Stegosaurus lived in late Jurassic period in North America.

Stegosaurus means roof lizard.

It was named after the Bony Plates on its back which looks like a roof

It was 5 to 8 meters long and 3 meters high

and weighted 2 to 5 tons

There were about 10 to 11 pairs of Bony Plates on its back

and they are predicted to have used it protect themselves

from predators or to control the body temperature.

It was a dinosaur with the largest bony plates

but they had the smallest head which made not so smart

and they moved really slow.

Its narrow Mouth looked like a beak of a bird without teeth.

Its mouth was bending down from the neck

and had 20 teeth but they were too weak

and didn't allow them to chew properly

so it usually fed on soft leaves and fruits.

Oh right right, Stegosaurus was a Herbivorous dinosaur

Guys another interesting point was that

it had four spikes on its tail!

Each spike was 60 to 90cm long.

When it was under attack from predators it crouched down

its body to hide the head and expanded the bony plates

and shook the tail.
