Even the outlook for August is just as gloomy.
Ko Roon-hee breaks down the numbers for us.
Business sentiment among South Korean firms dropped to its lowest level in 17 months.
The Bank of Korea announced on Tuesday... that the business survey index came to just
75 in July…down five points from the previous month.
A reading below 100 means there are more pessimists than optimists on the local economy.
Meanwhile, confidence among the nation's manufacturers also fell by 6 points in July-- the first
drop in the last three months.
The central bank attributed the sharp fall to the rising trade uncertainties between
the United States and China.
Many South Korean businesses worry about the impact of the trade tensions because they
sell a lot of intermediary goods to China….that are made into final goods and exported to
the U.S.
The report also highlighted the uncertainties in the automobile industry… amid fears that
the United States could impose tariffs on car imports.
The outlook for next month among manufacturers also remains dim… at just 73 on the BSI.
That's 7 points lower than the previous month's forecast.
Sentiment among non-manufacturers in July was also gloomy…at 76 on the index…which
is four points lower than the previous month.
The drop was mainly observed in wholesale and retail businesses.
The Bank of Korea said this is because of low domestic demand during the summer vacation
season.

of objects we can also use the asterisk symbol to multiply a measurement as well
as other mathematical equations to
the second quick tip today will help you with symbols on your design work so for
example on this business card design here I would maybe want to add an email
or even a phone icon if you download an icon font you can insert specific icons
into your text by using the glyphs panel
now this is a quick and easy way to add relevant icons to your artwork and I
find it saved a lot of time too you can find icon fonts with a Google search
within a matter of seconds
did on this business card design here when we use the arrow keys to move an
object around the design it might move too far or maybe doesn't move far enough
head into the general settings and change the keyboard increment values
this number is going to totally depend on the size of your current design or
your project so always change it up to match your design the fourth illustrator
quick tip is again going to save you some time but in this instance when
coloring artwork before you start a project generate plenty of squares off
of the artboard somewhere much like how a painter will have a box of paints for
the watercolor artwork then add color swatches to each of these squares and
choose colors that you might want to use for your design or your artwork you
could of course just use the swatch libraries but by using the squares here
instead you can also add a stroke values
now this is good because when you go to use the eyedropper with eye on your
keyboard you can sample the color of the squares which will actually use the fill
and the stroke color
finally another Adobe Illustrator tip for coloring artwork however this time
it relates to coloring the artwork after has been designed so if you're not
entirely satisfied with the color scheme of your design simply head into edit and
recolor artwork here you're going to be able to change every single aspect of
your design and see the changes in real time this is useful and more efficient
than changing one color at a time in the color palette also you can have access
to things such as color harmony settings which will help suggest what colors that
you need to use for your design

Northeast Asia Peace Festival: gateway to S. Korea-China economic cooperation - Duration: 2:57.
Over the weekend, Harbin, in northeastern China... hosted the 2018 Northeast Asia Peace
Festival.
This year the highlight was a competition for amateur models from four different countries.
According to the organizers it was more than just a cultural exchange.
Hong Yoo takes us to the renowned 'Ice City'.
Thousands of people have gathered in Harbin to watch a contest for models from four countries
-- South Korea, China, Japan, and Russia.
With pose after pose, they showed off their individual beauty as representatives of their
countries.
From July 27th to 30th, the Northeast Asia Economic Cooperation Committee held the 2018
Northeast Asia Peace Festival.
By displaying their countries' traditional clothes, the models were part of an international
cultural exchange, and a big one.
As a whole, the festival attracted around 300,000 visitors.
"I'm not looking for a special prize out of this competition.
I'm happy just to have participated in it and made new friends."
"To be honest, the language barrier made it hard to communicate with the other models,
but the fact that we all have the same goal helped us bond quickly."
The festival was about more than the model contest.
It also opened up the doors to South Korean mid-size companies to expand their business
to China.
A special booth was set up for them to let people know what they're doing.
This time there were two South Korean companies taking part.
One of them was a cosmetics brand,... riding the wave of Korean beauty products that've
become famous all over the world.
"The cosmetics market in South Korea is pretty limited, so we wanted to expand our business
to the global market.
And through this festival we were able to do that by introducing our products to many
people here."
The South Korean committee that helped organize the event thinks its cultural exchanges will
help provide job opportunities to young people and help export Korean goods to China.
"It's usually hard for Korean brands to get a spot in a Chinese department store, and
when they do, they don't tend to last long.
So we are helping South Korean enterprises to get their products into the stores here."
The committee chairman added that North Korea also wants to be part of the Northeast Asia
Economic Cooperation Committee, and the process is underway.
He commented that the North's participation would allow South Korean enterprises to expand
their business in Asia, using the easier land route.
This festival, which aims at boosting South Korea and China's cooperation in culture,
economics and other fields, will next take place in Seoul in 2019.
And hopefully, the participation of North Korea next year will further strengthen regional
ties.
