You're (still) doing "cinematic" aspect ratios ALL WRONG! - Duration: 9:17.Ok so over a year ago, I released a quick video venting my frustration about videos
with baked-in pillarboxing or letterboxing on YouTube - as the platform had been making
great strides in updating the video player to adapt to the native aspect ratio of an
uploaded video.
Aaand a lot of people got pretty salty - including a few of the big "cinematography" channels.
But the video was just meant to be that - me venting my frustration that content frequently
wound up being annoying to watch on my DCI 4K monitor - with a near 17:9 aspect ratio
and a resolution of 4096x2160 - and almost impossible to watch on my 4:3 displays and
CRTs that I love so dearly.
As of the material design layout update to YouTube that started rolling out in late 2016,
the fullscreen player now fully adjusts to fit the native aspect ratio of content to
your monitor's aspect ratio.
Which WOULD mean that 4:3 content on my 4:3 CRTs would look great, and they'd look pretty
good on 8:5 or 16:10 displays, too.
Except MANY people choose to bake in the black bars to their video.
This means that the actual video file they are uploading is in 16:9 aspect ratio, and
they just have nothing filling in on the sides.
This is a problem, because then trying to scale that video on YouTube on a native resolution
screen doesn't work.
Instead of a full-screen 4:3 beautiful video, you get a tiny video view in the middle of
the screen.
That's not a good viewing experience.
*This became more relevant and I thought it was worth posting at the time, since 21:9
ultrawide screens were becoming more sought after at the time.
Screens are getting wider and less standard, even phones are now releasing with 2:1 (or
18:9) screens, some even with weird 19:9 ratios.
Releasing fake cinema scope or 21:9 content with a PNG overlay in a 16:9 canvas will not
look good on those phones.
At all.*
Yeah sure, I sounded kind of like a dick - but not because I was looking down upon people
who didn't know what they were doing, but because I generally found it frustrating as
a viewer.
Yes, I do kind of scoff at the nonsense trends the past 2 years of pushing destructive LUTs,
b-roll of normal things set to music in slowmo to look cool, and adding black bars to pretend
your footage is interesting -
but my primary goal is always to advocate for "doing it right" if you MUST do it.
*And very clearly, the video was talking about YouTube uploads.
I got so many comments about how their film festival or clients need 16:9 submissions.
Then give them 16:9.
That whole video was referencing the YouTube player and how it impacts YouTube viewers.*
Well there was a recent update that makes this even more prevalent.
At the time I made the video, the player in the new layout adapted to the aspect ratio
of the source video IF you were viewing in fullscreen or in theater mode, the bigger
wide view.
To be honest, I haven't deliberately used the Default player view in years and I don't
see how anyone does, so I didn't even notice that aspect ratios were NOT conformed to in
that mode.
BUT they just updated the player so that even the default view adapts to the aspect ratio
of the file that is uploaded.
So I figured it was time to finally rehash this subject.
*Here's an example of the old YouTube layout that the last percent of people are being
forced over from are used to seeing.
The older UI design and videos that were always framed within a 16:9 ratio box.
So this video from Paramore, uploaded in a wider aspect ratio has black bars on the top
and bottom.
In the new layout, the player expands and allows the video to take up much more of the
screen - expanding until the top and bottom edges of the native video frame hit the player
borders.
This is what you want.
This is a much better viewing experience.
This also means that in full-screen mode, this video will adapt better to screens of
all different sizes without borders on the top AND sides, which sucks.
Here's an example of a video uploaded with bars baked into the video, full-screen on
my wider-than-16:9 screen.
Bars on the sides, bars on the top and bottom.
This is a crappy viewing experience.
Now with the update this week, this player adaptation is done in the default view, as
well, which is cool.
Unfortunately, that brought a bug where the Theater mode player has like 50 to 100 extra
pixels to the side, spawning a side scroll bar at all resolutions in Chrome, which is
obnoxious.
BUT they'll fix that, it's happened before.*
To me, the important part should be the viewing experience.
Pick a frame size, compose for that frame size, and stick with it.
Randomly chopping off parts of your video does NOT make it more cinematic, and watching
it as a small box in a complete black border as a result definitely doesn't feel cinematic.
It was also brought up that they HAVE to upload in 16:9 in order to enable End Cards.
I have a couple thoughts on that.
Firstly, just to be blunt, End Cards are something only a small percent of viewers ever see across
most channels.
And if your video looks that bad on my screen, I'm not making it until the end, and I know
many people who feel the same way.
Secondly, while the End Card tool does not work on 21:9 or scope native resolution video,
it does work on non-16:9 videos, despite what it says.
You can go all the way to 2:1 or 18:9 and still have End Cards work, and they still
work on even 4:3 videos.
I have tested this, it doesn't work any wider than 18:9 but it does work out to that
point.
Works on 8:5 or 16:10, as well.
So if your goal is TRULY to just provide a slightly wider video to FEEL a bit more "cinematic",
then 2:1 is a fantastic compromise that looks great across most screens, and still has End
Card support.
Please, please consider using it.
And to be honest, it looks better than going full ultrawide anyway.
*Let's review the ways to actually produce wider content correctly, as well.
In my opinion, the best possible way is to start with the correct aspect ratio you want
to target with your original sequence settings AND your render settings.
That way there is no risk of rendering it incorrectly.
With 18:9 it's easy to make the presets because minimal math is required.
Your sequence width should be double the height.
Easy.
Alternatively, you could edit in the 16:9 equivalent with matching width to your wider
setup, add a black bar PNG as usual, and then render in the wider view to chop those off
- though in many cases that will simply center your entire sequence in a wider frame, which
is DEFINITELY not what you want, but might help teach you why this problem is a problem.
