One of the most common money questions I get is,

"Rachel, I feel like I work so hard,

and I look up a week, or maybe a month later,

I'm like, where did my paycheck go?

I have no idea what's happening!"

Listen, happens to a lot of people.

But it doesn't have to happen to you anymore,

so I have a three-part plan for you to master your income.

(upbeat music)

Jumping right in to the exciting Mastering Your Income Plan.

Number one, budget!

Budget, you guys!

So many people do not do this

and it's one of the biggest money mistakes you make.

If you are not in control

and you don't happen to your money,

your money is going to happen to you.

You have to be focused on this.

Now the most efficient budget, the most accurate budget,

is a zero-based budget,

where you take your income for the month

minus all your expenses.

And I say expenses,

but I also mean giving and saving in there as well.

Everything you put money toward,

that added up, minus your income, should equal zero.

So every dollar you have coming in is assigned to a category.

And there are some great budgeting tools out there.

My favorite is EveryDollar.

It's awesome, because there's even EveryDollar Plus, and

it connects to your bank,

your transactions come in, it's fabulous.

But budgeting is so, so key, again,

for being intentional with where your money's going,

and it's gonna be tough. If you've never done this before,

give yourself 90 days to get your budget to work.

Stick with it.

It's gonna take a little adjusting, but you can get there.

Number two is to pay off debt.

So much of people's income

goes straight back out the door in payments,

'cause you have two car payments, you have credit cards,

you're still paying for your wedding, student loans,

it's just constantly money going out.

If you're not intentional about paying it off quickly,

you're gonna live in that life for decades and decades.

So, the most efficient way to get out of debt

is to list out all of your debts, smallest to largest,

regardless of the interest rate.

Pay minimum payments on all of them,

and pay off the smallest debt first.

Once that's paid off,

take everything you were paying on that,

roll it over to the second smallest debt.

Now the great thing about budgeting

is you can look at your budget and say,

"Oh, wow, we don't really need to spend that much on food,"

or, "Eh, we don't need to go shopping this month."

You can take, every month, money out of your budget to say,

"We're gonna take out some of that lifestyle

and put it toward paying off debt."

Getting out of debt frees up your income.

It gets you back in control of your income,

versus it going out to banks all over the world.

Ugh, not good.

And last but not least, save.

Save, save, save.

This is such a hard one,

because we all know we should save,

but doing it is difficult,

because a lot of people say,

"Rachel, by the time I get to the end of the month,

I don't have any money!"

Yeah, that's probably 'cause you're not budgeting

or you're not budgeting correctly.

Your saving in your budget needs to be at the top,

because once you list out all of your bills and you're like,

"Rachel, after I pay for everything,

there is no money left over!"

Well, that means you gotta cut some stuff out

to actually save.

So your goal for saving is to save up $1,000 very quickly.

Then, once you're out of debt,

bump up that $1,000 emergency fund

to three to six months of expenses.

So that's a great place to start saving.

And also, start saving for things like a car

or a vacation you know you have coming up.

Be like, "Okay, how much is that gonna cost us?

How much do we need to put away every month?"

Make saving a habit in your life.

It can be tough at first,

'cause not everyone is a natural saver,

but once you get in the habit of it,

it becomes second nature to you.

It's just what you do.

That's me.

I'm a spender, not a great natural saver,

but since I've been doing this for so long,

I'm like, no, I wanna save!

I wanna be able to save up and pay for things,

'cause I want some awesome stuff.

I wanna go on a great vacation.

So, yeah, I'm gonna save up for fun things,

and for emergency fund and retirement,

but that's for another vlog for another day.

When you're thinking about budgeting and all these things,

you're like, "Oh, there's just so many details."

There's gonna be links in the description below

where I dive deeper into all of these topics.

So, start budgeting, getting out of debt, and saving.

It's gonna be amazing.

Amazing year for you, financially.

I'm so excited.

Hey, YouTube, thanks so much for watching,

and subscribe to my channel!

'Cause there's gonna be really fun stuff happening,

and I want you to get involved,

and I want you to be able to see it.

Colored Smoke Portrait Photography (CHEAP) - Duration: 3:35.

some weeks ago I tried some Chinese smoke cakes, they are really cheap but

also they had a really really bad review on Amazon....

so for my first test I got some really really bad results

I think the big problem was that my smoke cakes were in open air

and so the smoke went away really fast

I met with a cool model : Vanessa and we went in the forest to be more calm because when you light

some colored smoke inside the city it can go really dangerous really fast because

people will start to think there is like a terrorist attack

this time I used a glass jar to put my smoke cakes inside so when they are lighting up the

smoke starts to build inside the glass jar and then it goes out

it looked like a really good idea but the more smoke cakes burns

the more the glass start to be really really hot and the model starts to doubt

my idea , because she was really scared to burn ourselves it was so hot that at

the end of the shoot the glass just broke

We went inside an abandoned building

and inside there is no wind so the smoke can move freely around the model

I really like the results but I really didn't appreciate the making of

because you have no idea how bad the smell of these smoke cakes is

and I'm sure it's toxic

because the model started to breathe the smoke and she start to cough a lot

So do I recommend these small smoke cakes so it's dangerous because you can burn

yourself it smells like hell the colors can stay on your clothes try this with

the models that is really cool like Vanessa and who is not going to to freak

out because you asked her to do this weird stuff even 20 minutes after we

finish the shoot some people were passing by in the forest and were

saying oh it smells like burnt rotten eggs it smells so bad and we were like

it's really weird and if you want to see more we have

Stats Canada is so sorry for losing all of your personal information | 22 Minutes - Duration: 1:56.

At Statistics Canada, we take the utmost care to ensure your confidential

census forms are in safe hands.

That being said ---

they're all gone.

Pretty much every last one and we are truly sorry about that.

There is absolutely no excuse for the dozens of Canadian census forms left unattended on

subways, planes,

and roller coasters.

Nor can we apologize enough, for the countless sensitive documents stolen

by birds, mailed to penitentiaries or accidentally incorporated into collages.

By now, you've probably heard that many of your census

forms were blown away by a gust of wind, but to be fair ---

we only left those forms next to an open window so they could dry off after someone left them

outside during a downpour.

For what it's worth: our employees have been instructed to leave

all the office windows open, in case another gust of wind blows some of them back inside.

I can't help but feel personally responsible for the twenty-six census forms that were

packed into my daughter's knapsack.

I only realized my mistake after I got to work and found a book report on Charlotte's

Web in my briefcase.

I learned a valuable lesson to more careful -- but an even more valuable lesson about the

importance of friendship.

Look: we screwed up.

Bad.

But Canadians can rest-assured, knowing their remaining census forms are safely

stowed away, right here.

Stats Canada: we give 110%...

Of your personal information away.

Releasing God's Power - Part 1 - Enjoying Everyday Life - Duration: 28:34.

ANNOUNCER: THIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN MADE POSSIBLE

BY THE FRIENDS AND PARTNERS OF JOYCE MEYER MINISTRIES.

JOYCE: WE GET TOO OVERWROUGHT ABOUT WHAT WE CAN'T DO AND WE

DON'T GET EXCITED ENOUGH ABOUT WHAT GOD CAN DO.

YOU SEE, NO MATTER WHAT YOU CAN'T DO OR WHAT I CAN'T DO,

GOD CAN DO.

AND MIRACLES DON'T COME IN CAN'TS, THEY COME IN CANS, AMEN?

[MUSIC]

JOYCE: I WANT TO TEACH THIS WEEKEND ON HOW TO RELEASE

GOD'S POWER IN YOUR LIFE, HOW TO RELEASE GOD'S POWER

IN YOUR LIFE.

LET ME ASK A QUESTION; ARE ANY OF YOU BELIEVING GOD TO BE WEAK?

WHICH DO YOU WANT?

DO YOU WANT POWER OR DO YOU WANT WEAKNESS?

AUDIENCE: POWER.

JOYCE: IS POWER REALLY AVAILABLE TO US, AND WHAT KIND

OF POWER IS AVAILABLE TO US?

YOU KNOW, WE KNOW THAT GOD IS POWERFUL, BUT CAN WE ACTUALLY

SHARE IN HIS POWER IN OUR LIVES?

