11 signs you might have heart disease.

Around 11 per cent of men and nine per cent of women in the UK have been diagnosed with

some form of heart or circulatory disease.

But what symptoms can we look out for that might indicate a potential heart problem?

David Newby, BHF John Wheatley Professor of Cardiology at the BHF Centre of Research Excellence

at the University of Edinburgh, tells us more about 11 signs that could mean it's time

to see a doctor.

1.

Chest pain.

It's the classic sign of a heart attack, yet many people don't realise this could

be a medical emergency.

Professor Newby says: "If you have chest pain and you feel extremely unwell, you should

dial 999 and get an ambulance as soon as possible.

If it's a heart attack, it's usually described as a heaviness, tightness or pressure in the

chest; people will often describe it as 'an elephant sat on my chest' or 'it felt

like a tight band around my chest,' that sort of constricting feeling.

"If chest pains occur when you are exerting yourself, but go away when you stop, that

would suggest it's more likely to be angina.

That would still mean you should go and see a doctor, but you don't have to call 999."

Professor Newby advises that chest pains accompanied by feeling extremely unwell, mean it is probably

the right time to call 999 and request an ambulance.

2.

Feeling sick.

Obviously not every bout of nausea equals a heart attack – but if you're getting

pain as well, alarm bells should ring.

Professor Newby says: "If you experience intense chest pain even when you are just

sitting around doing nothing and you are also feeling sick, that is the time to call for

an ambulance."

If you're getting some discomfort, but not intense pain, as well as feeling sick, call

NHS 111 for advice.

3.

Stomach pain.

Professor Newby says: "Because the heart, the gullet [the passage between your mouth

and stomach] and the stomach are all lying right next to each other, the challenge, for

both members of the public and doctors, is that a burning or indigestion-type pain and

heart pain can be difficult to disentangle.

You could call NHS 111 for advice – they have certain algorithms they apply, but they

aren't perfect as there are no hard and fast rules that apply to everyone."

4.

Feeling sweaty.

Working up a sweat when you've been to the gym or because it's a really hot day, is

nothing to worry about.

But feeling hot and clammy along with chest pains is a sign that you should call an ambulance.

5.

Leg pain.

Professor Newby says: "If you get a gripping, cramping sensation in your calves when you

are walking, it might be worth seeing your doctor, as that can be a marker of PAD (peripheral

arterial disease).

It's most common in smokers and people who have diabetes."

Make an appointment with your GP.

6.

Arm pain.

You might not associate arm pain with your heart, but it can be a sign of a heart attack.

Professor Newby says: "If your pain is going down the arm, especially the left arm, or

into the neck that makes it more likely to be heart-related than indigestion.

If it doesn't go away, or if you know you have heart disease and have used your GTN

(glyceryl trinitrate) spray two or three times to no discernible effect, you should be seeking

emergency medical advice."

Call 999 for an ambulance.

7.

Jaw or back pain.

Professor Newby says: "With heart attacks, it can even happen that the pain is felt in

the jaw, or the back.

Again, if it doesn't go away, call 999 and ask for an ambulance."

There is some evidence that women's symptoms are more likely to vary from 'classic'

chest pain, and we know that women are less likely to seek medical attention and treatment.

8.

Choking sensation.

Professor Newby says: "The word 'angina' actually means 'choking', and sometimes

the tightness or pain can be up in the throat.

People tend to describe a 'restricting' or 'choking' sensation."

If the feeling continues, and you haven't previously been diagnosed with heart problem,

you should call NHS 111 – but if you have some of the other signs listed here as well,

it might be safer to call an ambulance.

9.

Swollen ankles.

Professor Newby says: "This shouldn't be ignored, especially if the ankles get really

big, as it can be a marker of heart failure, but it is also very common and has lots of

other causes.

It could just as easily be from tablets you are taking – for example, blood pressure

medication can lead to swollen ankles."

If you're getting swollen ankles, it's worth making an appointment with your GP.

10.

Extreme fatigue.

Feeling tired all the time can be a symptom of heart failure, as well as of other conditions.

Professor Newby says: "Many of my patients tell me they're tired, whether they've

got heart failure or not, whether they've got angina or not!

It's a difficult one, because it's so non-specific."

If you're tired and you've been working long hours or staying up late, it's probably

not your heart – but if you start experiencing extreme tiredness and your lifestyle hasn't

changed, it's a good idea to chat to your GP.

11.

Irregular heartbeat . Professor Newby says: "This is a hot topic

at the moment, there's a lot of focus on diagnosing irregular heartbeats.

I did an audit of the heart monitors we give out to people for investigation and from about

700 people, we found only about 20 that had atrial fibrillation [which can increase your

risk of stroke].

The vast majority of people just had extra ectopic beats, which are usually harmless.

"I would suggest that a jumped heartbeat is usually benign and nothing to get too concerned

by.

