STRUGGLES DURING MY DIETETIC INTERNSHIP - Duration: 6:44.
I didn't fully grasp it ,c hew it up,
swallow it, digest and assimilate it into my being
(MUSIC)
So hi everyone. Welcome back to my channel so today we're going to be
speaking about a few things that I did
not learn during my dietetic internship!
So I don't know if this is true for
every dietitian, but a few dietitians I
have met we also same thing. There are
few things that we did not learn during
our dietetic internship. So let's not
waste any time and get right into it. Let
me just first start by saying this is
not to throw shade at any dietetic
internship at any dietitian. No, that is
that the whole entire point of making
this video, but there are some things
that I feel that you do not actually
learn until you're in the field and what
I mean by learn like yes, it's reviewed,
but you don't fully grasp it. I know for
me the type of learner that I am I'm
someone that needs to see the same thing
over and over and over again so that I
can take it, assimilate it, and it become
a part of me. The first thing that I did not learn
was to actually learn how to listen! Let
me be honest with you when I was doing
my out patient diabetes internship the
dietitian did say to me "Kim you need to
read in between the lines." Silence is not
bad a lot of people you know when you're
speaking, especially someone that you
don't know, you try to fill up the
silence with your speech and that's what
I was trying to do in my outpatient
diabetes education. So I have learned
just to do this (SIT IN SILENCE) and have the client
that I'm dealing with talk and talk. You're
able to pick up certain things as they talk.
Active listening is something
that I did not learn during my dietetic internship.
The second thing and I did not
learn in my internship was actually how
to calculate TPN= total parenteral
nutrition, as well as tube feeds. Now during
that rotation I did have a certified
nutrition
support dietitian. She was as smart as a
whip! I will be like, let's let's give her
a name, I don't want to say her name um
Sue! "Sue so slow down, you're losing me." and
then Sue would be like : "Okay, all right
let's do this again let's take it from
the top Bam Bam Bam Bam." And to be honest
with you, it didn't make sense to me at all!
Because again, I think that rotation was
only 2 weeks and I had to learn TPNs
and tube feedings at the same time. We
had the computer there you just plug in
your numbers and it gave you everything,
but she wanted us to do it (the calculations) by with my hand and
I did not know how to do my hand until I
actually became a dietitian. I didn't
fully grasp it chew it up, swallow it,
digest and assimilate it into my being.
So I didn't understand that clinical.
When I actually started working like "OH!
this is what Sue meant; oh this is easy." I
would pull out my calculator I'm like "oh
ok Bam Bam Bam Bam". Tube feeding rates
going to be 50 and you're going to flush
with 150 ml of water every six hours and
they're going to titrate up by 10
milliliters every six to eight hours for
tolerance until the max goal rate of dadada
that is reached. So I was pretty
confident when I actually started
working and this is something that helped
me my R.D. exam because I actually started
working before I actually took my
R.D. exam I was R.D. eligible. TPNs
the same thing! The doctor would say "Oh Kim
I'm starting a patient on a TPN of
sixty four millimeters
and have fifty percent dextrose and
ten percent aminosyn with twenty
percentages lipids every Monday, Wednesday and
Friday. How many calories and protein does
this provide?" If you had asked me that as
a dietetic intern... I would have been like
"REALLY??", but now I know how to do it by
hand. Third thing that I did not know how
to do his paper chart. 'Kim what do you
mean my paper chart?' During my internship
everything was electronical. All your
charting with computerized. Now where I'm
working we do not have a computer-based
charting system. Everything is done with
your hands and with a pen. Not a blue pen
I use a black pen. When you used to typing and
then when you actually have to take the
pen top off and then search through the
chart and just start writing: CARPAL
TUNNEL. (Laughing) I don't have carpal tunnel, but
I'll be honest with you, there are a few
times I thought I had carpal tunnel
based on how my hand was cramping up. Imagine seeing 20 to 25 patients a day and
you're just documenting, your documenting,
your documenting. I did not know how to
paper chart and also with the whole
entire paper charting this has helped me
to learn how to figure out my TPNs and my
tube feedings by hand. Another thing that I
did not learn, it never dawned on me how
important the interdisciplinary team is.
Having your physical therapist, having
your pharmacist, having your social
worker, having your nurse, having your
doctor and rounding with them on a daily
basis. Patient-centered care how
important that is. We do do that during
my internship and I just thought well
"okay?!" Like it didn't click, this up here
it wasn't clicking until I actually
started working in the field and I
realized how each of us even though
we're different disciplines, how it all
becomes integrated
when you're dealing with a patient. So
guys, these are just a few things that I
did not learn during my dietetic
internship. I actually learned it in the
real world, in the workforce. So thank
you guys for watching any dietitians out
there please tell me below what you did
not learn during your internship what
you actually learned being a registered
and licensed dietitian. For any student
out there, anyone finishing their
internship, anyone planning on going into
the field of nutrition and dietetics, if
you have any questions don't hesitate to
leave them below. As usual remember to
subscribe. Thank you guys for watching

