Hi there guys and welcome to this new video.
Today we want to take you to Mantua, a wonderful city in Lombardia,
which is just a couple of hours drive from Milan, two and a half if you arrive from Como.
Mantua can be reached by bus, train (either with TreNord or Trenitalia) or by car as we did.
If you decide to do the same, we suggest you to leave your car at Campo Canoa's free car park,
from where you can take a convenient shuttle to the city
or from where you can walk to the center through Ponte San Giorgio.
From the car park you will cut through a park. Once you reached the banks of the Mincio just stop and enjoy a breathtaking view over the city.
Mantua is a perfect city to walk around,
lazing across the squares, admiring the façades of its famous buildings and enjoying the green of its parks.
Since July 2008, the city has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List,
thanks to the legacy of the Italian Renaissance left by the Gonzagas.
In the name of this historical and artistic wealth,
Mantua has also been awarded the title of Italian Capital of Culture for the year 2016.
Among the best environments of the city there are, with no doubt:
The Ducal Palace, which looks almost like a city in the city,
given its size and the number of rooms that can be visited, including the famous Camera Degli Sposi;
The clock tower which houses inside the museum of time
collecting objects and gears that over the years have been replaced from the clock itself
and offers, from its top, a breathtaking panorama that opens onto the city;
in this regard remember to close the windows,
every time you finish enjoying the view,
as you are told at the entrance,
since it is an important thing to safeguard the interior of the tower itself
The house of the painter Andrea Mantegna,
a square red brick building with a central cylindrical courtyard
that opens directly onto the sky
and from which you can take really special pictures by playing with the geometry of the building itself.
After this brief introduction we just leave you to the clips we shot.
See you at the end of the video for our tips... gastronomic ones, don't miss them!
Since we wanted to make the most of the sunny day,
we thought to have a quick lunch
and just crossed the San Giorgio bridge
we came across this amazing place which is called Pane al Pane.
You have to know that when we travel or have a day trip like this,
one of our passions is to taste the local food.
We usually do not stop in restaurants during the day, we prefer some take away,
and since we have this weakness for all sort of bready things, both sweet and salty,
when we passed across this place we couldn't help to stop there.
We tasted the "schiacciata", which is a kind of thin and dry focaccia
and the mythical "sbrisolona", very tasty
but with something like 35 degrees in the shade has turned out to be an almost mystical experience. Better in winter!
In the afternoon we took a break in Broletto Square at the Gelateria Loggetta.
Do not be fooled by the fact that the different flavors of ice cream are covered and not exposed.
Even if you can not see them,
you can ask small tastes and be sure they are really crazy!
There are also many vegan and sugarfree options, so perfect for everyone.
Well, now that we made you hungry
we remind you to take a look at the infobox where you will find the link to the website of the city of Mantua,
the link to the transport website,
the links to the listed parking lots available, free and not,
the downloadable city map
and our excel file where we put the links of Pane al Pane and Gelateria Loggetta, that we mentioned before.
Just for it we deserve a like!