If you use the correct aspect ratios from the getgo, then you have the freedom to adjust
framing and composition and scaling all while you're editing without worrying about anything,
nor dealing with a pesky extra layer of black bars to keep up with.*
And, obviously for those of you who want to point it out as some sort of ground-breaking
revelation - if you're having your black bars scale in from the top and bottom for
an otherwise 16:9 video, this doesn't work.
I'm talking about videos that are completely wide-screen from start to finish here.
But come on, do you really want to keep over-using that Peter McKinnon ripoff trick?
Is that really what you want from your content?
Anywho, hopefully this helps showcase how aspect ratios are supposed to work, and how
you can make the viewer experience the best it can be.
If you're putting all of this extra effort in to make your video pop, might as well do
it right, eh?
Sample clips and etc. will be linked in the video description, as well as the original
video.

How to Grow a TINY Fortnite YouTube Channel 1000% in Two Weeks! - Duration: 16:54.We're hearing this a lot lately: it's
2018 and the YouTube ship has sailed.
How can I compete against channels with
millions of subscribers on a topic that
I'm passionate about with my 10
subscribers? It's too late for me.
Absolute nonsense. First of all, more
people are using YouTube than ever before
and even today we're seeing channels
with breakthroughs of a magnificent
proportions. Why do we say that? Well
today we've got the channel, with the
strategy, and the analytics to prove it -
in one of the most competitive spaces
on YouTube. Let's do this. Now of course
we can't let this question linger
without throwing it out to our community
which is of course a you folks. So do you
think it's too late to start a YouTube
channel and be successful in 2018? We'd
love to hear your thoughts. Better yet, if
you have any personal experiences of
starting a channel this year let us know
in the comments below. Hello folks as
always it is awesome to see you. My
name is Rob. If this is your first time
here at vidIQ we are the YouTube
tool and channel that aims help you get more
views and save time in the process.
Any of the wonderful analytics and
screens you see in this video that you're
not familiar with come from our Chrome
extension which is, of course, free to
download. All right then on to the topic
at hand, a case - study we know you love
case studies. A channel with barely any
traction, a few hundred views a day,
suddenly leaps to ten thousand views a
day, with a single video and then manages
to follow up with more content getting a
similar amount of views, all in one of
the most saturated genres on YouTube
right now, Fortnite. How did they do it?
Let's take a lool. This is the
channel at the centre of our case study
Marcelinios, I hope I've got your
pronunciation right. The channel banner
doesn't necessarily suggest a focus or a
topic for the videos and the description
confirms this: a 15 year old kid trying
to become someone in this platform. I
make different videos about different
topics. So we already potentially we have an
issue of what the focus of this channel
is in terms of what it's bringing to its
audience. And the statistic
for April of this year confirm
that. It was a channel that was getting
maybe a couple of hundred views when
they released a video and subscriber
wise they weren't picking up any sort of
audience at that stage. The content
seems to match the description. Random
videos, random topics. If we take a glance
of the videos prior to May and June we
have a tricycle review here, something
about being hacked on apocalypse, a Rice
Gum and Logan Paul video, reacting to diss
tracks. So generally speaking, pranks,
maybe reviews of youtubers, but certainly
what you might describe as a lack of
focus for a small Channel trying to find
their niche. And then all of a sudden,
three months ago, we happen across this
video here which gets 23,000 views and
seems to be on a completely new topic of
Fortnite. This is where the
investigation gets deep.
Ok let's briefly talk about Fortnite. It
is one of the most popular games on the
planet right now. As you can see it's
getting 15 million plus monthly searches
and if you do a search just for
Fortnite on YouTube you will see at the
top of a search term channels such as
Ali-A with nearly 15 million subscribers
and millions of views on each of their
videos. If you were to try and break
into just the Fortnite search term as a
smaller channel you will find it almost
impossible. Look at the sizes of the
channels here. One with 100,000
subscribers and more with a 20,000
subscribers, 6 million subscribers, 11
million subscribers. It's going to be
very difficult for you to just use
Fortnite as your focus. You need to
drill down even further. Now one of the
things many gamers want is the best
performance from their games when
they're playing online and that brings
us on to technical aspects such as
frames per second. To briefly explain
frames per second it's the number of
times the screen refreshes when you're
playing a game and gamers want this as
high as possible for a smooth experience.
So if we do a search for this in the
search box here for YouTube just look at
the potential options that come up here.
Fortnite frames per second boost, frames-
per-second mode.
Frames-per-second drop, frames-per-second
boost 2018. This is a highly searched
area of a specific topic, and this is
where you can start to niche down. If we
do a search for Fortnite frames per
second, look at how this changes the search
results. We now see monthly searches,
around 800,000, much less than the 15
million for Fortnite in general but the
keyword score here is where it gets
really interesting. High search volume
but less competition, which means that
there is more demand for this search
term than there is supply and that is
represented in these search results. At the
top, instead of having millions
subscribed channels, we've got hundreds
of thousands of subscriber channel and
then if we go to 4th in a list look at
this one here. A channel with 2800
subscribers has had a video with a
hundred thousand views and we're gonna
get back to this channel little later.
But if we scroll down the list a little
more what do we see here? Our hero
Channel Marcelinios with a video that
has 37,000 views with the title:
Fortnite Increase frames-per-second
boost performance season 5. So a
really specific, niched-down title which
is very successful for the size of his
channel. There are millions of gaming
channels on YouTube right now so how do
you stand out from the crowd? When it
comes to the games you need to be able
to answer questions that nobody else can
answer, faster than anyone else, or better
than anyone else.
This strategy comes from a video we made
literally weeks ago about how to start a
gaming channel on YouTube in 2018 and
this case study is a perfect
representation of elements of that. The
channel hasn't necessarily answered the
question faster than anyone else or even
better than anyone else but there is
such a hungry audience out there. We've
got so many searches on YouTube and not
enough videos that supply the answers
that this channel has had the
opportunity to break into the top of the
search terms. Let's drill a little deeper
now into the videos to see why they may
have got to the top of the search terms.
