11 signs you might have heart disease.

Around 11 per cent of men and nine per cent of women in the UK have been diagnosed with

some form of heart or circulatory disease.

But what symptoms can we look out for that might indicate a potential heart problem?

David Newby, BHF John Wheatley Professor of Cardiology at the BHF Centre of Research Excellence

at the University of Edinburgh, tells us more about 11 signs that could mean it's time

to see a doctor.

1.

Chest pain.

It's the classic sign of a heart attack, yet many people don't realise this could

be a medical emergency.

Professor Newby says: "If you have chest pain and you feel extremely unwell, you should

dial 999 and get an ambulance as soon as possible.

If it's a heart attack, it's usually described as a heaviness, tightness or pressure in the

chest; people will often describe it as 'an elephant sat on my chest' or 'it felt

like a tight band around my chest,' that sort of constricting feeling.

"If chest pains occur when you are exerting yourself, but go away when you stop, that

would suggest it's more likely to be angina.

That would still mean you should go and see a doctor, but you don't have to call 999."

Professor Newby advises that chest pains accompanied by feeling extremely unwell, mean it is probably

the right time to call 999 and request an ambulance.

2.

Feeling sick.

Obviously not every bout of nausea equals a heart attack – but if you're getting

pain as well, alarm bells should ring.

Professor Newby says: "If you experience intense chest pain even when you are just

sitting around doing nothing and you are also feeling sick, that is the time to call for

an ambulance."

If you're getting some discomfort, but not intense pain, as well as feeling sick, call

NHS 111 for advice.

3.

Stomach pain.

Professor Newby says: "Because the heart, the gullet [the passage between your mouth

and stomach] and the stomach are all lying right next to each other, the challenge, for

both members of the public and doctors, is that a burning or indigestion-type pain and

heart pain can be difficult to disentangle.

You could call NHS 111 for advice – they have certain algorithms they apply, but they

aren't perfect as there are no hard and fast rules that apply to everyone."

4.

Feeling sweaty.

Working up a sweat when you've been to the gym or because it's a really hot day, is

nothing to worry about.

But feeling hot and clammy along with chest pains is a sign that you should call an ambulance.

5.

Leg pain.

Professor Newby says: "If you get a gripping, cramping sensation in your calves when you

are walking, it might be worth seeing your doctor, as that can be a marker of PAD (peripheral

arterial disease).

It's most common in smokers and people who have diabetes."

Make an appointment with your GP.

6.

Arm pain.

You might not associate arm pain with your heart, but it can be a sign of a heart attack.

Professor Newby says: "If your pain is going down the arm, especially the left arm, or

into the neck that makes it more likely to be heart-related than indigestion.

If it doesn't go away, or if you know you have heart disease and have used your GTN

(glyceryl trinitrate) spray two or three times to no discernible effect, you should be seeking

emergency medical advice."

Call 999 for an ambulance.

7.

Jaw or back pain.

Professor Newby says: "With heart attacks, it can even happen that the pain is felt in

the jaw, or the back.

Again, if it doesn't go away, call 999 and ask for an ambulance."

There is some evidence that women's symptoms are more likely to vary from 'classic'

chest pain, and we know that women are less likely to seek medical attention and treatment.

8.

Choking sensation.

Professor Newby says: "The word 'angina' actually means 'choking', and sometimes

the tightness or pain can be up in the throat.

People tend to describe a 'restricting' or 'choking' sensation."

If the feeling continues, and you haven't previously been diagnosed with heart problem,

you should call NHS 111 – but if you have some of the other signs listed here as well,

it might be safer to call an ambulance.

9.

Swollen ankles.

Professor Newby says: "This shouldn't be ignored, especially if the ankles get really

big, as it can be a marker of heart failure, but it is also very common and has lots of

other causes.

It could just as easily be from tablets you are taking – for example, blood pressure

medication can lead to swollen ankles."

If you're getting swollen ankles, it's worth making an appointment with your GP.

10.

Extreme fatigue.

Feeling tired all the time can be a symptom of heart failure, as well as of other conditions.

Professor Newby says: "Many of my patients tell me they're tired, whether they've

got heart failure or not, whether they've got angina or not!

It's a difficult one, because it's so non-specific."

If you're tired and you've been working long hours or staying up late, it's probably

not your heart – but if you start experiencing extreme tiredness and your lifestyle hasn't

changed, it's a good idea to chat to your GP.

11.

Irregular heartbeat . Professor Newby says: "This is a hot topic

at the moment, there's a lot of focus on diagnosing irregular heartbeats.

I did an audit of the heart monitors we give out to people for investigation and from about

700 people, we found only about 20 that had atrial fibrillation [which can increase your

risk of stroke].

The vast majority of people just had extra ectopic beats, which are usually harmless.

"I would suggest that a jumped heartbeat is usually benign and nothing to get too concerned

by.

Being aware of your own heartbeat is really quite common and in itself nothing to get

anxious about.

18xx with Ambie: Playing Online - Duration: 4:50.

Hi! I'm Ambie, and this is my video series about 18xx games.

If you're not sure what 18xx games are, check out my 18xx intro video.

In this video, I'll go over some ways to find a group to play 18xx games with and how

to play 18xx games online.

One of the difficult parts of playing 18xx games is finding other people that have the

time to play with you.

I'm actually very lucky because my friends and I got into 18xx games together, so I have

a group of people I can play with in-person, but if you don't currently know anyone who

wants to play 18xx games, you might be able to find new people in your area.