THE BIBLE SAYS IF THE SAME POWER THAT RAISED CHRIST FROM THE DEAD

DWELLS IN YOU, AND IT DOES, IT WILL QUICKEN YOUR MORTAL BODY.

NOW WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

IT'LL MAKE YOU STRONG.

IT'LL MAKE ENERGIZE YOU.

IT WILL ACTIVATE YOU.

IT WILL ENABLE YOU-- NOW LISTEN TO ME IT.

WILL ENABLE YOU TO DO WHATEVER YOU NEED TO DO IN LIFE WITHOUT

MURMURING, WITHOUT COMPLAINING, WITHOUT MURMURING, WITHOUT

COMPLAINING.

UH-OH.

WITHOUT MURMURING, WITHOUT COMPLAINING.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: IT WILL ENABLE YOU AND ME TO DO WHATEVER WE NEED

TO DO IN LIFE.

HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE NOTICED THAT NOT EVERY DAY TURNS OUT

THE WAY YOU'D LIKE IT TO?

AND SOMETIMES YOU MIGHT HAVE A FEW MONTHS OR EVEN

A WHOLE YEAR THAT DOESN'T TURN OUT THE WAY THAT

YOU WOULD LIKE IT TO.

AND IN THOSE TIMES, WE HAVE TO HOLD FIRM AND BE STEADY AND

FIGHT THAT GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH AND NOT LET THE ENEMY STEAL FROM

US THE HOPE AND THE VISION THAT WE HAVE FOR OUR LIFE BECAUSE OF

WHAT WE HAVE FOUND AS PROMISES IN THE WORD OF GOD.

AND EVEN IN THOSE DIFFICULT TIMES, WE CAN STILL

TREAT PEOPLE GOOD.

WE CAN STILL HAVE A SMILE ON OUR FACE.

WE CAN STILL WALK IN PEACE.

NOT BY OUR OWN POWER, BUT BY THE POWER OF GOD.

NOT ONLY IS GOD POWERFUL, BUT HE WANTS TO FILL US, FILL US, FILL

US, FILL US, WITH HIS POWER.

AND I WANT YOU TO UNDERSTAND, NOT ONLY HERE IN THIS PLACE

TONIGHT BUT ALL AROUND THE WORLD, THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE

TO LIVE A WEAK, WIMPY, PITIFUL, PATHETIC, BARELY-GET-BY LIFE.

JESUS CAME THAT WE MIGHT HAVE AND ENJOY OUR LIFE

AND HAVE IT IN ABUNDANCE TO THE FULL INTO IT OVERFLOWS.

I CANNOT PROMISE YOU A PROBLEM-FREE LIFE.

I CANNOT PROMISE YOU A FAITH, NO MATTER HOW GREAT YOUR FAITH

IS, THAT DOES NOT INSULATE YOU FROM EVER HAVING PROBLEMS.

MATTER OF FACT, SOMETIMES WHEN WE MAKE A BOLD STAND TO SERVE

GOD, THAT'S WHEN THE ENEMY REALLY COMES AGAINST US AND

TRIES TO STEAL THAT FAITH.

THE APOSTLE PAUL SAID IN 1 CORINTHIANS 16:9 THAT "A WIDE

DOOR OF OPPORTUNITY HAD OPENED UNTO HIM AND WITH IT CAME

MANY, MANY ADVERSARIES."

SO I'M NOT GONE TELL YOU THAT YOU'RE GONNA HAVE A PROBLEM-FREE

LIFE, BUT I WILL TELL YOU THAT YOU ALREADY ARE MORE THAN

A CONQUEROR THROUGH CHRIST WHO LOVES YOU, ALREADY ARE

MORE THAN THAT A CONQUEROR.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO TRY TO BE, YOU ALREADY ARE, ALL YOU NEED

TO DO IS LEARN HOW TO BELIEVE THAT AND WALK IN IT.

BECAUSE YOU KNOW WHAT?

NO MATTER WHAT GOD HAS OFFERED US THROUGH HIS SON JESUS CHRIST,

AND WHAT'S OFFERED US IS QUITE AMAZING, IT IS NEVER RELEASED IN

OUR LIFE IF WE DON'T BELIEVE IT.

SO I JUST WANT TO ASK YOU TONIGHT, DO YOU BELIEVE THAT

GOD'S POWER IS AVAILABLE TO YOU TO HELP YOU DO WHATEVER YOU NEED

TO DO IN LIFE WITH A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF JOY AND PEACE AND THAT

NO MATTER WHAT'S GOING ON IN YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES, THAT

YOU CAN STILL BE A BLESSING TO OTHER PEOPLE.

DO YOU BELIEVE THAT THE POWER OF GOD IS AVAILABLE TO YOU

FOR THAT KIND OF A LIFE?

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: AMEN.

WELL, THEN IF WE BELIEVE IT'S AVAILABLE, THEN WE NEED TO MAKE

SURE THAT WE KNOW HOW TO APPROPRIATE IT,

HOW TO RELEASE IT IN OUR LIVES.

BECAUSE, YOU KNOW, IT'S FUN TO COME TO SOMETHING LIKE THIS AND

HEAR SOMEBODY TELL YOU ALL ABOUT THIS, BUT THE THING IS--AND I

TELL PEOPLE THIS PRETTY MUCH IN EVERY CONFERENCE, YOU'RE GONNA

HAVE A GREAT TIME HERE, BUT YOU HAVE TO GO HOME.

[LAUGHING]

JOYCE: I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT WE'RE GONNA DO SOME MAGIC

THING THIS WEEKEND AND, BOY, WHEN YOU GO HOME, EVERYTHING'S

GONNA BE CHANGED AND YOU'RE NOT GONNA HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS

YOU HAD WHEN YOU CAME HERE, BUT WE ALL KNOW THAT THAT'S

NOT GONNA HAPPEN.

HOWEVER, YOU CAN CHANGE AND I CAN CHANGE.

AND THOSE OF YOU WATCHING BY TELEVISION NO MATTER WHERE

YOU'RE AT IN THE WORLD, YOU CAN CHANGE.

WE'RE ALWAYS WANTING GOD TO CHANGE OUR CIRCUMSTANCES,

BUT THE FACT IS, HE'S MORE INTERESTED IN CHANGING US

THAN HE IS IN CHANGING OUR CIRCUMSTANCES.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: BECAUSE WHEN WE CHANGE, THE MORE WE BECOME LIKE

CHRIST AND THE MORE OF THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT WE WALK IN,

THE LESS WE ARE GONNA BE CONCERNED ABOUT OUR

CIRCUMSTANCES.

AND LISTEN WHAT I'M GONNA SAY, WHEN WE LEARN TO STOP

BEING SO CONCERNED ABOUT OUR CIRCUMSTANCES, THEN AND ONLY

THEN, THE DEVIL WILL GO AND FIND SOMEBODY TO BOTHER

THAT HE CAN UPSET.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: BUT IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR THE POWER OF GOD,

YOU MUST FIRST COME TO A PLACE WHERE YOU REALIZE THAT IN AND

OF YOURSELF, YOU ARE WEAK.

YOU HAVE WEAKNESSES.

YOU HAVE LIMITATIONS.

GOD HAS NO LIMITATIONS, BUT WE HAVE LIMITATIONS.

APART FROM HIM, WE CAN DO NOTHING OF ANY REAL VALUE.

NOW I HAVE ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, FIVE, SIX, SEVEN

SCRIPTURES THAT WE'RE GONNA LOOK AT TO GET US CONVINCED THAT OUR

WEAKNESSES REALLY DON'T HAVE TO MAKE THAT MUCH DIFFERENCE

IF WE KNOW HOW TO LET GOD FILL OUR WEAKNESSES WITH HIS POWER.

WE GET TOO OVERWROUGHT ABOUT WHAT WE CAN'T DO

AND WE DON'T GET EXCITED ENOUGH ABOUT WHAT GOD CAN DO.

YOU SEE, NO MATTER WHAT YOU CAN'T DO OR WHAT I CAN'T DO,

GOD CAN DO.

AND MIRACLES DON'T COME IN CAN'Ts, THEY COME IN CANs.

AMEN?

SO WE WANT TO GET RID OF THE "I CAN'T" WORD.

