Hi I'm Mackenzie and this is our Wyoming Life

Coming up on our Wyoming life, Haying continues but the end is in sight, then we get some

new arrivals at the ranch and later the bulls go to work

Haying continues feels like I have been saying that for weeks now but in all reality I have.

Haying is a long process that includes hours upon hours in the tractor but now the end

is in sight. We have just completed cutting our last field,

a 170 acre behemoth that seems to go on forever. So far this year we have cut almost 500 acres

of hay and in a normal year that would make more than enough hay to feed our herd for

the winter but this year the hay has really been lacking and although we will get a few

tons off of our fields we will still end up bu ying hay from outside sources. The cows

have to eat and making some hay off our place is better than none and buying hay in a bad

year is an added expense that the ranch will have to absorb.

All that is left to do is finish baling this field, and then we truck the hay out of the

field and back to a hay yard, a holding area for bales until they are fed this winter.

Haying is far from over but making that last bale will make me feel a lot better. After

all our hay is stacked we will start getting semi loads of hay delivered to the ranch and

soon our hay hard will fill with bales and food for the winter.

Even though we are still haying plenty still needs to be done on the ranch, and one of

the events that's always a lot of fun and something that we look forward to is the arrival

of our new batch of piglets on the ranch. After getting their new home all fixed up

we pick up the piglets from our supplier that raises pigs in Nebraska. She delivers them

to us and we pick them up from her in a dog carrier and take them to their new home.

These pigs are ¾ Berkshire pigs, full bred Berkshire pigs are very rare and as of 2008

there were only 300 breeding sows known to exist. We will raise these piglets for about

6 months before they go to market and we sell the meat at farmers markets and to private

customers. Over the next 6 months they will gain a lot

of weight. Right now they weigh about 10lbs but in six months they will tip the scales

at around 300 lbs. That's a gain of about 50lbs per month or about a pound and a half

per day. They eat a lot to gain that weight, right

now they won't eat much but a pig will eat about 600 lbs. of feed between weaning and

market. They also drink a lot and an adult pig can

put away about 14 gallons of water per day. Our pigs get water on demand out of these

little spouts, all they have to do is bite down a bit on the nozzle and they get all

the water they want. Contrary to what you may have heard, Pigs

are also actually quite clean animals, they won't soil the area where they eat or sleep

and they are extremely intelligent, they are curious and insightful and studies have shown

them to be smarter than dogs and even some primates.

Pigs do squeal and they are loud, in fact a pig's squeal can be as loud as 115 decibels,

that's 3 decibels higher than the sound of a jet airliner, no wonder I'm deaf.

On other interesting thing about pigs is that they are associated with fertility and virility

in China and it's a common practice for statues of pigs to be displayed prominently

in the bedrooms of Chinese couples who are trying to have children.

So maybe I should get a little pig statue for our bulls, today is a big day for them.

Because today, they get turned out with the cows.

Breeding season starts now on the ranch, all the cows have had their calves in fact a lot

of those calves are starting to eat grass although they will continue to suck from their

moms until they leave the ranch in October. Breeding the cows now means that we will begin

calving next year in April and that seems to work for us. We have about 20 heifer cows

that we have had a bull in with for the last month and that will put them due in March

as a cow has roughly the same time pregnant as a human. 9 months.

The heifers or cows that have not had calf yet are separated off from the rest of the

herd and put in with a heifer bull, a one year old bull that is not too big as to injure

the smaller framed and younger cows. We breed them first, because heifers are notorious

for having problems during birth and we really want to be able to keep a close eye on them.

They will begin calving next March and because the cows won't calve until April they will

get a full month of my undivided attention. Another reason that we breed heifers a little

early is that it can take a heifer longer to breed back the following year, so they

will get more time before they are cows and have a full grown bull on their back, literally.

So with the heifers taken care of, it's time to put our herd bulls in with the cows.

This can be a tricky adventure. These bulls weigh up to 2000 lbs. each and they know what

time of year it is, they are ready to go to work and they can be a bit feisty about it.