There is only one place you can start
with and that is the video title and
thumbnail. So I'm at back here on Marcelinios'
channel and which thumbnails
stand out for you? For me it is these
two which look better
than any others in
terms of the thumbnails. How to get old
snapchat back. It seems like a good title,
a functional one and a good thumbnail.
Unfortunately that didn't get any traction
but this one here, The Ultimate Fortnite
frames-per-second boost 2018. Functional
title in one sense, it does exactly what
it says on a tin. But it has that tease
of the ultimate suggestion and the
thumbnail here with a character from the
game and some nice, big, blocky text and
even when reduced down to a smaller size, this
thumbnail has a good impact so it
already has an enticing title and
thumbnail that you may want to click on
if you want the question of getting
higher frames per second on Fortnite
answered. As for optimization and
metadata, on the video itself, there are
some good aspects and room for
improvement. What I do like is that the
video tags are very specific so we're
not looking at general Fortnite, Battle
Royale, video game tags. We're focusing
down on the topic and the subject which
is these frames-per-seconds and how to
boost them. So we have here Ultimate
Fortnite frames-per-second boost
which is ranking number 5 for that
search term. Now when we go to that
search term it doesn't have much search
volume itself, so it's a very specific
keyword, however the channel has done
well in ranking right here at the top of
the search terms, but there's still room
for improvement. If we look at the top
result here a channel with only 700
subscribers has a video with over 200
thousand views and look at how specific
the tags are here and where there could be
room for improvement. On Marcelinios'
videos he could use some of these tags
to enhance his and there's also some
options here down in the top search
keyword suggestion in our search
companion. More opportunities with
potentially more tags just to add more
focus to their video itself if possible.
Now we need to take a little bit of a
step back here... thanks. This video itself
didn't perform that well to begin with,
same as all the other videos, on the
channel.A couple of hundred views, but it
did focus the channel creator onto this
concept of trying to improve
frames-per-second on Fortnite, a very
specific topic. And there were some more
videos that he made. Then something
amazing happened and this is thanks to a
trending topic. Within this game of
Fortnite there are different seasons and a
new season was just about to be released
on July 12. So Marcelinios
updated his video to
Ultimate frames-per-second boost
for season 5 of the game. Let's have a
look at that video. Here are what I think
are the key reasons why this video was a
very successful one for the channel. First of
all, the title is again very alluring,
with the Ultimate Fortnite frames-per-
second boost. But now it includes that
trending current event season 5 and as
we said the season 5 version of the game
was released on the 12th of July and
look at the release day here. The 9th of
July, just before that release date. So as
the topic was starting to trend, get
really hot, and this is reinforced by the
tags which are more refined than ever. We
have boost FPS season 5 ultimate season 5,
FPS boost Fortnite, FPS boost season 5,
and you can see that they're all
rankings to a certain degree in the
search terms. And if we click on one
of these search terms and use the vidIQ
keyword inspector look at the trending
interest over time. Just as it hit the
12th or the 13th of July interest was at
its peak so Marcelinios released this
video at the perfect time and this is
what happened to it.
Now it took a couple of days for the
video to take off but remember that
graph I showed you earlier of interest
over time? The symmetry here is almost
unnerving. Now I need to stretch out the
graph a little bit but look how the
video peaked in popularity versus
interest over time, it's identical. This
is a classic case of prepping your
video for a trending topic that's about
to happen and absolutely nailing it on
the day of launch. Now as we've been
doing this case study we've seen other
small channels having breakthroughs with
Fornite as well but why haven't I
covered those channels? We'll take a look
at that now. The first one was Ikkons and this
channel had a very successful video on
frames-per-second on Fornite 200,000
views.
The big question is what did they do
next? Another video on how to win at
Fornite Battle Royale and something
about a personality's best moments and
then something completely different on
black ops 4 before disappearing from
YouTube. So they didn't follow
up on similar content. It's the same
situation with Waves, a channel with a
very similar number of subscribers to
Marcelinios. They had a video here
Insane frames-per-second boost three
weeks, ago over a hundred thousand views.
But what did they do next? Something
about you'll never see this again in
Fortnite, I'm not sure what this middle
video is about mid laners season 8, free
season pass battle pass on a Fortnite
there, and only now, three weeks after
their very successful video, have they
gone for another video on improving
performance for frames-per-second so
what they didn't do, crucially, was
doubled down on successful content. On
the flip side what our case study
subject did was not only follow up with
more content, they made a lot of it
immediately to strike that trending
topic. Ao here is the Ultimate Fortnite
FPS boost season 5 video that
kick-started everything. That was two
weeks ago, and look at the number of
videos they've made since then. All on a
very familiar similar topic. Fortnite
how to lower your ping three new methods,
Fortnite best way to do frames-per
second. How to run Fortnite on a low-end
PC 2018 season 5 with it frames per
second plastered all over the thumbnail.
And look at the transformation in
thumbnails as well. This was how the channel
looked beforehand, five months ago...
this is how the channel looks now. Very
familiar, focused topic, thumbnails that
have a lot of consistency, branding, a lot
more powerful, vibrant colors, always
focusing down on that frames-per-second
niche topic. And look at the view counts
here: 4,000 views, 8,000 views, 10,000 views,
39,000 views, this channel has absolutely
smashed it by following a simple
strategy of doubling down on your best
content. So what sort of impact does
having a successful video and then
doubling down on it more than ten times
over a two-week period have on a channel?
Well here are the results. As you can see,
there's a graph here which is barely
moving then all of a sudden whoosh, we're
into the tens of thousands of views. At
one point this channel was getting 18
thousand views plus a day. That's an
increase of thousands of percent. It's
tailed off a little bit but compared to
where they were and where they are now
the transformation is unrecognizable.
Another interesting analytic we can now
look at thanks to the YouTube creator
studio beta is impressions and
click-through rates. This is where it was
before and look at the transformation.
