South Korean skiers and ski coaches are now in North Korea.... for a two-day joint training

session with North Korean skiers.

The two Koreas had agreed on the joint ski training..... as part of a series of events

ahead of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

And before we sit down with an expert to talk about this... our Ji Myung-kil tells us more

about the joint ski training program.

Some thirty-one skiers from South Korea are at North Korea's Masikryong Ski Resort on

Wednesday.

The group of non-Olympic skiers and ski coaches took a chartered flight to the North's Kalma

Airport, some 45 minutes away from the resort.

On the first day the skiers will do free skiing,... getting used to the slopes of the Masikryong

Ski Resort and having friendly races with the North Korean skiers.

On the second day... the South and North skiers will hold joint training sessions.

North Korean skiers who will be taking part in PyeongChang 2018 will also be participating

in the training session.

Once the joint training session ends on Thursday,...

South Korean skiers plan to fly back to South Korea, with the North Korean athletes accompanying

them.

Prior to the joint event,...

South Korea has been in close consultation with the United States.

The Seoul government has stated that the inter-Korean sports and cultural activities.

won't break the international community's sanctions on the North.

Last September, the Trump administration announced a set of sanctions that included banning vessels

and aircraft that have visited North Korea within 180 days from entering the U.S.

State of the Union: Donald Trump delivers his first address - Duration: 1:56.

At the Capitol in Washington, U.S. President Donald Trump gave his first State of the Union

address on Tuesday local time.

For more, we have Lee Jeong-yeon on the line.

Jeong-yeon, during the long and mostly on-script speech made by President Trump, can you tell

us more about the part where he mentions North Korea?

Hi Jiyeon, yes President Trump gave his first annual remarks to Congress and the U.S. public

today on Capitol Hill.

He said "maximum pressure" will be placed on the North Korean regime as he referred

to its "cruel dictatorship" and its "reckless pursuit of nuclear missiles" that could threaten

the U.S..

He said "Complacency and concessions only invite aggression and provocations.

I will not repeat the mistakes of the past administrations that got us into this dangerous

position."

Trump narrated the incident with Otto Warmbier and his death as well as the story of the

North Korean defector Ji Seong-ho who was present at the address.

Aside from comments on the regime, he mainly stressed 'unity' and 'reconciliation' of different

parties to come together 'for the people.'

Immigration was a key issue.

He said he would push for policies that focus on the 'best interests of American workers

and American families,' by crafting a bipartisan approach to immigration reform.

He mentioned the 'four pillars' plan.

This includes a pathway to provide citizenship to 1-point-8 million unregistered immigrants

in the U.S., securing the border with Mexico, and ending the visa lottery as well as chain

migration.

He also took credit for the record-low unemployment rate and rising wages in the country after

'years of stagnation,' and claimed that 2-point-4 million new jobs were created since his election.

He also said the U.S. has enacted the biggest tax cuts and reforms in its history that he

says will provide 'tremendous relief for the middle class and small businesses.'

DIY GIANT YOUTUBE PLAY BUTTON FROM CHOCOLATE - Duration: 3:05.

Hi friends, this is Anna Chi with you and today I wanna try to make a giant YouTube play button from chocolate.

For this, I bought 35 white porous chocolate bars.

Now we need to unpack them and break them into small pieces.

Divide it into two parts. For the larger part we'll be using 30 chocolate bars and the remaining 5 for the white triangular part.

After that we put the chocolate on a heated bath.

The mold for the play button I've prepared beforehand covered it with parchment paper and put a triangle in the center.

We have already melted the chocolate. Now we add some red food coloring, stir quickly before it gets solidified and then fill it into the mold.

Now we level it a bit using a spatula and put it to solidify first in a cool place and then for a couple of hours in the fridge.

Now for the YouTube play button we need to make a white triangle.

So we'll melt the chocolate again, add a white food coloring, mix it and then fill it into the mold.

It is also need to be slightly leveled and let it solidifies.

It took about two hours for the play button to get solidify. Now gently take it out and clear everything else.

Now we put the white triangle inside and the play button is ready. I'm not gonna fill the gaps with chocolate and leave it that way, because I'm afraid to spoil it.

Especially as this is my second attempt.

And we get a giant YouTube play button made of chocolate.

Well, it wasn't that easy for me I had to make it twice, because I couldn't fill the mold on time.

The Chocolate got solidified and I couldn't melt it again.

As a result, I used 69 chocolate bars which if I would have ate them on an everyday basis I would have had it for more than two months.