We've had good luck meeting people through game meetups or local conventions.

We live in an area that has a lot of game meetups, and there are a couple 18xx specific

meetups that we found.

We've also found people through Board Game Geek, which has a useful feature where you

can search for people who live near you.

If you can't find people to play in person, then playing online can be great!

I've actually never played an 18xx game online, but I've heard about many different

ways that people like to play online, so I'll go over a couple here.

I won't go into all the different sites you can use to play 18xx games online, but

three of the main ways I've heard of people playing online are Board18, Rails, and rr18xx.

Board18 is a tool that you can use to play games over email or chat.

The web interface displays the game board and stock market, and you can lay track and

place tokens on the game board.

There's no rule enforcement, so you'll have to know the rules when you play.

Also, you'll need an external spreadsheet to keep track of the money, shares, and trains

that everyone has, but there are plenty available and linked from the website.

Since it's entirely manual, there may be a high learning curve to get to use Board18

and the spreadsheets, but it has over 40 different games available to play, so it's a great

choice if you want a variety of titles.

Rails is a Java program that you download to your computer.

You can use it to play in a live game with players all around the same screen, but it

also works to play online through email.

Once you make a move, you can save the log file and pass it back and forth through email

or some other file sharing method.

Rails enforces the rules and is automated, but only supports a little over 10 games.

Rr18xx is another fully automated site with a little under 10 games available.

Unlike Rails, rr18xx is entirely web-based.

In order to play on rr18xx, you need to log in using a promo code that you can find from

someone who's already registered - you should be able to find it from asking around in any

online 18xx group or forum.

Although the site says it's under construction, it works fine and many people play games through

it.

Whichever way you choose to play, one thing to keep in mind when you start an 18xx game

online is that since you're playing asynchronously, games can take months to play.

Before you begin a game, you'll want to check with the people you're playing with

to make sure you're all on the same page with how often you'll be checking in and

making moves.

Also, it's usually good to have a dedicated place to chat about the game, since things

like auctions go a lot smoother in real time.

There are a few slack groups that have a lot of 18xx players in them, and there are channels

or entire groups dedicated to online play.

I've also seen people set up games through Board Game Geek or the #boardgame IRC channel.

I'll link these in the description.

Hopefully this can get you started with getting a group together to play a game!

If you want more information, follow the links in the description.

People in the forums and chat groups are usually very helpful with answering questions you

may have.

As always, thanks for watching 18xx With Ambie!

What, Why, How on Unschooling - Duration: 6:17.

Hello! Yeah, so now it's late in the evening, we just put the kids to sleep

and I just noticed I have food all over my shirt. But if we're doing

YouTube videos while the kids are at this age, this is how we do it.

Today I'm gonna talk to you about unschooling, because we have chosen not

to put the children in school. I'm gonna do a lot of videos on that, but we're gonna

start with a little: What, Why, How.

So unschooling is technically a sort of

homeschooling, but it is also a philosophy of life, of childhood and

basically it means that the children are not going to school and we also don't do

curriculum, schedules, grades and tests. It's natural learning, it's learning

based on the child's interests, their passions.

So you could also call it child-led learning, natural learning, free learning.

We have chosen this way of life

because we believe, that we have a responsibility for the children's

learning. We believe it's the best way of learning. It's the way with the most

freedom, that gives them the best childhood. It creates so many

possibilities for us. This way we have the time and the presence. We can travel

the world with the children, we can dive into their passions, so we can explore

whatever they think is interesting.

We believe it makes sense and it gives us

as a family the best childhood and the best life. And also we believe it's the

best way to prepare them for real life. It's the best way to prepare them

academically and socially.

It's gonna make them really independent people.

So some people believe, that unschooling starts at age 5 or 6. That's perhaps

homeschooling, that's schooling in general. But unschooling has no age.

Unschooling is natural learnin. It's just living and that's starts from the moment

you are born.

So basically, an unschooling life - it doesn't change from

when the child is 1 till when it's 15. It does, it changes naturally. But we don't

do anything different, we follow our children's interests and we just go with

the flow and we go with their passions and they can learn from life.

Just as they learn how to speak and how to walk. This is how they learn and they're

gonna learn everything they need to know.

So a lot of people ask us, specifically what are you gonna do about math, if you don't have math books.

What I'm always saying is, that we don't know that yet. That depends on e.g. Aston's interests.

For example she could learn math by grocery shopping, by helping us.

She can learn math by playing games like the Backgammon. And because they still have

this desire to learn, because they're free to learn as they wish

and when they wish, then this kind of learning develops naturally.

So we moved to this tribe house: We have three families in the house.

We are all unschoolers.

And a lot of our friends are coming to the same town as well, and they are also

unschoolers. So we had

this great network and as luck will have it, there is actually a big unschooling

group in the area already.

I bet you have a thousand questions about this, but

we're going to do a lot more videos on this. So if you have any questions, you

can post them below.

And for now we're just gonna say Happy Christmas! We are actually

going on a break for the next couple of months. We have a lot of plans for this

channel and for our new videos. So we're gonna be back in the spring. And in the

meantime, remember you can still follow me on Instagram on NeoHippie.dk.

I will keep on posting stories and posts from our life. So Merry Christmas

Lavare e asciugare i capelli senza rovinarli ❤ Rito dello shampoo e asciugatura aggiornati 2018 - Duration: 10:35.

