Is Activism Still A Way To Hear Black Voices Today? | The Quad - Duration: 6:41.(slow music)
- Hey everybody, this is Felicia D. Henderson.
Thank you for joining us for another episode of
Office Hours: After the Quad.
This episode was written by Wendy Coolis.
It is entitled March: Book One.
We borrowed that title from the original graphic novel
from the 60s that took a look at the civil rights movement
through the first hand accounts of John Lewis.
So we feel honored to borrow that title.
As you know, every week I'm repping a different HBCU.
I am this week repping Spelman
because I love this cardigan.
But there was also a sweatshirt I loved from Spelman
so you'll see me repping Spelman twice.
Plus I have a lot of good girlfriends
who graduated from there, so I'm happy to do so.
On tonight's episode I'm being joined by
Jazz Raycole and Michelle Defraites
who will talk about their love and friendship for each other
on and off screen.
Episode 206, March: Book One.
The title obviously taken from
John Lewis' comic book of the same name.
It's an amazing episode.
I think that it is the point in the season,
you know we're halfway through,
where absolutely the students are becoming activists.
And we were trying to like, excuse the pun,
march our way toward that so it didn't become like
episode one, it's like and now they're activists.
- Right. - Yeah.
- So we took our time
until we got there to the middle of the season.
And now they have taken themselves to Atlanta State
to let people know how they feel.
When I see those dailies, when I first saw them
I'm like, ooh I didn't mean to be that real,
like it was a little bit frightening.
How did it feel to be there being the ones doing it?
- Good.
- I mean, it was definitely surreal, in a sense,
because you see it on TV.
You see it everywhere.
You know it's happening around you
but to be forced to do it.
- Yes.
- That's really crazy.
And to be forced to watch other people have to do it
and just, you know you're acting
but part of you just wants to be like, ugh.
You just get really worked up about it.
- Have you ever been involved in anything like that before?
- Uh-uh, honestly no. - Mm-hmm.
- On either side.
- Yeah.
- And so just seeing it happen in front of your face,
it's just like, wow.
- Get back to where you belong.
- I belong right here.
Get off me.
- Come on.
It's heavy.
- I've never really understood the magnitude of a riot
until that day and what activism really means.
Like what that entails.
Like really fighting for everything that you believe in.
Because during that scene we're going to blood,
to blows, like we're going in.
I don't know, it shifted my perception of just like,
even the Black Lives Matter movement.
My mom, you know, lived through the 60s and the 70s
and she talks to me about Black Panthers
cause you know she was from Stockton
and Oakland's right there,
and she's talked to me about all that stuff.
But to actually be in that position,
and granted we're just acting,
but when you start doing the character development
of how this person feels
it was completely different being in that moment.
- Mm- hmm.
- And it was tense. It was heavy,
because I think we all wanted to respect each other
and make sure that the respect was known.
Like this is just a scene.
- Right. - Yeah.
- You know what I mean?
We all wanted to make sure everybody was okay and felt safe.
It was interesting.
- That must have been challenging
because you guys are so respectful to each other always,
I find, and yet the moment is feeling so real, you know.
- Yeah.
- So it's like trying to keep that
but this thing is taking over as well.
- And it was three days.
- Yeah.
- It was three days of like, long days.
And you're in it and you're just like,
how do people, like the real activists of the world,
how do they have the stamina and the passion
and the strength to sustain that?
- [Crowd] HBCU's back, back, back. HBCU.
- I'll let the audience in on a little bit of that
back during the days of the pilot.
It feels like so long ago.
(laughs)
- So long ago.
- For real.
- There were a bunch of girls who came in,
young women, for Sydney.
A bunch of young women who came in for Madison
and we find, we like those four or five
possibilities, actresses for Sydney
and these four or five possibilities for Madison,
but what if they don't have any chemistry?
So then we start playing this game as producers
and then the network gets invited into it to
of mix and match.
Let's put these two together.
Well maybe those two would be together.
Now what I'm learning today for the first time
is that even in the hallway while you were waiting your turn
you were doing some mixing and matching of your own.
- [Michelle] Absolutely. - [Jazz] For sure
(laughs)
- [Michelle] But I mean, I've been an actor for a long time
and that's just what you do.
- It's a chemistry thing,
and I think since we have a real friendship
you see a lot of that on the show.
You see a lot of that shifts over.
And we don't have the same issues and problems
that Sydney and Madison have.
We have our own stuff that we have to deal with
and I think it's kind of transferring that
and just kind of substituting this for that.
But at the end of the day, just like our friendship
just like Sydney and Madison, there's a mutual respect.
- Cause you know if you like them
the scene's just gonna be better.
- We worked on our stuff,
we went through and was like okay how about this.
- We were tossing ideas back and forth.
- Yeah we're going back and forth
and like what about this one?
Okay what if you do this?
Okay I like that, yeah let's try this.
- Oh that's so cool.
- Yeah.
- So we really went back and forth.
- And there was no one else that really did that with me.
- No.
- And I read with other people,
like in the hallway practicing,
but we were the only ones that were kind of collaborative.
- Mm-hmm.
- And then we put you guys together
and we got to see all of that not knowing all of that.
(laughs)
- That's the crazy part.
We just did your work for you.
(laughs)
- Oh, and by the way you're welcome.
- Right.
- We're here.
- We're here, the work is done.
- I loved it.
- It's almost like you were watching our lives
because you almost got it so perfectly
on what we're going through.
- Yeah.
- We're kinda getting to show that through our characters.
- You're on Office Hours.
(laughs)
- You're on office hours.
- Thank you guys very much for your time.
I really really appreciate both of you
and I hope you continue to have a good time
for the rest of the season
cause we got some stuff you don't know yet.
- Oohhh.
(laughs)
- We can't wait.
(laughs)

The Lord's Prayer - Part 1 - Enjoying Everyday Life - Duration: 28:34.ANNOUNCER: THIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN MADE POSSIBLE
BY THE FRIENDS AND PARTNERS OF JOYCE MEYER MINISTRIES.
JOYCE: I'LL TELL YA WHAT, WHEN YOU COME TO THE POINT WHERE
YOU KNOW THAT YOU KNOW THAT YOU KNOW THAT YOU KNOW THAT GOD IS
NOT JUST WAY OFF SOMEWHERE, BUT HE IS WITH YOU EVERYWHERE THAT
YOU GO, HE WILL NEVER, NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
[MUSIC]
JOYCE: I BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF PRAYER.
IT'S A HUGE PART OF EVERYTHING WE DO HERE AT THE MINISTRY.
AND TODAY IS A SPECIAL DAY FOR US AT JOYCE MEYER MINISTRIES,
WE CALL IT OUR CELEBRATION OF THE PRAYER BECAUSE WE PUT
A VERY SPECIAL EMPHASIS TODAY ON PRAYING FOR YOUR NEEDS
ALL ACROSS THE MINISTRY.
WE DO THAT ON A REGULAR BASIS BUT TODAY, WE ALL COME TOGETHER
AND WE PRAY FOR THAT.
SO COMING UP, I WANT TO PRAY FOR YOU AND ENCOURAGE YOU BY SHARING
SOME RESPONSES FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVE RECEIVED ANSWERS TO
THEIR PRAYERS.
FIRST, I'D LIKE YOU TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE AMAZING POWERFUL
LORD'S PRAYER.
JOYCE: PRAYER IS THE GREATEST PRIVILEGE THAT WE HAVE.
