Understanding Song of Myself by Walt Whitman - Duration: 8:32.

this is video part 3 if you didn't remember before February I did a

two-part video where I read song of myself' it is two and a half hours long

and it is a single hole some old guy went to go live in the

woods for a year and you came up with a really long stupid poem that is that

what I can't be bombastic I just can't is tan solid my self is a poem by

American poet Walt Whitman published in the book blades of grass this poem is so

long that it's had several different names throughout the years and might

just read like Twitter song myself is a poem about Walt Whitman but also the

self but also a lot of things because Walt woman did not stick to a single

topic he switches all the time it might be not unlike trying to read through

someone's Twitter threats there's still a common theme in there of myself and my

experiences and the people that I'm describing but it's they are but parts

and everything is but apart but it's not like cohesive it's not what you think it

was a poem it's also not rhyme II overly lyrical or all that that word abstract

like it uses a couple old kind of words and might be the first instant us of the

word muggle which I cannot find a definition before Harry Potter but this

poem was written in 1800 so I'm confused / muggle what why is that there even

though it's a bit old and uses some kind of old words it is still a plain spoken

kind of text you can get in and read it and know generally what the guy is

saying probably the only obstacle to this poem which is just how large it is

it is both big and and both those words are necessary to

describe it what woman goes from talking about the leaves of grass appropriately

and then moves on to things like being a fisherman being a fur trapper and

marrying a Native American girl possibly without her consent being black being

liked being in the Alamo being an in a vieng mex ican being in the army being

you being Walt Whitman listening to God ignoring God's letters everywhere signed

clearly by God why are we just leaving them here he's leaving them for you the

poem contains multitudes summed up by the fray do I contradict myself very

well I contradict myself I contain multitudes and so does his poem his poem

contains multitudes not to mention it's from a historical perspective it's a

world where there hasn't has not been a world war yet he's pre-world War one he

mentions two battles one is a Navy ship and one is the army at the Alamo and he

references the Alamo I like

no one references the Alamo and historical Wars it's so I'm sure it's

mentioned but like no one actively brings it up unless you live in Texas

which I did ask a Texan about the Alamo and he seemed oddly proud of it

similarly bright Lindsay Ella's pointed out a weird thing with bright where the

Mex ican characters mentions that Mex icans still get for the Alamo no they

don't point is this is a fresh thing to his

mind and to people it's a war that was just 30 years ago like 30 years from now

or from before we barely remember that cuz we are currently into horse our

rewards we are currently in mucky Warren like conditions

and it has some really great lines I stamp a perpetual journey

I see ever so far and there is a limitless space outside of that I count

it and there is limitless time outside of that though the shadow coaxes me to

depart I will go and I will be part of the grass and part of the dirt if you

want to look for me look under your boot and if you want you can just pick up in

the middle of it just like read and Twitter president sucks all these

talkers are just talking one day I will be but dirt and the grass and you could

find me under your boot some Sport metaphor I think what song of myself is

trying to express is a journey like most thing in song of myself' the poem tells

you you don't you don't have to do a lot of abstract guessing it will tell you

what it I am NOT tamed I am not translatable who will finish their

supper and come walk with me he tells the reader that they are already on a

path on a journey they might not have noticed that they were born there that

they were walking but it is a journey and he says come after me come find me

if I'm not in one place look for another I'll wait for you missing me in one

place search another I wait for you somewhere it's a pretty great poem about

all around acceptance and non judgment and contradictions and just accepting

all of it and thinking that it's okay listening to all sides of all of the

talkers and sorting them out for yourself it's a poem that really wants

you to do the heavy lifting but also is alright if you don't and it's just kind

of nice though it does shirk the Mack I lead men and woman to a journey null my

left hand around your waist my right hand pointing to some mountain or

continent I cannot travel this journey for you it's a fan

basically encouraging poem

What Is Schizophrenia Anyways? - Duration: 3:11.

Hey there!

Welcome to Life Noggin.

Mental health is important.

Just like some of my human friends have conditions that can be more easily seen on the outside,

others have conditions that affect them mentally.

One of these conditions is Schizophrenia.

Schizophrenia is described as a severe and chronic mental disorder that can affect different

parts of a person's life, such as how they think, feel, and make decisions.

Often showing up in their late teens or 20s, individuals with schizophrenia often have

a different interpretation of what they believe to be reality.

Compared to other mental disorders, it is not very common, but it can be a pretty severe

disorder.

