Waching daily Jul 9 2017

I live on Vancouver Island on the west coast of Canada.

In the early '90s, a kid was abducted from a park in my neighbourhood, and it quickly

became a very high-profile case, and it still is today.

I was around 3 years old when this happened, and my dad would have been 25-ish, only a

few years into his career as a police officer.

The missing kid part will come into play later, but it's important to know this was going

on when the events of this story happened.

My dad and his partner were on patrol one night, and they had a camera guy with them

who was on a ride-along to film some shitty Canadian version of "COPS" or something.

I don't think this ever actually aired, for reasons that will become obvious.

It was unusual to allow someone along with a camera, and nowadays this would probably

never happen.

It was an otherwise quiet night, and as they were driving around my dad spots this work

van that belonged to a guy named Peter Hogben.

My dad had pulled Hogben over before several times, the most recent being a few days prior

because Hogben's insurance was expired.

At that time, Hogben had a dead chicken hanging from his rearview mirror, which was weird

and very creepy, but not illegal.

My dad let him off with a warning, and told Hogben to get insurance or the next time he

saw him, the van would be getting towed.

So, my dad and his partner see this van and my dad gets dispatch to run it, and it comes

back still without insurance, so they throw on the lights and pull Hogben over.

Meanwhile, the camera man is still filming all of this.

They get out of the car, and Hogben is PISSED.

He's yelling, eyes bugging out of his head, getting in my dad and his partner's space,

probably veins bulging out of his neck, all of that.

My dad explains that since he has no insurance, they were towing his vehicle.

My dad said he remembers thinking Hogben was going to attack them, so they both had their

hands on their holsters in case they needed to draw.

Police shootings here are extremely rare, and in the '90's even more so, so the fact

that they even felt it necessary to be ready to draw their sidearms shows how intense the

situation was.

While Hogben didn't end up attacking either my dad, his partner, or the camera man, he

did end up going full Hulk on the dash of his van, basically ripping it apart with his

bare hands and losing his entire mind.

These days, he'd probably be taken into custody based on that, but again this was the early

'90s, so while crazy and scary, not illegal.

He shitkicked his own car for a bit, tore out parts of the dashboard, and then preternaturally

just calmed the fuck down, and then asked if he could get his tools from the back of

his van as he was a construction worker and needed them for his job the next day.

My dad and his partner said he could, so he grabbed an axe, and his tool belt, which included

a hammer and some other stuff, and off he walked into the night.

As he walked away, my dad's partner said: "Jesus, he looks mad enough to kill someone."

The entire incident was caught on camera by their ride-along camera guy.

They towed Hogben's van, and their night went on as usual, which is to say nobody lost their

shit and destroyed the dash of their own vehicles.

The next night was their second night shift.

They went to briefing, which is like a meeting before you begin your shift so that you know

if you need to look out for anything specifically, or if you need to do curfew checks on people

who are under conditions after being released from jail and that kind of thing.

When they get there, they hear the news that a woman was beaten to death the night prior

and found in the early morning, and that if they have anyone they suspect or any files

they think are related, they should let their Sergeant know so he can pass it onto detectives.

My dad said he and his partner just looked at each other and raised their hands to say

"I think we know who did this."

Hogben was arrested very quickly after.

Turns out, he was in fact pissed enough to kill someone.

He initially followed another woman but she managed to get into her house without Hogben

actually doing anything to her aside from scaring the shit out of her by stalking her.

The woman he did kill was completely random.

He beat her to death with the blunt end of his axe, where her blood and DNA were found.

The evidence that convicted him was overwhelming.

Okay so.. here's the part where the missing kid comes into play.

The FBI's behavioural unit was here to assist on creating a profile on who may have abducted

the kid.

They caught wind of the Hogben file, and that the entire incident preceding the murder where

Hogben was pulled over was caught on tape.

They immediately demanded to see the tape, and when they did they explained that it is

extremely rare to capture the moment when a psychopath "snaps" and decides to kill someone

on video, and that they wanted to take the video back to Quantico for training purposes,

so they can show recruits what it looks like when someone makes that decision.

So, my dad and his partner are in a video used for training in the FBI.