PRAYER IS NOT JUST A DUTY OR AN OBLIGATION,
IT'S NOT A LAST-DITCH EFFORT.
IT'S NOT, "WELL, I'VE DONE EVERYTHING I KNOW TO DO.
I GUESS ALL I CAN DO IS PRAY."
PRAYER SHOULD BE OUR VERY FIRST LINE OF DEFENSE.
BUT YOU HAVE TO HAVE FAITH AND CONFIDENCE IN THE POWER
OF PRAYER, AND YOU NEED TO BELIEVE THAT GOD HEARS YOU.
AND EVEN IF YOU DON'T GET SOME KIND OF AN OUTSTANDING
BREAKTHROUGH IMMEDIATELY, YOU STILL NEED TO BELIEVE
THAT WHEN YOU PRAY, THAT GOD GOES TO WORK
IN YOUR LIFE, AND AT THE RIGHT TIME YOU WILL SEE CHANGE.
AND I THINK A LOT OF US WONDER, "WELL, WHAT IS THE RIGHT WAY
TO PRAY?" AND THE DISCIPLES ACTUALLY
HAD THE SAME QUESTION, SO IN LUKE CHAPTER 11, THEY SAID,
"LORD, TEACH US TO PRAY."
AND JESUS SAID, "WHEN YOU PRAY, PRAY LIKE THIS.
'OUR FATHER WHO IS IN HEAVEN, HOLY IS YOUR NAME.
YOUR KINGDOM COME, YOUR WILL BE DONE IN EARTH
AS IT IS IN HEAVEN.
GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD.
FORGIVE US OUR SINS AS WE FORGIVE THOSE WHO HAVE SINNED
AGAINST US.
LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION, BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
FOR YOURS IS THE KINGDOM, THE POWER, AND THE GLORY, AMEN.'"
WELL, THAT TOOK ALL OF ABOUT 30 SECONDS.
AND EVERY DENOMINATION AROUND THE WORLD PRAYS THAT PRAYER.
THERE'S PROBABLY NOT ONE OF YOU IN HERE TONIGHT THAT DID NOT
RECOGNIZE THAT PRAYER.
IN 40 YEARS OF TEACHING, I'VE NEVER TAUGHT
ON THE LORD'S PRAYER.
AND I WALK IN THE MORNINGS, AND I PRAY, AND I DON'T KNOW WHY,
BUT I GET A LOT OF GREAT, ANOINTED, CREATIVE IDEAS
WHEN I'M WALKING.
AND A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO, I WAS PRAYING THE LORD'S PRAYER,
AND GOD BEGAN TO JUST TAKE IT APART FOR ME AND SHOW ME
JUST REALLY HOW AMAZINGLY POWERFUL THIS PRAYER IS.
AND I FELT VERY COMPELLED THAT I WAS TO TEACH ON THIS PRAYER.
AND I THINK AFTER HEARING THIS TEACHING TONIGHT, THAT YOU WILL
NEVER AGAIN PRAY WHAT WE CALL THE LORD'S PRAYER AND IT NOT
MEAN SOMETHING A GREAT DEAL MORE TO YOU THAN IT MIGHT RIGHT NOW.
SO, WE'RE ALL GOING TO PRAY THIS TOGETHER, WE'RE GOING TO PUT IT
UP ON THE SCREENS.
ARE YOU READY?
LET'S GO, "OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN, HALLOWED BE YOUR NAME.
YOUR KINGDOM COME, YOUR WILL BE DONE AS IT IS IN HEAVEN.
GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD, AND FORGIVE US OUR DEBTS
AS WE FORGIVE OUR DEBTORS.
AND DO NOT LEAD US INTO TEMPTATION, BUT DELIVER US
FROM THE EVIL ONE.
FOR YOURS IS THE KINGDOM AND THE POWER AND THE GLORY FOREVER,
AMEN."
NOW, OUR FATHER WHO IS IN HEAVEN.
IF I DON'T WORK AT IT, I COULD NEVER--I'D SPEND THE WHOLE NIGHT
TALKING ABOUT THE FIRST SENTENCE OF THIS PRAYER, OUR FATHER.
GOD IS OUR FATHER, OUR FATHER.
AND THAT'S ESPECIALLY GOOD NEWS TO THOSE WHO HAD AN ABSENT
FATHER, OR NO FATHER, OR EVEN WORSE A BAD FATHER.
I THINK HONESTLY, LIKE THE SITUATION I WAS IN AND MANY
OF YOU HAD SIMILAR SITUATIONS, YOU WERE MISTREATED GROWING UP,
OR MAYBE YOU WEREN'T LOVED, AND MAYBE SOMEBODY YELLED AT YOU
ALL THE TIME, MAYBE YOU WERE HIT OR PUNISHED
UNFAIRLY, MAYBE YOU WERE SEXUALLY ABUSED LIKE I WAS.
BUT I WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER OFF TO HAVE HAD AN ABSENT FATHER
RATHER THAN THE ONE THAT I HAD.
AND SO, I HAVE NO FRAME OF REFERENCE AT ALL FOR WHAT IT
WOULD BE LIKE TO HAVE A LOVING EARTHLY FATHER.
NOW, THOSE OF YOU WHO HAD A GREAT DAD, YOU SHOULD APPRECIATE
HIM, AND YOU SHOULD TELL HIM HOW MUCH YOU APPRECIATE HIM, AND YOU
SHOULD LET HIM KNOW THAT YOU'RE GRATEFUL FOR THE WAY THAT HE
RAISED YOU BECAUSE NOT ALL OF US HAD THAT OPPORTUNITY
IN OUR LIFE.
BUT GOD ALWAYS WANTS TO BE ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING TO US
THAT WE MIGHT HAVE MISSED IN THE NATURAL.
AND THE BIBLE SAYS IN PSALM 27:10,
"EVEN THOUGH MY MOTHER AND MY FATHER HAVE FORSAKEN ME,
THE LORD WILL TAKE ME UP AND ADOPT ME AS HIS OWN CHILD."
SO, GUESS WHAT?
YOU ALL HAVE A LOVING FATHER.
MY DADDY LOVES ME, CAN YOU SHOUT THAT OUT?
MY DADDY LOVES ME, AMEN.
THERE ARE 63 SCRIPTURES IN THE BIBLE THAT MAKE REFERENCE
TO THE FATHERHOOD OF GOD.
WE'RE GOING TO LOOK AT JUST A FEW OF THEM.
1 CORINTHIANS 8:6, NEW AMERICAN STANDARD SAYS,
"YET FOR US THERE IS BUT ONE GOD, THE FATHER, FROM WHOM
ARE ALL THINGS AND WE EXIST FOR HIM."
I LOVE THAT, "AND WE EXIST FOR HIM."
WE EXIST FOR HIM.
WE EXIST FOR HIM, AMEN?
"AND ONE LORD, JESUS CHRIST, BY WHOM ARE ALL THINGS,
AND WE EXIST THROUGH HIM."
NOW, ROMANS 11:36 IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SCRIPTURES.
I LOVE ROMANS 11:36.
AND I OPEN THIS UP SOMETIMES, I DID THIS LAST WEEK, AND
I JUST LOOK AT IT AND I JUST-- I JUST SHAKE MY HEAD BECAUSE
IT'S JUST SO POWERFUL.
ROMANS 11:36, "FOR FROM HIM AND THROUGH HIM AND TO HIM
ARE ALL THINGS.
FOR ALL THINGS ORIGINATE WITH HIM AND COME FROM HIM."
