The sun never shines here! - BERLIN ep 1 - Duration: 15:39.
Hi everyone, welcome back and welcome to Berlin!
You're probably wondering: "Marco, what the hell are you doing in Berlin?"
Well, I had the chance to come to this
new, charming european capital I've never been to, so here I am!
I just landed, the flight was fine, we took off from Treviso
so all the usual trains and busses and stuff
I literally spent twice the time I spent on the plane on busses and trains
'cause the flight only lasted little more than an hour
Forgive the shaky footage, but I'm looking for the metro
I bought the ticket, zones ABC, that should take me downtown
I'm a little lost, 'cause I don't know the city, it's my first time here, so... For now, let's see what happens
this is the worse part of travelling, when you're tired from hours of planes, trains, busses
and you sill have to take more trains, busses and whatnot to get downtown
but, I made it to Berlin's central station, whose name I won't even try to pronounce
it's a nice station, with shops and restaurants, I want to give a look around
I also have to check the train's timetable, as I'll be leaving early in the morning
they were stopping a traing right underneath here
So, there's a lot of stuff here, I might end up eating here, but first I want to get to the hostel
There we go, I found the hostel, it is like 200m from here, perfect
looks kinda nice, I just stopped to drop the bag, my 3 roomates looked like spanish or something
haven't socialized, not that kind of guy
I'm back to the station, as you can hear and see behind me
I got myself a curry wurst. Forgive me, but my german is terrible
still, better than my swedish
All this intro was just to show you the "behind the scenes", 'cause I like to take you with me in all the small things
the travel before the travel, the infinte kilometers before getting to the destination
That said, well... See you tomorrow!
Good morning! The sky is gray today in Berlin
The night was... kinda... bad.
Haven't slept much, the hostel was noisy and my roomates got back at like 3 am
well, hostel life, we know how it is...
Anyway, I'm hungry, so let's go find something for breakfast
maybe a typical german breakfast
beacuse I got a quite packed plan for today, across a good portion of the city
so without further ado, let's get to the central station from where we'll begin this tour
Bitter coffe to wake up, a don't-even-know-what as big as my face and full of sugar for energy
and I sill haven't figured out how the metro works here in Berlin
Metro, busses, whatever, it's all togheter
I don't know, hopefully I'll catch the train to get back to the airport
What then? Well, let's change plans, if I can't get the metro, I'll walk
First stop: Reichtag palace. Or, at least, I think that's how it's pronounced
Which is completely close, I thought was a little easier to get in and gie a lokk, but if you haven't bboked you can't get in
At the top, there's a dome, you can't see it from here, a glass dome and if you have booked the visit, you can get in there for free and enjoy the view
I haven't booked, so Reichtag's dome for me
But it's not really a loss, because there's quite some fog today and you can't even see the TV tower which is back there
so, yeah, no Reichtag' dome, let's move on!
A cold, humid, gloomy day like today is... weirdly appropriate to visit the Memorial
It's kinda creepy, but still interesting
It's not super cold today, yeah, it's humid and gloomy, but I shot in way worse conditions
still, I've already drained one battery... oh welll...
Meanwhile, I'm in Gendarmen...markt, yes, Gendarmenmarkt, I really can't pronounce these german names
This place is pecualiar, because there are two twin churches
One is german luteran and the other is frenche reformed, if i remember correctly
plus another building in the middle, and I have to say, it's pretty charming
Right now I'm in Babel Platz, renowed for being the place where the nazis set books on fire
Our stroll in downtown Berlin has took us to Musems Island, and behind me you can see the Cathedral
which, in this gray weather, stands out with its dark tones, golden accents and green copper domes
I'd say it looks better in this bad weather
Anyway, be careful about all these people in high visibility jackets trying to sell you sightseeing tours
In my opinion, most of them are a fraud
I'm taking my time, walking, it's not even midday yet and I've already seen a lot, so
I'd say you can save the money and enjoy the city better!
A warning: Pergamon museum is still under renovations
Too bad, because I kinda wanted to visit it, it looks the more appealing to me
but they're still working so I probably won't visit... I was thinking about visiting a couple museums but... We'll see
Funny story: I was walking by the Bode museum, i stopped to take a few shots here and there
and I got the mean look by two hipsters taking pictures with a film camera
like "look at that capitalist", or something like that
Guys, I started by taking pictures on film, so many years ago you probably weren't born yet!
I just visited the Hakaschen Hofe, or something like that
a series of interconnected courtyards, yeah it's the tram, in the former ghetto, and I found them to be slightly overrated
but a few steps away from the Hakashen Hofe there is the Central Kino
a sort of social center full of street art, stickers, all kind of weird stuff
I should have spent more time in it, but I want to push on on today's programme
We've arrived in Alexander Platz, and finally there's someone, I was starting to think the city was empty, but it seems they're all here!
I probably have altready shot it a dozen times, but here's the TV tower
whose top is lost in the fog. You can get on the top, the ticker is 7 euros, I think
but I'm not gonna waste 7 euros to lokk at the mist
so I'm skipping it too...
If you have the canche and 7 euros, this is a good lookout point!
