Is It Possible To Get Along With Your Abuser? - Duration: 2:56.

[pencil writing]

[Pokemon game sound]

There may be moments when you get along with your abuser.

That's bound to happen at one point or another.

There will be moments when you get along

even after you've been hit and dragged.

There will be moments when you get along

even after you've been called names.

There will be moments when you get along even

after they've written or told a bunch of lies about you to family members

so that they will look innocent and you're the bad guy.

And there may be times that you attempt

to cut off all contact every time those things happen,

but things don't always work out the way it was planned.

This is especially common when you're still

under the same roof as your abuser and

you don't have the means to get out and stay out.

It's important to realize if you don't already

that regardless of all of this,

it doesn't erase the fact that these things happened,

that they're in the wrong, and that none of this is okay.

Some of you may wonder why we even

sometimes get along with our abusers.

They hurt us, so why are we being nice to them?

I get it because from the perspective of an outsider,

from someone who has never experienced this in any sort of way,

it really does look bizarre.

The fact of the matter is it's about survival and comfort,

trying to ease everything,

and trying to prevent it all from happening and continuing.

It's just better when things are going well, obviously.

Another thing is that abusers know how to turn on the charm.

They know how to act pleasant to you and to outsiders.

And when you see a good mood, you tend to want to match it.

Plus, doing anything of the opposite

in front of other people can put a huge target on our backs.

Getting along gives us hope.

It makes us hope that it will stay like

this the second that it happens.

Even if we know that it likely won't happen,

it's just the switch in our brain that turns on and sucks us right back in.

It's the feeling of longing for an actual parent

(or whatever person that may be)

again that can consume us.

If that is missing,

it's natural to want to grab on to it

when it's right there in front of your face.

There is nothing wrong with trying to attempt

to better a relationship or lack thereof

if that's what you feel like you need to do for comfort and survival.

There's nothing wrong with you if you went out to dinner and had a good time.

But know that it doesn't excuse anything,

that it doesn't erase any abuse that they've done to you.

Use offense when you need to and defense when you need to.

The last thing I'm going to say is a bit of a disclaimer.

Not everyone will have moments of getting along.

Some situations are just so bad that it ends up not being possible.

Some people have zero interest in making

any sort of attempt to make any sort of amends.

Some have no emotional attachment whatsoever to their abuser

and it's easy for them to cut them out,

especially if they don't live with them anymore or never have.

So, naturally, this video is not going to apply to

every single person who has experienced abuse in their lives.

If you want to follow me on my social media,

my usernames are down below.

If you want to send a letter or anything,

my PO box address is right up here.

Last video and Pateron are right over here.

I upload every Monday and Thursday

and I will see you later.

Bye.

Inman Connect NY 2018 - What I Learned - Duration: 5:09.

I just got back from Inman Connect in New York City and I'm gonna tell you all

about it. And we are starting over right now.

Hey everyone, Karin Carr here in Savannah. In this week's video I am talking to you, my

fellow real estate agents. I just got back from Inman Connect in New York and

it was freaking awesome, not only because I got to eat New York pizza and bagels

and see friends that lived in the area, but because I just learned so much! If

you've never been to Inman before - and this is my first time going too - you've

heard of Inman Real Estate. They send daily publications of things are going

on in the real estate industry. It is a whole bunch of breakout sessions where

they just have phenomenal speakers getting up on stage and I got to hear

people that I totally was fangirling over like Katie Lance from Katie

Lance Consulting, Chelsea Peitz from Chelschat. The first day I sat in on

an event called Hacker Connect which is really for software developers that are

coming up with solutions for the real estate industry. I will be honest - most of

it was going right over my head because I'm not a programmer. But then they had

roundtable sessions where we could choose a table to sit at and the one I sat

at was all about artificial intelligence and how could we possibly

use that in the real estate industry? I was the only Realtor at the table and

they were kind of like... why are you here? After a while it was kind of

cool because they were saying, "Well... if we created something like this how could

you use it? If we did something like this would this be beneficial to you?" They

were not talking about coming up with technology that replaces real estate

agents and takes us out of the equation, they were talking about things that they

could come up with to make our lives easier. Then there was also a trade show

where they had all the different booths from the various vendors and the all of

the ones that caught my eye, all of the ones that had something really to bring

to the table, were talking about video. How you can use 360 degree video in your

business. There were a lot of companies there that were promoting solutions for

promoting your listings. There was also Savvy Homes

Portal which is promoting working it from the buyer side, and they had asked

me if I would work in their booth and talk a little bit about how I'm using

their platform in my business. There were tons of other providers there

but the ones... it was like 70% had solutions for video. So if you're not

using video in your business yet you need to get on board. I can't even tell

you what video has done for my personal business. You've heard a million times that

people do business with people they know like and trust. When you are doing video

and you are face to camera with them like this, if they watch your video and

then they watch another one, then they watch another one, they start to feel

like they know you, right? Imagine if you went to the grocery store and you saw... I

don't know, insert your favorite actor here. If you saw

them at the store you'd be like, "Oh my gosh, I watch all of your shows! I love you so

much! You feel like you know them. They don't know you from Adam, but you feel

like you know them. And the same thing happens when you're making videos for

your YouTube channel about your real estate business. So I'm all about video.

