Waching daily Dec 19 2018

Welcome to another white boy talks about what it's like being in another country

disseminating behavior analysis but first real quick let's... yes I've worn

this like three straight days in a row as I was prepping all these scripts. Carlos

thank you man - love it! Before we talk about the trip

and what dissemination is we need to talk about what it is not. It's no one

thing that is you can't put a link on social media or a post and saying that

you're doing stuff and then quote call that it's that single post dissemination

you can't state your values and do something without considering the

lasting long-term impacts that you're going to actually produce. There is a

time factor here and it is definitely not going somewhere for vacation doing a

single talk and now you have disseminated to another country. There

are countless ways that we've talked about dissemination or feel and

surprisingly this channel is not primarily first dissemination it is just

documenting the journey towards attempts to do such things. One of those is a trip

that happened in Brazil I committed to documenting and sharing those we did a

six-part series that have released on this channel ready it was a behind the

scenes we uploaded while we were there but this is the kind of deep dive what

actually happened what makes these sort of trip to happen what are the outcomes

what are the stories and we found along the way so if you're up for a six-part

series now is the time to watch sit down this is the first of the six videos if

you aren't going to commit to six videos you're not going to get the full story

you're probably best just clicking out now not watching these in isolation

there's one every day for five days with two on Saturday this week for you to

enjoy. Megan Miller made this trip possible her herself she works with a

Navigation Behavioral Consulting as well as PEAK ABA Solutions and her work is

what led to this happening. So just up front as a sponsored video by a patron

here at Megan Miller - not the companies. And one last housekeeping

thing I have tagged people that are actually doing the work here

I am the avenue sharing and communicating

stories on the channel but the people doing the hard work are linked on every

single video in every single post related to this that you can hear from

them and they can give in their comments as well so everybody please do that

across the series i'ma share with you how we got there some of the people that

we met the things that were accomplished some of the similarities and differences

between the cultures behavior analysis in those cultures perspectives that i

gathered from practitioners and parents of children diagnosed with autism and

will be ending on some of the larger cultural differences between the u.s.

and Brazil because so many of you asked what those are. So if you're in buckle up

get ready because we are off to Brazil. So the goal of today is to talk about

the similarities and differences and some of the pain points that we've seen

down there while we were visiting. Some interesting parallels families and

practitioners are equally I would say just as worried about the quality of

services that should be expected from practitioners that are down there

that being said even though the BACB has influence on certificate holders across

the world we realized that there is an entirely different culture a different

market a different perception towards how that governing agency really is

performing going to help and have the resources to help perform in those

cultures outside of the US. I would say on large a lot of the issues that people

have from governing agencies like the BACB are mirrored down there just like we

experienced here in the United States a very similar issue between the

practitioners the people teaching in the institutions completing the research as

well as what is needed in the community that is very, unfortunately similar as we

experience here in the US there's disconnects among them all with people

trying to fix this but with the rapid growth it just exacerbates the issues as

we've seen with early days in the u.s. certification system many people are

going out and claiming that some sort of amount of training that could be as

little as 5, 10, 20 hours are actually enough to be providing services and we

see this ripple effect throughout the communities down there parents literally

crying talking about how they've gone through services where they were

promised for sometimes years that there would be effects and no

growth was seen... and part of this is this idea that ABA is solely autism treatment

and that is which is unfortunately this misunderstanding and likes at least 10

countries in the last year I think the ships sailed like ABA is synonymous with

autism treatment for most people. Brazil included. One other thing that was

communicated that is unfortunately the similar the u.s. is that those with the

most of your needs the most impacted the most most difficult social economic

statuses are the ones that are getting the least amount of services capitalism

continues influence this field it always will but I'm not sure that we are

leveraging that to provide the services and the best model possible in any

country I'm not critiquing any particular one. And just like in the u.s.

we saw with Catherine and maurices let me hear your voice and the role of a

grassroots movement pushing and propelling a service model forward

caregivers and family members are crucial in the development of service

models but these parents know that help out there does actually exist they just

don't know where to get it what form is going to be in and how to access

something that is going to work and scale no of ABA but the lack of it being

available in quality practitioners is extremely exacerbated compared to the

United States personally I get a little down on this because when you run the

numbers I do that another video it's neat right here you'll see that our

model cannot meet the demand of autism diagnoses alone... it just doesn't add up

love to hear thoughts and maybe helping me fill that gap but I personally don't

see it happening in the current systems that are available. To shift gears a

little bit the differences that we had saw in this community where were

enlightening and heartwarming. There is a true commitment to understanding the

science that that being the different pillar from philosophy into a ABA to EAB

to practice. The proportion of well-trained analysts there as opposed to just

strictly implementation specialists was unreal it was it was great to be around

that community and that was mirrored by an extremely high level of motivation so

my hats off to all of you there's a lot of hard working people that I met on

and although there are those disconnects that we talked about earlier between

training the practitioners the researchers there are some of them out

there that are trying to actually solve those problems so that kind of sets the

stage. Dissemination itself and specifically Brazil dates back to Fred

Keller as well as a bunch of other people

today's task for you is to look into the people that are actively working so we

can kind of start to build a foundation and set the stage for the future videos

so they are linked down below make sure to go check them out please leave them a

comment down below praising their efforts asking them any particular

questions that you may have so tomorrow you will need Daniela who helped make

this trip possible without her none of it literally could have happened and a

grassroots movement led by a bunch of mothers who have children diagnosed with

autism and related disabilities so tune back in I'll see you there remember go check

people out send your praise

that's your, Daily BA

My Neighbor, Charles | 이웃집 찰스Ep167/Comedian Kim Hyeseon and her husband Stefan Part2[ENG/2018.12.18] - Duration: 48:37.

(The cultural center of Korea)

(Korea's landmark, Dongdaemun)

(DDP, Jung-gu, Seoul)

(The 167th story)

(This comedian disappeared from TV)

I thought it was just acting...

But it felt like that became my persona.

I felt like my real self disappeared.

I needed a change in my life.

It must've been a rough time for you.

(She ran away to Germany to find herself)

(And there, she gained a special person, Stefan)

(They seem like such a sweet couple)

(But reality has been hitting them hard)

There are wedding expenses, paying respect...

There's so much to do.

He doesn't understand that stuff.

(Stefan tries his best to adjust to Korea)

(Hyeseon helps Stefan look for a job!)

