Hey, what's up guys! And welcome to DarkLogic Studios Attack on Titan manga reviews and discussions. Before we go any further, I want
to give you fair warning that these videos are going to contain lots and lots of spoilers.
So if you haven't read the latest chapter, then what are you doing with your life? Seriously
though, if you don't want spoilers you should probably click on something else. If you're all caught up though, then let's get to it!
Hey, what's up guys! So, let's talk about Attack on Titan chapter
101. Sorry I haven't been around for a while. I've had a lot going on. Also my computer
completely died on me. I couldn't finish a video even if I had time to, but I am back with a vengeance and
you better believe that we are going to be talking about these two chapters extensively to make up for
my absence over these past several weeks. So! I hope you guys enjoyed the new intro
I hope you guys enjoy this video, and let's get right into it. Now in this video,
I want to do a quick review of chapter 101, we will get to chapter 100 in my next video.
I'll talk about it a little bit in this video.
But my next video is gonna be a joint discussion about chapter 100 and 101
Probably gonna be another long one so get ready!
But in this video,
I just want to talk about chapter 101 a little bit and give you guys my
reaction to it because this chapter was just crazy! Like, this chapter was... oh
my god, like, holy shit. Like, I don't even know... like, fuck!
Immediately, I was just like "Holy shit, this is happening!" and like... Oh my god, okay, so let's... let's just start from the beginning so...
Right off the bat... in chapter 101
Right off the bat, three people freaking die! Three people that we've kind of gotten to know a little bit...
Eren, freaking... at the end of the last chapter, he turned into a Titan, he busted up the freaking stage...
he chopped Willy up into a bunch of little pieces and
the first panel of this chapter is him...
just basically *gulp*
He swallows him. He's... he's gone. Willy's gone... and...
That sucks. I'm really sad about that because I really liked Willy. He was an interesting character, and he had nice hair.
Man... So, this is insane. Eren
I had predicted that this was gonna happen, but I was kind of hoping that it wouldn't... I think it was kind of inevitable
I think we all knew that this was gonna happen
Eren, he's turned into a Titan. He's going crazy. Mads Mikkelsen is like... totally mystified.
He's just watching him. And then Eren jumps into the audience
and there's debris flying everywhere, everybody's running. And we see Colt and Gabi and
Udo... and Colt's trying to get them up, get them out of there... and they turn around and
Gabi's like, "...Zofia?"
Zofia and you just see these pair of legs under a big...
piece of debris and... oh my god, Zofia's dead!
EREN!
THAT'S FUCKED UP!
Oh my god, Eren killed Zofia!
Kyle: "You bastards!"
Oh man, so then Colt gets him up. He's like...
Udo, he's trying to like, call out to her and
Colt's like "It's no use!", and he's trying to get him to run and... and then Udo,
he's like "We have to move this, we have to get her out of there."
And then this crowd of people comes and they get separated and Udo gets knocked over...
And you just see him on the ground, and he's just getting trampled and... oh my god, Udo!
No!
Not Udo!
He was my favorite...
No... he was like the Armin of the Marleyan kids. And then Colt he gets behind
I think it's that same piece of debris that Zofia is under...
to shield them from the crowd and Gabi's just... she's looking around and she's just horrified. She just sees...
freaking... this guy...
lying there... I guess he's dead. He looks like one of the Tybur soldiers
That's not the really tall guy, is it? So in the next scene we see this woman.
She's one of the Tyburs.
And she says "Brother... as far as the Tyburs duty is concerned, you did incredible. How honorable..." and
then you see some electricity going around her and there's this flash next to her and then, boom!
There's the Warhammer Titan! So I guess I was kind of right when I guessed that the Warhammer Titan could be
one of Willy's family members.
I thought it was going to be the tall guy the tall guy was gonna be his brother or something
But tall guys dead, and it looks like it's his sister.
So you see this freakin skeleton rise up this big bright flash of light and
it's like in this savior/messiah-like
pose and then he's just freakin punches her! Sends her flying into a building. And
they start fighting and Commander Magath and his soldiers are watching from a rooftop
and they're all shouting, ones like "The Warhammer Titan has suffered injuries!" "General Calvi, and the other military leaders seem to have been annihilated!"