Once those videos took off, not only has
impressions raised by a
significant amount but
look at that click-through rate. I've
never seen one so high for a channel
getting thousands of views at a 17%
rnage is astronomical. People are just
eating up this content and the channel
creator is just creating more and more
as quickly as possible it's a recipe for
success. Now there's just one more
analytic we want to show you today and
that's from vidIQ's very own channel
audit. Boom. Thousands of percent growth.
If anybody has a better set of numbers
than that let us know, we want to do a
case study on your channel.
As for what Marcelinios should double down
on? Well you can see it right here, it's
pretty obvious and he's already doing
that. Now then, despite the success this
channel has flourished in over the last
two weeks, as always, with any YouTube
channel, there is still room for improvement.
So Marcelinios, if I got your channel
name I'm sorry. Is it Marc Elinios or
something like that? Here are some tips
to help you improve your channel even
more. First of all I think it's pretty
obvious what your target audience and
value proposition is. Your channel
is for gamers who want to
improve the performance of their gaming
experience. You want your channel to
reflect that, so a brand new channel
banner with graphics and a message that
reflects what you do on your channel.
Those thumbnails are absolutely awesome
we want to see a that level of quality
and message throughout your
channel. Also your description, if you
search for your channel on YouTube this
is what you get: I'm a 15 year old kid
who's doing random videos, random topics.
Update that to reflect your content.
Secondly it obviously appears that you
have no problem getting people into your
videos with awesome impressions and
click-through-rates, but how can you get
them to stay there longer? Your audience
retention is at around about 35%, watch
time one minute froty. How do we up that?
You've got to think of ways to keep
people engaged in your content, whether
you're asking them questions, giving them
more information as the video continues,
maybe not paying off of your solution as
early as the first minute or so. These
are all things you will learn and craft
as you improve your videos as we've
already seen with your thumbnails so good
luck with all of that. All right then
let's rewind to the very beginning of
this video and ask that same question
again: do you think you can start a
YouTube channel in 2018 and be
successful? If the answer's still no, I
just need to make another video. If, on
the other hand, you found this case study to be
really informative, we've got another one
right here on a channel that got more
than a million views on a single video
in the horror genre. And if you really
just dig that channel audit tool that we
briefly showed you we've got a full
tutorial down. Here enjoy the rest of
your video making day and we'll see you
on those other videos right now.

From 80K To 140K Subscribers In 2 Weeks - Duration: 17:12.Is it possible to go from 80,000 to 140,000 subscribers in just two weeks? It
really as we did it. So, this isn't just a hypothetical thing. We did something
intentionally that caused that to happen. So, we're going to show you what we did.
We're going to lift the hood and take a look. In our last episode, chronologically
speaking, if you're jumping around then that makes no sense whatsoever. In
another episode, we talked about getting 5,000 new YouTube subscribers in 5
months which is a great conservative but still impressive accomplishment.
Depending on what it is that you're putting out there. In this episode, we're
talking about much greater numbers in much shorter time. Enlighten us, by the
way Scott Christopher, Nate," Nate Woodbury be the hero, Nate." It's on a shirt
right there, he's like a superhero. What do you got? So, yeah we're... I want to tell
you the whole story so you see that the whole picture on the steps we took to
get there. Beautiful. And you're going to show us under the hood stuff? Under the
hood. But kind of the... What we're going to get to is in the last two weeks,
we've jumped from 80,000 subscribers to over 140,000 subscribers. In these last
two weeks? Wow. Okay, so let me. That's almost doubling your subscribers. Yes. So exciting.
In two weeks. So exciting and lots of other things have increased as well.
I wish it were my channel that was doing that but it's not.
Okay. So, what we're looking at here, this is going back to
April 10th of 2017. Oh, so the reason we're going back that far first is so
you can see this is when we took this channel, daily. Okay. Back then that meant
five videos per week. In December, we switch that to seven videos per week.
Okay, so if we go exactly four months, remember this format, the principle I've
talked about in many videos. Yes four months. Yeah, you've said, you sometimes you've said to the
day, 4 months you'll see a spike. So, we're looking at 4 months to
the day April 10th to August 10th. May, June, July, August. Yes, that is 4 months.
You can see that the channel kind of went along steady then it started to get
some... And theses are daily views. Yep. This is showing the
number of views each day. So, a thousand to 2,000 to 3,000. We've got up to... Let me click
the screen. Here, we got up to 3,500 in a day. And in this channel, I do with Kris.
He's the star of the show Kris Krohn. Kris and I were getting pretty excited
around this point but we had no idea what was coming when we hit that 4
month mark. Let me just change this by one day. Change it to August 11th. Okay. So,
you're at about 3,500. Oh my, you must have just had a coronary when you looked at your
little cell phone. We were pretty excited. Yeah. Yeah, this was fun. So, we got to over
10,000 subscribers in one day. That is the definition spike.
I said subscribers, I meat views. Right, right. We did get a lot of subscribers
that day. Okay, so then I want to show you it. The new baseline that we had. So, if I
take it out there just one more week. One week from about 10,000 views a day. We
settle back down and now we are, you know, at 3,800 or 4,000 somewhere in that
range of kind of our new baseline. So, you basically doubled your baseline. Mm-hmm.
But then we had another spike. Okay. Let me actually fast-forward to August 25th.
