How to Install and Organize Photoshop Actions. - Duration: 7:15.

Hey guys it's Seim here and today I want

to show you how to how to install and

manage Photoshop actions in the

simplest way possible, because it's very

simple but it's much easier if we show

it then then if we say it.

I want to pop over

here and we're going to take a look it

just had a lot of install actions how to

work with actions how to delete actions

how to rearrange.

Right now you can see that I am in kind of a generic

work environment workspace I'm in CC

right now but this is going to work

pretty much the same in any version of

Photoshop now you'll notice right up

here I have my actions palette now

sometimes you'll see this in different

forms because of course in Photoshop you

can move these menus all over the place

you can expand it out and sometimes

you'll like me, have enough real estate

that you'll have it in its own panel

sometimes it won't show up at all and if

that's the case you just want to go up

here to the window menu and you want to

turn on actions and so you can see if I

turn it off the actions palette goes away.

If I turn it back on there is

my actions palette and of course you can

grab it like any panel in Photoshop and

and you can move it around and you can

you can rearrange it and do whatever you want.

Okay let's install some actions I'm

gonna go out of here and I'm going to

actually start from the zip file because

if you're downloading actions you

probably have a zip file that you're

starting with and it's downloaded so the

first thing of course is just like any

zip file you got to unpack the zip file

the zip file is not specific to actions

it's just a file that you'll download

many things on the internet from and so

most computers you're just going to

double-click that zip file and it will

open right out most computers are going

to have a zip utility built in.

Bottom line if you have any problems unzipping

any file it may be that

the zip utility you're using is a little

quirky I've seen this more on

Windows machines and just get an

open-source zip utility like like the

ZIPEG or something like that and use

that install that and use it to unzip.

Let's just go and I'm going to look

for the action file so in this case I've

got the Lumist actions from over at

Seim Effects and I'm going to go to my

actions and what you're looking for is

an ATN file. An ATN file is actions.

Occasionally you'll download an action

file that's is actions but it doesn't have

the .ATN and you can actually if you need to

rename it to a dot ATN if it's named

ATN and you have Photoshop installed

usually all you have to do is actually

double-click this file and you'll see in

my actions palette right here in

Photoshop I now have Lumist right here

Now while we're in here in this mode I'm

going to show you how to delete actions

so you'll notice that the actions you

load an action set as it's called is

basically a folder, okay so I have

Alchemist in here I have a Lumist in

here and I can expand that and you see

all these actions that are part of that

set there's 60 actions or so in the

Lumist set and of course within each

action I can click and I can expand and

see the steps and the scripting that's

inside of the action and then I can

collapse that action now if I go down to

the bottom of the actions panel you'll

see we have some options for

recording actions, if you want to make

your own that's something for another

video, you can create a new action set

again something you would do usually if

you were reorganizing or making your own

actions,and you

can delete so you could delete an

individual action right you could play

an individual action by just selecting

it here and pressing play, or if you're

trying to tidy up you can delete the

whole action set by pressing the

trashcan there. Now another thing you can

do is you can move around so if you grab

the group of actions I can drag it to

the top here for example I can change

the order that it's going to appear at

you can also move actions around within

an action set, you can even drag them to

another action set I'm going to go and

click the Lumist set and I'm gonna hit the

trashcan and it says delete the

selection

and so just like deleting a layer or

something like that I've now removed

Lumist from Photoshop let's go back out

there actually is a couple other ways

you can install actions, one way is to

simply click the ATN and drag it into

Photoshop that usually works; the other

way if you're having some problems is to

go to the little options panel it looks

like three lines at the top of the

actions panel click the options panel

there and you'll see that flyout

and click Load actions and you can just

browse to your actions so in this case

I'm going to go to that folder that I

unzipped on the desktop and I'm just

going to find the action set click open

and once again you see that loaded it

I'm going to drag it to the top right

here. Usually I just double click an

action set and it'll load right out but

there's actually three different ways

that you can get those actions installed

okay now you're in here you've got the

actions of course if you're using like

my Lumist set or my Alchemist set, I'm not

going to dig into how to use those

actions because we actually have

training videos in-depth for those

actions that come with those action sets

and and this this video today is really

for any actions that you're using.

What I want to do though is introduce

you to button mode because generally

this is the best way to run actions like

I showed you you could expand any of

these sets and run them individually but

I'm going to go to button mode again I'm

going to click that flyout the three

little lines at the top right of the

actions panel and I'm going to switch

this to button mode and you can see that

I can have as many rows as I want I kind

of prefer one row, some people like two

rows but I'm going to make this one row;

now you see that all those actions in

the order that they're loaded in are

showing up and when we design actions

here at Seim Studios, we design these

specifically to be conducive to workflow

so everything is color-coded and

categorized and and far and away the

most efficient way to work with this.

This is Lumist that's showing me my tone

map. it's the Total Map on here and I could

hide that and I could start making

selections and I could feather that and

then I could say hey let's let's do a

lighting curve to that area and apply

that and so you know whatever actions

you're using you're going to be able to

apply your effects from here, but the

bottom line is once you're in button

mode your actions are just going to be

kind of organized so I have Lumist

then I have Alchemist down there and I

have everything really tidy and

color-coded. You can organize your

actions however you want, so the bottom

line is you download those actions

you load those actions and then once

you're into Photoshop, when you're out of

button mode you can do your rearranging

right you can reorganize you can delete

action sets you can import new action

sets. Then usually once you get

all organized if you really want a great

action workflow you're just going to

switch over into button mode and now you

can go to town and apply those actions

in any way.

So that is how you install and manage and delete and use photoshop

actions and there's tons of good actions

out there to do really cool things and

help you have more tools at your

fingertips to fulfill your visualization

you work out a price on a property now

you're a buyer you're out there you're

looking at lots of different properties

you've got a budget but in South

Australia can be a little bit confusing

because the property can have no price

it could have a range which needs to be

no greater than ten percent from the

bottom to the top or it can have a

single figure so it is a little bit

confusing but what you need to do is get

out there and look at as many properties

as you possibly can and not just the

ones that you think are in your price

range go a little bit higher go a little

bit below see options of properties like

that and see what they're selling for

and will give you a good understanding

of what's actually happening in the

market but as I said in an earlier video

always best get yourself an agent that

you can work with doesn't have to be us