GOD OUR FATHER IS THE SOURCE OF ALL THINGS.
EVERYTHING THAT WE NEED IS WRAPPED UP IN HIM.
ALL THINGS LIVE THROUGH HIM.
EVERYTHING THAT'S ALIVE IS ALIVE BECAUSE GOD GAVE IT LIFE.
"AND ALL THINGS CENTER IN AND TEND TO CONSUMMATE AND TO END
IN HIM.
TO HIM BE THE GLORY FOREVER, AMEN."
NOW, ALTHOUGH THIS MESSAGE TONIGHT MIGHT BE CONSIDERED
A LITTLE MORE SPIRITUAL, IT IS ALSO VERY PRACTICAL
BECAUSE WHEN YOU REALLY KNOW WHO GOD IS,
AND THAT HE'S FOR YOU, THAT HE'S NEVER AGAINST YOU,
THAT HE LOVES YOU, AND THAT HE IS THE SOURCE OF
EVERYTHING THAT YOU NEED, BOY DOES LIFE EVER GET GOOD
AND EXCITING.
YOU HAVE A FATHER WHO LOVES YOU, AND NOBODY BETTER GET IN HIS WAY
WHEN IT COMES TO HIS KIDS.
FROM HIM AND THROUGH HIM AND TO HIM ARE ALL THINGS.
IN OTHER WORDS, IT'S JUST ALL ABOUT HIM, ISN'T IT?
YOU KNOW, WHEN WE GET IN TROUBLE IS WHEN IT BECOMES ALL ABOUT ME
INSTEAD OF ALL ABOUT HE, AMEN?
ISAIAH 64:8, NEW AMERICAN STANDARD,
"BUT NOW, O LORD, YOU ARE OUR FATHER.
WE ARE THE CLAY AND YOU ARE THE POTTER."
WE ARE THE CLAY AND YOU ARE THE POTTER.
WE ARE THE CLAY.
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: SO GOD, YOU CAN TAKE US AND JUST DO WHATEVER YOU
WANT TO WITH US, AND IT'S REALLY NONE OF OUR BUSINESS.
WE'RE NOT HERE TO BOSS YOU AROUND.
"AND ALL OF US ARE THE WORK OF YOUR HAND."
I'LL TELL YOU, ANY ONE OF YOU WHO FEELS BAD ABOUT YOURSELF
TONIGHT, I JUST WISH THAT I COULD UNZIP YOU AND FILL YOU
FULL OF PSALM 139 THAT SAYS, "IN OUR MOTHER'S WOMB,
HE CREATED US WITH HIS OWN HAND.
INTRICATELY AND CURIOUSLY, IN SECRET HE CREATED US
AND FORMED US."
AND GOD LOOKED AT EVERYTHING THAT HE MADE AND SAID,
"IT IS GOOD."
IT IS GOOD.
DON'T EVER LET ANYBODY TELL YOU THAT YOU'RE NO GOOD.
DON'T EVER LET ANYBODY TELL YOU THAT YOU WERE AN ACCIDENT,
THEY DIDN'T WANT YOU.
EVEN IF YOUR PARENTS DIDN'T PLAN TO HAVE YOU, GOD PLANNED
TO HAVE YOU.
AND HE'S GOT A PURPOSE FOR YOU, AND A PLAN FOR YOU,
AND HE IS YOUR FATHER.
YOU HAVE SOMEBODY ON YOUR SIDE THAT IS THE BIGGEST OF THE
BIGGEST OF THEM ALL.
YOU KNOW, I CAN REMEMBER OUR SON DANIEL, WHEN HE WOULD
PLAY OUTSIDE.
YOU KNOW, HIS DAD'S A PRETTY BIG GUY, 6'4, 6'4 AND A HALF,
PRETTY MUSCULAR.
AND YOU KNOW, WHEN THE NEIGHBORHOOD BULLY WOULD GET
AFTER DANNY, HE'D COME SCREAMING TOWARD THE HOUSE, "DADDY."
AND THAT WAS PRETTY MUCH ALL THERE WAS TO IT BECAUSE DAVE
SOMETIMES LOOKED AT ME LIKE HE WAS GOING TO TEAR THE DOOR OFF
THE HINGES GETTING OUT TO HIS KID TO MAKE SURE THAT NOBODY
HURT HIM.
AND LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING, YOUR FATHER HAS THE SAME
ATTITUDE TOWARD YOU.
AND I REMEMBER WITH DANNY, HE WAS NOT--HE WAS JUST A REAL
HAPPY, SANGUINE--THE TEACHERS WOULD SAY THAT HE HAD OVERLY
DEVELOPED SOCIAL SKILLS.
THAT MEANT THAT HE JUST TALKED WAY TOO MUCH.
AND HE JUST THOUGHT EVERYTHING WAS A PARTY, AND SO, YOU KNOW,
WE WERE TRYING TO TRAIN HIM TO BE RESPONSIBLE IN LIFE.
AND HE HAD A LIST OF CHORES WRITTEN ON A PIECE OF PAPER,
THEY WERE ON HIS DOOR.
AND WHEN HE DID THEM, HE GOT A LITTLE CHECK MARKS.
AND IF HE GOT ENOUGH CHECK MARKS, HE GOT STARS.
AND WHEN HE GOT SO MANY STARS, THEN HE GOT A PRESENT.
BUT YOU KNOW, NOT ONE TIME WHEN HE WOULD SCREAM FOR HELP DID
DAVE EVER STAND UP AND SAY, "JOYCE, I HEAR OUR SON
SCREAMING.
WOULD YOU GO DOWNSTAIRS AND CHECK THE CHART?"
[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]
JOYCE: COME ON, WHEN YOU NEED HELP,
YOUR FATHER, YOUR DADDY GOD, DOES NOT GO CHECK YOUR CHART TO
MAKE SURE THAT YOU GOT ALL THE RIGHT CHECK MARKS ON IT BEFORE
HE DECIDES TO HELP YOU.
HE IS YOUR FATHER AND HE LOVES YOU.
IT'S JUST LIKE SNUGGLING.
HOW MANY OF YOU GOT A NICE, FUZZY BLANKET YOU LOVE?
THAT'S THE WAY THIS PART OF THIS PRAYER FEELS TO ME,
IT'S JUST LIKE...
SEE, TO BE HONEST, BECAUSE OF THE SEXUAL ABUSE, I NEVER
ONE TIME IN MY WHOLE LIFE EVER REMEMBER COMFORTABLY SITTING
ON MY FATHER'S LAP.
THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS THAT I MISSED AND MANY OF YOU MISSED
THAT WE DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT IT WAS THAT WE MISSED BECAUSE
THERE'S NO FRAME OF REFERENCE OUT THERE FOR IT.
BUT LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING, GOD WILL GIVE YOU A DOUBLE
RECOMPENSE, A DOUBLE REWARD FOR ANYTHING THAT YOU MISSED.
AND GOD HAS INVITED US INTO INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM.
JEREMIAH 3:19, "THEN SAID I," THIS IS GOD SPEAKING THROUGH
JEREMIAH, "'HOW I WOULD SET YOU AMONG MY SONS AND GIVE YOU
A PLEASANT LAND, THE MOST BEAUTIFUL INHERITANCE
OF THE NATIONS.' AND I SAID, 'YOU SHALL CALL ME,
MY FATHER, MY FATHER.
AND YOU SHALL NOT TURN AWAY FROM FOLLOWING ME.'"