So, let me go out another another week. Oh, sweet mercy. I love this. I love this! So, if you can't see what
that is, you went from about a 10 or 11,000. Yeah, so we were so excited about
having 10,000 views in single day and then you know a week, later we have a new
baseline. Then a week later, we're up to over 30,000 views two days
in a row. So, that... It makes the other one just look like a little blip. And this is
now, this "that's not a knife, this is a knife." So, now...
that's right. A movie that I watched as a kid and then when I watched later as an adult, I'm like,
"This is kind of a bad movie." Yeah. That's very appropriate. Oh no, definitely
not. Yeah, you probably saw the cleaned version. Probably. But I just love showing
this because I was... It was so exciting then and I look at it now, it was like,
"Wow! So cool!" So, here's the question then. So the four-month anniversary, so to speak, was
held true. You had a spike and it was significant and it was great and it came back
down... Now, you've been able to sort of plot
that and track it and predict it. But is this spike, one week and two weeks later,
are these predictable or not. Is this just, "Now, all bets are off and we're
working on another 4-months cycle." It's a a lot more difficult. What's
predictable, what I found predictable is when your channel will start to spike as
that 4 months. Okay. After that, we've had a challenge trying to get it
to spike. And what we'll show you in a minute is we got to a new baseline but
we kept that baseline for many months. But then recently, I had an idea, we went
with the idea and it worked and it caused a spike that makes these ones
look mini. Alright let's see. What do you got? There's some thoughts I
wanted to cover first. Okay, one more thing that I want to cover first is the
video and this is just kind of a cool sign note. The video that caused both
these spikes was not a video that we launched in August. It was a video that
we launched clear back here in May. But it was an AMPed video the app video
performed well but it wasn't time, I guess in the algorithm it wasn't time
for YouTube to really spike the channel. When the four-month... So, you relaunched it?
No, no, no, no. It was a video that's live and that's just when YouTube decided
to start promoting that video in the suggested videos. Isn't that interesting?
Huh! So, that's unpredictable on their part. Our job and your job is to
create great videos that follow the AMPed strategy. Right, which is automatic
and magnetic and perpetual. So, that's the results that you want when you follow
the it's specific, it's searchable and it has a good retention rate. Those are the
3 ingredients to get AMPed results. You do that daily for four months, your
channel will spike. Okay, it looks like we're showing a new baseline. So, let's
see what the if I fast forward to September 30th. Another month, what
happened? Okay, we did have another spike of
equivalent height. And it looks like we had a newer a higher baseline.
Definitely, wow. That's pretty cool. Over 10,000. Now, we're going to fast-forward
to the 19th of last month. So, just a month ago. Now we're...
Now you're in 10 months out. Yeah, since we're going to clear out to... What
date that I have there? May of this year, 2018. 2018. So, we're going to see. Okay, I
want to... It looks like we've had some other spikes here. Those are spikes but
they're kind of like pseudo spikes or false spikes. And I'll just
explain what I mean. There weren't spikes that we were excited about. They one,
they didn't create a new baseline. This channel that we're looking at here,
Limitless TV, is all about real estate investing. But we've created some other
videos on miscellaneous topics and we happened to create a video with a guest
star on the effects of watching pornography. Oh. It's a good video on a
good topic, has a good message on obviously the problems that pornography
causes. Sure. But that video spiked and it wasn't bringing in the type of traffic
that we wanted. What people were searching for, we're not finding what
this channel delivered. And we had to turn off the comments on that video for
obvious reasons. It was... Anyway, we didn't get more... We didn't add new subscribers
with that video and we did not increase revenue. It didn't benefit the channel in any way.
Yeah, it makes sense. You got a spike but what good does that do with it. Yeah. So, this one
was a legitimate, you know, it helped the channel and it did add
subscribers, it was a different video. But these two spikes right here, that's what
I'm kind of labeling as a fault spike because it was that video but it didn't
benefit the channel and it obviously didn't result in a new baseline.
Got you. So, kind of interesting. We were said that the spikes that we were hoping
for came from not a non real estate investing video. Okay, so we're just
filming. Today's date is the 18th. So this is a little for a week ago. Yeah. We go to
June 10th.
Look at that! That's so fun! So, fine. Fine I'll say. Know now we were
excited about these spikes. 30,000, right? 33, 34,000
thousand. This one right here, 161,000, I mean, this it
went down to 100,000 and then we went up here. 250, 274,000
at the highest there. Like over a
quarter of a million views in a single day. What is happening? Okay, now what's
what's so exciting about about this spike is we caused it by something that
we did intentionally. That's nice. Yeah, so, we look back at the the main video that
caused these spikes and let me explain something. So, when I went back and looked
at the main two videos that were responsible for these two original
spikes or on a topic. Okay. We decided to remake those videos. Because they worked
once. They worked once, let's remake them. The exact same topic, tell the
exact same story but film it in an even better way. And so, it was the story of
how Kris retired at the age of 26. And how to, you know, we use the phrase how to
invest in your 20's. We kind of played with both those one and the thumbnail, one
in the title. And we thought, we'd film it in a fun way. I had the idea of
instead of just filming, you know, having the camera on a tripod and filming in
one place. Why don't we walk around and I'll film, it I'll hold my glide cam and
I said, "Pull up in your BMW i8." It's got these wing doors that come up. So,
we'll have you get out of your car. People love that. People love that.
Yes. Kris was actually hesitant to do that like, "Come on. Let's just go
with me and we'll see how this video does. I'm so glad when I have an idea
that like... So, we did that, we post it. We posted this video and it took 10 days.
So, I remember right then it must have been on on June 1st or something,
something like that. We posted this video. We saw that it was performing well,
we thought, "Let's do another one." So, we did another video on the same topic but
we hopped in his car this time, we drove to his first investment property and we
got out parts the car in that driveway. We filmed it in front of that house and
that video did really well. Its got like 15,000
views and I'm hoping that in the coming few days that video will cause a spike
even bigger than this one. So, let's fast forward just to today. Yeah, I'm curious to see.
it's going to come down. It's going to be hopefully a higher baseline. So,
that's today. It won't let me do today but let me go through yesterday. So, we've
settled down but we're still and down 55,000 daily views. And so, this
goes through the 15th and the date of this filming. What's today?