"Commander, the group of warriors has not been found!" "At any rate,
what about the evacuation of the key personnel? It's dangerous for us to be here as well." "Please give us support!"
"Commander!!"
"Hello! Are you there Commander Magath?!"
And Magath just like shoots... at him.
And they're like, what are you doing!? And he says "Even though it's a peashooter,
that's the trigger for the counter-attack by the Marley forces for now. And to think you would make such a showy entrance to this extent...
In addition, judging by the features...
that's the usupper of the founding Titan, the Attack Titan. Eren Yeager, the man himself has arisen.
"Tch!" Someone goes, "Tch!" Levi's there. Where is Levi? He says head to the island
it'll be more time-efficient. All Hands prepare for battle at all stations
And they're like, "Yes, sir!" So I guess Magath just ordered them to go attack Paradis now that this is happening.
Huh. So then in the next panel, we see Eren being
impaled by this huge... Tower
of... I'm gonna guess that it's probably made out of those Titan crystals
being created by the Warhammer Titan. then Magath says, "Everyone remember this... I'm the one
who dealt the first blow." Then we see Eren, he's just hanging off of this big
spike and the Warhammer Titan, whose head and shoulders and other part of their body are gone, is
regenerating... so...
Obviously, we can already see that this
Titan is incredibly powerful. Eren is gonna be lucky if he survives this at all. And we see Colt and the kids, at least
whoever's left, and they're running. He's carrying Udo, who's just covered in blood. He's not even conscious
I don't think. Who knows if he's even alive. He's also trying to find Falco.
We get back to Pike and Galliard, and they're hearing all this commotion
Galliardr's like, "What's happening outside?" and Pike realizes
this is the reason that they've been restrained down there. Then, lucky them, the Panzer unit comes to rescue them because Pike
foresaw that something was happening and she clued them in on it. So they get them out of there and
they head off to the headquarters to equip Pike, her titan, and then Galliard starts to head off, but she's like, "Wait,
let's observe the situation for a bit. "And then above them they see these...
It's the Survey Corps!!!
So they see all these people above them, with 3DMG gear flying around flying past them and
Pike recognizes it she's like."No way... those kinds of things..." dot dot dot!
So then we get back to Eren and the Warhammer Titan, and we finally see the Warhammer Titan in its full form.
Oh my god! What? This is... creepy. It's really interesting. It's different from the other Titans
It's just like a normal-looking Titan
But it's got these things around its eyes and its mouth and its neck kind of like just these
strings and it's got the face underneath
And it's it almost looks like the face of a medieval helmet or something like that. It's a pretty cool design
It's pretty interesting. Definitely not what I was expecting. But I wasn't really sure what to expect,
But anyway...
we see the Warhammer Titan and it's
manifesting these objects, these huge
weapons.
So it's kind of like...
so she's kind of like the
T1000 in Terminator 2. Who can just like materialize metal objects... well
not really materialize, just like shape his body into them or whatever.
But she seems to be able to just materialize this
Titan crystal stuff out of nowhere. I'm just assuming
that's what it's made out of, because that's what we've seen the Titans
create before. We've seen Annie do this and Eren can do this a little bit. Reiner is obviously covered in an armor of
some kind, it's probably some kind of variation of it, whatever it is. So this is really cool.
Like this is really something. The Warhammer Titan can just make weapons
out of nothing, and that's pretty... that's pretty badass.
So she freaking swings this big-ass hammer at Eren, and Eren freakin breaks off the top of the...
obelisk thing. He just frickin jumps off and runs. He's got this thing sticking out of his stomach, like
Whatevs! Got freaking people are shooting at him. The Warhammer Titan is creating these spikes.
And they're just throwing everything they got there at him. We see Captain Magath and the soldiers again, and they're talking about
"At this rate,
we'll certainly be able to kill him. should we kill him? And...
Like, they wanted to recover the founding Titan alive, and Captain Magath says "Well,
it's our new policy that we're not gonna rely on Titans anymore, so we're just gonna kill him.