Hi everyone and welcome to Angela BioBeauty & Relax ASMR

I decided to update the rite of shampoo and drying

incuding them in a single video

Becouse I modified them

since I decided to grow my hair even more than the standard length up the bottom

I noticed that, according to the methods that they used before, the hair tended to wear out on the tips

when I washed my hair

so I had to analyze the mistakes I made and avoid them

Before wash hair,

I take ten drops of amla oil

this is by Khadì

I rub it in my hands and apply it to my scalp

I do not wet my hair because I'm interested in concentrating on the scalp

I need oil for a stimulating massage of hair growth and nourishment

in fact it receives nourishment and substances from the scalp

with my fingertips energetically massage my skin

This is the Indian massage

that I do often

during evening before going to bed

at least two or three times a week

the oil of amla is known for its anti-aging properties

avoids premature hair graying

and an excessive fall

This oil by Khadì has other herbs extracts

besides that of the amla

I find it really very valid

I made a review on my channel

of all the products of which I speak in the video you find the link in the info box

During massage do not use nails, but only fingertips

becouse nails scratch the scalp

After massage I attend 10 minutes.

Now with Tangle Teezer

I brush my hair

to distribute the oil even on the lengths

and to completely remove the knots

I recommend brushing your hair before washing it

or after drying

never when it is wet

except you do not have curly hair

in this case I recommend brushing them with a lot of conditioning product

to prevent the hair from getting torn during brushing

in fact wet hair is particularly delicate

brush them upside down to completely eliminate the knots

here I start to wash my hair

regolo the water temperature inside the sink

that it is neither too hot nor cold. it is advisable to use lukewarm water

because both hot and cold water damage the hair

completely clean the skin and hair

that I have immersed inside the pool of the closed sink

I dilute the shampoo in an empty bottle

ne towards a small quantity

I use the shampoo "girasole e arancio dolce" by La Saponaria

and add lukewarm water

until the container is completely filled

act energetically and apply it on the scalp

doing a light massage with my fingertips

the shampoo should never be applied to lengths

in fact it will slip away from the scalp towards the lengths

reaching the pool full of water

and it is not necessary to put the shampoo on them

which could be damaged due to the high concentration of surfactants

it will be like washing a delicate fabric in a pool of water

I continue to massage my skin very gently

after which I take a little water from the pool and transfer it to my head

to further dilute the shampoo

in this way it will descend towards the lengths

in the pool

I still apply shampoo until you have completely finished the bottle

Rinse my hair

the water temperature must always be lukewarm

and I apply a nourishing and conditioning mask on the lengths and ends

use "cream and strawberry" by Alkemilla

It is a very nourishing mask

in winter my hair needs a lot of nourishment

I apply it only on lengths and ends

I wait a few minutes until the mask acts

rinse with plenty of water

finally I make the last acid rinse

I previously prepared a liter of water from the tap

lukewarm with the addition of a tablespoon of vinegar

of wine or apples

that of apple stinks less than that of wine

however, the effect is the same

immerse the lengths and the tips in the becker

where there is acid water

I keep them immersed for a few minutes

then towards the contents of the becker on my head

the acid rinse is used to close the scales of the hair, avoid the formation of split ends,

adjust the hair's pH

and make the hair very shiny and strong

do not wring your hair

I gently slide my hands on the lengths

downward

then with a large microfibre cloth I wrap my head and lengths

in such a way that excess water is buffered by the cloth

it is advisable to use the microfiber instead of the sponge, because the sponge tends to subtract hydration

to dry the hair, I use two microfiber towels

the first serves to eliminate most of the water

after a minute, when it will be well drenched,

I'll take the other cloth and wrap my head in it

I'll keep this towel on my head for ten minutes

the hair does not go frizzed, neither wrung out, nor rolled up in chignon

this is the exact procedure to avoid stressing them physically

after ten minutes the hair will not drip anymore and it's time to dry them

set the hairdryer at medium temperature and medium speed

I keep it as far as possible

about 20-30 cm from the head

because the air does not get too hot and too concentrated on the scalp and lengths

when I have dried the upper part, I sit upside down and wipe the back of my head and the bottom of my head

I never direct the hair dryer towards the lengths and ends

that I will let it dry in the air

in fact, lengths and tips will dry very quickly

and it is not necessary to use the hairdryer

tralaltro other are the oldest hair and the one that tends to weaken more easily

I use an ion hairdryer

that does not dry your hair

I find it excellent against frizz

It is at this point that I finish my drying

as you can see, the lengths are slightly damp

here it is! soft, perfectly defined hair, without having applied any product after washing

if you have any questions, ask them in the comments below

see you next time on my channel

if you are not yet registered, do it immediately and activate the bell to receive notifications of the next video

Hi everyone

How effective was the Tiger really? - Duration: 12:55.

So lately my content was a bit tank heavy,

so I fought the enter year with some heavy tanks, namely the Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausfuhrung E and B,

better known as the Tiger and Konigstiger.

(There are) quite many debates about these tanks, thus today we are gonna look if these tanks were actually combat effective beasts or just mere kittens.

So how do you find effectiveness in this case?

Well, Christopher Wilbeck proved the faeces on the effectiveness of tiger notes the following.

Additionally, he also adds that a simple killed-death ratio might not be enough and notes that,

Of course as many of you know, kill-to-loss ratio outside of computer games are very complicated issues.

Not only to the problem of the definition what actually constitutes a loss,

it also due to the issue that a lot of over-reporting were happening in terms of kill claims.

