

that really make Amiibos all that useful,

but it's definitely nice to have.

So, one thing I'm noticing the stylus actually

isn't quite as annoying as I thought it would be.

Yes, it is very, very short,

but depending on how you hold it,

it actually doesn't feel that bad.

Now, you do have the option of buying digital games

for the 2DS XL as opposed to buying physical ones,

so most of the titles are available on the eshop,

but generally speaking I'm not a big fan of the way

that Nintendo handles a lot of the account stuff.

And to be honest I prefer having the actual physical games.

What is cool, though,

is that you do have the full virtual console on here.

There aren't a ton of games,

but you do have a fair few options such as the original

Pokemon games, you have some NES titles,

some Super Nintendo games, Game Boy Color.

And there are still more coming,

for example Pokemon Gold and Silver will be available

on the 3DS a little bit later in the year.

So, Nintendo is still making both the 2DS as well as

the New 3DS XL right now.

So, which one should you pick up?

Well, if you wanna be cheap

and you want just a basic Pokemon machine,

it is hard to argue with the 2DS at about $80.

It is definitely not perfect,

it would be nice if it had better speakers

and the design that was a little bit more portable,

but I think a lot of people would

be completely fine with this.

The 3DS XL is definitely the superior console

as far as tech goes.

So, not only does it have all the updated specs,

but you have the additional buttons

and controls, Amiibo support,

and it does have that nicer looking 3D screen.

But for me, I don't ever use the 3D,

so that really is not a big deal.

Which makes the 2DS XL look a lot more appealing.

For $150 the 2DS XL is probably the end of the line

for the 3DS.

Now, that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Well, sure, it's about half the price of the Switch,

but more importantly there are still games

that are coming out for this.

So, stuff like Pokemon Ultra Sun

and Moon will be out a little bit later this year.

And as far as I'm concerned,

this is my favorite 3DS design yet.

So, what do you guys think about the 2DS XL?

Let me know in the comments below

and I will catch you on the next one.
