Waching daily Nov 1 2018

repeat after me: my life is changing because I AM changing

one thing I've noticed on this journey from traveling this year is that when you decide to

live your life purpose when you decide to take that action that's when things

changed that's when the game really starts that's when everything picks up

and manifests faster and faster one of the biggest things that happens when you

start saying yes to your sole purpose to your karmic agreement to the reason why

you manifested in this physical body as a consciousness as a conscious the light

being as a light worker is that the universe does everything that it can to

80 the universe helps you it throws you so many bonuses it throws you abundance

it throws you all these opportunities like for me today

we just booked our our trip to Bucharest Romania and we're going to be going to

these ancient sites we're going to be going to Bulgaria which has a lot of

power places with it and we're gonna be actually taking some time right now

before we head over to Romania to go to Venice place that I've always wanted to

see that I've always wanted to travel to and I never had that opportunity I never

had that experience until now and when you are on your purpose when you are on

your path remember your path is the path that you

say it will be so if you are saying that the path ahead is hard and arduous guess

what it's going to be that when you say that the path is easy and that you are

always guided no matter what then yes it will be that you have to dictate and

decide as a conscious creator as a powerful manifester what that

purpose is and whether or not that purpose will be hard or whether or not

that purpose will be easy you have to leave it up to a higher power in order

to get the results that you want now this is all well and fine if your

spiritual being and you're thinking to yourself yes I just have to give it up

to the universe but on the other hand we're here in the physical body so we

have physical means we have to pay rent we have to pay bills we have to buy food

we have to on and on and on we have to spend money we have to spend currency we

have to spend exchange we have to spend energy so how do you then go about doing

that how do you go about then taking your their purpose the reason why you're

here and turning that into some type of income stream for yourself so that you

can continue on the journey it's simple document pick one topic

right so let's say for example if you are passionate about consciousness

upload a video every single day if you're watching this video if you

understand English then you already have so many advantages that most people in

the world do not have if you can see this message through your smartphone you

can then upload videos every single day on a topic you can upload videos on

something that you're passionate about so for example if you like to talk about

consciousness upload a video every single day on consciousness if you like

to talk about crystals make a channel for crystals look it's so easy it's so

simple these days to literally pick one topic and just talk about it over and

over and over and just give different valuations you can make lists you can

make videos into lists you can make how-to videos on

spiritual topics you can do anything these days at all you need is your

smartphone my camera it's interesting because I was so pissed off earlier like

just a few minutes ago before recording when my camera just stopped like the

battery died or whatever and I didn't pack another battery and then I thought

to myself like shit like I'm really wanted like the sunlight I wanted to

capture nature etc etc but then I figured to myself you know what it's

gonna be what it has to be for right now and all I can do is do my part and all I

can do is stay committed to what I said I was going to do which was to make one

video a day about life purpose so for you if you have access to a smartphone

if you have access to a device if you can understand English then it's so much

easier you have such an advantage over the other billions of people that are in

this world that don't have that same opportunity so use that to your

advantage use that to gain a following use that to build a base when you start

recording and documenting every single day on one topic you then become the

go-to for that topic and when you become the go-to for that topic people start to

trust you people start to say wow that person she/he they they do this so well

they do this better than anyone else and it comes down to just that documents in

every single day when you live a life of purpose when you live every single day

as if every single date matters time goes so much faster life becomes so much

more enjoyable and magical and life begins to unfold and unravel in ways

that you couldn't even comprehend but all you have to do is take that first

action step all you have to do is hit that first step into the direction that

you want to go to if you say hey universe I am ready I'm ready to live my

life purpose I'm ready to do this I'm ready to be who I said I was going to be

well you take that action and you start doing that that's when things really

start to change and start to unfold for you in such a positive way

and I want to hear from you now what is it that you are doing to live your best

life if you're already on your path if you're already known knowing what your

life purpose is tell me what is that how how has life changed for you what is

life like now than it was before in the past

until next time I love you

BATAKLIĞA MI BULAŞTIN ? ( MUTLAKA İZLE ) - süleyman yılmaz - Duration: 5:03.

I'm gonna tell the video today. Joke joke :)

Do you like this video and share it? We're going.

You're desperate. Nothing

You can't taste. 'Worse than that

What could be? ' you say.

It's worse than that. Long at night

in the mornings; wake up

days you don't want.

You want to go outside.

But no one is hurt

he cannot grieve. That's why,

you have entered other ways;

Drugs, drinking, gambling.

for example. You've tried them all nicely.

Is not it?

But why? Because you're a bad person,

Not.

I know. I know..