In fact, the very first day of the conference I got a lead from somebody

that said, "I found your YouTube channel, I binge watched your videos, I am moving

to Savannah in six months, will you help me?" And I said, "Yes, yes I can." So

that is my wrap-up from Inman. If you have at all considered using video in

your business now is the time to make the leap. Start with researching,

start looking into what it is that you need. You don't need a huge

investment in equipment. You'd probably be pretty shocked at the stuff that I

use to make my videos - not a lot of stuff. So tell me, are you using video in your

business now? Comment down below and let me know. How has it changed things for

you? Have you found it to be bringing in leads to your market? I do. I'm getting

leads every single week from prospects who want to buy or sell in my own market.

Not only is it giving me a lot of nationwide visibility because if

somebody Googles "how to sell your house" they might find my video even if they

live in Kansas. But I am definitely getting leads from people that intend to

buy or sell in my market and guess what? That was a free lead. I didn't do pay per click,

and I didn't do a Facebook ad. They found me organically through the SEO that is

the YouTube search engine. So comment down below, let me know, do you do it now?

Is it working for you? Do you plan to start? I certainly hope that you do. Thank

you so much for watching. If you like this video do me a favor and hit the

thumbs up button. Leave a comment ,share it with a friend, and if you liked it

that much consider subscribing to my channel. I do post new content every week

and I'd certainly love it if you didn't miss anything. Thanks again and we'll see

you next week! Okay, we're gonna delete the other video because I had crap on

the desk behind me. So that is our wrap-up - no I already said that part. And that's a wrap.

Are You Rising Above the Divide and Conquer Strategy - Duration: 9:16.

Are You Rising Above the Divide and Conquer Strategy

Its great to believe we know some answers to lifes deepest questions, or even important

current affairs, especially in this inherently confusing existence where it first appears

weve been born with an unshakable amnesia into a collective mental ward. Yet given theres

an eclectic array of beliefs and opinions on every conceivable topic known to the collective

mind and heart, its a surety that each and every one of us has gotten some of our

perspectives spectacularly wrong.

The mainstream mentality is obviously a breeding ground of propaganda, deceit and outright

violence, which reflects why droves of sheep are jumping the fences and exploring the self-uncharted

lands of independent thought and practice. This is no surprise when the masses have been

very successfully dumbed into a philosophically separate and behaviourally shallow engagement

with the reverence of life. They distractingly fight amongst each other in both status and

ideology, with the most powerful one currently being the sex (not gender) wars. However,

the infighting and grandstanding is not just limited to the primary herd; unfortunately

those who are exploring the wilderness are also subjecting themselves to the whims of

central control.

2017 and the beginning of 2018 has stunningly illustrated how far so-called self-thinkers

have fallen victim to the divide and conquer strategy.

In effect, the kakistocracy doesnt need to round you up if youre still enacting

their agenda. The popular meme that suggests that the best slaves are ones who think theyre

free can therefore be expanded: the best slaves are ones who think they used to be slaves

but now believe theyre free.

What was originally a predominately organic response to authoritarianism and centralisation

has sadly devolved into a self-contradictory state of affairs where the alternative media

and their regurgitators have locked themselves into a dogmatic war for the dominion of who

is right. Thats not to say that we shouldnt be trying to find the answers to significant

questions, but when hearsay and confirmation bias is at such unprecedented levels its

a clear indication that we need to enact a different strategy.

Whether we do or not will depend on whether enough of us acknowledge this problem and

act accordingly.

The simple solution is for each of us to acknowledge that were definitely wrong about some of

our suspicions, so its important to change our language to honour that understanding

and transmute it into wisdom. As a basic example, instead of this is right and anyone who

believes differently is fooling themselves (and an x, y and z!), with a simple twist

to based on my research this appears to be right, we now have a more inclusive

and intelligent dialect and platform for debate.

Its seems so simple doesnt it? Well, thats because it is. And if enough of us

do it, it will cascade through the fenceless rivers so that we all begin to drink in its

authenticity.