Now for losses, we go with a total loss of Tiger, which means it could not be put in service again due to the excessive damage or loss to the enemy.

This also means we have two lost numbers: the Combat losses and the Overall losses

For instance, tanks that had to be abandoned were blown up by the crews yet were not destroyed in combat.

In terms of kill claims, Wilbech looked at the data provided by the Germans on the Western Front and confirmed most data with detailed unit histories of the Western Allies.

As such is the problem is that for the Eastern Front the source situations were rather bad.

Sadly, Wilbeck does not mention how accurate the kill claims were on the Western Front, and he notes about the correctness of the Western Front loss data.

Now, why the caution about the number of operational tanks?

Well, this number might be wrong since it was the practice among German panzer divisions to under-report the operational strength by around 15 to 20 percent

to rent high command to pull away panzer who use elsewhere.

And for the extra losses of the tigers likely had little effect since the accounting for tigers was thorough.

Sadly, for some King Tiger units, the unit war diaries were lost and/or captured

Since always take everything with a grain of salt if the source situation is way better than many other situations.

For instance, tank production costs, something I discussed on my second channel with more thoroughly.

Of course, the kill-to-loss ratio are not for individual Tiger tanks since war is a team effort.

In case of the Tigers and King Tigers, the primary form of organization was the heavy tank battalion: Schwere Panzerabteilung,

each of which had an authorized strength of 45 Tigers or King Tigers.

Although rarely all 45 were operational at the same time, and in one case a battalion never received the full complement of 45 Tigers.

In total, there were 40 heavy tank battalions of which 10 were independent.

Three were attached permanently to one panzerkorps each, and one was permanently attached to an elite army division.

Since we got this flank covered, let's now look at the kill-to-loss ratio for each heavy tank battalion.

But if we look at the combat losses first and then the kill numbers, additionally to get the bigger picture, we also look at the total losses.

As such we can derive the kill-to-loss ratio in combat and in overall.

First of here the combat losses for each battalion.

Note that in some cases the cause of loss is unknown.

Anyway, the highest amount of combat losses were for 503rd.

And over the average combat loss ratio was around 45%, as such less than half of all tigers were lost in combat,

assuming that the unknown losses were not combat losses.

Second, here the total losses of each battalion.

First note that the lowest number was for the 103rd.

Yet this unit never received the full complement of the authorized 45 King Tigers.

Then again, the 503rd had the most amount of losses, and lost more than five times the authorized strength of 45 Tigers per battalion.

This, of course, is due to the fact that it was one of the first three heavy tank battalions,

so extensive action over the course of the war.

This is backed up when we look at the kill numbers.

Here again, the 503rd has the highest number, followed by the 502nd, which both scored more than 1,000 kills.

The worst number of kills are for the 508th battalion.

So let's look now at the combat-(kill)-to-loss ratio.

As you can see the 101st stands out clearly. Considering the circumstance in the high discrepancy of to the order units, this number is very likely wrong.

We'll have big notes the following.

Now, Wilbeck did not remove the 103rd from the list, whereas I added an additional line of data without considering the 103rd.

Such the highest kill-to-loss ratio were around 19 tanks for each Tiger loss.

Now, if you look at the 13 battalions that have regular number, six of them managed to score a kill-to-loss ratio higher than 10 tanks per Tiger.

On average, including the 103rd, Wilbeck notes for each Tiger, 12.06 enemy tanks were destroyed, whereas without the 103rd, it's 11.52.

Of course, if we take into account the non-combat losses the situation changes quite dramatically.

And in this case, the 502nd seems to be the overall winner by a wide margin.

As every other unit had lessened 10 kills per Tiger loss,

the 502nd managed 13.08 against the average of around 5.25 enemy tanks per Tiger loss.

As such the 502nd is a higher overall-kill-to-loss ratio and the average-combat-kill-to-death ratio

But let's look at the oval picture again.

Wilbeck concludes the following:

As mentioned before, Wilbeck also outlined a second criterion, namely mission accomplishment.

This is rather hard to measure for several reasons: First, originally Tiger was intended as a breakthrough tank, (but) it rarely saw offensive missions.

Second, the Tiger units were often sent very hard to impossible missions over the course of the war.

Also, there is no statistical data on mission evaluations. As such the answer was addressed indirectly by Wilbeck.

He notes that the emphasis given by the Allies in various ways towards the Tiger and the heavy tank battalions shows that it was an effective weapon.

For instance:

Now, for those who don't know, after battalion comes the regiment and then comes the brigade and only then comes to division.

So to put this a bit in perspective.

Similarly, Allied forces usually tried to bypass Tiger units.

As such he concludes, the Tiger units were effective, else the Allies would not have allocated so many resources against them.

It should be noted that Wilbeck looked mainly at the tactical effectiveness, which is stated in his book.

If one goes to the operational and especially strategic level the situation is quite different.

If we look beyond the tactical aspect, the Tiger was a very expensive piece of equipment.

Not just in production time and resources, but also logistical.

The amount of fuel necessary to additional work from making it suitable for railway transport

including special carriages that could move the tank and many other aspects.

As such some authors argue that it might have been useful to build more Panzer IVs, Stugs or even Panthers instead of the Tiger.

If one could argue why stop here, after all Germany was on the defensive.

The German military historian Markus Pohlmann noted a very interesting memo that was written during the war by a German artillery general.

This memorandum included info-graphics that suggested the amount of steel needed for one Tiger could actually produce 21 artillery pieces.