Being aware of your own heartbeat is really quite common and in itself nothing to get

anxious about.

Santa Claus: The True Story - Duration: 14:32.

"He sees when you are sleeping, he knows when you're awake.

He knows when you've been bad, or good.

So be good, for goodness sake…"

If you live in the western world, you already know this line from "Santa Claus is Coming

to Town" by Harry Connick Jr.

We've all heard the songs and seen the movies, but you may not know the true story behind

the legend of the man who can fly around the world in just a single night.

For over a thousand years, St. Nick has been credited with selflessly leaving presents

to boys and girls out of the goodness of his heart, and he has been bringing the holiday

spirit around the globe for centuries.

He has been known by so many different names over the years- Saint Nicholas, Kris Kringle,

Father Christmas, Père Noël...And while all of the variations of the story have changed

over the years, they are all referring to the same man.

Today, on Biographics, we are going to talk about the life and legend of Santa Claus.

The Early Life of St. Nicholas Nicholas of Bari was born in the 4th Century

in the town of Myra, located in Asia Minor.

This is now located modern-day Turkey.

His parents were wealthy Christians who had trouble conceiving a child for years.

They prayed to God every day to have a child of their very own, and as soon as they finally

conceived and gave birth to a son, it truly was a miracle.

Sadly, Nicholas' parents would die of an epidemic that had spread throughout the city

of Myra, leaving him to become a young orphan.

He was raised by his uncle, who was the Bishop of Myra, and never had children of his own.

He was very proud of his nephew, especially when he grew up to be a very well-behaved

boy.

His uncle apparently announced to everyone in the church that he had a vision that his

nephew would grow up to bring joy to many people.

When Nicholas grew up, his uncle's prophecy actually did come true.

He was always kind to others, and went out of his way to help people.

As an orphan, Nicholas had a special place in his heart for the children in town, and

he would often help them make handmade toys to play with.

Even though he was from a wealthy family, he still had a lot of sympathy for the poor,

and he wanted to do whatever he could to help.

There was a man in the town who had three beautiful daughters.

But he was so poor, he could not pay for a dowry.

This meant that his daughters could not get married, and they would have to be sold into

slavery, because the father could not afford to support them.

Nicholas wanted to help, but he did not want to hurt the father's pride by offering a

donation face-to-face.

So he dropped a bag of gold down the chimney, which landed in their stockings that were

hanging up to dry.

The father and his daughters jumped for joy, believing that God had finally answered their

prayers.

He was finally able to pay for the dowry, and his oldest daughter went on to get married.

Nicholas came back to do this again for the two younger daughters, which is when he was

caught in the act.

Everyone knew that this gold wasn't just appearing out of thin air, and people began

to whisper around town about young Nicholas' kind heart and generosity.

Nicholas was a very simple person who didn't need a lot to be happy, and the money didn't

mean much to him.

But he knew his donations could be life-changing for other families in Myra.

He decided to continue paying attention to who needed the most help in the city, and

he would anonymously give his inheritance away to other people.

After this story spread around town, people began to leave their stockings and shoes by

the fireplace in hopes that they would receive gold from Nicholas, as well.

Soon after this, people throughout the city of Myra were receiving anonymous presents

that would mysteriously appear in their homes.

This sparked a spirit of giving, and neighbors were now helping out one another in their

time of need without fear of hearing their pride.

Any time an anonymous gift would show up, they decided to thank Nicholas, even if he

wasn't actually the one to deliver every single present.

People in the town began a rumor that since this man seemed to be able to be in many places

at once, he was more than just a devout Christian man.

They believed that he had been blessed with magical powers.

He truly did begin to travel across Turkey, and he reached a point where he had given

away all of his earthly possessions, which was fine by him.

He devoted his life to becoming a monk.

We know with absolute certainty that Nicholas truly was a real person, because he grew up

to take over his uncle's position as the next Bishop of Myra.

There are records of his participation in the First Council of Nicea, including his

outspoken outrage over the corruption he saw in the Catholic Church.

In one story, Nicholas witnessed a horrific scene where children had been kidnapped, and

he was able to rescue them.

He was seen as such a holy man that he was later canonized as Saint Nicholas, the patron

saint of children, and...surprisingly, sailors.

That's right, St. Nick loved to travel, even back then.

He learned to sail along the coast of Asia Minor, and dreamed of seeing the entire planet

some day.

For years to come, sailors would continue to pray to Saint Nicholas for help when they

were able to go on a long voyage.

Legend has it that one day, Turkish sailors were out at sea, and the wind and waves were

so strong, the men were afraid that the boat would capsize.

They prayed to Saint Nicholas for help, and he appeared before them, with his arms outstretched.

He was able to control the weather and calm down the ocean, and the sailors made it home

safely.