You're in it to forget you

in these paths but in that You,

The first occasion reminded you of yourself.

You know. You've escaped yourself the most.

But you know what the laughable thing is?

The man would surrender to his escape. Hani

a full moon

smell of soil after rain,

And just watch a baby.

They all reminded of the wound inside

You. You want to run away from innocence.

Yes, innocence and you know it;

These are all examples I've given,

It reminds me of purity.

But You want to be pure. Because

dark hearts out at this time,

They used your purity.

They made fun of you. Purity,

it did not work in environments. SHE IS

dirty environments, useless environments ..

That's why they played with your trust and this

So you didn't want to surrender to that wound.

That's why he's on the wound

sometimes a house, sometimes a car,

sometimes the money, sometimes

You put a love that you love more than yourself.

You didn't know, but you're sad, you don't know.

The more he escapes the wound, the more

You were surrendering.

But that wound did something like that

Brother, He beat you up good,

but he recovered. He threw you in the fire.

but saved it from burning. That wound;

put your heart in between

She killed you in the best possible way.

That scar in the fall, you

to spring. And believe it

to his brother.

He wounds that thorns to you

he will make a tremendous laugh.

That wound; On behalf of the conscience they said.

and has placed a heart that will not be allowed to everyone,

He put it in your heart.

On all roads that hurt you;

in debts, in the swamp,

She never left you alone.

Between all of this, he kept you alive.

Now take a deep breath:

Your Lord did not leave you. He didn't give you a hard time.

And finally, you know, brother.

An aunt beating a carpet with a rolling pin,

not to damage that carpet,

It is to get the dust on the carpet.

And you know my brother; Your Lord,

She loved you so much,

burned You're supposed to bake.

It's all going through and patience with you

He was waiting. Patience, brother.

Did the prayer be united patiently; no pain,

it is not infinite. Patiently, brother.

Stay with the prayer. You're eaten by En Güzel.

Dont forget; End of patience,

Salvation. Soundly.

This video is for someone to share,

She got to you.

Maybe your share with others

insha'Allah .. If you want to be instrumental in this

Enjoy and share this video,

We would appreciate it if you could say your valuable thoughts in the comments section.

Fake Feminist Throws Bleach on Manspreading Men - Duration: 12:00.

well first of all if you ever heard a man spreading? vaguely and it was so

ridiculous that I just all right let it go but I can I I get it yeah it's this

notion how boys sit yeah guys sitting on a train and they spread their legs

really wide because they're guys and they're misogynist is the can take it up

space and all that is private in space yeah and women don't like it and that

stuff exists yeah although from my perspective I see a lot of people doing

that not just guys but yeah sure maybe guys do it more than than women fine so

this woman I think it's definitely guys do it more than you think so 100% okay

all right well so we'll go with that but there's this woman in st. Petersburg

Florida or Russia Russia Oh different places very different I'm sure I'm sure

they're both equally nutty yeah so she decides that she's going to film herself

getting revenge on these guys who are manspreading

on the subway now she is she pretty yes okay yes okay bite by certain spy by

Universal standards people would find her attractive and she's like 20 years

old so so she gets this solution of bleach and water which is apparently 30

times stronger than the bleach and water solution you would have you would use to

mix your clothes and she goes up and she pours it on these guys now I've got some

video of it and we can watch about it and we can talk about because I got some

background info on this too but uh yeah you see you're going into the subway she

is it's not all POV but the video kind of starts off that way there she is

she's got the water in the bottle there in her hand

there's

anyone manspreading and that's bleach bleach and water

that's bleach and water yeah that's that it's 30 times stronger than your

household we was gonna definitely say hey burn their skin and burn their yeah

potentially yeah so she kinda it's a kind of a montage she does this over and

over this went super viral last month is she in jail about a million views a day

no she should be in jail she should be in well you should be

arrested for that by American legal standards it's uh it's it's a salt

I mean it's salt it's a simple salt it's not aggravated assault but it's a salt

with I mean maybe like assault with intent to to bleach harm him assault

would it intent to make whites whiter and brighter brighter what is that like

you can't pour bleach on somebody that's like a terrorist act almost yeah well

people went crazy over this the video was shared around because it's it's an

easy video to react to right yeah supposedly she is some kind of feminist

champion or something supposedly that's the narrative built around it so I start

looking into this video and it turns out that it might be Russian propaganda like