WE WANT TO GET RID OF THE "IT'S TOO HARD" PHRASE.

"IT'S TOO MUCH FOR ME.

I CAN'T DO THIS.

I CAN'T STAND THIS."

BECAUSE, AS A MATTER OF FACT, IF WE ARE INDEED FILLED WITH

THAT RESURRECTION POWER THAT PAUL TALKED ABOUT

IN PHILIPPIANS CHAPTER 3, HE SAID, "I WANT TO

KNOW HIM AND THE POWER OF HIS RESURRECTION THAT LIFTS ME

OUT FROM AMONG THE DEAD EVEN WHILE I'M IN THE BODY."

SO WHAT WAS HE SAYING?

THERE'S A POWER AVAILABLE TO US THAT NO MATTER WHAT IS GOING

ON AROUND US, WE CAN BE LIFTED ABOVE IT.

YOU KNOW, AN EAGLE--AND IN THE FIRST SCRIPTURE WE'RE GONNA

LOOK AT, WHICH IS ISAIAH 40, THE BIBLE SAYS THAT WE CAN

MOUNT UP WITH WINGS AS EAGLES.

WELL, WHAT DOES THAT REALLY MEAN?

YOU KNOW, AN EAGLE IS NOT AFRAID OF A STORM.

MATTER OF FACT, THEY HAVE WHAT'S CALLED TUNNEL VISION, AND THEY

CAN SEE A STORM COMING FOR MILES AND MILES AND MILES AWAY.

WE NEED TO HAVE ENOUGH DISCERNMENT THAT WE'RE NOT TAKEN

BY SURPRISE AND WE CAN SENSE, EVEN BEFORE THE FULL ATTACK IS

ON, WHAT THE ENEMY'S TRYING TO DO AND ALREADY SET OUR MIND

BEFORE THE WHOLE PROBLEM STARTS THAT WE'RE GONNA COME OUT

THE WINNER ON THE OTHER END.

TO BE MORE THAN A CONQUEROR MEANS THAT YOU KNOW YOU'VE

GOT THE VICTORY BEFORE YOU EVER GET THE PROBLEM.

CAN ANYBODY HAVE ENOUGH CONFIDENCE IN THIS PLACE TO KNOW

THAT BEFORE--SO SEE YOU DON'T HAVE TO LIVE IN FEAR OF

WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN TOMORROW.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO LIVE IN FEAR OF WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN

IN THESE LAST DAYS.

SO MANY PEOPLE ASK ME NOW WHAT MY INPUT IS ON THE LAST DAYS,

AND I JUST TELL THEM FRANKLY, "I'M NOT AN EXPERT

IN END TIMES."

I DO HAVE ENOUGH SENSE TO NOT TRY TO GET INTO SOMETHING THAT

I DON'T FEEL THAT I'M QUALIFIED TO GET INTO.

I HAVE A VERY SIMPLE PHILOSOPHY ABOUT IT, MAYBE

IT'S TOO SIMPLE FOR YOU.

MAYBE YOU'D LIKE TO WORRY ABOUT IT.

IF YOU WANT TO, YOU CAN BUT MY SIMPLE PHILOSOPHY IS THAT IF I

TRUST GOD AND TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITY I DO WHAT I BELIEVE

HE'S ASKING ME TO DO, THEN HE IS GOING TO TAKE CARE OF ME.

AND IF I AM MORE THAN A CONQUEROR, THEN I CAN HAVE

THE CONFIDENCE RIGHT NOW THAT WHATEVER HAPPENS IN THE END

TIMES THAT WE CAN HANDLE IT.

THAT'S WHAT IT MEANS TO BE MORE THAN A CONQUEROR.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE AFRAID OF WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN TOMORROW

OR WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN WHEN YOU RETIRE OR WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN

WITH THIS THAT OR SOMETHING ELSE BECAUSE YOU SAY, "I'M IN CHRIST

AND THAT SAME POWER THAT RAISED CHRIST FROM THE DEAD DWELLS

IN ME AND I CAN DO, I CAN DO WHATEVER I NEED TO DO THROUGH

CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME.

I CAN DO."

NOT "I CAN'T," BUT "I CAN."

JUST TAKE A PAUSE BREAK AND GIVE GOD A BIG SHOUT.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: ISAIAH 40, VERSE 29.

I DECIDED I'M JUST GONNA HAVE YOU LOOK AT EVERY ONE OF THESE

SCRIPTURES BECAUSE I THINK SOMETIMES WE RUSH AROUND

TOO FAST, AND I CAN QUOTE THEM ALL TO YOU BUT I WANT YOU

TO SEE THEM.

ISAIAH 40:29 AND TODAY IT'S SO EASY.

WE PUT IT UP ON THE OVERHEAD FOR YOU.

YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO TRY TO FIND IT.

"HE GIVES POWER TO THE FAINT AND WEARY, AND TO HIM WHO HAS

NO MIGHT HE INCREASES STRENGTH [CAUSING IT TO MULTIPLY

AND MAKING IT TO ABOUND]."

SO YOU SEE EVEN IF YOU WALKED IN HERE TONIGHT FEELING LIKE, "I AM

AT THE END OF MY ROPE," THEN YOU CAN DEPEND ON GOD TO GIVE YOU

POWER, REFRESH YOU IN THIS PLACE TONIGHT AND SEND YOU OUT

READY TO START ALL OVER AGAIN AND NOT GIVE UP.

"HE GIVES POWER TO THE FAINT AND THE WEARY."

HE DOESN'T GIVE POWER TO THE POWERFUL.

HE GIVES POWER TO THOSE WHO NEED POWER.

AND GOD DOESN'T GIVE US HIS POWER FOR NOTHING.

GOD'S NOT GONNA GIVE US HIS POWER SO WE CAN SIT AROUND

ON CHURCH PEWS UNTIL OUR BOTTOMS GET FLAT AND DO ABSOLUTELY

NOTHING BUT BE A PEW SITTER.

AMEN?

VERSE 30, "EVEN YOUTHS," THAT MEANS EVEN REALLY YOUNG PEOPLE

THAT ARE IN GREAT SHAPE, "SHALL FAINT AND BE WEARY,

AND [SELECTED] YOUNG MEN SHALL FEEBLY STUMBLE

AND FALL EXHAUSTED."

NOW, THAT'S NOT BEING NEGATIVE, IT'S JUST SAYING THAT EVERYBODY

HAS THEIR LIMITATIONS WITHOUT GOD.

NO MATTER HOW YOUNG YOU ARE, NO MATTER HOW GREAT OF A SHAPE

YOU'RE IN, NO MATTER HOW SMART YOU THINK YOU ARE, NO MATTER

WHAT YOU THINK YOU CAN DO, YOU WILL ULTIMATELY DISPLAY

WEAKNESS IN YOUR LIFE.

AND THANK GOD FOR IT BECAUSE IF WE DIDN'T HAVE ANY WEAKNESS,

THEN WE WOULDN'T NEED HIM.

AMEN?

SO GOD LEAVES WEAKNESSES IN EVERY ONE OF US SO WE WILL

CONSTANTLY CRY OUT TO GOD, "GOD, I NEED YOU AND

I'M NOTHING WITHOUT YOU."

"BUT THOSE WHO WAIT FOR THE LORD--" AND WAITING FOR

GOD DOESN'T MEAN TO SIT AROUND PASSIVELY DOING NOTHING.

ACTUALLY WAITING ON GOD IS TO BE VERY SPIRITUALLY ACTIVE.

YOU'RE PRAYING, YOU'RE SEEKING GOD, YOU'RE LOVING GOD, YOU'RE

OBEYING GOD, BUT YOU'RE REFUSING TO GET INTO WHAT THE BIBLE CALLS

WORKS OF THE FLESH, TRYING TO MAKE YOUR OWN WAY BECAUSE YOU

LEARNED THAT IF YOU DON'T HAVE HIS PLAN,

YOUR PLAN IS NOT GONNA WORK.

HAS ANYBODY EVER TRIED TO WORK YOUR OWN PLAN AND JUST MADE

YOUR PROBLEM A WHOLE LOT WORSE?

WELL, OF COURSE, WE'VE ALL TRIED THAT.

