Waching daily Dec 17 2018

everybody's talking about it you're wondering about how to market to the

Millennials and right now you're thinking marketing to Millennials and

direct mail don't go together on this video I'm going to reveal the

information found in the most recent report published by USPS buckle up

because we're starting right now

hey it's Matthew welcome back to car count hackers if you're new here we're all

about growing your car count income and profits so that you can improve the

lifestyle of everyone you care about go ahead and hit that subscribe button ring

the bell icon and you'll be on your way so I asked you at the beginning you're

thinking about marketing to Millennials I hear it all the time people struggle

they can't you know it can't get to those Millennials and all that stuff I

just went over the most current report from USPS and it was produced by Summit

research so are you ready to get going and find out what they found out because

I'm gonna show it all to you right now just one more thing in the comments

below be sure you let me know what you think about all the information that

summit found and USPS published just so that we're all on the same page here

it's the age breakdown that summit used to put this report together overall male

engagement has increased since 2012 and Millennials are at least as engaged with

mail as non Millennials regardless of age most consumers get their mail at the

first opportunity and then sort it at the first opportunity usually the same

day indicating a high value of mail and although they receive less mail overall

Millennials spend more time sorting their mail and are more active consumers

of mail and when a report looked at the consumers response to direct mail it was

pretty clear 87% of them said they would rather receive mail than a telemarketing