Let's conclude this long stroll in Berlin in the Nikolai district
the oldest residential area in the city
The sun is setting and the light fading but i still managed to get to the Tiergarten
a huge park right after Brandeburg Gate, basically where I started this morning
full of monuments, I almost forgot what I was saying
I haven't been here this morning, damn traffic, because I didn't plan to come here... lots of traffic here
I thought I wouldn't make it in one day, but there is still a little bit of light, so let's have a look at some of the monuments
you can see one right behind me, let's see what can we get before dark
an then... we'l get back to the hostel
I must be honest, I did underestimated the size of the Tiergarten, it is really, really huge
I saw only a small portion, and I have to say that, even if this is not the right season to visit
in spring and summer it should be really nice, so... if you come here in spring or summer go for a walk, and be prepared to walk a lot!
Now, once again, I'm at the central station because it got dark and this is the only place witho some light exept the hostel
which is a mess even worse than the station, so it's more quiet here
plus there are restaurants. Honestly, I thought there will be more restaurants in the surrounding, but there are not
Today I managed to see everything I had planned, I walked way too many kilometers
but it's fine, I saved some money and still I can't figure out how public transport works here...
Doesn't matter... Tomorrow I have some more places I want to see that are quite away from each other, so I might have to take the metro
That is all for today from Berlin and, as always, I'll see you in the next vide!

I'll try after consulting with my wife.

Why Super Mario Odyssey Was Rated Ages 12+ - Duration: 3:28.
Super Mario Odyssey is the latest game in the mainline Mario series.
The game is similar to its predecessors but also marks a return back to the open-ended
gameplay, previously seen in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine.
This approach has led it to be called the best game in the series by many critics and
it has also become the fastest selling Mario game ever in the US and Europe.
Whilst the classic Mario style and charm has been left very much intact, the title also
holds the distinction of being the only Mario game to ever be rated 12+ in its home country
of Japan, with all previous games being rated for all ages.
This baffled some fans, with some joking that perhaps it was being able to see Mario's nipples
that caused the bump in rating.
The games producer has spoken about the matter in an interview however and has given a more
likely explanation for this difference in rating.
Speaking to the Japanese website 4Gamer, he explained:
"The rating boards may have raised the classification because there are tanks in the game that are
drawn more realistically.
But despite no longer having the "all ages" ratings, Nintendo never has the intention
to make a game aimed specifically for children or adults.
" What is referred to here is the tank transformation
that Mario can take and use to fight off enemies.
Mario has many different types of things he can transform into and one of these is a green
tank that, with the exception of Mario's big red hat placed on top, looks pretty realistic.
It is possible that this war-like element is what caused the rating increase, but as
the producer explained, "Nintendo never has the intention to make a game aimed specifically
for children or adults".
The ESRB on the other hand rated the game with an E10+ rating.
This isn't the first Mario game to be rated E10+, but it is pretty rare that a Mario game
doesn't get the lower E for everyone classification.
The ESRB's rating summary also speaks about the tanks as being one of the reasons for
the rating, saying: "During one boss encounter, players can capture
a "cartoony" tank and fire cannonballs at a mechanical boss; large explosions are
depicted as the boss is defeated."
It is likely this that earned the game its "Cartoon Violence" content descriptor.
The UK's Video Standards Council however, who administer Europe's PEGI ratings in the
UK, didn't mention the tanks at all and rated the game 7+.
This is still higher than PEGI's 3+ rating though, which would be the equivalent to the
ESRB's E rating and Japan's A rating.
In the Content Specific Issues section, they state:
"Besides the well-known Mario platformer action, this game contains violence and content that
raises the game to the PEGI 7 level.
One of the boss battles takes place in a nightmarish setting in which you need to climb a destroyed
tower to confront a realistic looking dragon.
This dragon has glowing eyes, sharp teeth and looks rather realistic.
You need to dodge its lasers and circular saw lasers to remove pins from its head and
stop him once this is done."
It seems that unlike the tank battles referenced elsewhere, it was the dragon boss fight that
caused the most concern with the Video Standards Council.
This is a boss fight where Mario faces off against a rather menacing, realistic looking
dragon.
This could have been seen as intense and possibly frightening for young children and so the
rating was raised slightly higher.
What do you think of Super Mario Odyssey's higher rating?

I don't have a girlfriend.
We finished it.
Bye.
(I'll get going since we're done.)
(Alice leaves just like that.)
(The cookies taste so bitter today.)
Let's take your cold medicine.
Put it in. Hurry.
(I'll beat the bitter taste with medicine.)
- Good. Wow. / - I'm done.
Let's turn off the light.
I feel
so relaxed staying at a temple
instead of in the city.
How do you feel?
- I like it. / - Do you?
(I like Alice.)

How To Learn A New Accent! 🇬🇧 🇫🇷 #ad - Duration: 7:06.