from the Kremlin propaganda alleged allegedly no collusion and that part of

the story just recently came out in the last maybe week and a half so what would

the intent of this propaganda be just to like continue to rile up America and

service not just America but the West so basically the the whole Russian

propaganda movement is to find socio-political wounds that already

exist in society and basically stick your finger in there and hand so far

from the inside yes we're gonna get maybe that's provide

shut down its divide and conquer so so the the wound that they're picking at is

hyper feminism right right where you've got feminists on one side and then

you've got people on the other side who are like wait you can't just pour bleach

on people well man's correct you for one second I don't

think that any reasonable feminist would say that this is okay I agree so when

you say how feminist I was it I don't even know if you want to call her that

because you can't just be like I'm a feminist and then do some stuff that's

very against because I feel like the feminist movement is trying to make

headway in progress on particular issues yes and would never endorse something

that would take it back so I wouldn't I don't I would not say that she's a

feminist well she's an activist so she calls herself an activist for sure yeah

she is supposed to represent supposedly I mean first of all if it's fake she's

not either of those yeah and it does look like it if she's not well I guess

it's st. Petersburg so who knows but if she's not being arrested or right you

know the reason I asked if she was pretty and I hate to sound so shallow

but I feel like you could push boundaries farther if you're a

physically attractive person sure you can you get away with I mean that's

sociology do you ever dive ever do the experiment in sociology class where they

have half the class sentence one criminal and then they have the other

half sentence a completely different criminal and one of them is handsome one

of them's ugly the ugly one gets more jail time hands down every like like

double a picking class who's ugly and who's pretty no no no they they don't

point at a student ago you play the ugly ones they hand you a photograph and

they're like this guy it's it's silent oh so you read you read under the

photograph and it's like this guy committed you know assault and you know

aggravated assault and this and your options are to sentence him for one to

two years five to six years or ten years oh and the ugly one all right and it's

the same information it's just two different pictures one's ugly one's

handsome they hand half the class the ugly one without them knowing they hand

the other half the class the handsome one everyone thinks they got the same

one cuz you're not looking at anyone else's paper I never did that yeah yeah

yeah and then undoubtedly then the teacher shows the results and she's like

look there's even a bias in this class ugly guy got sentenced death yeah to

like life and handsome guys got parole damn so yeah it with conjugal visits I

mean cuz if that was a dude you get you get in a fight

someone's gonna especially in Russia especially in st. you're screwed

we're we're gay bashing physical gay bashing is still very much a thing the

the video would end with her getting punched right

without a doubt right and much less like arrested if that were some kind of that

guy were some kind of diplomat Russian diplomat you're you're screwed

so what happened what had happened was here's a couple of things there's this

there's this watchdog website called EU versus disinfo and they look for things

that European Union yeah they look for things that are Kremlin propaganda

Russian propaganda things that are meant to sow division amongst you know in the

West and things and they call it out and they say why so that that watchdog

called this video out said that it has ties to the Kremlin it was launched by

RT Sputnik and in the now which are three Kremlin funded news operations

like that's how it blew up plus the girl on her Instagram she's got her booty

pics and everything but she's also got some posts that are really supportive of

Putin and some other Russian diplomat characters dude that is scary nuts that

is scary shit dividing and conquering us like subtle and manipulative just

disintegrative that's not a word disintegrating us from the inside out

and we all fell for it not you rain what no I when I first saw

this video a month ago I thought oh wow that's that is insane the first of all

this is not happening in the US because I but somewhere else but this is this

video is wild like the whole we do a whole episode about the issue of man

spreading yeah you know it's it's like if someone is doing that if they've got

there if even if they got their feet up or whatever sure somebody's shoes off in

the movie you need to sit down you can be like hey can I can I sit here people

will move yeah it's like it's like a child when you know when you've got a

child and the child's crying there's like Timmy's playing Timmy took my truck

and he's playing with it and you say well did you ask him to give it back

no no yeah well go ask Timmy to give it back he might give it back

the odds are most guys who sit like that aren't doing it as a deliberate thing so