(Will Stefan get a job in Korea?)

This is My Neighbor, Charles

where we meet foreigners living in Korea.

- Hello. / - Hello.

Continuing from last week,

we have Hyeseon and Stefan back on our show.

Now we'll finally find out.

- Yeah. / - I was so curious.

- I was so curious. / - The week felt so long.

I was curious.

The last episode was a big hit.

Hyeseon and Stefan were such

an adorable couple.

Stefan said he had so much fun.

He thinks he should work on TV now.

(Stefan wants to work on TV?)

Stefan, don't learn too much Korean.

- Why not? / - His spot...

He might end up taking my spot.

We'll always have that spot

open for you, Stefan.

You can change now. Come sit here, Fabian.

I will be going to the job fair for foreigners in 2019.

- Change roles. / - I'll be ready.

We were really curious.

- He failed the interview... / - What happened?

The interviewer wanted to speak to you, Hyeseon.

Do we finally get to hear what he told you?

Maybe he wanted Hyeseon's autograph.

That's a possibility.

- Anyway, let's watch the clip. / - Let's find out.

(My Neighbor, Charles)

(Foreigner job fair, Gangnam, Seoul)

Good luck. Good luck, honey.

(Smooch)

Please be good to him.

Let's talk in Korean.

(Very troubling from the start!)

Korean... I'm studying it now.

It's harder to speak in a foreign language

when you're nervous.

(Hyeseon has no idea what's going on)

They keep showing each other their phones.

I hope it goes well.

When we meet our government client,

you need to understand and speak.

Not perfectly, but...

Because in our industry

a lot of communication is happening.

So I cannot give you the chance for the internship.

You need to learn Korean.

Yeah, I have to improve the language.

- You need to learn first. / - You're right.

(He fails his second interview because of his Korean)

- Say good-bye. / - Good-bye.

Oh, he failed another interview...

I bet that was very stressful for him.

(Just then!)

It was right here.

(He wants to talk to Hyeseon?)

Even if he isn't fluent in Korean,

he has to be able to communicate.

Because all of our employees speak English.

So we can't offer him the internship now.

If he improves his Korean,

it'll be easier for him to find a job.

Good-bye.

He wanted to give her advice.

He was really helpful.

Since Stefan has a good resume...

Hello.

(Another couple shows up)

Who is this?

He works in a similar field that Stefan worked in.

So he gives us a lot of information and he helps us.

- He interviewed at two places so far. / - Two?

Start off greeting them in Korean.

That's a tip.

"Hello, my name is Stefan.

Nice to meet you."

(Preparing a Korean greeting)

(Stefan is nervous before his next interview)

He looks uncomfortable.

Hello, can he have his interview now?

Yes, he can have it now.

Right here?

(He starts his next interview with reliable supporters)

Hello, my name is Stefan. Nice to meet you.

That was good.

I'm a comedian and he's my husband.

He's worked in public engineering.

And... He studied in Germany.

It was hard to explain.

He's looking for a job in Korea,

which is why he's interviewing here.

Our company doesn't do environmental work.

You don't do public engineering?

He has a lot of experience in construction too.

(This job is different from Stefan's expertise)

There were a lot of different fields within that field.

Thank you.

(Stefan has lost hope for this job)

Good job.

Gosh, this is hard.

They all told him he needs to be better at Korean.

(Hyeseon also seems a bit down now)

That is a construction company...

But it's a different type of construction?

Yeah, it's different.

- They build stuff like tunnels... / - I see.

It's different from what Stefan did.

I wanted to go home.

(Stefan doesn't give up and keeps looking for work)

- That's not good for his confidence. / - Right.

(Hyeseon starts to feel frustrated and pressured)

- He has all this great work experience. / - Yeah.

I bet you got to find out here

how remarkable your husband is.

One time, I apologized to him that I'm a foreigner.

- Really? / - Then he said that...

He would be a foreigner in Korea.

That made me so sad.

I think this is hard for him.

(All international couples must face this reality)

Hyeseon is a hard worker.

I think she has to work even harder in Korea

than in Germany because of me.

I can do things on my own in Germany,

but I need Hyeseon's help for everything in Korea.

This has to be really hard on her.

I feel terrible about it.

It's okay.

I'm sorry.

No, it's fine.

(They feel bad for each other)

Finding a job is hard.

It's especially hard in Korea.

It is. I bet you had no idea it would be this hard.

With marriage, you just need

to be considerate and make sacrifices.

But with finding a job, it's hard even if...

- You both work at it together. / - Right.

And after he went to the foreigner job fair,

the first thing he said was,

"It's not time for me to find a job.

It's time for me to learn Korean as soon as possible."

That's what he said.

He worked in a unique field.

Urban ecology.

- Even the term is hard. / - It is.

And I have no knowledge of construction,

so it's even harder.

I don't have many ways to help him.

If he was looking for a job in TV,

I could set him up with the right people.

He interviewed with a bank

and a language company at the job fair.

Is there another field you'd want to pursue?

I got used to doing one kind of job in Germany.

I think it's time for a change.

I'm definitely ready to work in a different field.

Fabian was a taekwondo major

and now he's working on TV, which is very different.

- He's a model too. / - I studied international trade.

Oh, that was your major?

Why would you even study that?

- When you work on TV. / - I'm not sure either.

Stefan could also pursue a totally different field.

I bet Fabian seems amazing to Stefan.

- Why? / - Because he's a foreigner...

That has a job and is very good at Korean.

There's nothing amazing about that.

I've been living here for 10 years.

You'll be like this when you've lived here for 10 years.

(Wedding photos with class 26 comedians)

(Wedding photo studio, Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi-do)

(Why are Hyeseon's comedian colleagues here?)

(The bride and groom arrive late)

I'm a woman.

- This is Stefan! / - Stefan!

It's your first time seeing him, right?

Happy birthday, by the way.

My colleagues met him for the first time.

- That's their first time meeting? / - Yes.

You look pretty.

Stefan, it's his birthday today.

- Really? / - It's his birthday today.

- Happy birthday. / - Thank you, thank you.

You have a nickname for her, right, Stefan?

What do you call her? Not honey.

(Hyeseon gives Stefan a hint)

- Cutie. / - Cutie?

I bet she enforced that on you.

"Have you eaten?" And you'd answer, "cutie."

She made you say cutie constantly, I bet.

- No! / - If someone asks you where she is...

