How to Turn One Case Study Into Five - Duration: 3:55.- When I was first applying for jobs,
I talked to this resume consultant
and she gave me this really great piece of advice.
She said leverage every story you can.
She wanted me to document everything
that I would have done previously,
so that we could turn it into a story
that would build a resume from basically no experience.
And we used a similar strategy with case studies.
So, in this video, I want to show you
how to turn one case study into five.
How to take a case study that you already have
and mold it so it appeals to people in various industries.
The reason why you want to have a custom case study
for each industry is people are more likely to buy from you
when you've worked with somebody like them in the past.
Simple as that.
X27, we only do marketing for agencies.
So when an agency comes to us and sees our case studies,
sees the work we've done for other agencies,
they're like, oh, I'm an agency.
They do work for agencies.
I'm gonna work with them.
For you selling marketing or web
or whatever service you sell, it's the exact same way.
If you can prove that you've done work
that's extremely similar to what the client wants,
they're gonna buy from you.
Let's use an example case study and I'll show you how
you can twist it to fit a bunch of different industries.
One of our clients built a cooking blog
for a major publisher.
So, let's say, it's Penguin Random House.
It's not, but it's someone like that.
So they built this cooking blog for this major company
and, when I would tell this story to clients,
people that were gonna buy from this agency,
I would phrase it a couple different ways.
So, if I was phrasing it for a tech startup up,
I would say, we talked to the major stakeholders.
We brainstormed the business idea.
We did ideation.
We went out, we talked to potential customers
and we took an idea and turned it into an actual business.
We helped them start it up and that type of pitch
would have appealed to startup founders
that have raised money, but haven't built
an actual business yet.
If I was talking to another publisher,
I would say we worked with Penguin and we helped them
spin out this whole new initiative.
We actually used a lot of their back catalog
and we were able to turn it into this new business.
We could do something similar for you.
If they're a competitor to Penguin,
maybe Simon and Schuster, they're gonna perk up
when they hear what we've done for their competitor.
If we're talking to any corporation,
let's say they're outside of startups
but they're, maybe, a Fortune 500 company,
we would say something like,
we worked with this major publishing brand
and the idea actually started with the director of marketing
and, internally at our company,
we helped that director of marketing build the documentation
he needed to sell it through to the tech team,
to get a tech team on board.
And then, using the information
that we built together with them,
they were able to sell it through, sell it up the chain
and get buy-in from their higher ups
for this new cooking initiative.
Two more, enterprise IT, we would say something like,
we took four different legacy databases,
we had to build an API that connected them all together
and then had them all feed into this front end.
The biggest challenge for us
was we were dealing with these four different
legacy code bases and we had to do a full code review
before we could do anything.
There were very few comments.
It looked like it was built by five different coding teams
over the course of 20 years.
And, the last one, if you're talking to a restaurant,
so it was really cool, we got to pull in information
from Gordon Ramsey, Jamie Oliver,
Wolfgang Puck's recipes were in there.
Rachel Ray.
It was so cool to see all of these different chefs
come together for this project.
So, the key to reframing these case studies
is to find elements of each one that would appeal
to the target customer and then highlighting those.
You don't necessarily need to have a specific case study
for every industry, but you can use
your current case studies to break into new industries
using this strategy.
This year our goal is to hit a 100,000 subscribers.
So, if you could share this video with a friend or two
that you think would get value out of it,
that would be hugely helpful.
And, if you need marketing support for your digital agency,
check out out experiment27.com.
Thanks.

How to Talk about Winter Weather and the Winter Season with Advanced English - Duration: 10:22.Hi I'm Anne Marie with Speak Confident English and welcome to this week's
Confident English lesson. Today I'll be answering a question that I received by
email just a few weeks ago. In that email Ahmad said, "Hi Anne Marie, thank you very
much for your emails and classes in English (you're super welcome.) but I would
like to hear from you on how to talk about the winter season. I don't have
good words to use when I speak about it, for example the positive points. Ahmad
that was a great question and I love it for two reasons: number one my goal is
always to help you have the language you need to speak with confidence and to
speak naturally in English. So if you want to talk about the winter season
more easily in English, more naturally, than I'm excited to help you do that. And
number two, where I live it is the dead of winter so it's the perfect time to
talk about this subject.
