It's the end of an era...
Psy's "Gangnam Style" is no longer YouTube's most watched video,… it's been knocked off
its perch... nearly five years after its release.
Park Se-young tells us which video dethroned one of Korea's king of pop.
After being released in 2012, Psy's "Gangnam Style" became the first YouTube video to reach
one billion views.
In fact, it notched up so many views that it forced the website to upgrade its maximum
possible number of views in 2014.
"Gangnam Style" became a viral sensation for its famous dance, spawning countless parodies.
After five years of dominance, however, the music video was overtaken on Tuesday by Wiz
Khalifa and Charlie Puth's "See You Again," …which now has about five million more views
than the K-pop megahit.
The track was written for the movie Furious 7, as a tribute to the late Paul Walker, …the
actor who died in a car accident before the film was completed.
It became the best-selling song worldwide after its release in 2015, …and it took
the video just six months to reach one billion views on YouTube.
The view counts of both videos, …just shy of three billion respectively, are equal to
more than 21-thousand years of streaming each.