2 CORINTHIANS 6:18, "'AND I WILL BE A FATHER TO YOU,
AND YOU SHALL BE SONS AND DAUGHTERS TO ME,'
SAYS THE LORD ALMIGHTY."
AND ONE LAST ONE, ROMANS 8:15, "FOR YOU HAVE NOT RECEIVED
A SPIRIT OF SLAVERY LEADING TO FEAR AGAIN, BUT YOU HAVE
RECEIVED A SPIRIT OF ADOPTION AS SONS BY WHICH WE CRY OUT,
'ABBA! FATHER!'" ABBA IS AN ARAMAIC WORD
THAT MOST CLOSELY IS DEFINED IN ENGLISH AS DADDY.
ABBA FATHER, DADDY GOD.
AMEN.
WELL, WHAT DO FATHERS DO?
WELL, THEY PROVIDE, THEY NURTURE, THEY TRAIN,
THEY COMFORT, THEY ENCOURAGE, AND THEY CORRECT.
BUT EVERYTHING THAT THEY DO, EVERYTHING THEY DO IS DONE
FOR YOUR GOOD.
AND IT'S HARD AS A CHILD WHEN YOUR PARENT SAYS,
"I KNOW YOU DON'T GET IT NOW, BUT I'M JUST DOING THIS
FOR YOUR OWN GOOD."
EVEN WHEN THEY PUNISH YOU OR TAKE SOMETHING AWAY
THAT YOU WANT, AND THEY SAY, "I'M DOING THIS FOR YOUR GOOD,
YOU JUST DON'T GET IT," AND IT'S THE SAME WAY WITH GOD.
SOMETIMES, HE DOESN'T LET US DO THE THINGS THAT WE WANT TO DO,
AND IT'S FOR OUR OWN GOOD.
AND WE NEED TO TRUST THAT, JUST LIKE WE WANT OUR CHILDREN
TO TRUST US.
NOW, I DON'T KNOW WHO IT'S GOING TO BE, OR HOW MANY PEOPLE
IT'S GOING TO BE, OR IF YOU'RE IN THIS BUILDING TONIGHT,
IF YOU'RE WATCHING BY TELEVISION, BUT I CAN
TELL YOU THAT THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE WHOSE LIVES ARE GOING
TO BE TOTALLY TURNED UPSIDE DOWN AND PUT IN THE RIGHT PLACE
JUST BY UNDERSTANDING TONIGHT THAT GOD IS YOUR FATHER,
YOUR DADDY GOD.
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: "OUR FATHER," I LOVE IT,
"WHO IS IN HEAVEN."
GOD IS ON HIS THRONE IN HEAVEN.
BUT YOU KNOW, GOD LIVES IN TWO PLACES.
HE LIVES ON HIS THRONE IN HEAVEN, BUT HE ALSO LIVES
ON THE THRONE OF OUR HEARTS.
HOW MUCH CLOSER CAN YOU GET THAN INSIDE?
YOU KNOW, IT SEEMS TO ME THAT RELIGION IS ALL ABOUT ME TRYING
TO REACH GOD, BUT CHRISTIANITY IS ABOUT CHRIST REACHING DOWN
TO US.
HE LIVES IN YOU IF YOU'RE A BELIEVER.
CHRIST IN ME, THE HOPE OF GLORY.
YOU ARE THE HOME OF ALMIGHTY GOD.
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: WE ARE HIS HOUSE.
THE BIBLE SAYS IN 2 CORINTHIANS 3:16
THAT, COLLECTIVELY AS A BODY AND INDIVIDUALLY,
WE ARE THE HOME OF GOD.
WHEN YOU GO HOME TONIGHT, YOU TAKE JESUS HOME WITH YOU BECAUSE
HE SAID, "I'LL NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU."
"OUR FATHER, WHO ART IN HEAVEN," BUT WHO ALSO CAME DOWN TO REDEEM
ME, TO TOUCH ME, TO HEAL ME FROM MY LONELINESS AND MY BROKENNESS,
TO SAVE ME, TO ENERGIZE ME AND TO GIVE ME A LIFE WORTH LIVING.
AMEN?
THE GREATEST THING THAT HAPPENED TO ME WHEN GOD TOUCHED MY LIFE
IN 1976, I HAD BEEN A BELIEVER FOR A LONG TIME, BUT I HAD NO
INTIMACY, NO CLOSENESS WITH GOD.
AND YOU KNOW, BACK IN THE '70S AND '80S, THERE WAS A GREAT MOVE
OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, AND A LOT OF PEOPLE WERE BEING FILLED
WITH THE SPIRIT, OR TOUCHED BY THE POWER OF GOD, OR WHATEVER
TERMINOLOGY YOU WANT TO PUT ON IT.
AND I DON'T GLORIFY EXPERIENCES, BUT I'LL TELL YOU WHAT,
WHEN YOU COME TO THE POINT WHERE YOU KNOW THAT YOU KNOW
THAT YOU KNOW THAT YOU KNOW THAT GOD IS NOT JUST WAY OFF
SOMEWHERE, BUT HE IS WITH YOU EVERYWHERE THAT YOU GO,
HE WILL NEVER, NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU,
YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
HERE IT COMES, "HOLY IS YOUR NAME."
I MAY GET RAPTURED TONIGHT, I DON'T KNOW.
I MEAN, I GOT SO STINKING EXCITED WHEN I WAS STUDYING
FOR THIS.
CAN I TELL YOU SOMETHING?
AND I MEAN THIS WITH ALL LOVE AND RESPECT.
WE HAVE HEARD SO MUCH ABOUT THE LOVE OF GOD AND THE GRACE OF GOD
AND THE MERCY OF GOD, AND I PREACH IT ALL THE TIME.
BUT I THINK WE ALSO BETTER HEAR ABOUT THE HOLINESS OF GOD,
AND THE JUDGMENT OF GOD, AND THE REVERENTIAL FEAR
AND AWE OF GOD, THAT IF IT DOESN'T COME BACK
TO THE CHURCH, WE ARE IN SERIOUS TROUBLE IN THE TIMES
THAT WE'RE LIVING IN.
AMEN?
YES, GOD LOVES US.
AND BECAUSE HE LOVES US, WE CAN LIVE A SUPERIOR, HIGHER LIFE.
WE DON'T HAVE TO JUST--WE HAVE THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT,
NOT JUST TO GIVE US A FEW GOOSEBUMPS AND A FUNNY LANGUAGE
TO PRAY IN, BUT WE HAVE THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
TO ENABLE US TO CONQUER SIN AND TO LIVE FOR THE GLORY OF GOD.
JOYCE: WELL, PRAYER TRULY IS THE GREATEST PRIVILEGE THAT WE
HAVE AS BELIEVERS.
GOD'S WORD IS FULL OF PROMISES FOR OUR LIFE AND OUR
HEAVENLY FATHER WANTS US TO TURN TO HIM WITH EVERY
NEED THAT WE HAVE.
AT JOYCE MEYER MINISTRIES, WE PRAY OVER EVERY PRAYER REQUEST
THAT WE RECEIVE AND THEN THAT REQUEST STAYS IN OUR PRAYER ROOM
FOR A FULL 30 DAYS BEING BATHED IN PRAYER AND INTERCESSION
EACH DAY.
TODAY, WE'RE GONNA GO A LITTLE STEP FURTHER.
YOU'VE SENT IN MANY REQUESTS AND EVERY ONE OF OUR DEPARTMENTS IS
SETTING TIME ASIDE TODAY TO PRAY OVER THEM AND TO THANK GOD FOR
WHAT HE'S DOING IN ALL OF OUR LIVES.
