prohibiting the English translation of Islamic terms

sacred Arabic names and words like Allah

Masjid Saleh art and Rasool are now forbidden to be translated in English as God mosque prayer and profit in that

Respective order now. Do you know it's illegal to eat in public for a month every year now

This is because Ramadan is an important month for Muslims and considered to be very sacred in Islamic countries

Since Pakistan of course is an Islamic country people are not allowed to eat in public in the month of Ramadan even if they're non

Muslim so that's where it gets a bit interesting there now the tax education in a third world country where almost half of the population

is struggling to get basic education imposing taxes on education is a little too much and

Pakistan has been doing this for quite some time if you spend more than 2 lakh rupees

on education

5% tax will be imposed for it. Also you cannot travel to Israel so

Pakistan has not recognized Israel as a separate state

Which is why the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan does not actually allow?

Pakistanis to visit Israel on a Pakistani passport the next law I want to talk about is

Transgenders cannot join the army now. There are milli of transgenders and

crossdressers in Pakistan however along with several other

Limitations what they can do they're also not able to join the Pakistani army?

This is also pretty interesting one sending spam messages is actually illegal so sending someone a spam message

Of course is just super annoying right?

Now if you're caught spamming anyone guess what you'll have to pay a fine of 1 million rupees

Now the Prime Minister of Pakistan must be Muslim

But he doesn't actually need to be educated to be a prime minister

Just that he has to be Muslim the eligibility requirements do mention an adequate knowledge of Islamic teachings and practices

As well as he has to abstain from major sins, but it doesn't state any set of educational criteria

to hold office of a prime minister

Now this next lot was

super super controversial

Before the protection of Women Act in 2006 if you've been sexually

Assaulted check this you needed to produce 4

eyewitnesses in order to be proven as a victim the protection of Women Act in

2006 has tried to override this law by introducing the element of DNA evidence

Being admitted during any sort of sexual assault cases

But the issue still remains very controversial now do that there's no

Issuance of a passport unless you declare Ahmadi community as non of Muslim so until the year

1974 the ahmadi community was considered a sect of Islam in Pakistan which was later declared a

non-muslim community

and then this is why it is compulsory for every Pakistani to sign the statement on their passport form that says I

approve Ahmadi community as a

non-muslim and now for the final law I want to share with you is about uploading memes, so

Uploading a meme can land you behind the bars right so you cannot pose any sort of funny pictures or memes about any political

Leaders regardless of how immature they may act sometime, so like you can't be making fun of them

Toys designed to educate kids about coding are becoming popular in Korea - Duration: 2:00.

Coding is the key part that makes or breaks software programs... and getting into it can

be a lucrative career.

However,... it's not for everyone... as it's difficult to learn and even harder to master.

To make learning code less daunting, especially for youngsters, a range of toys based on computer

code have been commercialized... and are proving popular with kids.

Cho Sung-min reports.

The devices and online services we use today are made possible by talented computer coders.

The ability to code is considered a pathway to many of the jobs of the future.

But it's not something everyone catches on to easily.

To make computer programing more interesting and less stressful for beginniners,... toys

are hitting the shelves and are seeing some tangible results.

Coding toys are especially popular among children, since they can do things ordinary toys cannot.

For instance, this color-sensing toy can sense and follow up and down the colored line…

while some fancier ones can even differentiate multiple colors at once.

Another top seller is a cat robot made of Lego blocks, which moves its tail and screeches

when a baby bottle is put on its mouth.

(KOREAN) "As long as you punch in the right coding

and have a motor and a sensor, you can make your toy take commands and follow your orders."

Computer science experts highly recommend learning to code at young age…because it

clearly demonstrates how rough ideas are turned into concrete output.

(KOREAN) "Coding is useful because it provides a vivid

picture of how questions are solved when you put in the right formulas.

Beginners can easily get a grasp of computational logic, which is vital knowledge that plays

big part in the digital era."

As of 2018, coding will officially be added to the curriculum taught in public elementary

schools.