The cows are located about 2 miles from the bulls so that means we are going to have to

get them in a trailer and take them to the cows. The first step is to get the trailer

hooked to the pickup; this trailer is 16 feet long and made of steel. We do have a bigger

trailer but its aluminum and a bull can kick right through the side, so it's safer to

take more trips and us a heavier trailer. We have 4 bulls to move today and once we

have the trailer backed up to the loading chute it's time to move them from the bull

pasture where they spend 9 months a year into progressively smaller and smaller corrals

until they are on the trailer. It takes two of us to do this, one in the

gator and the other on the four wheeler, We tend to let the gator be more aggressive with

moving the bulls as it offers just a little more protection for the driver and the four

wheeler gets to play more of a standby roll. More than 50% of deaths on ranches are caused

by bulls and moving them can make for a few very dangerous situations. As we move them

from pasture to corral, and finally to trailer their area gets smaller and smaller and their

stress level goes up and a stressed bull is never a good thing.

So we tend to take it very easy with the bulls, not pushing them too hard, and definitely

not getting them agitated. They tend to do that themselves and bull fights are very common,

bulls are territorial and as they get closer together the arguments and bound to happen.

As we move them up, we close the gates behind us, so they can't double around and eventually

we get them to the trailer, where the first two bulls are loaded up

and driven away. Arriving at the cows where they are released and told to get to work.

The other two load up as well and off they go. It's funny but the bulls know what time

of year it is and if we are patient and gentle with them, they tend to know the routine and

get on board really quick. After all, its date night!

97 degrees today and my air condition just died in the baling tractor, so after the bulls

and piglets, I'm back to baling. It never ends but it's a good thing, as long as I'm

able to get out and work, I'll do it. Someone asked me recently if ranching was

my passion, and I'd have to answer no. I never did have a lifelong dream of ranching

or farming but I think it's important to not let opportunities slip by and although

ranching never was my passion, I would consider it my purpose. I'm good at it and the ranch

needs me and filling that need means something that is useful to others.

True happiness comes from doing what we love, what we are good at and what the world needs

and you'll never find it focusing on ourselves but we do by helping and connecting with others.

Does Your Advisor Act In Your Best Interest? | Family Matters with Tony Layton - Duration: 6:37.

Do you know if your investments were recommended in your best interests in terms of risk and

sustainability, or if they were merely "suitable"?

Beyond your doctor, financial advisors should be among the professionals you trust the most

in life.

It's natural to assume your advisor is committed to act in your best interest.

However, I'm afraid to say that this isn't the case in many advisor-client relationships

– particularly when an advisor receives commissions or other sales-based remuneration.

My name is Tony Layton and on today in Family Matters, I cover a term you may have heard

- Fiduciary - and talk about something every investor should know about: client's best interest.

You may or may not have heard, but the Canadian investment industry is in the midst of a debate

over the extent to which advisors should be legally required to act in their clients'

best interests.

On one side many major players in the industry appear to be attempting to limit the law's

reach and would prefer to continue operating under something called a "suitability standard".

Under a suitability standard, a firm must have a reasonable basis to believe that a

recommended investment is suitable, given the client's investment objectives.

If this seems cryptic, well, that's because it is.

Here is an analogy to bring it home:

Your teenager may think what they are about to wear to school is suitable, but maybe you

don't agree.

On the other side of the debate is the push for what is called a fiduciary standard.

Under a fiduciary standard, a firm must put client's interests above its own, regardless

of its profit ambitions, and act strictly in the client's best interest.

This is a lot less cryptic and open to interpretation and requires a third party audit.

At present, only certain types of advisors operate under a fiduciary standard in Canada,

including Portfolio Managers, as designated by the Portfolio Management Association of

Canada, and, in Quebec only, Financial Planners, accredited by the Institute Québécois de

planification financière.

In the absence of a fiduciary requirement for all types of investment advisors, responsibly

minded firms, including my own, are obtaining independent accreditation as fiduciaries.

CEFEX-accredited firms adhere to the Global Fiduciary Standard of Excellence, which means

that they must act in the best interest of investors.

To obtain this accreditation, PWL was required to undergo an extensive "best interest"

review – and to maintain this status we must be verified through annual audits by

CEFEX.

Dealing with an advisor who operates under a fiduciary duty means that they:

have no conflicts of interest; will pursue investment strategies using products

that have only your best interests in mind; and

will place you only in investment products that are cost effective

...therefore maximizing the return on your capital investment.

There are actually many cases where investors find themselves paying an annual investment management

fee to their advisor on top of trailer fees and other sales-related charges.