WE ARE CELEBRATING YOUR VICTORY FOR SOME OF YOU, BEFORE YOU EVEN
GET IT, BUT WE BELIEVE THAT GOD IS GONNA WORK.
AND GINGER'S HERE WITH ME AND YOU CAN SEE THIS TABLE IS
FULL OF PRAYER REQUESTS, WHICH REPRESENT ONLY A TINY FRACTION
OF THE NEEDS THAT HAVE COME IN.
SO, WE'RE GONNA TALK ABOUT PRAYER FOR A MINUTE THEN
I'M GONNA PRAY FOR YOU.
WELL, YOU KNOW, GINGER, IT'S AMAZING, REALLY, HOW MANY
PROBLEMS THAT WE ALL ENCOUNTER AND DEAL WITH.
GINGER: VERY TRUE, YEAH.
JOYCE: ON A REGULAR BASIS.
IT WOULD BE AN INTERESTING THING TO TAKE A WHOLE YEAR AND JUST
KIND OF JOT DOWN EVERY PROBLEM AND EVERY CHALLENGE THAT YOU
HAVE AND THEN REALIZE HOW MANY PRAYERS GOD DOES ANSWER.
I THINK SOMETIMES WE FOCUS ON THE ONES THAT AREN'T BE ANSWERED
YET WITHOUT REALIZING HOW MANY THINGS GOD DOES FOR US.
WOW, WHAT KIND OF MESS WOULD WE BE IN IF WE DIDN'T KNOW
HOW TO PRAY?
GINGER: OH, I THINK OF ALL THOSE LITTLE THINGS BECAUSE
IT'S REALLY JUST A CONTINUAL CONVERSATION WITH GOD
THROUGHOUT THE DAY.
IT MAY BE, "HELP ME GET TO WORK ON TIME."
IT MAY BE BIGGER THINGS, LIKE YOU SAID, THAT YOU'RE NOT--LIKE
YOU'RE PRAYING FOR THE SALVATION OF A LOVED ONE AND YOU'VE DONE
IT FOR MANY YEARS.
BUT GOD IS ALWAYS ANSWERING OUR PRAYERS AND THAT'S WHY TODAY,
WE CALL A CELEBRATION OF PRAYER BECAUSE WE DO NEED TO BE
CELEBRATING THE LOVE OF A GOD WHO CARES ENOUGH TO LISTEN TO US
ALL THE TIME, WHO ALWAYS HAS THE BEST IN MIND FOR US.
AND WHEN YOU SEE ALL THESE PRAYER REQUESTS, LIKE YOU SAID,
THERE ARE A LOT OF NEEDS OUT THERE.
PEOPLE ARE FILLING OUT THESE THINGS AND SENDING THEM IN
SO WE'VE BEEN PRAYING.
OUR PRAYER ROOM PRAYS ALL THE TIME, BUT WE'VE SEEN SOME
WONDERFUL THINGS THAT GOD HAS BEEN DOING.
JOYCE: WELL, I KNOW I'VE GOT A COUPLE OF TESTIMONIES HERE AND
YOU'VE GOT A COUPLE SO LET--WE JUST WANT TO ENCOURAGE YOU WITH
A FEW TESTIMONIES.
YOU KNOW, WHEN--IT'S GOOD TO HEAR WHAT GOD'S DOING IN OTHER
PEOPLE'S LIVES BECAUSE THEN IT ENCOURAGES US THAT HE'LL DO THAT
FOR US TOO.
"REBECCA'S SON MATTHEW CONTACTED JOYCE MEYER MINISTRIES
REQUESTING PRAYER FOR HIS FATHER MICHAEL WHO WAS ON HIS DEATH BED
BECAUSE OF VIBRIO, AN INFECTION HE RECEIVED FROM SWIMMING IN
THE OCEAN IN FLORIDA.
AND YOUR MINISTRY SENT A MESSAGE WITH A BE HEALED PRAYER AND IT
WAS A WOW MOMENT FOR ALL OF US," WRITES REBECCA.
"MICHAEL IS HOME TODAY AND DOING WELL BECAUSE OF YOUR PRAYERS
AND THE PRAYERS OF SO MANY CLOSE TO HIM.
HE STILL HAS A WAYS TO GO BUT THROUGH PRAYER, GOD HAS TOUCHED
OUR LIVES AND IS HEALING HIM.
WE WILL PRAISE GOD FOREVER.
THANK YOU."
YOU KNOW, GOD IS IN THE HEALING BUSINESS, AND HEALING SOMETIMES
TAKES TIME, BUT EVEN IF YOU GO TO THE DOCTOR AND YOU'RE TAKING
MEDICINE AND YOU THINK IT HELPS YOU, I DON'T THINK THAT
ANYTHING'S GONNA HELP US UNLESS GOD WORKS THROUGH IT SO WE
ALWAYS WANT TO GIVE HIM THE CREDIT.
GINGER: THAT'S RIGHT.
HERE'S ONE FROM ELLEN IN NORTH CAROLINA.
SHE SAYS, "LAST YEAR DURING YOUR CELEBRATION OF PRAYER, I ASKED
YOUR MINISTRY TO PRAY FOR MY GRANDSON MILES BECAUSE HE'S HAD
A HARD TIME KEEPING FOOD DOWN.
THANK YOU SO MUCH BECAUSE HE'S GETTING BETTER.
HE'S MUCH BETTER THAN HE'S BEEN IN A VERY LONG TIME.
THE POWER OF PRAYER, THANKS TO JESUS WHO IS ALWAYS SO GOOD."
JOYCE: THAT'S GOOD.
YOU KNOW, SO OFTEN WE ASK GOD FOR THINGS AND THEN WE REALLY
FORGET TO GO BACK AND THANK GOD OR CELEBRATE WHAT HE HAS BEEN
DOING IN OUR LIVES.
SO, HERE'S ONE MORE AND THEN GINGER WILL SHARE ONE MORE,
AND THEN I'M GONNA PRAY FOR YOU GUYS.
MILTON CALLED OUR PRAYER LINE TO ASK A REPRESENTATIVE TO PRAY
ABOUT A BONDAGE TO DRUGS THAT NEEDED TO BE BROKEN OFF
HIS LIFE.
"WELL, I WANT TO THANK THE PERSON WHO PRAYED FOR ME,"
HE SAID.
"PRAISE GOD, I'VE BEEN DELIVERED FROM THE ADDICTION TO DRUGS.
I MAY NEVER BE ABLE TO MEET THE WOMAN WHO PRAYED FOR ME, BUT
PLEASE PASS ON MY GRATITUDE."
AND, YOU KNOW, I REALLY APPRECIATE THE PEOPLE THAT ARE
ON OUR PHONES HERE, AND THE PEOPLE THAT ANSWER OUR EMAILS,
AND THE THINGS THAT COME IN THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA.
WE HAVE A TEAM OF PEOPLE THAT REALLY CARE ABOUT PEOPLE AND
IT'S JUST AMAZING WHAT A GOOD FAITH-FILLED PRAYER CAN DO IN
SOMEBODY'S LIFE.
GINGER: YEAH, WE ALL NEED THAT EXTRA HELP SOMETIMES.
WE NEED SOMEONE TO PRAY WITH US AND GOD SAYS WHERE TWO OR MORE
ARE GATHERED, HE'S IN THE MIDST AND HE'S LISTENING.