And to fulfill the educational demands, more coding toys and smartphone applications for

young learners will be made available in the near future.

MY FIRST BLITSY HAUL! January 2018 (and a mini rant) - Duration: 7:21.

Hey guys, and welcome to my very first Blitsy haul!

I entirely blame CaliG for this [laughs] - she had posted a haul from Blitsy with a better

explanation of the website than I had heard before…

I thought that it was a website like Wish, where they have craft supplies, but they also

have a whole bunch of other stuff.

In fact, it's just a craft supplies site, and they automatically have the prices in

Canadian dollars, and the prices are decent!

It's crazy!

The prices do seem to change based on the exchange rate, though, because the things

I picked up in this haul are now going for higher prices than what I paid, so keep that

in mind if you're going to check them out.

If you can check them out when the exchange rate is better, you're going to find better deals!

So originally I was NOT planning to order anything from Blitsy - I was just going to look around.

But then I found something that I had never heard of, but I instantly knew that I needed

it [laughs], so I ended up placing an order.

And one great thing about Blitsy, too, is they have a "save for later" function,

so when you find a hundred different things you want, you can reign yourself in by saving

half of it for later. [laughs]

So I'll show you the item I just HAD to have at the end of the haul… but I'll

show you the other things first.

So first I checked out their clearance section, and I found two Halloween things that were

just too cute to pass up…

I got these Little B ghost stickers for $1.50 - and again these are all Canadian dollars

- I just thought these were so cute, and they're like a little resin or acrylic or something; they're hard.

And then I also picked up this Little B washi for $1.13…

I had actually almost bought this at a scrapbooking show back in October, but the seller had it

going for like $4.00 or $5.00, so I decided against it… and I'm glad I did, cuz $1.13

is a way better price!

Also from the clearance section, I got these two Tim Holtz distress crayons - one in "Chipped

Sapphire" and one in "Vintage Photo" - for $1.87 each.

I do already have one distress crayon that I got in a sampler pack a while back; it's

this one here, it's called "Peeled Paint", and it's like this really ugly snot green

colour [laughs], so because it's just such an ugly colour, I haven't really felt inspired

to play with it, even though it does seem cool from the little bit of playing I've

done with it.

So I figured if I got some in colours I actually like, maybe I'd actually use them!

Next up I picked up this "Love You To The Moon And Back" 6x6 paper pad by ModaScrap

for $6.43… now admittedly I should have read the description a little better, because

it only has 12 sheets, which is a little disappointing.

But I just thought the patterns were SO cute, so I'm not that disappointed! [laughs] So

I'll just give you a quick flip through here…

So I'm excited to play with that for Valentine's Day!

And finally, we have the item that caused me to place the order in the first place…

this is the We R Memory Keepers Magnetic Staple Board, and I got it for $16.72.

Before I placed the order, I checked to see if it was available on Amazon, and it was…

for $27.00. [laughs]

Obviously I haven't opened it yet, so I can't give you a demo, but if I can find

the videos that I watched on this before I bought it, I will link them down below.

Basically this is a tool that allows you to staple wherever you want on a project, without

the hassle of one of those long-arm staplers.

You've got the three different sizes of staplers, and there's a little magnetic

frame in here - you probably can't see it - but it holds the paper down and holds the

stapler in place.

So you just place paper between the frame and the base, and then you stick the stapler

in on top, and staple away.

So the paper can be wherever you want to position it.

I'm really hoping this works well, because I've had a couple of projects, like making

mini albums and things like that, where I needed to staple into the spine of the book

or whatever, and my traditional stapler doesn't reach that far.

And I really didn't want to have to get a long-arm stapler, and so I'm hoping that

with this, I won't need to!

And then I also grabbed two of the 500-count staple refills, because they were only $1.74 each.

So that's it for this haul, and I'm really happy with my purchases; excited to play with

them!

One more thing I will point out about ordering from Blitsy, at least here in Ontario, is

that you will get dinged for taxes at the border.