call 86% of consumers said I take time to look through my mail 84 percent of

them said receiving something in the mail is preferable to a telemarketing

call but wait there's something here that's gonna just

your mind 81% of consumers said receiving a handwritten letter note or

greeting card in the mail still has a lot of value and I've covered this

information I'm going to link to a video up here gonna cost you 17 cents and

you're going to start to bond that relationship between you and your

customers but right now let's get back to this report so if you're not sold on

direct mail and you will be by the end of this video maybe you're thinking

email well here's what the report found 62 percent said I'd rather scan for

useful information by going through my mail than email but hold on there's

something else 52 percent of consumers said local stores

need to make better use of mail I don't want to say I told you so but I told you

so so now you're thinking maybe about

privacy because let's face it privacy has been a big issue it's been in the

news about about data hacks and things like that so let's look at how consumers

look at mail and privacy 78 percent claim they really value the privacy of

mail seventy-six percent of consumers say they value the reliability of mail

and 76 percent also value the security of mail I hate to say it but wait it

gets even better seventy-three percent of consumers say if someone I don't know

wants to do business with me I'd advise them to use mail and 45 percent of

consumers said businesses in neighborhoods need to do a better job

using mail to keep me informed the report ended with some generalities and

customer behaviors consumers say that they like to discover what's in the mail

and consider time with the mail to be time well spent and of that 47 percent

fifty percent of a more Millennials and if you're still not sold on Direct Mail

when talking to consumers eighty-six percent claim that they pick up mail at

their first opportunity and 89 percent of those were Millennials so if you want

to market to Millennials don't you think you should at least

be looking at direct mail and I'm also gonna link a video I did up here about a

simple strategy on how to use direct mail because it's dirt cheap and easy to

do you can start that today but if you want to round out your marketing go

ahead and check the links down below I'm putting on a brand new free training

course how to double your car count 89 days without wasting any of your

hard-earned dollars on that money sucking advertising and once you've done

that come on back here and watch these videos how you can virtually double the

pricier oil change without raising your parts pricing or your shop rate and then

go ahead and hit that subscribe button ring the bell icon that way I'll be sure

to see you on the next video I'm Matthew take care and talk soon

5 Stocks to Beat the FAANG Stocks in 2019 - Duration: 7:22.

5 Stocks to Beat the FAANG Stocks in 2019 -- with David Moadel

welcome to looking at the markets with David Modell you've probably heard about

the Fang stocks F Aang Facebook Apple Amazon Netflix and Google also known as

Alphabet those are very popular tech stocks some people say they are the

leading tech stocks some people actually say that those Fang stocks have been

holding up the markets for a couple years now at least well you can invest

in those stocks because those are big companies a lot of people say those are

good companies but are they necessarily the future is Facebook necessarily going

to be the way of the future mmm I don't know is Netflix going to be

the way of the future I don't know consumer demand and

consumer trends shift business trends shift so I'd like to look at a different

acronym Fang is an acronym and so is stars sta RS could the stars replace the

fangs is it possible in the new year in 2019 hmm

let's take a look five stars stocks to beat the fangs no guarantees of course

you have to make your own decisions do your own due diligence but I believe

that's possible that the stars could be the fangs well what does sta RS stand

for well the first one the S is Shopify ticker symbol shop and by the way I got

this information from an article in Investor place.com I'll put that link in

the description below this video you can click on it all right

Shopify current valuation 16 billion dollars okay so not as big and these

stocks I'm going to tell you about today they're not as big as your apples and

your Amazons and your Google's okay so you're going to be taking a little bit

more risk but it could be bigger reward okay just as Facebook and Netflix

replaced other older companies in the public eye the stars stocks could

replace the fangs it's possible you got to start some

you might have to start small Shopify the digital commerce landscape is

becoming increasingly complex and diversified and as complexity and

diversity continue to grow retailers of all shapes and sizes could turn to

e-commerce in a blur Shopify to simplify and streamline the e-retail experience

Erie Tale and e-commerce are the way of the future yes I know Amazon eBay sure

those are big but there's always room for competition

could it be Shopify if it is then you want to get in probably before it gets

real big the tea and stars trade desk ticker symbol TTD you may not know much

about these guys at trade desk current valuations six billion dollars not huge

room for growth programmatic advertising is the future of digital advertising and

as the whole digital ad landscape switches to buying ads with machines

programmatic advertising leader the trade desk could out perform that could

be the way of the future programmatic advertising done with machines AI

artificial intelligence is huge and growing and trade desk could grow with

it going moving on in stars the a in stars is Adobe probably heard of those

guys ticker symbol a DBE current valuation 130 billion dollars this one's

a little bigger the importance of visual information and solutions is only

growing in today's visual centric world and Adobe currently is and projects to

remain the king of the visual cloud it is a visual world it's a visual Internet

out there Adobe already big company but it could get even bigger let's take a

look at the are in stars Roku do you know about Roku current valuations seven

billion dollars not huge compared to the fangs as the number of streaming

services rises significantly and the Internet TV market starts to look more

like the linear TV market over the next several years Roku is optimally

positioned to become the streaming industry's cable box so to speak a

position that could command a premium valuation very soon ok it could happen

over time could happen as soon as 2019 but streaming is big people are cutting

the cord cutting the cable so that could be huge in the final s and star's square

current valuation 37 billion dollars through enabling digital payments of all

sorts across the globe square is morphing into the backbone of modern

commerce and becoming indispensably valuable to both buyers and sellers

squares already heavily discussed in the financial media but I believe it has

room to grow as do all of the stars stocks so what about you are you gonna

start looking at the Stars stocks because the media mostly talks

about the things the financial media the mainstream traditional media they may

not want you to look at the Stars stocks so much and other mid-sized companies

compared to the things but your job is to do your own due diligence make your

own decisions okay so what do you think of the Stars

stocks do they have a bigger future do they have more room to run than the

fangs are the fangs already too expensive I mean look how expensive

Amazon stock is look how expensive Google stock is and we see this year at

the end of 2018 Facebook as far as the stock price is concerned looks like it's

on the way down or at least it's down considerably from its all-time high my

name is David Modell if you'd like some help with picking out stocks and putting

together a trading plan you can email me at David Modell at gmail.com hey if you

like this video please give it a thumbs up on YouTube and leave a comment let me

know what you think of the Stars stocks are they bigger and better potentially

than Fang stocks and if you haven't subscribed to my youtube channel please

subscribe and hit that notification bell on YouTube so you can receive the

latest updates whenever I put out videos like this hey thanks a lot I really

appreciate it and I'll talk to you again soon

TCPA Definitions - What Is an Autodialer in 2018? - Duration: 9:57.

Derek: Hello everyone, Derek Johnson with tatango.com and we are answering questions

from the internet with an actual TCPA attorney, John Nelson.

One of the questions we just got is, "How have courts dealt with the definition of auto

dialer?"

So auto dialer, in 2018, and we're filming this in well, November I guess now.

John: Yeah and we've had a lot happen between March and November of 2018 on this issue.

And, again, this requires a little bit of back story to kinda get up to date.

So since really the beginning of the TCPA in 1991, the issue of auto dialer, automatic

telephone dialing system, and how that term should be defined, you know, has been a central

issue to the FCC and to courts across the nation.

And in 2015, the FCC, which governs the TCPA and kind of the nitty gritty of it, came out

with an interpretation of that term that was extremely broad.

Broadened to the point that actually in March of 2018, the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals,

in a decision called ACA International, struck down that decision as unreasonable, that interpretation

of auto dialer, as unreasonable.

And essentially at that point, what happened was, "We don't think the definition the FCC

has given us is reasonable.

We don't believe that we are in a position to define that term for the FCC.

We are now putting it back on the FCC's plate and saying, 'you define it.'"

Now, since that happened, the FCC, obviously, it takes a lot of time to kind of get to the

finality of issues, hasn't interpreted this term.

Derek: They have not?

John: They have not.

Derek: Okay.

John: So it has been left to the individual courts across the United States to interpret

for themselves.

Derek: Until the FCC does it?

John: Correct.

Derek: Okay.

John: And essentially what we've gotten between March and, you know, as recently as yesterday

are interpretations of the auto dialer term.