THAT'S ONE OF THE WAYS THAT WE FIND OUT THAT WE NEED

TO LEAN ON GOD.

"BUT THEY THAT WAIT UPON THE LORD SHALL RENEW

THEIR STRENGTH AND POWER; THEY SHALL LIFT UP

THEIR WINGS AND MOUNT UP [CLOSE TO GOD] AS EAGLES

[MOUNT UP TO THE SUN]; THEY SHALL RUN

AND NOT BE WEARY--" DON'T YOU LOVE THAT?

"THEY SHALL RUN AND NOT BE WEARY."

THEY SHALL HANDLE ANYTHING THAT COMES THEIR WAY AND NOT

GET WEARY AND WORN OUT AND EXHAUSTED AND FEEL LIKE

"I JUST CAN'T TAKE IT."

BUT WE CAN ACTUALLY HAVE THE KIND OF LIFE WHERE OTHER

PEOPLE LOOK AT US AND SAY, "I DON'T KNOW HOW YOU CAN BE

THAT HAPPY WITH WHAT'S GOING ON IN YOUR LIFE.

HOW CAN YOU JUST KEEP REACHING OUT TO OTHER PEOPLE WITH

ALL THE PROBLEMS YOU HAVE IN YOUR OWN LIFE?"

YOU SAY, "WELL, IT'S NOT BY MY MIGHT AND POWER,

BUT IT'S BY HIS."

NOW THE EAGLE SEES A STORM COMING A LONG WAY OFF, BUT IT

TAKES ADVANTAGE OF THE STORM.

YOU SEE, STORMS IN OUR LIFE DO HAVE AN ADVANTAGE BECAUSE

THEY FORCE US TO SEEK GOD.

THEY FORCE US TO SEEK GOD.

HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE FOUND OUT THAT WHEN YOU GET A PROBLEM SO

BIG THAT YOU FINALLY FIGURE OUT THAT IT'S WAY OVER YOUR HEAD,

THEN AND ONLY THEN DO WE NORMALLY SEEK GOD WITH

ALL WHOLE HEART?

IT'S AMAZING HOW MUCH TIME WE FIND FOR GOD, HOW MUCH TIME

WE FIND TO PRAY AND SEEK GOD AND READ THE WORD

WHEN WE ARE DESPERATE.

IT'S AMAZING HOW LITTLE TIME WE HAVE WHEN EVERYTHING'S

GOING GOOD.

BUT BOY, WE FIND ALL KINDS OF TIME TO SEEK GOD

WHEN THINGS ARE DESPERATE.

SO I LEARNED FROM GOD A LONG TIME AGO, HE SAID,

"JUST ACT LIKE YOU'RE DESPERATE ALL THE TIME AND THEN

YOU WON'T ACTUALLY BE DESPERATE AT ANYTIME."

BECAUSE REALLY, WE ARE DESPERATE ACTUALLY.

WE ARE JUST A TOTAL, COMPLETE WRECK AND A MESS WITHOUT GOD.

SO THE EAGLE WAITS FOR THIS STORM AND WHEN THE STORM HITS,

IT BOUNCES HIM UP AND HE MOUNTS UP CLOSE TO THE SUN AS WE SHOULD

LET THE STORMS HELP US MOUNT UP CLOSE TO GOD.

AND THE EAGLE LITERALLY FLIES AROUND ABOVE THE STORM

AND CAN LOOK DOWN AT IT AND WAIT FOR IT TO PASS.

WE DO THAT WHEN WE'RE IN AIRPLANES.

SOMETIMES YOU GOTTA GET THROUGH THE STORM,

AND THAT'S A LITTLE BUMPY.

BUT THEN WHEN YOU CAN GET ABOVE IT, YOU'RE UP IN THIS PLACE

WHERE IT'S JUST SO PEACEFUL AND CALM AND YOU'RE JUST LOOKING

DOWN AT IT WAITING FOR IT TO PASS, AND THAT'S

THE WAY GOD WANTS US TO LIVE.

HE WANTS US TO NOT BE AFRAID OF THOSE STORMS.

YOU KNOW, I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU, BUT I FINALLY GOT TIRED

OF WORRYING ABOUT WHAT WAS GONNA HAPPEN NEXT.

AMEN?

IT'S WONDERFUL TO NOT HAVE TO BE AFRAID OF WHATEVER'S GONNA

HAPPEN NEXT BECAUSE YOU KNOW THAT YOU KNOW THAT YOU KNOW

THAT GOD IS IN CONTROL AND THAT HE DOES WORK ALL THINGS OUT

FOR OUR GOOD IF WE CONTINUE TO LOVE HIM AND TRUST HIM.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: HOW WONDERFUL IT IS TO HAVE THAT CONFIDENCE.

IN PSALM CHAPTER 6, VERSE 2, THE PSALMIST DAVID SAID,

"HAVE MERCY ON ME AND BE GRACIOUS TO ME, O LORD,

FOR I AM WEAK (FAINT AND WITHERED AWAY); O LORD, HEAL ME,

FOR MY BONES ARE TROUBLED."

SO DAVID, THE GREAT PSALMIST DAVID WHO BECAME A GREAT KING,

HAD NO PROBLEM SAYING, "IN AND OF MYSELF, I AM WEAK.

THERE'S NOTHING THAT I CAN DO WITHOUT GOD."

YOU SEE, PEOPLE WHO THINK THEY'VE GOT IT ALL TOGETHER

CAN'T REALLY HAVE GOD'S HELP.

YOU HAVE TO WAIT AND WEAR YOURSELF OUT FIRST.

MATTER OF FACT, I REALLY BELIEVE--AND I'VE TALKED TO

SOMEBODY AT LENGTH ABOUT THIS IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS BECAUSE THIS

PERSON STRUGGLED QUITE A BIT FOR MANY YEARS AND NOW HAS HAD

A REAL ENCOUNTER WITH GOD AND EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED FOR THEM.

AND THE QUESTION HAS BEEN, "WELL, WHY NOW?

WHY NOT 2 YEARS AGO?

WHY NOT 5 YEARS AGO?" AND I SAID, "I REALLY BELIEVE

THAT GOD WAS WAITING FOR YOU TO COME TO THE END OF YOURSELF."

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: YOU KNOW, SOMETIMES WE SAY, "GOD, I CAN'T DO IT,"

BUT WE REALLY DON'T MEAN IT BECAUSE THE NEXT MORNING

WE GET ANOTHER PLAN.

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: COME ON.

WE GET ANOTHER BRIGHT IDEA ABOUT HOW WE'RE GOING TO FIX THIS

AND SO THEN GOD HAS TO WAIT AGAIN FOR US TO REALIZE

THAT'S NOT GONNA WORK.

YOU KNOW, WHEN ABRAHAM AND SARAH WERE WAITING FOR THE PROMISED

CHILD, THEY GOT TIRED OF WAITING, LIKE A LOT OF US DO,

AND SO THEY GOT A BRIGHT IDEA.

"YOU TAKE MY HANDMAIDEN, HAVE INTERCOURSE WITH HER.

SHE CAN BE YOUR SECONDARY WIFE."

I DON'T KNOW WHAT WIFE IN HER RIGHT MIND WOULD GIVE HER

HUSBAND A SECONDARY WIFE.

I MEAN, THAT'S JUST TROUBLE BREWING FROM

THE GET-GO RIGHT THERE.

AND SURE ENOUGH, SHE DID GET PREGNANT AND THEN THAT

CAUSED ALL KINDS OF PROBLEMS BETWEEN HAGAR AND SARAH.

AND THEN SHE HAD A BABY.

AND SO IT WAS ANOTHER 13 YEARS OF WAITING ADDED ON TO WHAT THEY

ALREADY PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BEEN WAITING NOW TRYING TO DEAL WITH

THE MESS THEY CREATED BY TRYING TO FIX THEIR OWN PROBLEM.

BOY, DO WE EVER NEED TO LEARN HOW TO NOT MOVE IN THE FLESH,

BUT TO MOVE IN THE SPIRIT.

WHEN GOD SAYS MOVE, WE MOVE AND WHEN HE SAYS STOP, WE STOP.

WHEN HE SAYS, WAIT, WE WAIT AND WHEN HE SAYS GO, WE GO.