It was strange - when I checked out on the website, there was a section in the subtotal

for provincial tax, but it didn't charge me anything.

It recognized that I was in Ontario, but it didn't charge me any tax.

I did, however, get charged $4.28 in taxes at the post office.

Now, that wasn't a big deal, other than having to make the trip to the post office,

and I actually wasn't charged duties, which was great.

However - and this is not Blitsy's fault - even though I was only charged $4.28 in

taxes, I ended up having to pay $14.28 at the post office.

Why's that?

Because the courier who delivered the package, DHL, charged me a flat $10.00 fee for the

"courtesy" of having paid my taxes for me at the border.

Now, I did not ask them to do this.

They also did not bring me my package; I still had to go to the post office.

And yet somehow I ended up paying $10.00 more in shipping because they performed a service

I never asked for.

I am not impressed.

And there's actually a sticker on the box; give me a second, I'll show you...

I'm hoping you can read that; it says:

"Dear Customer,

Your parcel has incurred duties and taxes that we have paid to Canada Customs on your

behalf.

Please see the break down of the amounts in the reference field of the shipping label.

You will notice a service fee of $10.00 Canadian is collected in addition to duties and taxes.

This service fee is required to cover the cost of collecting and remitting payment."

And see, it says: "Duties: $0.00.

Taxes: $4.28.

Fees: $10.00."

Yeah, so needless to say, I'm not impressed with that! [laughs] Especially since I paid

Blitsy $10.00 for shipping already.

Blitsy has free shipping to Canada once you order just over $62.00 Canadian of stuff - the

exact total changes based on the exchange rate.

So I ordered about $33.00 worth of stuff, then paid $10.00 for shipping, but then I

also had to pay the $10.00 extra that DHL charged me - so I actually spent $30.00 on

product, and $20.00 on shipping.

I could have instead bought $62.00 worth of product, gotten free shipping, and only paid

the one $10.00 fee to DHL, even if it is incredibly stupid [laughs].

So that would have been a much better value for my dollar, but I didn't know I was going

to get dinged… by the people I already... paid to ship me… a package.

So I will probably end up doing that next time I order, assuming that there is one.

I would like very much like to order from Blitsy again - the prices are really good,

especially if you get them on a good exchange rate; the variety of products seems pretty

wide; and my package got here pretty quickly - it was like, maybe a week?

I don't even know if it was that long.

So I really, other than this nonsense at the end, I really enjoyed using Blitsy.

But having to pay for shipping twice is a little much - I paid them $10.00, which ostensibly

was going to DHL to ship me my package, and then DHL charged me another $10.00.

Not impressed with that.

Like I said, it's not Blitsy's fault; I'm just warning my fellow Canadians that

that may occur, at least in Ontario.

Has anyone else experienced this when ordering from Blitsy, whether you be in Ontario or

otherwise?

Korea's e-commerce giant Cafe24 helping local firms expand business overseas - Duration: 2:19.

Stretching further into the global market,... that's one of the goals set by the Moon administration,...

as they hope to see more of Korea's small and mid-sized firms doing business overseas.

And now, we take a look at a local firm doing just that,... helping other companies expand

their business horizons beyond Korea... through the company's e-commerce platform.

Shin Se-min reports.

It was part of the South Korean government's plan for the brand new year that they support

small and mid-sized firms and start-ups to encourage them to go global.

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced this week that it's adding more than 165 million

U.S. dollars into its annual budget to back small firms that plan to expand overseas.

The ministry says the backing will give smaller firms the impetus to enter the global market

through e-commerce platforms,... by fostering online-shopping malls.

And Korea's e-commerce giant, Cafe24, competing with Shopify of Canada and China's Alibaba--

already has a firm footing in the global market.

The company logged over six-billion dollars worth of transactions in 2017 through its

e-commerce platform,.. a jump of 51-percent compared to two years ago.

And while the head of the e-commerce giant sees the fast-approaching 4th industrial revolution

as a potential boon,... difficulties remain.