Derek: Like different interpretations.

John: Different interpretations.

Derek: And these are the courts, like judges?

John: Correct.

Individual judges in federal courts across the country.

Derek: Because there is no standard thing the FCC has put out, it's their right to determine

it the way that they want.

John: It is their right and it is their duty, and they have been doing this and they have

been doing it rather differently, reaching diverging conclusions about how broad or how

narrow really that term should be adopted, to the point that we now, at our firm, have

come up with the ATDS interpretation continuum, if you will, of decisions.

And really what this has done, has led to kind of two divergent roads, two very contrasting

opinions about how this definition should be defined.

And really this boils down to three issues in the auto dialer definition.

They are the device's capacity to function as an auto dialer.

You know, should this just be based off of the device's present capacity as that device

actually exists, or its potential or probable capacity, you know, if it was changed in some

way.

Derek: Like what it could do.

John: What it could do eventually.

Derek: Yeah, okay.

John: The second issue is whether the device's auto dialer functions must be in use at the

time the alleging texts are made.

So, think of it as a switch.

Was that switch, the auto dialer switch, on when the text message was made, and is that

the only way that it violates the law, or even if that switch is off, even if it's a

manual text at that time, does that still violate the TCPA?

And then the third issue, and this is the really big one that we've been mentioning

a lot, is whether the ATDS definition only includes devices that can generate and dial

random or sequential numbers, or if it also includes devices that can dial numbers that

have been stored in that device from a very specific curated list of consumers who...

Derek: Like an opted-in list.

John: Like an opted-in list, correct.

And those are the three kind of big issues that have drawn two separate kind of lines.

Derek: So when you say that, you're talking about there's a bunch of different judges

in all kinds of different areas in the United States, and those are the issues that judges

continue to kind of waver on and decide on different, like one of the issues, you know,

whether it can store the numbers or not, or whether it's automatic.

You see judges actually ruling on both sides of that.

So that's where the confusion is.

It's not like those three things have been established.

Those are the problems that, because some judges think this way, some judges think this

way, and that's why we need the FCC to really come in and define it.

John: Correct.

And the interesting thing, you know, that we've been seeing, is not that, you know,

there are divergent interpretations.

Right?

Derek: Okay.

John: We see this in every area of the law in lots of cases.

You know, this is actually one of the main reasons the Supreme Court will hear a case

is because two major circuit courts have reached contrasting decisions about an issue.

Derek: Based on the same issue, like the same writing?

John: Based on the same question, correct.

Derek: Okay, yeah, yeah.

John: And that's normal.

What's really interesting here is that, you know, courts are reaching different interpretations.

You know, sometimes even the same court in different cases, or in neighboring jurisdictions

within the same circuit.

And that's really the interesting thing here.

You know, we are seeing courts that, you know, might be in the same state but have a different

portion of that jurisdiction reaching completely opposite conclusions about, you know, a term.

Derek: Well, one thing I found interesting that I think puts things in perspective is

the judges that are hearing these cases, they don't live and breathe text message marketing...

John: No, they do not.

Derek: ...they don't live and breathe TCPA compliance.

Most likely they might not have ever received a text message from a brand.

So I can see why somebody like...and these are the same judges that also do car wrecks

and, like, divorces.

So they are very broad things that they're looking at.

I can understand where they're getting completely...they see it so differently because ATDS, like,

what is that?

John: Such a technical term, yeah.

Derek: Yeah, and they gotta make a decision, so I can even see within the same kind of

courthouse people are just like, "Well, it sounds like, you know, this."

So that's, I guess, where the FCC really helps, because everything flows down from the FCC

until...you know, so that would make it good, but until that happens, everybody is just

making their own, like, interpretations.

John: And that's very dangerous for callers out there.

Derek: For like the brands that are doing text messaging, because it really could swing

either way on every one of those three, and that just makes it harder to plan.

John: It makes it very unclear for them to know whether the device that they use or the

platform they use is or is not going to be defined as an automatic telephone dialing

system.

And what's even worse is that if they are sued in opposing jurisdictions, in one jurisdiction,

their platform could be deemed not an ATDS, and then in the other, it could be.

And now if you get that...

Derek: Because it's not a higher court, it's the same level of court, so they don't need

to rely on what happened in this one or this one.

John: Correct.

And they'll look to each other but, you know, we're still seeing, you know, those two camps

emergent, and this is very dangerous for marketers and brands out there.

Derek: So the answer is the FCC really needs to come up with, or narrow the definition

or clarify the definition.

And, again, I'm guessing they don't tell you when they're going to do that.

John: They don't.

They are...you know, again, in May of 2018 they released a public notice asking for comments

on these TCPA interpretation issues.

Derek: So it's in progress kind of?

John: It is.

Derek: So at least you know it's...

