Metroid on Nintendo Switch? Reveal at E3 2017! - Duration: 10:01.

What is going on with Metroid lately?

What was once one of Nintendo's beloved franchises, has suddenly gone dark.

With new titles to the franchise being few and quite polarizing.

But there seems to be hope.

in an interview with Reggie Fils-Aime, he alludes that some notable IP's specifically metroid may be seeing a true return to form.

And since the Nintendo Switch has been released, does the company have anything

in store for our favorite bounty hunter. Well the answer to that may be a bit complicated.

But what else can we take from all this? Since there was no Metroid for the Wii U, will there be a Metroid on the Switch?

With that in mind, let's discuss where Metroid is heading.

Talking about the Metroid series is actually a bit depressing. So much so that there is this thing known as the Metroid curse.

What this curse is exactly is that even though the Metroid series has been profoundly influential. Fathered the metroidvania genre and all.

It somehow does not receive commercial success that matches that, with a few exceptions of course.

And this unfortunately has played into relatively recent times. With Metroid Prime 3 Corruption doing fairly well in terms of review scores,

but strangely not doing well in terms of sales. Despite being on a new and popular console at the time the Wii, and having such a reputable name

behind it. And compare Metroid's sales with other Nintendo IP's like Mario and Zelda, it's a striking comparison.

But the problems don't end there. Personally what I think is the biggest issue Metroid is facing is the lack of developer consistency. For example, Mario is a series that is

dominated by Shigeru Miyamoto. As a result, this gives the series developer consistency, with a clear vision of the series is and how to expand on it.

Same can be said with Zelda, Eiji Aonuma along with the Zelda team have dominated the series since Ocarina.

Again this gives the franchise consistency across all of its titles along with the innovation that can come with it.

But for Metroid, it's just one big roller coaster. At first Metroid was spearheaded by Nintendo's R & D division 1, headed up by Gunpei Yokoi.

At first this arrangement worked out well, with Metroid along with Super Metroid being acclaimed installments.

However the first iteration of the Metroid curse came in.

Super Metroid while being incredibly influential, It unfortunately came out at the end of the super Nintendo's life cycle. And did not do too well in sales.

Things became more complicated when Gunpei Yokoi unfortunately died in 1997. and the R & D 1 that built Metroid would go defunct.

So with that Metroid went under a drought, with many of its original creators retiring or passing away. Essentially what this did is

it send the Metroid series into a state of flux. With Nintendo not entirely sure on what to do with it, sound familiar huh?

Strangely enough, Nintendo would later opt for a third party to develop a Metroid game. And stranger still, gave it to retro studios

who at the time was essentially just a new kid on the block. But it worked, wow it worked. To this day Metroid Prime 1 is the best selling game

in the series. Which opened up what I call the golden age of Metroid, where we saw a very good formula.

Of 3d Metroid games on consoles, and 2d metroid on handhelds. With a few exceptions of course.

But there was a price to all this. Apparently the development cycle of Metroid Prime 1 is absolutely hellish for Retro Studios, with the director

of the game admitting he did not care for the title. Also leading up to the acquisition of Retro Studios by Nintendo,

the former president of the studio was replaced. And developers faced a pretty harsh development cycle.

So much so that many developers that made the Prime trilogy left Retro studios. With a good portion of them working on other projects,

such as Halo 4 and ReCore. And this is where he head into another issue the Metroid series is running into.

Even though there is allot of public outcry that Retro should go back to working on Metroid games. The fact is, most of the people who

worked on the Prime trilogy are no longer with Retro. In fact this exodus really turned on its head once Metroid Prime 3 came out.

So what did Nintendo do to remedy the situation? Since Retro was no longer the same studio that developed the prime trilogy, they opted

to make a Metroid in house. This led to the development of Other M, with Yoshio Sakamoto along with Team Ninja taking reigns.

And as many of you probably already know, it is considered the black sheep of the franchise. So as a result,

the Metroid series yet again entered a period of flux. With Nintendo not sure on what to do with the IP.