Jim McHugh - Hall of Fame - Duration: 2:30.
The track team was really just a big family.
Brothers and sisters and the coaches are your parents, keeping you in line.
We would travel together, spend close to 40 hours a week together.
The track team was very large.
I think we had about 40 guys and the same amount of women.
We'd travel to meets with 60 or 70 athletes.
We'd bring to a national meet, we brought probably 15 guys and 15 girls.
Yeah, my relationship with Coach Lumberg was really strong.
He recruited me to Hillsdale, but he's a distance coach, cross country coach.
We have a field events coach who was going to be my coach, it's Coach Teft.
He's really the one who was able to mold me into the athlete that I became.
We spent a lot of time together, but there's a lot of trust that has to happen.
I trust what they're doing.
Thank goodness Coach Teft had a lot of experience.
He would give me all the advice that I needed to change my workouts or keep them the same
or change my steps.
It was a great working relationship, because these guys are so easy to get to know, easy
to work with and they just love everyone they work with, as long as you're willing to put
in the work and the time.
The success that I had as a collegiate athlete was coupled with failures as well.
The failures that I had were mostly during the season trying different things, but it
was an experiment that Coach Teft and I and Coach Lundberg were working to figure out,
what was going to be the best to prepare me for the big dance, which is the Nationals.
In my freshman year, I was fifth in the country in the high-jump.
I have eight times as an All American, I feel like I represent the teams of the early '90's.
We had a great string from '91, '92, '93, '94.
We lost the first year of the GLIAC championship, but we never lost after that.
I represent Coach Teft, Coach Lundberg, Coach Martha, and I'm just the guy who gets to get
inducted for the Hall of Fame for them.
I just feel like I'm their representative.

Don't even joke, I did this all Summer long, remember?

And I love him, but...
I know, I know. You dad's path is not for you.
Trust me, I get it.
He works his ass off for me, bro.
Never asks for anything, always has my back, even when I mess up.
So if having his back means I gotta haul some rocks, then bring it on.
Agreed.

Exactly.

Do You Know Why We're Censored Because 'Someone Might Get the Wr - Duration: 5:59.
Do You Know Why We're Censored? Because 'Someone Might Get the Wrong Idea'
Recently, I was a guest on a radio show. At one point, I cited a mainstream journal review
I have mentioned many times the famous 2000 Journal of the American Medical Association
revelation by Dr. Barbara Starfield, which concluded that the US medical system kills
225,000 people a year in the US.
The interviewer asked whether mentioning this could dangerously convince people not to go
to a doctor, when they should see a doctor.
I hadnt heard that gem in a long time.
Maybe you shouldnt talk about this, because it could give people the wrong idea