My dad has said he thinks his former partner carries a lot of guilt for this case, because

of the remark he made about Hogben being angry enough to kill someone.

I'm of the opinion it wasn't anybody's fault, and since that happened people are able to

be arrested for that kind of behaviour.

They were also both still rookie cops, and within that situation they did everything

"right" in a by-the-book sense.

They did not have grounds to arrest Hogben then.

But I understand why he'd feel so fucked up about it.

In case you're wondering what happened with the missing kid, he's still missing.

The FBI Unit couldn't reach a full consensus on whether a family member or a stranger abducted

him.

The kid's name is Michael Dunahee, and if you're from Canada you've likely heard of

him.

He became the cautionary tale our parents told us about talking to strangers.

His absence permeated the childhood of my friends and I, to the point where we once

found some deer bones and were convinced we found Michael's remains.

My mom has been a police officer for two years and she was recently put on FTO for the patrol

division a few months ago.

For those of you that don't know what FTO is, it stands for Field Training Officer.

Essentially when a cop switches from one team to another, they are paired with an FTO who

teaches them all about how to do their job in the new division.

My mom moved from working in the jail to working on the patrol team.

Now what a lot of people don't realize is that patrol is an extremely dangerous division

to be a part of.

On patrol, a cop is out there by themselves with no idea of what they might face.

In my mom's case she had one other person with her, which is a little safer, but not

much.

On patrol a backup car could be miles away which puts the officer in an extremely dangerous

and vulnerable position should anything bad happen on the road.

What you should know is that the county I live in is known for being one of the safest,

most cop-friendly counties in the US.

You would think that that gave my mom and her FTO some kind of advantage over the bad

guys… you would think.

On September 2nd my mom and her FTO received a call that there was a suicidal man with

a gun who was holing up in his house.

They raced over to the scene and parked the car several yards from the house as was customary

of arriving on any scene.

This guy lived in a semi rural part of town where houses were spread a little apart.

This rural-ish neighborhood backs up to a middle and elementary school on one side,

there is also a hospital and a daycare just behind the schools, which will be important

later.

Anyway, my mom and her training officer exit the car and begin to approach the house to

contact this armed suicidal man.

The two stop dead in their tracks when they hear a gunshot being fired off, right at them.

My mom and her FTO scramble to get behind the doors of the patrol car and frantically

radio for back-up.

My mom's FTO quickly pulls out his rifle for better defense.

Several other cars rush to the scene just as the guy charges out of the house firing

shots off at random.

BANG!

One shot!

Seconds later several more are fired off in the direction of the officers.

They begin firing just as a strange sound grabs everyone's attention: a school bell.

Shit!

School just ended for about a thousand middle school students who would soon be gathering

in busses, cars, and worst yet, walking home.

The suspect heard the school bell too and quickly rushed into his RV, driving off in

the direction of the school.

All the while this asshole is firing off shots at the officers.

As officers chase off after him, attempting to cut him off, shoot out his tires, anything!,

a haunting call comes over the radio.

"Officer down!

Officer down!"

someone cries out.

Everyone at the call had no time to lose, they had to keep going and chase down the

perp.

They had to make sure he didn't get the chance to get to those middle school students.

People were frantic, asking questions and looking for answers which no one knew "Holy

shit!

Who's hit?

Are they alive?

Did anyone else get hit?"

Suddenly someone cried out that it was my mom who got hit.

Within minutes, I got dozens of texts asking if I knew what was going on, if I was okay,

and some just informing me that my mom was shot.

At the time I was at work with no knowledge that any of this was happening.

I stepped into the hall after receiving multiple text messages.

I fell to my knees.

My mom was shot.

She was dead or dying.

I could feel myself break.

This fucker killed my mom.

Moments later everyone got word that the threat had been eliminated.

One of the officers shot the guy through the window of his RV just as he entered the hospital

parking lot.

There was still no word of what was happening to my mom.

I was panicking.

She's dead.

I thought.

She's dead.

Suddenly, I felt my phone buzz once again.

I checked it with tears in my eyes.

It read.

"Hey I don't know what you heard, but I'm okay.

I wasn't the one that got shot."

My heart fell, but this time in relief.