We don't need the Titans. We need to just destroy him right here." Then magazine is asking,
"What is the enemy's objective? If the Founding Titan is killed right here, then the enemy's forces are done for.
Even if it should fall back into enemy hands, the time of the Titans is already over." And as he's observing, he says,
"Seems like the Warhammer Titan has no intention of eating the Founding Titan."
Then the freakin Warhammer Titan, she swings the hammer
right into Eren's head. Knocks his freaking head off! He's got no head now.
He's got no arms. And the're like watching in awe.
They're like "It's so strong, the Attack Titan is no match for it." "The victory goes to the Warhammer Titan!"
Then you see the nape open up spraying with steam,
Magath's watching, he sees Eren emerge. He's like so that's the guy
Eren Jaeger
So Eren comes out. He's looking at the Warhammer Titan. Warhammer's looking at him.
Magath's watching them both, and then the Warhammer Titan starts talking
And she's like, the usupper, Eren Jaeger. In your final moments,
do you have any last words?
And then, Eren's like, "Do it now...
"...Mikasa!"
Then somebody pops out, freakin shoots them in the back of the head, freakin explodes.
Magath and the soldiers are like, "Oh shit!
We're fucked." We see Mikasa, she's all flipping around being awesome. We see the Survey Corps jumping around.
I think that's Jean right there, and Mikasa lands on Eren's Titan's
shoulder, and Eren says, "I'm thankful... that everyone came for me."
Mikasa says, "Eren... please. Come home."
And the footnote says, "He's different from that time when he was fighting against ordinary Titans."
So... Damn damn Diggity damn da damn damn damn damn damn damn
Freaking A, man! Willy is dead...
Willy and his fabulous hair...
is gone forever...
He wasn't the Warhammer Titan, his sister was the Warhammer Titan.
That's pretty badass. A lot of people kind of has a feeling he wasn't really the Warhammer Titan so
That was a pretty cool twist. Tall guy wasn't the Warhammer Titan either.
So that's kind of funny. I like that Isayama
misdirected the shit out of us and...
tried to make it... You know sometimes I wonder if he reads the theories and does like something different
based on what people are expecting.
Just to like mess with us like... mess with us. I would do it if I were a writer, and I like an ongoing story
I would read what people are expecting to happen in the story, and then I would do the opposite
I mean as long as it made sense you know
And it wasn't like too consequential to the story that was already being told, but anyway... Sophia is dead
Jesus
Christ Udo is all fucked up. We don't know where Reiner and Falco are
Reiner...
Reiner is never going to die, as much as he wants to. I highly doubt that he's dead
He's got to be alive somewhere. I'm sure he's gonna pop up
and become the Armored Titan. Maybe. Who knows or maybe if Falco is still alive, survived that somehow, maybe
Reiner is just gonna let Falco inherit the armored Titan right then. Could you do that?
I mean, I guess you would need a serum to do that, but who knows there could be a way around it
We don't know yet, but anyway freaking kids though, man
I think we all knew that at least one of the kids we're gonna die at some point, but freaking A, man.
One is definitely dead, two potentially are going to die are already dead and Gabi's the only one left, and Gabi...
Gabi's the one nobody likes.
Gabi's the one everybody can't stand, so that figures. But anyway...
What's interesting though about the fact that she is the one who
has survived this and she's the one that, she's not hurt. She's just witnessing all of this. It's very...
very suited to her character progression.
Because it's very ironic because she was so like war hungry and all about
becoming a warrior and blah blah blah, and now in this chapter she is seeing war firsthand.
She is witnessing the true horrors of war in her hometown
which, you know, she's been to war.
She's seen, I'm sure she's seen dead bodies. I'm sure since she's seen people get hurt and die,
but... I'm sure she's seen her friends get hurt and die, but this is like in her hometown, and this is her close friends.
So it's probably hitting home now. I think, finally, for her. Maybe it's gonna change her attitude a little bit.
But anyway, it's friggin messed up. This chapter was really sad, but also fucking awesome. The Warhammer Titan,
I love the Warhammer Titan. She looks amazing. She looks really cool. She's got crazy powers.