(KOREAN) "There are multiple steps that go into connecting

companies in Korea to customers overseas.

And challenges always pop up as we, as a platform, work to provide the best service for our users

on both ends."

From creating a small online company through its shopping mall, to branding and marketing

its products to those living outside Korea,... and eventually making that business successful,...

the CEO says every step is a challenge.

But with the recently announced government plans,.. Cafe24 is hopeful that some of the

difficulties it has been facing,... will ease over time,... and it will achieve its goal

of helping other local companies make the jump from a domestic market of 50 million

people to a global market of billions.

Mt. Kumgang Cultural Performance Center most likely venue for inter-Korean joint cultural events - Duration: 2:04.

South and North Korea have agreed on Mount Kumgang as the place to hold joint cultural

events before the Winter Olympics.

But the Mount Kumgang Cultural Performance Center hasn't been in operation for ten years...

raising questions as to whether it is suitable for holding these joint cultural performances.

Lee Jeong-yeon has the details.

The location most likely to host the inter-Korean joint cultural events is the Mount Kumgang

Cultural Performance Center.

The center was built in 1999, with its construction costing a whopping 46-billion won, or 43-million

U.S. dollars.

But it has been closed for the last decade as tours to Mount Kumgang were banned in 2008

after a South Korean tourist was shot by a North Korean soldier.

So to alleviate concerns that the facilities may be too outdated, the South Korean government

is to send a team of technical experts, as well as officials from the Unification and

Culture Ministry to inspect the center beforehand.

(Kor) "South Korea will send an on-site inspection

team to the North from January 23rd to the 25th..."

The contents of the events will vary depending on the inspection results, but one thing for

certain is that South and North Korean artists would take turns singing on stage, as lighting

alone would suffice for stage effects.

There is also a possibility of traditional North Korean dance performances, as well as

performances by K-pop artists, which have been drawing the interest of North Koreans.

The size of the stage would also allow for a mid-sized 40-to-60-member joint orchestra.

Experts say that the significance of the joint cultural events at Mount Kumgang is not only

in the joint-performances that would signify peaceful collaboration.

It could also lead to a win-win situation as South Korea hopes to resume inter-Korean

family reunions which would most likely be held at Mount Kumgang, and the regime wants

to reopen the area as a tourist destination once more.

2017 was the second hottest years on record: NASA - Duration: 1:38.

Another year, another unwanted climate record.

NASA announced Thursday that 2017 was the second-hottest year since records began 138

years ago.

Won Jung-hwan has the details.

Last year was the second hottest year on record according to NASA, and the third hottest year

on record according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association.

The two organizations calculate world temperatures in slightly different ways.

Both agencies said the average global surface temperature last year was only slightly below

that of 2016, the hottest year on record.

2016 saw temperatures nearly one degree Celsius higher than the previous century's average.

The record-breaking temperatures in 2016 were fueled largely by El Nino, a weather pattern

where a large area of warm water develops in the central Pacific, causing higher regional

temperatures.

But 2017 was warm even without El Nino's help.

Scientists say the rising temperatures are the consequence of 40 years of global warming,

resulting from human activity such as burning fossil fuels and cutting down forests.

Scientific consensus predicts average global temperatures to rise by as much as 3 degrees

Celsius by 2050,... leading to rising sea levels and an uptick in extreme weather events.

Korea and other countries in the mid-tropical region will experience a much longer summer

monsoon season as a result of the rising temperatures.

Leaders of Britain and France meet to boost ties amid Brexit talks - Duration: 2:23.

British Prime Minister Theresa May and French President Emmanuel Macron met on Thursday

to discuss a slew of deals to limit the potential fallout from Brexit.

They pledged closer cooperation on defense, security and borders after Britain leaves

the European Union.

Ro Aram has the details.

President Macron is making his first trip to the UK since taking office and Thursday's

bilateral summit was intended to strengthen security and intelligence ties, as well as

build good relations amid Brexit negotiations.