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, the main symptoms of schizophrenia

fall under one of three categories; positive symptoms, negative symptoms, and cognitive

symptoms.

Positive symptoms include psychotic behaviors not generally seen in people without schizophrenia,

such as hallucinations, delusions, and agitated body movements.

Negative symptoms disrupt the a person's behaviors and emotions, such as reduced speaking, difficulty

starting activities, and less pleasure in everyday life.

Cognitive symptoms include trouble paying attention and using information to make decisions.

So once it's figured out that someone has schizophrenia, what is treatment like?

Well, since it's a chronic condition that doesn't have a cure, it requires lifelong

treatment.

Common treatments include antipsychotic medications and psychotherapy.

Antipsychotic medications are typically a daily pill or liquid, but can sometimes be

injections given once or twice a month.

Psychotherapy is usually a step taken after a patient is put on an effective medication

regime, and teaches people coping skills to help address whatever challenges they still

face with schizophrenia.

And even better treatments might be on the horizon!

According to a recent press release, scientists have unraveled the molecular structure of

risperidone, an often prescribed antipsychotic, docked in its D2 dopamine receptor.

It's allowed scientists to have the chance at understanding how some antipsychotic drugs

bind to their primary molecular target in the human brain.

Their discovery might just pave the way for a new generation of antipsychotic drugs that

can better treat mental illnesses like schizophrenia, with the hope of more desirable outcomes and

fewer side effects.

Currently, common side effects and risks associated with antipsychotics include things like weight

gain and movement disorders, so reducing or getting rid of the chance for these could

be great for the treatment process.

Going back to our friends at the National Institute of Mental Health, they have some

advice for supporting or caring for someone with schizophrenia.

Help them get treatment and encourage them to stick with it.

Maybe even find some support groups if you can.

Remember that their beliefs and hallucinations can feel very real to them, so do your best

to acknowledge their thoughts and feelings with kindness and respect!

I do love it when you humans help each other.

So have you are anyone you've known been affected by schizophrenia?

If you're comfortable with sharing, let me know in the comments below

If you wanna learn more, check out the video we did on what it's like to have ADHD.

it can be common to have times of inattention, sporadic motor activity, or even times of

impulsivity, but for most people with ADHD these times are far more severe and frequent.

As always my name is Blocko.

Grand Gala des Patrons 2018 - Duration: 1:53.

It is, of course, a dazzling evening so far.

People are welcomed really nice outside, with all kinds of small snacks.

Especially in this format. People are very enthusiastic and ...

... it is a nice sign for the Patrons.

Tonight is a pleasant chaos.

And ultimately everything that goes to the tables is great.

If you look at what your colleagues make, that is all really high level.

Yes, I think it is really great to be part of the club.

We are still a rare kind of people we cooks.

I also notice it here today, they are all peacocks together.

And yes, I think that is great fun.

I mean ... it is really a tight group.

They do not see each other, of course, every week, I think.

You just notice that there is a lot of fun.

Also that they just want to put quality in.

What everyone stands for, that is nice to see.

Certainly with such an evening, 265 guests that is quite something.

Right? Yes.

It is nothing else than meeting your friends and guests here.

And ensure that they have an unforgettable afternoon and evening.

And that is just great, with 23 chefs cooking like that and being together once a year.

And do beautiful things and spoil your guests. There is nothing better.

Everyone has different dishes and their own snacks. Everyone has their own thing.

And you meet each other and that is what it is about. That is it, the friendship.

I am advertising you ... !!

More and more Swiss renounce their inheritance - Duration: 4:16.

-More and more Swiss people are choosing to refuse an inheritance.

The technical term is "disclaiming" an inheritance.

Nicole and her sister were confronted with this when their father died.

Years of a medical care home ate away at their parents' savings,

and two bills remained to be paid after both parents had passed away.

-Collection proceedings were started

before my father went into the home.

These bills, for CHF 7,500, gave me pause.

-So should she accept the inheritance or not?

She faced a lack of information.

-You don't know where to get help.

I contacted my legal assistance,

she couldn't do anything with it.

Since we didn't know what to do, we disclaimed the inheritance.

-Disclaim is a harsh word, but it's not viewed as it once was.

In 5 years, while the increase in deaths follows that of the population,

the rise in inheritance renunciations has shot up by 30%.

More than 5,800 cases in 2015.

A trend backed up in Fribourg by the body that deals with such cases.