WE HAVE TO COME TO THE END OF OURSELVES, AND SOMETIMES,

DEPENDING ON YOUR TEMPERAMENT, HOW YOU'RE PUT TOGETHER,

HOW FULL OF YOURSELF YOU ARE, THAT TAKES LONGER

FOR SOME PEOPLE THAN OTHERS.

DO YOU THINK THAT, "WELL, I'M A STRONG PERSON.

I CAN--" DO YOU HAVE TROUBLE

TAKING HELP FROM PEOPLE?

DO YOU HAVE TROUBLE ASKING PEOPLE FOR HELP?

DO YOU HAVE TROUBLE LETTING GO?

ARE YOU STUBBORN, PROUD?

YOU KNOW, THE BIBLE TALKS ABOUT SOMETHING THAT WE DON'T REALLY

LIKE TO TALK ABOUT MUCH.

IT'S SOMETHING CALLED BROKENNESS AND THAT'S KIND OF LIKE A PEOPLE

OF FAITH JUST KIND OF THINK THAT'S A DIRTY WORD.

IT'S LIKE--BUT THE TRUTH IS, GOD HAS TO BREAK THE OUTER MAN.

JUST LIKE THE WOMAN WHO CAME WITH THE ALABASTER BOX FULL OF

SWEET PERFUME TO ANOINT JESUS, SHE HAD TO BREAK THE BOX.

SHE HAD TO BREAK THE JAR.

AND THERE'S A LOT OF GREAT THINGS IN US THAT CHRIST

HAS PUT IN US BY HIS GRACE.

WE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO GET THEM, BUT AT THE NEW BIRTH,

HE PUT THEM IN US, AND HE WANTS THOSE THINGS TO COME OUT OF US

AND TO BE SHARED WITH OTHER PEOPLE AND FOR US

TO GLORIFY HIM.

BUT IF THAT SWEET, WONDERFUL THING THAT GOD HAS DONE IN

US IS ENCASED AND ENCLOSED IN A STUBBORN FLESH, THEN

THAT FLESH HAS TO BE DEALT WITH.

AND MANY OF YOU, SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU'RE GOING

THROUGH RIGHT NOW IN YOUR LIFE THAT YOU ABSOLUTELY HATE AND

DESPISE, SOMEDAY YOU WILL FIND OUT THAT THESE PROBLEMS WERE

INDEED YOUR VERY BEST FRIEND.

YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME NOW, BUT CHECK WITH ME IN 10 YEARS.

COME ON, NOW.

HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE GONE THROUGH SOME WRETCHED THINGS IN

YOUR PAST, BUT IF YOU LOOK BACK, MAN, YOU CAN SAY, "THAT'S WHAT

BROUGHT ME CLOSE TO GOD"?

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: NOW, THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS YOU COULD BE THAT

CLOSE TO GOD WITHOUT HAVING TO GET IT THAT WAY.

BUT, YOU KNOW, IT JUST KIND OF COMES WITH THE PACKAGE.

I MEAN WE'RE STUBBORN, WE'RE PROUD.

WE WANT TO DO IT OURSELF.

WE WANT TO TAKE THE CREDIT.

IT'S HARD TO TOTALLY LEAN ON ANYBODY.

MATTHEW 26:41, WHEN JESUS WAS IN THE GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE

AND ASKING HIS DISCIPLES TO PRAY WITH HIM--

"CAN YOU NOT PRAY WITH ME ONE HOUR?"

THEY KEPT FALLING ASLEEP AND HE SAID, "GET UP AND PRAY.

THE SPIRIT IS WILLING BUT THE FLESH IS WEAK."

SO YOU SEE, NO MATTER HOW MANY GOOD INTENTIONS I HAVE,

AND REALLY NO MATTER HOW MANY VICTORIES I'VE HAD IN THE PAST,

THAT DOESN'T GUARANTEE ME A VICTORY TODAY IF I'M NOT

LEANING ON GOD TODAY.

LEANING ON GOD YESTERDAY DOESN'T HELP ME TODAY.

I HAVE TO LEAN ON GOD TODAY.

I SUGGEST STARTING EVERY DAY SAYING, "GOD, I AM

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WITHOUT YOU.

I CAN DO NOTHING WITHOUT YOU.

I LEAN ENTIRELY ON YOU TODAY.

I AM DESPERATE WITHOUT YOUR HELP."

NOT GET UP AND SAY, "I GOT THIS, PIECE OF CAKE.

NO PROBLEM.

NO TIME TO PRAY THIS MORNING.

GOTTA RUSH ON DO MY PLAN."

DO YOU KNOW THAT SPENDING TIME WITH GOD HONORS HIM?

AND I MIGHT EVEN GO ON TO SAY I THINK IT'S QUITE INSULTING

TO HIM WHEN WE DON'T SPEND TIME WITH GOD BECAUSE REALLY

WHAT WE'RE SAYING IN ESSENCE IS "I DON'T NEED YOU."

I MEAN, COME ON, DON'T LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT.

"WELL, NO, I'M JUST BUSY."

WELL, YOU KNOW WHAT?

IF YOU GET A BIG ENOUGH PROBLEM, YOU'RE NOT TOO BUSY FOR GOD.

COME ON, AM I TELLING THE TRUTH?

YOU GET A BIG ENOUGH PROBLEM, YOU'RE NOT TOO BUSY FOR GOD.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: AND, YOU KNOW, SOME OF US CAN GET THAT AFTER TWO OR

THREE TIMES AROUND THE MOUNTAIN.

I WASN'T LIKE THAT.

I NEEDED ABOUT A THOUSAND TRIPS.

UNTIL I FINALLY GOT IT, "APART FROM YOU,

I CAN DO NOTHING."

NOW WHEN I COME TO THAT POINT, NOW I'M A CANDIDATE FOR GOD'S

POWER, BUT I'M NOT GONNA HAVE THAT POWER UNTIL I KNOW THAT

I HAVE TO HAVE IT TO SURVIVE.

JOYCE: WELL, GOD IS MIGHTY AND HE WANTS TO SHARE HIS POWER

One of the BEST MOTIVATIONAL VIDEO | STOP KILLING TIME - Duration: 36:39.

[Music] Time is all we have this moment right

now there's only one thing in our lives that we're never able to reacquire once

it's gone and I'm not talking about money I'm not talking about material

items I'm talking about time and it's such a unique concept unique idea

because when utilized correctly it contains the ingredients to success to

happiness to growth prosperity all the things we want but at the very same time

if neglected it leaves us with very little because the truth is every

morning when you wake up you are living minutes you will never get back you were

breathing air you will never take in again it is your one opportunity to

embrace this and every second sees a little of it

slip away and my point is that there is no moment more important more perfect

than right now not in a week not after your promotion not in 30 years when you

plan to retire and relax right now see we have this mentality that the future

is going to somehow mean more than the present that if we suffer now or if

we're unhappy now that will save the best in life for some other time but the

reality is we don't get younger yes we should be working hard absolutely

success comes from effort hard work dedication persistence but the key is

allocate your precious time to the work to the things that make you feel like

today is power that right now is so amazing you don't want to end today

is when you take the first step towards the things you want when you become who

you want to become no one is ever or will ever keep you from that other than

yourself there is no ceiling there is no limitation there is no special

requirement there is you and what you allow you

to accomplish you are the gatekeeper you have your foot on the gas and it's so

easy to point others right to point to our environment to blame things on

everything but our own decision our decision to stick to the status quo

because believe it or not it is that simple you are where you are because

that's where you decided to be and you've accepted that as okay look if you

want change then manufacture change create a plan and move go transform step

out of your head and into the real world think about how lucky we are to be alive

in this day and age with access to all the information we can ever dream of

technology that enables growth freedom to pursue any path that looks appealing

anything we could ever want it's right in front of us yet we don't embrace why

why in the world would we let that be nothing is more important in life than

living it nothing makes us feel more energized more free more happy than

following the path we were meant to take it's having the courage to step over the

obstacles to face the challenges to be uncomfortable and at the beginning it's

tough right change is tough getting what you want isn't easy there's a period of

struggle of growth but once you get through it you understand what living

really is which brings us right back to the

concept of time our small existence on this planet the greatest gift a human

being can receive you by default haven't don't ever let it be in vain the future

isn't when happiness someday occurs it's a continuation of you living every

moment to the fullest from now until your last make every trip around the Sun

better than the previous never let a moment of sunshine clouds or rain

deprive you of your gift be the best version of yourself you can be live the

life you were meant to live all it takes is a simple decision

[Music]