Primary Examples This article wont trigger you properly

if there isnt an example that you can relate to, so hold tight for you to question your

own answers.

Lets start with the most obvious: Trump. What a clusterfuck he (or they or we) have

created in the alternative realm. The primary beliefs in the populace attempting independence

are that Trump is either a puppet of the deep state, part of a divided deep state but also

part of a patriotic coup, a genuine patriot but deceived by the Zionists, just another

Zionist pawn, or a mixture. Theres probably a few others too, but you catch the drift.

Ultimately, its speculation. Of course its likely that he is just another carrot

for the donkey simply based on history, let alone the amounting evidence which illustrates

his intimate connections to the shepherds. However, we still dont absolutely know.

Personally I have that suspicion, but I also acknowledge there are variables that I cannot

possibly account for. Therefore, it would be ingenious if such a massive split within

the independent media could be repaired by simply changing not just our mindsets, but

our language in the debate.

The same goes for the Q Anon phenomenon. For those not up to scratch with Qs so-called

prophecies, he or she or they are an anonymous voice on 4chan who has claimed to be a POTUS

insider who has been tasked with disseminating information regarding the countercoup against

the farmers. There are of course various beliefs about the authenticity of this source, namely

that he is globalist psy-opery, a genuine player or simply a troll jerking off to his

own creativity. With no surprise, there is some evidence to support all the views, especially

if you look hard (or cryptically) enough.

Cryptocurrencies and their associated services are another primary area of divide within

those who are exploring the alleged greener grass. Various beliefs are Cryptos are a deep

state tool for digital totalitarianism, an organic decentralisation tool, an organic

decentralisation tool but are being co-opted as a tool by the deep state or a deep state

tool that was co-opted by the sovereignty and decentralisation agents. Regardless of

which is correct now, or which will be correct tomorrow or the day after, it is a much more

convoluted judgement to come to. As an essential sidenote, so far theyve been a brilliant

investment option for those subject to socioeconomic violence.

Moving on, and Ill wrap this up quick from here, other examples are that some people

believe that everything without exception is a reflection of the shepherds steering,

whilst others feel that there are more genuine people behind the curtain or even in the political

and corporate spheres then what weve been programmed to believe. Then theres the

China and Russia are deep state pawns vs genuine competitors. Or how about the sometimes nasty

and pompous anarchist vs minarchist vs moneyless debate regarding our future social system.

And just for shits and giggles, I have to mention the flat earth vs round earth vs hollow

earth debate too (for the record, I respect and appreciate the anomalies and deceptions

brought up by this layer of interrogation, even though it appears that none of the competing

evidence can logically form a strict conclusion).

Final Thoughts This has happened before. Its not new in

essence, just in content and scope. Ever since the dawn of hierarchical structures, there

have always been populists who have been poisoned by the baits placed by their enemies.

So make no mistake; some of the beliefs mentioned above are no doubt disinformation traps, yet

the entire conflict that were playing into is the D&C strategy at its most effective.

Regardless, its great to see that so many independent journalists and sovereignty citizens

are exposing the scam we call the 21st Century social system. Whilst its true that the

spiritually devoid aristocracy and their brilliantly executed corporatocracy has spawned a toxic

grip on the current and future design of our sacred planetary ecosystem, to what extent

it stays that way really is up to the people.

Its up to us.

After all, were all in this together. Belittling your comrades helps no one, not even you.

That doesnt mean you cant truthbomb your way through incoming fire, but with a

little poise coupled with a humble and honest attitude, were all going to be much better

off.

In addition, the self-freed sheep i.e. you and I are realising were still

trapped in some way, reflecting a dance with the journey of gnosis that both ancient and

modern Gnostics have always hoped wed bust out to. In this light, exposing the shadow

in the material realm is just one step on the dancefloor. There is so much more of the

silhouette that needs to be identified and transmuted, just like theres so much more

of the light to embody from the surface all the way to the core.

Ultimately, we all just want to be as free as we can be. We should respect that within

ourselves, and each other. You know you dont know all the answers, as does your so-called

competitor, so lets start acting like it. Some of your material and metaphysical speculations

might be right, but many probably arent. Even if what you believe turns out to be mostly

correct, if you spent the majority of your time lost in the competition of which sheep

thinks they know the shepherd best, then you have wasted a grand opportunity

to actually become wild.

Trump Admin Cuts More Useless Obama Era Environmental Spending - Duration: 3:17.

Trump

Admin Cuts More Useless Obama-Era Environmental Spending

President Donald Trumps administration is dismissing an intensive environmental review

measuring the effect banning mining on 230,000 acres in Minnesota has on a nearby wilderness

area.

