hey guys this is guilty spark here with a
special three-part series of my guide to
growing a successful YouTube channel from
zero subscribers to a hundred, and even 200 subs tons of
people are trying to find the answer to
doing this and watch hundreds of how to
gain subscriber videos from other
youtubers and they always say something
false they have to spend three hundred
dollars on video editors, software's, do
sub for sub, apply for shoutouts and
many other ways that don't work there
are many right and wrong ways about growing on
youtube and i will talk more about the
wrong ways later in this three-part
series i'll teach you the truth about
how i got to 200 subscribers before we
start though i'll tell you right now
that this isn't some secret that will work
overnight growing on YouTube takes more
time and work than you can possibly
imagine these videos will teach you how
to grow a channel the right way rather than
the fast but wrong way the three videos
will be on each part of youtube this video
will be on planning to start a YouTube
channel and everything that you need to
do before you make your content part 2 will
be on how to record and edit your
content and part 3 will be on how to
publish it to youtube as well as
manage a youtube channel
even if you have already started a
YouTube channel i recommend you watch
this one as there may be some important
things you missed when you began please
leave a like on this video if it helped you
out and make sure to subscribe for the
other parts in this series as well as other
awesome content i mainly post halo content
so if your into that then you have
another reason to subscribe so without
further ado let's finally get
straight into this firstly before you do
anything you need to ask yourself why do
you want to grow a youtube channel this is
extremely important for motivation and
success in the future and something to
fall back on when you making new videos
my reason for making YouTube channel is
because i like to entertain people and
teach people things that I know and they
might not i'm also making a YouTube
channel because i simply enjoying making
videos for other people to watch
whatever your reason is it should work for you
but there are some reasons that you
don't want to have for making YouTube
channel and they might be the downfall
to it a lot of people want to make money
and this will never work for YouTube
because the amount of work that it takes
to grow a youtube channel in order to make
money will never pay off to how much money
you ever going to make other people want
to be famous or to get X number of
subscribers and that also doesn't work
for the same reason you need to be able
to produce high-quality content without
a high subscribe count or high money
income because if you don't like making
videos
why would you do it when you have fifty a
hundred or a thousand subscribers my goal
a while ago to reach 100 subscribers i
did that and making content still felt
the same and it was even more work than
before then my goal was to get 200
subscribers now i'm at that and making
YouTube content still feels the same
it's just my videos get a few more views
than others but that doesn't change why
I want to make my youtube videos however
big your Youtube channel gets will be a result of
however much work you put into your
channel so if you don't put in a lot of
work to it you're not gonna grow your
channel that high once you determine why
you want to make youtube channel it
should be easy to determine what
your genre and content should be about my
genre is gaming and my content is halo 5
entertainment videos tutorials and
having fun with other subscribers but
don't just pick one that is most popular
right now or will make you the most views
pick a genre that really speaks to you
that your really passionate about and pick
something that your already doing in your daily life
to find your content for specific videos
look for videos on YouTube that surround
your genre and find types of videos to make
that you would like to do
a lot of people start there channel by
just making gameplay videos of their
favorite video game and this is ok to
start with for a while but it can't
build a channel YouTube is so
oversaturated with gameplay videos of
different video games that your video
just will never get found on YouTube
very fast you have to make you content
original and different from everyone
elses this is really hard to do
because there's so many content creators
and just content in general on youtube
already to make something original make
it your own do it in a way that most
other people wouldn't do or thats
original to you make it unique as possible
and add your own spin to everything a
way to understand YouTube's kind of
search engine
is to think about it this way if your in
the Olympics and they were lets say a
million other people trying to win gold
medals there are 500,000 track runners
4,000 swimmers and a hundred thousand
volleyball players if you try to do track
and field you're probably not going to
get noticed and are not going to win
because there are so many other people
doing that sport that theres likely someone
better doing it better than you if you
try something like volleyball you have
less competition and therefore better
chances to win so making the original
content works the same way and it sort
of puts you at the same level as
everyone else making content some people
see big YouTubers doing specific
types of videos and they try to copy
that but doing that it basically just
makes people have no reason to go to
your channel because if someone else's
doing some big youtubers making the same
video as you there obviously
gonna have better equipment better
editing video better commentary better
everything and why would anyone watch
your content if they can watch it from a
better youtuber so you have to make your
content original that no one else is
doing so that other people have a reason to
watch it the next part we're going to
get to is choosing your channel name
choosing your channel name is very
important for identity and i'll talk
more about this in another video but
identity is like the key to youtube if
you don't have an identity
you'll never get to that
big youtuber kind of stage your identity is
how people find you it's what people
remember you by
and that really ties in with your
channel name now a tip I I wouldn't
follow my path and choose a name from
your favorite video game character
because you'll just get lost in search
engine results so make it very original
and take a lot of time thinking about
your channel name alot of people just do their
gamertag and this is ok but you don't
want to do a gamertag if it's not very
rememberable now once you've done all
that stuff your genre your content your
channel name
you also have to determine what kind of
audience you're going to reach with your
videos
this may involve some research and time
to find out who wants to watch your
videos for my videos I believe to my
best knowledge that my subscribers and
viewers are the average halo fan who's
looking for some entertainment and to
learn how to do something better with my
Forge content for this type of video
these are people that have YouTube
channels who want to grow their Youtube
channel obviously now that you've kind
of planned out the basis of your
channel its time to actually think about
what specific videos you going to make
very specific now brainstorm a big list
of videos you can make around your topic