Hi I'm Joel and I'm Lia and today's video is all about the quickest way to
learn a new accent so today's video is really exciting it's very kindly been
sponsored by the Real Accent App and we're really lucky that we're working
with them because we've actually been a big fan of their apps for quite a while
yeah we already own and use the USA version of their app and the
English version yeah but very recently they released two new ones they released
the Celtic nations and the European app. Both are accents that I think neither us are
that familiar with I'm certainly not very familiar with either of them Celtic
accents or European. The Greek accent on the European app I'm familiar with
because my family are Greek so I loved listening to that part. So this app
is super handy especially for professional actors who need to nail an
accent before they go into an audition or stepping into a role yeah it feels a
little bit like having an accent coach but just in your pocket on your phone so
whereas before probably you'd have to call up a friend and be like "ahh do we know
anyone who's got a Scottish accent?" it's just like having real
people from that area it's just amazing can't recommend it enough
yeah so I think a real selling point of the app is the word real that's in the
title because all the accents are on the app are from real people that actually
speak that accent yeah so the developers don't sit in their studio and just
record what they think an Edinburgh accent sounds like they actually go to
the place, they speak to real people they'll record a male a female and then
maybe someone older so you can get a real variation of the same accent so
I've chosen an accent from the Celtic nations app, I'm going to be working on
a Scottish accent and more specifically an Edinburgh accent and I've chosen an
accent from the European app and I've decided to go with French we want to see
if we can learn a new accent in two days so what we've done is we filmed
ourselves saying three sentences before using the app and three sentences after
practicing for a couple of hours 48 hours later. "Edinburgh is the capital of
Scotland" "Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland"
so the next sentence is something that you will only really hear in Scotland it's
something very specific and it means you're looking a bit weird you're
looking a bit off-colour or ill "you're looking a bit peely whally" "you're looking
a bit peely whally" the next sentence is something that highlights the "oo" vowel in
Scottish which i think is a really fun sound that they have so I'll give it a
go "the gloomy group of suitors were moved by the beautiful moon" "the gloomy
group of suitors were moved by the beautiful moon" as we know I've chosen
French so here we go with my three sentences one of them's going to be
informative and two of them are going to be to do with specific vowel sounds okay
"often people discriminate against a French accent"
"often people discriminate against a French accent" so the next sentence has
got the H sound in it which I've heard is quite difficult for the French so
here we go "this is my house" "this is my house" and the last sentence
is using the th sound "the tuck shop is over there"
"the tuck shop is over there" so I think what was really interesting whilst
learning and spending time on the work was the things that actually really make
a huge difference are really tiny changes like for instance with the French I was
learning that the H sound is sort of dropped entirely so instead of 'house' it
was 'house' so for me that was quite a nice discovery along the way
definitely and the other thing was just sort of going for it yeah oh definitely
I think for me Scottish is an accent that I have never really done my
automatic thing is to tell people no I can't do Scottish I can't do it but I've
just learned that the only way you're gonna get better at an accent is by
practicing and putting the work in and it's not perfect yet I still need to
work on it a bit more but for two days work you know I think that's pretty good
that's pretty damn good I think. What would you say your favourite thing is on the app. I've really liked the real
stories so you know at the end of when you've worked through at the end there's
a thing that says real stories and basically they interviewed each
different person who speaks with that accent and it's probably about five to
ten minutes per person they just give their life story I
really love that it's all on auto play so you can just have it on repeat while
you're on public transport or while you're in the car and it's also good
because it doesn't just help you listen to someone with the accent but because
they talk about their life in Scotland and in it in Edinburgh you sort of learn
a bit about the culture and the city as well see you're not just learning about
the accent you're learning about the real people that live there I think for
learning the best thing on the app is the record and compare feature so you
type your name in so I typed Lia and then I practice listening to a native
speaker saying a sentence and then I just record myself saying that same
sentence and I'm able to listen back to how good or how bad I was yeah I think
that's the hardest part isn't it is when you haven't quite made that standard yet
yeah but you have to acknowledge that you're learning and that you're
gonna sound rubbish to begin with yeah definitely and then by the end of it
you're just playing theirs and playing yours and you're like I sound pretty much the
same yeah I think the most helpful thing that I've been telling myself is that no
one has to hear this well now they do because it's on YouTube which is why it's so
scary because you make yourself vulnerable and you're like oh no people
are gonna hear me doing something that I'm not good at but when you're
practicing at home you can just be saying to yourself yeah I'm probably
gonna sound stupid for a bit but no one's gonna hear it I'm only sounding
stupid to myself so that takes the pressure off a bit I think and the other
thing I've noticed is that it's very easy to go quieter because you're scared
that you're gonna amplify your mistakes if you if you speak on voice any louder
so just sort of being able to just have a go at it loudly loud and proud yeah
you should fail spectacularly or not try at all. definitely that's the perfect attitude
to have. So thanks once again to the developers of the Real Accent App for
having us try this yeah it's really fun. As we said we've been using this app for years so we're
really excited to finally be able to work with them and I'm pretty sure that
they're working on an Africa app at the moment which will be insane
please let us know in the comments if you enjoyed this video if you like this style and we
would love to hear if you're learning any accents at the minute yeah what
you're dealing with if you've you tried this app definitely we will link them
down in the description below you can find their apps on the App Store it
works both with Android and with Apple devices so you're covered there definitely
leave us a like and a comment and we'll see you next time thank you, Bye!