Instead of completing an environmental impact statement totaling hundreds of pages of analysis,

the U.S. Forestry Service will prepare a much less extensive environmental assessment, according

to a draft press release obtained by The Washington Post.

Environmentalists criticized the Trump administration for the reported action, believing the government

should follow through and complete the environmental impact statement started in the final days

of former President Barack Obamas administration.

Our concern is that the Forest Service committed to completing an environmental-impact

statement, Wilderness Society Senior Counsel Nada Culver told The Washington Post.

While we certainly agree that closing this area to mining does not have much environmental

harm, we think its important that they follow though, that all voices are heard.

The Obama administration committed to the extensive environmental review after banning

mining in the area for two years.

The impact statement was meant to inform whether the mining ban should be lengthened to last

two decades.

Twin Metals Minnesota, a subsidiary of a Chilean company, held leases to mine copper and nickel

in the 230,000 acre area.

The Obama administration refused to renew the leases in Jan. 2017, in order to assess

the impact mining operations would have on the nearby Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.

Congress took action in November to lift the two-year mining ban.

The House passed the Minnesotas Economic Rights in the Superior National Forest by

a vote of 216 to 204.

The bill is currently waiting a vote in the Senate.

What initiated this situation is an arbitrary overreach by the Obama administration at the

last minute, GOP Rep. Doug Lamborn of Colorado, chairman of the Subcommittee on Energy and

Mineral Resources, said after the bill was passed.

It was looking to score political points on its way out the door by taking the near-unprecedented

action of initiating a full mineral withdrawal that was undemocratic.

The Department of the Interior did not respond to The Daily Caller News Foundations request

for comment.

The Habitability of Binary Star Systems - Duration: 4:10.

Star systems can be incredibly complicated things.

One system, for example, discovered in 2015 contains five stars all orbiting each other,

two of them so closely that they share outer atmospheres.

This interplay of major gravitational sources in multiple star systems complicates the possibility

of stable orbits of any planets within these systems.

Stability is a major factor in whether life can arise on a world, you won't get very

far if your planet periodically freezes over and then bakes as it negotiates its way around

double suns.

Since multiple star systems make up a significant portion of the star systems in the milky way,

this problem likely precludes complex life in a lot of systems.

But not all.

Multiple star systems are situational by their very nature.

A good case would be the closest known exoplanet to earth, Proxima B, see my videos on that

planet on this channel.

The star it orbits, Proxima Centauri, has recently been shown to be part of the Alpha

Centauri system and gravitationally bound to the two larger stars in that system.

Yet Proxima B does have stability and is considered a candidate for possibly harboring life.

While Proxima B's chances for harboring life aren't that great, Proxima Centauri

itself is a red dwarf star which in recent months have been questioned as to their suitability

for harboring truly habitable zones due to the close in proximity to the star, there

are many systems where better stars are separated enough to allow for stable orbits around those

stars.

This may make them prime candidates for civilizations to develop around and colonize, after all,

if you want to generate energy for your civilization, two stars are better than one.

It's always natural to colonize closeby planets first, we look to Mars for example

because it's right next door as opposed to heading off to Proxima B on a decades long

trek to found our first interstellar colony.

One of the things that will drive the colonization of the solar system will be resources, the

moment someone demonstrates that money can be made mining the solar system, it will very

likely spark off exploration and colonization at a breakneck speed.

Those resources in our solar system are not yet completely clear, but in a double star

system the energy resources of that second more distant sun would be obvious to a civilization.

Civilizations building colonies around a second star in their system would need communications

between those colonies, much in the same way we do that with our interplanetary probes.

Radio and laser communications have shown to be perfectly good for this, we use it,

we know it works.

Technological alien civilizations would know that too, and given that communications times

between two binary stars would be comparable to communications times in a solar system

such as ours, this may make for a very unique method for SETI to detect such civilizations

easier than it might be for single star system civilizations.

In his book "Sharing the Universe, Perspectives on Extraterrestrial Life", Seth Shostak

points out that occasionally widely separated double star systems will be oriented just

so as to eclipse each other from our perspective.

Observing those star systems during eclipses gives an advantage to detecting signals, you're

lined right up looking down the barrel of the gun so to speak.

And the chances for double star systems to host earth-like planets has been rising lately.

Recent modeling by Max Popp and Siegfried Eggl, link to the paper below, bolsters the

possibility of habitable zones in double star systems.

Civilizations living in such star systems would have Tatooine like worlds with double

suns in the skies.

One wonders how that might affect life and evolution on such planets.

Thanks for listening!

How To Paint Watercolour Donuts: 3 WAYS! (Easy, Beginner Tutorial) - Duration: 10:27.

