Call of Duty World War II was a return to the old days for the world famous shooter,
and, as tradition will show, the series is still relying heavily on post-release map
packs.
Sure, these aren't just maps, there's a few other things to look forward to for
the DLC pack, so here are four very important details you need to know about Call of Duty
World War II's The Resistance DLC pack.
For the very first entry on this list, I wanted to talk about the staggered release date for
the DLC.
As most know, Call of Duty has a timed-exclusivity deal with Sony so their DLC releases first
on the PlayStation platform before Xbox and PC.
And this one is no different.
Expect The Resistance to land on PS4 right at the end of the month on the 30th of January.
And, on Xbox and PC, the DLC pack will be coming out thirty days later, which will put
it at March first, which is technically two months later, but not really.
These timed exclusivity deals normally release on Thursdays and March the first is on a Thursday,
so there you go.
For you PS4 owners eager to buy, there is no pre-load option as of yet, but there will
likely be one come closer to January 30th since Sony tends to allow for that with the
Call of Duty series.
As far as how big the file size will be for this DLC, we don't know.
It has been rumored to be somewhere in the middle of 9 and 10 gigabytes, but Activision
hasn't told us the exact size as of making this video.
It is worth noting that PlayStation does sometimes include a theme with their timed exclusivity
releases, but none has been announced as of yet.
The only way to buy the DLC right now is with the Season Pass, so no individual purchase
is available, so if you're a little hesitant to see how the DLC turns out, wait until after
the release date before diving in.
At number three on the list I wanted to talk about the brand new zombies map coming to
Call of Duty World War II.
The all-new undead area is called the Darkest Shore and it is set to bring in fog as a new
environmental effect, which will cause your sight to be poorer compared to no fog situations,
yeah, shocker, I know, but it is a nice way to add some novelty to the same old same old
in the game.
The description of the new zombies map is that you will rejoin the heroes as they journey
to an island north of Germany, that is unnamed as of now, to confront the evil scientist
Doktor, with a K, Straub who has set up shop on the island according to new intel.
The island is blanketed in, you guessed it, fog and the four crew members will have to
avoid the dangers of poor sight, fight off some zombies, and uncover the mysteries of
the new island.
Perhaps the most exciting thing going on in this part of the DLC is the new weapon called
the ripsaw, which doubles as a gun and buzzsaw.
There is likely a lot of fun and gore wrapped up all into one with this new hybrid weapon.
There's also a new zombie type that is said to be smarter, likely cooked up by Straub,
and the description said it attacks with, quote, greater purpose.
I'm guessing he'll pursue you a little bit more intently compared to the other zombies.
I know I sound a little cynical when talking about the zombies mode, but they're always
a good time with friends and I hope Sledgehammer continues to improve the mode as the series
moves along.
And at number two on this list are the three brand new maps coming with the Resistance
DLC.
I mentioned the map packs thing in the intro and now we're finally getting right down
to it.
The first new map for the game is called Valkyrie and it is set in the Masurian Woods in east
Prussia.
It was apparently inspired by the eastern front Headquarters, called the Wolf's Lair,
notable for its use in the Soviet invasion by the Germans.
According to Activision this is a medium sized map with a center lane for up close and personal
firefights with plenty of overwatch positions on the side.
The second map, which is a recreation of the Modern Warfare 3 map called Resistance, but
it is now called Occupation.
It is set in the occupied city of Paris by the Nazis during World War II.
In the map are a lot of buildings which mean it will be easy to set up a nice defense,
but do watch out for ambushes by the enemy teams because with all the shelter in the
map, it will be pretty easy to set up.
And for the third map, which is called Anthropoid, there will be yet another large center lane
for out and out firefights, but this time it will be divided by a river.
The sides of the map will have plenty of spots for snipers, so enter the lane at your own
risk.
The map is based in Prague and inspired by operation Anthropoid, saw an attempted assassination
on a high ranking Nazi official during the war.
Activision did say that each map pack would include new maps, as well as recreations and
here we're getting a new version of Resistance, which is the most interesting map, to me.
I like the more claustrophobic maps because it leads to more intense firefights.
And, finally, at number one on the list of 4 very important things you need to know about
the Resistance DLC pack for Call of Duty World War II is the brand new war mode mission.
It's called Operation Intercept and in it you will be sent on an urban rescue mission
in St. Lo, France, to save some Resistance fighters who have been kidnapped on a train.
The first task of the mission is saving those poor souls, and the second thing you have
to do is blow up some communication devices, and finally you'll have to intercept a train.
From the sparse details about this mode, it looks like it will be French forces that you'll
be rescuing, but that is not set in stone yet.
We at least know that you will be working with the French Forces of the Interior to
rescue the kidnapped soldiers, so that is a halfway intelligent assumption.
War mode has been touted as the best part about the latest Call of Duty and I'm not
going to argue with people who say that.
Even though it is similar to Battlefield's Operations mode, I think Activision is right
to put some more chips in War Mode's pile.
And that is the list.
Sorry it wasn't longer, but if I added anything else it would've bogged it down.

once it is announced.