Namely the Feldhaubitze 18, 105 millimeters,

which was the standard German artillery piece throughout the WW2.

Yet going down this route now, it would open up a whole new can of worms.

Let's get back to our "big cats" because what I found most interesting in Wilbeck's book is the following.

According to him, the heavy tank battalions and such the Tiger and the King Tiger were often not used according to doctrine.

And he identified various points where they were used ineffectively.

The first aspect was that in many cases there were not enough support troops,

and as such too much weight was placed on the Tigers alone.

For the most glaring example for this was the use of Tigers against mine fields.

The second major issue was that the Tigers are often used in piecemeal fashion during offensive operations,

thus contradicting the general principle concentration as outlined in doctrine, and hence severely limiting the impact of Tigers.

Of course in some cases, this was due to over-lack of Tigers.

This is a first contrary to the third point because according to Wilbeck, Tiger was most effective in the defense,

when it was dispersed along a wide frontage.

This was due to several reasons.

As pointed out, the Allies tried to avoid Tiger formations, and considering the limited amount of mobility and the reliability of the Tigers,

this could result in the loss outside of combat

Additionally, if Tigers were dispersed, this will reduce the travel distance, which could increase the operational rates.

Since they were not transferred to one hot spot to another.

So, the next time when you are in charge of a schwere panzerbattalion, you have at least basic ideas what to do.

To conclude:

Spite the various shortcomings of both the Tiger and the King Tiger on the technique level, a heavy tank battalions can be considered combat effective.

Of course, the question must be asked at what price.

Many authors know the Tigers were famous or better infamous, get it was too expensive.

Especially considering Germany's lack of resources. As such it was likely not cost effective at all.

Then again, one has to ask, "what was the alternative", because just considering Panzer IV and Stug might seem obvious.

But maybe the artillery general was right after all,

and Germany should just have spend feldhaubitze and anti-tank guns all over Europe in 1943.

Now, whatever you think of the Panzerkampfwagen VI, it really depends on the perspective, as Markus Pöhlmann illustrates very well.

Context matters.

CÓMO SACARSE LA SELFIE PERFECTA!! [MÉTODO COREANO]★JUNALE★How to take a selfie/셀카찍는법 - Duration: 10:41.

Aren't you going to talk about photoshop?

Why?

So you are not going to do it, right?

Nobody talks about those things

Taejun, do you have photoshop on your cellphone?

Of course I have it!!

Hello everyone, welcome to... JUNALE!!

Today we have an special guest!!

Hello, my name is Tania, nice to meet you.

I am from HelloTaniaChan channel

and I'm a Mexican living in South Korea

Hello everyone, my name is An Taejun

and I am currently working as an actor.

Nice to meet you!!

Well, what is today's topic?

"How Koreans take pictures"

So Jun and Taejun are going to teach us how to take pictures

taking into account the angle... and so on

because they have a Master's Degree on Taking Pictures

Yes.... Koreans are expert on taking selfies

Do you also take selfies?

No, I never take selfies

Since I arrive to Korea I started to take some pics but... not that much

I am the same... if I take a selfie I am like... whatever

Do you take a lot of selfies?

well...

It depends on my condition

Yeah, it depends if you put an effort on your face or not

For example if my hair is ok, i will take like 20 pics

So after taking a pic... Don't you do... anything else?

He is asking but he knows already

On the computer...

Whenever we are recording...

There's a specific reason why I am always sitting on the left

That's why I'm always sitting on that corner...

He doesn't allow me to sit there

It should be his good side

Yes. It's my side.

Do you also have a good angle?

Yes, this one!

The most important thing when we take selfies is...

The light

We have to receive light

One of the ways to take it will be like this

just take the cellphone and turn around once

Until you find the right point of light

Another way... try to find a spot with a lot of light

For example a bathroom

There are a lot of mirrors

so the light can be reflected

so the pic comes put really well

Have you ever took a pic on the bathroom?

Of course, Koreans do that.

Yes, for sure

It's not like...

we are taking selfies while Xhitting...

We are no like...

First

Light

More than light... the face is the most important matter

If you are beautiful or handsome... it's enough

You have to know the shape of your face.

Left, right,

looking at that, looking there,

like this, like that

Look a little bit down below

I am really embarrased right now

He went too far

You also have to do make up

At least, a little bit of cream.

Men also have to do make up, of course

In my case I have a few spots...

You?

Yeah...

No, you don't

a little

You can hit him, if you want

I don't abuse people, don't worry

Today I also did my make up, just a little bit

Yeah... just a little bit...

Wanna die?

I put lotion, BB cream and this, and that and....

Mmmm... What else?

and... that's "just a little bit"??

Just pretend you didn't see anything

Take pictures as much as possible.

making smile...

at least, there should be reasonable one at least.

So let's take a pic

Do you agree?

Yes~

And check it how well we can do it

after that they will explain where we fail

and what we have to do to take a good selfie

You try it

Before judging the pics,

I have to say that I don't like their behavior

They just took one pic!!!!

One pic is enough, isn't it?

Yeah!! and I also have a problem when taking pics... they come out shaky

That's why you have to excercise

In order to take a good selfie you have to excercise your forearm

But I do yoga everyday tough

You have to put more effort

It came out shaky

It looks like he took the pic while drinking

He looks a little bit tipsy

It's better for him not to smile when taking picture

He's better looking when he doesn't smile

being serious

Yeah look, he looks like a foreigner

You look like a foreigner

I am a foreigner

Ale has gained weight recently so...

instead of taking pics from below...

it is better to take pics from higher angles

Yeah that's right but anyways you took it from above

You are not fat

I have gained 15kg

whaaaaaaaaaaatttttttttt??!!

