Flight Attendants. Please be seated for departure.
I just hope I don't regret this trip.
Have you ever been to an event and you feel really awkward?
You're not really sure what to say or who to talk to or what to do?
You just think, okay, I'm going to stand over in the corner.
Maybe you're not really sure what networking even is?
Today, In this video, I'm going to teach you how to network at events like a pro for your
business.
The first part of networking is to understand what it is.
If you want to grow your business and your brand, then you need to make sure that you're
talking to other people about yourself because they aren't going to come find you.
You have to go find them.
If you are at a club, you know popping bottles and drinking it up, normally you might have
like a guy come over to you and say, hey baby, what's up?
You want to chat?
And you might be like, yeah, I want to chat, or are you going to be eww get away from me?
You're kind of creepy.
But at a networking event, you can't look at it that way.
You have to think, okay, I'm at this party.
Want to introduce yourself to people and meet and greet and let them know what you are about
so that you can follow up with them later.
It's not meant to get a ton of business right then.
You're just building a relationship to have something later on, my first tip for networking
at an event for your business is to make sure that you go in with a plan.
If you have certain people that you want to connect with or maybe you have a question
that you want answered, you want to network with those people at the event.
Already have these things prepared.
If it's people that you want to talk to you, if it's questions that you want to have answered
or maybe you want to follow up with somebody later on, this may leave your mind once you
get there and there's a lot going on.
They may be serving drinks or food or talking.
You want to just have a plan of what you're trying to get accomplished there.
If it's 10 business cards or 10 connections or you want to have a videographer or whatever
it is, the list of that going in so one, you don't forget it.
What if you scored an amazing interview with someone that you've been looking up to or
you got to chat with the keynote speaker that was on stage.
The first thing that you're gonna want to do is ask them a question and I can tell you
that when I've met some really big celebrities and people influencers, I'll get up there
and I'm like, Oh my God, I love you.
Okay, so today's the big day and I'm going to meet
Sunny Lenarduzzi.
So I'm so excited.
I think this is going to be like such a game changer for my business, but I'm crying because
I'm so excited and usually I cry but I kind of freeze and
I'm not really sure what to say to them.
So yes, it's really important that you know what you want to say when you're at these
events and what question you really want to have answered.
My second tip is to be able to introduce yourself and 30 seconds like an elevator pitch.
You want to make sure that people know what you do.
You don't get bored by the time that you're done saying it and you don't want to wobble
around about what you're telling them that you do.
You just want to be quick to the point and you're not going to tell them your whole life
story.
Just think about if you were on an elevator, you only had 30 seconds until that elevator
got to the bottom of the ground.
Somebody said, hey, what do you do?
Oh, see you later.
You want to be able to answer that question really quickly so that you can establish a
relationship, get a contact, and then move on to further that relationship after the
event is over.
Tip number three is to have business cards.
Some events will have different ways to keep track of people, but good old fashioned business
card.
You cannot go wrong with that.
If you don't have a business card, how are you going to give people your information
and tell them, Hey, follow me and contact me later.
Tell them what you do, who you are hand it over and say, "Hey, really nice to follow
up with."
You could also get your card so maybe giving them yours and then asking for.
There's is a good way to get their information.
When people give you their business card back, don't just toss it in your purse or your wallet
or your folder and walk off with it.
Actually look at the business card.
Just make a note like, okay, her name's Brandi.
What's a really good idea is to make notes on the business card because you're not going
to remember everything that you talked about.
So if you make notes on the business card and least it will give you some kind of idea
later on when you go to follow up and say, Hey, I remember when we talked about dadada.
If they say that they have three dogs and a kid and they live in Atlanta, Georgia.
Then you would want to put that down.
If that's obviously not something that maybe on their business card so that it kind of
triggers something later on.
Tip number four for networking introduce yourself.
Nobody is coming over to you.
You have to go to them and get their attention.
They may come over to you, but the chances are that they probably aren't, so I would
make eye contact and let them know, hey, I'm looking at you.
I'm talking to you.
When you want that waiter to come to your table, don't you look at them and say, hey,
yeah, drink over a year.
Waiting on my drink.
Same thing at a networking event.
Make eye contact with people.
Smile smiling is a great way.
Get their attention, smile, make eye contact and bring them on
over.
That's probably not how you should do it, but it's
pretty close.
Smiling, making eye contact and not being afraid.
I can't tell you how many times I've gone to events and I kick myself looking back and
saying, man, I wish that I would've went and asked that person for that picture, that autograph,
if I could talk to them later on, maybe vlog with them.
There's been so many opportunities that I wish I would have taken.
Tip number five, any of these new contacts that you're making, don't wait.
The follow up with them, I would follow up with them within a week.
I'm going to social media marketing world.
It's almost a week long event, but it's at least half a week.
I'm traveling part of the week and I know that other people are probably traveling and
then they're going to be exhausted.
They're going to want to take off for the weekend, so the best time to follow up with
them is probably going to be that Monday or Tuesday after the event once I get back because
they're not going to be able to read my emails while I'm there for one.
They'll probably have a lot going on.
They won't remember.
Say "Hey, can we have coffee?
Can we have a chat on the phone?
It was really nice meeting you."
Just warm up the relationship.
Don't say, Hey, here's my program.
If you want to buy it or put them on your email list and just blast them out.
You really need to form a relationship with these people that you're meeting at these
events because these are gonna be your potential clients, your potential customers, and if
they're not your potential clients and customers, they may know someone that can use you.
Now you know how to do a network at business events and start building your relationships
for your brand, but the first thing people are going to do when they find you and get
that business card or talk to you, they're going to go on their phone or when they get
back, when they get that email from you and they're going to search, they're going to
say, hey, who is this chick?
Who is bloggin Brandi?
They're going to go to blogginBrandi.com, and they're going to look at my content.
They're going to go to my social media handles.
They're going to search for me online, and the best way to show up is by looking like
a brand.
When they land on you, you want to look like a uniform business, a uniform brand, very
unique look and feel to you so that they want to come back.
They want to see like this person is a real person, they've got a brand established, they
have a website established.
I can't tell you how many big people as they that don't even have a good looking website.
It's not okay.
I've got you covered.
I have put a branding kit down in the description below so that you can get your colors, your

Okay, so today is my first day in Canada.
I'm such a crybaby.
I know I shouldn't be scared.
So scared here.
I'm by myself.
I just want to change my flight.
So I can come back as soon as possible.
I haven't ate anything.
OMG I haven't ate anything like in the last 24 hours because I was like, oh, just so let
me get to the hotel, they'll settle down.
Well, then my flight was delayed and no one cares.
(Laugh) No one cares.
When you're an entrepreneur, you have to handle business of life - all of this by yourself,
which is why I'm here by myself.
I knew how important this is, what's going to be for my business.
You're making videos.
You're putting them on YouTube and nobody is watching them.
I'm going to teach you exactly how to get more views on your videos.
Maybe whenever, I meet Sunny tomorrow, hopefully
everything will change.
I've just been in this funk or loneliness for so long and don't know where to turn with
my business or my channel.
I was not expecting that.
You're so sweet.
Oh my God.
Don't cry.
