- Today's mission is to film twelve videos. Twelve.
Hey guys, my name is Trena.
If you are new here, and here on my channel
I help women entrepreneurs figure out
this crazy online world
so they can have more time doing the things they love.
And like I said,
today's vlog style video is all about how I film
my YouTube videos.
So I want to film twelve.
They are already scripted, researched, ready to go.
So now I need to focus getting this ready to go.
A lot of people have asked me like what kind
of makeup do you use on film or on video?
And do you need anything special?
So let me show you the products I'm using.
We're at my little makeup station right here.
I use this to prep my face before I put on any foundation.
I use this Tarte foundation and mostly put
it on with my hand.
I use this little spongy guy.
It's looking guide of gross and needs cleaned.
Then I will set that with this setting powder
from Laura Mercier.
I also have some under eye concealer that's straight
from Target.
This concealer also to kind of cover up my pores.
This is my bronzer from, it's Hoola bronzer from Benefits.
Blush. Highlighter for under my eyes.
You guys, this is amazing mascara from Target.
It's a ... is it ... Maybelline? L'Oreal?
I think it's L'Oreal.
I think it's L'Oreal.
It is fantastic. I use this eyeliner from Two-Face,
I believe it's Two Face.
Yes. Two Faced sketch marker.
I've been loving these eyeshadow sticks
from Laura Mercier as well.
They're really simple and easy to use.
You just, let's get this in focus.
This guy is really simple and easy to use.
You just glide it over your eyelids.
I have no washed my hair yet this morning,
so I'm just gonna use some of this dry shampoo.
It's called Not Your Mother's. Target again.
Gonna spray my hair a bit,
and then I'm going to take a curling iron.
Just a regular old curling iron.
And wrap my hair around it to give it kind
of that wavy look.
And we are done. Final product.
It took me about 45 minutes,
but I wasn't being real fast.
Two secrets. It has taken a long time
to figure out how to get this hair
and how to get a cat eye.
So if you're trying it out and you're struggling
and it feels like it's never gonna get right,
just keep practicing.
I've been working on this cat eye
for probably like five years?
And I still mess up.
I think I have like six different q-tips over there
to wipe off my cat eye mess up.
So those are two things that take me a long time
to do still.
The hair and the cat eye.
So now I gotta pick some shorts out and take them
to the office.
And full disclosure,
my clothing option is very minimal.
Since I left my day job,
I haven't really kept up with clothes.
But if you see my husband on the other hand
has three, four times the amount of clothes.
But he goes to work everyday, he says.
So that's his excuse.
Now I need to find something to wear.
If you watch my videos frequently,
you'll start to notice the same shirts over and over.
I like to wear this flannel,
this denim button up.
I like to wear lighter colors because I am pale,
so this peach.
Let's see if I can find any sweaters to wear
since it's winter.
So now my goal is to clean up.
I have to lay down blankets and pillows to really pick up
the echo in this room.
So since this floor is like hardwood floor
and there's really nothing in here to absorb the sound
if I don't put that down,
the audio's gonna be really bad.
And so I laid, I just, blankets and pillows.
That's all I need. Nothing fancy.
I also like to change my set up a little bit,
so I need to move my computer over to here.
Clean up my desk, and then we can start filming.
I'm actually pretty lucky today,
cause it is a cloudy day.
So I shouldn't worry about like sun beating in.
Like one thing I found out when I filmed
a couple of weeks ago is this computer makes humming noise.
Sorry I'm printing out my scripts.
That's that noise.
My computer makes a humming noise
that my mic picks up,
and so now I need to record my sound on my laptop.
Right here.
I'm gonna put the laptop on the floor.
Connect it to my mic.
And just turn off this computer because the humming
is too distracting from my videos.
All right friends.
So I'm just setting up down here.
I wanted to have my computer in the screen,
but its not really working.
I'm looking at the viewfinder here
to see where everything is.
Yes I know my crutches are in there for right now.
I have my scripts right here on my desk.
I have my mic like right off to the side here.
Might actually move it kind of front of me.
I'm gonna put my laptop down on the ground,
connect my mic to it.
And we should be able to get started.
Gotta put my pink lipstick on.
I think this is good.
I got a shadow back here.
