and I've made some videos about Eugenia cooney lately but there's a much bigger

problem and it comes to YouTube ads and marketing as a whole what is up

everybody this is Chris from the rewired soul where we talk about the problem but

focus on the solution and if you're new to my channel my channel is all about

mental health what I like to do is pull different topics from the YouTube

community they're trying to teach you how to improve your mental and emotional

well-being but part of what I do too is try to be an advocate for mental health

and increase awareness and there's some messed-up stuff going on when it comes

to marketing to people who have different types of mental illnesses and

just kind of advertising as a whole but anyways you're into improving your

mental health make sure you subscribe and bring that notification battle

before I jump into that topic also I just got the urge to send out an email

blast this morning so if you are online mental health motivation email list go

check it out I made a video about another video I made an email about

embracing your struggle because especially after I made that video about

spill the other day a lot of people can relate to what I was saying we're like

we wish we had it as easy as other people but in this email I talked about

how your struggle is actually a really good thing and it pretty much makes you

awesome and very resilient so anyways I will link that email down below if you

want to check it out and if you want to sign up for the email list I just sent

emails try to give it give your day a little jumpstart in the right direction

all right anyways so yeah what what's going on with this video what am i doing

what am I talking about today so I made a couple of videos about Eugenia Cooney

and raising awareness and I was getting I was getting some comments

about the ads on my video and I'm like okay like nobody comments about ads on

my video like what are you talking about asking and people were telling me that

like some of these places that sell like some of you know the flat tummy tees or

those suckers are advertising on my videos about Eugenia Cooney and that is

mess okay so let me talk to you guys for a

minute let me talk to you all for a minute okay just about how like YouTube

ad works and how like the YouTube algorithm works so when I make a video I

touched on this a little bit before and all of you creators out there take notes

you put as much information in the title description is tags so YouTube knows who