that they can take up more space and be more of a man you don't sit there it's

it's instinct it's how you sit it's it's it's how you walk and you had a way you

because you have testicles because you have testicles and because we're

different like men are have testosterone and women have estrogen and it makes us

physically different and have different emotions and things like that and men do

do things different have like different like dog reactions you know you mean

like we're all animals underneath so yeah you sit I sit like that all the

time but if some lady sat next to me maybe like they you need a bit of a

little bit better manners like cuz if some somebody sat next to me Ellie I

would like sit up and yeah I want to take anybody's space or whatever and

then certainly if someone said hey dude get your crotch out of my shit

I would like change my position easily oh no dude if I'm on a train if I'm

taking the five o'clock to San Diego or whatever and I've got my backpack with

me or anything and I sit down and there's an empty seat next to me my bag

is going in that seat yeah bout adout yeah it's not gonna stay on my back like

some kind of damn irremovable turtle shell it's going in that seat and the

only way I'm gonna move it is if someone asks me politely or if if I see that

someone's looking for a seat and oh yeah no you could sit here I just this is

just temporarily holding my bag yeah and I said I'm because I'm not a man

spreader or anything like that but I could see that being a thing like yeah

I'm gonna sit here like this yeah until until I noticed that it bothers someone

or until someone says hey can I sit in the seat next to you otherwise you I

might as well have one ass cheek on one seat and another ass you got another

seat I will cuz there's no one else on the

train there's no spread around you know like relax I will say though I do really

take issue with people who are oblivious to others around them I do to people who

talk full volume on their phone in crowded places people who like like I

said before take their shoes off and like put them on things like in the

movie theater or things where you just don't notice that you're taking more

attention than you deserve in a certain situation or not even attention but like

you're you know like hey man we're all here together like

take maybe maybe maybe don't have that giant radio on the subway

you know they got signs in the subway now like right aloud because people

would just go on a train with like giant boom boxes and shit or whatever feels so

rude that I that I don't like or or if there's like a 90 year old woman and

you're sitting on the train and you don't get up and give the get your damn

ass up and give that woman your seat or that man like what's wrong with you dude

what's wrong with you like that is the most honorable cool thing you can do is

like stand up and offer someone your seat I will give you a piece of advice

though sure you got you got a shoot shoot hi

you don't want to get up for someone who's who considers themselves to too

young to be offered a seat by a younger person right you get yourself in some

hot water right there I've done that a couple ma'am would you like usek I'm 41

you look oh sorry my bad I was gonna help you across the street

carry your groceries I'm 37 oh my bad oh god you look different yeah

wow you have aged horribly ma'am yeah horribly you need this seat yeah because

I feel so sorry for you yeah over the propaganda first time somebody does that

for you who's got to be a bad day oh yeah that's a good oh yeah what about

when you're what about when you're a hot woman but the first time someone calls

you a MILF you're like oh god I'm 46 crossed over yeah dude that that goes

geez that stuff that's amazing can we open

My heart breaks with tears..

I gave love with open heart..

My heart breaks with tears..

I gave love with open heart..

(Rap)

I have forgotten everything about that day..

The day when I sat holding your hand..

I cried all day thinking about you..

Reminds me of that day when we mate for the first time..

Keeping your bag on left shoulder & slowly walking by..

Old days floating in front of my eyes..

Looking here & there, Looking in bus & tram..

Your first look is in my mind..

Do you remember that night..

When clock ticks and alarm on 2 o'clock..

You called me and said "I love you"

I said only to see smile on your face..

You said you will take me throughout life..

I will see the whole world holding your hand..

Dreams become nightmare today..

A storm came and changed everything..

Yeah

yeahh

My heart breaks with tears..

I gave love with open heart..

My heart breaks with tears..

I gave love with open heart..

(Rap)

That hurts, Reside inside me..

You didn't allow me to hold your hand for the last time..

I cried alone, I burnt inside..

Didn't said how much it hurt me..

Reminds me of Coffee shop, Reminds me of that road..

I stood alone in that empty road..

Look that the table in snacks bar is empty..

You here and I am there! yeah..

Still I can't accept.. Of that day..

Don't love you in much pain..

You don't feel how much you love..

Cause you don't understand the meaning of love..

Yeah

yeahh..

My heart breaks with tears..

I gave love with open heart..

SMALL YOUTUBER TAG | We got a new video intro - Duration: 6:56.

Today we are going to do the "Small Youtuber Tag"

I didn´t come up with this tag

And it´s a series of questions

that have to do with us small content creators who are just starting out

Ok. First question

What inspired you to start making youtube videos?

Well, the thing that inspired me the most was...

about a year and half ago

Pope Francis met with content creators, with youtubers from all arround the world

and it caught my attention that they were not catholic youtubers

there were were different types: musicians, vloggers

they even had beauty vloggers

what I saw in that meeting was that content creators, youtubers

are a big comunity with a strong voice

and that got me thinking: I have a story to share

and I can inspire other catholic content creators

Second question

What does your name mean?

well, as you knowm the channel's name is RENE GOMEZ VLOGS

I didn´t want to give it a creative or extraordinary name

I just wanted to use my own name because my channel is about my daily life and the things I see

Third question

For how long have you been on Youtube?

I opened the channel about a year ago

arround september 2017

but the first video as such was the trailer for this channel

and I uploaded it arround...

January 7th... this year, 2018

fourth question

what is your tripod made out of?