Try to take a pic

It is like a test!

STRESS

Let's try to take a pic from the left and right side

to check which one comes better

I prefer this side

that side?

You don't like to show your right side?

Yes.

I got it I got it

I am sorry teacher

So... first, let's chose the place

We have to look for a bright spot

Really?

That's right!! This is way brighter

But I don't like it

Look at there... OH, OH that's right!

But I DON'T LIKE IT!!!

Let's see your left

I don't like it neither!!

OH! It is pretty!

That's it!!

Beautiful!!

Ale is the problem... I hope you can help him

Serious?

Be serious!

Act!

De verdad...

Isn't this expression better?

You look so cool!!

Smile slightly

It is better not to smile

They are telling me that my nostrils are beautiful

Does it make sense?

Omg... what are you doing??? /

This pic is cool

Save me please!! Tania!! Dahlia!! (another friend)

Help me!

Even my arm is hurting!

Doesn't look skinnier here

Doesn't my face look thiner?

Your face look sharper and your forehead looks better

My forehead is big...

No... it is like... curved

And your chin looks smaller

Yeah, that's right. Koreans like small faces

That's right

If people say that you have a small face, it is a praise

or your forehead is very beautiful

As he said

In our countries... if people say you have a beautiful forehead...

we will be like... what?

I like this one

The most important thing here was the glance

This pic is art

This is my angle

You should put that pic on your kakao profile

Both are beautiful

Thankkk youuuu

Truly

You look really cool

It's an actor!

But I don't like when he smiles

I got it

I like it though

Nooo, look at this... it is like...

It is because he can't see your nostrils

Why do you make me take pics like this...

You look like a model

I love this angle

It is like a bad boy

But imagine you put that pic on your SNS...

Aren't people going to criticize you...

like... look at him being pretentious, stuck-up...

It is like boasting...

But selfies are for that... It was suposed to be like that

But in our country there isn't selfie culture...

So you don't take many pics?

That's why we don't take selfies

You look so handsome, like a model

Like a underwear model

So after taking pics... don't you do something else?

Let's keep that as a secret

Did we succes today??

We think we successed but let's see what they think

Would you take pics like this or do it the previous way

No, as I said I won't take pics like this

I know it is way better but it is a lot of work to do for a pic

Plus I don't have this selfie culture

I am not interested in apperaing even more beautiful

I wouldn't do that, I am sorry teachers

nononononononono

Today we learnt how to take pics...

We compared how Koreans and we take pics

Tania also has something to say about the pics

We are going to upload our pics on instagram

The link will be below, on the description box

Follow us and check the pics we took on our own way...

...and the pics we took with their tips

Remeber to subscribe to TaniaChan's chanel and follow her on her SNS

Santa Claus: The True Story - Duration: 14:32.

"He sees when you are sleeping, he knows when you're awake.

He knows when you've been bad, or good.

So be good, for goodness sake…"

If you live in the western world, you already know this line from "Santa Claus is Coming

to Town" by Harry Connick Jr.

We've all heard the songs and seen the movies, but you may not know the true story behind

the legend of the man who can fly around the world in just a single night.

For over a thousand years, St. Nick has been credited with selflessly leaving presents

to boys and girls out of the goodness of his heart, and he has been bringing the holiday

spirit around the globe for centuries.

He has been known by so many different names over the years- Saint Nicholas, Kris Kringle,

Father Christmas, Père Noël...And while all of the variations of the story have changed

over the years, they are all referring to the same man.

Today, on Biographics, we are going to talk about the life and legend of Santa Claus.

The Early Life of St. Nicholas Nicholas of Bari was born in the 4th Century

in the town of Myra, located in Asia Minor.

This is now located modern-day Turkey.

His parents were wealthy Christians who had trouble conceiving a child for years.

They prayed to God every day to have a child of their very own, and as soon as they finally

conceived and gave birth to a son, it truly was a miracle.

Sadly, Nicholas' parents would die of an epidemic that had spread throughout the city

of Myra, leaving him to become a young orphan.

He was raised by his uncle, who was the Bishop of Myra, and never had children of his own.

He was very proud of his nephew, especially when he grew up to be a very well-behaved

boy.

His uncle apparently announced to everyone in the church that he had a vision that his

nephew would grow up to bring joy to many people.

When Nicholas grew up, his uncle's prophecy actually did come true.

He was always kind to others, and went out of his way to help people.

As an orphan, Nicholas had a special place in his heart for the children in town, and

he would often help them make handmade toys to play with.

Even though he was from a wealthy family, he still had a lot of sympathy for the poor,

and he wanted to do whatever he could to help.

There was a man in the town who had three beautiful daughters.

But he was so poor, he could not pay for a dowry.

This meant that his daughters could not get married, and they would have to be sold into

slavery, because the father could not afford to support them.

Nicholas wanted to help, but he did not want to hurt the father's pride by offering a

donation face-to-face.

So he dropped a bag of gold down the chimney, which landed in their stockings that were

hanging up to dry.

The father and his daughters jumped for joy, believing that God had finally answered their

prayers.

He was finally able to pay for the dowry, and his oldest daughter went on to get married.

Nicholas came back to do this again for the two younger daughters, which is when he was

caught in the act.