Hey guys welcome back to my channel and welcome if you're new here! Definitely subscribe if you want to keep seeing more videos like this.

So today, we're gonna create some

donuts!

I'm gonna show you three different ways to do this. To start off,

I'm just creating a circle shape. Just use anything round and trace it and you'll get your circle.

And then we're gonna create the center of the donut.

You can use a smaller object to do this or just freehand it like I'm doing now.

For the first example I'm going to work on the icing first,

and then the doughy part of the donut after. I'm just mixing up a pink shade here

(I'm gonna list everything below as always that I've used) and I'm just gonna start filling in the circle...

But I'm not gonna touch the edges of the pencil marks.

I'm gonna kind of keep it loose and sort of wobbly around the edges to really give that

icing effect. And then with a darker shade of the color I've mixed up,

I'm just adding that around the center circle and also around the outside edges.

This is just gonna add a bit of dimension. And then to lighten areas,

I just take a dry brush, and I sop up some of that paint in the center areas.

Going back in while the paint is still wet, I'm adding more of that darker color again

Just to amp up the dimension a little bit more.

So once that's totally dry, I'm just taking my eraser and erasing the pencil marks

just so they don't show through on what I'm gonna do next.

I've mixed up sort of a brown tan shade with raw umber a little bit of yellow and

I'm just going to

recreate that circle around the icing.

If you want to you could leave the pencil marks in if that helps, but just try not to touch them with your paint because

Depending on the pencil you're using the pencil mark might still show through when you try to erase it later on.

So just add that doughy part around your icing, and then you're gonna add a little bit in the center as well.

Once again, I'm keeping it close to the icing, but I'm still making sure there's a defined circle shape in the center.

Now I'm going to take a smaller number 2 brush

And I'm just mixing up a darker shade to create these little sprinkles.

I'm just gonna randomly place these all over the icing just to really give it that doughnut feel.

Once those sprinkles are dry. I'm just taking a fine detail brush, and I'm using a bit of

Burnt Umber (just a darker shade) of that pink tone.

And I'm just making these little shadows on one side of each of the sprinkles... again

just to add a little bit more dimension to those. You don't have to do this, you could keep your

drawing looking flat, but I like to add highlights and shadows. For the highlights I'm just using a gel pen.

Now moving on to the second donut.

I've created my circle again the exact same way and this time we're gonna start with the dough

base of the donut

This works well if you're doing a darker shade of icing on top.

It wouldn't work as well if we were doing this on the lighter pink shade icing...

So this is just something to keep in mind when you're choosing your colors. This might be easier for some, you might like the other

method... it just depends on your personal preference.

So I've filled in that entire donut area with

a light mix of raw umber and burnt umber (I believe),

and then I'm just going over it one more time now that it's dry, and

I'm going to add in darker bits of Lamp Black and burnt umber

just to create more dimension as well around the inside circle and then the outside pieces.

And once again with a dry brush

You can just wipe your brush off on paper towel and then lift up some of that wet paint

To create these sort of glazy

highlights

Then I'm going back in with a darker shade. I'm just sort of dotting on a little bit of texture and

Just shadows and things that kind of show up on a doughnut.

It just helps to keep it less one-dimensional.

I'm just blending that into a darker shade again because I wanted the icing part to be a little bit darker.

I did try to keep some of that donut dough around the edges and in the center as you can see and

for highlights again just use that dry brush to lift off some of the paint wherever you want to.

You can see how much lighter watercolor dries in this example in particular.

But once it does dry you're going to want to erase that pencil line

So you're left with your finished donut.

Now this is just an option... you could go back in with white

Gouache or something more opaque than a watercolor and add in little white highlights.

I didn't really like how this looked so I just kind of stopped doing it.

But if that's something you want to do definitely go ahead.

For the third doughnut

We're gonna make it more of a side view.

I've just drawn a circle like I did previously and I'm just gonna take my pencil and kind of draw a guideline

of where I'm gonna

chop some of the top of that circle off.

So I'm basically creating sort of an oval shape in the center of that circle and then

Connecting the bottom parts and adding in a little round donut hole.

And I'm gonna start with the icing again, so using that same pink color

I'm just applying that to the top of the donut leaving some space around the inside circle

you don't have to leave space around the top this time because you're not going to see that side of the dough.

Then with a darker shade I'm just adding that around the

top half of the inner circle and then around the base of the

Icing, and using that same dry brush trick I'm just creating a little bit of highlight.

Once that's dry, I'm erasing that pencil line and the line underneath the icing.

And I've mixed up the brown color now. When you look at a donut from the side,

It's got a darker stripe a lighter stripe, and then another darker stripe.

I guess that's just how Donuts are made and it kind of appears that way.