I'm not disappointed in the reveal at all, and this fight between Eren and her
was really... intense.
Really violent. Holy crap. So, also, Pike and Galliard are out of that little hole in the ground
So they might pop up in the next chapter and this fighting... like, holy crap. This is gonna get insane!
We got the survey Corps, like, God knows how many of them are there.
It looks like there's a lot of them. A lot more than nine.
There's a lot more members of the survey Corps now than there were when we last left the. So, that's good.
So, it looks like the letter that Eren sent
maybe wasn't actually to Zeke? Maybe it was to them? I guess... which, I don't know, that doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
But it did seem like he sent multiple letters, so I'm a little confused on what... who cares, whatever.
It's just a fucking letter, but anyway...
I'm sure that it didn't take Eren sending a letter to the Survey Corps for them to be like, "Hey...
Eren is gone. He went somewhere on his own again. Motherfucker. Now
we got to go after his ass. Jesus fucking Christ, like, come on. Argh!
Goddamnit, Eren. So, but anyway...
We got to see some of our Survey Corps members, some of the characters that we've been waiting to see for like an entire
year, oh my gosh. It's been so long. We saw, Mikasa
I think we saw a Jean there a little bit. I wonder who else is there
I hope Levi's there. I hope Hanji is there. I hope Armin is there. I want to see Armin.
It's interesting that we didn't see Armin in this chapter, even though we saw Mikasa. That makes me think that maybe
something's gonna happen with Armin, like I and other people have been theorizing, that he might turn into the Colossal Titan
Although, I don't know. It's kind of hard to imagine.
Phew...
Things are gonna get crazy. Anyway...
So we got Erem there, Mikasa there. Jean is there. The survey corps is there. On the other side,
we have the Warhammer Titan
Freaking the Cart Titan and the Jaw Titan are on their way. The Armored Titan might be on his way
Zeke the beast Titan he's around somewhere.
He's doing something and...
if and when he emerges
it's hard to say
what side he's gonna be on. Will he protect Eren? Will he fight his comrades to protect his little brother?
Or will he join with the other warriors to protect his homeland?
As I said in a previous video, I'm really not sure what side Zeke is on. I really think he's on his own side.
He's got his own goals and whatever they are, his actions are going to follow those goals.
I really think that he wants to protect Eren. I really think that him and Eren have been in contact somehow,
whether it was from the letters or not. I mean, he sent him a baseball mitt. That had to be from Zeke.
I guess we'll just have to see, and like I said in my previous video as well. I theorized that
Eren had come here to attack Marley in order to trigger the Marley
to attack Paradis so that they could have
this battle on their own terms. That maybe there's this big plan, but it looks like Eren just kind of ran off on his own.
But, you know, who knows. Maybe they were already planning this attack
and Eren got impatient and decided to just go. I mean, who knows what is going on. All these characters,
they've got all their own motivations. They've got all their own backstory driving them, and it's really interesting.
I just, I don't know what's going on in Eren's head right now.
I don't know what's going on in Zeke's head. Idonno what's going on... period!
So anyway, as I was saying...
That happened. Magath ordered his soldiers to send people to attack the island.
So... was that intentional? Is that what Eren wanted?
I guess we'll have to see. Because I'm guessing that Magath is thinking since Eren is here,
there's nobody to protect the island. Except maybe if the Colossal Titan is there protecting the island.
But, of course, they've got all those other Colossal Titans in the wall, but only Eren can release them
And he's not there. So, I'm sure Magath is thinking, if we go now we might be able to get the jump on them, because the Rogue Titan/Founding Titan/Eren
is acting on his own, then we got a chance. So... and he could be right. I don't know. But anyway...
Eren, such a badass in this chapter. Mikasa, such a badass in this chapter.
Everybody such a badass. I mean,
Warhammer Titan, fucking badass. Like, holy shit.
This chapter was...
amazing and horrible and devastating and terrible and wonderful, and... oh my god...
Holy crap, this was intense... Like, oh my gosh, I'm gonna wrap up this review! I hope you enjoyed it.
