Our shadow will walk around Vienna, wander through the palace, and scare the Lord.
Hi everyone I'm Darko and you're watching a new episode on DumDum Channel.
This time we present you the official pistol used by Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes and later Kingdom of Yugoslavia.
The famous Browning FN 1910/22
FN Browning Model 1910/22 is a modification of the famous semi--automatic pistol FN Model 1910.
Why famous, but because it is with the Model 1910 Gavrilo Prncip killed Austro--Hungarian heir to the throne
Franz Ferdinand, which served as a pretext for the WWI.
Model 1910/22 what we are presenting today is a modification of the famous pistol
which was produced by factory Fabrique Nationale de Herstal, Belgium.
I'm sure I'm pronouncing this wrong :)
In calibres 9x17 or .380ACP popularly called "short nine" and 7,65x17 or .32ACP
This is a semi--automatic pistol operated on the principle of short bolt recoil with hidden hammer
and return spring placed around the barrel, from the famous American constructor John Browning.
It was created because of the need of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes.
In fact in 1920 the Ministry of the Army and Navy announced an international competition
for the purchase of 60,000 new pistols.
The contest was won by FN Factory with its model 1910,
but the client gave an additional request to extend the gun barrel to 114 millimeters
due to the greater precision and to increase the capacity of the magazine for the two extra rounds.
FN carried out these changes and following a successful test, first volumes were shipped to Kingdom in 1922.
The gun entered service under the designation M1910/22.
The first specimens intended for army wore a Cyrillic label "military-state"
while police models depending on whether they were intended for the eastern or western parts of the Kingdom
wore Cyrillic or Latin tag "Police".
And there is also a smaller series of pistols that were marked with the "Officers" label.
One of them we have here.
Kingdom, now under the title Yugoslavia, renewed the order in late thirties
about 20,000 pieces, and then it was possible to service the pistol at the Military Technical Institute Kragujevac,
under the leadership of people from the FN.
Let's try the precision of FN 1910/22 at 10 meters.
We try 7,65
Geco ammunition with the nickel tip.
And this rare version with the inscription "Officers" in 9mm short aka .380ACP.
First 7,65.
I have to mention that it is much more convenient, with FN--TV, since it is very thin, very hard to shoot with two hands
You can hardly pull the trigger.
So I will shoot one handed grip.
Here are the results with pistol that is almost 100 years old at 10 meters.
Two bullets, one in the second, third, fourth and fifth.
A group of about 6 cm to 10 meters.
Impressive result for such an old service pistol.
And now let's try FN with label "Officers" in 9 mm short.
I have to mention that the barrel is disastrous.
There are signs that the rifling were once here :)
In any case, we will try but probably no results.
We have a little jam.
Just last shot.
Here, 9 mm short which passed the entire Second World War.
Even before the Second World War in the service of SHS and the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. And after, probably with Tito's partisans.
Who knows how many thousands and thousands of bullets fired without any maintenance.
The outside does not look bad, but inside the barrel is really bad.
As we can see a group of hits, the group - half a meter.
We can see here, here, here, for this I am not sure.
This one was going strait, these three quite certainly went sideways
No stabilization, no rifling to stabilize the bullet.
But as it was, almost unrifled barrel.
But again, in any case, within 10 meters you can hit half meter object :)
Let's go on.
Some technical data about the FN 1910/22.
Length is 178 mm gun.
Barrel length is 114 mm.
Weight is 730 g
Magazine capacity 9 rounds for 7,65 and 8 rounds for 9mm short.
When you look at the pistol. We see the difference compared to 1910.
Of course, in the longer barrel. The extension is solved by adding these sleeve or cap.
That is locked on the slide.
We see on this side of the slide label "Officers".
This is a model that has been produced in the smallest series with the inscription Officers.
We see a plastic grips, trigger. On the slide we see sights.
Very small ones, which were very typical for that time.
We see the safety switch.
Which also serves for disassembly.
and magazine release which is typical for European guns of that time.
It is located at the bottom of the handle. So if we want to drop the magazine, we need to move this lever
and pull the magazine.
First, to check whether there is no bullet in the chamber. There is not.
Firing is done by gripping firmly because of the grip safety.
I then pull the trigger. The trigger has a very small take up, and then very clean break.
The trigger of this pistol, which is almost 100 years old is excellent!
Really formidable. 7,65 might even have better trigger than the 9mm short.
Let's see the effect on the ballistic gel. Let's see what kind of power have these little service calibres.