Cutie.

If you hear Hyeseon, you automatically say cutie now.

(Everyone calls each other different things)

My colleagues and I are close.

- Those are for us? / - Yeah.

- How about getting them out of the rain? / - Yeah.

We're going to be wearing that.

Right. They're in bags.

Korea and Germany.

- This is actually pretty meaningful. / - Yeah.

- Nice one. / - Pretty clever, right?

Korea and Germany.

- That looks good. / - And we're class 26.

So thoughtful.

I designed that myself.

When one of us comedians get married,

we make matching shirts.

- Really? / - That's like your tradition?

Yes, for our comedian class.

I thought you made those for soccer.

Korea beat Germany by 2:0.

Hey!

(More of Hyeseon's comedian colleagues are here)

- Hello! Nice to meet you! / - Nice to meet you.

Nice to meet you.

They're all comedians.

(Stefan is starting to loosen up)

Very nice. It looks good.

Stefan wants to be friends.

The shirts look really cute.

Tell him to hurry.

Yeah, I'm almost there.

Stefan is waiting for you.

Hold on.

Talk to him.

(He starts speaking in German)

- Tell him to hurry. / - Hurry.

I'll be right there.

Get here soon. Tell him to hurry.

Hurry.

Does this look good on me?

How's my hair?

You look good no matter what.

Is Stefan waiting for someone?

There's someone Stefan likes.

(Noisy)

(Is Stefan's guy here?)

(Comedian Lim Wooil of "Gag Concert")

It's comedian Lim Wooil.

(It's not this guy)

It's not him.

I bet he's waiting for a woman.

He's been waiting for you!

- Oh, it's Taehun. / - Seo Taehun.

He likes Taehun the best?

Why though? Is he a fan?

He's a fan of Taehun.

(Stefan's favorite Korean star)

I like Seo Taehun too...

I like him too.

Who do you think you are? Gang Dongwon?

This is what...

My heart told me to do.

What is that?

Sleazy concept.

When I went to the taping, Seo Taehun

seemed like the boss of "Gag Concert."

He was doing the most work on the show.

Right, on "Gag Concert..."

Isn't he the youngest comedian?

Taehun hosts the show with a mic.

That's true.

Those parts are unaired,

but he hosts the show between skits.

It looks like he works very hard.

Seo Taehun, I have a gift.

A gift?

- Just for me? / - Yes.

Here you go.

Look at him!

He brought a gift just for Taehun.

- What did he get him? / - A gift just for me!

Taehun...

(Feeling hurt)

- They're upset... / - I bet.

- Let's leave. / - Bye.

The rest of them want to leave.

(The comedians act jealous)

Just Photoshop us into the wedding photos.

Thank you.

(Stefan only seems to care about Taehun)

He wants to know if you like it.

I love it.

I love it. I'll make sure

to even wear this during winter.

Look at him with his hands together.

(Hyeseon is translating for him)

I'll even wear this during winter.

I hope the size is right.

(Super jealous)

Where's my t-shirt?

I'm poor, so I don't have much money.

Sorry.

Look me in the eyes and tell me.

He says he's poor.

He's suddenly poor?

(Feeling bad)

(The wedding photo shoot starts)

Action!

We didn't plan on having umbrellas,

but we changed things because of the rain.

It still looks nice.

This looks nice.

(He changes into hanbok?)

- How cute. / - It looks good on him.

(Shy)

I look really cool.

(Stefan's first time wearing a traditional wedding hat)

He looks like Sejong the Great.

I'm very happy to wear this today.

(Now things look a bit more traditional)

- Wow, so pretty. / - Group photo looks great.

(Stefan and Hyeseon's shoot was special)

The photos look beautiful.

They look great.

In Korea, they call it SDM.

A studio shoot, dressing up and makeup.

How did that all feel as a man?

He sighed first.

It was really hard.

We started at 4 a.m.

I had to wake up, get my hair and makeup done,

change into a bunch of outfits

and the shoot lasted all day.

I had to change many times.

It was a lot of hard work.

They don't do wedding photo shoots in Germany.

They just take photos on the day of the wedding.

(Relatable)

He complained a bit over

having to wear so many different outfits.

It was really stressful for him.

He passed out the next day.

I have a question.

Why do you like Seo Taehun so much?

He would always praise Taehun.

It made me angry. I asked, "Is it me or Taehun?"

This actually happened.

Then what did Stefan say?

Of course I said Hyeseon.

- What a relief. / - Yeah.

But this is important. He said me,

but he had to think about it first.

"Hmm... Let's see..."

Like that.

That was kind of mean.

I'm here...

And Seo Taehun is down here.

And Hyeseon would be here.

And Sayuri is here.

I'm above him?

(This is hard for Stefan to believe)

Just stay naive like that forever!

Gosh, he's so naive.

(I still like Seo Taehun)

(This is Berlin, Germany)

(Stefan returned to Germany after the photo shoot)

Where is this? This is Berlin?

- It looks cold. / - And a bit gloomy.

Yeah.

(Slumped shoulders, gloomy steps)

(He tries to smile)

He looks lonely without his wife.

(This is so sad)

I think we went there together.

(I miss you, Hyeseon)

I want to ride that boat with Hyeseon in the summer.

We'll be all over this lake.

- I like boats like that. / - I haven't watched this.

So you filmed him by himself.

(The boat he wants to ride with Hyeseon)

(Video chatting with Hyeseon)

I'm coming to Korea where you are soon.

- I'll be waiting for you. / - Video chatting is nice.

We video chat all the time.

I'll be there soon.

I'll call you back when I get home. See you later.

I bet his hands are really cold.

- Since it's cold there. / - His hands are all red.

(Who is this?)

- Is that his mother? / - And father.

I miss them!

His dad is so handsome.

- Who is that? / - Stefan's older sister.

Today is Stefan's birthday.

I'm Alexandra...

- Stefan's older sister. / - She looks like her mom.

I'm Stefan's father. I'm Gunther.

I'm Stefan's mother. I'm Veroika.

(Stefan's family is together for his birthday)

- It was his birthday? / - It was?

My mom baked an apple cake for my birthday.

And this cake was bought from a bakery.

But the homemade one tastes better.

(The original sweet husband)

That cake is so good.

They made it?

Stefan's mother baked that cake for me...

- On my birthday too. / - It looks delicious.

They grow the apples themselves.