to send your videos out to right so in my videos if you look in the tags you

know I have things like you know Eugenia cootie eating disorders whatever just

mental illness type stuff youtuber type stuff well from the advertiser angle

right they can target who they want to market to and that is so sick and

disgusting and twisted that it blows my mind so this means this means that these

companies that are promoting this like weight loss flat tummy T or the suckers

or whatever other products they are specifically telling YouTube we want to

target people who have eating disorders we want to target people who like

channels like Eugenia Cooney think about that for a second that is

messed up this is something I've wanted to talk about for a long time so on

Instagram the out of the way that algorithm works is that you use hashtags

right so hashtags that so people can find what you're talking about different

categories well I have different saved documents for different hashtag list

that I've made some one for depression someone from an anxiety someone for

relationships some are motivational but one of them that I have is for sobriety

okay sobriety is one of them so some of them

some of them like I post about like hey staying sober like you know here here's

some motivation to stay sober there are alcohol and drug companies out

there that are looking for posts that use hashtags like sober and sobriety so

they can market to drug addicts and alcoholics like it's and I'm the only

one seeing a problem with this like what is happening what type of person thinks

it's okay it to be like hey you know I know you're struggling with your

alcoholism but let me tell you about this tequila that I got over here like

that's nuts and this is something I've had issue with for a long time even

before I got into YouTube and Instagram and stuff so as somebody in recovery

like stays sober is difficult more people are dying from addiction than

pretty much any other preventable cause of death out there right and there are

bars out there for example who will give you free drinks if you turn in one of

your AAA coins but think about that like I get it I get that it's like kind of

like quirky and a joke and stuff like that boy can you imagine you imagine a

guy or a woman who has destroyed their family because of their alcoholism right

their spouse is about to leave them their kids won't talk to them they're

about to lose their job whatever it is they get sober they get sober for maybe

two months maybe three months things are starting to get better for them things

are starting to look a little bit brighter in their lives so one day

they're struggling right one day they get a little stressed out and there's a

bar right down the street that will take your coin and give you free drinks so

the bar they think that's a funny little marketing campaign you don't need to

stay sober no big deal this person relapses at that bar turns in their a a

chip and now they lose their wife they lose their kids they lose their job they

lose everything that they've worked hard for these last 90 days like is this

making sense to you like this is just one of those issues that you know we

face as a society where a lot of these places just see us as numbers and not as

people that's one of the reasons I try to stay so connected to all of you in

the comments section like I never want to forget that each one of you is a

human being each one of you has family it's one of us friends each one of you

has children each one of you has a light and this pursuit of happiness like we

can't just do stuff like this and I wanted to make this video to increase

awareness but the other topic that I want to talk about is just marketing as

a whole so I know both men and women struggle with body image issues but this

is a big problem with women in general like so after

really ignorant and silly but I've told some other people about this but after I

did some of my Eugenia Cooney videos and I said I was reading all the comments I

was totally ignorant to the fact the eating disorders were such a huge

problem like why are we not talking about this I put a poll up on my

community page just asking how many people are in recovery from an eating

disorder and how many people are currently in the midst of an eating

disorder there were thousands upon thousands of votes and every vote means

that somebody is either currently in the midst of it or is recovering from it and

that blew my mind I'm like oh my god and so what is what is the reason for this

so there's I'm not going to do a whole video right now about the cause of

eating disorders but I do want to talk about the problem of marketing right now

okay so something that I'm always trying to teach all of you is to check you

check your value system right I talked about these youtubers who need to check

in with their values but there's a lot of them think like oh once I get this

many subscribers I'll be happy or you might be like oh well take it this job

then I'll be happy once I get this relationship then I'll be happy once I

get this amount of money then I'll be happy right well a lot of this also has

to do with body image and something that's been kind of in the news recently

I know Philip DeFranco talked about it was that there are a bunch of

celebrities endorsing these products like flat tummy teas and these suckers

and it's all over Instagram it's all over Instagram so one of the best things

that I ever heard that I'm gonna tell all of you and I want you to remember

this like write it down put it on your mirror do something like just remember

this in your brain the worst advertisement ever would be one that

told you that you were perfect the worst advertisement ever would be one that

said you're fine just the way that you are the worst advertisement ever would

say you don't need anything to make people like you more right because then

why would you buy it advertisements are designed to make you

feel bad about yourself that's what they do

because if there's nothing for you to fix why would you buy anything okay like

this is an issue and we need to be aware of that so when you see all these like

Instagram models or celeb whoever it is telling you like oh use

this product use this product you look like me and then you could be happy like

you guys do you know how many people with the quote-unquote perfect body are

freakin miserable I do understand that like remember like well I made a video

about body positivity like a while ago before my channel started getting bigger

like I you know always weight loss journey and stuff like that but

something I realize is that only losing the weight not working on this is not

gonna help it's not gonna solve my problems but it's like they set you up

with these false expectations - so this is an insane this is an insane

absolutist and I would do some research before I recorded this video my name is

Stephanie Soo aka MisMangoButt and today we are back with another skinny mint gummies so this is

the first one it's supposed to make your body burn fat

this one is helped curb your appetite you know when you want like the midnight

- I have obviously been loving and been using key that is Stephanie Soo aka MissMangoButt

whatever mukbang youtuber where she sucks her face on camera that's a whole different

thing that maybe I'll talk about at some other point anyways she is like a twig

and she's endorsing he's like weight-loss gummies like what what you

guys okay alright so like remember how earlier I was talking about how like in

my email how embrace your struggle and stuff like I always thought it wasn't

fair like I've been a bigger dude my entire life but my best friend my best

friend in the world who I grew up with he is like five times more than I do and

he has the body of a Greek god okay some people were just blessed with amazing

genetics and amazing metabolism so I don't like when somebody like Stephanie

sue is like saying hey you can board your face eat 10,000 calories a day and

you can look like this no you cannot okay

you cannot and we need this is one of the reasons why I promote people like

learning about science and stuff because you need to realize that that is a false