my father had 90 years but it seemed in 93 years but it seemed short in his

seemingly long life of 93 years it was short because it just seems like if we

only had more time Old Testament gives us a view of some people who live to be

five six seven eight nine hundred years old if I have a chance to ask

I will ask how come we got short jeans

wouldn't that be a good question if you had a chance to ask imagine seven eight

nine hundred years to watch generation after generation after generation after

generation stay healthy and well I mean you gotta have you got to be healthy to

make it to nine hundred you got to take your vitamins I'm pushing the Bible on

pushing vitamins I mean I'm doing good today so the key is time is precious now

let me give you Bill Bailey's a description of time life is not just the

passing of time life is not just the passing of time life is a collection of

experiences their frequency

and their intensity life is not just watching the clock tick away life is a

collection of experiences their intensity their frequency when my friend

mark died at age 44 someone says that's young to die but what if he lived four

lifetimes in one might not be too young so here's what it whatever the span of

your life turns out to be here's what you want to fill it up with experiences

and the intensity of those experiences

but now let's talk about the management of time here's one of the best ones we

covered earlier when should you start building this hotel answer as soon as

you have it finished now jot this one down on time management when should you

start the day as soon as you have it finished plan the day the best you can

leaving plenty of room for improvising and surprises and all the stuff that

happens during the course of the day but if you've planned a good productive day

now you start that day you can't believe how much more valuable your time will be

don't start the day until you have it finished now here's the next one

don't start the week until you've had it finished now to lay out a week is a

pretty good challenge next don't start the month until you have it finished the

places to go and the people to see and the productivity and the sales and the

customers and the development and all the rest of what you want to accomplish

during the course of thirty days don't start the month till it's finished and

then here's the big one this is really challenging don't start the year until

you have it finished to the best of your ability it can't be finished like minute

by minute but in terms of the sweep of what you want to accomplish in the year

2002 make sure that that's set and ready to go but the time January 1st rolls

around and it might get all upset might get torn up and you doin ooh and

you make so much progress the first 90 days that now you've got you've

multiplied at all by two by three because that happened to me I thought

wow this is gonna be a great year by the time I'd finish the third month

I'm rolling I'm sore and so many things are happening I revised my whole year's

plan okay now shut this down approaches to the management of time here's the

first one ignore the subject I mean that's good

advice

don't let anything overly bug you because you remember now you don't have

to do anything summer I got to get a handle on my time the answer's no you

don't if you want to let it all go you can let it all go

I mean this is good advice somebody says you ought uot uot jot this down ignore

all the you arts or you should only if they're giving general information we

should it's better to say if you're teaching we should not you should we

should then you let me listen in without it being too confrontational if everyone

did this see that'd be great and then you give a person a chance to choose to

do it or not to do it but when you start the you ought you are now see if I don't

now see we've got some tension and maybe some problems so you are seem to always

create problems when you're talking to your kids you say no if kids would do

this not always saying if you did this if you did this life would be better but

if kids did this life would be better it's like making a little talk and

letting them listen in and then it's a little less confrontational it gives us

a choice in one of my seminars here's what I teach all life forms strives to

the max of its potential except human beings all life forms strives to the max

of its potential except human beings how tall will a tree grow

as tall as it possibly can you never heard of a tree growing half as high as

it could no trees don't grow half a tree drives

its roots as deep as it can reaches as high as it can produces every leaf it

can every fruit it possibly can to the max every life-form strive to the max

except human beings now why not human beings jot this down you've been given

the dignity of choice you're not a robot you don't have to repeat this year the

same as last year you can tear up last year's plan develop

a new plan

so the dignity of being a human being now here's the choice on being a human

being to be part of all we were meant to be or to be all to strive for all or

half or part or some the choice is up to you

to develop one skill or ten skills so this is well I'd be happy with just one

more language well some say hey I'm gonna learn six or seven and this is all

a matter of choice and when someone says no you ought to learn four you've got to

resist all that because this is personal dignity and you don't want to destroy

somes dignity by by doing all the aughts and they feel reluctant to do it now

we've got problems so if you want to just ignore this subject on time

management now here's the next one step down to something easier the guys in

sales and he says oh I want to own the company finally owns the company now

he's got no time to play golf he said when I was in sales I was making big

money playing golf three days a week heck with this own in something heck

with managing my life was never my own after I started to manage I'm going back

to sales see this is the key if you're getting too pressed you might consider

stepping down to something with a little easier time pressure little girl says to

her mother daddy comes home brings his briefcase and Pat's me on the head and

says hello disappears and works on these papers how come my daddy doesn't play

with me and her mother said look your daddy loves you very much

but he has he's so busy at work he can't get it all done he has to bring it home

he loves you but that's why he can't play with you and the little girl said

why don't they just put him in a slower group so chop this down now if you don't

have time for your kids you might consider joining a slower group remember

when I said some things I went for cost me too much so reconsider next key to

time management and that's work longer and harder but see there's a limit to

that I almost lost my health the first year I went so crazy about personal

development and achievement I just went bonkers you know I told you I was skinny

but the end of that first year I was a walking shadow and then it suddenly

occurred to me what if I got rich and too ill to spend it I mean that was a

shocker so I started you know developing a little more reasonable because I said

if 12 hours won't do it all work 40 and if that won't do it I'll work 18 I mean

how many hours it takes and sure enough it cost me too much so see working

longer and harder for some might be appropriate you know if you're just

sitting around not doing that much this might be good work longer and harder but

you can only work so hard here's the key not to work harder but smarter when

you've worked as hard as you can doing the best you can in terms of physical

output in the time reasonable time now here's the ultimate in the management of

time and that is you simply become more skillful when I first got into sales you

know I was around people that could get you know nine out of ten eight out of

ten and when I first started I could only get one out of ten but here's what

I did I worked around the clock around the clock so that I would make up in

numbers what I lacked in skill that's good in sales you got to jot that down

when you're new you make up in numbers which you lack in skill now when you

become more skillful the numbers can go down because now

you're you're persuasive ability and all of that is now so high that you don't

need to put as many numbers out but at first if you want to compete or if you

want to really get good you've got to put in the numbers but if you get more

from yourself develop more of yourself now the time management becomes an

easier task now here's the next thing either you run the project or it runs

you I found out when you start something at first you're in charge all of a

sudden a year later it's in charge some of the companies I started I'm telling

you I'm in control a couple of years later I'm out of control

at first I've got it on the run two years later it's got me on the run

haven't got enough time I'm dizzy with trying to get it all done so here's part

of the key that's to get in charge so I'm going to take charge of my health

one of my albums is entitled take charge of your life take charge of your time

take charge of your resources which we're going to talk about next take

charge of your health you're the one that's responsible for it it's not a

requirement of society that you not have a heart attack and take care of your

family that's not a requirement of society but you must make it a

requirement of yourself society doesn't require that you build a financial wall

around your family nothing can get through that's not a requirement of

society it's a requirement you impose on yourself to build a financial wall

around your family nothing can get through so impose on yourself this self

development of being in charge taking charge of your life and your health and

your future and your responsibilities and all the rest next reasonable time is

enough time to achieve all of your goals just stuff that down reasonable time is

enough time I had to learn that reasonable time is enough time

here's why it's not the hours you put in it's what you put in the hours if you

start depositing greater ideas into the hours you've got later than now I'm

telling you later you can't believe the productivity that will flow the ideas

you can't think of now a year from now they'll start to flow and when you

deposit those ideas in the hours you've got productivity multiplies by two three

five - next time management essential we've already covered the first one a

written set of goals and then do priorities on your goals what's

important this week what's important this month here's the next one

often review just go over your goals to make sure that your list is working for

you it's got you inspired it's got you turned on so missus how come you're up

so early say if you were headed where I'm headed you'd be up early too if you

were gonna meet who I'm gonna meet you'd be up early if it was gonna stock up for