What had happened was that one of my mom's former co-workers in the jail had been listening

in on the shooting situation and had heard that my mom was first on scene and then later

heard that someone was shot.

In his shock, he put two and two together and assumed that the one that was shot was

my mom.

However, a swat deputy who arrived with the impact team had attempted to eliminate the

threat and keep him away from the middle school students.

The suspect brutally shot the swat deputy point blank in the chest with an AK-47 round.

The deputy was rushed off to the hospital.

He was dead when they got him off the ground and into the ambulance.

Using electric shock therapy they brought him back to life.

Moments later, his heart stopped again.

At the hospital they shocked him again for several minutes before he came back to life.

After being rushed into emergency trauma surgery, his heart stopped again.

At this point the doctor literally held his heart in his hands and was squeezing his heart

by hand to get it to begin beating again.

After several surgeries, the deputy survived.

He lost a lot of blood, brain cells, and body control.

But he is alive to this day, thankfully.

I still can hardly believe that something this traumatic happened in my quiet, safe

town.

But I'm so glad they took that fucker out and I'm so glad all the officers are still

alive today.

Got a report of a missing husband.

He told his wife and family of 6 children that he was going to get his tires changed,

but never returned, and this was 12 hours ago.

They had purchased another house in a neighboring community, and the relationship with the wife

was under pressure, so the wife assumed he was staying at the other house.

The strange thing about this report though was that he emptied his personal bank account

into his wife's this morning as well.

The wife explained this off saying that they recently had a fight about finances, and he

agreed that he was bad with money and maybe they should just have a joint account that

she controls.

On a hunch, I asked his 14 year old boy if there were any areas in the mountains nearby

that his father enjoyed going, and the son identified a road about 10 miles away.

It was nearing midnight, but I decided to drive to the top of this old and abandoned

forest service road.

As I drove through the snow and started to climb the road, I felt a gut feeling that

I would 100% find this guy up there either thinking about suicide, or already committing

suicide.

The snow-laid gravel road had some sign of travel, but no real indication of how fresh

the vehicle tracks could be.

As I reached the top of the road after an hour of travel I was honestly surprised that

I did not find his black truck.

I spent the drive back down thinking about "gut-feelings" and how they are unreliable,

but that I somehow felt different about this one.

As I traveled up the road, I did notice over a dozen smaller roads branching off, but they

were not mapped, and I had already spent too much time on a single occurrence in a busy

city with too few police officers.

Nonetheless, I decided to check a single of these secondary roads, and about 3/4's of

the way down I picked a road at random to check, and sure enough my headlights lit up

the back end of a black truck about 100 yards past the first corner.

Even if I hadn't memorized the licence plate beforehand, I wouldn't have had to run it

- it was clearly his.

I radioed that I had found the truck, parked my vehicle, and traveled the 20 feet to his

truck with my heart beating like I was doing it at a sprint rather than a normal walk.

What I found inside was a mess of brains and blood caused by a self-inflicted shotgun wound

under the chin.

I'll save you from the description.

There was just something about that gut-feeling while traveling this abandoned and quiet mountain

road, followed by a sense of being tricked by the gut-feeling, then finding out it was

true by discovering such a gruesome scene, having to wait 3 hours next to his truck waiting

for body removal, and then to end it all by having to go to the family who was expecting

good news to deliver to them the worst news possible, that makes me feel creeped out to

this day.

Hey everyone, hope you enjoyed the video.

So, i'm sure many of you are confused as to where i've been, and rightfully so.

I don't think that the end of a video is a good place to even begin explaining, and many

people aren't here for that, so here's the plan

After the release of this video, i'm going to try to put 1 or 2 more videos out on time,

before doing a livestream where I will be transparently adressing a

lot of things, explaining where I was, and what's happening best I can.

That way I can focus on getting the ball rolling on videos again, and afterwards just sit,

be open and talk to you guys if i'm able.

So, like I said, that's the plan, and I didn't want to take too much time at the end of this

video.

To make sure you don't miss the livestream if you're interested,

please press the bell icon near the subscribe button so that you're notified.

That will also notify you instanly every time I upload.