Today's 18th. So, this is a two days old if I hit real time here. Okay what was
that number again? 55,000 views-ish a couple days ago. But
If I hit this right here, real time, you'll see what's happening today and
yesterday for the previous 48 hours. So, we've actually increased a little bit. So,
we know, okay, it's been going down. Is it still going to drop more or are we at a
new baseline. And it's, you see that 48 hours ago. So at 12 p.m. on June 16th, we
were at 2,700 views but then yesterday, it grew up to 3,800 views. You know, today is
doing pretty well or at 3 or 4... 34, 3,500 views
per hour. The last 60 minutes have been 3,300
views. So, YouTube really likes showing you exactly what's happening on your
channel. This is such a great tool to have. And totally just part of the
package. I love it. So, if you take this... Let's just say it's our new
baselines 50,000 views per day. Right. That is so cool when our previous spike
was 33, 35. I love it. Isn't that cool? And we caused it. I had an idea and it worked.
So again, unpredictable to some degree but you've at least discovered another
really cool way to make your own spike. So, a little summary that you can apply.
And this isn't a summary that's like, "Oh, now they're just going to tell us what we
already know." Okay, pay attention, keep watching this video. I'm especially not going to
do that because I don't know what I know. So, for 4 months, if we post daily
videos, that's 80 videos. If you do five videos a week. 80 or more, okay? At
the 4 month mark, one of those videos is going to spike. YouTube's basically going
to pick the one that's been performing the best and that one will spike.
So now from what we've experienced here my recommendation is go make a remake of
the video or two or three, your top 3 performing videos and remake them and
report back. Leave a comment below. I'd be really interested to see
how that worked for you. If it caused additional spikes like I did here.
Let me show you subscribers. Let me bring this back here because I said we jumped
from 80,000 to over 140,000. Alright so let me come over here to subscribers and
we're looking at what dates? Yeah so this is back originally from April 10th when
we started going daily all the way through June 2 to yesterday and you can
see that it just added tons. I mean in our peak on the 10th of June, we added
almost 8,000 subscribers in a single day. Wow! Day before that was 7,600, this day
was 6,000. So I kept stats and back on May 29th. We were at 78,026
subscribers. So May 29th 78,000 and today, if I just go to
dashboard, we are now at a 144,718.
So you picked up, yeah 60 to 80 yeah. 80 up to a hundred... 65,000
subscribers. And you know for someone like me, you know I can't even begin to
even turn on monetization or anything until I have what a thousand subscribers?
Don't you need to have... There's like a minimum... Yeah you pick those up...Talking about
monetization, YouTube is a little slow because on the previous video, we
reviewed Live on Purpose TV and the great stats that have happened there in
the four months, five months. Well, the channel is monetized but then YouTube
made this brand-new rule that says you have to have a thousand subscribers. We
weren't there yet when they made that rule so we were
unmonitored or demonetized then a week later or a couple weeks
later is when we started to have growth and we've passed a thousand then we had
our spike and so we then qualified for monetization and we went in and checked
the thing you know apply for monetization YouTube has still not
approved it. It is now four months later. So YouTube, we love you, we want... If we
look at the stats and the channel should be making 700 bucks a month in
Adsense revenue which... It's modestly they're obviously making money off of
other things but yeah. So yeah, another channel that'll work on work on
that I will keep confidential just because they would like it but they know
someone on the inside and the top management of YouTube and so they were
able to push one of their channels through that. There were channels at
about 35,000 or 32,000 subscribers and it was taking a
while to get approved for monetization and they were able to get it to happen
within a couple months but we've been waiting for 4 months. No really is that.. Do
we know... Is that common? Did it used to be that way? is that a new thing? YouTube
is having a hard time keeping up with it. Yhey've they've announced it and said
sorry for the delays. It should happen by the end of June. So we're at the end of
June. Wow and I guess we're at mid June so by the end of June... Oh I hope when the
day comes, mine gets monetized that I won't have to wait too long because I
got bills to pay man! So hopefully enjoyed this video and I really am
anxious to see your comments on the experiences that you've had. Share
anything that you've done that's caused a spike. Let me know your stories
and if you follow the strategy that I recommend here, come back you know when
that's happened and what do you've experienced some things either good or
bad and sure. And if you've really enjoyed an hour using this video, follow
me and subscribe if you haven't and like it like crazy.
Yeah share it with your other YouTuber friends who this will benefit. It's good free
stuff.

The Unbelievable story of Pronka the Dirty
About the American bet,
About the tsar's bet
About a cowboy's younger brothers looking alike.
About the older Brother, rich as Klondike.
Hello Folks of all sorts, practical or not.
Sober of tipsy, Modest or risk-takers
Junior or senior, Potbellied or skinny
Come up to the box-show to listen stories and behold them
Eyes open widely, ears blown through
Bow your head to watch the panorama set.
and pay some money ahead Pay a copper dime- to get a showtime
For a silver coin...
you'lle be served with respect and honor,
In a faraway kingdom,
In the United States country
across the sea, Across the ocean...
behind the islands in motion
behind the banana trees
lived the brothers-Americans
and now you can see...
America -
called the western miracle.
This is the Statue of Freedom
which stands at the entrance to America's homeland
It welcomes and bids farewell and wishes everybody well.
And here is a house that scrapes the sky
There lived the brother, rich as Klodike
He's chilling out on the veranda waiting for his younger brothers.
And the younger brothers, dashing cowboys,
driving cows right, hitting saloons at night
He will now speak so let me translate quick
John, Pete, come over. I have a business proposal I want to talk about.
If health and energy allow, I'd like to see the world and be seeN...
I will not come back home until my name is known.
How can you leave us? How can you forsake us?
We are tall in height but small in mind.
We are useless and dumb can't distinguish day from night.
All right! We'll all go together!
Pack your bits and pieces you'll assist me while traveling
Dear brothers-children, if it's not a secret I'll tell you were we'll go.
We're gonna go to Russia. -That's great!
I'm thinking to visit some Russian towns
I'm changing the slides in the machine so we can see some new pictures
So this thing is called an aeroplane machine
It is steered by the older brother
He's flying fast to Russia at last
The aeroplane is leaving Europe behind and losing height above Russia.