And here comes Metroid Prime Federation Force, spearheaded by Kensuke Tanabe the producer of the Prime Trilogy along with next level games,

entered development kind of strangely. At first Tanabe wanted to expand on the formula on Metroid Prime Hunters a DS game,

but also wanted to expand on the Federation like in Prime 3.

At first Tanabe wanted to develop for the DSi, but then changed course for the new upcoming 3DS. All the while being unaware

of the general fan sentiment towards Metroid since Other M. Which was pleading for either a 3d title like the prime series,

or the classic 2d approach. And come e3 2015 when the game was revealed, it had quite the negative response.

So much so that Regie Fils Aime acknowledged the reaction. So where the heck does that leave us here?

Well Regiee did say in a recent interview that some notable IP's like Metroid may be seeing a return.

But again what I think this biggest issue Metroid has is the lack of develop consistency. At first it belonged to R & D division 1,

then Retro Studios, then Sakomoto and Team Ninja, and finally Next Level. What I personally would recommend for Nintendo

is first find a dedicated team to handle the Metroid series, like what they do for both Mario and Zelda and go from there.

Preferably a western team, as Metroid is actually more popular in the west rather than Japan.

Maybe take in developers who developed fan games. I mean just look at Sonic mania, which the guy known as Christian Whitehead

is working on. He started out working on fan games when the sonic team saw his talent and brought him on board.

Speaking of which there is a certain fan game that has a certain talented developer

that Nintendo could very well take under their wing. But nope, DMCA takedown for you.

So where does that leave us, will there be a Metroid on the Switch. I personally believe so, but I am not entirely sure when.

Since Federation Force and Other M, Nintendo may just be reevaluating what they should do to the Metroid series.

In other words they will probably take their time with it.

Will Metroid be at E3 2017 which is around the corner, honestly its anyones guess at this point. Personally as a fan I

would like to see it, but looking at Metroid's past history I have my doubts. But who knows I may be complely wrong,

and Nintendo will just pull a 180 and reveal a brand new Metroid at E3. One that actually gets the community excited.

And maybe this title which I am calling Metroid Switch, will be commerically successful. Considering how well the switch is selling after all.

So what do you guys think? Will a new Metroid be revealed at this E3? Or are we in a new Metroid drought, let me know your thoughts.

Well then that was a bit depressing. But I do have something for you guys, personally I love the Metroidvania genre.

And recently I picked up a new game known as Hollow Knight, and my god this what I call a video game.

If you like Super Metroid then you will love this. And no this is not a product placement I just geninuenly love this game.

It has isolation, exploration, fluid gameplay, and a really deep backstory. If you guys really want to satisfy your metroid urges,

then play this game I highly recommend it. Who knows, maybe Nintendo should get these

guys working on a Metroid. Apparently Hollow Knight is coming on the Switch soon, so who knows.

So where does that leave us here? Well remember when I said that I was done with Zelda theories for the moment, well aparently there is one more thing

I want to talk about in Breath of the Wild and its a bit eye opening. So see you guys this Saturday for a new Zelda theory I suppose.

Special thanks goes to our Patreon Producers, Dom, Ghost of Mokku, First, and Commonwealth Realm.

Well looks like I have to be heading out now, have a great and wonderful rest of the day and take care.

Babe, so today I was alone at that coffee shop

The same place we used to be every night

Babe, so today I was alone at that cinema

The same place we used to go together

Have we forgotten each other?

Has heart stopped hurting?

You really left...

while I'm still waiting and dreaming

Have we forgotten each other?

Has heart stopped hurting?

Leaving dreams we built together

Babe, so yesterday I met someone

She really loves me and wanna spend life with me

But babe, it was ended today.

Not for any reason.

Just I still can't forget you.

I still can't forget you.

I still can't believe it.

Was it really ended?

I wanna think we're still together

I still can't forget you.

I still can't believe it.

It's no longer the same path we walk.

And I'm telling myself not to cry.

It's not easy to learn to forget.

It only makes heart hurts more.