If you don't want to do that, I usually notify everyone via Twitter and Snapchat a day or

two before I do livestreams.

If you can, I recomend you following me on social media.

That way if you're wondering where I am or something, you can just check Twitter and

be like "oh, hey, he's alive, that's pretty cool."

, or maybe you genuinely like me or something, but let's not get carried away.

We also joke around sometimes, as you can see by this picture.

Or on Snapchat you can hear me lose my mind or post incoherent ramblings to my story that

I usually regret in the morning . Pretty sure someone uploaded a video of

screaming to YouTube.

Ahh, yep, here it is.

"Corpse Husband Screaming on Snapchat" , wow, bless you guys

Anyways, thanks for watching, I appreciate everyone who's watching this for sticking

around and have an awesome day

What is the IELTS test? - All about the IELTS English test - Duration: 27:27.

okay here's the IELTS test this is courtesy of IELTS.org there are two

types of IELTS tests you can choose from IELTS academic or IELTS general training

so there are two types of IELTS tests the IELTS academic is for people

planning to study in higher education or seeking professional registration it

assesses whether you are ready to begin studying or training in an environment

where English is the language used so a good example would be the UK where

English is widely spoken the IELTS academic doesn't assume that test takers

have already mastered or even partly have the range of skills they are likely

to need at college or university so you could look at it as a sort of assessment

it is assessing your level of English for this reason while the test reflects

some of the features of academic language it does not aim to simulate

academic study tasks in their entirety so in other words it is just a guide it

is a guide as to how well you can speak English so the IELTS academic is for

people who wish to study in another country then we have the IELTS general

training IELTS general training focuses on basic survival skills I love that

word so much survival skills so when we talk about IELTS in in general we are

talking about survival English day-to-day English in a social

environment or of course in the workplace it is typically for those who

are going to english-speaking countries to do secondary education work work

experience of course or training programs

people migrating to Australia Canada New Zealand and the UK must take the general

training test that's very important to mention again the fact that you must

take the test if you are planning to live in those countries work or study so

in Australia Canada New Zealand and of course the UK and don't forget the IELTS

is also accepted now in the United States as well so what about the actual

test itself well just to make things more difficult there are many parts to

the actual test you have listening academic reading general training

academic writing general training writing and speaking everyone hates the

speaking part so let's have a look at the listening first of all the listening

part of the IELTS test takes around about 30 minutes and the test consists

of four recorded monologues and conversations a monologue is a person

talking on their own so you will listen to one person talking and then

afterwards you will listen to a conversation the listening test is the

same for both academic and general training tests so in other words the

listening is pretty much the same so in the listening test you will normally

listen to something being said so what they want to do is to check how well you

can listen so you will listen to somebody speaking on their own or in a

conversation and you will be asked questions about it

academic reading well that's pretty self-explanatory you are going to be

reading a variety of questions is used chosen

from the following types you have multiple choice so you'll be asked a

question and the right answer will be contained within a list of answers so in

other words multiple choice means there is a correct answer hidden within the

choices you are given identifying information you have to identify a

writer's views or claims so you will read something and then from that you

will have to say what the writer was trying to put across now we look at

things like matching information and matching headings matching features

matching sentence endings so you have to match things up you will be asked to

refer to part of what you have read sentence completion of course you will

be given sentences to complete so you'll get part of a sentence with maybe one or

two words missing and you will have to fill the gaps or complete the sentence

summary completion summary completion means to summarize something that you

have read note completion again it's fairly self-explanatory table completion

you will look at a list of things written in the form of a table and you

may have to fill in the spaces that have been left for people that are looking

for something or business like they need also to know how to decipher a flowchart

so you might be asked to complete a flowchart to show

the change or advance of something then there is diagram label completion so you

might have something that is shown to you in the form of a diagram or a

picture and you must complete the labels you must in other words

write down and also read and write down what you see and of course short answer

questions they are my favorite because I hate giving longer answers I only like

short answers to questions but that doesn't mean that you can only only

answer yes or no you can't just say yes or no you still have to give an answer

using words but the answering question will be just a short one okay we move on

to general training reading this takes place over 60 minutes a variety of

questions are used chosen from the following types again very similar to

the academic reading you have multiple choice you have to identify information

identifying the writers views and claims very similar actually to the reading one