You always wanna be mindful of any shadows.
I'm gonna pull an umbrella light,
which I have setting up here,
closer to hopefully negate that shadow,
because you don't really wanna have that dark shadow
behind you.
Other than that, I got my coffee.
I got my phone on do not disturb.
My husband have turned off the heat.
The computer's off.
Hopefully no noises, although they're building a house
outside us.
Let's just hope they're not working on it today.
Also, a little trick that I'm doing
so I don't have to keep changing.
Since I'm doing twelve videos,
I'm gonna rotate videos.
So I'm gonna start with series one, video one.
And then I'm gonna pop over to series two, video five.
And I have them sitting right here
so I know what's next.
That way I can wear this shirt for ... whoops.
I can wear this shirt for both videos.
And they not repeat the same day.
Or same week. So.
The way you can really do twelve videos in a day
is prepping.
I spent time researching my video ideas,
scripting them, thinking about b roll.
All in advance.
And that's why I can sit down right now,
and film twelve videos.
I cleared my day.
Today is just for filming.
And that's the only way you can do this type of batching
is if you prep.
You know what you're gonna say,
you script it, you have a plan.
Otherwise it's gonna take you forever to film.
And you may not get to twelve your very first time.
But you can work up to it.
But again, it's all about prepping before your filming day.
So I gotta start filming if I'm going to reach
these twelve videos.
So I'm on to video number six.
Almost halfway there.
A little tip when you are batch filming.
Always have extra batteries.
So this camera battery just went dead,
and so I have a backup battery.
It's now in my camera and I'm charging the next one
if I need to use it when this one dies.
So always have backup batteries and backup SD cards.
All right friends.
So just finished filming my twelve videos.
I do have to film like an overhead shot,
so I wanna do my power sheets video.
And I wanna film it like that.
So I do have to do that yet,
but I don't have to be on video for that.
It's just gonna be me talking and writing.
So it didn't necessarily have to do that today.
I can do it without makeup.
But that is the result of filming and changing.
So I did change seven times.
And if you guys think you can't film twelve videos in a day
you just gotta be prepared.
You gotta have those video ideas,
you gotta write them out,
know what it is that you're doing.
I'm even on crutches and I still got these done.
And it took me about two and a half hours.
My videos are generally between five to seven minutes.
Two of them might have been three minutes,
they're quick videos.
But it's doable.
So let me just show you my set up real quick.
So you can see how I'm doing this.
Okay so for me I'm sitting here at my desk.
And yes I'm in a knee brace,
so what's your excuse?
Since my computer made too much noise,
I use my laptop.
I have this mic and it's plugged in to my laptop.
What I do is I open quick time right here.
And I wanna go to new audio recording.
So I will push record when I'm ready to start.
And then my camera sits right here in this ring light
and I'll push record on my camera.
But other than that,
I then file them by date.
So I had them all listed in my planner right here,
the calendar.
And so then every audio file that I created,
I titled it date.
So then I'm gonna do is I'm gonna go into Google Drive,
which my editor and I use.
And I'm gonna upload every single video file
to a folder.
And so in that folder will be my script.
So he knows what call out points that I want.
I also need to go and do some b roll footage,
which I have listed in my script as well.
And I'll ad my audio file there.
So he has everything he needs.
Based on folder.
And those folders on based on dates.
So he knows when those videos are due.
And he just shared me his first version.
I'll let him know what sticks,
what I don't like, he'll fix it.
Usually it only takes, max, two rounds.
Usually the first time he sends me one,
we're good.
He knows what I like.
And that's basically how I'm uploading to YouTube.
You guys I'm gonna be doing three videos in January,
make sure you're subscribed,
every Tuesday and Thursday gonna be a new video.
And then a surprise video.
Look out for some surprised coming up.
So there's a floating third day throughout the month.
For me, now that I'm done filming,
and I got done, I am gonna go set some lunch.
And work on some business stuff.
If you guys have questions about any of the setup,
anything about filming,
let me know down in the comment section.
You guys can do this.
It's not that hard.
You need to do it a couple of times
to get a process in line for you.
And then it's easier to do, trust me.
If you like vlogs,
if you want me to vlog more,
make sure you give this video a thumbs you.