you like it's stacking up for me you'd be getting up early here's some more

time management essentials learn to study what we call majors and minors you

pick up the phone here's what you must say when you pick up the phone is this a

major conversation or a minor conversation if it's minor a few

pleasantries and you're done if it's major maybe you've got to make a few

notes so here's the next one important conversations make an agenda before you

make the call just jot down a little agenda it's so

easy now to just talk out of your head you ever hear a conversation end like

this like this let's see there was something else

see you don't look that Swift I can't think of it right now I'll call you back

see you look a little income but n't let's see there was something it

escapes me right now really so if you got this now make an agenda before you

make a call if it's an important call now later that saves you all kinds of

stuff you call John in the salesman say John remember those four things we went

over said no we didn't talk about that and then you pull out your date time or

whatever and there's the list you made when you made the call he said oh yes

seems like I do remember and you've got him with your list if it's just sales

people especially can talk you out of what's in your head it's true no we

didn't talk about that and if you don't have a little proof I'm telling you it's

gone so make an agenda before you make a call so what's a major what's minor now

here's the key on this don't major in minor things if you take up major time

to do minor things I'm telling you you'll be behind the curve constantly

here's what we learn in sales training what's major time and what's minor time

here's minor time thinking about prospects

here's minor time making list of prospects here's minor time keeping

books on prospects here's minor time going to see the

prospect

here's minor time evaluating the prospect after you've been there that's

all minor time here's major time in the presence of the

prospect that's mine that's major time and if you took a look if you're in

sales and you took a look at a week you'd say my gosh I'm spending 90% of my

time on the minor stuff and so little time on the major stuff in the presence

of how many hours in the presence of in my day how many hours in the presence of

during my sales week because the time that really counts is in the presence of

majors and minors here's another key time management

essential don't mistake movement for it

it's easy to get faked out by being busy

that comes home at night all exhausted falls in the chair and says oh I've been

going going going here's the big question

doing what it's not the goal and go and going some people are going going going

and they're doing figure eights their progress is small so don't mistake

movement for achievement here's another one in sales we learned don't mistake

courtesy for consent if somebody's pleasant and they nod you say oh they're

gonna buy know they're courteous you can't mistake courtesy for consent

now here's the big one concentration I had to learn this all those years ago

I'm in the shower trying to compose a letter found it turns out to be a

strange letter so here's what I learned to do save them work till you get to the

office save the work till you get to the work don't try to get to the office on

the way to work on the way to work enjoy the way and the shower enjoy the shower

then go to work when you get to work I've found this to be helpful

concentration here's another big one learn to say no I'm telling you in such

a social society we have now it's so easy to try to be a nice person saying

yes yes yes to everything find yourself overloaded now you got to call make the

well gosh and you know all the time it takes to back out of something that you

should said yes to too quickly here's what might be better I don't think so

but if that changes I'll call you little things you can use not to commit over

commit yourself my friend Ron Reynolds says don't let your mouth overload your

back it's a good one now here's the big one on time management when you work

work when you play play don't mix the two don't work at play I used to take my

family to the beach and I would bring my briefcase I learned not to do that or at

the beach I'm saying I should be at the office I should be at the office now my

family's upset because I'm at the beach and I'm thinking office office office

now when I'm at the office I'm thinking what I gotta get my family to the beach

the beach the beach so things are not going too well at the office because I'm

thinking beach and things are not going too well up the beach cuz I'm thinking

office here's what I learned to do at the beach be at the beach at the office

be at the office when you work work when you play play don't mix the two don't

work at play now here's one of the most important ones don't play at work work

is too serious you don't want the reputation of being the office joker

it's not a good one yes there's time for some pleasant stories yes there's time

for a little humor yes best if it's a happy office of course

but I'm telling you got to be serious about work because your parting with a

piece of your life for the work you do your work costs you a piece of your life

here's what it's called serious business not grim not unhappy but serious keep

don't play at work the only person I don't think we use anymore horse around

at the office play around play jokes play tricks no place not at the work

place at the beach yes at the bar yes somewhere else not work you've got to

treat work with all due conservative passion because it's leading you to your

future here's another key phrase all work is good you may not like your job

but if it's the stepping stones to get you to where you want to to go you got

to appreciate your job you don't have to have a passion for your job here's the

ultimate passion a passion for incredible success in every department

of my life that's the passion but don't look John down on some menial job you

have to do to finally get you to where you want to go no job is menial menial

no job is not no every job is noble training life for pay making a

contribution to society

next analyze how you are and if you have some weaknesses if you can't it doesn't

seem like you can change here's the key get it covered I used to keep promising

myself I'd keep the books keep the books keep the books finally I gave that up

and back then it only took me an extra 50 60 bucks a month for some accountant

to keep the books as a no I'm gonna save the 50 bucks you can't believe what I

started losing in productivities because I tried to save the 50 bucks so the key

is a lot of times you can stay like you are but just make

sure you get it covered okay next beware of the telephone and all other

systems of communication especially the telephone at home and systems of

communication at home and here's one of the best lines I've got for you for the

weekend let all communication systems serve you

but don't let them intrude when it comes time to have dinner with your family you

shut off all systems unless the ones that can take messages silently

don't let the phone ring don't let anybody intrude come through

the front door or the back door nor through the telephone or any other

device so you can't reach John and his family when he's having dinner the

President of the United States couldn't get through if you develop that kind of

a reputation father mother when we have dinner when we're visiting and have this

time with our family nothing intrudes so don't let these clever little devices

keep intruding you've got to have a place that sank or sank it's it's

valuable you don't let anything in for that period of time okay

isn't that good advice excellent advice here's the next one read all the books

you know I've only got a few notes here on time management but if you've got

some particular challenges you run a big organization a big corporation you've

got some challenges there's plenty of books now here's what's next

just be more alert to the things that might be stealing your time here's why

time is like capital you can't let someone steal your seedcorn you can't

let someone steal your capital and you can't let someone steal your time you

must designate your time and some of the time that you designate you must not let