South Korea, U.S. start second round of FTA talks - Duration: 1:53.

South Korea and the U.S. have started their second round of talks on the possible amendment

of their free trade deal.

The meeting, which kicked off in Seoul earlier today,.... comes amid rising tensions between

the two countries over Washington's safeguard measures on South Korean washers and solar

panels.

Kim Hyesung reports.

A second round of talks to revise the Korea-U.S. free trade agreement.

Negotiators from South Korea and the U.S.,... represented by Yoo Myung-hee, director general

for South Korea's trade ministry's trade policy bureau and her U.S. counterpart, Assistant

Trade Representative Michael Beeman, kicked off their two-day meeting in Seoul.

Before entering the talks, Yoo said she will focus on maximizing Korea's national interest

and that the two sides will discuss details on topics raised during their first round

of talks in Washington.

During the initial meeting in early January, Seoul raised issues with the investor-state

dispute settlement cause and ways to protect its agricultural industry,... while the U.S.

presented proposals to improve its auto exports and lift trade barriers.

As of 2017, Korea's trade surplus with the U.S. was about 18 billion dollars, with car

exports accounting for over 70 percent of the surplus.

At the same time, South Korea is expected to raise the issue of Washington's safeguard

measures.

A week ago, the Trump Administration imposed tariffs on foreign residential washing machines

and solar cells, including those from South Korea, saying they hurt U.S. local industry.

The safeguard measure, which was imposed for the first time against Korea in 16 years,

would lead to tariffs of up to 50 percent on imported washing machines and a 30 percent

tariff will be applied on imported solar panels after the first 2.5 gigawatts in the first

year.

Calling the move excessive, South Korea has filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization.

S. Korea-U.S. defense cost sharing has to be re-set considering fairness, reality: U.S. official - Duration: 0:50.

The South Korea-U.S. defense cost sharing agreement has to be re-set considering reality

and fairness.

That's what Elbridge Colby( ), U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, said on Monday.

Asked whether it isn't contradictory to strengthen the alliance with South Korea but at the same

time seek to negotiate on the defense cost share,... Colby answered, "you wouldn't expect

your friend to be unfair when working together."

He stressed South Korea has become one of the most prosperous countries in the world...

and the U.S. is already spending a large share of its defense budget on supporting forces

abroad.

The comment comes amid speculation the two countries could soon start negotiations on

defense cost.

S. Korea to raise terror threat level as Winter Olympics inches closer - Duration: 0:45.

The terror threat level here in South Korea will be gradually raised over the next few

days as the date inches closer to the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.

The National Counter-Terrorism Center says the threat level will be raised from 'precaution'

to 'advisory' on February 2nd, a week before the Winter Games begin.

The level will then be raised to 'alert' on February 6th, three days ahead of the games,...

in the Seoul metropolitan area and Gangwon-do Province.

There are four levels on the terror threat scale-- precaution, advisory, alert, and serious,...

and the threat level usually stays at 'precaution'.

The National Counter-Terrorism Center will operate under a full-time emergency service

system during the Olympics.

Samsung Electronics posted record earnings on robust demand for memory chips in 2017 - Duration: 1:48.

Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics posted its fourth quarter earnings today.

It said profits were up 64-percent compared to the previous year, mainly due to its semiconductor

unit.

The company's shares jumped in early trading after it announced a stock split.

Cha Sang-mi reports.

Korea's Samsung Electronics said it recorded an operating profit of about 14 billion U.S.

dollars for the quarter ending in December,-- up 64-percent from the year before.

The company's fourth-quarter revenue was around 61-and-a-half billion dollars,... up 23-percent

on-year.

Looking at the full year,... the company recorded sales of 223-point-4 billion dollars last

year, with an operating profit of over 50 billion dollars, nearly doubling that seen

the year before.

All of this,... over strong demand for memory chips and sales of high-end display panels

that go into Apple's iPhone X.

The world's biggest chipmaker, said it expects the demand for chips to remain strong in the

new year,... and announced a 50-to-1 stock split.

Upon the announcement, the company's shares jumped more than 6-percent during the morning

trade,... with shares hovering around 2,460 dollars, two hours into trading.

In a written statement, Samsung said its board believes a stock split would make investing

in the company "more accessible and provide dividends to a wider range of investors from

2018."

The company managed to increase the value of its shares by 41-percent last year,...

despite the leadership vacuum due to its heir apparent Lee Jae-yong's imprisonment related

to the corruption scandal surrounding former President Park Geun-hye.