Happy birthday, Stefan!

She acts so cute.

Thank you. I wish you were here on my birthday too.

(The family is happy to see Hyeseon)

His dad looks like Santa Claus.

I'm going to a register office today

to get the forms needed to get married.

He filmed this himself?

It looks pretty natural.

He does want to work on TV.

That's where I can apply for the forms.

- Have you been there? / - Not there.

They always have weddings here,

so there are always traces leftover on the ground.

When we have our wedding in Germany later...

We're going to get married in this building.

So you can have weddings

at these public offices.

It's free to get married here too.

That's a great place for your wedding, Hyeseon.

It's such a pretty building.

It says registration office.

He's explaining everything too.

- It's like a registration office in Korea. / - Yes.

I'm all done here.

I applied for the forms and it'll take some time.

- He came right back out. / - Yeah.

Now I have to send those forms to Korea.

Hyeseon has to send them back to me in Germany.

I'm very satisfied now and

I'm happy that I'll go back to see Hyeseon soon.

I love you, my dear.

How does the process go

to get married in Germany, Stefan?

It's a bit complicated to marry a foreigner.

You need forms from each country.

The forms have to be translated and notarized.

And the entire process is really slow in Germany.

It also costs a lot of money to get those forms.

- So it costs a lot too? / - Really?

In Korea...

I went with Stefan to the district ward

and got the forms.

It only cost around $3.

It was like $1 for each form.

And when I got them right away,

he was like, "Already?

And they only cost $3?"

It's fast and cheap for us.

But in Germany, you have to

apply for the forms

and it usually takes around a month.

You get the forms a month or two later.

You go to apply for the forms first.

Then you pay for them.

One of the forms cost 80 euros.

(80 euros is around $102)

Koreans don't know this,

but Korea has the best administrative workers

in the world.

They're so competent.

They're fast and the process is so easy.

But in Europe, it's slow and expensive.

Things go wrong. It's really complicated.

The process is a lot harder

for those that want an international marriage.

The language barrier and cultural differences

make things hard enough as it is.

That's why I'm not married yet.

It's too complicated.

Because the process is too complicated.

Just get married already, Sayuri.

(Marriages blues)

(Hyeseon's younger sister lives here)

- This is Gwangyang, Jeollanam-do? / - Yes.

- I thought it was LA. / - Me too.

What's with this entrance?

Hey!

I thought you were a stranger.

- What are you up to? / - When did you get here?

I was looking at something.

Why did you bring that?

I should write stuff down in here.

I'm making a list of stuff we need.

Then we'll see how much everything costs.

After that,

I'll try to help you with anything I can.

- Since you've done this already. / - Yeah.

Just follow me.

What a reliable younger sister.

She's like a mother.

Wow.

Don't you need a new washing machine?

Why are washing machines so expensive?

This one costs over $2,000?

- They're pretty pricy. / - Yeah.

If you check around...

Second-hands only cost around $100.

(Sheesh)

How is a fridge $6,000? That's insane.

- Don't go that way. / - Yeah?

They get pricier as you go down the line.

Don't go that way.

This way...

You need a fridge.

Only 7 eggs fit in my fridge.

Time for dinner, Stefan.

(Hehehe)

(Hyeseon starts to miss Stefan)

I wish Stefan was here to check this stuff out too.

You don't have time for that.

Shopping together will make us feel like newlyweds.

(Depressed)

(Smack)

- You startled me. / - It's fine. You have me.

(Venting to her sister about her concerns)

Marriage is reality.

But you know...

Our house doesn't feel like a newlywed home.

Your place?

So many things to worry about.

It's like this when you get married.

Your husband took care of some stuff

when you were getting married.

He's reliable.

Stefan is reliable too.

But he isn't Korean, so he doesn't know the culture.

There's nothing he can really help with here,

so that gives me more to do.

Hyeseon, you have to have everything ready.

That's only temporary.

He'll adjust and get used to it later on.

He'll find ways he can help

and take the lead.

It's going to be hard on you at first though.

And of course, it'll be hard for Stefan too.

Yeah, it'll be hard for him too.

I hope they can live without worries.

Right, I bet that's how she feels.

Even if they're not super rich...

I want them to live without worries.

They're really worried right now.

They have a lot of concerns. It's complicated.

Once they have their wedding,

I hope my sister can make a clean start.

The culture is different

and the process is complicated.

You have to have deep conversations sometimes.

I realized this after dating him.

He doesn't understand the words,

but he understands the heart.

That's what he taught me.

But honestly, he couldn't understand some things

about the Korean wedding culture.

"Why do we have to do that?"

We still had some disagreements,

so that was a bit hard.

Did you two fight?

You have to be good at the language to fight.

That's true.

The fact that you two aren't fluent in both languages...

- Could be helpful. / - That's true.

We've met a lot of couples that are actually

happier because they can't communicate as well.

Sometimes you let things slide.

But if you're really good at the language

and you start fighting...

That's why I hope he never learns Korean.

Did you date foreigners in the past?

(Shh)

My gosh! I never thought about that.

Do not translate that for him.

Do not translate that.

(It's our little secret)

I bet it's frustrating for Stefan too.

I'm sure you want to vent at times,

so I bet that's frustrating.

Honestly, not really.

I can always talk things over with Hyeseon.

And...

A lot of times, I have to

guess what she's trying to tell me.

But I always understand her.

And it's the same for her.

Gosh, he knows what to say on TV.

If you're ever frustrated, just call Seo Taehun...

Stop talking about Seo Taehun!

(Great news)

- What's the news? / - What is it?

(Stefan is back from Germany)

(He's out by himself without Hyeseon?)

He's outside to do something.

Yes, he's going somewhere.

Where though?

(Glances)

Where is he going?

I guess he went somewhere while I was working.

Apgujeong Station.

Apgujeong Station.

I hope he can find it.

I was on my way to a German language school.

I had an interview there.

That's great.

(At the foreigner job fair)

(Stefan interviewed with a big language school)

(He got an interview for a German language school)

So he only has to be good at German.

So the job fair actually helped.

- He got an email from them. / - What a relief.

Expwess Bus... Deminal.

Excuse me, but isn't terminal an English word?

But it was written in Korean.

And then I go to line 3.

To Apgujeong Station.

- You can read Korean? / - Yes, he can.

(He has to transfer at Express Bus Terminal)

I hope he gets there just fine.

