for evidence of alien life, we are on the verge of making one of the most profound,
unprecedented discoveries in history, said Zurbuchen during the hearing of the Committee
on American Science, Space and Technology.
At the hearing, professor Zurbuchen mentioned all of NASA�s recent achievements in their
quest for extraterrestrial life that support his claim.
�Two weeks ago NASA�s Cassini mission demonstrated the presence of hydrogen in Saturn�s
moon Enceladus, while the Hubble team announced the results of the second observation of the
oceans of Europa, one of the moons of Jupiter.
Both discoveries are potential evidence of life, �said the NASA spokesman, who also
highlighted the advances made in astrobiology.
�And while we have not yet found definitive signs of life elsewhere, our search is making
remarkable progress,� said Zurbuchen, who noted that NASA�s number of astrobiology
missions is on the rise.
�Mars 2020, our next explorer, and will continue to advance this quest by researching
a region on Mars where the ancient environment may have been favorable for microbial life.
The mission will also look for signs of past life and collect samples that will be brought
back to Earth, �said professor Zurbuchen.
Zurbuchen also pointed out that to prove the existence of extraterrestrial life requires
the cooperation of several scientific disciplines as a whole, such as biology, geology, astronomy,
planetary sciences, Earth sciences and many others.
The NASA Transition Authorization Act of 2017, which President Trump signed into law last
month, ensures continued American leadership in astrobiology and the search for life.
It establishes �the search for life�s origin, evolution, distribution, and future
in the universe� as a fundamental objective for NASA.
To accomplish this, the bill directs NASA and the National Academies to develop an exoplanet
exploration strategy and an astrobiology strategy.
While all of this is great news for space explorations and our hopes�officially�to
find alien life, there have been some seriously interesting quotes made in the past related
to alien life.

and Princeton Physics Professor:

In this week's lab, you will be comparing gelled products made with pectin.
Pectin gels can be formed by using commercial pectin (sold as a powder or liquid) or the
pectin naturally present in the fruits and vegetables.
Making products with commercial pectin is pretty easy.
The easy to following instructions are inside the box of pectin.
This week you will make apple jelly using pectin that is first extracted from the apples.
Only two lab units will make the control.
The others will have an alteration to their recipe.
One of the ingredients will be swapped out, so…for example, honey may be substituted
for regular sugar, or the ratio of a listed ingredient will be altered, so maybe the amount
of added acid used will be increased or decreased, or the endpoint temperature may be raised
or lowered.
This way you can see the effect that the ingredients have on the final product.
Some ingredients affect flavor, others affect color, while others affect the degree of gel
formation and some will contribute to multiple product characteristics.
Commercially, we can buy many different types of pectin gelled products.
There are jellies, as will be made in lab, jams, conserves, fruit butters, and marmalade.
All of these products typically have sugar added to them and some amount of acid depending
on the natural acidity of the fruit.
Jellies, are clear juice, so they don't have any bits of fruit, or vegetable, present.
And I say vegetable because we often think of jellies and jams as fruit preserves but
they can be made with fruits or vegetables or fruits that we often think of as vegetables,
like jalapeño peppers.
Jams are made from juice and whole fruit that is cut into pieces or crushed.
Conserves are made from the juice with whole pieces of fruit.
So, if you were making strawberry conserves you would want to select the smaller strawberries
not the big giant ones.
Save those big ones for dipping in chocolate!
Fruit butters are basically whole fruit, like apples or a stone fruit, such as plums, peaches,
or apricots, that are cooked until they get really soft.
Apples will often completely disintegrate but the stone fruits will need to be puréed.
Then the fruit is returned to the pan and sugar is added and often spices, like cinnamon
and cloves which are commonly added to apple butter.
Either way the fruit and sugar are cooked until no liquid separates when a small spoonful
is put on a plate.
And Marmalades are the same as jams, made from juice and whole fruit that is cut into
pieces or crushed, but they also have citrus fruit peel added.
So, orange marmalade has bits of orange pulp and pieces of orange peel.
When you are evaluating the pectin gelled products, note the intensity of the fruit
flavor, the overall sweetness, the texture of the gel, and the firmness of the gel.

this is the Clover Dakar WP Airbag, a 3 season jacket., since it has 2 layers, one outer, and one inside, but there's a chance to buy another inner layer, in order to make it a 4 season jacket, suitable for winter
The two layers can be switched, this is the smartest feature. We will later describe the venting system, regulations and water resistance.
Let's go see the inner layer, which is water and wind resistant, and which can be put outside, as a rain jacket, allowing to have a dry interior, even with hard rain
This jacket has a great aeration system with 5 panels on the chest, arms and back, made with a 3-D net which improves the ventilation
here we have the huge chest panels, since it's called Dakar, this jacket is suitable for warm conditions
these panels can be fully closed, halfway opened, or we can remove the panels and put them away i the back pocket, allowing to have a full ventilation
A smart solution thought by Clover is a chest pocket which can also be used as a ventilation opening
on the arm there's a very big zip which starts from the wrist and goes all the way up to the arm, allowing to cook down the arms
Same .thing for the back, we can fold the rear panel, there's a lot of attention for the details, as you can see from the Clover logo, otherwise we can fully remove the panel for maximum ventilation, and place it in the rear pocket
Another interesting thing of this jacket is the storage. There are 7 pockets, 3 of them are waterproof. The first two waterproof are the low ones, which have a Velcro closure. I like the opening from the top, since they help in not dropping anything
there are 11 different belts in order adjust the jacket, depending on wether we are wearing the winter layer, or just a t-shirt. Having it well adherent is fundamental for the well functioning of the Level-2 protectors
we can tight the jacket through 2 belts on the arms, there's a Velcro closing for the wrist, closing it well. There are two belts on the waist, and one on the bottom
now we can see the the front of the jacket is shorter on the front and longer in the back, allowing to be comfortable while riding
there are many reflective details
Let's now talk about the winter layer, Paris, which is a 59 Euro optional. Let's try it on
we've tested this jacket, in order to have a better knowledge of the product. What have we noticed?
The size matches what you expect, this L is perfect, there are many different ways to adjust it, and the sleeves are of the right length. Well done
this jacket comes as standard with Level 2 elbow and shoulder protectors, which are well integrated
talking about safety, as optional you can purchase the back protector, or the Airbag, specifically thought for this jacket

this jacket can be used all year long so it's waterproof thanks to the interior layer and to the waterproof treatment of the outer layer
that means that, if there's some rain, we can use the jacket as it is, in case of heavy rain, we can put the raincoat outside
as you can see, I can remove the inner layer through 2 zips and two clips,, switch the layers, and here it it, it takes just a few seconds
All the layers can be used independently from the others
We can now give ratings to this jacket.
3 stars for the comfort, since it's very comfortable. Wind resistance: 4 stars, thanks to the inner layer. Water resistance: 5 stars thanks to the waterproof treatment of the jacket and to the rain shell
Temperature: 5 stars, but only if you buy the Paris winter jacket
here it is. It can be worn by itself when not riding, it's very comfortable
Weight: 4 stars. Despite the fact of being very complete, it's light