so general training is slightly more varied as the word general sort of

indicates there so the questions will be varied but again you will have a similar

similar sort of requirement which will be to answer questions and also match

information and also complete a summary this

is very complicated you are probably already thinking mr. Duncan there is no

way I can do this don't worry the overall test takes around 2 hours 45

minutes so don't worry you have quite a lot of time an hour is actually quite a

long time when you think about it another one now if you are not good at

writing if you need to improve your grammar then maybe this one will be the

part that you need to brush up academic writing the duration is 60 minutes it

has two writing tasks of 150 words and 250 words in task 1 candidates are asked

to describe some visual information may be a graph a table chart or a diagram

and to present the description in their own words in the form of writing of

course they need to write 150 words in about 20 minutes

that is not too difficult you could easily write 500 words in 20 minutes so

so I think that that is very generous so 20 minutes to write 150 words that's

okay that's not too bad just take it easy and don't panic in task 2 the

candidates are presented with a point of view or argument or problem they need to

write 250 words in about 40 minutes again that's very generous so 250 words

yeah I think we can do that so what you are doing there really is giving your

own version of something in writing I think that simplest way of putting it

once again a general part of the test this time general training writing

once again we've got 60 minutes and once again you have a task of 150 words and

250 words in task number one the candidates are asked to respond to a

situation by writing a letter for example requesting information so maybe

you are writing to someone to ask for information or of course explaining a

situation this is the part of the IELTS test that everybody hates so much in

fact if there is one thing that I receive questions about more than any

other it must be speaking in the IELTS test or the TOEFL or the Terek test

these are these are really really really difficult things to do for some people

speaking out loud possibly the hardest part of learning any language

it's alright writing things down mr. Duncan I can write very easily it's no

problem but when it comes to speaking I have a lot of problems so in the

speaking test you have 11 to 14 minutes so between 11

and 14 minutes in the speaking test you have a discussion with a certified

examiner so in other words a person will sit down with you and they will talk it

sounds lovely doesn't it it is interactive and as close to a real life

situation as a test can get so it really is putting you on the sharp end so to

speak there are three parts to the test and each part fulfills a specific

function in terms of interaction or interaction

pattern task input and candidate output

but simply it is how you speak in a general conversation what you say to

them and what they say to you in part one you answer questions about yourself

and your family now that should be okay I'm sure many of you will be alright

with that one where do you live who is in your family do you have any pets

questions like that in part two you speak about a topic now what's

interesting here is I think the topic is suggested to you I've heard some people

say that they had to bring some preparation for a topic while others had

to just speak about a topic that they were given so forgive me there if I seem

a bit doubtful as to what that actually is but as far as I'm aware certainly

from from hearing from students is that the topic is given to you but please

don't quote me on that in part 3 you have a longer discussion on the topic so

you have a chance first of all to speak about the topic and then in part 3 you

will have to discuss possibly in the form of questions and answers of course

between tests that might vary so sometimes that might happen and

sometimes it might not so be prepared and remember the speaking test is the

same for both academic and general training tests each of the three parts

are designed to test a different aspect of your communication ability but simply

they want to know if you can talk they want to know if you can explain things

and they want to know if you can understand what is being asked so the

speaking part is one of the shortest parts of the test but for most people

taking the IELTS it is the worst part of the test so please don't forget that the

speaking test for many people is probably the hardest or the most

daunting of all if you want to find out more about the International English

Language Testing system or as they like to call it

IELTS you can check out all the information including the information

I'm giving you today as I alts dot-org

the test itself is now accepted in many countries it's worth noting that it's

accepted in Britain of course also in Australia Canada and it's worth

mentioning also that there are now 3,000 apparently 3,000 universities now except

except in their United States which I was very surprised that seems to have

changed a lot over the last two or three years when I say universities I actually