Everyone knew that this gold wasn't just appearing out of thin air, and people began

to whisper around town about young Nicholas' kind heart and generosity.

Nicholas was a very simple person who didn't need a lot to be happy, and the money didn't

mean much to him.

But he knew his donations could be life-changing for other families in Myra.

He decided to continue paying attention to who needed the most help in the city, and

he would anonymously give his inheritance away to other people.

After this story spread around town, people began to leave their stockings and shoes by

the fireplace in hopes that they would receive gold from Nicholas, as well.

Soon after this, people throughout the city of Myra were receiving anonymous presents

that would mysteriously appear in their homes.

This sparked a spirit of giving, and neighbors were now helping out one another in their

time of need without fear of hearing their pride.

Any time an anonymous gift would show up, they decided to thank Nicholas, even if he

wasn't actually the one to deliver every single present.

People in the town began a rumor that since this man seemed to be able to be in many places

at once, he was more than just a devout Christian man.

They believed that he had been blessed with magical powers.

He truly did begin to travel across Turkey, and he reached a point where he had given

away all of his earthly possessions, which was fine by him.

He devoted his life to becoming a monk.

We know with absolute certainty that Nicholas truly was a real person, because he grew up

to take over his uncle's position as the next Bishop of Myra.

There are records of his participation in the First Council of Nicea, including his

outspoken outrage over the corruption he saw in the Catholic Church.

In one story, Nicholas witnessed a horrific scene where children had been kidnapped, and

he was able to rescue them.

He was seen as such a holy man that he was later canonized as Saint Nicholas, the patron

saint of children, and...surprisingly, sailors.

That's right, St. Nick loved to travel, even back then.

He learned to sail along the coast of Asia Minor, and dreamed of seeing the entire planet

some day.

For years to come, sailors would continue to pray to Saint Nicholas for help when they

were able to go on a long voyage.

Legend has it that one day, Turkish sailors were out at sea, and the wind and waves were

so strong, the men were afraid that the boat would capsize.

They prayed to Saint Nicholas for help, and he appeared before them, with his arms outstretched.

He was able to control the weather and calm down the ocean, and the sailors made it home

safely.

This was just one of the many examples of the stories told of St. Nick's extraordinary

magical power.

And it just may be a good explanation of how Santa manages to travel in his sleigh through

all kinds of weather.

The fantastical stories of Saint Nicholas lasted far longer than just one lifetime.

His story continued to go on for another thousand years.

It would seem that the magic behind his generosity was so inspiring and powerful, it was enough

to keep him alive in the hearts of mankind for generations to come.

Santa Inspires a Nation From the 4th to 16th Centuries, Nicholas became

one of the most popular Catholic Saints.

People continued to pray to him, wishing for his help in their time of need.

As time went on, he preferred to receive letters, rather than prayers.

It's probably much easier for him to keep records this way.

Stories of St. Nick's magic and generosity began to spread throughout the rest of the

world.

In the Netherlands, Belgium, and Switzerland, children began to leave their shoes outdoors

on St. Nicholas Day so that the jolly "Sinterklaas" could leave them presents.

Sure enough, small toys and candy were left for them when they awoke in the morning.

After the Protestant reformation, Martin Luther wanted to do away with the stories of Catholic

saints, so he said that these presents were actually coming from the baby Jesus, or the

"Christkindl".

People were confused, of course, because they knew that the real gift-giver was the jolly

old Saint Nick delivering these presents to children.

So "Christkindl" was misunderstood to be "Kris Kringle," and the nickname stuck.

After the Revolutionary war, there was a movement to reject many of the English ways of life

and start new traditions that were uniquely American.

An author by the name of Washington Irving had already made a name for himself by writing

and publishing American folk tales that had been told by word-of-mouth, like Rip Van Winkle

and the spooky "Legend of Sleepy Hollow", which became a Halloween classic.

So, when he heard about the Dutch story of "Sinterklass", he decided to officially

give him the properly American-sounding name of "Santa Claus", and St. Nick officially

became apart of the American Christmas tradition.

Over the next few hundred years, the public would learn more about Santa Claus than they

ever had before.

In 1809, Washington Irving's book called Knickerbocker's History of New York, he

wrote about a surprising Santa sighting in Central Park; "The good St. Nicholas came

riding over the tops of the trees, in that self-same wagon wherein he brings his yearly

presents to children."

He went on to explain that Santa took a break to smoke his pipe of tobacco before getting

back in his wagon and flying away.

Thankfully, Santa gave up smoking, which is partly why he has extended his life expectancy.

But he replaced it with a serious cookie addiction, so that wasn't exactly kind on his ever-expanding

waistline.

As the years went on, more and more writers would elaborate with additional details about

Santa Claus.

In December of 1823, a writer named Clement Clark Moore was walking through the snow on

his way home.

Under his arm, he had a Christmas turkey for his family, and looking around at the beautiful

scene, he was suddenly inspired to write a poem titled, "A Visit from St. Nicholas"...But

you probably know it as "The Night Before Christmas."

"'Twas the night before Christmas, when all thro' the house

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse; The stockings were hung by the chimney with

care, In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there…."

This became an incredibly popular poem.

It so perfectly captured the Christmas spirit, that in just a few years, nearly every American

knew how to recite it from memory.

Instead of thinking of his time living in Turkey as a 4th Century saint, people now

imagined Santa Claus to be a chubby, jolly old man who climbed through the chimney to

place presents in stockings and leave wrapped under the Christmas tree.