May hosted Macron at the Sandhurst military academy in the southwest of London as a signal

that the relationship between Western Europe's two biggest military powers won't be weakened

after Britain leaves the EU next year.

In a significant gesture, May pledged roughly 62 million U.S. dollars to speed up the processing

of migrants in Calais and to boost border security.

The move is seen as trying to ease French anger over a 2003 deal known as the Le Touquet

agreement, in which France bears most of the burden in controlling the flow of migrants

from the British border in Calais to the UK.

Macron welcomed the offer.

(French) AP - 4135578 / 2 " This treaty will enable us, as you reminded

us, to improve the technical operational cooperation of the management of the common border, to

improve the work that we do with countries of origin and countries of transit to prevent

the movement of populations, but it will enable us to have an intelligent cooperation management

of the common border."

In regards to military cooperation, the UK said it will send three Royal Air Force Chinook

helicopters and dozens of personnel to join France's military mission against Islamic

militants in Africa's Sahel region.

The leaders of the five main British and French spy agencies also met for the first time to

increase intelligence-sharing, as both countries have faced a string of violent attacks by

extremists inspired or directed by the Islamic State group.

France also provided a good will gesture of its own by loaning Britain the Bayeux Tapestry,

which depicts the Norman conquest of England.

It will be the first time to be on British soil in 900 years and May said the move would

form part of a wider cultural exchange taking place between the two countries over the next

four years.

Trump adamant about need for border wall with Mexico - Duration: 2:07.

U.S. President Donald Trump is pushing back against his chief of staff's comments on building

a wall across the entire border with Mexico.

President Trump tweeted that he hasn't changed his mind, and a wall will still happen.

The tweets come at a uncertain time in Washington, with a potential government shutdown looming

on Friday.

Cha Sang-mi has more.

President Trump seems adamant on his border control plans.

He tweeted Thursday local time, "The Wall is the Wall, it has never changed or evolved

from the first day I conceived of it." and wrote, "The Wall will be paid for, directly

or indirectly, or through longer term reimbursement, by Mexico, which has a ridiculous $71 billion

dollar trade surplus with the U.S." Trump also hinted at his intention to pull

out of NAFTA, referring to it as "a bad joke", which Mexico is taking advantage of.

The ranting tweet comes after his chief of staff John Kelly had said President Trump

wasn't "fully informed" when he vowed to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border during

an interview with Fox News.

(ENGLISH) - AP "There's been an evolutionary process that

this president has gone through, as a campaign, and I pointed out to all of the members that

were in the room that they all say things during the course of campaigns that may or

may not be fully informed."

Kelly acknowledged that President Trump's stance on major campaign pledges has been

(quote) "very, very flexible in terms of what is in the realms of the possible".

On the issue of payment, Kelly replied that the U.S. may charge Mexico, but the payment

wouldn't be directly from their government.

And amid Democrats' efforts to reach a deal to protect young immigrants from deportation

from the U.S., President Trump said, "If there is no Wall, there is no Deal,", referring

to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which is to expire in March.

Trump also faces the threat of a government shutdown, with Congress needing to pass a

spending bill by the end of Friday to avoid a shutdown.

Air quality improves in Seoul, some regions still dusty _ 011918 - Duration: 2:12.

Good afternoon, those of us in Seoul can finally breathe in better air... so it's a good day

to open your windows to get some fresh air in.

However, Chungcheong-do and Jeolla-do as well the Gyeongsang-do regions will continue to

deal with high levels of fine dust.

Morning lows were nearly 4 to 5 degrees lower than yesterday in many parts... kicking off

in negative territory,... but daily highs will be similar to a tad higher today and

into the weekend.

As for today's highs, Seoul will get up to 5 degrees Celsius, Busan will rise to 11 degrees...

most regions will be under mostly sunny skies.

For next week, we will have another wave of bitterly cold conditions... not just for a

couple days but for a whole week and into the week after...so enjoy the somewhat mild

conditions while they are here.