This was just one of the many examples of the stories told of St. Nick's extraordinary

magical power.

And it just may be a good explanation of how Santa manages to travel in his sleigh through

all kinds of weather.

The fantastical stories of Saint Nicholas lasted far longer than just one lifetime.

His story continued to go on for another thousand years.

It would seem that the magic behind his generosity was so inspiring and powerful, it was enough

to keep him alive in the hearts of mankind for generations to come.

Santa Inspires a Nation From the 4th to 16th Centuries, Nicholas became

one of the most popular Catholic Saints.

People continued to pray to him, wishing for his help in their time of need.

As time went on, he preferred to receive letters, rather than prayers.

It's probably much easier for him to keep records this way.

Stories of St. Nick's magic and generosity began to spread throughout the rest of the

world.

In the Netherlands, Belgium, and Switzerland, children began to leave their shoes outdoors

on St. Nicholas Day so that the jolly "Sinterklaas" could leave them presents.

Sure enough, small toys and candy were left for them when they awoke in the morning.

After the Protestant reformation, Martin Luther wanted to do away with the stories of Catholic

saints, so he said that these presents were actually coming from the baby Jesus, or the

"Christkindl".

People were confused, of course, because they knew that the real gift-giver was the jolly

old Saint Nick delivering these presents to children.

So "Christkindl" was misunderstood to be "Kris Kringle," and the nickname stuck.

After the Revolutionary war, there was a movement to reject many of the English ways of life

and start new traditions that were uniquely American.

An author by the name of Washington Irving had already made a name for himself by writing

and publishing American folk tales that had been told by word-of-mouth, like Rip Van Winkle

and the spooky "Legend of Sleepy Hollow", which became a Halloween classic.

So, when he heard about the Dutch story of "Sinterklass", he decided to officially

give him the properly American-sounding name of "Santa Claus", and St. Nick officially

became apart of the American Christmas tradition.

Over the next few hundred years, the public would learn more about Santa Claus than they

ever had before.

In 1809, Washington Irving's book called Knickerbocker's History of New York, he

wrote about a surprising Santa sighting in Central Park; "The good St. Nicholas came

riding over the tops of the trees, in that self-same wagon wherein he brings his yearly

presents to children."

He went on to explain that Santa took a break to smoke his pipe of tobacco before getting

back in his wagon and flying away.

Thankfully, Santa gave up smoking, which is partly why he has extended his life expectancy.

But he replaced it with a serious cookie addiction, so that wasn't exactly kind on his ever-expanding

waistline.

As the years went on, more and more writers would elaborate with additional details about

Santa Claus.

In December of 1823, a writer named Clement Clark Moore was walking through the snow on

his way home.

Under his arm, he had a Christmas turkey for his family, and looking around at the beautiful

scene, he was suddenly inspired to write a poem titled, "A Visit from St. Nicholas"...But

you probably know it as "The Night Before Christmas."

"'Twas the night before Christmas, when all thro' the house

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse; The stockings were hung by the chimney with

care, In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there…."

This became an incredibly popular poem.

It so perfectly captured the Christmas spirit, that in just a few years, nearly every American

knew how to recite it from memory.

Instead of thinking of his time living in Turkey as a 4th Century saint, people now

imagined Santa Claus to be a chubby, jolly old man who climbed through the chimney to

place presents in stockings and leave wrapped under the Christmas tree.

St. Nick had always been a sailor and an avid traveler throughout his lifetime.

Navigating the open sea is no easy task, especially in the tears before the benefits of GPS.

But he wanted to get around on land at a faster pace.

In 1821, an anonymous author wrote and illustrated a story called "Old Santeclaus with Much

Delight".

For the first time, the public learned that Santa had upgraded his ride from a rickety

old wagon and boat to a proper sled pulled by a single reindeer.

In 1889, poet Katharine Lee Bates introduced the world to Mrs. Claus, and we got to know

a little bit more about St. Nick's personal life.

We still don't know exactly when they got married, but this couple have what is probably

the longest lasting marriage in history.

We also don't know if they ever had any children together.

As the years went on, the public learned more about Santa's progress in his mission to

bring joy to the world.

We learned that he moved to his new secret hideout in the North Pole, and he hired a

team of elves to run his workshop.

We were introduced to his extended fleet of 8 magic reindeer, and in 1939, he added the

newest member of the team- Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

In 1891, even the President of the United States was promoting Santa Claus.

Benjamin Harrison told the press, "We shall have an old-fashioned Christmas tree for the

grandchildren upstairs, and I shall be their Santa Claus myself.

Let me hope that my example will be followed by every family in the land."

The very first video footage ever captured of Santa Claus was in 1898, by a filmmaker

named G.A. Smith.

The world could see him leaving presents for sleeping children on Christmas Eve.

Of course, as time went on and modern technology improved, more and more people were capturing

footage of Santa Claus, and it was time for him to come out of hiding, and make his first

public appearances.