John: It's in progress and, you know, the feedback is ongoing.

So brands are still, brands, everyone in the industry really is still being encouraged

to, you know, help guide the FCC and help the FCC, you know, realize the issues they're

facing and how they should interpret this extremely important term.

Derek: Makes sense.

And the FCC, they're good people, they want to help the businesses.

But also, that term applies to so many different kinds of calling, so many different kinds

of businesses and texting, calling, faxing, it's not as easy as just, "Well, you know,

just, it's this."

So I'm guessing it's going to be a big definition when it comes out.

John: It is, it will, it will.

Derek: Okay.

Well, that's interesting.

Well, that is a great answer to how have courts dealt with the definition of auto dialer.

And is that the same as ATDS?

John: It is, they are the same.

Derek: Okay, because a lot of people throw that acronym around, ATDS.

What does that stand for?

John: Automatic Telephone Dialing System.

Derek: Okay, or just auto dialer.

John: Correct.

Derek: Same thing, okay, in 2018.

Okay, my name is Derek Johnson from tatango.com.

We're answering TCPA questions.

This was a great answer.

Also ATDS, auto dialer, didn't even know, that's great that they're all the same.

Makes it easy.

This is John Nelson, a TCPA attorney, and, again, we're answering TCPA questions from

the internet.

Glowing Eyes Costume // Becky Stern - Duration: 5:15.

Welcome!

Today I'm building two sets of LED eyes that change with a wireless remote.

You can find the step-by-step tutorial for this project at the link in the description,

including the parts list, circuit diagram, Arduino code, and sewing pattern.

Let's go.

I made the first version of this project a few years ago for Adafruit, and the basic

version is perfect for beginners.

The circuit's just two NeoPixel jewels and a Gemma microcontroller.

But this year, for a DJ and laser performance my boyfriend and I were doing at my hackerspace,

I wanted to create twin ghost hoods with colors that changed simultaneously using a single

remote.

In comes the latching 315Mhz RF receivers and matching remote.

These little sets create basically a remote button press, driving the corresponding pin

HIGH when the remote signal is detected.

That's the nerd alert!

This month, a bunch of nerdy creators, including myself, are participating in #NerdThunder!

It's a way for you to find more curious & passionate makers you might not have already known, so

check out everybody's links in the description.

I started with the NeoPixel part of the circuit, using six-inch pieces of wire to connect the

power, ground, and signal wires.

Then another three wires connect between the first jewel and the Gemma, which are long

enough to reach from my face area to the lapel area, in my case about 16 inches.

I like to use thin gauge silicone coated stranded wire, which is flexible like a noodle.

I used female header wires to connect the receiver, which already comes with right angle

headers installed.

To power each circuit, I'm using a 500mAh lipoly battery and some 3D printed holders

that get stitched inside the costume.

After assembling the two circuits, I tested out various LED animations and the remote.

As I suspected, running the receivers at three volts instead of five still works, but the

range is somewhat reduced.

Onto the sewing portion of the project.

I used the same printable pattern I designed the first time around, and cut it out of folded

white fabric.

Since I'm making two, I doubled the fabric over again so I could cut all the pieces out

at once.

I ultimately cut out another layer in white cheesecloth to add some more texture.

The hood piece and shoulder piece each have shaping seams that need to be closed up first,

then they get sewn together at the neck seam.

Next, I stitched a seam along the top of the hood, with right sides together.

A piece of 19 gauge galvanized steel wire supports the front edge of the hood, so I

folded over the fabric and sewed a hem which will serve as a channel for the wire.

I cut the face panel from sheer black fabric to roughly match the shape of the hood opening,

then pinned and sewed it in place.

The wire end should be curled to prevent it from catching on the fabric as it travels

through the channel, then the other end should be curled too, both so the wire doesn't stick

you while wearing it, and to provide an anchor point for hand-stitching the wire ends in

place.

To figure out where to place the LEDs, I found it easiest to just wear it and use a mirror.

Then I used matching thread to stitch through the black fabric and circuit board mounting

holes.

I tack-stitched the wires to the inside in a few places, and switched to white thread

for securing the battery holder, microcontroller board, and wireless receiver.

After testing, we discovered the white fabric was letting too much light onto the face,

so I cut another layer of just the hood portion of the pattern from some opaque black fabric,

and lined the hoods.

Another key improvement was for visibility.

Although you can see reasonably well through the sheer black fabric, my boyfriend couldn't

read the small text in his Abelton DJ software, so I removed the top section of the sheer

fabric in his hood.

But from far away in the dark, you really can't tell the difference.

After the party, we marched in the NYC Halloween Parade with my SVA students, who made electronic

costumes as a class project.

Don't forget there's a step-by-step tutorial for this project on Instructables, and there's

a link in the description.

Thanks for watching!