Even if a fiduciary standard was imposed on the industry, independent certification like

CEFEX would continue to be valuable.

If all investment advisors were required to have a fiduciary duty to their clients, they

still might be limited in their ability to act in their clients' best interests because

they could be bound by their firm's product lines and sales practices.

Moreover, it might be difficult for a traditional stockbroker to shed the sales mentality under

a fiduciary regime.

Clients must ask their advisors some pointed questions about how they are paid.

The first thing to ask is: Are you compensated only by me, the client, based on a percentage

of assets under management?

The answer to this question should be yes.

If the answer is no, ask:

Do you earn commissions on trades, and/or trailer fees for mutual funds and annuities?

AND Are you in line to receive bonuses tied to

your firm's proprietary investment products, or to trading volume?

Such product-related fees are a sure bet an advisor cannot fully act in your best interest.

In order to maximize the return on your investment, you need an advisor who has a fiduciary duty,

and whose firm makes Clients Best Interest the cornerstone of its philosophy and operations.

Praise the Lord.

It is a joy to meet you once again through this episode.

In the last episode we saw about the elect of God – How would those who are elect by God be,

those who have those qualities could alone be called to be the elect of God and

if not, surely they are not the elect of God. These things we saw in Part I

and in Part II we saw that the elect of God is a controversial one because we ask, Am I not an elect?

The Bible speaks on whether you are chosen or not chosen.

Today we are going to see on what God has said in the Bible – Honour man.

He asks us to obey the government that rules over us.

In honouring man, He means have a brotherhood; love the brotherhood

and on yet another side He says, Fear God.

Today we are going to see about these four things;

if time permits we would see about each thing in the next episode also.

I Peter 2:13 says, Therefore submit yourself to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake

whether to the king as supreme or to governors as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evil doers.

If you read from 13th to 17th verses of I Peter 2nd chapter, finally the Lord says,

honour all people. Secondly, love the brotherhood; thirdly, fear God and fourthly, Honour King.

Today we will see about the first word Honour all.

Doesn't God know that this world is divided?

One group has accepted Jesus and another has not accepted Him;

so many denominations are there even in the group of people who are saved;

many worship God falsely. Doesn't the Lord know this? No, He knows everything.

But still the Lord says Honour all people. Of course you honour God.

Let it be on one side. Now God says, Give honour to man.

Psalm 118: 8 which is said to be the center verse in the Bible says, It is better to trust God than man.

Both these verses are not the same.

Here it is not said that we should not live without honouring God.

Rather it says that we should trust God.

Why does God say so? Let us see some basic theologies.

Genesis 1:26 says Then God said, Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;

let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle,

over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

The first reason why God wants us to respect man and

why He hates it when we criticize them unnecessarily or tell lies about them

is that when God created man, He created him in His image. Just think.

Whether it is any religion or any organization, they have a principle if I am into it

and have another principle if I am not into it.

For example, a fanatical religion has the principle to kill everyone.

So out of fear if I join this religion, it would say,

Now that you are with us, you need not be killed but only the outsiders.

The thing is, they have a principle within themselves and

if someone goes out of their organization, he would be treated differently. This is what the world teaches.

But God says, It is not a deal whether you accept Jesus Christ or not,

but whatever may be your quality, and whether you are a Christian or not,

you should honour all men, if you are a human being.

Yet another thing the Lord says is that we should not criticize anyone.

If you are a Christian you should not criticize and if you are a non Christian also you should not criticize.

You've become a Christian and have come into Me; so you can very well criticize others and judge them –

The Lord never says this in any place. Why I am telling you this is that God sees man as a vessel of honour.

I always used to think why it was so necessary for the God who created us to reveal Himself to us and love us.

He could have easily created us as a robot or as a creature that lives as it likes.

But he had no such idea. He is a wise God; the Lord of creations.

Since He is full of love for us, He created us with all respect and honour.

But what do we do? Until we accept Jesus and come into salvation, we live in sin.

However after getting saved, we take advantage and put others to shame.

We talk through You Tube, whatsapp, to friends and so on and

we always criticize about someone or some ministry, carry tales and try to spoil them.

But the Lord says, Don't do it. Don't ever do it because I have created everything in My image.

If any problem, you tell me directly and I will solve that problem.

So, the first point is, Honour man'. Don't slander or speak ill or hurt the heart of any man.