(Will Stefan be able to find his way?)

(He arrives at the transfer station)

It's this one.

(He checks what he wrote down)

Stefan doesn't like taking the subway.

I bet he's nervous about missing his stop.

This really scared me at first.

I used to always mix up Sincheon and Sinchon.

(Stefan gets off at the transfer station)

And it's so crowded.

(Will he be able to make the transfer?)

What if he's late?

It's okay.

He's so embarrassed.

He might be late.

Excuse me.

Is this the right train to Apgujeong?

Apgujeong arrival?

It's not here. It's the other side.

This side?

They can somehow understand each other.

Thank you.

(Will Stefan find his way this time?)

(He gets a phone call from Hyeseon!)

I went to the subway heading the wrong way.

It's fine. I just went the wrong way.

He's going back there again.

No, no...

That one's going towards Daehwa. He's right.

I guess you don't take the subway, Seokcheon.

Pardon?

It was so frustrating.

He was almost an hour late.

That would never happen in Germany.

When you go to an interview in Germany,

you show up early or at least be on time.

Or else, it'll just make you look bad.

If you aren't punctual,

that's going to reflect on you poorly.

(He finally arrives at Apgujeong Station)

I just arrived at Apgujeong Station...

- And I came out of exit 4. / - He's late...

He's probably stressed out.

(The interview is at 500m away from exit 4)

That's far. 500m...

He should've just taken a taxi.

(Stefan asks someone for help again)

I'm Chinese.

A foreigner asking a foreigner for directions.

Things aren't looking good.

She made a funny face. "I'm Chinese!"

- Oh, really? I'm sorry. / - A German man...

Asking for directions in Apgujeong, Seoul...

To a Chinese person.

- Out of all the people. / - What a nightmare.

It was awful.

It was a terrible day

where I was late for my interview.

I was hoping the language school

would be understanding.

Oh!

He found it.

Finally?

How long did that take him?

- An hour. / - It says German.

There it is.

(But he's already 1 hour late)

(Oh, no)

I hope it works out.

(How will Stefan's interview go?)

I bet the interviewer was angry.

(Hyeseon arrives because she was worried!)

It took me some time to find that place too.

It was hard to find.

(Hyeseon nervously waits for Stefan)

- Did you wait for him? / - Yes.

(Stefan comes out from his interview)

How did it go?

- The interview took an hour? / - Is that a contract?

- Stefan! / - Yes.

She's like his savior.

(They're happy to see each other)

This is your class?

The number of students I'm teaching.

(Looks like his interview went pretty well)

What a relief.

What do you think about working

at a language school?

It's a good school and the boss seems nice.

He seems like a successful and kind person.

I think I need some time to think this over.

(It's not easy for him to reach a decision yet)

He can't make a sudden decision.

I think I know how he feels.

- He's never done this kind of work. / - Right.

This isn't his major.

It could be hard for him.

(Stefan waits for someone by himself again)

Good to see you again!

- How have you been? / - They met again.

Now they're like best friends.

You met Daniel again?

He can call on him whenever times are tough.

It's good that they met.

I heard you went to a job fair recently.

How was it?

I got interviewed at a language school.

I'm wondering if I should start teaching there.

If it's a short-term job,

I definitely recommend it.

I applied for a German language school at first too.

Right.

That's the easiest way for foreigners to find work.

Right.

I failed the interview.

But that was because I knew how to speak Korean.

If the students found out that I knew Korean,

they might try speaking to me in Korean.

So they turned me down for that.

Because he's good at Korean...

If you're too good at Korean,

the students will try to speak to you in Korean

instead of the language they're learning.

So it's better that Stefan doesn't know Korean.

- He's a native speaker. / - A native speaker.

If that's the case for you,

this is a great opportunity.

If it was me, I'd definitely work there.

But this is what I'm unsure of.

The students are all Korean and I'm German.

How am I supposed to explain stuff to them?

Don't worry about that.

Korean students understand everything.

When I was in Germany,

all I used was German.

- That's how you learn faster. / - No English at all.

I bet the language school

only wants you to speak in German.

Even if the students don't understand,

it's important that you keep speaking German.

In Germany, we try to fill our resume

with work experiences in the same field.

Right, but it isn't like that in Korea.

So I can work in this field for a few years

and go into a totally unrelated field later on.

Yes, that won't be much of a problem here.

You can't think like you did in Germany.

He's giving him a lot of good advice.

Daniel told me that he really struggled

when he first came to Korea.

It was consolation that everyone struggles at first.

He also spoke very positively about living in Korea,

so I'm even more excited about living here.

Did you decide to work at the language school?

I'm actually still thinking about it.

Daniel said that it's a good job

for me to start off with in Korea.

So I'll probably start working at that school soon.

(Just for you)

(The night grows deeper in Seoul)

- Did you take the cruise at Hangang? / - Pretty.

(A cruise ship filled with love)

It's romantic there.

I want to ride that too.

A lot of foreigners.

Yes, that was my first time taking that cruise.

Really?

The people that live in Seoul don't ride that.

Even though it's right nearby...

It's nice here. Thank you for bringing me.

We should take a photo there too.

How romantic.

They should do all that stuff too.

You should.

When you ask someone

to take your photo abroad...

You have to be careful.

(Making a nice memory on the cruise ship)

Handsome guy!

But! But it's mine.

(A lot of people came to cover their wedding)

He actually wore that jacket for the photos?

It's fine. It'll be a nice memory.

I can't look!

(The colleagues prepare the wedding song)

You should really thank your colleagues.

(It's in German?)

- So they spelled everything out... / - In Korean.

What are you doing now, Hyeseon?

Let's get started.

It's time for "Hot Topics".

So I have a hair fracture on my right shoulder,

and I did it on Sunday, and by Monday morning,

my shoulder was on fire.

There's no way I coulda done yesterday's show,

so I went and, I was all up at the medical care

yesterday from one doctor to the other, so I'm on the mend.

I don't need an operation.

They tell me I'm very healthy, you know, for ...

Yay!

Yes. (laughs)

Fortunately, this is the last week of us doing this show,

so really only has to work around this for a moment

before I just go home and rest it.

That's all you can do, rest.

Ugh. Tender ... oof.

Anyway, so congratulations to Remy Ma and Papoose.

I mean, the performance was crowded.

He had a whole bunch of people with him

like Teddy Riley and a whole bunch of people,

so it was like, but they went to a dimly lit bar

that wasn't crowded, and clearly they were making out.

