Hi I'm Joel and I'm Lia and welcome back to another Q&A
the last video went down
really well so we thought why not do another one yeah so I've changed the
jumper but kept the fluff arms yeah cuz they went down well as well anyone who hasn't
seen the old video I put on a red jumper that was boring and I attached some
white Christmassy - so they've made a comeback made a comeback and after this I promise
you will never see them again, till next year ok so first question is quite a good
question yeah where's the best place to live in the UK? London no um I went to
Arundel the other day with my family for a big Christmas lunch and apparently
my parents said that had been voted the happiest place to live in the UK it is
beautiful and I would actually really love to live there, how do you measure
happiness in an area exactly well richness
basically is massive castle in the middle of this like, town and it's all really
beautiful it looks like the town from Shrek basically and every house had half
of a Christmas tree stapled to it with Christmas lights on you know like a tree
just against the house half the tree yes they saw off half the tree and attach it onto
the house so it looked like half the tree was in the house and half was out the house.
that's amazing every building in the whole town had a tree on
the house that's so cool best place to live in the UK um for me I'd say one of
the pretty suburbs of London yeah but there's some amazing places like North
North London or southwest of London where you can get into town quickly
enough to have your job here but you've got that country life yeah that would
be the ideal that'd be ideal yeah we'll have all that we will one day one day
next question have you planned a visit to France? no well yes she's not making
me with her! so me and my brother are gonna get the Eurostar train
from Kings Cross down to Paris so and then from Paris we're gonna take trains
around Europe we haven't booked any of the trains we've only booked one way so
we're just gonna see what happens see where we end up on New Year's
and speaking of New Years someone has asked best New Year's Eve plans to do in
London? well there's a couple of things yeah and there's a reason lots of
Londoners get out of London for New Year's Eve yeah and that's because it's
crazy expensive yeah it's oversubscribed and like London clubs can be a bit
underwhelming definitely before I lived in London my family came
here and we stayed in a hotel we went on South Bank but the opposite side so
north bank to watch the fireworks but you had to be careful of the wind
because when we were there we saw about 30 seconds of fireworks then all the
smoke from the fireworks blew our way and completely blocked everything so all
we saw was smoke and it was like that was a complete waste of time
so I wouldn't advise going out to watch the fireworks live in person no I'd only
do that if you're like up a building maybe you can go up The Shard maybe and
watch it from there? That'd be great and you have to book that like a year in advance
You kind of have to book anywhere super early because everywheres booked
for New Year's Eve if you want like a sit-down dinner watching the fireworks
with a nice view in London in some sort of like skyline yeah posh building, I think even on the
London Eye you can book a pod yeah you can crazy crazy
yeah but part of me kind of wants to avoid London on New Year's just because
London's had so much horrible stuff happen to it this year and any time when
London's gonna be busy yeah loads of people potential threat scares me so I
so it's got to you, so it's got to me yes got to you... you're scared
you're running away yeah I'm running away from London. So advice for that don't
come to London, but seriously if you do want advice for London New Year's Eve plans then I
would suggest checking out our friends Jess from Love and London
also Christie from Backpacking Bananas they're both really good they know their
stuff they know more about this sort of thing than we do so go check them out
okay so this is a question that we love answering is best restaurant in London?