The Modern Santa Moving into the 20th Century, Santa Claus

was always hip to the modern times.

During the Industrial Revolution, he was able to improve his operations with his elf employees

working the assembly lines in his workshop at the North Pole.

Santa became more like the CEO of his toy empire, making sure the operation ran as smoothly

as possible.

Now that he wasn't running his workshop alone, he was finally able to make the time

to begin making public appearances.

In 1924, he decided to be a part of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.

He received such a warm welcome from his adoring fans, that has decided to reappear every single

year ever since, so long as the organizers meet the demand on his rider to provide him

a tall glass of milk and some warm chocolate chip cookies in the green room.

The 1980's brought on the boom of the shopping mall in the United States, and this began

the tradition of Santa Claus taking personal requests from girls and boys.

There is even a massive party called "Santa Con" held every year in New York City, which

isn't even a real convention...It's just an excuse to dress up like St. Nick and party

in the streets.

There is also the Liverpool Santa Dash, and so many other events around the world thrown

in his honor.

Moving into the 21st century, modern technology has helped us truly break down the science

of just how Santa manages to make his journey.

You can now track St Nick's progress on the Google Maps "Santa Tracker".

And in 2016, The Mirror did an intensive study on the statistics of Santa's magical journey

on Christmas Eve.

They discovered that in order for him to deliver presents to every single child in the world

on a single night, he needs to travel at speeds of 1,280 miles per second, which is faster

than the speed of sound...It's no wonder that we rarely ever see him in the night sky.

Even though the world loves Santa Claus, that doesn't mean his legacy has been free from

controversy.

Indeed, he is often blamed for being at the root of making the holiday season about material

things, rather than having young people remember the true meaning of Christmas.

Commercialism is a very real thing, of course, and there is no denying that Santa Claus has

helped sell billions of dollars in products every holiday season, from coca cola to Barbie

dolls.

But in a world where religion and politics divide so many people, there are very few

things that Americans can agree on quite like the tradition of Santa Claus.

Every December 24th, children go to bed early and wake up at the crack of dawn, hoping that

they will find presents underneath their Christmas tree.

For many, it's one of the very few memories we all share of having faith in something,

and the experience of childhood wonder and the belief in magic.

Sometimes, Santa Claus can't do everything by himself, and needs to recruit help in unexpected

ways.

Just one example of this was in 2011.

A young couple named Jim and Dylan moved into their new apartment on West 22nd Street in

New York City, when they started to get letters in their mailbox addressed to Santa Claus.

They thought this was a joke, of course, and they went to the post office to see if there

was a forwarding address for the previous tenant, they were told that yes, there was,

but it was simply put as; "The North Pole."

At first, they didn't know what to do with these letters, and they had no idea how these

random children got their address.

They even did a thorough search on Google.

Eventually, they decided that they could not ignore these letters.

Many of them were heartbreaking letters that came from under-privileged children.

Dylan and Jim began to pass out letters to their friends and co-workers who all shared

in the responsibility of buying presents for these kids.

Soon enough, the word spread on Facebook, and they were able to get hundreds of letters

fulfilled by kind-hearted volunteers.

They now run a charity called Miracle on 22nd Street, where anyone can volunteer to help

out with the letters to Santa.

If you still aren't convinced in the existence of Santa Claus, there are few words that can

better express the truth than that of Francis Pharcellus Church.

In 1897, an 8-year old girl named Virginia O'Hanlon wrote to the New York Sun, saying

that her friends in school told her that Santa Claus was not real.

She asked them to tell her the truth, and Church published his reply.

"Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.

He exists as sure as generosity and devotion exists, and you know they abound and give

to your life its highest beauty and joy.

Alas!

How dreary the world would be without a Santa Claus."

Here at Biographics, we want to say that Santa Claus truly does exist, so long as he remains

in our hearts.

We wish you a Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays.

Modern people today demand not only instant communication with the Internet, but also access to it with maximum convenience. It should be not just a stand for a laptop, but a stand with a pad so that the legs are as soft as possible. And behind such a stand you can comfortably not only work, but also drink tea, and read books (you can even draw and write an essay!). And even play chess. It seems like a simple thing (pillows with a board), but very comfortable. Soft on the one hand, hard - on the other. Just for legs (on the one hand) and for work (on the other). To sew a pillow is easy. Attaching a smooth board to it is also not a problem. For example, nailing with buttons or simply sticking. And if you also attach comfortable handles or eyelets to it to make it easier to take and wear, then the value of such a pillow in the eyes of the buyer increases by a few more dollars. Only a few handicraftsmen from Latvia and Israel make and sell such comfortable pillows for Etsy. Two Latvians have sold for a thousand of these pillows (and one of them sells them not only on Etsy, but also in ordinary Latvian stores). Prices range from $ 27 to $ 70 per piece (depending on the size and built-in gadgets). Good for everyone - both buyers and handicraftsmen.

