He attended Waldensia Primary where he first began to show his sprinting potential, running
in the national primary school track meets.
At age 12, he was the school's fastest runner over the 100-meter distance.
Noticing his potential, Pablo McNeil, a former Olympic sprinter, and Dwayne Jarrett coached
him as a youth.
In the final Jamaican High School Championship in 2003, he broke both the 200- and 400-meter
records with times of 20.25 and 45.35 seconds respectively.
Prior to competing in the 2008 Olympics, he suffered hamstring injuries, but since he's

across the globe by breaking world records in the 100- and 200-meter competitions during
his international debut.
In 2009, he improved on his 100-meter world record of 9.69 seconds to 9.58 seconds.
He also improved his 200-meter record from 19.30 in 2008 to 19.19 seconds the following
year.
The 200-meter is his most successful event, with three Olympic titles and four World titles.
In 2011, he was eliminated from the 100-meter competition due to a false start.
At the 2012 London Olympics, he won the 100-meter gold medal with a time of 9.63 seconds, improving
upon his own Olympic record and defending his gold medal from the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
With this win, Bolt became the first man to defend an Olympic sprint title since Carl
Lewis in 1988.
At the 2016 Rio Olympics, Bolt won the 100-meter gold medal with a time of 9.81 seconds, making
him the first in history to win the event three consecutive times.
Due to multiple injuries, Bolt announced his intention to retire from athletics after the
2017 World Championships.
Bolt is the most successful athlete of the World Championships, and is the first to win
three titles, the 100-, 200-meter and 4x100-meter relay, at three consecutive Olympic games,
from 2008 to 2016; however, he lost one of the gold medals due to a doping offence by
one of his teammates.
Bolt has received the fitting media nickname, "Lightening Bolt" and has been given multiple
awards throughout his athletic career, including IAAF World Athlete of the Year, Track & Field
Athlete of the Year and Laureus World Sportsman of the Year.

at $98,000.
This 2013 model comes with a 3.8 liter V6 unit, with 545 horsepower, allowing Bolt to
go from 0-60 mph in a little under three seconds.
In addition to owning multiple Ferraris, Bolt also owns a BMW-M3
Now how about Bolt's businesses, well he has made much of his net worth from his annual
salary as a professional athlete, in addition to hefty endorsements from companies such
as Puma, Visa, Nissan, Gatorade and Virgin Media.
But of these, Puma has given him the biggest paycheck, paying Bolt $9 million a year to
wear their shoes at all times, off the track, on the track, and in the track when hes shifting
gears with your baby momma.
In 2010, Bolt released a best selling autobiography that came with a multi-million dollar advance
from publisher, Harper Collins.
He also gets paid appearance fees, ranging from $250,000 to $500,000 to compete at track
and field events throughout the world.