And here, just pay attention is St. Petersburg, Full of dandies and....dirt
Hello peasants! Welcome to our humble abode!
Sonow the gentlemen are in an intourist hotel.
Stometimes they're clean and comfortable to stay in.
This picture is a calender.
The tsar's daughters and the tsar himself are on it.
Let's propose to them as husbands.
What if it's our blessing?
Why would we need those Americans? Shepherds and kettlemen, ha!
The should propose to out cooks. The likes of those will say:"Yes, I will!"
Ciao! Adios! Good-bye!
We sing to our darling.
And wine pours like rain.
Our beloved one paid us a visit!
The dearest American.
My years are old and my hair is grey.
No children, no wife. Drinks and food can't exhaust my fortune.
I need to make a wonder happen to surprise the whole world.
Straight from America I came on a green spade.
The spade is broken But I'm still here walking,
American shoes made of straw and screws.
Easy to walk on. Easy to run on.
Buy some right now and have a lot of fun.
And this gentleman is from a trading clan.
Souvenirs he sells being loud as churchbells
So for this due some American value
Here, drink on the health of America!
We'll do!
How are you named mister Me? Pronka is the name I'm cursed with.
Pronka. Ok, Pronka You come to the intourist hotel, Alright?
Yes, sir.
Auf Wiedersehen, sirs!
I've noticed, Mr. Pronka that you are a man of business.
So I offer you to make an American bet.
Deal!
I, an American citizen, take... How do you call it?
...take on a lease of the shopping arcade on main street,
supply it with essential goods, and assign it to you for use.
you trade, turn out capital... and drink it away, and eat it away.
For this, you, percious mr. Pronka...
for 15 years, must not wash, trim shave...
blow your nose, nor even change your clothes. OK?
Well, that's what the bet beholds. To live in filth foe 15 years.
Okie-Dokie!
My trustees will be watching you.
Should you endure. All assets will become yours.
But if you even once wipe your face with a sleeve,
you'll be thrown out barefooted right onto main street.
Fith is not grease Rub once - ones's clean at once. I agree!
Well, Pronya, just hold out. a new life is now about
Keep on watching, dear lot what a shop Pronka got.
This is a flying ship called by people "Dirigibe"
Goods from America it brought Here it's unloading.
Our compatriots are rushing in to get imported goods within.
That's how our lucky man started trading
one day changed for the next
During the first years Pronka slept 2-3 hours a day.
Receive goods, sell goods, bending over backwards to trade.
In 5 years he build a stone house with an iron roof.
In 10 years every town had a Pronka store.
And every village a store.
Day after day. Year after year pronka became hairy as a beast
an astonishing monster
His face and hands were blacker as his boots.
Hairs like manes, and his beard a complete mat.
Rain in summer was the only washing he had.
But the trustees are right on the spot
They take pictures of pronka in every step.
And the cunning twins play tricks on Pronka.
sanitary posted they hang on the walls to tempt him to get clean.
My oh my I can't stand lice anymore
Ah, I don't give a damn about this American bet!
All I want to do is bathe!
A, leave it! Filth is not grease.
Cock-a-doodle-doo! Cock-a-doodle-doo!
You see? Sings like a cockerel Lice bites are so itchy...
pronka had been become a renowned merchant
Everybody was in debt to him Even the tsar himself borrowed thousands
In 12 years Pronka had a full box of debt-papers from the tsar.
That's the power the simple man had by now.
Only the big American, our business man is afraid of.
Montly the Americans take a picture of him with their camera.
Measure the layers of filth and count the lice
Yearly he publishes the results on pronka.
In an American cinematography he shows pronka's life.
and never ever Pronka ran of his course.
Suddenly a neighbor state started a war against the tsar
Bejabbers! Mustached invaders!
Hanker after our sovereignty.
and these mustachd Swedes are preparing an unpleasant gift for the tsar.
What a perky one He hit me right on the crown.
Just you wait, you hooligans!
and now folks, watch!
our tsar plans to send back a present of peas.
Hurray!
Trishka, pull me down! Softly!
No visitors! I'll be busy!
Yes, father tsar!
Hold it down, you idiot!
Yes, father tsar!
Hello, hello! Pronka, my dear fellow, how are you?
This is your majesty calling. Pronka, my angel, here
a neighbor state started a war.
Please lend me half a dozen millions for military expenses.
To renovate fortresses, build aeroplanes to make attack gasses & lots of other things
and the treasury is empty!
Cannot be done, your majesty! - What?
You're already in debt deeper than the deepest sea
How dare you, you hopeless snot!
Willing or not give me the money!
I'll grant the rank of a general to you if you desire!
We wouldn't even be attracted to even the title of an earl
But, to talk business...
I wouldn't mind to become a part of your family...
and call your daughter my wedded wife.
Your idea is as lousy as you are! Have a look in the mirror!
We say eachother at christmas day....
and there was nothing wrong then you'd look away from!
You won't drive me into the abbys instigator-traitor
Mercifull God!
I got three maidens which one do you want...
Which one would you like.
Well, at least get your portrait drawn I will show it to them, maybe one would like to marry you
Here, dear daughter, I have a future husband for you!
of course an original but old man by his looks,
But he's nevertheless a very rich business man.
There, dear daughter, a man of a peculiar fortune...
is asking you in marriage. Don't bother that he's hairy.
He will adore you! Believe my words!
I spit -pough- from the highest tower.
-pough- on respect and adoration
you provide me only with a reference how big his funds are,
how big his properties are and what's his interest in securities.
This reference is given to the Merchant of the first league...
Pronya the dirty that...
Sister, dearest, father has gone mad!
He's forcing us to marry a shaggy monkey.
Let's run away to the farthest moors.
We will emigrate to America! Those Americans are still waiting for us!
He has estate property and 5 % of its annual income...