I get the question beacause at the begining when I started recording

I would use books, magazines my own backpack, cushions, boxes, shoe boxes

but lately I got a small tripod

it´s this one. Let me show you

It's this tiny tripod. I got it from the...

that´s Brother Elton working...

So this is the Tripo I got from the chinese market

and that´s the one I use more often to shoot with

Next question

where do you see yourself and your channel in the next 5 years?

As yiu know I'm not a priest yet

so in 5 years I see myself as a priest

I see this channel... I hope it becomes an inspiration

for those who want to cast the nets in Youtube

and trying to become a positive influence

for the rest of the catholic world in Internet

sixth question

what video are you most proud of?

maybe the video about English and Spanish accents

The one I shot with Br Andre Bertnetsky

First of all beacuase it was so funny to shoot it

your reaction to that video has been very positive

so, maybe that's my favorite video

Seventh question

What message are you trying to convey with your videos?

That beauty and creativity are not at odds with my faith

I think that actually it´s the opposite

My faith pushes me to seek beauty and to strive to be creative

Eighth question

Do fellow students find your channel?

Do your friends and family know about your channel?

Yes

and I have to recognize that the brothers in seminary

from the begining have been very supportive of this project

sometimes jokingly they call me "the influencer"

but they´ve shared my content, they have my back

It´s the same with my family

when I went to Mexico a couple moths ago

the first ones to ask "are you going to record? what do you want to record?" we support you" were my brothers

nineth question

Who are your favorite small youtubers?

Well, I'm part of an online comunity for catholic youtubers

it´s calle YouCatBe

It´s an initiative that started about a year ago

gathering some small catholic youtubers

and all of them are my favorite small youtubers

Nevertheless...

within that comunity there are some that I like very much

I like their content and the "spark" they add to their content

just to mention some of them

I'm not comparing them with the rest

Some of my favorites are...

Ester Palma

She is a Spanish lay missionary in Korea

And shows what's like to live in Korea for a foreigner

She is really creaive

Another one is "Enchufa tu fe" (plug your faith)

A great channel, quite funny

and the contnent is well thought out

and lastly

Vanessa Wilches

I like very much the humor she adds to her content

Tenth question

If you had a budget, what type of content would you like to create ?

Soemthing in between Beautiful destinations

and maybe the dogmatic or theological content

from Bishop Robert Barron from the US

number 11

Who are your favorite youtubers?

and what channel would you like to resemble?

Definetly Peter McKinnon

He is a great photographer

The way he creates video inspires me a lot

I hope one day my content resemble a little bit his style

I'm also inspired by the channel Becky and Chris

She is a Canadian photographer married to an American doctor

and Father SMDANI (Fr. Daniel Pajuelo)

I like his channel because he has great content but above all

He is trying to build bridges

He is a catholic priest who is not afraid to engage in controversal issues

or to take into account the ideas of people who might not even be catholic

Number 12

What motivates you to keep producing videos even if you have not had success?

I'm not in youtube for the success

I want to inspire the next generation of content creators

So that the young generation that watches my videos

yes, I want to do something like that

I too I'm creative, I too am a creator I too want to go for it

And finally question 13

For you, what is the hardest thing about creating content?

Honestly just doing it

getting to shoot, planning

Not because I don't like it

but because as you know I´m a seminarian and I have daily responsabilities

Storm broke out...

The hardest thing for me is combining

my daily responsabilities in seminary

and this creative worlds that takes up a lot of time

So I think that´s my toughest difficulty

And that's this week´s video

Now you know abit more about myself

If you are watching this video and mede up to this point

You are a hero. Thank you so much for watching my content

If you are not subscribed

waith no more. Go down there

Hit subsribe and turn notifications on

so that Youtube lets you know every time I upload a video

it happens every Thursday

or at leats that´s what we´re tying

And that´s it. I love you all a lot

and I´m sneding you all a humongous hug

Take care. See you next week. Bye

The Norwegian Butter Crisis and the Ark of Taste: Citation Needed 8x02 - Duration: 15:37.

This is the Technical Difficulties, we're playing Citation Needed.

Joining me today, he reads books y'know, it's Chris Joel.

More of a value pack with each passing year.

Everybody's favourite Gary Brannan, Gary Brannan.

♪ I kissed a gull, and I liked it. ♪

Did you just say gull?

Yes, that was the joke.

-Okay, just... just clarifying that. -Enunciate, then!

And the bounciest man on the internet, Matt Gray.

♪ I... didn't come up with anything to say here. ♪

In front of me I've got an article from Wikipedia and these folks can't see it.