So I'm doing the darker stripe right under the icing and then along the bottom of the donut

And I'm kind of leaving the center lighter, and I will blend that in with a little bit of water.

Of course you can't forget the donut hole. At this angle you're not going to see any actual

hole you're just gonna see the side of the dough.

So you're just gonna fill in that hole with the dough color making it darker along the bottom half.

Now because the icing is dry you can go in with your smaller brush

and your sprinkle colors and just add as many sprinkles as you like.

Once that is totally dry you can erase the pencil marks. You can see here on this side that I just finished erasing...

Some of the paint got onto the pencil and the pencil

marks still kind of show through. That's why I like to erase the pencil lines as I go.

So there are three different ways to do donuts! You can decorate them however you like.

571 Tons Of Toxic Lead Sprayed Into America's Skies Every Year - Duration: 10:45.

571 Tons Of Toxic Lead Sprayed Into America's Skies Every Year

America is being doused every minute of every day with the toxic heavy metal lead as it

is burned in "avgas" aviation gas, the fuel that powers most piston-driven aircraft

(i.e. anything with a propeller).

A grand total of 571 tons of lead are dumped each year into the air over our heads from

aircraft alone, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

(1)

According to a scientific paper titled, "Lead and Halogen Contamination from Aviation Fuel

Additives at Brackett Airfield," (2) X-Ray Fluorescence instrumentation was used to analyze

lead, chlorine and bromine content in avgas liquids.

The tests showed avgas contains the following:

Lead: 48 ppm Bromine: 42.6 ppm

Chlorine: 605.2 ppm

Lead is a highly toxic heavy metals that causes bone diseases, brain damage and cancer.

Chlorine is a highly-reactive chemical with powerful oxidative properties.

The fact that both are being sprayed daily into the air above America is inexcusable.

964 tons of lead released into the air (from all sources)

How much lead is being "chemtrailed" across America due to aviation fuel?

According to General Aviation News (3), about 681,000 gallons of avgas were burned each

day in 2013.

Avgas weighs approximately 6 lbs per gallon, meaning over 4 million pounds of avgas is

burned each day, or over 1.8 million kg of avgas.

If lead is 48 ppm in avgas, that means each kg of avgas contains 48 mg of lead.

Multiplied by the 1.8 million kg of avgas burned each day, this means avgas fuel is

emitting 86.4 kg of lead PER DAY in the skies over our heads.

Over a year, that's 31,536 kg of lead dumped directly into our air, and that lead falls

onto our farming soils, forests, lakes, rivers, streams, oceans, children's playgrounds, cattle

ranches, and so on.

The National Emissions Inventory says that lead emissions are even higher than what I've

calculated here.

"Piston-engine aircraft are the chief source of lead emissions in the United States, emitting

57% of the 964 tons of lead put into the air in 2008, according to the most recent figures

from the National Emissions Inventory," reports the NIH.

(4) Small aircraft pilots dismiss the problem

Some pilots seem inclined to dismiss this problem entirely.

"I'm hooked on lead.

Maybe not in the way a junkie is addicted to drugs, but hooked nonetheless," writes

Air & Space Magazine columnist David Freed, a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist.

(5)

"The tetraethyl lead added to aviation fuel helps keep the engine of my four-seat, 48-year-old

Piper Cherokee running smoothly.

And that keeps me happy."

He goes on to lament the idea that cleaner lead-free fuels might make him unable to afford

to fly:

"We live in dread of fuel costs continuing to rise and of FAA airworthiness directives,

which often require us to pay for expensive, usually safety-related modifications.

Will a government-mandated switch to unleaded fuel ultimately break the bank, leaving us

little recourse but to quit flying and sell our airplanes?"

Later in his article, he does acknowledge that lead is a public health hazard, but he

explains that his airplane contributes virtually nothing to the problem:

"But is the exhaust from my airplane's 180-horsepower engine really that significant a national

health threat?" he asks.

He's right that his one airplane isn't much of a factor in all this, but in a collective

sense, if you combine all the piston-driven aircraft flown by pilots like Freed, it becomes

a huge issue nationwide.

Avgas emissions are the number one source of lead emissions into the skies of America.

(David Freed, by the way, is the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of the Cordell Logan

aviation mystery novels.

He's a great writer and obviously a thoughtful, intelligent person... almost certainly a likeable

guy and a valuable contributor to society in many ways as an investigative journalist.

For example, he authored an 8,600-word expose in The Atlantic which detailed how "the FBI

pursued the wrong suspect in a string of anthrax murders following 9/11."

Obviously, this is the kind of investigative journalist we like to support in the mainstream

media -- people who ask real questions and search for truth.