anyone steal casual time you might let someone intrude and steal a little bit

and take a little bit but not serious time next one of the great

time management savers is to learn to ask questions upfront

sometimes you talk to somebody for an hour and then you ask questions and find

out if you would have asked those questions up front you could have saved

yourself an hour asking questions up front helps you to get to the problem

now but if you just launch into some discourse you might waste 30 minutes of

waste an hour when here's what you should have been talking about after

you've finished an hour you say John what's really the problem he said well

it's something personal see that's what you should have been talking about this

whole hour next learn to think on paper

and we're gonna take a break some ways to think on paper one we've covered one

solving problems take it out of your head and put it on paper another one is

setting goals making these lists we've already started here's another good way

to think on paper it's a projects book each person you're working with and each

project you're working on get a loose-leaf binder and a tab and some

pieces of paper behind the tab and do a little continual summary of how it's

going between you and that person and between you and that project I call it a

projects book it is so useful to me but what's going on between you and this

person when you last got together what did you talk about and you got a few

notes there here's what we talked about the last time we got together now when

you get together again you can review that so you'll know better what to talk

about when the president gets ready to travel and he's gonna meet some

important people guess what they bringing all these briefing books all

right the last time you were with Khrushchev Kennedy is informed here's

what he said nears what you said Kennedy said no that's valuable I need to

remember that if a person is important it's worth a little running account you

might even have a project book for your children

here's what's happening between me and my child we've talked about this and

we've talked about this and we've talked about this next add a timer keeping

track of all of your appointments you know mine is all filled with you know

when to catch an airplane and when to do a seminar when to sit down and have a

conference all the rest next is a game plan you know if you've got a house and

the you know insurance is gonna come due and some other things are gonna come do

you just put it on a spreadsheet and make sure it's taken care of

key phrase take things out of your head and put them on paper and the key is to

just experiment with different ways that helps you to do that

now here's the last one thinking on paper and that's to keep a journal one

of the things I'm known for around the world have been now for 39 40 years is

keeping a journal now my journal is not a you know it's not necessarily a it's

not like a diary it might be part diary you know I'm flying over Ireland and

write down a few little things that impressed me today I met this person

what an extraordinary event today the scent I conducted this seminar in Rome

thousand people stood up was saying for me I've got a little bit of a diary in

there but here's what primarily your general is for collecting good ideas a

journalist to collect good ideas on your health and good ideas for your business

and good ideas for your future good ideas for time management cuz I used to

take notes on pieces of paper and torn off corners and backs of old envelopes

and restaurant placemats and I threw all this stuff in a drawer it did not serve

me well I found ly learn to get a bound copy right and just keep a journal write

five hours here I had my journal I'd be taking notes write these two days in my

journal now if you're caught without your journal you just take the notes

when you get back home you've put those notes in your journal throw the paper

away because we don't usually go through

paper to review but see my journals now make up a significant part of my own

library my journals all reserved privately for my children and my

grandchildren can you imagine what I've collected over

the years it's unbelievable there are three treasures to leave

behind I think you've already got those notes right here they are number one

your pictures don't leave the event unrecorded it takes only a fraction of

the scent of a second to say here's who I was with when I travel the world right

we take all these pictures and here's one of the gifts people send me the

pictures they took of me and them it's part of the treasures I have on the farm

incredible a picture's worth a thousand words to describe the scene the emotion

what happened say wow this was an extraordinary day for me when I met

these people here's what they told me happened to them when they went to my

seminar ten years ago Wow the drama comes back if you've taken the pictures

it's one of the treasures to leave behind when you go remember the old

photographs that we have now you know 100 years ago 70 80 years ago just a few

photographs what would it be like if you had thousands of photographs of the past

of your history your mother your father my grandparents so change all of that

now for your children leave all your photographs as a record here's what's

next to leave behind and that's your library

the books that changed your life the books that change your health the books

that rescued you from oblivion the books that you passed on to other people they

were so exciting for you the books that made you financially

independent the books that developed your leadership books that gave you

wisdom to ponder when things were tough the books that got you through the

winter the books that helped you to plant in the spring in the harbor

in the fall what a treasure to leave behind if you do that here's what's for

sure your books will be more valuable than your furniture Wow now the third

treasure to leave behind is your journals the notes you took that help

you to live life as you lived it long after you're gone

a treasure the children grandchildren great-grandchildren will find so

fascinating they may use it to help guide their

Messed Up Things About These Iconic Rock Bands - Duration: 4:38.

We expect our rock gods to play fast and loose in life, and maybe it shouldn't come as a

shock when they go a bit too far.

When late nights turn into early mornings and rock concerts turn into drug-fueled orgies,

the bad choices tend to start flying.

Here are just a few of the crazy things rock legends have done that they probably hoped

you'd forget about.

ZZ Top

Who knew that ZZ Top's Dusty Hill and Frank Beard met in a fake band built to cheat rock'n'roll

fans out of their hard-earned cash?

According to Buzzfeed, in the '60s, English rock group The Zombies had a hit stateside

with their song "Time of the Season," but were completely unaware of it.

Back then you could be a band in Europe and not know you were famous in America.

And, by extension, you could be a band's fan in the USA and have no idea what your favorite

musicians looked like.

That's how Hill and Beard wound up touring America, playing in fake Zombies outfits with

fake names, fake backstories, and real Zombies songs.

Fans and the press eventually realized that "The Zombies" sounded an awful lot like bluegrassy

boys from Texas, and the whole thing went belly up.

Thankfully, Hill and Beard realized they had something special, and started a band of their

own.

Derek and the Dominos

If you've ever heard Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" or John Lennon's "Imagine," you've

heard the work of drummer Jim Gordon.

He even co-wrote "Layla" with Eric Clapton, as members of Derek and the Dominos.

Unfortunately, Gordon was a deeply troubled man.

Voices in his head began as a child and only grew louder with age, according to a 1985

Rolling Stone article.

He abused alcohol, drugs, and women in his attempt to shut out the voices — none of

which worked.

The voice of his mother eventually controlled his every move, and in 1983, he showed up

at her apartment with a hammer and a knife.

She didn't make it out alive.

As of 2018, he remains in a psychiatric prison, convinced his mother is still alive.

Eric Clapton

Among other racist comments, guitar god Eric Clapton spewed these repulsive words out at

a 1976 Birmingham England concert:

"Stop Britain from becoming a black colony.

Get the foreigners out.

[...] Keep Britain white.

I used to be into dope, now I'm into racism.

It's much heavier, man."

Years later, Clapton claimed he was drunk when he went on the rant.

In the biographical documentary Eric Clapton: Life in 12 Bars, the rock star said he was

drinking a bottle of cognac for lunch those days — before snorting cocaine.

At a Q&A following the premiere of the doc, he said,

"I was so ashamed of who I was, a kind of semi-racist, which didn't make sense.

Half of my friends were black, I dated a black woman, and I championed black music."

Ah, the old "some of my best musical influences are black" excuse.

Mamas & the Papas

John Phillips was a legend of the '60s music scene, serving as the main songwriter behind

The Mamas & the Papas.

But, if his daughter, Mackenzie Phillips, is to be believed, there were dark doings

happening behind the happy facade of pop stardom.

In her autobiography, High On Arrival, she recounted taking a bunch of pills on her wedding

night and then waking up from a blackout to find herself in the middle of the act in bed

with her father.

Mackenzie, a sitcom star from the CBS hit One Day At A Time, claimed the relationship

eventually became consensual, lasting 10 years.

If her 2009 appearance on Oprah is any indication, John Phillips was a deeply disturbed man who

put his daughter through hell.

"Here's the deal.

Hurt people hurt people."

The Who

If anyone lived fast, it was The Who's Keith Moon.

He was buried young, and he also left another corpse in his wake.

In 1970, the legendary drummer was responsible for the passing of his driver.

According to Rolling Stone, the trouble started with a drunken bar fight with a group of skinheads.

Moon and his friends piled into his car, and in the chaos, his driver was knocked to the

ground, leaving a panicked, drunken Moon to take the wheel.

That's when he unintentionally drove over his driver, crushing his skull.

Moon was later cleared of all charges, with the judge coming to the conclusion that he

had, quote, "no choice but to act the way [he] did."

Aerosmith

Julia Holcomb was 16 when she met Steven Tyler in the fall of 1973 backstage at an Aerosmith

concert.

As Holcomb wrote for Lifesite, Tyler was immediately taken with her, insisting she come on the

road with him.

Since it would be illegal for him to travel across state lines with a minor, Tyler asked

Holcomb's mother to sign over legal custody — and she did.

Over the next few years the teen reveled in the rock star experience.

She got pregnant without ever quitting her drug habit, and Tyler apparently pushed her

to get an abortion.

She recalled,

"Steven sat beside me in the hospital until it was over.

When the nurse would leave the room he was snorting cocaine on the table beside my bed.

He even offered some to me once, but I just turned away, sick inside."

She left him soon thereafter, returning to the same mother who had let a rock star adopt

her.

Holcomb is now a born-again Christian and anti-abortion advocate, so that hard core

rockstar lifestyle is behind her, to say the least.

What is Microlearning? - Duration: 2:45.

Hi there.

I am John Bond from Riverwinds Consulting and this is Publishing Defined.

Today I am going to talk about microlearning.

This is an emerging trend in education, online learning, and training.

Microlearning deals with small learning units presented in short-term activities.

It is uses short-term-focused strategies with reinforcement and testing to ensure comprehension.

Microlearning is more than just taking long form content and breaking it down into short

sentences or small units.

The key to these short nuggets of content is being well thought out and the presence

of one learning objective.

Then these individual items or units are offered to the learner to help master an individual

concept or topic.

Of course, the ubiquity of smart phones and tablets have helped propel this type of learning.

The fabled shortened attention span of learners has added to microlearning's attractiveness.

A person can consume content and learn on the go.

Whether it is a new language, technical vocabulary, elements in the periodic table, or reviewing

math formulas, microlearning can be applied in many, many areas; all at the learner's

own pace.

Done in quiz form, this learning style can be addictive to some; as gamification has

proven.

According to Grovo, a microlearning platform, microlearning is 300% faster to develop, 50%

less expensive to produce, and 58% more engaging for learners.

There are obviously difficult concepts that microlearning is not right for.

But with the benefits of shortened time commitments, narrow topic focus, and easily digestible

knowledge nuggets, microlearning has a place in education and likely will become more acceptable

in teaching scholarly content.

Well that's it.

I am a publishing consultant and work with associations, publishers, and individuals

on a host of content related challenges.