Every fact they get right is a point and a ding.

And there's a special prize for particularly good answers which is...

-That was pretty good. -Yeah.

And today we are talking about the Norwegian butter crisis.

Awrgh!

Of all the crises, up there with Cuban missile, I always find.

I can't believe that it's not a margarine crisis.

Well, that actually clarifies what I was going to ask which is...

-Clarifies! -Clarifies!

I'd like to say it was on purpose - no.

Just slid into that one.

The Norwegian butter crisis.

Was it a crisis involving butter?

In Norway.

You can both technically have a point for that, but I'd like a bit more.

Is that a bit like an essay question where you're just repeating the title

basically to get you out of deep water?

Now the question I have to try and think of the answer of is,

did they have too much or too little?

-Because... -"Aargh! There's so much butter!"

-I'm going for too much butter. -Butterlanche!

-Butterlanche? -Butterlanche.

The question was too much or too little?

-Well, too much. -Too little.

Exactly the right amount, which freaked everybody out.

Gary gets the point.

Too little butter.

So if there's a butter crisis does that mean there's a milk crisis going on as well?

-Oh! -Ooh. Yes.

Because doesn't butter come from milk?

Yes, it does.

Yay! Do I get a point for that?

Yeah. You don't get a point for butter coming from milk,

but you do get the point for…

But, yes, heavy rains during the summer affected the grazing of cows and reduced milk production.

So what happens if there is a shortage of butter?

You buy butter from somewhere else.

Toast is awful, it's just dry with a topping.

We're talking basic supply and demand here, there is less butter therefore…

Butter is more costly and only available to the crown heads of Europe.

I'm... I'm giving you a point for the first half of that answer.

Norway was gripped by smør-panik which translates as...?

Some more panic.

Some more...

-Butter panic. -Yes.

I can think of like a Norwegian panic scale

which is "nor-panic, smør-panik, lots of panic".

So, yes, it got to the point where a single pack of imported Lurpak butter…

Oh, Lurpak, oh...

Cost, oh, you know what, we get to do Price is Right rules here.

Here is a pack of butter.

-A pack this big? -Import...

-Here is a pack of butter. -Here is a pack of butter.

Mid-December 2011,

-so this is recent. -Salted or unsalted?

-It does not specify. -Because it does depend on the use,

because if it's unsalted that's more your bakers who are going to be throwing money at it.

Oh, no, this is... this is very much dietary butter.

-Dietary... -Dietary butter?

Dietary butter, there's a butter diet now?

I quote.

Slice it like cheese and put it on toast.

-Place your bids? -1,000 krone.

-1,000 krone. -Oh, s***, we're doing it in krone?

No, we're not doing it in krone, I don't have a calculator here.

I'm doing it in krone.

1,000 krone is about 100 quid, I think.

Yeah, that's more or less 100 quid, so…

1,000 krone!

I'm going to say the equivalent of 25 quid.

I was going to say 100 quid, but he's already got that, so let's say £150 or 1,500 krone.

Gary is correct, £32 for a small pack of butter.

Hang on, 32 quid for a pack of butter?

Yeah. It's about the same as you pay in Saino's now for Lurpak.

So why did this not get resolved by... by the free hand of capitalism?

Because the free hand of capitalism had too much butter on it,

it was all slippy and couldn't grip it.

They could pass the butter but they couldn't pick up the corners.

Just sliding out of their hands.

I think the butterfingers of capitalism

has just summed up everything that's wrong with the world, Gary.

I'm giving, yeah, you know what...

Mystery Biscuits.

Hey!

Actual satire.

Why did they not just import more butter?

-Tariffs. -Yes.

'Cos… 'cos not in EU.

-Yes. -Topical.

Hold on everybody, Radio 4, Radio 4, get the...

get the big reel to reel recorders running, we're coming.

Yes, tariffs on butter, there was a deficit of 500 to 1,000 tons of butter in the country.

Just one shipping container.

That they can see over the border in...

...Sweden? Norway?

-Yeah. -Yeah.

That is a land border.

Yes.

(Thank you.)

I'm all a bit hazy around that region, I don't know who's next to what.

Surely that affected Sweden as well because the weather should be similar around there, right?

You say that, what did some Swedes do?

Did they taunt them on the border by eating really thickly buttered toast?

-I'd do that. -I would actually, yeah.

To Lancashire!

Post butter over the border?

-Try and make... -Smuggle, butter smugglers!

Yes.

What's in the van? "Nøt bütter."

A number of individuals were apprehended by the authorities

for attempting to smuggle butter across the border,

whilst Swedes posted online adverts offering to drive butter to Norwegians.