GO AFTER DARK ep 6: Let it Snow! (Scaled 2D sprites) - Duration: 15:17.

Welcome to Go After Dark.

In Go After Dark

we code real-time graphical effects and

only use the race detector to check if our

code is fast enough.

Today we'll be drawing 2d sprites. We'll

be checking different methods of drawing

and comparing them in terms of speed and

quality. In the end we should end up with

the nice seasonal effects you see behind

me. A good versatile sprite drawer can be really

useful. For example it's used in one of

my all-time favorite intros Björ that

almost entirely is made with sprites. the

code you will see is done in grayscale, but what

we're doing can actually be done just as

easily in full color. With all that said

let's get into the code.

[Music]

Surprisingly maybe the hardest part of

this is the actual preparation of

drawing stuff. That means the actual

mapping of which pixels should go where. To

define that we have a structure that

contains several fields

it contains the start X and Y

coordinates the end X and and Y

coordinates.

That's the coordinate on the screen

where we'd like our output to be drawn.

The next part is the texture coordinates

where we want to read our source data

from. Here we store it as fixed point

coordinates we have u0 which is the

left X we have v0 which is left Y we

have u1 that is right X and we have v1

which is the bottom of our texture.

Furthermore we have a V step and a u

step which is the number of texture

coordinates to increment at every pixel

we draw. Finally we store the size of

our texture that we want to draw, so we

can check against that. And we store the

actual texture that we will be drawing from.

Before we move on however think we

should take a look at this in a more

visual way.

[Music]

So here we have a gopher that we want to

draw. The Gopher is the sprite and the canvas is

the screen we want to draw to. So the top

left corner are the UV texture

coordinates we want to start reading

from, and the bottom right this is where

we want to end. We can scale the Gopher

up and down in size so that means we can

have it offset and you can see it's

snapping to whole pixels right now but

we want to also be able to place it

between individual output pixels. So in

this case we want to send the center

coordinate and we want to send the size

of the Gopher we we want to draw. The

interesting part comes in when we look

at cropping. So if we move out here we

can see this part of the overlap that

shouldn't be drawn so that means we have

to move our texture coordinate in

regards to which part of the image is

being cropped, so that is for the top and

the left side. On the on the other hand

we want to stop early if we move the

Gopher outside the image, so we need to

compensate the sizes for for these cases.

So let's take a look at how that would

look in the code

[Music]

So this function calculates the mapping

we give it the center X&Y coordinate we

give it an R. Technically it's not a

radius so it's the width and height of

the image. We assume square images so

that means R is the axis aligned

distance from the center to the edge of

the sprite. Furthermore we have a

parameter called mip. We will not care about

that right now.

So the first thing we do is to

see if we are completely outside the

screen in that case we can just return

immediately because we don't have to do

anything and it shouldn't end up being

drawn. Then we have another special case

for very very small sprites meaning it's

a two by two square or less. This means

we can simply calculate what should be

drawn and have a specialized routine do

that for us. Next we skip a little bit so

we get down to the path where we

calculate the ratio between the output

pixels and the texture pixels we then

determine where we should start drawing

the image and also where we should end

drawing the image. Then we get to a fairly

tricky part where we determine the

initial U and V coordinates. The reason

we need all these calculations is that

we are starting to the left of where we

actually might want the sprite to be

drawn at this also means that we have to

compensate in the textures so we are

starting slightly inside the texture. The

reason we do this is because we want the

radius to be more than a fixed integer

so we can scale it more smoothly up and

down, and also that we can put the sprite

anywhere we want, and the motion will be

smooth as well. So we have these two big

blobs of calculations where we calculate

the left top side and the bottom right

side then we calculate the step size for

each output pixel in each direction we

have some sanity checks in here that

we can enable when we're tweaking it

that prints out debug statements if

there should be anything that's weird.

Then we start the clipping process

meaning we check if we are starting to

the left of the image we're starting

above the image if we're ending outside

the right side of the image and finally

if we are ending below the image. So what

we do is we then adjust the coordinates

and the start and end positions so we

know we won't draw outside our image.

Finally there's some extra sanity checks

that can be enabled if you are experiencing

weird stuff. I left it in here just for

convenience. But now we're done so we can

start drawing our sprites

[Music]

So the first method of drawing is what's

called a nearest neighbor. It's very fast

so the first thing we do is we calculate

mapping, we set V to the left side of the

texture. We figure out where we want to

start drawing. We fetch the line from the

texture we will be reading from, we set the

u coordinate to the left side of the

texture and we go from start X to end X.