THIS IS ONE FROM ALASKA.
GREG SAYS, "I HAVE A PRAISE REPORT TO SHARE WITH YOU.
I'VE SUFFERED WITH MIGRAINE HEADACHES FOR SEVERAL YEARS.
I WAS WATCHING YOUR PROGRAM RECENTLY AND RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE
OF YOUR MESSAGE, YOU STOPPED AND PRAYED FOR PEOPLE WITH
MIGRAINE HEADACHES.
I IMMEDIATELY STOOD UP AND WHILE YOU PRAYED A SHORT AND VERY
DIRECT PRAYER AND WHILE YOU WERE STILL SPEAKING, I COULD FEEL
THE RELIEF BEGINNING."
AND HE GOES ON TO SAY FOR THE FIRST TIME IN YEARS HE'S WITHOUT
PAIN FROM THOSE HEADACHES.
JOYCE: OH, THAT'S AMAZING.
GINGER: YOU KNOW, SOMETIMES WE HEAR THESE AND WE ALMOST GET
A JEALOUSY.
WE THINK, "WHY NOT ME?" IF I HAVEN'T HEARD THAT ANSWER
YET.
BUT INSTEAD OF, IF WE'RE ABLE TO SEE WHAT GOD IS DOING, THE POWER
OF GOD THAT'S AVAILABLE IN OUR LIFE TOO, AND TO CONTINUE
PRAYING, NOT GETTING FRUSTRATED, WHICH IS NOT ALWAYS EASY,

SEND IN OR MAYBE THEY DIDN'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT THIS SPECIAL
DAY, I PRAY THAT YOU WOULD TOUCH EVERY PERSON THAT SENT IN A
REQUEST OR IS WATCHING RIGHT NOW THAT YOU WOULD HEAL SICKNESS
AND DISEASE, THAT YOU WOULD GIVE HOPE WHERE PEOPLE ARE HOPELESS.
I ASK YOU TO GIVE PEOPLE ANSWERS TO BRING SALVATION TO THEIR
LOVED ONES, TO PROVIDE EMPLOYMENT FOR THOSE WHO
NEED IT.
WHATEVER THE SITUATION IS, GOD, WE KNOW THAT YOU ARE OUR ANSWER.
AND WE KNOW THAT WE NEED TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE
EFFECTIVENESS OF PRAYER AND EVEN HOW TO PRAY MORE EFFECTIVELY
AND WE ASK YOU TO TEACH US THAT.
IN JESUS' NAME, AMEN.
AND, YOU KNOW, WE HAVE A SPECIAL BOOK THAT WE WANT TO GIVE YOU
TODAY AND IT'S A FREE GIFT TO YOU.
ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS REQUEST IT AND IT'S JUST CALLED
"HOW TO PRAY."
IT'S A SPECIAL BOOK THAT WE PUT TOGETHER AND I BELIEVE THAT
YOU'RE REALLY GOING TO ENJOY IT.

Jim Rohn - Don't Limit Yourself, Achieve More Now (Jim Rohn Motivation) - Duration: 13:42.Jim Rohn: it was hard for me to give up my old blame list it was so comfortable blaming
the government and blaming my negative relatives and the company company policy
unions wage scale economy interest rates prices and circumstances and all that
that was difficult for me to give up that was quite a transition for me to
make and blaming myself but mr. Schultz started out with something very very
important let me give that to you he said it's not what happens that
determines the major part of your future it's not what happens what happens
happens to us all he said the key is what you do about it's not what happens
it's what you do about it and he said if you will start that process of change do
something different the next 90 days than you did the last 90 days like
picking up the books to read do something different like the new health
disciplines relationship with your family whatever it is doesn't matter how
small it is if you'll start doing different things with the same
circumstances since we cannot change the circumstances but we can change
ourselves we can change what we do and then he gave me another secret to
success when he said what you have at the moment mr. own you've attracted by
the person you've become what you have at the moment you've attracted by the
person you've become few little simple principles here once you understand
these it starts to explain so much now sometimes it's a little tough to take
blaming yourself instead of the marketplace taking responsibility
instead of putting it off on someone else those that transition sometimes is
a challenging mission and this one was a little tough for me he said mr. Owen
you've got pennies in your pocket you've got nothing in the bank the creditors
are calling you're behind on your promises he says here's how that occurs
you've attracted up until now you've attracted the things to you because of
the person you've become now I said well how can I change all that he said very
simple if you will change everything will change for you
you don't have to change what's outside all you've got to change is what's
inside to have more you simply have to become
more and then he said don't wish it was easier wish you were better don't wish
for less problems wish for more Skills start working on yourself making these
personal changes he said it'll all change for you so let's talk a little
bit about personal development that extraordinary adventure I undertook
starting at age 25 and I've never ceased that adventure I'm still going for it in
the 90s I want to get better and better I want my craft to get better my
business operations to get better the things I do to get better because once I
picked up this simple formula telling it's easy to figure out where the
problem is you go to work on it now let's talk about personal development
and in helping kids understand personal development I always start with money
now money's not the only place to start money certainly isn't the only value but
we've all got to start somewhere money something you can count all right kids
are interested in money okay a lot of things are a little tougher to measure
but economics is pretty easy right because you can count ok somebody says
how are you doing he's I don't know let's count now this is not the only
count I understand that there's a lot of other things to count but to see if
there may be some errors in your judgment and lack of disciplines in your
life we might as well start with money because it's so easy
so let's just start there and see whether or not maybe we have it stop
okay so here's how I explained it to kids we get paid for bringing value to
the marketplace key to understanding economics we get paid for bringing value
to the marketplace marketplace is also described as reality
reality the marketplace now it takes time it takes time to bring
value to the marketplace but we don't get paid for time it's very important
for kids to understand as well as adults we don't get paid for time mistakenly
the man says well I'm making about $20 for an hour not true not true if that
was true you could just stay home have them send your money no it's not true
you don't get paid for the hour you get paid for the value you put in the time
so we don't get paid for time we get paid for value now since that's true
here's one of the key questions of the afternoon
is it possible to become twice as valuable and make twice as much money in
the same time is it possible to become three times as valuable as you now are
and make three times as much money in the same time is that possible of course
if you want to really emphasize something that's a good phrase of course
of course
now all you have to do to earn more money in
the same time and simply become more valuable America is unique it's a ladder
to climb starts down here what about $4 an hour big argument last year in
Congress about this starting place should be 555 should be 5
well no doesn t be 5 why not start with 4 it's a ladder it's not a bed this is a
ladder a ladder to climb starts at $4 now summer signal should be 5 should be
5 well maybe if you're gonna stay at the bottom for the rest of your life and
probably should be fine
but that's kind of a pitiful way to live start not grow start not change start
and not become more valuable okay the whole scenario of life is to start
number one and what become more valuable number two so America is a ladder to
climb it starts at $4 an hour and the more valuable you become you just keep
moving up the ladder top income last year what 52 million guy that runs
Disney what a company pay somebody for one years work fifty two million dollars
and the answer is of course this is one of those of course places of course if
you help a company make a billion dollars would they pay you fifty two
million the answer is of course it's chicken feed I mean it's not much money
now why that much money because he has become so valuable now why would we pay
somebody only four dollars an hour they're not very valuable to the
marketplace now we've got to make that distinction to the marketplace might be
a valuable brother am a valuable member of the community valuable member of the
church valuable member in the sight of God to the human family of course those
kind of values but to the marketplace which is called hood reality reality is
if you're not very valuable you don't get much money those are called the
facts
I mean that's how that is well then how do you get more money
simple answer somebody says we'll all go on strike for more whoa here's a major
problem with that here's the major problem with that you can't get rich by
demand
something says well I'm waiting for a raise I'm telling you it's easier to
climb than the way for a raise why not just become more valuable rather
than wait I'm telling you that's the key to all good things becoming more
valuable why would we pay somebody $400 an hour they've become more valuable to
the marketplace
see how this works I'm gonna do stuff is so easy
this is America DISA ladder how far is it from four to five I'm telling it's
