A few days ago I received in my mailbox a hat from the company "Sobuzzee"
I got that hat for Mcdonald's weekly special New York Street food
so I thought: WE HAVE TO TRY IT !
So what are we trying today Andrea?
We're trying the grilled cheese and bacon
Let's do it, Let's taste it !
Just like we did in the Picard video

We're going to rate the visual
and the taste
is it as good as a real American grilled cheese

- What do you think of the way it looks ?
- visually, it's a grilled cheese, with the white bread
To me, it's more a burger
it's not really a grilled cheese
Because you see, there are ...2.... I don't know the word ..." patties"

the taste is good
It doesn't taste like grilled cheese
I think it's kind of dry
- What's a real grilled cheese according to you ?
- A real American grilled cheese has a lot of cheese
And then you can add stuff, like avocados
ham
it's ok, but not too much
it's mainly cheese !
and this is not !
is it unusual to find an hamburger in a grilled cheese in the USA?
there are some food trucks that do it
but ... it's too much meat to me !
what about the flavor ?
I'm not surprised, I'm not fan
it's not amazing
but it's good
What grade would you give to this grilled cheese?

I'd give: 8
visually it's clean
I'd say 9
and this time it was well done, because sometimes at Mcdonald's
you get your order and you have your hamburger outside the bun
it's was nice and clean

I didn't like it

our second item is the New York Mc Wrap
Mcdonald's already has Wraps
I don't know if I would say that a wrap can be considered street food
It is because you can walk around while eating
and it's easy to make
it doesn't give me the image of street food.

it looks like their normal wraps
It's chicken, cheddar, fried onions

but it isn't
Now, let's try the last thing...
If you have watched the Picard video, you know that Andrea LOVES hot dogs !
so we're going to try the big hot dog from Mcdonald's
the 9.4 inch long !
HUGE!
Are we going to talk about that?
so there is the problem !

the problem here is that
the hot dog is outside of the bread
there is the bread and the sausage next to it
it's like at Ikea "make it yourself"
First of all, it's not a usual hot dog bun
because the bun usually is open on one side but isn't on the other sie
and that's why the sausage is out of the bun
what do you think of the flavor ?
it's ok, a little bit dry
there isn't enough sauce
there is a lot of bread
A LOT OF IT
it's very difficult to eat it
it's not street food for that reason
you cannot walk and eat at the same time
what's cool, for instance, when I was in New York, I bought a hot dog in central park
and you have the bun opened only on one side with the hot dog
and you can walk around while eating
it's very easy to eat
I think here it's also because of the size
it's also because it's fun !
it's huge
but it's open on both sides
so it falls from everywhere
there are fried onions
mustard and ketchup
however, the mustard tastes like the mustard... - Yes it's the American mustard
very yellow
it's not our mustard in France, the spicy one
it's the mustard used in hot dogs
it's authentic
there are fried onions
there is some cheese, but not a lot
so voilà for the hot dog
visually, I'd say 3

you think ooooh and then your like ugh....
even after building it back together

you only see the bread
I'd say maybe.. a piece of advice... be more simple, less bread
and more sauce
and choose a bread that is not open on one side
an actual hot dog bun
I had a big hot dog last time and it had actually a real bun
and therefore you don't have issues with the sausage
so yes, kind of disappointed
the taste wasn't too bad
a little bit dry
the authenticity of the mustard
it gave it points
but for the authenticity, the hot dog from Picard
the hot dog from there WAS SO GOOD
at Picard it was the right amount of bread, sauce, hot dog
and this one isn't
exactly
so what is the grade?
you said 4 for the look
7 for the taste
it wasn't horrible
and the authenticity ... 5
not good ....
So we've tried the 3 items from the Mcdonald's limited edition "New York street food"
I'd say, if I may, that Picard was successful in their trial of doing American food
even if not everything was perfect
it was way more authentic
for Mcdonald's it wasn't a successful attempt
it's kind of sad, because Mcdonald's is an American fast food
I think Mcdonald's tried to find a way to make it French
And by doing so, they lost a lot of point, a lot of taste
for the look and the authenticity
I think you're right
our advice would be
if you want to be authentic, don't be scared
to surprise
try something new, maybe something French people have never tried before
and that would be the opportunity to do so
don't make it French
because it's not authentic anymore
Anyway, it was super cool !
it was still nice to taste them
and we always love to try new things !
and we're looking forward to trying the next fast food or store
that we'll have an American theme
and we'll try it for you !