I said people could get the wrong idea from many statements.
Getting the wrong idea is a chronic condition. It pops up all the time.
If you refrained from saying something because people might get the wrong idea, you could
decide to say nothing. Ever.
There is no limit to what you could say that someone might interpret in his own peculiar
way.
Further, what happened to the idea that you should speak the truth?
I guess thats out. Too dangerous.
Of course, in my radio interview, the host was just playing the devils advocate. He
was presenting the other side. For balance. He knew what he was doing.
Actually, Im glad he made his point. It gave me a chance to talk about people getting
the wrong idea.
These days, there is a wider problem. We didnt get to it on the radio show. People complain
that something you say triggers them. Boom. Their problem becomes your problem.
You uttered the word girl. And that initiated their cascade of reaction. Therefore,
you committed a sin.
Its a form of psychological warfare. You shouldnt say X because X might trigger
somebody. Welcome to the victim culture. Idiots delight.
Heres another angle. Since the education system doesnt teach anyone how to think
logically, you shouldnt speak or write logically. If you did, you would be confusing
and/or offending untold numbers of people. You must cater to them. If you use logic,
youre an elitist.
And how about this? ELIMINATE TEACHING GRAMMAR BECAUSE GRAMMAR IS RACIST. Thats right.
An antiracist poster in a college writing center insists American grammar is
racist and an unjust language structure, [and the writing center is] promising to prioritize
rhetoric over grammatical correctness.
The poster, written by the director, staff, and tutors of the University of Washington,
Tacomas Writing Center, states racism is the normal condition of things, declaring
that it permeates rules, systems, expectations, in courses, school and society.
We promise to emphasize the importance of rhetorical situations [?!] over grammatical
correctness in the production of texts, announces the poster. We promise to challenge
conventional word choices and writing explanations.
Maybe someone can explain why the author of that college proclamation used English grammar
to defame English grammar.
Why didnt the author write, Use grammar bad because why tradition and nobody should.
Much better.
Stop all grammar. It could give people the wrong idea. It could make them think their
own ignorance of the subject reveals a lack of education. They could fall into
a funk and think something is wrong with them. They could be triggered.
Heres a proposal for a university study: seek out and find the one person on the planet
who has the very lowest understanding of logic and grammar, who cant read a word, who
is triggered by the greatest number of utterances.
Political Correctness A Rothschild Invention of Language Control
Find that person, and then recommend everyone on the planet adjust their utterances to please
that one person
So that person wont get the wrong idea.
Then society will improve.
Then we will reach new heights of share and care.
Then we will be humane.
Then we will bow down to that one person.
She/he will become the standard.
She/he will lead us.
She/he will teach us all, in the fullness of time.
Amen.
When that person dies, we can preserve his/her brain and keep it ticking, as a reference
for future generations:
Utter nothing that might give that brain the wrong idea.
Utter nothing that might make that brain think it is inferior or lacking in any way.
Rather, encourage that brain. Pump it full of messages that confirm its god-like status.
Award it trophies. Feed it photos and video showing sprawling centers built in its name.
Then we can feel secure. Then we can feel safe.
No one will get the wrong idea.

BACK FROM HELL! Hillary Clinton Just Said Something HORRIBLE! Trump HATES This! - Duration: 2:16.
BACK FROM HELL! Hillary Clinton Just Said Something HORRIBLE! Trump HATES This!
By Danny Gold
Apparently, some monsters really CANNOT be kept down.
Hillary Clinton herself rose from the fires of Oblivion today for one simple reason: ATTACK
DONALD TRUMP!
She tried to spread the LIE again that President Trump hates women by claiming he wont let
women into the top positions in the White House!
Totally nonsense!
She then targeted Press Secretary Sean Spicer, trying to make him seem like a racist
and woman hater based on more FAKE claims:
April Ryan, a respected journalist with unrivaled integrity, was doing her job just
this afternoon in the White House press room when she was patronized and cut off trying
to ask a question.
Just FYI, Spicer did NOTHING wrong to April.
He tried to simply answer her question and she decided to be an ass about it.
Hillary even took it a step further,
Now too many women, especially women of color, have had a lifetime of practice taking
precisely these kinds of indignities in stride.
But why should we have to?
And any woman who think this couldnt be directed at her is living in a dream world.
See?
She is using lies and false equivalencies to try and stoke a rebellion.
Its time she gets charged for real!
At least she still managed to show her true colors, those of a narcissistic loser, when
she told the crowd,
Theres nowhere Id rather be right now other than the White House.
So pitiful.
Look, in reality, Hillary Clinton is not just a threat to Donald Trump, but to our ENTIRE
country.
Thats why its up to us to EXPOSE her comeback to the world so they can tell
her how we REALLY feel.
NOBODY LIKES YOU HILLARY, AND WE NEVER WILL!
Share if you want to see her put away