Did they get around the customs by greasing their palms?

Hey!

No.

A Danish television show also broadcast something.

Television.

I need to learn to be more specific with my questions.

Did they just have some slow TV, Norway style,

but of just butter melting in a kitchen somewhere?

Someone's just watching going, "What a waste."

Sad chefs with empty pans go looking with big puppy dog eyes.

And going, "If only I had some butter."

Do you know what, yes, they broadcast a satirical emergency appeal to send butter.

This isn't a joke, there are people without butter in this country.

They gathered 4,000 packs to be distributed to butter starved Norwegians.

-Bloody hell. -Really.

There's a lot of very dark stuff in here, but there is also the Ark of Taste.

What?

Is that like the Ark of the Covenant but with… with tasty treats?

"Don't look at it! It's full of...!"

The butter just comes flying out, fried foods.

"I'm melting!" But it's butter, it's all just butter.

Is it an institution kind of thing that is a... a catalogue of national tastes?

So would it have the fermented fishy canny thing in it?

Almost, there's one word you're missing in there,

which is, yes, it's a catalogue of international foodstuffs and tastes and things like that.

Extinct.

Nearly.

You're not longer culturally dying out like Welsh died out, that sort of thing...

That'll do, endangered heritage foods.

So is it all stuff that people either can't be arsed to make any more,

they've decided it's not good for you and it's gone out of fashion kind of stuff

and then everyone's forgotten about it?

Yeah, pretty much, it may not be forgotten about, but it could be.

Or rules have presented it being done like unpasteurised milk, that kind of thing.

Does anyone want to name some of the things that are in the United Kingdom section of the articles,

just in terms of categories, if not exact things, what are we famous for historically?

Cornish pasties?

No, they're fine, aren't they?

There's loads of those, there was one on York Station this morning.

Just lying there abandoned, sad music playing over the top of it.

Some kind of cheese?

Yeah, it's mostly cheeses and grains, that's… that's the history of Britain right there.

What a great duo they were: cheese and grains.

-And potatoes. -Potatoes, really?

-Potatoes. -Any specific famous potatoes you might know?

King Edward?

Maris Piper?

You're just naming potatoes now.

That's what you asked us to do.

-What we're looking for here… -What, an individually famous potato?

What we're looking for here is the pointless answer.

The Koh-i-Noor potato that sat in the royal crown up until 1640,

until the English Civil War the middle of the English crown had a f***ing spud in it.

Jersey Royal, apparently...

How are they endangered?

It is listed here as being this… this endangered thing.

I smell bulls***.

Not in there.

Not in there, not in there sadly, there is old Gloucester beef.

Old Gloucester beef is just an argument in old Gloucester.

Well, you enjoyed it.

Not to be confused with a double Gloucester beef when there's only one piece of cheese left,

And you can't decide who wants it.

Come on Radio 4, come on, this is good.

We also have under food politics, the British Restaurant.

That from World War…

I saw, sorry, I saw your face go there.

-Ding! -That was the face of Gary going,

"I have remembered an archive fact."

Can I just say, readers, there's a... one of my things I'd like to get out on this…

-Did you just call them readers? -Yes.

They may be reading.

They're that bored they've all got a book out.

Not every fact comes from intelligent things, this is from Dad's Army.

The British Restaurant was a national restaurant in the Second World War,

that sold cheap and… cheap and good food to people.

-Yes, -Not just soldiers.

Absolutely right. It was a government... it was originally a community feeding centre.

-then Winston Churchill came along and… -Why did they change the name?

Yeah, Winston Churchill came along and decided that British Restaurant was a better name.

"The British Restaurant."

"We're serving brandy and you can have a large plate of brandy."

"And some cheese."

We also have the category here in Wikipedia of butter.

There is an entire article on Lurpak,

there is also an entire article on someone called Norma Lyon - L-Y-O-N.

She's an American farmer and an artist.

Who painted in butter or carved into butter.

-Yes. -Like the Lurpak advert,

remember it, this was in the 90s.

Yes, born in Nashville, Tennessee, what kind of things did she carve out of butter?

-President's faces. -Busts.

Cubes. Bricks.

Cathedrals.

They're made of bricks, just made of bricks.

Well, this was a specific thing at the Iowa state fair, and has been every year.

-Corn. -It's... oh, it's very apt

that you would carve this out of butter, it's almost…

-A cow. -A cow.

Yes.

The Iowa state fair butter cow.

That's taking the piss a little bit, isn't it?

Well, taking the milk, but you know.

If you're taking the piss, something's gone very wrong with your butter, mate.