So to be clear, I'm not attacking him in a personal sense over his article; I only hope

he reconsiders the importance of the aviation industry getting the lead out of its fuels

and thereby out of our skies.

We need thoughtful, intelligent people on the leading edge of this issue if we ever

hope to have lead-free avgas become a reality.)

As the following EPA chart shows, avgas is the No. 1 source of lead emissions, followed

by "industry" in the No. 2 spot, then coal-fired power plants third ("electric generation").

By the way, where does all this lead end up?

Much of it appears in the food supply, of course, because plants absorb lead from soils

and grazing animals eat and concentrate toxins from plants.

This is why heavy metals are often higher in milk or meat than in raw grass.

It's also part of the reason why I keep finding lead in so many foods when I run atomic spectroscopy

tests in my ICP-MS laboratory.

Click here to see lead results on cacao, grasses, pet treats, protein products and more.

If I ever happen to fly airplanes, you can bet I'll find a way to burn unleaded gasoline.

I'm not going to streak across the sky dumping toxic heavy metals into the atmosphere, especially

since part of my current mission is to explore ways that society can develop cleaner food

with lower heavy metals.

Even better, I would hope to one day see a huge breakthrough in battery power density

that could result in, believe it or not, electric airplanes.

(Yes, it seems impossible today because it would require at least a 1000-fold increase

in battery power density.

But humans are really good at achieving remarkable breakthroughs, so I'm going to remain optimistic

on this point and hope the scientists can find a far better way to store power than

today's current old-school chemical batteries.)

Lead was removed from automobile gasoline by the EPA

As you explore all this, keep in mind that lead used to be added to regular gasoline

for many decades.

Lead helped engines run better and improved gas mileage.

But it also resulted in millions of pounds of lead being dumped directly into the environment,

increasing lead contamination of soils and causing people to inhale lead with every breath.

Children's IQs in America noticeably dropped during those "lead years," and IQs were restored

to higher levels once lead was removed from gasoline.

Today, it is illegal to add lead to gasoline and burn it in vehicles.

But it's perfectly legal to burn lead in aviation fuel.

"Avgas is one of the few fuels in the United States that still contain lead, leaving it

the single largest source of lead emissions in the country," reports the National Institutes

of Health (4).

"Concern over the health effects of lead has sparked a contentious effort to finally get

the lead out of avgas something the aviation and petroleum industries have been attempting

for more than two decades, to no avail."

The NIH goes on to describe the harmful effects of lead:

Lead is a well-documented neurotoxicant that is particularly harmful to children, who are

typically exposed when they ingest or inhale lead-containing dust in the home.

In recent years, serious harm to cognitive and behavioral functions including intelligence,

attention, and motor skills has been demonstrated in children with much less lead in their blood

than previously thought to cause harm, and it is now understood there is no safe level

of lead exposure.

When will we decide to stop poisoning ourselves?

What's clear in all this is that as long as we keep burning lead in avgas, we're going

to keep suffering the health effects on the ground.

In an age where the academic achievements of American children are routinely overshadowed

by children in India, China or Korea, the continued dumping of IQ-damaging lead into

our atmosphere seems absurd.

What you dump into the sky falls onto the soils and eventually makes its way into the

food supply, too, so burning lead in airplanes sooner or later results is all of us eating

lead on our dinner plates.

How big of a problem is this in the really big picture?

Arguably it's not the most urgent problem we face.

Even I would argue that our nation's power grid vulnerability to high-altitude EMP weapons

is a far greater threat to us all.

In an era when war seems to be breaking out in the Middle East, and the global banking

system seems forever on the verge of collapse, it's difficult for society to focus on the

more subtle (but chronic) long-term problems like lead in avgas.

But this is a problem that can be solved with a phased switchover to mogas (unleaded fuel).

All that's required is some leadership by the FAA and EPA working together to clean

up our aviation industry and get the lead out of our skies.

Is it too much to ask that we stop dumping toxic lead into the skies above our own heads?

Hatebreed - CRAZY TOUR STORIES Ep. 590 - Duration: 1:17.

This is Matt Byrne from Hatebreed.

Craziest tour story.

I think it was 07 Ozz Fest or 06 Ozz Fest somewhere around their end of the night 2:00

a.m. bus call.

We're rolling.

We were on the road for maybe an hour.

I don't know.

And bus driver pulled over to get gas.

And he gets out of the bus and he's walking down the bus you know to.

Go to the pump and everything you hear somebody knocking on one of the bay doors from the

inside.

And it was the generator Bay.

He's like What the hell he's looking through the vents and there's a person in there.

We had a stowaway guy.

I don't know if he was drunk or whatever but the driver realized something was in there

he's like What the hell you.