We simply discard the (low) part of the

texture coordinates. We look it up and we

add it to the existing pixel value. That

means it's drawn additive to the to the

current image. Then we increment U and we

increment V for every line. So that is

actually enough to draw our pixel. Let's

take a look at how it looks.

I made this small test setup so it's

easy to evaluate movement and scaling as

we can see the effect is really fast and

looks fairly okay there's some

shimmering when movement is going on but

it's very very fast and looks decent and

will work in some cases. However if we

try to switch it over to the scene we'll

be drawing here we can see that it's

very very shimmery and very unclear

what's going on. It's just flickering a

lot. So let me introduce you to another

concept called mipmaps. So the thing you

can do to avoid having very shimmering

down scaled versions of your image is to

use mipmaps. Basically it can choose

down scaled versions of your image, so

here we have the full image then we

scale it down by 50%, 50% again, 50% again

and based on the size we choose which of

these images to use as a source texture.

So that is

the part that's going on. Here we check

the size of the image we want to draw

and we choose the appropriate mipmap. If

we go up to the top there's a piece of

code that actually creates the mipmaps

after the source texture has been loaded,

so what this does is simply to scale

down until we have a 1x1 pixel which is

a lowest mipmap level. So the only thing

that has actually changed in this piece

of code is that we are now allowing it

to choose any mip level where up here in

the other one we always choose the

best quality texture as input, and the

actual drawing code is exactly the same

as before, meaning it should perform at

exactly the same speed as the other code.

So let's enable it and take a look.

There we go,

it's now shimmering way way less than it

did before

it's not super perfect but considering

that it's drawing at exactly the same

speed as before it's a very very cheap

way of getting some decent scaling

images. One thing to note is that it

doesn't handle upscaling,

meaning if you are going to draw

sprites that are bigger than the input,

it will still be the same quality as

before; but overall very very cheap and

very effective way of drawing pixels,

that sort of look okay when scaled up

and down. But finally let's look at how

we can make it even better with some

filtering.

[Music]

So let's go through how we draw nice or

let's call them bilinear interpolated

sprites. First part is the same as always,

we calculate the mapping we go from start Y

to end Y. We find where we'll be drawing,

then we find two lines instead of one, so

we find two adjacent lines in the input

texture that we want to interpolate

between. Then we calculate the weight of

these two lines, since we are drawing an

entire line the weight between these two

inputs will be the same for the entire

line. We have to handle the case where we

are at the edge of this sprite so we

don't read outside the sprite. Finally we

reset U as we usually do. Then we range

over the width we want to draw, again we

find two coordinates we find the pixel

to the left, we find the pixel to the

right and we calculate the weight

between them. So if we are all on the

left pixel we take everything from that.

If we are all on the right pixel we take

everything from that, and in between is,

well, in between. So we calculate these

weights. We look up the four pixels we're

interested in and we apply the weights

to each of them. We add them together the

weights in fixed point with with eight

bits of fraction, so that means when we

multiply them we are actually scaled up

by 16 bits, so we compensate for that and

we add it to the existing screen value.

So let's take a look at how that will

end up looking. So now we can see we have

nice and smooth motion we have nice

smooth scaling with no weird artifacts.

We use the mipmaps so we don't have to

care about more than two pixels and we

can see that everything is handled

fairly decently. Let's take a look at how

the

final scene looks with this. so yeah now

we have nice smooth motion and things

are falling nice and calmly from the sky.

We still have a frame rate around 1100

so performance seems to be okay, though

it's not as fast as the pure mipmap

solution. But just for fun let's try to

use the the go scalers for this, and with

the go scalars it's problematic

we we often can't hit 60 frames per

second so things are getting very choppy.

Slso it doesn't have sub pixel precision

so the output images are moving single

pixels at the time which doesn't look

very smooth. So, yeah, doing some of our

own stuff can definitely help sometimes.

Vladimir Putin's Address to Defense Ministry Board - Duration: 23:47.

Comrades,

Strengthening the defence capability, Russia's security and strong protection against external forces have been and remain our priorities.

I want to stress that their exceptional importance is well understood by both political and government leaders, society and all the citizens of our country.

Today, during the traditional expanded meeting of the board we will discuss how the force development progressed in 2018 and will outline our further priorities.

I would like to thank everybody who participated in the system-wide and consistent work to modernise the army and the navy.

I want to note that all the services and branches of the armed forces developed gradually and according to approved plans and the new State Armament Programme, and were equipped with modern weapons and equipment.

The nuclear triad significantly improved as it plays a key role in maintaining global parity. The share of modern arms in the triad is already 82 percent.

Serious, breakthrough steps have been made in the development of the unique state-of-the-art weapons that I mentioned in my Address to the Federal Assembly on March 1.

I am referring to the launch of serial production of the Avangard missile system, the successful test of the Sarmat missile, combat patrol involving the Kinzhal hypersonic air-launched ballistic missile, and exercises involving the Peresvet combat laser weapon.