Ooh!

Danielle says, "You know how long we've been friends."

Excuse me. Oh God.

(laughs)

I believe that Danielle probably

loves the spotlight as much as he does,

and I do think this need to be played out

on the Real Housewives of New Jersey.

(clapping)

It might ...

(clapping)

I mean, why not?

They got the old season on, or there's a new season

playing now.

It's tired.

I mean, you know I know.

I've been in a sling, so ...

(laughs)

I'm like, "Ugh, gosh. I'd rather go to sleep."

Um, but this is something to look at,

and no, they're not gonna fight.

I don't think Al's a fighter.

She has more, she has more to gain

from him going on Jersey though than he does, you know?

I mean, he can take her to a couple of his shows and stuff.

I don't know that the core audience

of the Housewives of Jersey buy Al B Sure music,

but we can try. (laughs)

But we can try, but no, Danielle

stands a lot to gain with this, mm-hmm.

You remember when Al was a contestant

on Omerosa's dating show?

She had a reality dating show produced by the President.

Oh, oh!

Yes, produced by the President, Trump.

(laughs)

Now they didn't date on this reality show,

but you know Al loves the spotlight.

He's trying to get in there any way he can,

and now, like he gained a bit of weight at one point,

but now he's back to being svelte

and touring and doing stuff.

Al, stick with Danielle.

Just see where this goes with you guys,

not romantically, eh, I don't care,

but, but for the cameras, for the cameras, for the cameras.

Why not?

(clapping)

I would like to think that grown people

know what they're doing when they cook up relationships

like that for the cameras.

(smacks tongue)

Ugh. Mm.

Let's moon it.

Moonves is not getting his $120 million severance.

(cheering and clapping)

Well apparently, CBS found that he interfered with

the company's sexual assault investigation.

He deleted hundreds of texts from his texts,

and then over the weekend, he had to turn over a tablet

at his home, they came to the home,

and he turned over his nine-year-old son Charlie's tablet.

Oh.

So you know, you know when the Feds open that up,

he's like (laughs) a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

screensaver. (laughs)

Listen, I don't feel sorry for him.

He has over $70 million already.

700, excuse me, $700 million already.

Oh!

And another $120 million is not going to do anything.

It was mentioned to me, "Well maybe he can get the 120

and promise to donate it to a women's shelter

or something for women," and I'm like,

"Nobody wants your blood money."

Oh! (clapping)

I don't know, I mean, clap if you think that

would be a good idea.

Should he donate?

(small amount of clapping)

That's blood money. Okay.

Well, he has 30 days to contest the ruling.

I think that whether he wins or loses,

people's opinions will not change of him, you know?

And, or her, and I think they put on a, oh God.

No, I get, yeah, no, it's bone on bone.

I get crackin'. (laughs)

Um, I think that, um, when they go out,

they represent a good couple, but I think inside, no.

"You go to your wing, I go to my wing.

We do our separate lives.

When we are with Charlie, we present a united front.

When Charlie leaves for college, I'm out."

or something.

So, more to this story is that

12 women have come forward against him.

Ugh!

Oh.

He's still saying that all the sexual encounters

were consensual.

Oh.

Well, I'm lost in this whole story.

It's been dragged out for so long.

It's just, mm, mm.

Let's change the subject.

Yeah! (clapping)

So Russell Simmons is furious, so am I,

that LL Cool J did not get into

the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Oh!

Last week, they inducted seven new artists.

We reviewed this.

Janet Jackson was inducted, Def Leppard was inducted,

Stevie Nicks was inducted as a solo artist

even though she was also inducted years ago

with Fleetwood Mac, her group,

and they passed on LL Cool J, and Russell's saying

it's because they're too segregated

at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

We don't know who these people are.

LL has been nominated five times.

I don't know who the academy is,

but they're a mixture of, they say, of historians,

both like with basic history and then musical history.

I don't know how far they go back.

I don't know.

All I know is that there's somebody in there called

Roxy Music.

I don't know who Roxy Music is.

They were inducted.

Well, Roxy Music, you know what?

(laughs)

You can wait until next year.

I think that LL Cool J needs this.

Kids know him from NCIS.

LL Cool J hasn't made any recent music

nor do I feel as though he ever needs to.

His music helped define Def Jam Records.

(cheers and clapping)

And definitely ...

And definitely helped define hip-hop,

and LL Cool J is still relevant,

unlike a lot of people on Def Jam.

I just, and he's got that beautiful family.

Like he's everything.

Yes! (clapping)

Yeah.

And of course, Janet deserved it,

on account of Justin Timberlake and the nipple slip,

and so she got it.

I don't know whether she's happy with that.

I don't know whether that may matter to her or not.

Did we see any of the footage?

Was she happy?

No, but I know that she might've been

like campaigning a little bit to get in it

Oh. So, yeah.

Oh. I think she's really happy.

Oh, good. Yeah.

Good. Good.

Well, LL, there's always next year, and doggonit,

we're gonna campaign here.

(clapping and cheering)

Did you hear about this pastor, John Gray?

Well apparently, he's under fire.

So he's got a church in South Carolina.

Well here we go with the church.

Ugh.

Look at his congregation.

Okay? Okay?

He also has a reality show on OWN,

and he bought his wife, recently,

a $200,000 Lamborghini SUV for their

eighth wedding anniversary.

Now, they had a celebration of renewing their vows

or whatever they were doing, the anniversary at their home,

and this is Tyrese taking the footage.

The pastor didn't take it, but the pastor probably said,

"Tyrese, take the footage."

(laughs)

People are accusing him of using church funds

to buy the car.

Wow! (applause)

Well, you know, on one hand,

you could definitely say that,

and it could definitely look that way,

but on the other hand, like all right,

he clapped back, and then we'll talk.

What should concern people who are

actually genuinely concerned is,

"Did this man use any money from the church

to do this?"

and the answer is no, absolutely not,

and God take my life on this live feed if I did.

Oh! (clapping)

Well, first of all, that last line was not necessary

'cause there are certain things

that nobody believes anymore.

"I swear on my kids!"

(laughs)

"I swear to God!"

"I swear on my mother!"

(laughs)

"God take my life on this live feed!"

Okay, so he said that he paid for the car

with money that he made from his reality show and two bucks.

I mean, he's very successful.

