No Rear PTO?!?! Ventrac Monday Morning Minute EP.06 - Duration: 1:46.

Today on Monday Morning Minute I tried to pronounce the last name of a

commentor from last week. And we have no rear PTO.

Leondrick Guerra asked us "why

doesn't the ventrac have a rear PTO?" DeereDriver95 said something

similar that "these are great machines the only bad thing is that they have no

rear PTO." That's a pretty common question and we

think it's because people are used to looking at compact tractors where it's

about the machine only and the attachments are kind of an afterthought.

The Ventrac is very different and here's why. One reason we don't have a

rear PTO is because we have an engine in the front and we're an articulated

tractor. To get that PTO to the back of the tractor we'd have to go through

the center articulation point and that just doesn't work. It's really not

feasible, but even if it was we wouldn't want a rear PTO anyway. The whole point

of a Ventrac and the Ventrac system is to have the attachments out front. They're

easy to see up there. They're much easier to use and they perform better. It just

makes more sense and you don't have that awkward moment where you're looking

behind you all day long and your neck starts hurting. It's just bad for

business.It's no good for video production. My neck already hurts and

it's even worse for tractor work.

home making corner on YouTube this is going to be the third video in

this back to school series and I will throw some eyes in the sky up throughout

this video in case you missed the last two videos I just asked each of my big

kids to grab a big trash bag and gather up all of the clothes that are damaged

or outgrown or they just bought out don't like them and won't wear them this

year so they should be doing that now or they

should be finished doing that now so I am going to head back there go through

and sort out and clean out their closets to get ready for the new school year I

am starting in Tatie's closet by removing all of the clothes from her racks and

the floor and I'm just going to throw everything

on her bed

I keep this section over here which is too tall for her to reach with all of

his closet much tidier and Tate does so there's not much needed in here

I thought I would also clean off Gavin's Lego shelf cuz it's kind of getting out

of control so I thought I would get it all done at once

oh my gosh you guys I got rid of a ton of clothes today we have a lot to donate

some to give away to friends and unfortunately a lot that will have to be

trashed as well that was a lot of work but now their closets are thinned out

and tidy once again I purchased a few key items I

noted they were missing in their wardrobe mainly just PE stuff

so before I wrapped everything up I just wanted to share with you the things that

we bought today so but we could or not the kids were actually really good on

clothing heading into this year so they really didn't need much of anything

except for they both needed jackets PE shoes PE clothes and socks everything

else they were good on so we did not purchase jackets today one because it

stays summertime well into November sometimes even December before we break

like sweatshirts or anything like that out so I'm not really in a hurry for

those so now their closets and their clothes are ready to tackle the new

school year just got these socks a size 5 Under Armor I cannot believe my little

boys foot is this big like they're gonna fit me and then Tate got these cute

little socks then she got these as well she likes the

lower-right sockies so she just went with these Nikes right here and she is

wearing a size 12 right now Gavin just got this shirt says

say every play every day got these PE shorts they are Nike with

the matching shirt Gavin just got two pair of basketball shorts I think

they're both adidas yeah both the Adidas this one just has the stripes on the

right leg this one just has the stripes down the side then he got this Nike

shirt and that's it they didn't need much oh and these sneaker balls have you

guys ever use these I'm not sure if they work but they are supposed to deodorize

shoes gym bags and lockers one of my children has a stinky foot problem let

We couldn't finish our canopy! LTP#039 - Duration: 12:44.

Yeah, that's right, we couldn't finish the canopy of our tiny shipping container house on time for this episode.

But...?

Don't worry! We have plenty to talk about it. We had a lot of progress and that's what we're gonna show you today.

So let's get started.

As you guys know we are using plyglass as the method of construction for our canopy.

What we forgot to mention is that actually we have another reason for that.

In the future we want to build a box for our shower.

And this box needs to be a 100% water tight.

We cannot have mistakes.

And as we've never done any bigger project with plyglass

we decided that it was a good opportunity to try out and to learn as much as we can.

So when the time comes to build our shower box we can do it right.

But the reason why we're doing epoxy resin instead of regular resin (polyester)

is because when you do fiberglass just you know the fiberglass wool and resin

you need to have a mold and that's a lot of work to do only one piece.