Nobody would trade sunshine for long dark nights

Nobody would want to give up that feeling of peace

Can we still love when we're here now

But there was only silence

Don't let tears wash away your lipstick

Don't let pain steal our faith

Have we forgotten each other?

Has heart stopped hurting?

You really left...

while I'm still waiting and dreaming

Have we forgotten each other?

Has heart stopped hurting?

Leaving dreams we built together

Have we forgotten each other?

Has heart stopped hurting?

Was it really ended?

I wanna think we're still together

I still can't forget you.

I still can't believe it.

It's no longer the same path we walk.

And I'm telling myself not to cry.

Have we forgotten each other?

Has heart stopped hurting?

Have we forgotten each other?

Biomechanics is the way that the body moves, particularly in terms of the muscles.

And ensuring that they're able to act freely they don't results in injury.

We study the body and its movements, and

we're always looking at ways of making sure that it's moving efficiently and effectively.

I think it's always really important to concentrate on three elements when you're looking at biomechanics.

I look at alignment which has to do with the joints in the spine.

So making sure that the spine is there to support the muscles as well as provide movement.

But because the nerves come out of the spine as well, it's really important to know that

the control of the muscles is affected by the way the spine works.

So I always start with alignment and make sure that there's a lot of movement through the spine.

And then I work on the muscles in terms of length and mobility,

to make sure that we have enough length and strength through the muscles.

and then I work on control which has to do with the strength in the way that the muscles switch on and off.

That's where we get our power as well as our stability.

Well, sitting plays a really important part now in society. On average people are sitting for up to 10h a day.

Obviously this has some great effects on the body in terms of

spine stiffness, back and neck stiffness, and hip and muscle tightness.

It also affects the way that the muscles work in terms of the control, the way that they switch on and off,

and also in terms of strength.

So it's really important that we try and reduce the amount of sitting we do each day.

So that we can actually allow our bodies to function efficiently

in the upright position which we're designed to be in.

I think first it's really important for people to become aware of their own bodies,

and the things that feel stiff and tight, and movement that are difficult for them to do.

because that's their body telling them that there's something not right.

And when there are things like that, they need to become proactive and go see experts like physios or osteopaths,

before they become a problem. To address any tightness, stiffnesses or difficulties with movement.

And I guess it's preparing the body every day for the things that we do every day

in terms of walking or running, including exercises or stretching or strengthening programs

on a daily basis to make sure the body is ready for the things that it needs to do each day.

I think the most important exercise is the exercise that the person who is going to do it wants to do.

Because it's so individual and there's no point in recommending a specific exercise,

if it's not going to be done.

So it really comes down to the individual and what they want to do.

It really doesn't matter what kind of exercise, it's just actually getting out there and doing something!

🎉#ReadingDouble Readathon Announcement! 🎉[CC] - Duration: 1:33.

Hey, everyone, it's Maddie and Be and today

we have a very special announcement!

We've decided to start our very own

readathon! It's called Reading Double and

the aim is to read a pair of something.

There are three different kinds of pairs

you can have. 1.) Two books from the same author.

This can be standalone or books from

different series or books from a series

and a stand alone. 2.) Two books from the same

series. The series can be any length that

you want. 3.) Or, just two books of the same

colour. If you don't know if what you've

picked for your TBR qualifies as a

'reading double' then you can just leave

what you're planning to read in the

comments and we can tell you for sure

whether it counts or not. And, we also

have a few videos going up soon which

will hopefully help. One is a duologies

recommendation and recommending authors

that only have two books out, so you

could potentially use this read-a-thon

to complete an author's works or

complete a series, if you like having

lots of things off your TBR. So. most

importantly the readathon is taking

place on the 24th to the 25th of June!

This falls on a weekend so, hopefully,

you'll have plenty of time in your

schedules to read as much as you can.