expectation okay but the last thing I want to touch on is this please read

that email that I sent out because it ties perfectly into this conversation

that we're having okay embrace your struggle embrace your struggle okay go

to the gym eat healthier meal plan do all these things that I'm trying to do

myself because at the end of the day you will feel so much better about what you

did taking shortcuts does not give me that

same sense of accomplishment and often with any short clip in life there are

drawbacks to it and when it comes to these it's the fact that they're

unhealthy for you okay when you're taking these weight loss T's and all

these other things or appetite suppressants whatever it is okay so

please remember that please remember again the worst advertisements on earth

would be ones that are trying to make you feel good about yourself

advertisements are designed to make you feel terrible alright anyways I would

love to hear from all of you down in the comments below like have you seen

advertisements pop up like for for things that are supposed to be against

something right like for example I'll throw this out there like earlier this

year there was a big hubbub about LGBTQ youtubers having anti LGBTQ ads on their

videos like that's messed up anyways let's have a conversation down below

Hello YouTube family.

Thank you so much for joining me.

My name is Shanet Dennis and welcome to my very first YouTube video.

I'm so glad you stopped by.

So lets get this thing or this show on the road!

I joined YouTube about nine years ago right around the time when the natural hair community

was just underway, or the natural hair movement was kind of just underway.

And you know...like everybody else I got going, did the big chop, was doing all that stuff

and I wanted to document my own journey, but I was afraid to post that very first video.

You know how it is, just fear kind of overtook me and I didn't do it.

But here I am nine years later and kicking fear in the rear end.

So, yea.

I'm glad you're here.

A little bit about me.

I am a mother.

I'm a wife.

I'm a therapist, and I am a creative.

I'm an author.

So all of these things which will kind of unfold and I'll share more with you over

time as you stick around, which I hope you do.

I have a lot in store for you.

Let see...I recently moved to New York about three months ago.

Has it been three months?

Let's see...about four months.

Four months ago—we came in August.

So, August, September, October November, Dec..AUGUST!

Okay?

We got here in August, and it has been quite the change.

So you guys will get to kind of hear more about that.

You'll get a lot of New York videos, and you'll kind of see me adjust over time and

over the course of this YouTube journey.

It really really interesting to live in this tiny place.

I have two college age kids and when they come home...it gonna be a sight to see.

So, I'm going to share some of that with you all and it's gonna be fun!

Some of the things that I'm going to be doing on this channel is a lot of self care

journeys and when I say self care it kind of encompasses a lot of things like emotional

well-being and psychological well-being.

So, it going to be a lot of different things in that genre.

We'll talk about love and relationships.

Healthy relationships, unhealthy relationships, including the relationship with oneself.

So we're going to get into this thing.

I'm so happy you're here.

I look forward to getting to know you all and interacting with you all.

I know that right now I have about 11 subscribers.

Those subscribers I have gained over the course of these last nine years, and I am so glad

you stuck around.

Top 5 Scariest Lovecraftian Horror Movies - Duration: 9:05.

Hello horror fans - and welcome back to the scariest channel on YouTube - Top 5 Scary

Videos, that abominabil place where time and space cease to exist - as we creep our way

through the most terrifying corners of horror fandom.

What's going on guys - as always, I'll be your human sacrifice Jack Finch - as we

once again step into the realm of the godfather of cosmic horror himself - Howard Phillips

Lovecraft, and take a look at the most terrifying modern interpretations of his work - in the

Top 5 Scariest Lovecraftian Movies.

Roll the clip.

Cosmic horror - as a subgenre, is a little hit and miss when it comes to the silver screen

- but when it hits - oh boy does it hit.

There's nothing more skin-crawling-ly horrifying than a grotesque, unknown ancient lifeform

that descends from the stars to wreck havoc against a bunch of defenceless and unassuming

bunch of humans.