Watch Nunes pretend he wasn't in cahoots with the White House - Duration: 1:21.
I will be going to the White House this afternoon to share what I know with the President and
his team.
The administration I don't think is aware of this, so I want to make sure that I go
over there and tell them what I know.
They need to see it.
If they don't have it, they need to see it.
Today I briefed the president on the concerns that I had.
The president needs to know that these intelligence reports are out there and I have a duty to
tell him that.
This is information that was brought to me that I thought the president needed to know,
and I thought it was important for the president to know this, that's why I briefed the speaker
this morning and I came down here as soon as I could.
I think he'd like to see these reports, and hopefully, hopefully when we get them, hopefully
they'll get them to the White House also.
I would be concerned if I was the president, and that's why I wanted him to know.
And I felt like I had a duty and obligation to tell him because as you know, he's been
taking a lot of heat in the news media.
I don't know why he would brief the speaker and come down here to brief us on something
that we would have briefed him on.
That doesn't really seem to make a ton of sense to me.
It doesn't really pass the smell test.

House Panel Passes Bill to Audit the Federal Reserve - Duration: 3:23.
House Panel Passes Bill to Audit the Federal Reserve
A House panel has just approved legislation allowing a government watchdog audit of the
Federal Reserves policy decisions, a move the central bank is strongly opposed to.
This concept was made popular by Ron Paul, the former presidential
candidate who has always opposed the Federal Reserve system, in addition to nearly all
modern U.S. foreign policy decisions.
Previous versions of the bill have twice easily passed the House in a landslide victory, but
due to lack of support from Democrats in the Senate and
the Obama administration, failed to manifest into actual policy.
This time around we may see
a different end result, considering that Ron
Pauls son, Rand Paul, has already introduced a
measure about the same thing in the Senate.
So far, most Democrats seem to be not interested in auditing the Federal Reserve.
For whatever reason, more Republicans believe an audit is needed to rein in the central
bank.
The next step for the bill would be a
floor vote by the House, where Republicans hold a majority, followed by a Senate vote.

5 Technology Trends that Will Help You Land a Job - Duration: 2:53.
I'm Dawn Xiang and I'm a technology
consultant at Deloitte
i'm Sherilyn Notte and i'm a manager at Deloitte Digital
Internet of Things is the
idea that all technological devices can
be connected to the Internet and using
it in at the share and receive data
between each other I see the internet of
things all the time my job in the
pharmaceutical industry companies are
now able to take wearable device data
and get real-time information about
their patients physiological responses
machine learning is the ability for
computers now to analyze data and make
decisions almost based on data and
patterns
a lot of social media platforms
like Facebook and Twitter are using
machine learning today one example is
that Facebook often puts posts and
comments at the top of your newsfeed
based on your past interactions
virtual reality is the
computer-generated simulation of a 3d
image or environment that you can
interact with in a seemingly real or
physical way.
one example of virtual
reality is the idea that we can help
patients that are more homebound and
confined to their spaces and allow them
to experience other environments without
having to physically transport them there
one example is being able to
simulate a room and place furniture in
it so you can know before you buy it how
it's going to look
so touch commerce is the combination of
touchscreen technology and the one-click
shopping experience touch commerce
allows you to purchase something with
just a single click so the Amazon dash
button is an example of this touch
commerce is really going to improve
the user experience from simplifying
the user login process to decreasing the
number of clicks or touches it takes to
get an item from the online shopping
cart into an order that's confirmed on
its way and being delivered improving
overall user satisfaction
cognitive technology are things like natural
language processing that allows you to
automate certain functions that used to
meet a lot of people to do
initially we expect it to impact the software
industry the most with ninety-five
percent of software companies adopting
cognitive technologies by 2020 so an
example of this might be in a call
center where someone calls in and that
now a computer can recognize what they
need to call about and direct their call
based on that
regardless of which industry choose to go in
staying up to date on your technology trends will help
you become a more competitive candidates
my advice would be to get up to speed on
all kinds of technology trends because
they really apply across the board