When I say man it refers to all types of relationships.

When I am a husband to my wife, if I honour my wife, it means that I respect her.

If I claim to love my wife but speak unwanted things about her, there is no respect.

Others would say that I am the worst character as I had been always scolding her.

Several months ago I saw a story in the whatsapp.

A taxi driver is driving his vehicle fast in the lane he had taken, without deviating from it.

There is a passenger in his car.

Suddenly a man darted in front of his vehicle from nowhere and came to a sudden halt.

Not knowing what to do, the driver somehow managed to scrape through the gap and escaped.

The man who came in the middle followed this driver and overtook him and

came so close to the taxi as if to hit against it.

So the driver stopped the car but the one, who was about to hit his taxi,

started scolding him and called him a fool.

He said, Don't you know how to drive the taxi properly. Do you know who I am?

He thus continued to shout at him.

The passenger in the taxi was observing all these and finally asked the driver,

The mistake is not with you. I have been watching everything.

It was he, who first came in the middle and again when you had managed to leave the place,

it is he who came after you, overtook you and is scolding you.

Why aren't you responding to him at all? Why are you smiling instead?

This driver replied, I don't know what his problem is.

I don't know from where he had collected all these garbage which he had stored in his heart.

Now he is dumping all these garbage on my car.

If I respond and take this garbage, either I will dump it on you or in my family or among my friends.

I am not ready to collect this garbage and I am not a garbage bin but a clean person.

The passenger was surprised and started viewing the driver with a different perception.

What do we learn from this parable like story?

Let others say whatever they want to tell about us.

Why they say so is that they have such content within themselves.

You must have seen some people using vain words the moment they begin to talk;

of course it is not their intention to hurt you or persecute you.

But they are very much into using certain hurtful words assuming that

they are just making fun of you or using those words playfully. We should not respond to it.

Whether they say such things consciously or not, do you know what happens when we respond?

It means that I carry those things with me and go around like the garbage lorry.

Man should be honoured.

However hard we are provoked, we should not yield to it but follow the word of God

and honour man telling ourselves, I am going to honour man, no matter what happens

since God has asked me to do so and I will not respond to their provocation and thus do this for the sake of God

This is what is honouring man, as meant by God.

Another thing is God came down for all men – not just a single man.

He doesn't say, I came to get this particular tribe; that man' and so on.

If so, we can tell that He is a selfish God.

But God gave us His Son and loved us to save every man.

Romans 13:1-7 says, Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities –

Everyone should obey and not grumble against all the authorities.

What do we do today? For example, if I have a boss who unnecessarily provokes me and gives me trouble, what do I do?

I don't see him as a boss but I begin to despise a man.

That man is my authority and boss. And I dishonour him. The Bible does not accept this.

The Bible says that we should compulsorily pay the taxes, give honour and don't go around telling,

I am a child of God; I am put to shame. He is going to curse you and so on.

If so it means that we do not carry the cross like Jesus did. Anybody can do it.

Anybody can curse someone when he/she hurts us, claiming that we are the children of God.

Then there is no need to proclaim Jesus; there is no need to be in Christ.

It cannot be said It is an emotional outburst because there is no room for emotions.

We should be patient and meek.. We should not talk anything and say, Oh, I was emotional and that's why I talked too much.

All things begin to happen when we try to live with more control.

This verse says, Every soul be subject to the governing authorities for there is no authority

except from God and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.

O.K Now if you go to God and say, Lord, my boss is not right. My authority harasses me,

He would say, Without my appointment no boss would rule over you.

If you despise what I have appointed it means that You are despising Me.

In that case, how to handle this because you have problem with this?

The Lord says, Love him; It is not a big deal when someone admonishes you when you do some mistake.

If he scolds you even without you doing any mistake, learn it

The Lord wants to prune us by taking us through certain situations.

He does not simply test and tempt us. When we are tested it means that we are going to go to the next level.

Whether it is gold or diamond or any precious material, only when it is tested, it would gain value.

Nobody would take gold without testing.

They would test and if it is Agmark BIS mark gold they would take it to a good jewellery shop

and it would be bought by a king or queen who would embed it on the crown or wear it over their heart.

Only a tested man can be so.

Today if God thus prunes or tests us, it means that I am qualified for the next level.