Oh, that faraway land is full of sorrw and grief
Go on, weep. Daddy's shaggy man can't wait to hug you.
Oh, I don't want to, I don't want to.
But if you don't want to, then crawl out!
We'll give to the Americans our hearts with hands and tootle off overseas.
Let our silly sister hug with this shaggy dog.
Goodbye, little fools!
The case is clear. I agree, ah:
Watch the rest of the story...
At night they brought up a lorry put bags and girls in without worry
and of they went
They got wedded at the Notre Dame de Paris..
and were gone to America
The Americans were happy to become kin to the tsar.
The daughters were happy to end up in America.
Hey, dolt, stop!
Ah, hoity-toities what are they up to?
Don't you ever dare to come back to Russia!
Flirting dissidents spit on you!
When the tsar found out that his daughters had run away...
... he scolded only for the sake of decency.
inside he was happy to have saved wedding money.
What a luck!
We sing to our darling
And the wine pours like rain
The beloved one made a visit.
Mister pronka dear friend
So hello, the case in closed.
OK mister Pronka, you win!
Give me five!
15 years have passed
Thanks to god being kind and to the stubborness of our mind
I've stayed here too long Better not wear out ones welcome
You'll be thumbed at home hard for staying 15 years in Russian yards.
In Russian I lived carefree. In America, I'll be quite busy.
You are great Sam Now you speak like a Russian man!
Mr. Pronka Goodbye! Farewell!
Sam, farewell! Goodbye and be well!
Here a pleasant picture for Russian eyes
Bathing time now has come!
He rented the city bathhouses for 2 weeks and hired 12 rubbers
For a week Pronka was scraped with a scraper.
Scratched with a grus etched with leach.
He was milled with 7 sorts of soap. He was rinsed.
[leach]
For a week they cut him with garden shears,
Shaved, combed, ironed, curled, perfumed and pomaded
On the weddingday 12 tailors put on the tsars's groom stiffened fronts,
They gave him a suit of the latest paris' fashion,
patent leather half boots and what not more
And when this gentleman showed up in public,
nobody would recognize him.
And those who did, wouldn't believe him showing up handsome as a picture.
Brave, fat, red-faced and very attractive.
As for the wedding, 7 days they danced like a herd in spring
clapped their hands until they fell down on the floor
and still went on.
Kiss until it tastes bitter, mr. Pronka!
Until it's bitter, Pronka, son-in-law!
Untill it's bitter! Untill it's bitter!
Until it's bitter!
The machine, I guess, is the last picture to be seen of it.
As the American was flying away
The tsar and pronka were seeing him off...
and wished him a smooth landing
which he did, but he was not really welcome.
The American authority were mad at him...
because he spend 15 years in Russia.
wasting so much money on a peasant and loosing his bet.
The president will speak accusingly now, and I will translate
How can it be, he says, that for all these years...
..you couldn't tempt him to wipe of a snot even once?!
Don't you know that 2 persons of the imperial family...
...married Americans and joined the American religion?
On this event we are well informed and it's a great honor to us!
America is proud of those 2 fine fellows:
But these fine fellows are my brothers.
If it were not for me and my Pronka, They'd not ever taken a sniff of the tsar's daughters.
To those who still are awake I say: Adios.
and good luck on your way home!
So here my friends our story ends

Amy Jo YouTube Test - Duration: 4:35.There's so many people that look at a
Fat body and they're just disgusted and they think that they know everything about that person
I grew up in Missouri and then my boyfriend brought me here. We met through Instagram
I mean, I've had some good experiences and bad experiences with that like obviously, you know
Sometimes we meet up with someone and their online. Persona is much different than their real-life
persona
I've used Tinder
Bumble, and OkCupid it makes it easier to
Connect with people I think. I'm an introverted extrovert
When I think about love, I think about loving myself
Pretty much all of my life I feel like I've hated myself
It wasn't really until I moved to Portland
That I really started
Really breaking down everything in my life and figuring out am I doing this for me or am I doing this for society?
Or because of my family
This is my Grandmother on my mom's side and then my dad. This one right here is another one of my favorites
It's a Wizard of Oz
Theme and I got this when I went to Portland
My boyfriend brought me here, my partner. We met through Instagram
my 52-week
Nude in Nature project, he started following me
I really wanted to get outside and do a year-long project. So many people messaged me like saying
Oh my god, I see myself in you like it makes me want to love myself a little better
I'm really being vulnerable and just putting myself out there even though I don't fit society's norms
as to like what a body or a person should look like
It's super intimidating being on the trails
Like when everyone else
Looks like they're straight out of a commercial like dressed head-to-toe
With like the coolest gear from the biggest companies and I'm like cool. I can never wear that
I think that just commenting about anybody's body in general. It's just it should be
that should be just phased out of our conversations at all when someone comes up to you and they're like
Oh, did you lose weight? You look like you lost weight. You look so great
but it's like are you only giving me a compliment because it looks like I've lost weight like what if I'm super depressed and
Like I haven't been eating and like this weight loss
for me is
Related to like a really low part in my life. So I should feel grateful for losing weight?
I mean I dedicated my book to my mom and my dad and
I showed my mom the like screenshot of the
Dedication page and she didn't she was just like, oh, that's nice. That's good like but she doesn't
She's the kind of person that just doesn't want to
delve into it.
Always kind of felt like I was the black sheep of my entire family
Always felt like I was really oppressed
everyone in my family is very like
Sporty and
very
Family-oriented like the background of my family is a very Midwestern
Catholic
Family very much about like that white picket fence
dream life mentality
But I was just never really into that lifestyle
Okay, so I get it some people
May not like it and that's fine
But I'm gonna keep making people uncomfortable
like I'm gonna keep forcing it on people or just planting the seed like I said until
They might see something beautiful or they might get more
Comfortable with it or familiar with it
Yeah, and that's that's all I can do I guess