we just love food it's so hard it's difficult there are too many there are
too many I wish you'd said favourite then give me the genre and I have to pick
from my favorite breakdown of genre one that I went to the other day which I
really liked was a vegan burger restaurant in Brick Lane
called Mooshies, was so good honestly the best burger I've ever had
I'm not even vegan and it was just so delicious I've got to take my brother there that sounds amazing, it's not necessarily my
favourite restaurant in London but it's one of the places that I tend to go to a
lot and the reason we go there is because it's so easy for groups, it's called Vapianos
and everyone who goes through the doors gets given their own card and when you
leave you only pay for what you ordered on your card so it's perfect for when you're
with like eight friends and everyone just hates that moment the bill comes
because you have to figure out who ate what and it can just be really stressful and
British people sometimes don't just like splitting it eight ways because someone
you know I mean yeah it can just be so awkward and it's just a really great
place to get pizza, pasta or salad it's really good fresh food yeah love love
Italian food love Italian food you literally order
your food put your card like there to tap it to put the food onto your card
then they cook it in front of you, they cook it in front of you and then you pay on the
exit, pay on exit so good so great really good love it in America
though they do splitting bills really well I've noticed when I've gone with
my family there'll be massive tables and they'll give a bill to each person like
a receipt to each person and they just do it whereas in the UK like waiters are
like urgh I've got to split the bill I'm like we need to learn from America
so the next one is what are the must go places in London? My favourite place is
South Bank and as well as that my favourite place is the National Theatre
on South Bank it's made up of three theatres loads of shows you can get £15
tickets I really recommend and I think mine must go place in London is
where Joel said his restaurant was Brick Lane because it's really important for
you to see like gritty bits of London coz it's not all like shiny shiny can't stand
anywhere too polished yeah so get yourself down to East London
and check out Shoreditch check out Brick Lane this is a really
cool question someone has asked what do young people in England and London think
about the Royals? yeah so what do we think about the monarchy? personally we
both love the monarchy, love them! I just think they're great I think they're
great for the country and I just think they're really nice people yeah I
absolutely love them I know a few people who don't yeah who are like I don't want to pay my
taxes for a Royal wedding but I am happy to pay my taxes towards the Royal wedding do you
think it's 50/50 I think 50/50, split down the middle you reckon? Well lots of young people nowadays are becoming more
aware of like injustice and like fairness yes so I understand why people are
saying how is it fair that these people are being paid millions and millions
billions of pounds yeah and there's homeless people like I went to Windsor
Castle the other day and it was amazing this huge castle like so many
rooms and outside I saw like three homeless people and it's like how is
that right yeah I know, it's true, but it's just difficult it's difficult because part of you
loves everything they stand for and the tourism they bring to the UK yes what
they do for us and how happy they make do you know what I mean the morale-boosting not just
in the UK but all over the world but then yeah I guess the money thing is
just really sad and I kind of switch off to it a bit because I don't want to believe it
is true yeah so what are some typical English names? is the next question
okay just off the top my head go Bob Wayne Steve Sarah Lesley Jane
Bob Moira not Moira! Mavis, Melissa, hmmm not Lia and not Joel, yeah not our names basically
an English name beginning with J Jim John just like just simple names English
name beginning with Y. Ooooh that's hard, that's difficult, that's too much, why did I do that?
English names beginning with D Derek Dom. Oh, wonder why you thought of that? Oh, oh! That's my boyfriends name. Dominic. Everyone's
gonna go searching for him on Instagram now. No don't coz he's deleted it. and the last question is how do you make
money from being YouTubers we don't get asked this question very much
I'd expect it to happen more but we don't I sometimes get asked at
like a dinner party yeah oh yeah in person when someone's like what do you do?
you're like I make YouTube videos so YouTubers make money from views on their
channel so they get paid through Google Adsense but no one's allowed to say
exactly how much they earn because we have to do sort of like sign something
at the beginning that says you don't talk about this yeah but it's not a lot
it doesn't make up for a lot of your income the other way money is through
advertisements on your channel in terms of brand deals like working with brands
who might sponsor a video yeah brands on other platforms if
you've got Facebook Instagram Twitter you can also collaborate with them there
and recommend products to your followers that are suitable and brands you
actually like so that's a way of making money
yeah and the other way is to sell your own products so obviously lots of
YouTubers you watch have merch we have a patreon page where rather than sort of
selling merchandise we sort of sell like Skype sessions with us so you can just
hang out and be friends yeah so that's kind of a way of making money but it's
nowhere near enough to sort of say we're full time no we've still got our part-time
like day jobs and then part-time YouTube exactly so we're still hashtag relatable
relatable okay guys we hope you've enjoyed this video
and please leave us a comment if you've got any other questions because we love
doing these yeah definitely and I hope you enjoy New Years Eve we both do
oh yeah and New Year's Day as well it's gonna be 2018 can't believe it I can't
believe we've hit 15k every year since we started we always say what do you
want for Christmas 10,000 subscribers we wanna reach that milestone and
then it didn't happen until this year it just all happened really quickly yeah it
suddenly hit ten thousand in about October I think and so now we've hit fifteen
thousand which is insane so thank you to everyone who has subscribed we loved
sort of growing a little community around us I think is absolutely fine to
want more people to watch your videos oh yeah, so we're just like happy to
celebrate that and not be like oh we can't mention numbers
so yeah thanks everyone for your support and we'll see you next time
bye