St. Nick had always been a sailor and an avid traveler throughout his lifetime.

Navigating the open sea is no easy task, especially in the tears before the benefits of GPS.

But he wanted to get around on land at a faster pace.

In 1821, an anonymous author wrote and illustrated a story called "Old Santeclaus with Much

Delight".

For the first time, the public learned that Santa had upgraded his ride from a rickety

old wagon and boat to a proper sled pulled by a single reindeer.

In 1889, poet Katharine Lee Bates introduced the world to Mrs. Claus, and we got to know

a little bit more about St. Nick's personal life.

We still don't know exactly when they got married, but this couple have what is probably

the longest lasting marriage in history.

We also don't know if they ever had any children together.

As the years went on, the public learned more about Santa's progress in his mission to

bring joy to the world.

We learned that he moved to his new secret hideout in the North Pole, and he hired a

team of elves to run his workshop.

We were introduced to his extended fleet of 8 magic reindeer, and in 1939, he added the

newest member of the team- Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

In 1891, even the President of the United States was promoting Santa Claus.

Benjamin Harrison told the press, "We shall have an old-fashioned Christmas tree for the

grandchildren upstairs, and I shall be their Santa Claus myself.

Let me hope that my example will be followed by every family in the land."

The very first video footage ever captured of Santa Claus was in 1898, by a filmmaker

named G.A. Smith.

The world could see him leaving presents for sleeping children on Christmas Eve.

Of course, as time went on and modern technology improved, more and more people were capturing

footage of Santa Claus, and it was time for him to come out of hiding, and make his first

public appearances.

The Modern Santa Moving into the 20th Century, Santa Claus

was always hip to the modern times.

During the Industrial Revolution, he was able to improve his operations with his elf employees

working the assembly lines in his workshop at the North Pole.

Santa became more like the CEO of his toy empire, making sure the operation ran as smoothly

as possible.

Now that he wasn't running his workshop alone, he was finally able to make the time

to begin making public appearances.

In 1924, he decided to be a part of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.

He received such a warm welcome from his adoring fans, that has decided to reappear every single

year ever since, so long as the organizers meet the demand on his rider to provide him

a tall glass of milk and some warm chocolate chip cookies in the green room.

The 1980's brought on the boom of the shopping mall in the United States, and this began

the tradition of Santa Claus taking personal requests from girls and boys.

There is even a massive party called "Santa Con" held every year in New York City, which

isn't even a real convention...It's just an excuse to dress up like St. Nick and party

in the streets.

There is also the Liverpool Santa Dash, and so many other events around the world thrown

in his honor.

Moving into the 21st century, modern technology has helped us truly break down the science

of just how Santa manages to make his journey.

You can now track St Nick's progress on the Google Maps "Santa Tracker".

And in 2016, The Mirror did an intensive study on the statistics of Santa's magical journey

on Christmas Eve.

They discovered that in order for him to deliver presents to every single child in the world

on a single night, he needs to travel at speeds of 1,280 miles per second, which is faster

than the speed of sound...It's no wonder that we rarely ever see him in the night sky.

Even though the world loves Santa Claus, that doesn't mean his legacy has been free from

controversy.

Indeed, he is often blamed for being at the root of making the holiday season about material

things, rather than having young people remember the true meaning of Christmas.

Commercialism is a very real thing, of course, and there is no denying that Santa Claus has

helped sell billions of dollars in products every holiday season, from coca cola to Barbie

dolls.

But in a world where religion and politics divide so many people, there are very few

things that Americans can agree on quite like the tradition of Santa Claus.

Every December 24th, children go to bed early and wake up at the crack of dawn, hoping that

they will find presents underneath their Christmas tree.

For many, it's one of the very few memories we all share of having faith in something,

and the experience of childhood wonder and the belief in magic.

Sometimes, Santa Claus can't do everything by himself, and needs to recruit help in unexpected

ways.

Just one example of this was in 2011.

A young couple named Jim and Dylan moved into their new apartment on West 22nd Street in

New York City, when they started to get letters in their mailbox addressed to Santa Claus.

They thought this was a joke, of course, and they went to the post office to see if there

was a forwarding address for the previous tenant, they were told that yes, there was,

but it was simply put as; "The North Pole."

At first, they didn't know what to do with these letters, and they had no idea how these

random children got their address.

They even did a thorough search on Google.

Eventually, they decided that they could not ignore these letters.

Many of them were heartbreaking letters that came from under-privileged children.

Dylan and Jim began to pass out letters to their friends and co-workers who all shared

in the responsibility of buying presents for these kids.

Soon enough, the word spread on Facebook, and they were able to get hundreds of letters

fulfilled by kind-hearted volunteers.

They now run a charity called Miracle on 22nd Street, where anyone can volunteer to help

out with the letters to Santa.

If you still aren't convinced in the existence of Santa Claus, there are few words that can

better express the truth than that of Francis Pharcellus Church.

In 1897, an 8-year old girl named Virginia O'Hanlon wrote to the New York Sun, saying

that her friends in school told her that Santa Claus was not real.

She asked them to tell her the truth, and Church published his reply.

"Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.

He exists as sure as generosity and devotion exists, and you know they abound and give

to your life its highest beauty and joy.

Alas!

How dreary the world would be without a Santa Claus."

Here at Biographics, we want to say that Santa Claus truly does exist, so long as he remains

in our hearts.

We wish you a Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays.