With that, let's take a look at the international weather for viewers around the world.

While some regions in South Korea will have relatively high levels of fine dust today,

most cities in North Korea will see single digit afternoon highs under mostly sunny skies.

As for the rest of Asia, flights between Tuguegarao and Manila were canceled Thursday due to bad

weather but things will improve on Friday.

Meanwhile, extreme weather is taking a toll on Melbourne and making it the hottest day

in two years on Friday.

Heading to North America, those of you in Montreal will get a little break from the

insanely cold temperatures into Saturday before another cold front makes a comeback.

As for South America, Bogota and Sao Paulo will have a wet Friday.

Taking you to Europe,..

Rome will have sunny skies back this weekend

Lastly to Africa, temperatures will ease in Cape Town along with gusty winds.

U.S. has to deal with Kim Jong-un: White House Chief of Staff - Duration: 0:37.

The United States has "no road left" for putting off reaching an agreement with North Korea

to end its development and retention of nuclear weapons.

This is according to White House Chief of Staff John Kelly in an interview with Fox

News.

He said the U.S. has to deal with Kim Jong-un as he cannot have nuclear weapons that can

reach the U.S. mainland.

But Kelly stressed the United States keeps channels open with North Korea,... adding

he prefers not to comment further on it.

A peaceful resolution of North Korea's nuclear issue and a successful PyeongChang Winter

Olympic Games.

That's what the leaders of South Korea and France agreed to work on... during a 30-minute-long

phone conversation Thursday evening.

President Moon brought French President Emmanuel Macron up to date on the inter-Korean talks

regarding the North's participation in the upcoming Olympic Games in South Korea... and

expressed hopes that the latest developments would ease tensions and ultimately lead to

a nuclear-free Korean peninsula.

Macron, in return, spoke highly of President Moon's efforts to ensure peace on the peninsula

and the rest of the world... throwing his support behind the ongoing dialogue.

As the two leaders agreed to expand bilateral cooperation and communication on various levels,

the South Korean leader invited his French counterpart to his country for the Winter

Olympics and Paralympic Games and President Macron said he will seriously look into the

possibility with gratitude.

Exports by Korean venture startups hit a record high last year.

The Korea International Trade Association says total exports by Korean venture startups

rose nine-point-nine percent on-year in 2017 to 19-point-eight billion U.S. dollars.

China was the main overseas market for venture firms, with exports increasing seven-point-three

percent to five billion U.S. dollars last year.

Vietnam and the United States followed, with shipments up 39 percent and five percent respectively.

Shipments of instrumentation and control devices surged 58-point-five percent, followed by

exports of semiconductor production equipment and flat panel displays.

'From PyeongChang to peace': South Korean gov't unveils New Year diplomacy and security policies - Duration: 2:19.

The South Korean government has unveiled ambitious plans to use next month's Winter Olympics

in PyeongChang as the 'turning point' towards peace on the Korean peninsula.

This agenda comes as part of a policy briefing on the nation's diplomatic and security issues

for the new year.

Kwon Jang-ho has the details.

'From PyeongChang to peace'...

That's the theme of this New Year's diplomacy and security policy briefing, handed into

Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon on Friday.

Due to North Korea's involvement, next month's PyeongChang Winter Olympics has become the

focus of this year's agenda, with Seoul hoping to use it as a platform to improve inter-Korean

relations.

(Korean) "Through the successful hosting of the PyeongChang

Winter Olympics, we must try and reach for peace on the Korean peninsula.

Our government and the international community must use its wisdom on this small but precious

opportunity."

The Unification Ministry pledged to use the momentum from the Games to hold more high-level

talks with North Korea, while the foreign ministry said it will try to encourage dialogue

on an international scale, namely between Washington and Pyongyang.

After South and North Korea agreed to make a joint entrance at next month's Olympics,

the culture and sports ministry also said it will push for similar entrances at other

international sporting events, such as the Jakarta Asian Games in August.