The dead of winter. That expression might give you an idea of how some people feel
about the winter season. This idiom means to be in the middle of winter when it is
the coldest darkest period of the year and for many this idiom describes how
the winter looks and feels. So for those of you who right now do not live in a
country with a winter season - maybe you're in Australia, New Zealand, Brazil,
Argentina - and maybe you're wondering right now it's the middle of summer so
could you say it's the dead of summer? Absolutely not. We never use that
expression when we're talking about the summertime. Summer is full of life and
warmth, everything is in bloom, so instead we say the height of summer. So for those
of you in the southern hemisphere where it's warm and wonderful right now, you
are experiencing the height of summer while many of us up north are in the
dead of winter. Now of course there are many people who love the winter season.
They find it invigorating and full of activities. And then there are others,
like me, who are simply waiting for the season to pass. Now as I said there are
people who really love the winter season, like my husband. For them the winter is a
time full of exciting sports and the winter chill gives them a bolt of energy.
A winter chill is a feeling of being really cold and often you're shivering.
Shivering is that uncontrollable movement or shaking of your body when
you're really cold. Some people like that winter chill. Why? I
have no idea but again for them it sparks life and invigorates them. Now
there are a couple of other ways we can talk about the feeling of cold air in
the winter in a more positive way for example, we might say that the air is
brisk or the air is crisp. In the last few years during the winter season
Americans have become obsessed with a Danish word and concept.
This word is hygge (and I'm probably mispronouncing it if I am I'm so sorry
feel free to correct me) but this concept if I understand it correctly is focused
on the idea of coziness, that feeling of warmth and comfort. With this idea in the
winter we think of warm fires, drinking hot chocolate, wrapping ourselves in
blankets, chunky knit sweaters and just being at home and comfortable. Now a
chunky knit sweater is one of those thick, heavy, warm sweaters that we wear
on the coldest days of the year. This is the perfect weather for those lazy
weekends when you just want to read your favorite book or do some binge watching
on Netflix. For those of us who live in winter seasons with a lot of snow we of
course think of winter sports like skiing downhill skiing or cross-country
skiing. There's snowshoeing sledding and even
snowkiting. Snowkiting. Have you ever heard of snowkiting? To be honest I had
never heard of it until very recently but it has become my husband's brand-new
hobby. Snowkiting is when you use a board like
a snowboard and you glide across the snow or the ice
using kite power. All of these sports provide a great workout of course and
they often give us an adrenaline rush. An adrenaline rush is that sudden burst of
energy and excitement that we get with an increase of our adrenaline hormone
and some people love that feeling, they can't wait for the winter to arrive so
they can dive into those favorite sports and get that adrenaline rush. And then
you have people like me who prefer to just stay home in that cozy feeling and
wait for the winter to end. For those who don't like the winter season because the
days are so short and dark they might find the winter season to be very bleak -
it means empty or barren, to not have any warmth or life. And we're always jealous
of people who live in that southern hemisphere where it's the height of
summer. For us that winter chill doesn't feel invigorating or full of energy. Nope.
Instead for us it might feel raw, biting, or harsh. These are all words that we use
to describe a feeling that is really unpleasant or something that makes us
feel uncomfortable for example a biting wind or a harsh wind. And speaking of
wind, for us it isn't crisp giving us that burst of excitement.
Instead the wind for us is howling. A howl is the sound that a dog makes when
it's injured or in pain so if you imagine the wind sounding like that it
has that strong sound and we can almost hear how cold the wind feels. And on
those coldest days you have to brace yourself just to go outside. To brace
yourself means to prepare or get ready to do something
that is really unpleasant or challenging. Now of course people who don't like the
winter can still appreciate those days when you look outside and it's just a
winter wonderland. A winter wonderland is a scene when you look outside
after hours of snowfall and everything is white and perfect, beautiful and it's
so quiet. But then unfortunately those huge snow plow trucks come and they plow
the snow from the roads, they remove the snow. And at that point the snow becomes
dirty and brown and slushy. Slush is melted or watery snow. And finally, yes
even though we don't like the winter, we do also appreciate that idea of hygge,
that warmth and comfort, sitting somewhere cozy and wonderful. But we only
do it because we have to. We stay inside to avoid freezing our butts off and we
try to find the new best Netflix series for some binge watching. (Side note: right
now my favorite Netflix show is The Crown. If you haven't watched it yet
I definitely recommend it.) But let's get back to the winter. Now that you have
some language to talk about the good the bad and a little bit of the ugly during
the winter season I want to hear from you. I want to know what you love or
don't like so much about the winter season where you live. As always I do
have some challenge questions for you in the online lesson, so after you watch
this video take the opportunity to practice using some of this new language,
learn from others in the Confident English Community and even get feedback
by sharing your thoughts and ideas in the comments section
at the bottom of the lesson. And if you enjoyed today's video be sure to give it
a thumbs up on YouTube or share it on Facebook. Those are two perfect ways to
let me know that this lesson was useful to you. And with that no matter where you
live, I hope that you have a wonderful week full of warmth and comfort and I'll
see you next week for your Confident English lesson.