There's absolutely no obligation to try

and read more than two books. One per day

is plenty. During the read-a-thon, we're

going to be hosting a giveaway and we'll

give more information on that closer to

the time. We've also created a Twitter

which is @ReadingDouble. A link will

be in the description, and that is where

reading spirits, hosted by Maddie and

myself, will be taking place. You can then

link us to your TBR that you can create on

YouTube or on a blog post or in an

Instagram post, using the hashtag #readingdouble

I'm planning on reading the two

books Jeff Zentner currently has out: The

Serpent King and Goodbye Days and I'm

planning on reading David Arnold's books

Mosquitoland and Kids of Appetite. So, we

hope you join us for this read-a-thon and

if you're planning to, let us know down

in the comments below. Thank you, everyone, so

much for watching, we'll see you in our

next video! Bye!

TOP-3 misused uncountable nouns - Duration: 4:00.

[Music]

Hi! My name is Jason Palmer and I'm an

English teacher from Toronto, Canada.

Today we're going to talk about the top

three misused uncountable nouns.

The first one we're going to talk about

today is the word research. So, a lot of

people think research is a countable

noun. They might say things like we did a

lot of researches about that project or

they might say something like could you

do a research for me. So, we can't use it in

this way, because it's simply not

countable. Research is an uncountable

noun. We need to use this as an

uncountable noun. So, we should say I did

some research about that project or I

did a little research on that project.

Usually if we want to use this word in a

countable way we have some other words

to use. We can say I did a report on the

environmental impact of cars, for example,

or we did a study on diet and nutrition.

so there are other words we can use when

we need to have a countable form. But

generally this is one of those words

that is uncountable. Okay, number two. This

word is the word advice. Now it's

interesting, because in some other

languages advice is treated as a

countable noun, but in English advice is

uncountable. So you cannot say that I

need an advice. This is completely wrong.

We use this as uncountable. So we would

say I need some advice, could you give me

some advice. If we want to use this as

countable we have some other words we

could use. We could say: could you give me

a tip; can you give me a recommendation.

We could use this

in another form. We could say maybe a

piece of advice: let me give you a piece

of advice or let me give you some advice.

In any case we always have to remember

that advice is uncountable, so never use

this as a countable noun. And finally

perhaps the most misused uncountable

noun, the one that I hear most often, that

people really don't realize is incorrect,

is the uncountable noun training. So in

English this is uncountable it is not

countable. We cannot use this to say

today I had a training. That is wrong, so

we would need to say today I had a

training session or today I had a

training seminar. To use this as an

uncountable noun we could also say today

I did some training on this new language

or this new platform. So this always

needs to be used as uncountable.

So remember, if you want to use this as

countable, make sure to say a training

session or a training seminar something

like that. And finally to review the top

3 miscues uncountable nouns are research,

advice and training. So practice those,

memorize those. It's very important to

use those as uncountable nouns. So, this

has been Jason Palmer, see you next time.

Hello! It's me Ray!

So today our lesson is going to be starting conversations with strangers.

Now, "Why?" do you ask? 「

Because it's fun meeting new people and having conversations with them.

Now when and where can you use this type of conversation?

Perhaps if you're in a bar, restaurant, cafe etc..

Imagine you're in a bar and sitting next to you is a stranger.

could be an attractive male or female perhaps.

Or just somebody you feel like talking to.

This is the setting that we are going to use for this lesson.

Okay now here is a conversation example.

Alright? So you will be "Person A".

and I will be "Person B".

Ok? So, let's go!

Okay now "A", repeat after me.

Hey, how's it going? 「

Alright! Great!

Now you say,

Alright! Excellent!

Now I say,

Now you say,

That's it! That's it! You got it. Great! Great!

Okay, now let's practice a real conversation.

Again, you will be "Person A" and I will be "Person B".

Ok? So let's start!

。。。。

Pretty good how about you?

。。。。

Oh, I'm Ray. Nice to meet you.

。。。。

Um, yeah... sometimes. How about you?

。。。。

Got that?

Alright. Great! Excellent. Good job!

Okay so today's lesson was again "Starting a Conversation with Strangers"

So basically what you learned today was really just a beginning of a conversation.

Because of course it continues on longer.

So I hope that this lesson helped you a little bit.

So keep practicing at home and good luck everybody.

See you next time. Bye!
