In this Gimp Workshop we are going to transform
a soft color photo into a soft color pencil drawing.
If you want to follow along, you can find the download link in the video description
Right click on the image folder and click on open with.
Now click on Gimp.
When our image is open, we go to the top right corner,
and click on the zoom icon to maximize it in the window.
Make two duplicates by clicking two times on the button at the bottom of the layerspanel.
Go to the menu bar, click on filters, distorts and emboss.
We will apply the default settings as they are,
so we just click on the okay button.
Make the mode of this layer dodge.
Select the middle layer
Now we go to colors, and here we hit curves.
We can adjust the image to our liking, as shown in the video.
When we click on reset, we can reset what we have done, and start anew.
Click the preview of, and on to see the effect.
When we feel it is okay, we click okay.
In the next step we will add a paper texture.
Select the top layer, so when we open the paper texture,
it will open on top of the layers stack.
Go to file, open as layers,
and open the paper texture.
The yellow lines indicate that this image is bigger then the image of the girl,
so we can leave it as it is.
Now go to the mode, and change it to multiply.
Press and hold the shift key down,
and click on the eye of the bottom layer,
to see the difference between the edited and the original photo.
And that is it, an easy and quick way to change a color photo,
into a beautiful soft color pencil drawing.