mean academic institutions so it can be sort of anything that

some sort of teaching and learning program the IELTS score I will very

briefly go through these so we have at the bottom zero I don't think many

people ever get zero I don't think people ever score zero on their IELTS

test I would be very surprised if they did let's have a look so there is did

not attempt the test at all

would you really turn up for an exam and not take the test I don't know any

anybody that would do that unless they worker value Z then we have grade or

band one which is non-user essentially has no ability to use the

language beyond possibly a few isolated words that sounds like me with my

Chinese when I lived in China I was I was kind of I was probably a band born

Chinese speaker and then there's two band - intermittent user again this

isn't good this isn't perfect if you get banned - no real communication is

possible except for the most basic information using isolated words or

short formulae in familiar situations and to meet immediate needs in other

words very basic maybe hello goodbye or there or here up or down not much else

then we have and three conveys and understands only general meaning

in very familiar situations again very similarly to ban to you kind of sort of

struggling I think struggling would be a good word yes you're definitely

struggling if you're in bands three you definitely struggle with your English

I think that's safe to say okay bang for limited user again not great basic

competence is limited to familiar situations again things that are basic

and very simple to explain this person has frequent problems in understanding

and expression so they won't be able to understand most of what is said to them

again not a great score then we have band five this is where things start to

look a little bit a little bit better they start to look a little more

positive let's just say so a modest user has partial command of the language

coping with the overall meaning of most words in situations it is likely that

they will make many mistakes as they are speaking but they should be able to

handle basic communication in their own field so things that they are very

familiar with a person in band five should be able to deal with quite easily

now we come to the best part this is this is where things get a little bit

more positive if you are now sitting in band six well

aren't you the lucky one band six means you are a competent user this means that

you have generally effective command of the language despite some inaccuracies

but you can use the language to a degree you are competent I love that word

competent if you ever hear someone say to you you are very competent that is a

great word to have used towards you that means you are able to do it you have an

ability you're not great at it you're not excellent but you are

competent and don't forget grade six or band six is normally the lowest you can

get for entry into most universities or or even with employers so so six is the

minimum that you are aiming for there we go - Ben

seven - band seven oh my gosh oh well if you get a score of seven in

your IELTS aren't you aren't you a clever clogs band seven means that you

are a good you you a good user and use chip to my water then excuse me you are

a good user this person has operational command of the language though with

occasional inaccuracies so sometimes you might make mistakes so a good user can

speak English but they will still make the occasional mistake generally

speaking a person in band 7 will handle complex languages

and situations well so if your English level is seven

you can handle complex language very well

and of course you will be able to understand detailed reasoning which I

will come on to in a moment I will I will talk about that in a moment about

using what we like to call cognitive English which means thinking so we now

have band 8 oh my goodness if you are in band 8 well

need i say more you are a very good user this person has fully operational

command of the language with only occasional mistakes and systematic I

love that word it's thought you're complex though so

I'm just going to say they can use English well there will of course still

be the occasional misunderstanding especially in unfamiliar situations but

generally generally that person will handle complex detailed argumentation

very well and we come to and 9 if you get band 9 in your English IELTS test

then you can probably come and do my job and I can go on holiday so if you are in

band 9 you have full operational command of the language appropriate accurate and

fluent with complete understanding I think that sums it up pretty well

need i say more

going back to the minimal band that you can score it's six so the minimum that

you can get without being asked to leave is six so anything about six is fine no

problem so if you are a competent user a good user a very good user expert user

you will do quite well so you are aiming to score at least six or seven in your

IELTS test let me just go back to something ours talking about just now

when you are testes in your English speaking skills and writing skills

one of the things that you also need to get used to is thinking in English it

might sound strange but you do need to have a good level of English in your

brain

you

How to lengthen sleeves - Sleeve alterations //Remakes - Duration: 2:51.

How to lengthen sleeves

Get a piece of fabric identical or close to your main fabric. My top was longer than i wanted, so i cut extra fabric from there

Measure to your desired length and cut off the extra

Take that extra fabric, and place it at the sleeve's hem, to get the shape

Mark and cut

Use that cut out, to cut the other side of the sleeve

Now stitch with a straight line

Turn it, then join to the main sleeve

Match the seams together

Now join with pins(optional) and stitch all round

All done!

**Try to match the stripes**

You can make the sleeve more fitted if you wish

I am now hemming the bottom that i had cut out

Final outcome))