Unlock the bag and the guy just jumped out ran off.

Never got a story or nothing.

We had a stowaway that just like hid behind the generator driver shows up to leave closes

everything down jumps on the bus.

Man he was.

We were rolling down the road for probably an hour and had no idea it was in there.

Guy could have died.

The Truth About Subliminal Messages - Duration: 4:51.

[♩ INTRO ]

In 1957, an advertising executive from New Jersey announced that he had convinced moviegoers

at a local theater to buy more popcorn using subliminal messaging.

He claimed that 45,000 moviegoers were exposed to flashes of the words "Eat Popcorn"

and "Drink Coca-Cola" on screen during a movie—with the words appearing and disappearing

so quickly that viewers weren't even aware they were there.

And as a result, popcorn sales increased an average of 57.5% and Coke sales increased

18.1%.

He got a lot of attention for this supposedly-scientific test, because those numbers are huge.

It was every advertiser's perfect fantasy and every consumer's worst nightmare.

The idea that we could be constantly influenced by messages we don't even realize we're

getting freaked people out.

Except … the whole thing was a hoax.

It turned out that there hadn't been an increase in popcorn or Coke sales at the theater

in question.

And according to the theater manager, there hadn't been an experiment at all.

But that hasn't stopped us from believing in the power of subliminal messages.

Surveys from 1983, 1994, and 2004 show that about three-quarters of people who are familiar

with subliminal messaging believe that companies use it — and a majority of those people

think that it works.

Thankfully, research doesn't agree.

Subliminal perception is for sure a thing.

We definitely can react to a stimulus even when we can't consciously perceive it.

Which is different from superliminal perception—things that we do consciously perceive, even if we

don't pay direct attention to them, like product placement.

The line in between those two is known as the subjective threshold.

Then, below that, there's the objective threshold—the level at which we don't

perceive or react to the thing.

Subliminal perception research dates back to a book published in 1898, when a psychologist

was looking to confirm the idea of a so-called "sub-waking self."

In a few experiments, he asked about two dozen participants to read numbers or letters on

cards.

But he held the cards so far away that they could only see a blur or small dot.

When forced to choose, participants could usually distinguish between numbers and letters—they

got it right around two-thirds of the time.

And they actually did better than chance at guessing exactly what was on each card.

All of which suggested that they were perceiving the images on some level, even though they

thought they were just guessing.

A 1951 study in the journal Psychological Review found even clearer evidence by conditioning

people to associate certain nonsense words with an electric shock.

Later, when the words were shown to them too briefly to be consciously seen, the researchers

measured greater electrodermal activity for words associated with the shock.

That's a slight change in how well skin conducts electricity, which is associated

with sweating.

In other words, even though subjects believed they hadn't seen anything, their bodies

still anticipated the jolt.

So, we know subliminal perception is real.

But subliminal advertising doesn't really work.

Researchers have done plenty of studies, but no one seems to be able to show any real change

in consumer behavior in response to subliminal ads.

For instance, a 1975 study in the journal Perceptual and Motor Skills flashed the words

"Hershey's Chocolate" over a movie.

But the researchers found that none of the 33 subjects given the message bought Hershey's

in the ten days after the exposure.

There's one exception, though.

A subliminal message can sort of work—but only if you're already motivated to follow

it.

A 2002 study of 81 undergraduates found that they did drink more water when subliminally

primed with words like "dry" and "thirsty" — but if and only if they were already thirsty.

If they weren't, the hidden messages didn't do anything.

In a follow-up experiment in the same study, 35 undergraduates were asked to pick between

sports drinks described as "thirst-quenching" or "electrolyte-restoring".

They were only more likely to prefer the "thirst-quenching" drink if they were subliminally primed with

thirst-related words and were already thirsty.

So subliminal messages aren't going to make you do things you don't want to, but they

might nudge you gently in a direction you're already headed.

It makes sense that subliminal messaging wouldn't drastically impact your behavior.

The message is so subtle that it only has a subtle effect.

Which is good, because subliminal advertising isn't technically illegal in the U.S.

While Australia and the U.K. have laws against it, the U.S. doesn't forbid advertisers

or networks from using it.

That said, a 1979 Supreme Court case ruled that it isn't protected by the First Amendment.

And the Federal Communications Commission's official stance is that it's misleading

and shouldn't be used—and they reserve the right to yank the broadcasting license

of anyone who does.

So nobody likes subliminal advertising; there just hasn't been that much effort put into

stopping it.

Probably because in the end, it isn't that useful.

Advertisers don't really care about sneakily targeting people who are already motivated

to buy their stuff—they'd rather invest in snagging new customers.
