How My Collecting Changed For The88Jester 100 Sub Contest - Duration: 1:55.
Hey gang!
The88Jester has hit 100 subscribers,
which he's wanted since the start...and to show
his appreciation for that, he's having a contest!
He wants us to tell him how we've changed as a collector.
And oh, I've changed.
I've changed thanks to youtube.
Before youtube, I was a Previews leafer.
I'd just leaf through Previews, does this look good, does
that look good?
I'd order oddball graphic novels like this,
or I'd order hardcover collections like this...or I'd get a series that'd quickly get canceled.
I had no lust for digging through back issues.
And even ebay auctions were no longer an option.
Previous to that, I did a ton of buying and selling on ebay (well, more buying than selling.)
but then Canada Post raised their shipping rates, so
even people from Canada didn't want to buy from a
Canadian.
And when you don't have a paypal overflowing with cash, the stuff on ebay just isn't
attractive.
And I would never think of going to a thrift store.
My sister stalks thrift stores looking for etsy-
ready flippables, and she actually bought more transformers and gobots stuff for me
than I have.
But youtube changed all that.
You see stuff in videos that you know you must've passed up, and
now you wanna dig for it.
I don't find a whole bunch, but I'm in there, diggin' away.
Digging in the boxes filled with Garfield and Fraggle happy
meal toys.
Going to flea markets, pawn shops, and even comic book stores, sifting through the
90s shit to find a book that bounced from a TV
announcement.
And I buy stuff that's just interesting, too.
It's basically all garbage, but there's only so many neo-
keys and I don't wanna leave empty-handed.
So thank you to The88Jester, thank you for holding this contest.
I hope the sweet victory of hitting a hundred is as satisfying as you thought it'd
be.
And thank you all for watching, thank you all for showing books that I can then seek
out, be disappointed when I don't find them or I find them in beat up CONDISH?!