and then as you go making videos this will be
super helpful for ideas you
don't want everyone to a point where
your content is when you don't have any
other content to make and your just stuck
at a dead end so brainstorm a big list
of different types of videos to make
this is really helpful for later on when
i first started my youtube channel back
in way back in october i mean i had a
small youtube channel before that but I
wasn't really serious with it until October ish
when halo 5 came out but my list
of videos i made then I still have the
same list i still have a bunch of
stuff I want to do on it and a bunch of stuff I
havent tried yet but like some content you
don't know what content is going to work
so sometimes you have to drop certain
videos and but other ones will sometimes
explode
and you'll just keep making that series get
better and better now we're going to get
into some actual doing instead of just
planning to make youtube videos you need to
have both capturing and editing software
to make usual gameplay really a
stunning video lots of people say to buy
professional equipment from the start
and that it will have a better impact on the
channel but i don't recommend doing this
it's hard to go from having no youtube
channel at all to having to make tons of
content and put tons of times into making your
videos and a lot of people find it
stressful which can make them quit
YouTube buying tons of equipment is
pointless if you don't already know how
to run youtube channel it is also very
confusing to people who are just starting
their YouTube channel to have to also
learn how to use an editor software when
they never have used anything before now
i can pretty much say that I got to 200
subscribers without spending any money
now I did buy a little bit of music
which is completely optional as well as
some subscriptions to services like
onedrive things but all my purchases are
not necessarily at all
most of my youtube content i grew without
using that stuff for capture card i use
the capturing device on my xbox which is
the xbox game DVR I'm sure there's
something similar for playstation users
and there's obviously going to be
something for people who are on pc for
editing i use an editing app on my
phone called splice lots of people think
that you cant edit videos on your phone and
while it may be difficult this splice
app was actually like a super good
editor they recently partnered with
GoPro and the editor is very simple very
powerful and very easy to use and i
really recommend for beginners because
it's a good step into taking on editing
and learning how to edit videos now for
a microphone you can simply use your
iphone mic if you have one because their
microphones are getting better every
time they
release and soon they're gonna be as
good as like professional mics i used my
iphone 6 might for a long time and it it
was it was decent but I was I didn't
have very good commentary anyway so
it didnt really matter when you're deciding
what editing and recording software to
get you really have to make sure that
you know how to upload them from the
start before you buy anything
it's very difficult to learn how to
upload some gameplay from your
xbox to your video editor to youtube and
sometimes they don't always work out
well so you need to have a plan for that
in the beginning now an easy way to do
this is to do everything online you can
use apps like one Drive and Dropbox and
online storage things to upload the
contents and other places it's very easy
once it's on the web to do that with my
xbox i can use simply game
DVR share thing and upload the video to
onedrive and then I get the
onedrive app on my phone and download
the videos to my phone then from my
phone i can upload the edited videos to
youtube if you're using a physical game
capture card make sure it has a 3.5
millimeter headphone jack and hdmi or
USB plugin to export if not make sure to
have another plan to know exactly how to
upload it
another type of equipment you can have
its optional is a thumbnail maker or
photo editor high-quality thumbnails are
very important and useful for growing a
channel because it's what the first
thing that your views look at when they
are attracted to your videos it's
difficult to attract viewers if you don't
have thumbnail generator and
custom thumbnails so i really recommend
starting with one the one i use is
called GIMP and I'm sure a lot of you have
heard about it it's really good it's
really good for making thumbnails
because it's very it's powerful not as
powerful as things like photoshop but it's
simple to use it's very easy to learn
and it's powerful enough to do exactly
what you wanted to do i will leave links
for all the software i use in the
description for you to download after
the video when finding software
to use for thumbnails editing and
everything else you should start with
the simplest stuff you can find once
you've mastered the simple editing and
softwares then you can move up to
more advanced stuff and keep going
forward doing it this way is best
because then everything feels
comfortable and a natural change and
it's not overwhelming in anyway now
that you know everything about how to
make a video you need to learn how to
manage a youtube channel take some time
to explore everything on the creator
studio dashboard and familiarize
yourself with all the settings and
features fix and tweak all of these settings
to make it work for you and your content
also with your new thumbnail generator
create a couple different things firstly
create some channel art this really
grabs your audience's attention when
they first go to your channel and lets them
know that you're serious and
passionate youtube who is dedicated to
producing good content your channel art should
contain things like your profile picture
video content things you do on your
channel as well social media links and
images for people to go to and follow
you on this also brings me to my next
topic about branding branding is a way
of making an image for yourself that
everyone can quickly recognize there are
a few things you need to do this
successfully
you should have a profile image icon or
watermark to put on your videos and
profiles as well as a few bios and
descriptions of different lengths to get
people quick or long understanding of
who you are and what your channel is
about for your profile image you can
just get one off the internet but i
recommend creating your own using the
thumbnail generated try to make your
descriptions lots of meaning and effort
when describing everything about your
channel now we've almost come to the end
of part 1 so i will do a quick recap of
all the steps to starting a channel
firstly why you want to make youtube
channel then determining you content and
genre finding an audience creating a
channel name creating video plans and an
ideas list finding recording software
editing software thumbnail software
learning how to use all those getting
used to the YouTube dashboard settings
creating channel art icons and water marks
and everything for branding as well as
bios and descriptions and with that said
that concludes part one of how to grow a
channel on youtube if you need to refer
back to this video time links will be in
description on the topic please make
sure to check out the other three parts
the series once i upload them by
subscribing to the channel

gameplay to editing tips and uploading
them and part 3 wiil be all about
managing a youtube channel leave a like