So a good way of doing a DIY fiberglass project is to use plywood and epoxy resins.

And that's a way of avoiding to have a mold.

In this case the plywood acts as the "mold" but it's also a structural element.

Time to start working.

Yep.

Today we're gonna apply some fiberglass here on the top.

And for that we need to sand it before.

And to apply some resin.

Yeah, so. Basically the fiberglass we applied on the corners is dried already.

Yeah. It's hard to see it.

It's hard to see it but it's dry already. Now we just need to...

Sand it a little bit.

Sand it. So we can apply then second coat of epoxy on the corners.

And we can apply epoxy on the center with fiberglas wool.

Let's go.

Another important fact that we need to mention is the precision of epoxy.

That's tricky.

Epoxy needs to be really really precise the amount of each component.

Otherwise, it's either not gonna dry

or it's gonna get really hot that can even, you know, melt the plastic bucket we're mixing it.

So in order to achieve this precision we always use the precision scale.

I don't know if you guys understood last week, but this is epoxy resin.

So basically the mixture is one by two. So let's mix some because now we're going to do a bigger surface.

So I'm gonna try to do this full cup.

A few of those actually.

If I put this...

Now it's zero.

Now I put epoxy.

What I'm trying to do is to get an even number.

So now I zero it again.

Now we just need to mix it.

How do you know when it's done?

You can feel that right now it's not like... both components are not together.

And as you mix it you fell that it's one component.

See? It's getting better.

It's homogenized.

When we start building the canopy Duca as usual thought it was a quick project.

I mean I guess I'm just an optimist. I'm always dreaming ahead and think that this is gonna be done in 1 week.

And in reality things are a little bit different.

We forgot to count that this piece of work is 3 dimensional.

That means liquid epoxy plus 3 dimensional piece of wood, we cannot do all the epoxy at once.

We need to do it in turns. We need to do a small piece at a time, right?

Yeah.

So the idea now is to paint this part.

Let's see if I've learned this.

So we took a lot more than we planned.

Yeah, because you know...

You have the right time to cure the epoxy until you can do the next part and we didn't count on...

the weather.

Yeah, the weather this week was probably the most humid weather on the past I don't know few months.

Yeah.

And that means that some days we thought we could do like 2 layers of epoxy but the epoxy wouldn't...

Dry.

Dry at all. It wouldn't cure and you know in between coats of epoxy.

usually with the epoxy we are using it takes 2 hours in between coats

So the epoxy needs to be sticky in order to apply the second coat of epoxy.

But some days we couldn't even get to this point in a few hours.

So we needed to wait 24 hours until we could get the second coat.

It's dry! Finally!

I mean...

That's not like perfect you know smooth surface, but...

This is the top. So no one's gonna see this.

That's the reason why we tried it on the top first and now is the tricky part.

We're gonna flip it and we're going to the underneath part where it's gonna be visible,

so now we need to do a better job.

Not that this is bad. This is good for its purpose. It's watertight.

Water won't go anywhere now.

But you know...

It doesn't look as good as the other side is gonna look.

So basically epoxy for us this time was a game of patience.

We need to come sand it a little bit, epoxy it a little bit, go back home, come back, sand it, epoxy it, sand it epoxy it.

So basically this whole week was sanding epoxying, sanding epoxying.

But the good thing is we've got the chance to try all different kinds of possibilities we could have with epoxy.

So basically had just clear liquid epoxy.

And then we had epoxy with cloth with fiberglass cloth.

And we also tried epoxy fillet that means epoxy mixed with Aerosil and microspheres.

And that gets a thicker paste.

So we can apply on the vertical surface.

And on the corners so you can make like a round corner and at the same time if you sand this filler

it makes so much smoother... the surface gets like really really smooth.

But that is something we can talk about next week!!

someone asked why we glued the wood with epoxy instead of just wooden you know glue.

I don't know... wooden glue probably would work fine.

But as we are trying to build as close as we can to how they build boats

and we want to learn it, it's just like a test because if one day we were to build a wooden boat

we need to know how to glue wood with epoxy and it was a good opportunity just to try it you know.

Because I don't know...

Why not try different things? We've just glued a lot of things with wooden glue already but

we've never had glued things with epoxy. So...

It's just to give it a try, right?