One of my favourite horror movies of all time is John Carpenter's The Thing - which is a

blatant love letter to the styles and themes of Lovecraft - and it would usually make the

top of any list I ever make - but - for the sake of keeping things fresh - let's take

a look at my breakdown for the best Lovecraft horror interpretations out there.

Before we do that though - you know how it is guys, if you're a fan of this video,

H.P Lovecraft or just Top 5 Scary Videos in general - then please - be a dear and hit

Kicking off at Number 5 - Banshee Chapter, 2013.

And as far as modern horror goes - this one actually stood out in an era of pretty mediocre

horror movies.

Not only that - but it also managed to pull off found footage horror in a highly original

way - while also sticking true to Lovecraft's themes.

Banshee Chapter - released in 2013 and directed by Blair Erickson - is loosely based on the

H.P Lovecraft short story, From Beyond - and also, the 1986 movie adaptation - which may

or may not be on this list.

Banshee Chapter pretty much has everything you want when it comes to sci-fi horror - mind-altering

narcotics, shadowy alien entities - mysterious numbers stations broadcasting from the desert.

It's jam packed with cosmic horror goodness and it also manages to convincingly portray

Lovecraft's original short story - which explores the fear of interdimensional reality,

and the terrifying thought of what amorphous anomalies lurk in a different plane of existence.

If M.K Ultra and shadowy government organisations peak your interest - then Banshee Chapter

will be the exact dose of mind-altering substance that you need - give it a watch, Lovecraft

would be proud.

Coming in at Number 4 - From Beyond, 1986.

See - I told you it may or may not be on this list.

Which it is.

And I kind of had to put these guys back to back because essentially - they're the same

film in terms of plot.

But From Beyond is absolutely terrifyingly awesome - especially if you're a fan of

quintessential 80's splatter horror - because some of the visual effects in this film are

absolutely insane.

It comes from director Stuart Gordon - a Lovecraft fan like no other - who directed an earlier

B-Movie masterpiece called Castle Freak - and would later go on to direct 2001's Dagon

- as well as a TV interpretation of Dreams In The Witch House.

This guy understood H.P Lovecraft in a time when horror cinema was trying it's utmost

to shock and gross us out.

From Beyond tells the story of a bunch of scientists who are trying to replicate the

human pineal gland - the part of the brain responsible for sleep and our perception of

reality.

Well, of course, this is a Lovecraft story - and like with Banshee Chapter - this film

explores the idea of cosmic horror lurking within the realms of transdimensional reality.

To be honest, I wouldn't recommend this movie primarily for it's pastiche to Lovecraft's

skill in crafting a story - because there's not much to it really - but if you're a

fan of grotesque, classic 80's gore - this one's for you.

It's awesome.

Next up at Number 3 - Event Horizon, 1997.

If you haven't seen Event Horizon - stop what you're doing right now and go and watch

it.

Yeah, granted - I understand, this film isn't a direct interpretation of Lovecraft's work

- like the rest of this list are - but Lovecraft himself birthed the idea of cosmic horror

- and Event Horizon is cosmically horrifying.

Yeah, it's trashy in parts - yeah some of the plot doesn't make any sense - but it's

a feast for the eyes and the mind - and it's up there holding its own with some of the

greats in science fiction horror.

It was an absolute flop at the box office - and it was torn to shreds by critics - but

like with the best cult films, Event Horizon managed to cling on to the fringes of fandom

- and find its rightful place as a visual memorial to Lovecraft's work.

It's got a stellar cast, Laurence Fishburne, Sam Neill, Jason Isaacs - and right from the

off it proves to be genuinely terrifying - capturing that bleak isolation that Lovecraft is so

renowned for.

Trust me, give it a watch.

Swinging in at Number 2 - Black Mountain Side, 2014.

And this film is really up there as one of the best of the best in recent Canadian horror

cinema - right alongside the likes of Pontypool and Hobo With A Shotgun.