These weapons will multiply the potential of our army and navy, thus reliably and absolutely ensuring Russia's security for decades ahead.

These weapons are consolidating the balance of forces and, thus, international stability. I hope our new systems will provide food for thought to those who are used to militaristic and aggressive rhetoric.

Furthermore, the substantial upgrades in the level of operational and combat training of our troops is important. This potential is undergoing a qualitative change. Six independent inspections this year confirmed this, particularly, the ability to promptly move forces

and equipment over large distances of up to 7,000 kilometres, and to quickly reinforce units in major strategic areas wherever necessary.

A positive outcome was demonstrated during the Vostok-2018 large-scale exercises. Importantly, units from China and Mongolia also acted under the general plan, in single formation with our troops.

The Ocean Shield exercises were held in the Mediterranean for the first time in the modern history of Russia. In cooperation with long-range aviation, a large inter-fleet group confidently performed a broad range of tasks and tested the latest tactical methods for ships and aviation.

I would like to make special mention of the fact that the weapons tested in Syria and the experience of the Army service personnel in the struggle against the terrorists were used in the operational and combat training drill.

The situation in Syria is gradually being stabilised after the rout of major groups of militants. However, these criminals are still trying to show their teeth. I would like to emphasise that this uncompromising struggle against the militants will continue. We will give Syrians all the support they need.

At the same time, our Army service personnel befittingly perform their peacemaking and humanitarian tasks. They are helping revive Syria as a single, peaceful and stable state.

Regarding the results of the year, I would like to mention the development of the system of military education. Over 12,000 professionally trained officers were sent to the Army and Navy. The level of screening under contract has been also raised. Of the over 60,000 people engaged for service in the outgoing year two thirds have a higher or secondary professional education.

Comrades, In the coming period, it is important to consolidate the results to date. Of course, it is necessary to analyse and take into account international military and political developments.

We see that the situation in the Middle East, Afghanistan and the Korean Peninsula remains complicated. NATO continued to build up its military infrastructure near our borders during the year. The conflict in southeastern Ukraine continues unabated.

The US leadership's statements about withdrawing from the INF Treaty are a source of major concern for us.

Such a step will have the most negative consequences and will noticeably weaken regional and global security. In fact, in the long term, it may result in the degradation and even collapse of the entire architecture of arms control and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

The United States is using the already familiar and, one might say, trivial pretext for unilaterally withdrawing from the treaty, which is unsubstantiated accusations that Russia is in violation of its obligations under the treaty, which they themselves have already violated, and did so long ago.

You and I are well aware that the deployment of Aegis sea-based systems in Romania, and, in the near future, in Poland, is a direct violation of the INF Treaty, because these units can be used and, as a matter of fact, are being used at sea to launch missiles of this type. Now, in violation of the treaty, they have appeared on land.

Yes, indeed, this treaty comes with certain complexities since other countries with medium- and short-range missiles are not part of it. But why not discuss their accession to this treaty? Or discuss the parameters of a new treaty?

I emphasise, whatever complaints one might have with regard to this treaty, it plays the role of a stabilising factor in current circumstances and helps maintain a certain level of predictability and restraint in the military sphere.

In the event the United States breaks the treaty – I have already mentioned this publicly and I believe it is important to state it once again directly for this audience – we will be forced to take additional measures to strengthen our security.

At the same time, Russia, as before, is open to all proposals and initiatives that help strengthen security for all, including preventing a new arms race. This, I am confident, is in the interests of not only Russia, but the United States and the entire world as well.

Google Ads vs. Facebook Ads: Which is Better for Ecommerce? | Shopify Dropshipping 2019 - Duration: 7:17.

Hey, what is up guys? It's Rafael here your 7 figure e-commerce coach and today we're gonna talk about

What is better and more effective for marketing your Shopify store?

Google ads or Facebook ads which one of the two reigns supreme. That's all we're gonna discuss today

Let's go to my computer and find out but before I do want to let you know that there's a free training the first thing

in the description

there's a free training how to combine free sagat's Google Ads and Instagram to make

$10 for every dollar that you spend check that out can't believe for free subscribe to this channel for more videos now

Let's get in my computer. Alright, so Google versus Facebook ads, which one is better

There are pros and cons to both

right

Google ads is more lower cost per sale higher conversion rate and higher active buyer intent what I mean by active buyer intent is

someone that searches something on Google is

Clearly wanting to buy this in the near future right if I search for

Winter coats for men it's because I want to buy a winter coat for men. So you're targeting

Active buyer intent lower cost per sale as you can see here

There's a little sneak beat to the presentation to the training down below one of my students. He spent four

$38 on Google advertising and made three hundred and forty five giving him a very very high conversion rate

His conversion rate is like eight to ten percent

From Google and then a lower cost per sale rather costs him it to make eight orders

it costs him forty dollars of five dollars per order and then he basically

Ten next his money because this traffic is all I think he had around

Not really sure how many people he had on a store, but it's all very very active buyer intent, right?

