- You wanna know what's the number one thing
that holds back my students and my clients
when it comes to setting up their YouTube channel?
  It's their channel trailer.
This is the video people will see
when they land on your channel
  if they aren't subscribed yet.
And most people are going to subscribe to your channel
  from that homepage,
so it's really important to have a channel trailer
  that gets people to subscribe.
So how do you do this?
In today's video, I'm gonna break down what you should say
  in your channel trailer
so you can ensure people are subscribing to your channel.
Hey guys my name is Trena,
and welcome back to another episode of Just The Tips.
Here on my channel I help lady business owners
figure out this crazy online world
so that they can have more time to do the things they love.
And by setting up a channel trailer on your YouTube channel,
not only is it a great video
to get people to subscribe to your channel,
but it's also a great video to embed on your About page
to let people who find your website
  learn more about you too.
So let's jump in to how you can craft a channel trailer
to get people to love you.
A lot of people overthink this channel trailer
and think it needs to be some overproduced amazing video.
  But the reality is,
this channel trailer should only be about 30 seconds,
  60 seconds max.
Unfortunately, if someone's finding your channel
  and watching your channel trailer,
they don't know anything about you
so they really don't give a crap about you.
What they care about, is what can you do for them?
What value are you going to give them
if they decide to watch your videos?
So you can't talk about yourself for five minutes,
it's gotta be really succinct, really clear,
and have a strong call to action
  to subscribe to your channel.
So the first thing you need to do in this channel trailer
  is obviously introduce yourself.
You don't bring somebody into your home for the first time
and not say who you are.
So tell them who you are.
And then tell them the value you bring to them.
So my value I'm bringing to you is I help you figure out
the online business world so you can have more time
to do the things you love.
So you're not digging through all of this information
and not knowing where to start,
  I'm breaking it all down
in easy to follow tips here on my channel
so you've got more time to spend with your kids,
or take a walk, or whatever it is you love to do.
You need to tell people to subscribe, right?
  You need to say,
"Subscribe to this channel so that you can XYZ,
"so that you can learn YouTube for your business,
"so that you can learn how to knit your favorite beanie."
Whatever it is, the niche of your channel,
let them know why they need to subscribe real quick.
  And it's probably important
to throw in there when you upload,
so they know when to come back for new content.
So for me, I'm uploading every Tuesday and Thursday,
  plus there's a bonus day.
And so when I create my new channel trailer,
I'm gonna make sure to incorporate my scheduling.
So when I do my new channel trailer,
I'm gonna make sure that I include
  my upload schedule as well.
So now I got a couple bonus tips for you
when it comes to creating a channel trailer.
Script it, write down what you wanna say.
Get all your ideas down on paper.
It only needs to be 30 seconds,
so there shouldn't be a lot of words,
so it's not a lot to memorize.
But script it out so you can really get those ideas down
  so it flows well.
And also think about any B-roll footage you could use.
Do you have some B-roll of a vlog that you did?
Or maybe of your Facebook group,
or what kind of B-roll can you throw in there
  to really keep people engaged?
Next you wanna show your personality,
so don't just sit there and give them your gist like this.
People are gonna be like, "Who is she?
  "Why am I watching her?"
  Show your personality.
Don't be afraid to talk with your hands
and talk and scream and be you,
because you're gonna attract the people
  that wanna work with you.
Don't be afraid to share your personality.
Next name your video something other than "Channel trailer,"
so you could name it, "Get to know Trena,"
  or "Fun facts about Trena,"
or "Here's everything you need to know about Trena,"
title it something that makes people wanna click on it.
Just a channel trailer is like, blah.
Then you wanna fill out that description box
  of that video too.
Maybe you post in that description box to subscribe
and put in your like little subscriber link,
or you reiterate your posting schedule.
Or you talk to your audience there,
give your value proposition on why they should subscribe.
So if they don't watch the video, they can read it as well.
And the next bonus tip is to turn off
  monetization for this video.
The last thing you want people doing
is abandoning your video because of some ad.
So make sure you turn off monetization
  for your channel trailer.
My question of the day for you is more of a challenge,
  go make your channel trailer
and let me know down in the comments below
if you're gonna do that today or even this week.
I would love to check out your channel trailer
and let you know what I think.
If you guys like these tips,
make sure you give this video a thumbs up.
If you wanna learn how to find more time in your business
to do the things you love,
  make sure you click Subscribe
and I will see you in the next video, bye!