Do they carve a specific cow or just the generic concept of cow?

Eh?

Oh, wow, Plato's World of the Buttery Cave.

Eh, how does that work?

Did they carve a cow or did they carve Daisy?

Oh, right, so a specific cow or just like an outline of, you know, cows. Yeah

So Daisy can look at butter Daisy made from Daisy's butter.

No, it was a generic cow,

but there were also some other topical things that were carved alongside it.

A milk urn or whatever it's called.

No, topical for whatever was going on in the world that year.

A tank.

-Well, it would have been World War 2. -What was the year?

Basically every... what I have for a list here is everything since 1996.

Every year since 1996 they've carved something out of butter?

They've carved both a butter cow, that's been since 1911

and since '96 there's been something else there.

-Tony Blair. -Spice Girls.

We've both hit 1996 there.

You see, what was weird was what I didn't get out in time was 'Mr Blobby',

so I would've been about '96.

I think we were in Britain in 1996, weren't we?

No, some of the things include Tiger Woods,

when he... when he won the golf.

-Bill Clinton. -A saxophone,

something that's definitely just a cigar?

-Yes. -Ah. No, that... that year...

What year was that? Good grief.

That would be about 99, no, 97, it will have been around 96, 97.

No, an American eagle was there that year.

America.

And in 2007, Harry Potter.

-Of course. -Wow!

-Harry Butter. -Hairy butter?

-Hairy butter? -Send it back to the cow.

Alright, there was one last thing I want to talk about in the category of butter.

The great sentences of our time!

This is the butter episode, and I would like us to talk…

The butter episode.

About artificial butter flavouring.

Eurgh, just don't.

God, you sound like this chair at an agricultural conference,

"There is... and finally, delegates, there is one thing I would like to talk about,

"the scourge of artificial butter flavouring."

"Crusty butterers."

The thing is: it is a scourge.

It is a scourge?

A scourge is actually a pretty good word for this.

Things that are calling themselves butter when they aren't really butter,

but they've got pretend butter in them.

Yeah, it's butter flavouring that goes into other stuff.

"'Tis but-ter flavouring!"

And that's from the new BBC2 series, "William Shakespeare, food analyst".

Including a very modern bit of technology.

-VR. -iPhones!

No, we're looking for something pretty modern, technology that's…

that's used by a lot of people.

Condoms. Buttery condoms.

Oh, no.

-No. -Hey, I've seen whiskey flavoured

and smoky bacon flavoured ones in pubs, so that must be possible.

Those are the crisps, Gary.

The thing you're going to in the bathroom to get your crisps from, they're not crisps.

Oh, that's where the kid came from.

This is something that is causing lung problems.

-Fags. -Oh, vape!

-Yes. -Buttery vape?

Buttery vape, popcorn flavoured vape

or butter and popcorn flavoured vape was a thing for a while.

And now they are trying to sell it without these chemicals in.

But that... that is vaporising some liquid, so can you just put butter in it?

Use aerosol butter, yeah.

Or spreadable, that's more liquefied, isn't it?

Yes, yeah, yeah, more oils though, you've got to be careful.

I don't think inhaling actual butter is a...

is any better than inhaling diacetyl fumes.

Ah, but is it tastier?

There's only one way to find out, folks.

Smash cut.

And why didn't that flavouring, that margarine, everything like that,

why didn't that solve the Norwegian butter crisis?

Because it's dreadful.

Yes, that is actually the case.

Well, margarine, if you've ever seen it in its natural form, is really unappetising,

just a grey lump, isn't it?

It is coloured yellow so it looks more like butter, and therefore appetising.

Yeah, you're absolutely right, margarine was such a poor substitute by Norwegian standards,

that they went out and bought the butter instead.

I have lower standards than Norway.

And what year was this?

2011.

Oh, so that was still when you could get reasonable butter substitute?

Yeah, because...

It's still... it is still definitely a substitute?

It is still definitely a substitute and that was why there was smør-panik,

butter panic in Norway.

And that's what the Smiths song, 'Panic' is about.

Panic in the streets of Oslo?

Yeah, but Morrissey will be enjoying that because he's a vegan,

he's known as a vegan, isn't he?

I think what we're learning here is that Morrissey caused the butter crisis.

"Morrissey!"

Matt, congratulations, Matt, you win the show.

Yay!

You win a chocolate bar shaped like a cartoon frog

that is also the lead singer of a Queen tribute act.

F*** off, I've got this.

Gary?

Freddo Mercury.

And with that we say thank you to Chris Joel,

to Gary Brannan,

to Matt Gray.

I've been Tom Scott, we'll see you next time.