-If the situation is clear,

if there's no money,

or if it's borderline, it's better to renounce.

It's not expensive, it costs CHF 100; CHF 150 with costs.

-A disclaimed inheritance is equivalent to bankruptcy.

So the bankruptcy authority handles the dossiers.

In Fribourg, they are held in the bankruptcy authority's archives.

-These 2 floors represent one year of disclaimed inheritances.

In other words, 150 to 200 files.

-For the cantonal bankruptcy officer,

it's the relationship to debt that's changed over the last 40 years.

-There's no stigma any more,

no shame.

For others, things are tough,

they're facing debt and the inheritance will be disclaimed.

-A dossier costs the bankruptcy authority CHF 1,00 to 3,000.

To cover the costs involved,

a bailiff values the possessions of the deceased.

An example: a watchmaker whose estate was renounced.

-A disclaimed inheritance,

we had to empty his shop.

His goods are stored here until we find a buyer.

If no-one buys the job-lot for CHF 3,000, I'll put it to acution.

-Here are the office's original archives.

-The majority of disclaimed estates are in deficit,

with a cost of CHF 70,000 to 80,000 per year for the Canton

and a total loss for the creditors.

In 5 to 10% of cases there's a positive surprise.

-Last year, we found

CHF 100,000 in an account.

Which allowed us to pay off all the deceased's debts

and to hand over the amount left over.

-The money goes to the heirs, despite their renunciation.

If the estate is not in deficit,

the heirs receive the balance remaining after payment of fees.

Which is what happened to Nicole, who received CHF 4,070.

-It's a relief.

It means bankruptcy is overturned,

but it also rehabilitates the memory of our father.

-A rehabilitation witnessed in only a few cases,

while 10% of deaths result in renunciation.

What makes civilian service so attractive? - Duration: 3:53.

Luca Sanfratello is on duty, doing civilian service.

Ms. Müller, hello, it'll be time for dinner soon.

The 20-year-old assists female patients

in a rehab clinic in Bad Schinznach, Canton Aargau,

including Heidrun Müller.

He accompanies her to the restaurant or to therapy sessions.

What motivated you to do this?

Basically, I didn't want to be part of any war.

That had a major influence.

I'm very happy

that our civilian service offers a good alternative.

You can still do your bit for society.

You can help patients directly.

Luca Sanfratello realizes that he will have to spend one and a half times

longer doing civilian service than he would in the army.

Those who, like Luca Sanfratello,

are unable to reconcile military service with their conscience

have been able to do civilian service for the last 20 years.

Until 2008, a commission examined their reasons

for requesting civilian service.

The number of approved requests: 1,632.

After this examination of conscience was abolished,

the number surged to 6,720.

The cabinet then made the rules more stringent

and reduced the number of approvals temporarily to 4,670.

Since 2011 the numbers have risen again to 6,785 last year.

"Stop! Arms at the ready!",

says security politician Alois Gmür from the CVP.

He thinks the steady increase in popularity of civilian service should be halted.

Civilian service has become too attractive.

Now, everyone can more or less choose his working hours,

or when he wants to perform the service.

They can sleep at home. That's a cushy option.

If I'm in the army I sleep in army barracks

and have to do night duty and stand watch, etc.

That's not attractive.

The army is losing out to civilian service,

said a concerned Chief of the Armed Forces, Philippe Rebord, in September 2016

in front of the media.

We clearly have a problem finding recruits at the moment,

because civilian service is booming.

And it's getting even worse for the Armed Forces Chief:

More and more soldiers are leaving the military

straight after basic training and are switching to civilian service.

Their number has almost doubled since 2011.

In 2016 as many as 13.5% of trained recruits

opted for civilian service, more than one in seven.

Civilian service should be made less attractive,

the cabinet decided last November.

It wants to create new obstacles,

especially for those who have done their basic military training.

They now account for almost 40% of all civilian service personnel.

Restricting access to civilian service is a mistake,

says Lisa Mazzone, National Councillor in Geneva.

She is also Co-President of the Civilian Service Association.

They don't recognize the importance of civilian service

for our society,

especially for the ageing population.

This is where civilian service can provide valuable assistance.

And the focus is on the wrong people.

The armed forces would do better to question themselves

rather than bashing a smoothly functioning civilian service.

Luca Sanfratello's civilian service will end in March,

after 360 days of duty.

He was unable to reconcile military service with his conscience, and says

he would have chosen civilian service

even if it had lasted twice or three times as long.