That's why I mention it here people go to Google

To find products so that they can buy them ASAP and then higher conversion rate lower cost per sale face book outs has this higher?

Scalability though, right Google that's a little bit hard to scale Facebook

You can scale from a hundred dollars a day to five thousand dollars a day in the span of a week

Google is gonna take a long much longer time, right?

Tomorrow's video is gonna be all about Google Apps and Google has secrets. You'll be able to learn from that

But Google Ads is it's harder to scale

it's harder to go from like a $50 a day budget to a

$500 day budget because you depending on the traffic for your keywords you depending on the traffic for your Google Shopping campaign?

Which I talked in that video. So these are got higher scalability. It's riskier than Google

sometimes the margin isn't as good and if you do something like a manual bid really really high it can spend you know 200 to

500 dollars and you get no purchases

So essentially you're getting like really really bad results sometimes or if you don't do it

Right, if you take risk, you can really get burned on Google. It really doesn't happen like that

Google doesn't have that many risk and those big risk like Facebook. It's cheaper to buy traffic

So Google will typically be so let me add that here. Typically be CPC of around $1

To $2 on Facebook. You can get a CPC

Much cheaper CPC of let's say 10 cents all the way to like 30 cents

So for a really good post it can be like five cents three cents. So the traffic is more expensive to buy on Google

I have experience in this because I've tested it for myself in my clients and my students and

Essentially, you know it's cheaper to buy traffic but it's an inactive. It's a latent buyer intent

It's not active buyer intent, for example

If you love to travel and then you see travel gear or a travel back pair of a travel jacket

Whatever it is on your Facebook feed. It might be also you might love it, but you're not actively looking for that

So the probability of you buying isn't as high right? That's why the conversion rate is higher that explains a higher conversion rate, right?

It's it's active and on a Google when they're searching for travel backpack

It's because they want to buy a travel backpack on a Facebook, you know, if they see a child backpack

They might think it's cool, but they're not gonna buy it right away. So that's why the conversion rate is higher on Google

It's more it's warmer warmer traffic not as cold

but the better strategy to follow which I'm going to talk about now is

Combine them both and I talked about that a lot in my free training below. It's believed for free

I combined them both to basically make it the perfect cocktail of

results and as you can see here in the free training you can get an insane return on your facebook advertising Spanish because here

87 cents per purchase and it has a 51 return ad spend

That means that for every dollar that we spend we made 51, right?

So that's that's how you get that insane return on adspend is by combining them both. I

Show you how to combine them both in the training

But you're essentially

Retargeting that active buyer intent from google that warm traffic that people that actually want to buy that winter coat

for example

I really really want to buy that winter coat search it on google winter coats for men and then on

Facebook. I get a retargeting product ad

For that winter coat. I'm like, oh, right

I had to buy it and then you have those abandoned cart

Sequences on the back end that SMS bump that record with the video that I made on apps, right?

So essentially this is the best strategy to follow and how you get that insane return on adspend. It's by combining them both

So you make you make sure okay. You're taking warm traffic

From Google then you're retargeting it

on

Facebook and then you have abandoned cart sequences abandoned whoop bandit court apps and

Sequences on top of that. So essentially you're getting warp traffic from google

Retargeting it on Facebook and then making sure that they buy from your site by actually having these

Remarketing and abandoned cart marketing absence sequences. So that's essentially these strategy that I recommend you

It's not like one is better than the other, you know

Depending on this if you just want to make as much profit as possible

And you don't want to make huge numbers and you want to scale fast

Google is the best way to do it if you want to scale fast and get results really really fast and test products very fast

Facebook Ads, right. It's testing products

testing products takes longer on Google

Testing products on Facebook is really really really quick. So quick product testing

So it depends what you want to do, you know, it's not that a platform is better than the other one, right?

I recommend both I recommending I recommend using them in unison

but these are the pros and cons to each and if you want to

Scale fast facebook is better if you just want to keep a lot of profit

Google is better testing products. If you want to test a lot of products really fast Facebook is good

So depending on what you want to do

the best thing to be is to

Combine them if you want to learn exactly how to combine them how to make $10 for every dollar that you sell

That you spent or $50 vary they spent checkout that training in the link below. Thank you so much for watching this video

I'm Rocco Cintron sunfury comics coach don't forget to subscribe and like this video if you enjoyed it share with a friends

So they know that you know

Which one of the two is better Facebook or Google check out the training the first thing in the description

Thank you for watching and check out the other videos tomorrow's video

If you're watching this later on it's gonna be uploaded already, but it's gonna be a Google ad sequence. Google ads a master class

Basically, thanks for watching. I will see you in the night
