120g sugar

Anker SoundCore 2 Review (2017) - Duration: 3:22.

Hey, I'm Ryan from Technically Well and I'm checking out the Anker SoundCore 2.

(intro music)

Anker actually launched two versions of the SoundCore's successor.

One is called the SoundCore Select and the other is simply called SoundCore 2, but they

are essentially the same speaker.

For the rest of this review, I'll refer to the new speaker as the SoundCore Select.

Anker's new SoundCore Select contains the same great features and sound quality of Anker's

popular original SoundCore model.

The clarity and sound performance are still great on the SoundCore Select.

So what's new?

The SoundCore Select features a larger bass port on the front, and this is definitely

noticeable when listening to music on the speaker.

This speaker is still relatively small, so don't expect the bass to rattle the windows,

but the enhancement of the lows is a welcome change on the SoundCore Select.

Another change you'll notice is that there is now a cover over the charging and Aux ports,

which helps keep out dust and splashes.

But please note that this speaker is not completely waterproof, so don't plan on taking it in

the pool with you.

One other thing you may notice on the exterior is that the SoundCore Select has more-rounded

corners, but is otherwise very similar in size to the original model.

The SoundCore Select is still easy to use.

Across the top you'll find the power button, as well as volume controls, play and pause,

and a Bluetooth button.

Just turn on the speaker and tap the Bluetooth button to place the speaker in pairing mode

and connect your phone.

You can also now pair the speaker by using NFC if your phone supports it.

You can use the Play button to answer phone calls and you can call up Siri by holding

down the Play button for 2 seconds.

The only issue I noticed with this speaker is that at loud volumes the speaker can start

to over-emphasize highs and begins to sound "tinny".

I only found this happens when the iPhone's volume indicator was over 75-percent.

So don't expect to use this speaker for a large group of people or for an outdoor party.

But for listening at home or with small groups -- such as a dinner party -- this speaker

performs great.

In summary, the SoundCore Select retains many of the great qualities of the original SoundCore

speaker, while further enhancing the bass which -- in turn -- boosts the overall sound

performance.