The defense ministry has pledged to use all its available resources to ensure the safety

of the event.

On broader issues in the policy report, the foreign ministry outlined plans to increase

cooperation with the four key strategic partners of U.S., China, Russia and Japan, while also

spreading Seoul's diplomatic influence to non-traditional partner countries.

The unification ministry has pledged to better represent the opinions of the people in its

unification policy, as well as do more to help North Korea defectors adjust to life

in the South.

Meanwhile, the defense ministry has pledged to continue its drive to revamp the military,

with plans to reduce the number of troops from the current 610-thousand to 500-thousand

by 2022, and the mandatory military service period from the current 21 months to 18 months.

Policy briefings will continue for another ten days, with government agencies to report

on issues such as healthcare, the economy and education.

Every color of light has a different wavelength.

Red light has the longest, slowest wavelength of visible light, and violet has the shortest,

fastest wavelength.

The air in the Earth's atmosphere is made of gases, mostly nitrogen and oxygen.

These gases are made of tiny molecules spread far apart from each other.

The short wavelength of blue and violet light means that blue and violet light are more

likely to hit the air molecules and be scattered through the sky.

But wait - if blue and violet light are scattered in the sky, why doesn't the sky look purple?

One: there is less violet light than blue light in sunlight, and two: our eyes are more

sensitive to blue light than violet light, causing the sky to look blue to us.

North Korea to take part in 4 sports events in PyeongChang - Duration: 2:21.

A lot of attention is being drawn to the upcoming IOC meeting in Switzerland... where sports

officials from South and North Korea will sit down to discuss the breadth of North Korea's

participation at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

On Thursday it was confirmed that the two Koreas have agreed that North Korean athletes

will take part in four different sports events.

Park Jong-hong tells us more.

Two more sports events have been added to North Korea's participation list at next month's

Winter Olympics in the South.

The North will send athletes to compete in pair figure skating, alpine skiing, cross-country

skiing and women's ice hockey.

Lee Hee-beom, head of the organizing committee for PyeongChang 2018, said the agreement was

reached during working-level inter-Korean talks on Wednesday.

But he stopped short of disclosing the number of North Korean athletes, saying it's up to

the International Olympic Committee to decide.

Lee was leaving for the IOC headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, where IOC President

Thomas Bach will chair a meeting on Saturday.

The gathering is formally titled the "North and South Korean Olympic Participation Meeting,"

and on hand will be the heads of the national Olympic committees for the two Koreas and

IOC members from both nations.

Earlier, the Koreas agreed to form a joint team in women's ice hockey, which sparked

a heated national debate.

Some argue the decision will deprive South Korean athletes of the chance to hit the ice.

While the Korea Ice Hockey Association announced a 23-player roster, many hope to increase

that number.

(KOREAN) "We are all trying hard so that our athletes

don't suffer any disadvantage.

Keeping that in mind, we'll try to have a good meeting."

As of yet, it's unclear whether the IOC will acknowledge increasing the entry just for

the unified team of the two Koreas.

The Koreas have competed as one nation in table tennis and football but never at the

Olympics.

Meanwhile, North Korea's Sports Minister Kim Il-gook arrived in Lausanne on Thursday.

He and his delegation are slated to first meet separately with IOC executives prior

to the joint meeting with the South Korean delegation.

U.S. House passes bill to pressure developing countries to do their part to punish North Korea - Duration: 0:51.

The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a bill that will clamp down on countries that

do not show a determination to pressure North Korea over its nuclear and missile programs.

Called the World Bank Accountability Act of 2017,... the bill will allow the U.S. to oppose

the provision of assistance to the borrowing countries of the International Development

Association... if the U.S. President determines that government has not fully implemented

or enforced UN sanctions on the North.

Seventy-seven countries are part of the IDA,... countries with less than 1,215 dollars of

per capita income,... like Uganda, Tanzania, Syria and Cambodia.

The bill now awaits Senate approval before it heads to President Trump's desk for his

signature.