It's not wrong for the, if the church is upset though.

It's just a bad look.

I'm sorry.

It's not like, it's not like he's in a swingin' town.

He's in the Carolinas, the town I'm sure,

tons of people there, but ya kinda

have to maneuver amongst the people, and ...

(clapping)

You know, he coulda gotten her a nice, sensible car,

something sensible, not a sports car

'cause she's still going out and getting her nails done

and going grocery shopping.

You can't tell me that she doesn't go out

amongst the people, and you just,

and she's got the kids, and you got the kids and

you're big-timing everybody.

Like, nobody's driving like you all down there.

You know?

And whereas Joel Osteen, well they own everything

where they live, and, but there are more fabulous people

there as well, so it's not, oh.

There will always be people to support big churches.

There are people who need help.

They go to church every day or once on Sunday

and on Wednesday.

Do you know anybody like this? Clap.

(clapping)

Yeah. Yeah.

Well, good luck, pastor.

(clapping)

Meghan Markle's father is upset.

Oh!

(laughs) So he goes on Good Morning Britain,

and he said that he hasn't heard from his daughter,

and he won't stop trying to reach out to her.

Here he is.

People are saying I should be quiet about this

and not speak.

If I don't speak, they'll be speaking,

they will speak to me.

That hasn't happened.

I don't plan to be silent for the rest of my life.

I love my daughter very much, and

she has to know that, and I would really appreciate if

she could just call me, reach out somehow to me,

just send me a text.

Aw.

I just wish Meghan would call him or text him

and say this, "Dad, give me two years

to settle into my new position.

This is me for the rest of my life,

but if you just give me two solid,"

like say something.

I mean, and yes, the baby is on the way,

she's about to have the baby, but,

"Give me two years including the birth of the baby.

Just give me two years, dad," and-

(clapping)

Yeah.

And, you know, the guy, the guy really has straightened up.

You know, he's obviously practicing how to speak well,

because, well-

(laughs)

He was not a well speaker in the beginning.

He was not a well speaker, and he's not a bad looking man.

Well, you know what though?

He missed his moment when he didn't go to the wedding.

Remember, the day of the wedding, he had a heart attack,

a "heart attack", I'm using quotes,

but was invited though.

She invited him, and then the day after the wedding,

he was seen at, excuse me, the day after the heart attack,

the day of the wedding, he was seen at KFC and McDonald's.

Oh!

And McDonald's.

(laughing)

First of all, when you have a heart attack,

don't you have more time to spend in the hospital?

Like is it a 24-hour thing?

No.

All right, well look, Meghan's father,

you did mess up with that one.

You should've gone to the wedding.

You might've gotten cold feet

'cause you were scared of all the cameras and stuff,

but that was your chance, and you missed it, unfortunately,

but hopefully, she'll get in contact with him.

(clapping)

All right, a little louder!

(clapping and cheering)

We've got more great show for you, everybody.

Up next, my friend, fitness guru and author,

Jillian Michaels is here, so grab a snack and come on back.

(clapping and cheering)

End of Year Energy Update, a NEW YOU is on it's way! - Duration: 14:27.

- This energy update is for the end

of the year, through the holiday seasons.

I'm picking three cards to see

what spirit wants to tell us about closing

out this new year, navigating these holiday energies,

and yeah, we'll just see what comes up in the cards.

(calming music)

(heart beating)

I'm Linda Armstrong, for those who don't know me.

This is my channel, and what I do

here is talk about all things related

to energy healing, and spiritual awakening,

and really tapping into the high vibration,

that energy which I like to refer to as love,

to assist you in manifesting all that you want

and really creating a life that you love.

So what I did today, I picked a couple

of cards with the intention of what does spirit want

us to know at the end of this year,

during this holiday season?

And I've got three cards

that might shed some light on some of this for us.

It is a time, really, of, there's a high vibration energy

all around during these holiday seasons.

People are able to get themselves

more in that energy of love, and giving,

and joy, and peace, and harmony,

so it's a great time to just catch the wave

of those energies all around you.

Yeah, maybe (stammers).

Lemme do the cards, because there's a lot coming through,

and I wanna see what the cards say first.

So this first card is a hidden gift.

So let's see if we can get it,

get a good message on that, the hidden gift.

There we go.

Yep, that circle light in there.

Okay, and so lemme read this right

from the book for you, and then we'll see

how that might speak to everything that's going on.

So the angel featured on this card reflects the sadness

that you feel at present, or may experience some time

in the coming weeks.

Something you cherish has, or may come

to, an end or end soon.

It is human nature to fear change

and be saddened when something

we love or are emotionally attached to ends.

However, this card has a positive side,

and reminds you that every ending heralds a new beginning.

This is simply the law of nature.

Nothing is truly ever lost.

Things simply transform.

New beginnings are in store for you,

brighter and lighter than ever.

There's a hidden gift attached to this event.

When the timing is right, you'll receive a precious gift,

either in the form of positive news,

a new revelation, or an unexpected turn

of events, that turns out to be in your favor.

Whatever it is, it will all turn out.

Without a doubt, it'll warm

your heart and fill you with joy.

In the meantime, be aware of the love that surrounds you.

Allow it into your heart

and trust the universe's guiding events

to unfold in a way that is for your highest good.

Wow, that could speak to so many things,

and really, to picking up on that energy

of love that is really high in the collective, right now,

and there's something new, or something ending.

To be able to just let it go, and

not to worry about it, to find

this trust, this peace, and this love

within you that supports you into knowing

there is something new coming,

and really, there is something new coming.

There's so much involving going on with energy,

so many people, at least people

I've been working with, and coming

across with, are really letting go

of old stories, old programs that don't serve them,

old jobs, old relationships that aren't serving them,

and really stepping into something new,

which can be quite scary.

So there's a lot of that going on,

and I think this card is just pretty much speaking

to you to kinda go with that and be with that.

Allow yourself to let these other,

I think, also, what's coming in, is forgiveness.

(stutters) Wow, there's so much coming

in, I can't even speak that fast.

In relationships, either forgiving

someone, something they might have done to you,

forgiving yourself for something

you've either done to yourself

or to others, forgiving yourself

for maybe staying in a certain situation,

or way of being, for longer than you knew you should have.

So it's really all about endings and beginnings,

and really what's gonna support you.

It's a good time for this.

Well, it's kinda nice the way all

of these come around at the end of the year.