Trung Quốc Thâm Nhập Hy Lạp Ra Sao | Trung Quốc Không Kiểm Duyệt - Duration: 10:52.On this episode of China Uncensored,
how the Chinese Communist Party is infiltrating Greece.
Hi, welcome to China Uncensored.
I'm Chris Chappell.
What do you do when you're burdened by debt
and on the verge of bankruptcy?
You move back into your parents basement
or if you're a country, you ask China for help.
And that's exactly what Greece is doing.
But when you're feeling desperate,
do you really make the wisest choices?
Shelly Zhang reports from Athens.
Thanks Chris.
Greece, the cradle of Western civilization,
home of gorgeous islands,
big fat weddings
and a pantheon of gods straight out of a daytime soap opera.
And also the worst government debt crisis in any developed country.
One that led to 13 rounds of spending cuts,
a new government
and 30,000 euros of debt for every Greek citizen.
Greece needed a hero
and an unlikely one emerged to save the day...
sort of,
the Chinese Communist Party.
For decades, the party has wanted to get a political foothold in Europe.
But it's been difficult because of the European Union's powerful influence.
But in late 2009,
Greece entered an era best described as
"Holy Zeus we have no more money!"
It became clear that Greece might not be able
to pay back those billions of dollars
it had borrowed from the rest of the EU.
So it was basically a situation
where after the Greek financial crisis,
nobody wanted to swipe right on Greece anymore?
Nobody wanted to lend money to the Greek government anymore.
john Psaropolous is an independent journalist
who has covered Greece for two decades.
He says that as the EU backed off from Greece,
China started to move in.
Think of it as a friendship
within the generation of people
who go back at least 3,000 years.
Hmm, yes, let's be friends because we have so much in common, babe.
Like we haven't heard that one before
am i right ladies?
The CCP's courtship started in about 2009
but it got serious in 2015
after the Greeks elected Alexis Tsipras as Prime Minister.
At first, the CCP was concerned
because Tsipras' party was radical leftist,
they were afraid Greece might not be open to Chinese investment anymore.
And the CCP knows better than anyone
- never trust a communist.
But it turned out there was mutual affection,
Tsipras was very interested in Chinese investment.
Hey just because we're both communists
doesn't mean we can't make a little profit right?
Prime Minister Tsipras immediately bent over backwards to be friends with China.
Just 24 days after taking office,
Tsipras welcomed a Chinese warship to the Greek port of Piraeus.
He told Chinese officials that
he wants Greece to serve as China's gateway into Europe
Tsipras even flew to China twice.
Once in 2016 and then again in 2017.
Look, I know it looks like the same trip.
But Tsipras only owns one nice outfit, okay?
Greece is short on cash.
Behind me is Piraeus port, just outside Athens.
It's the largest port in Greece
and one of the largest in the Mediterranean.
In 2016, the Greek government allowed Chinese state-owned shipping giant - Cosco
to buy a 51% stake here
for three hundred and thirty million dollars.
Within five years, they will own 67%.
Costco had already been renting part of the port since 2008.
Now they effectively own it.
The Chinese government is building Piraeus
into a key gateway to move Chinese products
into the rest of Europe.
They call it a "Dragon Head" for the One Belt One Road initiative
the series of massive infrastructure projects
that aims to export Chinese goods around the world.
I visited the Dockworkers Union
and sat down with Giorgos Gogos.
We took the management of a very profitable organization
in a very strategic place in Mediterranean Sea.
for a very low price.
Yes, Chinese people know a good deal when they see one.
But Mr. Gogos is concerned
that letting a Chinese company take over the Greek port
was maybe not such a great idea.