Black Mountain Side is really, really good - maybe because it draws so heavily on John

Carpenter's The Thing, yet manages to do so by weaving an entirely original spin on

Lovecraft's work.

This film is loosely based on At The Mountains of Madness, written in 1931 - that also happens

to be my favourite Lovecraft story of all time.

Hey, I've got a thing for the arctic - what can I say.

It centers on a team of archaeologists that discover an ancient structure buried deep

beneath the ice - and, just as it happens in Lovecraft's tale - as you can guess,

things start to quickly go badly.

This film is equal parts gorgeous and equal parts terrifying - and it also managed to

pick up both Best Feature and Best Screenplay at the HP Lovecraft Film Festival.

If you're looking to burrow yourself deep into the visual realm of Lovecraft's work

and existentially contemplate the futile nature of the universe - then this film is for you.

And finally - at our Number 1 spot - Re-Animator, 1985.

And of course - it just has to be perhaps the most notorious interpretation of Lovecraft's

work to date - from the esteemed director Stuart Gordon - who also made From Beyond,

which made the 4th spot on this list.

It's based on Lovecraft's 1922 short story - Herbert West--Reanimator, but originally

was picked up by Gordon because he had the desire to make a Frankenstein film - which

essentially, is exactly what it is.

If I've got one fact to sell this movie to you - it's that special effects expert

John Naulin said that before this film, he'd never used more than two gallons of blood

per picture.

For Re-Animator, he used 24 gallons.

H.P Lovecraft aside - this film really is a hallmark in horror cinema, and it's a

must see as far as I'm concerned.

For fans of Lovecraft though - it's got all the expected hotspots - centering on Arkham's

Miskatonic University.

It tells the story of Herbert West, a medical student who discovers the power to reanimate

the dead.

But - like we quickly learn as Lovecraftian Horror fans - things quickly go awry.

Re-Animator is all the best parts of splatter horror - an incredible display of visual effects

- and also, strangely enough - absolutely hilarious in parts.

Give it a watch - you won't be disappointed.

Thanks to CCTV and security cameras, we have captured people doing some pretty strange

and phenomenal things.

I think we might need to call Noah Bennett from Heroes because we might just have some

real-life superheroes on Earth.

With that said, let's fly right into this list of the top 10 people with superpowers

caught on tape.

Starting this list off in at number 10 we have the real-life hulk minus the huge muscles

and green skin.

A security camera captured two people approach a man who was physically abusing his girlfriend.

At first the two strangers were yelling at him to stop but once the guy confronted him,

a full out brawl happened.

And I think one of these guys went super Saiyan or he's just freakishly strong.

I'll let you guys be the judge.

Did you guys see how much air and distance he got?

I bet he's a beast at the gym or (deep voice) he's batman.

The flash recorded on CCTV footage rushes into number 9.

Don't blink because you just might miss him.

And this my friends, is why you always look both ways before crossing the street.

Because I don't know about you guys, but there isn't a super fast man lurking in

my neighborhood.

The comment section for this video is blowing up with triggered people.

Some people are arguing that this is totally fake and is super edited while others swear

that something like this has happened to them in real life.

I don't know what side I'm on but all I know is that anything is possible.

So are you team Barry Allen or Team editing?

Next up in at number 8 we have some good ol' fashioned telekinesis.

Now that's impressive.

But I think he is going to have a rude awakening when he goes back to Hogwarts.

He should know better than to perform magic in the muggleworld.

Even if this whole thing was fake, I still really enjoy watching it.

I mean, my superpower would be putting food in my mouth and making it disappear.

Let's move on.

to some teleportation in at number 7.

In the next clip, you are about to see a biker saved by a teleporting person.

Let's take a look at that again, but in slow motion.

Is this real life right now?

No seriously, is this real?

There are actually a lot of reports of people seeing others teleporting and I'm really

hoping this is real because I would never have to be stuck in traffic ever again.