And you got this new year birth thing

where we can actually really let go

of old stuff that doesn't support you,

or maybe old ways of thinking and being

that you thought were for your highest good,

but now you're feeling something else,

you're being drawn to something else.

So yeah, so it's like the hidden gift.

Actually, what sums it up

in the card is, sadness, and ending.

A new beginning.

So you could feel that kinda sadness

or that melancholy, or maybe you don't

quite see the big picture why something has to end,

and that kinda is heavy on your heart.

We just wanna try and get into

that place of surrender, and trust,

and connection, to God-guides and angels,

to support you, and really inspire you

as to what your next steps are,

to really be open to allow that in.

Okay, so that's the way, at least,

I'm interpreting that card.

The second card that I pulled is pig spirit.

Now this is the Animal Spirit Oracle

from Colette Baron-Reid.

Anyway, so it's pig spirit.

It was in the upside-down position.

Where can we see it?

But this is how it looks in the right-side-up position.

Pig spirit.

So on the card, it tells you, use your mind wisely.

Okay.

Let's see what she has to say about that.

Okay, what does the pig want us to know?

It says, are you ruminating, turning thoughts

around and around in your head,

not getting nearer to a decision or solution?

That could kinda really go along with that first card.

Pig spirit is here to protect you from analysis paralysis.

Let your mind rest now, and allow

your intelligence to mingle with the mysteries

of intuitive guidance.

Of course, perfect.

Releasing your tight hold on the facts

and the unsolved puzzles, whether

it be a relationship, or any other aspect of your life.

In fact, now might be a good time

to think about something else altogether,

and release your grip on needing to know,

or needing to know how, and that's

really opening, and allowing that intervention,

that inspiration, divine inspiration

to come through, and to guide you,

without getting caught up in that mind chatter,

and that analysis paralysis.

So it says when your thought process is muddled

by fear and anxiety, allow pig spirit

to lead you back to the right use

of your natural intelligence.

Take a break, relax, and release that ball of worry.

Soon, the smart choices will become clear,

more facts may be needed, more digging

for information and more questioning.

When seeking to learn more, enjoy the process

of using your thinking prowess.

So it's kind of like getting,

let's do it from a lighter side,

a lighter energy, of gathering information,

more from this higher vibration

than that constant turning your head

around over and over with the same information,

and it winds up building a bigger story

than it ever was to begin with,

'cause that reactive mind gets in there.

So all of the elements of your intelligence are

reliably guiding you now, once again,

once, I'm sorry, once you've given your mind a rest.

So yeah, so it's like pulling back,

and looking at things with new eyes, basically,

allowing yourself to release.

And it could have to do with some

of the energies that could be what's turning

around in your head, could have

to do with releasing some situations,

or even people, or events, from your system.

Maybe even stepping into that energy of forgiveness,

and this is really a great time of year,

when we're in that holiday mode,

so that you can release all this.

End of the year, I was starting a new year,

let's let go of some, you don't need to hold onto it.

Really make your connection to spirit,

to guide you, to feel the inspiration,

to have the right information come

to you at the right times.

Really, when we can just let go,

and just breathe, like breathing new life

into maybe an old situation, to

where you can see how it can turn,

and blossom into something new.

Hence the new year.

All right, so I don't know.

Let's see what the angels wanna say next.

And the card that was picked was fresh air.

Okay.

So let's see how this plays into the whole entire thing.

So for fresh air, the card is reading,

your body needs refreshment from oxygenated air generated

by grass, trees, plants, and flowers.

Spend time outside today, or as near

to mother nature's cradle as possible.

Open your curtains and windows

to refresh your home, as well.

Just letting that fresh air in, sunlight in, going out.

Really, you can go out in nature

and just totally ground, and flip

your energy, just by being out there,

just by touching a plant, a tree,

and I talk about this a lot in my videos.

Anyway, it says the angels sent

you this card because you need some fresh air.

It could be fresh air into an old situation.

Maybe it's, fresh air could also be a new way of thinking.

So it says you've been indoors,

too far, too long, and your body and soul crave oxygen.

Open the windows in your home, your office, to air them out.

Go outside, yourself.

Breathe deeply.

If you live in the city, make an escape

to the country as soon as possible

to breathe some much-needed fresh air.

Keep plenty of live plants in your home

and office to ensure a steady circulation of oxygen.

Well, that's really always very key, and very good to do.

So anyway, I have some meanings.

So it says exercise outdoors, get some sunshine,

or travel to a sunny environment.

Spend time around trees, animals, plants.

Reconnect with nature.

Then, the last one, which I think is the

most important to this reading is,

bring some fresh air into a stale situation or relationship.

So I think that's kinda like the angel's way

of saying, yeah, to exactly what

those other two cards were saying.

It's time to start anew.

It's time to allow yourself to

actually step into this new way of being.

I feel it in my throat right away,

to really express yourself, maybe, in a new way,

that it's okay to leave something

behind, and to switch course.

Sometimes people get locked up

in that mental chatter, that tells

them that they shouldn't do something.

That's a word I don't like, shouldn't, shouldn't.

It's a very heavy word.

So why don't we just get really let

ourselves get lost in, even if you feel you're so busy.

Take a break from all of that.

Just really unwind.

Let yourself feel the energy that is all around,

even if you just sit quietly, and

you just imagine all of the families getting

together this time of year, all the high energy,

people doing, giving so much more from their heart,

wanting to give gifts, to make someone else feel happy.

It's just really a fun, high vibrational energy time,

and it's always perfect that it ends

at the year, so that now you can step

into this whole new way of being.

So what is it you wanna do for this next year?

Maybe that's how I'll leave you with this reading today.

Think about what it is that you wanna do in this next year.

Where do you wanna be a year from now?

And then give yourself permission

to actually do it, some way.

Just even taking, maybe, baby steps.

Even if you start to get caught up

in that mental chatter, running around

and around on how you can do something,

or how something ought to be, give it all a rest.

So when that starts happening, yeah,

go outside, get that fresh air,

so that you can actually put new energy

into either a stale situation,

old situation, something you're releasing,

so that you can move forward with this bright, new energy.

So I kind of feel like I'm repeating myself a bit.

I think these cards pretty much said

it all, so I'll leave you with that.

If you like what I share on my channel,

please subscribe, like, comment.

I love to get comments down below, and of course, share.

So I guess I'll see you on another video.