Sure, things are a lot more efficient from Costco's perspective .
They've cut salaries dramatically
and moved a lot of full-time workers to being on-call.
But the work is more demanding and with less job security.
I think it's a big mistake from European Union
and the Americans
that are leaving space for Chinese companies to enter.
But we are too small to deal with these things.
Even captain Fu Chen Chow, the Chinese guy who runs the port,
admitted that selling Piraeus port to Costco
maybe wasn't such a smart move on Greece's part.
Apart from this, he said that in China,
we wouldn't privatize such a port because it's a big asset.
But Chinese investment doesn't stop at the port,
I think Cosco has opened the door.
It's a state-owned company, it has deep pockets,
it has a close relationship with the government.
That signals to other Chinese companies
that if their investment does well,
Greece is okay to invest in.
In December last year,
China bought a 24% stake in Greece's public power grid operator.
While Prime Minister Tsipras was in Beijing in May 2017,
he signed an agreement with a Chinese firm
that will invest half a billion dollars over seven years
to build a fiber optic telecommunications network in Greece.
And in September,
Greece honored China at the Thessaloniki International Fair.
Six thousand square feet of pavilion space
was dedicated to Chinese companies.
Now from an economic standpoint,
the relationship between China and Greece over the last few years
has been mostly positive.
Who doesn't love cheap handbags made in China?
And millennia of Greek history made in China?
Even Mr. Gogos' Union,
which has had issues with Cosco in the past
is willing to work with the Chinese
as long as they are willing to adapt.
I think now, if they want to have a better face in Greek society,
we have to respect certain things.
And among these things
are labor relations, environmental issues
and national sovereignty of the country.
So could this become a friendship
that's mutually respectful and beneficial?
Well, like every friends with benefits relationship,
it eventually gets complicated,
am i right ladies?
Well, the political ramifications of China's investments in Greece remain to be seen.
At the moment it's just business.
But business is never just business forever,
particularly what it is, a state condemned.
There's growing concern in Europe over Greece's relationship with China.
It's kind of like watching your best friends start dating this guy.
Let's just say the CCP might not be in the best influence.
For example, in July 2016,
Greece was one of only two EU countries
that sided with the CCP after a controversial South China Sea court ruling.
And in June 2017,
Greece stopped the EU from condemning the CCP's human rights abuses.
And then opposed the EU
doing tougher screenings of Chinese investments in Europe.
So there is a European concern now,
about what the pattern of Chinese investments going to be?
How much power Chinese investments will have,
taken as a whole, as a sum.
Now ironically, it was the EU that had forced Greece to privatize,
to sell off some of their state-owned assets
as part of their debt repayment.
But now that the buyer is the CCP,
the EU is having sellers remorse.
Now China isn't just investing in Greece,
but in many other Eastern European countries as well.
And that's causing enough alarm for the EU
to take a closer look at these deals.
Meanwhile, Greece is still a little upset at the EU
so they're not exactly taking the EU's warning seriously.
I don't think that the Greeks are afraid of too much Chinese influence
at the moment.
They're happy to have a country, a major country
an upcoming superpower, really, in the world,
been interested in them,
and have seen Greece is a promising place.
That's always nice to be nice.
It's always nice to be nice,
particularly when your old friend criticize you.
And the chinese have seen that opportunity,
they've seen the changing psychology in Greece.
that isn't lost for them.
Look, I understand,
it's been a tough few years you've lost a lot of jobs,
you're going through a big recession
you've gained a few million extra pounds of... debt
and here comes this exciting new guy.
He definitely wants a strategic investment partner with benefits kind of relationship.
And you have a lot in common,
like you're both ancient civilizations.
And everything's going fine.
He doesn't care about your bad reputation,
he's showering you with investments.
And okay, your friends are trying to warn you about this guy
but they don't know him like you do.
And no, he didn't ask you to stop them from
pointing out his human rights problems.
That's just what you do when you're in a relationship, right?
Look, I'm not telling you to break up with him,
that's your business.
I'm saying you're like 3,000 years old.
It's time to pull yourself together,
you've got to figure out if this is the kind of relationship you really want.
Just think about it, okay?
Or not?
Thanks Shelly for taking time out of your vacation to do this story.
Look like you had a really marvelous time.
I crack myself up.
So what do you think of Greece's relationship with China,
friends with benefits or something more?