How does the Lord test us? He says, I am going to give you a boss; a job; if you face problem or affliction in your job,

don't grumble or slander but be patient because it is I who, have kept you there.

As you get shaped up, I will change him also. We should be a matured Christian.

Living as a Christian is not as important as being a matured one.

The word mature in dictionary means perfect. Many people claim to be perfectionists or well disciplined.

But they are not so. Only those who are matured would be perfect.

An immature person could also be perfect in his job but it is namesake perfection.

But what does the Bible say? If a man is perfect, he would be matured.

If a person is matured, he would handle everything correctly.

There wouldn't be a problem for him at any day. There wouldn't be any worry for him.

So let us honour man because all men are like us – created in the image of God.

Let us not criticize them. Supposing, a pastor or someone who does ministry is doing something wrong,

let us start praying for them. Or if someone talks about our ministry through You tube or whatsapp,

let us also pray for him. If someone talks about you today, pray for him/her also.

Only then we can live as a man, according to God's expectation.

Every word spoken by God is a revival for our spiritual life.

It is not a big deal to forgive someone who hurt us because we did something wrong.

I do good; but still he harasses me. But I forgive him This is important. It is here a change begins.

It is here spirituality begins. I don't know who gives the theory of going to heaven through easy ways.

I hear that there are so many messy doctrines in Christianity. All these are born of lusts and nothing else.

In the Bible everything is said correctly: You were a sinner; the loving Son came to save you;

He has saved you; from now on you have to live according to what He says . That's all.

How to live so? We should live as righteous people.

The Lord talks a lot about these things only I have made you an apostle; a prophet; this and that;

I love you; I'll come for you' and so on. Thus goes His words like a love poem.

For whom? Only for those who truly try to live as righteous people.

But on one side, we mark certain passages – like the four gospels or so.

We would take only these and leave everything else not knowing head or tail about it.

For example the Lord says, I am going to give you a lot; I will bless you and so on.

This alone would be focused on. The Bible says, Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.

Then all these things shall be added unto you. I hope you understand the difference.

So, coming to Christianity or following Christ is indeed a hard path

but when you have faith on God and learn to love one another, it means that we have started to pass through this path.

Recently I heard an uncle say like this, which appealed to me a lot. He gave a quote:

We have taken the first step in Christianity and we feel that we have taken the last step. This is the problem.

We assume that this is the last step. But it is not so.

If we have taken the first step in Jesus, gradually as we go into Him,

our life would change step by step and peace would abound in us;

there would be joy in us and because of our testimony other people too would come towards us.

Today, the world needs peace. How will this peace come?

Only when we love one another, peace and honour would be there.

This is what the Bible too teaches. If you have learnt to love all people, there would not be any problem.

When God created Adam and Eve, before sin or transgression entered into them,

there was a good marriage relationship between them.

I always say that it is the Holy marriage. Before sin could enter, marriage was there. Why do I say this?

When it comes to a husband and wife, only those who honour one another more and more,

adjust with one another and understand each other alone can abide in God forever. Do you know why?

They would have first started to honour their wife/husband.

Today you should live like this. Learn to give honour as God has said.

When you thus do so, you would change like the Lord God and everyone who sees you will make a covenant of peace with you.

Brother I want to be at peace with you; sister, I want to be at peace with you –

they would say because you would not betray anyone and they would be surprised to see that you are a good person.

Do you want to be like that? Shall we pray for a few minutes and commit our lives to the Lord?

Loving Lord, today when we read the verses O, Father, we understood a few things clearly O King.

We should learn to love all men in Christ O Father, and have a life of honouring them.

O Father we are not going to honour men and despise You, Lord.

Because we love God, O loving God, we are going to honour these men.

Father, as I give honour to men, let them say whatever they want but I am going to live in God,

according to what the Bible teaches. Help each one of us to live a life of honouring men O Father.

Thank You for doing that O King. Bless all the people who heard this message in this session O Lord.

Let peace, joy, godliness and divine love overflow from their lives Lord.

Let them not enter into a sinful life at any day but let them live by loving and honouring one another Lord.

Father, once again when we meditate on Your Word, give us the experience of growing in God O king.

Thank You for doing that O Father. Bless every son/daughter who hears this.

I commit their life into Your presence O Father. Thank You for doing that.

All glory and honour be to our Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ, who has redeemed us and

we pray this in the name of our Lord our living Father. Amen.