not far four to five dollars an hour if you work for McDonald's haul out the
trash they'll pay you five dollars an hour if you whistle while you haul out
the trash they'll pay you five dollars an hour I'm telling you you'll get an
extra dollar just for a good attitude yay McDonald's wear the hat five dollars
and then you just keep becoming more valuable more valuable more valuable I
got a telephone call five years ago company said we're ready to expand
internationally we need some help I was sort of semi-retired looking for the
next exotic Beach they said no no mr. Owen we got a project for you right the
new expand internationally we could use your help next little while we'll add
some millions to your fortune make it worth your while
I said okay I thought later isn't that interesting that they called me my
second thought was of course they'd call me who else would they call I mean you
know I could get the job done now how come how come I got a telephone call
worth millions I had become valuable now I'm a farm boy
from Idaho I was raised in obscurity one year of college not thought I was
thoroughly educated made all kinds of mistakes galore at age 25 the creditors
are calling me saying hey you told us the check was in the mail I got pennies
in my pocket I got nothing in the bank I'm behind on my promises how come I get
a telephone call five years ago and it's worth millions I changed I changed I
turned my life around is it possible to become worth millions
speaking economically now there's a lot of values to become but let's just talk
economics is it possible to become that valuable the answer is of course of
course now let me give you the secret show said here's a secret mr. own learn
to work harder on yourself than you do on your job once I got that it turned my
life learn to work harder on yourself than
you do on your job
he said if you work hard on your job you'll make a living if you work hard on
yourself you can make a fortune if you would have known me at age 25 you would
have said Jim Roland's a hard worker if you'd have known me yuda said that I'm
the guy I don't mind coming a little bit early stay a little bit late I don't
mind that you'd have said well Jim Rohn is a hard worker you say well how come
he's got pennies in his pocket and nothing in the bank and behind on his
promises well I was a hard worker but I was working hard on my job not on my
cell I'm telling you if you'll learn that simple little principle and start
the process today latest tomorrow I'll give you tonight to think it over and
start this whole process of personal development work on yourself make
yourself more valuable to the marketplace I'm telling you you can so
dynamically change your income and economics is the least of the values
that you can start earning in terms of equity if you'll start working harder on
yourself than you do on your job or card on yourself and develop the skills work
hard on yourself and develop the graces all of the stuff necessary to become
more valuable to the marketplace I'm telling you your whole life can explode
into change promotions no problem becoming more valuable to the company
I'm telling you no problem money no problem economics no problem
future no problem if you just go to work on the right thing not get things out
there to change don't try to change the seed don't change the soil don't change
the sunshine don't change the rain don't change the mix of seasons let the
miracle of everything that's available work for you and start working on the
inside work on your philosophy work on your attitude work on your personality
work on your language work on the gift of communication work on all of your
abilities and if you'll start making those personal changes I'm telling you
everything will change for you

Vilallonga-Villena - Duration: 4:06.This duo is a new projet but Victor and I have played a lot together,
and we've known each other for a long time.
We have already collaborated on 2 albums,
recorded in Argentina.
What I really like about this project is the idea of a real duo
in which Victor, despite a sung text, has a certain freedom to improvise.
I do not feel simply accompanied by the bandoneon,
it's this dialogue between two voices that fascinates me.
There are musicians and singers that specialize in one style of music.
Cristina and I are used to different types of music,
we have a more open approach,
with colors that come from various kinds of music.
This is precisely what I find interesting about this project.
It's true,
without, of course, forgetting where things come from.
I love very much to mix original material and classics,
with very good arrangements of my songs by Diego Schissi
that I have adapted for bandoneon.
I like the poetry in her songs
and her esthetics, the atmosphere that she creates in her artistic projects.
Desafiando Tristezas is one of the first songs that I wrote around the tango universe.
It is a text that talks about the idea of going towards a place of joy in spite of…

Ask Karl Bryan: How do I establish my why? - Duration: 7:37.Hey party peeps Karl Bryan here coming at you for another edition of ask Karl
Bryan I just happened to be outside you will notice this beautiful toque on my
head beanie whatever you want to call it the Hat
Santa Claus photo Christmas was a long time ago
but this is the warmest toque that I had I'm outside shoveling snow
I might actually even just show you guys what I've been up to I don't know if you
can see look at this Christmas tree that should be that should be taken down but
my wife loves it and look at the amount of snow I don't know if you can I don't
know if it's giving a true representation to how big that mound of
snow is but let me tell you there's my poor Jeep or the whole bunch of snow on
it and you can see my neighborhood with a whole lot of snow but anywho so that's
what I am up to them a little bit cold but here's the case so look I've got a
question here this one is coming in from Blair, Karl I'm struggling to establish
my why can you help me? okay absolutely and again it's not often that I'll get a
question where I don't think it's a great question but let me tell you my
opinion is this is a fantastic one not only do I believe I can help you come up
with your wife but I think I can help you dramatically increase conversions of
coaching clients by bringing this out early in the conversation let's go to
the Guru's and see what they do okay so if you go to you watch Tony Robbins talk
for any length of time let's say 15 30 minutes or longer you will hear him tell
a story where he was 11 years old there was a knock on the door a big man was
standing there it was Thanksgiving his family wasn't gonna starve but they
certainly were going to be having a huge you know Thanksgiving turkey and there's
a man at the door and he handed over a whole lot of food that looked like you
know Turkey and whatnot young Tony Robbins there was three things focus
meaning do young Tony Tony Robbins focused on wow there's food but a
novelty the meaning is strangers care what am I
gonna do I'm gonna pay this back in the future whereas his father as a
stepfather but as his father was there and his father focused on this is
charity what's the meaning I'm a loser what am I gonna do I'm gonna leave my
family and never come back which is exactly what he did okay well Tony
Robbins tell that story over and over again burly
very early into this day okay when he gets interviewed and the idea and now if
you you know about Tony Robbins and his charities and whatnot he feeds
disadvantaged children like crazy like to the tune of hundreds of millions of
them right if you listen to Brendon Bouchard talk for any length of time
he'll tell a story where I was driving in a car I've been dumped with my
girlfriend life wasn't going great I was about 18 19 years old got in a car
accident thrown from the car I was lying there and a pool of blood looked down
blood all over my shirt wasn't sure if I was gonna live and I said to myself did
I live that I loved did I matter okay and he'll say that over and over again
him again as his first book golden ticket is all about that like I'm not
sure if that's his first book but it doesn't really matter the bottom line is
if you lived in the bridge Brendon Bouchard talk he will tell that all the
time my personal story my big brother
committed suicide when I was 16 years old over a business failing okay so when
I'm talking to somebody like I produce business coaches and then I help those
business coaches get in front of business owners on mass well why do I do
it because again I know what it's like when mom and dad when the business is
failing I know what happens okay I know what the results are both for the
individuals for the family and all the rest and then by the way my mother drank
herself as a result of my brother committing suicide so to say that I have
some scars in and around that would be an understatement of the year and quite