And now in at number 6 we are talking about mind control.

Now this would be a very powerful ability to have.

If I had mind control, we would be the most subscribed channel on YouTube for sure and

I would never have to pay for anything ever again…maybe it's a good thing that I don't

have the ability to control minds…but let's take a look at a girl who needs to attend

the Xavier Institute for higher learning because she definitely needs to get her powers under

control.

If we're not carful, we might have another Carrie White situation on our hands.

From teleportation to some super human strength in at number 5.

I've always believed that we just don't really have any idea how strong we are until

we are in an extremely difficult situation.

Take this next clip for example.

Two men rush over to a helicopter that has just crash landed into a river.

Once they make it to the crash site, they noticed that their friend was trapped underneath

the helicopter underwater.

They tried freeing the man but ultimately, the helicopter had to be moved.

So the guy took a deep breath and attempted to lift this heavy machine off of his friend

who was drowning.

This is honestly so incredible and this guy is truly a hero.

Telekinesis brings us to number 4.

I remember I wanted to be like Matilda when I was a kid.

I thought it was so cool that she could control objects with her mind and get her revenge

Welcome to another Frictional Weekly video.

I say this a lot in the beginning of my videos (mainly because I constantly want to try new

things) BUT, I thought I'd try something new for a video topic.

So today we are going to analyze a simple word.

The word "uncanny".

Well, I'm a sole believer that if you look close enough at anything, you can make an

entire video revolving around it.

So we shall start off this analysis by looking at the definition of the word "uncanny"

on Dictionary.com.

"Definition 1: Having or seeming to have a supernatural or inexplicable basis; beyond

the ordinary or normal; extraordinary: Example 1: uncanny accuracy; an uncanny knack

of foreseeing trouble.

Definition 2: mysterious; arousing superstitious fear or dread; uncomfortably strange:

Example 2: Uncanny sounds filled the house."

Now the interpretation of the word Uncanny is commonly used for something that shares

human qualities, but there is just that slight inhuman characteristic that creates a funny

feeling that you gives you a sense of dread and premonition.

This is known as the "uncanny valley".

A great example of this are video game characters who look impressively realistic and human,

but it's just off by a smidgen that creates of feeling of unsureness.

Your brain can't decide whether this is a fellow human being or something far more

sinister.

Another example are creepy masks that hide a person's face, you can't see who's behind

the mask so you don't know if they're a danger or not.

There is a feeling that is in between safety and danger, between these two feelings there

is a dip where our brains can't decipher if it is a danger or not and that it is why

it is called the "uncanny valley".

It's a valley in between the mountains that are safety and danger.

It is not only human plus inhuman looks that give off this feeling, it can also be associated

with sounds, music, objects and places that aren't relating to humans at all.

An exact copy of your own house, with little things here and there changed, like the bathroom

being switched to the other side of the room, create this UNCANNY

feeling that you've lost your sense of direction, you're going mad or that you are stuck in

some parallel universe.

Just like those dreams you have where you are roaming around your own house and there

is a creepy addition to it, instead of a closet in your bedroom, you open the door to find

a long old wooden staircase leading to a dark basement.

This slight change sends off a sensation of losing control of your surroundings or your

sanity and also a feeling of foreboding dread.

Like "If I can't figure out reality from delusion or have a sense of direction, how

am I to defend myself in a dangerous situation if I'm completely immobilized?"

This lack of understanding the environment around you, gives a sense of vulnerability.

This can be accomplished by using the sounds of instruments, everyday sounds and people

and distorting those sounds in some way.

So in conclusion, uncanny isn't just human characteristics blended in with inhuman characteristics,

it is simply anything familiar, mixed with the unfamiliar.

The uncanny valley is mainly associated with humans because us humans are most familiar

with, well, our own self.

Uncanny is a confusion of being unsure if something is safe or dangerous, because it

is vague and shrouded in mystery.

A combination of familiarity and unfamiliarity.