First 7,65.
Interesting.
Now a short nine.
As we can see both calibers went through this piece of ballistic gel.
We'll see what they did later. But we caught them in here, in this bottle.
Here they are. Of course none has opened it's FMJ bullet. Here it is 7.65, and here is a short nine.
We can not see through the gel.
We open, this is 7.65 and this is a short nine.
We first cut 9mm short wound.
Here as you can see
almost no impact power. You see how it went, almost no wound.
Here it is.
And next is 7,65.
Exactly in the middle of the wound.
Very little power here it lost most of the energy.
Here already lost power. Ricochet from the board into this balloon of 5 liters of water.
9 mm naturally carries more power. He went right and went into the bottle.
.
That's it.
When you shoot an old gun like this you should first check whether the weapon is capable of shooting.
To check whether there are some cracks and so on.
But checking old weapons before firing, we will discusse in one of our episodes on Wednesdays.
Disassembly for routine maintenance and cleaning is somewhat complicated
than with pistols that we have done the reviews so far.
First, of course, we check that there are no bullet in the chamber. Firing in a safe direction.
We remove the magazine.
This bushing here, a so--called cap that locks on the cover, has this tooth.
Let's move the tooth and then rotated counter--clockwise,
We hold it because the return spring is pushing it forward.
Remove it.
We remove the spring.
We push the slide back to this point latch the safety lever.
Rotate the barrel counter--clockwise
to this point here
Release the safety lever.
We need to find a place where ...
Well, here it is.
and simply pull the slide from the frame.
Again rotate the barrel clockwise. While we do not see this here notch
and was simply remove the barrel.
Here is the firing pin and draw it out from the gun.
And that is quite enough for a basic cleaning, maintenance and lubrication.
Assemble it as follows.
First, take slide and return the firing pin.
She returns to the only one possible way. So with this tooth upwards.
all the way.
Then take the barrel and with the locking lugs pointed up, back in the slide.
To roughly here somewhere. Then rotate counter-clockwise.
We take slide.
We put.
We pull up to this point and activate the safety.
Then take the barrel rotate in the clockwise direction.
To this point.
Safety lever down and release the slide.
Put the safety on.
We return the spring.
and take this bushing or cap and return it.
And then only rotate until the tooth falls in, there it is.
Safety off.
We put the magazine. Checking if it all functions.
And the gun is ready for further use.
When using a firearm always pay attention to safety.
This time we have FN 1910/22.
It does not matter whether you take it from the table or from the safe or the like from its holster. Always assume that the gun is loaded.
Ammunition in the magazine and the bullet in the chamber.
Remove the magazine.
It's different than on other pistols that we have worked on so far.
Checking several times that there are no bullet in the chamber. Visually check.
We have to get magazine in to perform a safe firing because it has mag safety.
Once again check. Fire in a safe direction.
Now the gun is ready for further use. We wish to shoot. We remove the magazine and put the ammo.
This version is 7,65.
.
Insert the magazine in the pistol.
Rack the slide and insert a bullet in the chamber. We still do not want to shoot. We put the safety.
This is the safety. We can now put it in the holster or on the table.
We put antiphons.
This pistol has grip safety. So you need to firmly grasp it in your hand to shoot.
When the safty is on, grip safety lever will not move forward.
Only when we deactivate safety.
No firm grip, no firing.
So we must firmly grip the pistol. Aim.
Another round is in the chamber lika with any other pistol.
We do not want to shoot. We put the safety on.
We want to empty the gun.
Safery off. remove magazine. empty the rounds.
We have bullet in the chamber. Pulling the slide back removes the bullet
A few times.
We return magazine. Check again. Safe firing.
Back in holster.
Before the outbreak of World War II, this gun has spread throughout Europe,
It was in service in Yugoslavia, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg,,
Greece, Turkey, Romania, France, Finland, and Denmark.
After the outbreak of WWII the Germans seized this pistol in large quantities.
Because of solid quality, they placed him in their service.
The largest amounts were given to the members of the Luftwaffe because it is thin and light.
Large quantities of this pistol were obtained by partisans
and as such was recognized as the primary pistol of Tito's army.
After the war it was repaired and used as service pistols until the introduction of M57.
FN 1910/22 is certainly an interesting weapon,
The gun that marked an epoch and a gun that armed police of half of Europe.
Necessary specimen to collectors,
and in Serbia you can possess this pistol as category C weapon.
because it has historical value.