frankly this when I wake up in the morning this is what wakes me up like
right now it's said oh no oh it's I don't know it's close to six o'clock in
the morning it's between five and six bright and early in the morning why do I
get up so early rather than you know waking up at 9:00
well my why is a big reason why I do it so for you guys what I would encourage
you to do is come up with something and you notice that Brendan's Y takes a very
short period of time to tell and it's based in a story Tony Robbins is is the
exact same well try and do that so now so that's like Oh Karl but I don't have
one of those horrific backgrounds I had never been you know diagnosed with an
illness I've never had a child that was sick I've never had you know those types
of issues when I was growing up my brother didn't commit
sigh well go back at ice done a lot of work with coaches in this area and quite
frankly I really enjoy it go back to your most painful experiences
okay write them down and by the way and I want you to write down one two three I
want you to write down ten of them okay in the number of times that you'll be
able to find you know a Y pop-up I give an example of a buddy of mine Christian
Road he basically he was growing up and I'm you know we sat down we were sitting
down over a beer kind of chatting about this we were in Las Vegas for a coaches
conference that we did he's like you know I don't have that that horrific
story I don't have XYZ after a very short period of time and I'm talking
less than five minutes of sitting here and going through this exercise with him
he had worked out that when he was young his best friend who is his cousin
actually passed away and then he was able to take that experience and row it
out and say holy smokes it was a huge part of why he does what he does today
incredible very quite frankly it's very powerful exercise here's two really even
better news it will help you increase sales conversions a ridiculously high
rate okay because now when you're sitting with a prospect you'll tell that
story it's just it builds rapport at a level that you just you wouldn't have
experienced if you don't have one of these stories okay so basically guys
that's my um that's that's that's how you know that is some of the whys of
some of the big dogs there's a process for finding it and that's finding those
you know those harshest moments of your life and write them down and don't don't
try to get this in one don't expect it to come to you straight away this could
take you a year to really refine it down and get it right but start the process
now it might just come to you like that and that would be fabulous but don't
expect that to happen go through the process I can't begin to tell you how
powerful it is and when you start sitting with coaching prospects and you
pull this out expect your sales to increase your conversions to go up at a
stupidly high rate because again at that level of rapport you'll build so quickly
so I hope that was helpful guys if you appreciate this video if you could
please like it that would be super appreciated if you know a coach that
needs this information please put their name down along the bottom or again
comment on the video that would be great if you could share it that would be
absolutely and incredibly appreciated and guys if you don't have your
subscription to the Six-Figure Coach magazine yet absolutely make sure you
get that and I've got some video training along with the magazine or on
the website for the magazine the six-figure Coach magazine calm and you
can grab your subscription or your free video series your video training on how
to increase your coaching business basically your results your high-end
coaching clients and then the results for the business owners that you look
after so I hope you do that guys thanks so much for being with me this morning
I'm gonna go back to shoveling snow unfortunately and I'll speak to you guys
soon bye bye
you

Dead Wrong® with Johan Norberg - Blocking the Sun - Duration: 1:18.President Trump has imposed a 30 percent
tariff on imported solar panels to make
America great again.
At last, light in the end of the dark
tunnel for the U.S. solar industry.
Dead wrong.
The American solar industry is huge.
260,000 people work there.
But they're not producing solar panels,
they're installing them, and they're in
sales and development.
Some of them are manufacturing stuff.
But only 2,000 of them are producing
solar panels.
The rest of them are producing metal
racking systems and high-tech inverters,
and machines that track the movement
of the sun and so on.
And what made this industry possible?
Simple: cheap imported solar panels.
That's what made it possible for solar to
be cost-competitive with other energy sources.
And the Trump administration is now
sabotaging this.
And perhaps it creates or saves a few
hundred jobs for people who produce solar
panels, but at the cost of perhaps 23,000
fewer jobs in the solar industry
as a whole, according to the
Solar Energy Industries Association.
Protectionism is the intellectual
equivalent of a solar eclipse.

Movie Trilogies That Will Sadly Never Be Completed - Duration: 4:00.Some stories are just too big to be told with one measly movie.
Proper blockbuster epics, like the Lord of the Rings or the Dark Knight films, are stretched
out across a trilogy, raking in big bucks for the studio year after year after year.
But not all of these trilogies manage to fully materialize.
Here are a few epic stories that will probably never be wrapped up with a third film.
Clash of the Titans
The tagline for 2010's remake of Clash of the Titans was "Titans will clash," which
does an excellent job of summing up both the plot of the movie and what the filmmakers
thought of the flick's target audience.
Despite this, the film did okay at the box office and earned not-as-awful-as-expected
reviews.
A sequel was immediately announced, and then a third part announced before that sequel
was even released.
"One day, somebody's gonna have to make a stand.
One day, somebody's gotta say, 'Enough.'"
2012's Wrath of the Titans underperformed at the box office, pulling in only $83 million
domestically, about half what the original managed.
Despite having been announced back in 2011, the final part of the trilogy was put on hold
indefinitely.
By 2013, a producer went on record saying he couldn't see Titans 3 happening without
fresh ideas.
Escape from New York
It's John Carpenter's gritty, weird 1981 ode to a city he apparently hated — a tale in
which New York has become a giant prison and only Kurt Russell is man enough to punch his
way in there to save the president.
Yeah, Escape from New York is a B-movie, but what a B-movie it is!
"What are you doing in here with a gun, Snake?"
"Looking for somebody."
"Who?"
"The president."
By the 1990s, Escape was a cult classic crying out for a sequel.
So Carpenter announced two new chapters: Escape from LA, and Escape from Earth.
But 1996's Escape from LA bombed harder than any movie featuring Kurt Russell surf-chasing
Steve Buscemi has any right to.
Nevertheless, Carpenter and Russell tried to get their trilogy's capstone finished.
It nearly became a TV series, then an anime movie.
But as of the making of this video, Escape from Earth is officially dead.
Conan the Barbarian
Conan was the 1982 film that introduced us to Arnie's bulging pecs, turning the Austrian
muscleman into a global star, despite his super-thick accent.
"Crom, I've never prayed to you before.
I have no tongue for it."
That's all you need to know to understand the fate of the Conan trilogy, which would
have seen 1984's sequel Conan the Destroyer followed in 1987 by a final entry.
Sadly for fans of Arnold in a loincloth, 1984 was also the year a little movie called The
Terminator was released.
The idea of any B-movie being able to afford Arnie after that was unlikely, to say the
least.
Fast-forward to 2016, when Conan 3 seemed like a sure thing, with a post-politics Arnold
hyping the project.
But the studio ultimately decided to can it in April 2017.
If you want to get your Conan fix, an Amazon reboot is in the works for 2019.
Divergent
Yes, there are already three Divergent films, but the trilogy is technically incomplete.
The third film, Divergent: Allegiant, is only based on the first half of the final Divergent
book.
Just like the Harry Potter series sliced Deathly Hallows into two parts, Summit Entertainment
decided to turn the Allegiant book into two films: Allegiant and Ascendant.
But Ascendant never took off.
"What is going on here?"
"They're shutting us down."
Ascendant is now destined to become a TV series, which seems like a fair trade-off, until you
learn that the series' star, Shailene Woodley, isn't going to be involved.
To return to our Harry Potter analogy, imagine if Deathly Hallows Part 2 had only been available
online, and starring, say, Frankie Muniz as Harry.
It's just not the same thing.
